Balmont, Alexis. "Essai de caractérisation théologique des textes chrétiens chinois de 635 à 1006". Electronic Thesis or Diss., Université Paris sciences et lettres, 2024. http://www.theses.fr/2024UPSLP029.
Testo completoThis research takes part in the recent academic debates concerning the authenticity, dating and attribution of the Takakushu and Tomioka manuscripts from the Tonkō hikyū collection 敦煌秘笈 (« secret collections of Dunhuang ») of the Kyōu shooku Library (杏雨書屋蔵) from Osaka, Japan (n°459 and 460), containing the Discourse on the One-God (Yishenlun 一神論) and the Classic of the Listening of the Messiah (Xuting Mishisuo jing序聽迷詩所經). Before 2000, these two Chinese Christian texts were accepted as authentic and dated to the 7th century ; they are nowadays considered doubtful. Based on a synchronic study of all the seven Chinese Christian texts today accessible and an attempt to characterize their theological sensitivities, this work provides new internal elements in favor of their authenticity. It also calls into question the widely accepted presupposition of the historical continuity of a single Christian community at the origin of all texts, and ends up proposing a new name for the corpus. The study is based on a critical edition and an annotated working translation of the seven Chinese Christian texts dated between 635 and 1006

Testo completoThe purpose of this study is to perform a synchronic dynamic description of the Chinese language (putonghua). It essentially focuses on the syntaxic phenomenons linked to the predicate without forgetting the study of the synthematics allowing to report on the distinction between syntaxic basic units and syntagmatic elements. Five lexical classes (nouns, pronouns, verbs, ambivalents and adjectives) emerge from their compatibility and are successively examined through their capacity to assume the predicate role. Two types of predicate that determine differently the organisation of a message are presented in nuclear syntax and connectif syntax. The syntaxic structures and the ergative character have been studied too. This research on the predicate leads to discover the syntaxic fonctions that the other constituent elements are able to fulfil in respect to the center of the sentence. The semantic aspect hasn't been thrusted aside since the dichotomic analysis of the predicate brings together syntax and semantics where syntaxic functions and semantic roles are woven together while keeping their singularity

Testo completoAristotle’s Categories is one of the first Western philosophical texts translated into Chinese. Since Jesuit missionaries introduced scientific thoughts into China in the 17th century, Chinese literati have shown a strong interest in the demonstration method that was originated in Aristotelian logic. This dissertation presents a detailed study of the Chinese translation Ming li tan, with the aim of addressing several issues on the relationship between language and thought. Chapter 1 is an overview of the historical and cultural environment in which the translation took place. Chapter 2 presents our approach to comparative philosophy. Chapter 3 discusses the translation of the title “Ming li tan”. The term “ming li” is used as a translation of the word “logic”, but is actually composed of terms referring to Chinese philosophical doctrines which deal with problems fundamentally different from those of the Aristotelian logic. Chapters 4 and 5 provide a detailed commentary of the Chinese translation of the first chapter of Categories, focusing in particular on three notions: homonym, synonym and paronym. We conclude our work with a discussion on the translation of the verb “to be” and its derivatives (e.g., being, substance), and explain the reasoning behind its various Chinese renditions. Our central claim is that what is lost in translation is less the literal meaning of word “to be” than its syntax and the way of thinking underlying the use of this word. The focus on translation provides a unique approach to studying linguistic relativism and linguistic and cultural pluralism. A good understanding of these issues is crucial for improving the intercultural dialogue

Testo completoSince China's confrontation with the West, the Chinese people have been experiencing an identity crisis which has caused a general disaffection with traditional identity. Difficulties experienced under maoi͏̈sm also contributed to rendering Chinese identity construction problematic. The philosophical void which has grown ever larger since 1966 continues to enfeeble efforts to renew ties with the humanist tradition of Chinese thought. The phenomenon of conversion of many Chinese immigrants to Christianity is quite significant in many American cities. In order to better analyse this phenomenon, we attempt to understand the principal convergence between Chinese thought and Christian thought. Through a sociological and psychosocial study, we see how the "Great Harmony" in Chinese American Christian identity construction can become a reality through the interiorisation of certain Chinese and Christian values

Testo completoCantonese opera is one of the most important of chinese main opera types. It uses the cantonese language and is spread throughout Guandong, Guangxi and a among overseas cantonese - speaking chinese in South - Asia and north and North America. Opera performances in the canton area can be traced to as early as the fourteenth century. Since the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, although opera flourished, the language used was still manderin, it is impossible to speak of it as "cantonese opera". At the beginning of this century "idealistic opera troupes" (called zhish) launched a reform mouvement in canton, Hong-Kong and Macao, singing and speaking in the cantonese language on original revolutionary themes. Their reform gained local troupes who helped spread the use of cantonese in opera. In the 20's the troupes form canton and HongKong were influenced by western drama, stage production and cinema, giving birth to modern cantonese opera which reached its peak in the 20' and 30's and began its decline as early as the 40's. This thesis also discusses cantonese opera in rural communities and its present conditions

Testo completoWe have studied the life and works of Gu Cheng, a contemporary Chinese poet in this these. With a century of distance, he was born and dead nearly the same year as Rimbaud. As did Rimbaud's works for French poetry, a century earlier, we have showed that Gu Cheng's works marked an important turning- point in history of Chinese poetry. Gu Cheng himself divided his poet life in four great parts. We went through our study by following these four parts. In each of them, we examined in details his biography as well as the most significant poems, about which we made a commentary on the form and the matter. Then we pointed out which is similar between Gu Cheng and Rimbaud: they are both objectf and "voyant" poets, insatiable of Liberty and Beauty. For both of them, the suffering is terrible, in creator act as well as in their lives, since they were looking for a "total experience". They both exposed themselves to the risk of hermetism from which they won't escape. They were two immense solitude, two broken lives as if the very greatness of genius has to be paid "cash". Testo completoOur thesis deals with the cultural history of the French ↔ Chinese bilingual dictionaries. Our aim is to examine the history of dictionaries through their publishers, lexicographers and printers in order to find characteristics of the selected corpus and to establish a typology of the inventoried dictionaries. This study provides ideas for future work on French and Chinese bilingual lexicography. Our work is divided into two parts : historical study and metalexicographical study. In the historical analysis, a reminder of the chinese history is given at the outset to expose a panorama of the study’s context. The following chapters deal with questions concerning the emergence of bilingual dictionaries in China and their development, publishers and printers, and lexicographers. In the metalexicographic part, emphasis is placed on paratexts, macrostructures, nomenclatures and microstructures. Our research has contributed to the study of French and Chinese bilingual lexicographic

Testo completoThe text from ernst troeltsch (1865-1923), the social teaching of the christian churches (1912), is the major theoretical work on which my thesis is based on. This german theologist has completed a comprehensive study of the social doctrines of christian religion, from their evangelical origins to the eighteenth century. He made his task to relate, in the capacity of en historian, the successive theories and attitudes of christianism towards the secular world. The perspective that is of interest to me is the one that encompasses the social and political principles of christian religion, the troeltsch's analysis is particularly relevant from this point of view. Before studying his results, a first part is dedicated do the history of the conflict between faith and reason from the 12th to the 19th centuries. This development lightens the tentative that troeltsch has made to conciliate the apologetical and scientifical approaches, that is the views of both the theologist and the historian. In his work, troeltsch evidenced the existence of two main christian social doctrines : the catholic social philosophy is based on the patriarcal and organic ideas and is a conservative doctrine to which lutheranism is linked, in as much as it also defines an unitarian civilization ; ascetic protestantism emerged from the conjunction of the neo-calvinist movement and the protestant sects. The latter is considered by troeltsch as the only christian form which can be related, from certains aspects, to the capitalist and democratic society

Testo completoThe Thesis of the doctorate, which we elaborated, concerns the religious history of the Armenian high plateau. According to its title «The pre-Christian substratum and the Armenian conversion to Christianity», it is going to shed a light on the religious, liturgical, cultural, anthropological, sociological and historic vision, as well as the philological study of the people of the Armenian high plateau generally and the Armenian people specifically. The scope of this dissertation is to study the field of the religion: the sociology, the history, the liturgy, the mythology and the anthropology following the traditions, the customs, the myths, the feasts, the superstitions as well as the key elements which define the culture of the religion. In our study, the purpose of our research will be to see which pagan Armenian religious elements were passed onto Christianity from the time of the conversion. In the first four chapters of the thesis, we are going to study the Armenian mythology, which have been practiced by the Armenian people, as to almost all the ancient civilizations. The political and geographical situation of Armenia played a significant role to create its rich vision of the religion. The Armenian view of religion, being an amalgamation of local and non local faiths, evolved through various periods. Even before the cult of idolatry, Armenia was under the influence of the religions and the cults of the nearby nations. These nations were the Assyrians, the Chaldeans, the Babylonians, the Acadians, the Persians and the Greeks, with whom the Armenians maintained linguistic, spatial, ethnic or subordination relations. Under the influence of foreign policy, the vision of Armenian religion being a mixture with the local religions had its unique character. Through the thesis, we are going to analyze the scope of the religion: the spiritual powers, represented by the divinities, the spirits, the forefathers, the sacred places, the trees, waters, fires, and animals. Later, we are going to study the subject of the religion: the man (king and priest), the religious community (clan, Church, sect, secret society), and the spiritual elements of the man (soul). Finally, we are going to quote the expressions of the religious experience: ideals (faiths, myths, doctrines) and practices (cults, rites, feasts, magical acts). By studying «The pre-Christian substratum and the Armenian conversion to Christianity», we concluded that by trying to eradicate the «profane», a «sacred» system was created. In our study, we have made a reflection on the policy of «armenisation» of the foreign elements, and also on what has passed in the realm of the faith. The vision of the Armenian people regarding to mankind, the world, and the God formed a system of beliefs: the myths, the rituals and the worship, which survived and were transmitted from generation to generation in the form of tradition. The manner by which such elements are transmitted are essentially the spoken traditions, the repetition of the worship and the ritual techniques through imitation and learning. Seemingly, the spiritual inheritance of paganism was replaced by the Christian legacy, but in reality had taken place a sublimation of the previous heritage. On the bases of the pagan culture and the ruins of the pagan religion, the Church put its foundations. The Church was established practically thanks to the invention of the alphabet in 5th century, which was called the golden age, it favored the growth of the Armenian Church and the prosperity of the people

Derivedfrom the first archaic unit-nouns and incorporated into the vernacular during the pre-medieval period (secondfirst century b. C. ), chinese classifiers appear most frequently in the context of qunantifying the unit, while semantically they are employed for stylistic and rhetorical purposes. Traditionally interpreted as un change in word order, their two syntactic positions -- before and after the noun -- occur simultaneously throughout the history of the chinese language, and indicate, in fact, two kinds of quantification, general and specific respectively

Testo completoShen jiaben (1840-1913) is known both as the introducer of western law in china and as the last imperial jurist. This thesis aims to unify these two aspects, the trends of recent historiography tendend to dissociate. The first part describes shen's career as official at the board of punishment, and his work as imperial commissioner for the revision of legislation. The second part is an analytical description of legal treatises circulating during the nineteenth century. The third part reconstitutes the evolution of legal system as viewed by qing jurists. The clear distinction of penal and administrative laws was confused by the disruptive effect of precedents (li). From the end of the eighteenth century on, scholars like yuan mei advocated for the return to the simplicity of the lu. Wue yunsheng's duli cunyi and the revision of imperial code by shen jiaben are directly inherited from those. Western law had no influence on chinese jurists until the hundred days reform. Afterwards, westernization and achievement of chinese trends of legal reform were jointly performed. At last, some of shen's writings, translated and commented, present a scope of what he called : "the melting of old and new, chinese and western laws"

Testo completoThe topic of my thesis is the analysis of the chinese translations of Montale's poems, first published in China in 1978. First of all, translation problems of linguistic nature are taken into consideration : difficulties in identifying the syntactical structure of the original text and in selecting the meaning of a polysemous word; problems with the tenses and the moods of the italian vebs; the question of indefinite subjects and connectors. The thesis focuses then on problems of literary nature : how the Chinese translators have dealt with the different cultural background and its literary implications. The third part is devoted to the problems connected with Montale's style and language : the determination put after the determinate, the ironic tune and the jumble of registers. The textual analysis of the poems Corno inglese, Meriggiare pallido e assorto. . . , La casa dei doganieri, and Dora Markus is given in the last part, to exemplify how it has been carried on for the whole body of translations

Testo completoMany western film scholars have strong interest to the Chinese contemporary movie, but, rarely they devotes to the films of the first half of the 20s century. This study proposes a reflection on a field of study that is the Chinese film melodrama during the Republican period (1911-1949), a field of study which is utterly neglected in France. It envisages a revaluation on the movies often called "realist" and "revolutionary". Chinese melodramatic films possess multiple faces: its stereotyped style (the victim, the traitor, the miserabilism and the Manichaeism), its hybrid nature (Chinese heritage and western influences), and contradictory messages (conservative for some people, revolutionaries for others). Despite its propagandistic character, melodrama is considered as one of the most popular gender by both the Chinese people and intellectuals

Testo completoA global approach of the classic vietnamese language through its lexical and syntaxic dimensions. In the absence of any studies in european language on this subject, which might have provided us a starting point, we assumed that an approach aiming to extricate the syntaxic laws of classical vietnamese from vietnamese translations of chinese texts and the comparaison of this texts to each others constituted the simplest and surest approach. The conditions required for these translations were first identified and qualified as "minimal". Indeed, these texts are translations of classical chinese texts in classical vietnamese, complying to minimal modifications of the chinese text, giving back, however, a text in a correct vietnamese. Moreover, the classical chinese and vietnamese common quality of being analytic and monosyllabic languages, whom semantic structure is insured by function words, allowed us this kind of approach. For exemple, in the verse taken randomly from Nguyên Trai, 朋 碎 市 所 益 蒸 民, bằng tôi nào thửa ích chưng dân, "what is the usefulness of a man like me for the people?", the question is to know what is the role of the function words 朋, 所, 蒸 translated respectively by bằng, thửa, chưng. In the absence of any reference, the question cannot be answered. Our word hypothesis is that if this verse were the translation of the chinese verse, these function words 朋, 所, 蒸 would be the translation of chinese function words whom function in the chinese sentence would allow us to infer the corresponding one in the vietnamese sentence. Furthermore, the choice of chinese texts, that had been translated at different periods (XVth and XVIth centuries), gave to our study a diachronic value, that allowed us to address several aspects of vietnamese language evolution. The question of the vietnamese characters formation or Nôm was addressed with two perspectives: a chronological perspective first, complemented by a heuristic perspective. In the chronological perspective, we described the initial attemps of the first vietnamese translaters, that were supposed to express their own language from chinese characters, that were not necessarily suited to the vietnamese phonetic. This period, that we qualified as pre-classical, is characterized lexically by a form of relative bisyllabism, abondoned latter on, and by a important use of borrowings, that were detrimental to the creation of new proper vietnamese characters. The heuristic perspective showed us that the problematic of Nôm characters formation (that should have developed after the initial attemps of the pre-classical period) was the same problematic as the one underlying the formation of the chinese characters. We can conclude that vietnamese or chinese characters belong to a common corpus. Finally, Nôm characters are just an extension of chinese characters for the use of vietnamese language. Nothing would have forbidden to the chinese language to use Nôm characters if needed. Also, practically speaking, this study will favor the compilation of a common dictionnary which would be that of a common language

They were involved in the process which ended with the settlement of self-governing principalities, for example Ruthenia and Moldavia. But their apostolate led them to an opening out to native cultures. In Italian settlements, they mainly carried on their ministry among catholic communities. Mother countries did not tolerate the missionaries' proselytism and strictly controlled local churches. The main purpose of local officers was indeed social peace. This policy resulted in a peaceful cohabitation of all the religious communities and the melting of upper classes. In other countries, the Dominican proselytism was exerted among upper elites. It brought about both several conversions to the catholic faith among members of the byzantine court and holding of the council of Florence (1439). The heart of the mission was the sudium

Testo completoThis thesis intends to clarify some aspects of the translation of dramatic works. Through studies of dramatic texts and analysis of translation theories, based on Chinese translations of two French plays, we try to present the problematics of theatrical translation. We conclude that the object of theatrical translation is to re-establish the original work's scene conception. Thus theatrical knowledge and a good translation method are indispensable for the translator. This study recapitulates the principles of the Interpretative Theory of translation, and proposes its application in the process of theatrical translation

Testo completoThe arrival of the sound film became economical and technological challenges to Chinese cinema. The first challenges with which the Chinese film industry had to be confronted were to equip the cinemas with sound projection materials. Chinese film companies had spent a lot of money on multitude systems in the sound film production since 1930. From 1930 to 1935, several film genres coexisted: silent films, films with songs, talkies and films accompanied with music. The sound has evolved in these films. In 1935, the sound film was generalized. The arrival of the sound film became also cultural challenges to Chinese cinema. Chinese film companies had to choose a dialect which could be used in the films. There were opposite opinions between the traditionalists who rooted in traditional opera and the modernists who stemmed from occidental theatre. Popular songs or patriotic songs appeared in the films while some critics were against the sound film in the domestic press. Chinese cinema faced also numerous aesthetic challenges with the arrival of sound film. The style of the film directors had been evolved from silent films to sound films while various sound experiments on dialogue, sound effects and music had been carried out

Testo completoThe above title is not the title of a thesis, but expresses the actual axis of the set of studies that i am presenting to obtain the state doctorate, and the three quarters of which are about this very range of research: whence the title chosen for the synthesis of my expose general. Those studies consist in 19 articles and 3 books, namely: penseurs musulmans et religions iraniennes: "abd al-jabbar et ses devanciers, paris 1974 (etudes musulmanes, xvi); islam et religions, paris 1986 (islam d'hier et d'aujourd'hui, 27); the parts dealing with jews, christians, mazdaeans and dualists in al-shahrastani, livre des religions et des sectes, ist part: "islam and other scriptural religions", translation with introduction and foot-notes by daniel gimaret and guy monnot, to be published in leuven, december 1986. "muslim history of religions" intends here to refer as a whole to the writings in which muslims showed their concern and recorded their attitude of mind about religions other than islam. This study is extended up to the beginning of our century. Three fields have chiefly attracted the research of muslim authors and made clear their views. 1e, christianism. Our contribution consists here, besides synthetic views, in the study of the corresponding works of "abd al-jabbar and of shahrastani. 2e,"iranian dualisms", that is mazdaeism of the majus, and manichaeism. We have paid much attention to this field: a copiously annotated translation of shahrastani, but also the translation and study, utterly new, of the corresponding writings of the three great kalam authors in the ivth century of the h. : maturidi, baqillani, "abd al-jab. 3e,multifarious hinduism. There, our results remain very modest. The embracing study of this literature allowed us to see it in a more scientific way: "genres litteraires", interference of personal motivations, subordination of factual knowledge to the koran, old stereotypes

Testo completoAuguste Champetier de Ribes, a catholic middle-class Parisian lawyer became involved in catholic social action as soon as 1908. Seriously disabled after the First World War, he decided to focus his catholic social ideal on politics, on Christians democrats' side. He became a deputy from 1924 to 1934, then a senator of the "Basses-Pyrénées" and was one of the founders of the popular democratic party that he lead as soon as 1929. André Tardieu and Pierre Laval’s minister of pensions from 1930 to 1932, he was the first to create the combatant pension. Worried about the rise of fascist regimes, this centrist advocated firmness faced with dictatorships. He was on friendly terms with the Basques during the Spanish civil war and was a great figure of the anti-Munich movement as well as the under-secretary of state at the Foreign Office during the Phoney war. He vainly worked on an agreement with the Vatican at the French Foreign Office in order to deal with the issue about secularism. Champetier was one of the 80 members of Parliament to refuse the constituent powers to Pétain on July, 10 1940. As a resistance fighter he was interned from December, 02 1942 to June, 08 1944. At the liberation, as the was hostile to the MRP, he resumed his political action in 1946 only after being the public prosecutor of his country at the Nuremberg trial
Nogueira, Ramos Martin. "Crypto-christianisme et catholicisme dans la société villageoise japonaise (XVIIe-XIXe)". Paris 7, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014PA070088.
Testo completoThis study is about Catholic and hidden Christian village communities in Japan during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. My aim was to determine if these communities, due to their particular religious background, presented distinguishing features in their social and economical organization and also to think about the importance of religion to the daily life of the peasantry. My work is divided into six chapters. The first one, which is about the 17th century, shows how the feudal authorities set up antichristian repression and how Christians organized themselves to face it. The second, which concerns the organization of hidden Christian communities during the period of secrecy (end of 17th century-1865), and the third, which is related to the propagation of Catholicism in the region of Nagasaki between 1865 and the beginning of the 1870s, present the high level of organization of this population and its extreme mobility. In the fourth chapter, I study the beliefs of the 19 h century hidden Christians and Catholics. The firth chapter is centered on the reaction of shogunal and imperial authorities to the resurgence of the Christian question between 1865 and 1873, the year in which toleration of this religion begins. The last chapter is about affirmation of Catholicism and its clergy in the village society of Kyūshū between 1873 and the granting of freedom of religion in 1889. Representative documents of the primary sources used for this study are included (peasants' accounts, missionary correspondence, administrative reports) in the appendix
Liang, Wei. "Zaji ou les arts acrobatiques chinois : un voyage entre Chine et France". Thesis, Montpellier 3, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018MON30020.
Testo completoZaji (杂技), which means « various competences » and is sometime translated in French "Acrobatie chinoise", is a form of art at least three thousand years old. To date, there is no French synthesis available to trace its origin, development and evolutions up to the present day. This thesis aims to fill this gap by documenting the subject from a corpus of Chinese and French publications and documentation. The author of the thesis, Chinese to French translator and teacher, has conducted an investigation through her access to documentary resources, exhibits of artifacts and live shows of Chinese acrobatic arts. The thesis provides a synthesis of the results obtained during this survey, presented chronologically in a broad panorama with bibliographical references (250) refrences and iconographical (128).The thesis is composed of three chapters. The first chapter proposes a chronology of the development of the forms of Chinese acrobatics in the context of each dynasty until the last dynasty in 1912, referring to archives and documents in China, including the published and unpublished, original and translations of ancient or contemporary texts. This chapter is completed with the assistance from historians of Zaji such as Professor Fu Quifeng, as well as the support of Nanjing Library. By confronting problems of translations, the thesis makes it accessible to French readers a major history of the world's oldest performing arts. The second chapter examines the integration and reception of Chinese acrobatics in France from senventeenth century to twentieth century and its influences on French theatre, particularly in the fashion of the "Chinoiserie", then go through reciprocal exchanges during the Republic of China until the rebound of Chinese acrobatics in the twentieth century after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, specifically its new artistic forms and cultural codes, the political messages it conveys, the invitation of Chinese artists to circus festivals in France and Monaco. The third part briefly outlines the perspectives of Sino-French artistic collaboration in circus in the twenty-first century, observes the contribution of Chinese acrobats on the contemporary scene and the influences of the Western live show on contemporary Chinese acrobatics, to finally questions the future of Chinese acrobatics by applying the results of this documentary trip between two cultures, to open the conclusion of this thesis: a French-Chinese circus and acrobatic festival will be organized by the author to explore the artistic and innovating future of Zazi

Testo completoOur research is composed of three chapters. In the first chapter, we will study the origins of the crisis of a contemporean Haitian. In fact, the "voodoo" which has always be the point of reference through which a contemporean Haitian takes conscience of his problems, has been useful to us to understand the causes of the social sickness and also the different abortive trials by the social leaders who have tried to resolve it. The second chapter is particularly concerned with showing how the modern Haitian was very much conditioned by his past. In fact, it seemed to us that when he changes his religious convictions from the "voodoo" to that of Christianity and comes back again to "voodoo", the contemporean Haitian is bewildered: hence the social sickness. Finally, the third chapter tries to analyze the unfolding of the crisis. . . And to find out a new way that can make it understandable to an average religious Haitian

Testo completoThe dissertation studies the transformations of the legends of two popular Chan masters undergone when turned into full-length vernacular novels during the 17th century. The first part deals with a novel entitled "Expelling the devils and restoring proper social relationships, or the Salvation of the East" (Saomei dunlun dongdu ji), published in Suzhou in 1635. While taking the Chan patriarch Bodhidharma's travels from India to China as its narrative framework, the novel develops in 100 chapters an allegory of moral progress through the strict observance of the five cardinal relationships. The Dhyâna master uses his unique awakening techniques in order to lead stray humans towards moral salvation. The second part focuses on the rewriting process affecting the legend of monk Daoji (Crazy Ji), as apparent in the 1668 novel "The Story of Fermented Dhûta" (Qu toutuo zhuan). This text introduces itself as a critical commentary of earlier versions of the saint's legend, and further turns their themes of Dhyâna masters, with their picturesque ways of teachings, are here portrayed as heralds of Confucian ethics. This characterises the above novels as a peculiar moment in the history of Chinese transformation of Buddhism. The dissertation studies not only the discourse of the novels, but also their publishing story, the identity and purpose of their authors as well as their reception. Both works are shown to have emerged at the meeting point between the two genres of literati novel and moral tract
Zhao, Haifeng. "Le cinéma muet chinois. Etude sur le langage cinématographique". Thesis, Paris 3, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012PA030028/document.
Testo completoThe earliest film in China was the documentary of Chinese opera. It was the first time that the film language appeared in Victims of Opium of 1916. In the 1920s, the Chinese film industry came into being, building up many film studios and producing a quantity of Hollywood style feature films. The production of Chinese silent films had never stopped until the 1930s, when the concept of mise en scène had begun to pay attention to the continuity of time and space, showing the concept of modern film. As for the motion photography, the rational concepts of time and space in the West have been revealed in SUN Yu’s films while FEI Mu has created the implicit images by using motion photography. Thus, in the 1930s, there were three major types of film aesthetic tendencies: the dramatic films, Hollywood-style films and the films with Chinese traditional aesthetic tendency. In the silent era of films, the tradition had become the apparent aesthetic tendency in Chinese films, but it hadn’t developed into the mature film style. Not until the beginning of the 1940s of sound films had this tendency become a distinct national characteristic, which were keeping the integrity of single shot, frequently using le plan-séquence and ongoing motion photography. Chinese traditional opera and paintings have great influence on this film aesthetics, which shows Chinese traditional aesthetics revealed in the film art. The tradition in Chinese films has also been shown in today’s Chinese films; however, it is a style of the art film rather than the film aesthetics of those hot commercial films
Terrien, Marie-Pierre. "La christianisation de la région rhénane du IVe siècle au milieu du VIIIe siècle". Tours, 1998. http://www.theses.fr/1998TOUR2014.
Testo completoThis thesis explores the beginning of Christianization in the towns of Rhineland, drawing on and confronting both archaeological remains of churches and primary written sources. It attemps to study the problem of the martyrs of Rhineland and to establish if the legends are justified by history. It wants to clarify some aspects of Christianity in the fourth century and to review written sources in the light of the archeological material (chapter I). The next part of this chapter studies wether there was a break or a continuity in the towns of The Rhineland during the fifth century, with special reference to Christian inscriptions and graves's items, which were found in or around churches. Chapter II studies the expansion of Christianity during the sixth and seventh centuries in the small towns and in the countryside. And it tries to approach the problem of the adjustment of the Germanic world both to the roman world and to Christianity. It illustrates the mixing of the two worlds and of their customs, using written sources, inscriptions and iconography. Chapter III is an analysis and an interpretation of the cemeteries of Germany (the so-called Reihengraberfelder), based on the confrontation of French, English and German interpretations. It argues that well-furnished graves do not necessarily reflect the deceased's prestige and the structure of Germanic society, but probably a ritual. The next part of this chapter examines if the presence of artefacts in the grave and the mode of burial (cremation, inhumation. . . ) can be interpreted as an indication of ethnicity and of religion. Its aim is to suggest that furnished graves are not necessarily German graves. And that we must distinguish items with real Christian ornament from objects which are not necessarily Christian
