This thesis is an application of surrealism to architecture. Surrealism is an art & literary movement started in Europe between the world wars. After the chaos of the first world war the surrealist group was disillusioned with the devotion to rationalism that they believed produced the war. The group determined that an opposing philosophy would produce the opposite result. They began to develop an art based on the irrational. Their creativity was derived from chance, group activities, dreams, and other undirected actions. They promoted this as a new way to discover beauty and a foundation for a new way of thinking. The surrealists were prevalent in art and literature, but never integrated themselves into the world of architectural design. This thesis explores the possibilities of using surreal concepts and techniques as an inspiration for design.
The site for this exploration is a fifty foot wide infill lot in an urbanizing Washington, D.C. suburb, Falls Church, Virginia. The art schoolâ s program was selected by a Wikipedia random article search and a deck of cards.<br>Master of Architecture

Exploring the possibility of predicting hit songs is both interesting from a scientific point of view and something that could be beneficial to the music industry. In this research we raise the question if it is possible to classify a music track as a hit or a non-hit based on its audio features. We investigated which machine learning algorithms could be suited for a task like this. Four different models were built using various algorithms such as Support Vector Machine and Gaussian Naive Bayes. The obtained results do not indicate that it is possible to predict hit songs on our particular dataset. This stands in contrast to some previous research within this field. We discuss the potential problem in using only audio features, and how this seems not to be sufficient information for predicting a hit.<br>Att förutsäga om en låt når topplistan skulle vara gynnsamt för musikindustrin samtidigt som det är intressant ur ett vetenskapligt perspektiv. I vår undersökning lyfter vi frågan om det är möjligt att klassificera en låt som hit eller icke-hit baserat på låtens ljudegenskaper. Contemporary popular music is a ubiquitous social, cultural, and pedagogical force.
Enabled by ever-evolving and -expanding technology, its songs and lyrics are transmitted
into our most public and private spaces. For this study, I present the Billboard music charts
as a functioning pedagogy and curriculum. Riffing on Richter’s denkbilder, Aoki’s curricular worlds of plan and lived experience, Giroux’s public pedagogy, and Giroux & Simon’s
theorizing on youth culture, I sound out messages and motives embedded within the hit
parade pedagogy. DJing a methodology of qualitative inquiry, autoethnography, and free
association, I listen closely to chart-topping songs by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and P!nk that
feature themes of marginalization, and consider the paradox presented by the juxtaposition of
their popularity and subject matter. I suggest that this playlist legitimizes and perpetuates its listeners’ marginalization, running counter to its supposed intent to galvanize and inspire.
Before signing off, I consider the implications for school-based educators and pedagogy in
regard to engaging marginalization, particularly the notion of implementing a curriculum
with which students may participate and sing along.

Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att ta reda på hur unga queer-personer upplever Uppsala. Utifrån ett fenomenologiskt perspektiv besvaras frågeställningarna ”Hur upplever unga som identifierar sig som queer att bo och leva sina vardagsliv i Uppsala?” och ”På vilket sätt rör man sig i staden och hur påverkar olika platser ens sätt att vara eller uttrycka sig?”. Materialet utgörs av semistrukturerade intervjuer av sju personer som identifierar sig som queer och metoden bygger på en kombination av innehållsanalys och narrativ analys. Resultatet visar att identiteten är tätt sammankopplad med upplevelsen av platsen och beteendet skiftar beroende på hur accepterande man uppfattar den givna platsen. Uppfattningen är att Uppsala är en tillåtande plats som präglas av öppenhet, samtidigt som det finns platser som kan leda till obehag utifrån ens queera identitet. Det finns platser i staden där normerna kring vilket beteende som är accepterat är starkare än andra. På dessa platser väljer flera att anpassa sitt beteende eller dölja delar av sin identitet för att minska känsla av att vara out of place.

L’apoptosi és un procés biològic rellevant en moltes malalties. Un punt de regulació d’aquest procés és la formació d’un complex multiproteic anomenat apoptosoma; per tant, aquest complex té un gran interès per al desenvolupament de moduladors apoptòtics. El nostre grup ha descrit prèviament una piperazina-2,5-diona substituïda en posició 3 com a potent modulador apoptòtic. Estudis estructurals d’aquest compost han permès veure la presència dels isòmers cis / trans de l’enllaç de l’amida terciària exocíclica en un procés d’intercanvi lent, fet que pot ser important per a la interacció amb la diana biològica. Aquesta informació ens va animar a mimetitzar aquests isòmers a través d’una substitució isostèrica de l’enllaç amida amb unitats de 1,2,3-triazoles. La síntesi d’aquests anàlegs restringits es va dur a terme utilitzant una reacció Ugi multicomponent seguida d’una ciclació intramolecular. L’anàlisi completa per RMN (incloent les correlacions 1H-15N en abundància natural) d’aquests compostos han permès la caracterització inequívoca dels patrons de substitució corresponents. Finalment, l’increment de l’activitat inhibitòria d’aquests nous compostos en comparació amb el compost de partida ha proporcionat nova informació sobre la unió dels compostos a la diana terapèutica i ha fet possible la identificació de nous moduladors. Cal destacar que per a una de les estructures proposades, es va formar inesperadament una β-lactama que va resultar el compost amb una activitat inhibidora més alta. Els estudis computacionals realitzats també donen suport a la hipòtesi que el mecanisme d’inhibició de tots aquests nous derivats és a través de la unió amb la proteïna Apaf-1.
Degut a la formació d’aquest cicle, es va realitzar un estudi de reactivitat per explicar la manera de ciclació dels adductes de la reacció de Ugi. Per tal de modular aquesta reacció, s’ha sintetitzat una quimioteca de compostos que contenen els dos nuclis (β-lactama o dicetopiperazina) havent-se assajat les seves activitats com a inhibidores de l’apoptosis.
Finalment, per intentar millorar les propietats dels nostres compostos com a possibles candidats a fàrmac, s’han dut a terme uns acoblaments amb alguns dels inhibidors i glicodendrímers.
Com a conclusió, s’ha sintetitzat una nova família d’inhibidors de l’apoptosi amb una llibertat conformacional menor aconseguint mantenir valors d’activitat similars. Es confia que aquests compostos mostrin una selectivitat més gran, condició fonamental per regular un procés tan delicat.<br>La apoptosis es un proceso biológico relevante en muchas enfermedades. Uno de los puntos de regulación de este proceso es la formación del complejo multiproteico llamado apoptosoma; por tanto, este complejo reviste gran interés para el desarrollo de moduladores apoptóticos. Previamente en nuestro grupo se ha descrito una piperazina-2,5-diona sustituida en posición 3 como potente inhibidor apoptótico. Estudios estructurales de este compuesto han permitido determinar la presencia de isómeros cis / trans del enlace de la amida terciaria exocíclica en un proceso de intercambio lento, hecho que puede ser importante en la interacción con la diana biológica. Ésta información nos animó a mimetizar éstos isómeros a través de una sustitución isostérica del enlace amida con unidades 1,2,3-triazólicas. La síntesis de éstos análogos restringidos se llevó a cabo usando una reacción Ugi multicomponente seguida de una ciclación intramolecular. El análisis completo por RMN (incluyendo las correlaciones 1H-15N en abundancia natural) de estos compuestos ha permitido la caracterización inequívoca de los patrones de sustitución correspondientes. Además, el aumento de la actividad inhibitoria de los nuevos compuestos ha proporcionado nueva información sobre el tipo de interacción de los compuestos con la diana terapéutica. La formación inesperada de una β-lactama en lugar de la dicetopiperazina para una de las estructuras propuestas y el hecho que este último compuesto fuera el que mostrara mayor actividad inhibidora, fueron hechos muy interesantes que dieron lugar a estudiar en mayor profundidad la reacción de ciclación intramolecular.
Se realizó un estudio de la reactividad para explicar la ciclación de los aductos de la reacción de Ugi y para modular esta reacción, se sintetizó una quimioteca con los dos tipos de ciclo (β-lactama y dicetopiperazina), habiéndose ensayado sus actividades como inhibidores de la apoptosis.
Finalmente, para intentar mejorar las propiedades de nuestros compuestos como posibles candidatos a fármaco, se llevaron a cabo acoplamientos entre algunos inhibidores y diferentes tipos de glicodendrímeros.
Como conclusión, se ha sintetizado una nueva familia de inhibidores de la apoptosis con una libertad conformacional menor consiguiendo mantener valores de actividad similares. Se confía que estos compuestos muestren una selectividad mayor, condición fundamental para regular un proceso tan delicado.<br>Apoptosis is a biological process relevant to different human diseases stated that is regulated through protein-protein interactions and complex formation. In this context, one point of regulation is the formation of the multiprotein complex known as apoptosome. Consequently, this complex is of interest for the development of apoptosis modulators.
In our group, it has been previously reported a peptidomimetic compound bearing a 3-substituted-piperazine-2,5-dione moiety as a potent apoptotic inhibitor. Structural studies of this compound showed the presence of cis/trans isomers of the exocyclic tertiary amide bond in slow exchange, which should be of high relevance for off-target interaction in front of the biological target. This information encouraged us to perform an isosteric replacement of the amide bond by a 1,2,3-triazole moiety, where different substitution patterns would mimic different amide rotamers. The syntheses of these restricted analogs have been carried out using the Ugi multicomponent reaction followed by an intramolecular cyclization. Unexpectedly, for one of the proposed structures, a novel β-lactam compound was formed.
All synthesized compounds showed to efficiently inhibit apoptosis, in vitro and in cellular extracts, with slight differences for the corresponding regioisomers. Noticeably, the compound bearing the new β-lactam scaffold showed the highest inhibitory activity. On the other hand, computational studies also support the hypothesis that these new families of inhibitors exert their action by binding to Apaf-1, one of the components of the apoptosome complex.
Due to the formation of the unexpected β-lactam scaffold, a reactivity study has been carried out to explain the course of the intramolecular cyclization of the Ugi adducts. In order to be able to modulate this cyclization, a small library of compounds bearing both heterocyclic scaffolds has been synthesized and their activities as apoptosis inhibitors have been evaluated.
Moreover, couplings between some of the apoptosome inhibitors and different glycodendrimer moieties have been carried out to improve the properties of our compounds as drug candidates.
As a conclusion, a new family of compounds has been designed, synthesized and characterized, and most of them showed good apoptosis inhibitory activities in vitro and in cellular extracts. We deem that the reduction of the conformational freedom achieved in this new family of inhibitors could be fundamental to increase the selectivity, which is a highly important condition when regulating such a delicate process.

In this work, we study systems with two levels of memory: a fixed-size cache, and a backing store, each of which contain blocks. In order to serve an IO request, the block must be in the cache. If the block is already in the cache when it is requested, the request is a cache hit. Otherwise it is a cache miss, and the block must be brought into the cache. If the cache is full, a block must be evicted from the cache to make room for the new block. A replacement policy determines which block to evict. In this work, we consider only the LRU policy. An LRU cache evicts the block which was least recently requested.
A trace is a sequence of blocks, representing a stream of IO requests. For a given trace, a hit rate curve maps cache sizes to the fraction of hits that such a cache would achieve on the trace. Hit rate curves have been used to design storage systems, partition memory among competing processes, detect phases in a trace, and dynamically adjust heap size in garbage-collected applications.
The first algorithm to compute the hit rate curve of a trace over a single pass was given by Mattson et al. in 1970. A long line of work has improved on this initial algorithm. The main contribution of our work is the presentation and formal analysis of two algorithms to approximate hit rate curves. Inspired by recent results in the streaming algorithms community on the distinct elements problem, we use memory efficient probabilistic counters to estimate the number of distinct blocks in a subsequence of the trace, which allows us to approximate the hit rate curve using sublinear space. We also formally state some variants of the hit rate curve approximation problem which our algorithms solve, and derive lower bounds on the space complexity of these problems using tools from communication complexity.<br>Science, Faculty of<br>Computer Science, Department of<br>Graduate

Developing automated electronic training aids for sports has become more and more viable in recent years. Modern smartphones provide ubiquitously available computing resources. Combined with ever smaller, increasingly accurate and energy efficient motion measurement technologies, this has enabled the creation of automated systems able to offer feedback to people engaged in various sports, thus aiding them in their training. In many sports, including golf, it is of interest to track the movement of the hands and arms to gain insight into the player’s technique. Wrist mounted devices, such as wrist watches, are widely used and accepted to be relatively unintrusive to wear in many sports. The wrist is also directly connected to the hands that control the used equipment, such as golf clubs. Following a review of currently existing golf training aids, wrist device was chosen as a suitable compromise between user comfort and performance for measuring movement in golf. In the context of this thesis, a prototype device for measuring golf putts was designed and implemented. In addition, a simulation set-up was created for measuring acceleration data during golf putts performed by a human subject and a purpose-built human analogue. The resulting signals were analysed with a view towards use in algorithm development. The implemented device proved able to produce data of sufficient quality and quantity to enable algorithm design and implementation. A preliminary test was performed to verify that detection of putts using this device was viable, thus laying the base for creating an automated system able to give instant feedback to the user<br>Viime vuosina urheiluharjoittelua tukemaan on kehitetty sähköisiä apulaitteita. The job of classifying or annotating brain tumors from MRI images can be time-consuming and difficult, even for radiologists. To increase the survival chances of a patient, medical practitioners desire a means for quick and accurate diagnosis. While datasets like CIFAR, ImageNet, and SVHN have tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or millions of samples, an MRI dataset may not have the same luxury of receiving accurate labels for each image containing a tumor. This work covers three models that classify brain tumors using a combination of convolutional neural networks and of the concept of capsule layers. Each network utilizes a hit-or-miss capsule layer to relate classes to capsule vectors in a one-to-one relationship. Additionally, this work proposes the use of deep active learning for picking the samples that can give the best model, PSP-HitNet, the most information when adding mini-batches of unlabeled data into the master, labeled training dataset. By using an uncertainty estimated querying strategy, PSP-HitNet approaches the best validation accuracy possible within the first 12-24% of added data from the unlabeled dataset, whereas random choosing takes until 30-50% of the unlabeled to reach the same performance.

The work is being carried out with the construction company Arcona.The aims are to evaluate and make recommendations about theirbuilding logistics solution CSL. For now, CSL is only used forprojects in Stockholm. If a need for CSL occurs in Uppsala, it willalso be introduced there.The purpose of the study is to investigate how CSL works inStockholm, what good experiences and challenges identified by theusers in Stockholm. Another purpose is to identify which partfunctions of the logistics solution that are requested by futureusers in Uppsala.To find out how the solution works today on projects in Stockholm,three qualitative interviews have been conducted. To find out aboutthe expectations of subcontractors (UE) on a logistics solution inUppsala, a qualitative interview has been conducted with asubcontractor. All interviews were then encoded to find themes andsubcategories.The conclusion is that both the subcontractor and Arcona see bothpractical and financial gains in introducing CSL in Uppsala. The mainadvantage of CSL is that it is scalable and you can choose to insertonly the sub-functions that are needed on the current project. Aservice that both sees benefits and which can be recommended is alogistics coordinator who reviews the entire logistics at theworkplace and thereby more easily identifies and solves problems.

Since the discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) as the bacterial agent causing tuberculosis, the permanent eradication of this disease has proven challenging. Although a number of drugs exist for the treatment of tuberculosis, 1.7 million people still die every year from this infection. The current treatment regimen involves lengthy combination therapy with four different drugs in an effort to combat the development of resistance. However, multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant strains are emerging in all parts of the world. Therefore, new drugs effective in the treatment of tuberculosis are much-needed. The work presented in this thesis was focused on the early stages of drug discovery by applying different hit identification and hit expansion strategies in the exploration of two new potential drug targets, glutamine synthetase (GS) and 1-deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate reductoisomerase (DXR). A literature survey was first carried out to identify new Mtb GS inhibitors from compounds known to inhibit GS in other species. Three compounds, structurally unrelated to the typical amino acid derivatives of previously known GS inhibitors, were then discovered by virtual screening and found to be Mtb GS inhibitors, exhibiting activities in the millimolar range. Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine analogues were also investigated as Mtb GS inhibitors. The chemical functionality, size requirements and position of the substituents in the imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine hit were investigated, and a chemical library was designed based on a focused hierarchical design of experiments approach. The X-ray structure of one of the inhibitors in complex with Mtb GS provided additional insight into the structure–activity relationships of this class of compounds. Finally, new α-arylated fosmidomycin analogues were synthesized as inhibitors of Mtb DXR, exhibiting IC50 values down to 0.8 µM. This work shows that a wide variety of aryl groups are tolerated by the enzyme. Cinnamaldehydes are important synthetic intermediates in the synthesis of fosmidomycin analogues. These were prepared by an oxidative Heck reaction from acrolein and various arylboronic acids. Electron-rich, electron-poor, heterocyclic and sterically hindered boronic acids could be employed, furnishing cinnamaldehydes in 43–92% yield.

This paper is an investigation into the effect of the bat support conditions on the collision between a baseball and a baseball bat. Bat performance is tested using both machines and human subjects. For the machine tests, a baseball is fired from an air-cannon at a stationary bat, where the bat is either allowed to rotate only or is completely unrestricted after impact. The initial and rebound ball speeds are measured for a range of impact locations. For the human tests, a person swings the bat and hits the ball off of a tee. The bat speed prior to impact and the ball speed after impact are measured. The results for each method of testing are compared, and the final ball speed is found to be independent of the bat support condition.

In the present study, we wished to establish a social defeat stress model in combination with the chronic unpredictable stress model, which is considered a mild stressor to the rodent. In this way, we create a “double hit” model that may more accurately mimic severe stress that is common in both MDD and PTSD. In the present study, residents established dominance over the intruder for 10 consecutive days. In addition, social defeat stress was followed by another stressor given at random times during each day, i.e. chronic unpredictable stress. These unpredictable stressors included 30 min restraint, 1 h shaking/crowding, a cold water swim, a warm water swim or a tipped cage for 24 h. In one cohort of animals, brain tissue was taken 24 h after the last stressor for DNA. In a second cohort, animals were tested on a sucrose preference test in which two bottles containing 0.8% sucrose was placed on their cages for 3 consecutive days (days 8-10 of social defeat stress), and the total amount of sucrose was calculated relative to total volume consumed. Brain tissue analyses revealed significantly elevated DNA oxidation in white matter comparing stressed animals to non-stressed controls, consistent with what has been found in post-mortem white matter from MDD subjects. Further, animals given the social defeat + chronic unpredictable stress demonstrated a deficit in sucrose preference, a natural reward, revealing that these animals were anhedonic as compared to controls. Stressed animals also demonstrated fear of the intruder in a social interaction test performed one day after the social defeat/chronic unpredictable stress was complete. Therefore, it appears that social defeat plus chronic unpredictable stress produces a phenotype relevant to clinical data in humans.

Under de senaste åren har olika företagsskandaler, både i Sverige och utomlands, varit ett uppmärksammat ämne i olika samhällsdebatter. Skandalerna har resulterat i att allmänhetens förtroende för svenskt näringsliv sjunkit. Denna förtroendeproblematik skapade behov av att reglera utövandet av bolagsstyrning, på engelska corporate governance. Kodgruppens uppgift är att utveckla den svenska Koden för bolagsstyrning som infördes 1 juli, 2005 och skall följas av bolag noterade på Nordiska börsen i Stockholm. I dagsläget omfattar Koden bolag noterade på Large Cap med hemvist i Sverige. Drygt ett och ett halvt år efter Kodens införande vill vi undersöka företagens attityd gentemot Koden. Vårt syfte är att ta reda på om det finns konkreta skillnader i attityden mellan små och stora företag, med olika ägarstrukturer och som verkar i olika branscher. Uppsatsen bygger på det hermeneutiska synsättet, då vi har utgått från regelverket och därefter jämfört det empiriska materialet från de bolag vi valt att granska. Våra kvalitativa undersökningar ligger till grund för vår uppsats, eftersom att vi har valt att göra en grundligare undersökning av ett få antal företag. Den teoretiska referensramen i uppsatsen innefattar corporate governance, agentteorin, intressentteorin samt den svenska ägarteorin, vilka samtliga kan kopplas till Svensk kod för bolagsstyrning. Det empiriska materialet är en sammanställning av telefonintervjuer med sakkunniga respondenter med varierade befattningar på fyra noterade bolag, vilka har varit involverade i den företagsinterna implementeringen av Koden. De företag vi har valt att intervjua verkar samtliga i olika branscher, är olika stora och skiljer sig åt i sin ägarstruktur. Deras attityd till Svensk kod för bolagsstyrning har, beroende på dessa tre faktorer, skilt sig åt. I vår undersökning har det framgått att skillnaden främst baseras på företagens storlek och ägarstruktur. This thesis investigates the possibility of improving World Wide Web (WWW) proxy cache performance. Most published research on proxy caches is concerned only with improving the cache hit rate. Improving only the hit rate, however, ignores the actual retrieval times experienced by WWW browser users. This research investigates removal algorithms that consider the time to download a file as a factor.
Our experiments show that a removal algorithm that minimizes only the download time yields poor results. However, a new algorithm is investigated that does provide improved performance over common removal algorithms using three factors --- the speed at which a file is downloaded, the size of the file, and the number of references to the file (the number of hits).
Experiments are conducted with a modified version of the Harvest Cache which has been made available on the Internet from the Virginia Tech Network Research Group's (VT-NRG) home page. WWW traffic from the ".edu" domain is used in all of the experiments. Five different removal algorithms are compared: least recently used, least frequently used, document size, and two new algorithms. Double-hit lymphoma (DHL) arises from Germinal Center (GC) B-cells that undergo chromosomal translocations activating the MYC and BCL2 oncogenes and constitutes an aggressive group of tumors that show dismal prognosis with current therapeutic regimens. Full understanding of the pathophysiology of DHL and its exploitation for pre-clinical development depend upon the availability of a mouse model that faithfully represents the physio-pathological features of the human disease, and in particular its GC origin – a characteristic trait that is missing in the models developed do far. Here, we have pursued this goal by combining conditional lox-stop-lox(lsl)-MYC and lsl-BCL2 alleles with the GC-specific transgene C1-Cre: while either oncogene alone showed limited effects, their co-activation led to the development of fully penetrant lymphomas (median onset of 213 days) that showed a Dark Zone-like GC phenotype and a number of other DHL-like features, including extensive infiltration of multiple organs (e.g. liver, spleen, kidney, lung, brain), high levels of proliferation and apoptosis, and extensive macrophage infiltration. Careful examination by expert pathologists classified these tumors as high-grade B-cell lymphomas, similar to human DHL, and transcriptional profiling confirmed their GCB cell of origin. The tumors were transplantable and expanded in immunodeficient mice while retaining their original GC phenotype. These lymphomas were also stabilized for in vitro growth, thus creating stable DHL cell lines that can be used for further experiments. This model expands the available tools to characterize DHL at the biological, pathological and pre-clinical levels, and shall provide an advanced experimental platform for pre-clinical testing of novel therapeutic combinations. Altogether, these complementary lines of investigation shall provide deep insights into the biology and molecular underpinnings of DHL, and point to new therapeutic solutions against this aggressive lymphoma subtype.

In this thesis, an error analysis based method is proposed to calculate single shot
hit probability (PSSH) values of a fire control system. The proposed method
considers that a weapon and a threat are located in three dimensional space. They
may or may not have relative motion in three dimensions with respect to each
other. The method accounts for the changes in environmental conditions. It is
applicable in modeling and simulation as well as in top down design of a fire
control system to reduce the design cost. The proposed method is applied to a
specific fire control system and it is observed that PSSH values highly depend on
the distance between the weapon and the threat, hence they are time varying.
Monte Carlo simulation is used to model various defense scenarios in order to
evaluate a heuristic developed by Gü<br>lez (2007) for weapon-threat assignment and
scheduling of weapons&rsquo<br>shots. The heuristic uses the proposed method for PSSH
and time of flight computation. It is observed that the difference between the
results of simulation and heuristic depends on the scenario used.

I Sverige kan det ske oväntade krissituationer. Hösten 2010 drabbades flera tusen invånare i Östersunds kommun av att det lokala dricksvattnet förorenats av parasiten cryptosporidium. Östersunds kommun hade ingen tidigare erfarenhet av en sådan omfattande händelse. Några månader senare skedde ett liknande fall i Skellefteå. Vid en sådan krissituation är informationen till invånarna en avgörande faktor för antalet smittade. Personer som inte får ta del av all viktig samhällsinformation, missar lätt hur de ska hantera sin vardag för att slippa bli sjuk av parasiten. Idag är det en brist på lättlästa texter från kommuner gentemot yngre målgrupper. Yngre målgrupper har inte fått samma tillgång till viktig samhällsinformation som personer som vanligtvis läser standardsvenska. Jag har utifrån insamlad data utformat en tilltalande och lättläst broschyr om parasiten cryptosporidium för mellanstadieelever. Syfte har varit att sammanfatta det allra viktigaste som målgruppen måste veta vid en sådan krissituation. Broschyren är till alla Sveriges kommuner, som i sin tur kan dela ut den i tryckt format på grundskolor. Målgruppen ska få möjlighet att bära med sig informationen var de än går och enkelt återkomma till innehållet. Broschyren kan bidra till att fler vet hur en krissituation med parasiten cryptosporidium ska hanteras. På så sätt kan antalet smittade personer minska inför framtida situationer.

In this thesis we are presenting a design-based research aimed to extend an existing mobile-based environment named “Treasure-HIT”. “Treasure-HIT” is an environment which uses the available mobile technology to enable teachers to conduct pedagogical “Treasure Hunt” games for their students. At baseline (January 2013), “Treasure-HIT” was at its early stages and has not yet been officially released; only a few teachers were granted access to it. The goal of this thesis was to test the system with teachres in order to understand the actual needs to detect difficulties and usabily limitations and to improve the system accordingy.The sudy was conducted as a design-based research that included three iterations. Within each iteration we have identified needs expressed by teachers and improved the relevant system features. The outcome of this thesis was the design, development and implementation of 7 different features that increased the usability of the “Treasure-HIT” environment and its potential to effectievy support the creation and enactment of pedagogical location based activities.

Teori: Den effektiva marknadshypotesen, framförallt i dess semistarka form, har utgjort en teoretisk referensram för arbetet. Metod: En kvantitativ deduktiv forskningsansats har tillämpats med eventstudiemetodik som grund. Undersökningen behandlar en femårsperiod mellan 2004-2008 där ett urval av 56 stycken splitar mötte uppsatta kriterier. Dessa delades in i tre undergrupper beroende på bolagens kapitalstorlek vid splitgenomförandet. Kursdata för 250 dagar innan spliten och 250 dagar efter har samlats in för berörda bolag med hänsyn till splitdagen. OMXSPI har använts som jämförelseindex. Resultat: Resultatet tillsammans med hypotesprövning visar att överavkastning i samband med aktiesplit har påträffats för hela populationen under mätperioden. Ett möjligt samband mellan storleken på bolag och omfattningen överavkastning har även upptäckts. Den enskilt största överavkastningen uppmättes på splitdagen. Analys: En analys av resultaten pekar på att marknaden uppfattat aktiesplit som en positiv nyhet och i linje med tidigare forskning har det funnits överavkastning i tiden runt en aktiesplit. Vid uteslutande av en undergrupp som inte klarat hypotestestet kunde sambandet mellan företagsstorlek och omfattningen överavkastning till viss del bekräftas som negativt. Slutsats: Investerare har kunnat generera överavkastning i samband med aktiesplit på Stockholmsbörsen mellan 2004-2008. Resultatet tyder på ett negativt samband mellan företagsstorlek och överavkastning, däremot kan inte sambandet bekräftas tillfullo.<br>Purpose: The study has investigated whether or not stock splits on the Stockholm Stock Exchange during the years 2004-2008 generated positive abnormal return and in such case, has there been any difference in the positive abnormal return depending on firm size. Theory: The efficient market hypothesis, especially in its semi-strong form, has provided a theoretical framework for the essay. Method: A quantitative deductive research approach is applied with event study methodology used as basis. The study concerns a five-year period 2004-2008, where a selection of 56 splits met set criteria. These were divided into three groups depending on their capital size at the split date. The price data for 250 days before the split, and 250 days after were collected for the companies with regard to split day. The same data was collected for OMXSPI that was used as a benchmark. Results: The result together with hypothesis testing shows that positive abnormal return associated with stock split has been found in the overall population. A possible correlation between the firm size and the extent of positive abnormal returns has also been discovered. The single greatest positive abnormal return was measured on the split date. Analysis: An analysis of the results indicates that the market perceived stock split as positive news. There has been a positive abnormal return around the time of a stock split in line with previous research. The exclusion of a subgroup that failed hypothesis test revealed a partly confirmed negative relationship between firm size and the amount of positive abnormal returns. Conclusion: Investors have been able to generate positive abnormal returns in association with stock split on the Stockholm Stock Exchange from 2004 to 2008. The results suggest a negative correlation between firm size and positive abnormal returns, however, the correlation is not fully confirmed.

I Sverige har det under de senaste åren florerat en intensiv debatt i det offentliga samtalet, angående närvaron av tiggande EU-migranter från Östeuropa i svenska städer. Konflikten påvisar att fenomenet tiggeri är något som upplevs som väldigt ovanligt och nytt i Sverige. Syftet med den här studien var därför att utföra en diskursanalys kring hur invånare i Stockholm förstod fenomenet tiggeri under våren 2014. Genom att utföra fenomenologiska livsvärldsintervjuer med 30 stockholmare – en heterogen sampel – identifierades flera övergripande diskurser, då tiggeriet i Stockholm definierades som ett rumsligt fenomen som har överskridit normativa gränsdragningar på den urbana platsen. Närvaron av tiggande EU-migranter verkar ha orsakat en kollektiv ”proteofobi” – rädslan för fenomen som undgår etablerade kategoriseringar. Som en konsekvens av diskursen om det svenska välfärdssamhället, upplever informanterna att de varken är vana vid att känna moraliska obligationer gentemot främlingar, eller att möta fattigdom som manifesterad i vardagslivet. Upplevelsen av att de tiggande migranterna inte beter sig som att vara ”verkligt nödställda”, enligt informanters kollektiva föreställning om ”fattigdom” som en binär annorlunda värld i förhållande till platsen Stockholm/Sverige, leder till uppfattningar om att migranterna inte är tillräckligt transparenta för att förtjäna tillit. Olika orientalistiska diskurser används för att förklara och förstå den tiggande EU-migranten som 'Den Andra'. De tiggande migranternas närvaro i staden visar också att informanter känner sig obekväma med att vara självständiga moraliska agenter i det urbana rummet, och att de globaliseringskrafter som har orsakat fenomenet verkar hota föreställningen om Sverige som ”det goda samhället”.

is deemed to be unsuccessful within the ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij.
A comprehensive study of literature regarding the successful application of project
management within an organisation, was done. This was used to develop a
questionnaire applicable to the ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij, to test the above mentioned
perceptions.
With the analysis of the quantitative and qualitative outcomes of the questionnaire,
opinions and perceptions of the respondents were identified, which should be of interest
to the ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij. These opinions and perceptions undoubtedly influence
the dynamics of the working environment and will in future influence the successful
application of project management within the ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij. Therefore some
areas of concern were identified which need attention before the ARC Infruitec-
Nietvoorbij can be truly successful in the implementation of project management.
With the analysis of the quantitative and qualitative outcomes of the questionnaire, the
results also indicated that "conventional" project management, as applied to the
engineering, architectural and construction fields, can not without further ado, merely be
applied in a research environment and specifically the ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij. The
ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij needs to give specific attention to the development of an own
methodology to apply project management in the ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij. This
methodology needs to be relayed by means of a specific strategy and policy inherent to

opinies en redes uit te bring waarom projekbestuur onsuksesvol is by die LNR Infruitec-
Nietvoorbij.
'n Omvattende literatuurstudie aangaande die suksesvolle aanwending van
projekbestuur in 'n organisasie is gedoen. Die bevindinge uit die literatuurstudie is
aangewend om 'n vraelys te ontwikkel wat van toepassing is op die Landbou
Navorsingsraad Infruitec-Nietvoorbij, om sodoende die bogenoemde persepsies te
toets.
Met die analise van die kwantitatiewe en kwalitatiewe gedeeltes van die vraelys, is
opinies en persepsies van die deelnemers geïdentifiseer wat betekenisvol vir die LNR
Infruitec-Nietvoorbij behoort te wees. Die opinies en persepsies beïnvloed beslis die
funksionaliteit van die werkomgewing en sal ook in die toekoms die suksesvolle
aanwending van projekbestuur in die LNR Infruitec-Nietvoorbij beïnvloed. Daar is 'n
aantal areas geïdentifiseer, waaraan aandag geskenk sal moet word, voordat die LNR
Infruitec-Nietvoorbij werklik suksesvol met projekbestuur sal wees.
Met die analise van die kwantitatiewe en kwalitatiewe gedeeltes van die vraelys het die
resultate ook aangedui dat "konvensionele" projekbestuur soos toegepas in die
ingenieurs-, argitektoniese-, en konstruksievelde, nie summier by die LNR Infruitec-
Nietvoorbij en spesifiek in 'n navorsingsomgewing toegepas kan word nie. Die LNR
Infruitec-Nietvoorbij moet spesifiek aandag skenk aan die ontwikkeling van 'n eie
metodologie. Dié metodologie moet deur middel van 'n spesifieke strategie en beleid in
the LNR Infruitec-Nietvoorbij gepromulgeer word.

I denna studie kommer du som läsare få en inblick i lekar och aktiviteter där barnen har full kontroll över situationen. Studiens syfte är att genom observation synliggöra hur barn begränsar sina kamratkulturer och om det förekommer fördomar eller kränkande behandling när man gör uteslutningar av sina kamrater. I resultatet kan man se hur barnen som observerats är väl medvetna om förskolans regler och värderingar, således förekommer inga trakasserier eller kränkande behandling under lekens gång. Dock använder man sig av subtila och kamouflerade strategier för att styra leken kring såväl lekens utformning till vilka kamrater som får ingå i sin lekkonstellation och således ta sig runt de regler som finns kring kamratskap, t.ex. anpassningar av regeln ”Alla får vara med”. I deras uteslutningar kan man se hur hierarkier har byggts upp och genom sina verbala och icke-verbala språk förtydligar man vilka som kan få tillträde och inte. Utifrån ett sociokulturellt perspektiv är det också sagt att studien inte enbart berättar om barns uteslutningsstrategier utan ger också en bild kring den kultur och de samtal som råder inom förskolemiljön som i sin tur skapar en arena där uteslutningarna sker.<br>In this study you will be able to get a “sneak peek” into the play and game in which the children are the masters. The purpose of this study is through observation show whether children are limiting their play arenas and if children are excluding others by using unethical or stereotypical methods, such as excluding because of age, gender, ethnicity, etc. The results of the observations show that the children of this observation doesn’t use judgmental exclusions however use hidden and camouflaged strategies to adapt the play to match their intentions. By playing by the hierarchic rules of the preschool arena the children are able to choose their wanted playmates, the intentions and the rule of the game itself. The exclusion strategies are subtle and yet so obvious and through their psychical and verbal language they show each other the signs of which you are in the game or not. The children of the study are well aware of the physical and social rules within the preschool and are therefore able to adapt their exclusion strategies by bending the rules, for example the most common “Everybody are allowed to join the game”. With that in mind this study doesn’t only show the exclusion strategies but also the culture and conversations that creates the environment in which these exclusions are performed.

PurposePatients with double-hit lymphoma (DHL) rarely achieve long-term survival following disease relapse. Some patients with DHL undergo consolidative autologous stem-cell transplantation (autoSCT) to reduce the risk of relapse, although the benefit of this treatment strategy is unclear.MethodsPatients with DHL who achieved first complete remission following completion of front-line therapy with either rituximab plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP) or intensive front-line therapy, and deemed fit for autoSCT, were included. A landmark analysis was performed, with time zero defined as 3 months after completion of front-line therapy. Patients who experienced relapse before or who were not followed until that time were excluded.ResultsRelapse-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) rates at 3 years were 80% and 87%, respectively, for all patients (n = 159). Three-year RFS and OS rates did not differ significantly for autoSCT (n = 62) versus non-autoSCT patients (n = 97), but 3-year RFS was inferior in patients who received R-CHOP compared with intensive therapy (56% v 88%; P = .002). Three-year RFS and OS did not differ significantly for patients in the R-CHOP or intensive therapy cohorts when analyzed by receipt of autoSCT. The median OS following relapse was 8.6 months.Conclusion In the largest reported series, to our knowledge, of patients with DHL to achieve first complete remission, consolidative autoSCT was not associated with improved 3-year RFS or OS. In addition, patients treated with R-CHOP experienced inferior 3-year RFS compared with those who received intensive front-line therapy. When considered in conjunction with reports of patients with newly diagnosed DHL, which demonstrate lower rates of disease response to R-CHOP compared with intensive front-line therapy, our findings further support the use of intensive front-line therapy for this patient population.

In this thesis, mathematical modeling and heuristic approaches are developed for surface-to-air weapon-target allocation problem with time varying single shot hit probabilities (SSHP) against linearly approaching threats. First, a nonlinear mathematical model for the problem is formulated to maximize sum of the weighted survival probabilities of assets to be defended. Next, nonlinear objective function and constraints are linearized. Time varying SSHP values are approximated with appropriate closed forms and adapted to the linear model obtained. This model is tested on different scenarios and results are compared with those of the original nonlinear model. It is observed that the linear model is solved much faster than the nonlinear model and produces reasonably good solutions. It is inferred from the solutions of both models that engagements should be made as late as possible, when the threats are closer to the weapons, to have SSHP values higher. A construction heuristic is developed based on this scheme. An improvement heuristic that uses the solution of the construction heuristic is
also proposed. Finally, all methods are tested on forty defense scenarios. Two fastest solution methods, the linear model and the construction heuristic, are compared on a large scenario and proposed as appropriate solution techniques for
the weapon-target allocation problems.

Back and forth is a study on wayshowing at events focusing on the Siesta festivalin Hässleholm. For several years the interest in festivals has increased, whichhas contribute to expansion among festivals. The Siesta festival in Hässleholm istoday one of the major festivals in Sweden, attracting 10 000 visitors each year.The festival’s strong expansion has contributed to disorientation in the festivalarea, because it has never been constant from year to year. A side effect of this isthat the orientation is a constant problem.Therefore this study aims to investigate how a clearer route guidance systems onthe Siesta Festival can be designed based on existing designprinciples onguidance and orientation and how the information can be accessable towheelchair users and those with some kind of colourblindness?Surveys among festival visitors and interviews with the festival organizers for thefestival showed which navigation strategies that are most used on festivals. Thestudies also showed that respondents perceived that festival information may beunclear or inadequate. Interviews with the Siesta festival organizers showed howthe festival worked with availability, it also emerged that the Siesta festival mustadapt to local area and therefore can not hold a constant festival area.Based on theories of wayfinding systems, cognitive frames of reference fororientation and based on studies of this report a sign system was designed todirect festival visitors at the Siesta Festival. The sign system is based on adirectional sign, where the sign in it´s form shows direction, and at a higherheight in the context the information gets visible and legible through twolanguages.The conclusions of this report is that further studies and evaluations is needed tobe done to examine how this propose work in kontext and towards thetarget group. Festivalens starka expandering har bidragittill att festivalområdet aldrig har varit konstant från år till år och en bieffekt avdetta har blivit att orienteringen är ett ständigt problem.Arbetet syftar till att undersöka hur ett tydligare vägvisningssystem påSiestafestivalen kan utformas utifrån befintliga designprinciper kring vägvisningoch orientering och hur informationen dessutom kan göras tillgänglig förrullstolsbundna och de med någon form av färgblinhet?Genom enkätundersökningar bland festivalbesökare och vid intervjuer medfestivalarrangörer för festivalen framkom vilka navigeringsstrategier som ärmest använda på festival. Studierna visade också att respondenterna uppfattadeatt festivalinformation kan vara otydlig eller otillräcklig. I intervjuerna medSiestafestivalens arrangörer framgick på vilket sätt festivalen arbetattillgänglighet, det framgick också att festivalen får anpassa sig till närområdetoch därför kan inte hålla ett konstant festivalområde.Utifrån tidigare teorier om vägvisningssystem och kognitiva referensramar förorientering samt efter studierna i detta arbete formgavs ett skyltsystem för attleda festivalbesökarna på Siestafestivalen rätt. Skyltsystemet bygger på en formav ”directional sign” där skylten i sin form visar vägriktning, och med en högrehöjd för sammanhanget blir skyltningen synlig och tydlig genom två språk.Slutsatserna för arbetet är att vidare studier och utprovningar behövs göras föratt undersöka hur förslaget fungerar i sammanhanget och mot målgruppen.Även material och konstruktion bör ses över och studeras vidare.

Due to the memory of being abandoned, Lin Xiao-Mei was on the outs with her mother. Lin Xiao-Mei’s classmate, Bai Yi-Xiang, had the symptoms of Asperger Syndrome and the special power of seeing ghosts. Lin Xiao-Mei helped Bai Yi-Xiang overcome his communication barriers caused by Asperger Syndrome and adapt to the school life, and also assisted him with a series of supernatural events about ghosts. They both became mature from these supernatural events and understood the virtue of caring the weak and their families. In the end, Lin Xiao-Mei made up with A-Yu and accepted the fact that she was a child of a new immigrant, and they lived happily ever after.

碩士<br>國立東華大學<br>光電工程學系<br>99<br>In this thesis, we have investigated the structure of HIT (hetero-junction with intrinsic thin-layer) for solar cells and photodetectors. We consulted many references and corrected our models to obtain the most reasonable efficiency, Voc and Isc. Then, we looked into the influence of the thickness of the top intrinsic hydrogenated amorphous Si (a-Si:H(i)) layer or bulk crystalline Si(c-Si) on p-type Si HIT solar cells. We also studied the thickness effect on the photodetectors with the HIT structure. The research was done by the simulation tool, Santarus TCAD.
The study is divided into two parts：
1. We investigated the HIT solar cell structure on the p-type c-Si wafer. First, we fixed the thickness of bulk c-Si at 250 μm, and then we optimized the thickness of the top a-Si:H(i). The results indicated that the efficiency was optimized with a 40-nm-thick a-Si:H(i) layer. We also optimized the structure with the bulk c-Si of 1.5 μm thick. The results indicated that the thickness of a-Si:H(i) layer is optimized with 40 nm as well.
2. We applied Sanyo’s HIT solar cell structure on the n-type c-Si wafer to photodetectors. The performance of HIT photodetectors at the representative wavelengths of visible and near-infrared light was investigated. We also optimized the thickness of bulk c-Si and a-Si:H(i) to get the larger responsivities. The results indicated that the different detection wavelengths need different thicknesses of materials.

Method: Using two kinds of guns that were P700 and P60 as well as three kinds of lead bullets that were RWS_45, RWS_53 and H&N_53 as the objects of study to generate the analysis of diversity of scatters with the guns in original factory air output and adjustment air output. Proceeding statistical test by using SPSS V18 and methods of t-test and analysis of variance, respectively. Result: Firstly, the scatters were generated by different kinds of guns, the parts of P60 were surpassing P700. Therefore, there was no significant difference in scatter of adjustment air output. Secondly, the scatters were generated by different kinds of bullets, three kinds of lead bullets in original air output and adjustment air output. There was no significant difference no matter what kinds of guns have been used. Thirdly, the scatters were generated by different kinds of bullets under different kinds of guns. The result would be P60 was surpassing P700. There was no significant difference with others. Fourth of all, the scatters were generated by different kinds of guns under different kinds of bullets, three kinds of lead bullets in original air output were shot by using P700 There was significant difference with others; on the other hand, three kinds of lead bullets in adjustment air output were shot by using P60 There was significant difference with others. There was no significant difference with other scatters. Conclusion: To analyze different kinds of guns in original air output and adjustment air output under the parts of conditions. For the guns, P60 was surpassing P700. For the ammunitions, there was no significant difference with On the other hand, That means not only stabilizing but also improving athletic performance of air rifle shooters when P700 with RWS_45, P60 with RWS_53 and H&N_53.
