Abstract (sommario):
Although high-quality tourism destinations directly determine the tourism experiences of tourists and the management focuses of tourism management departments, existing studies have paid little attention to the relationship between tourism destinations of differing quality and tourist experiences. This study analyzed the spatiotemporal distribution of tourists and the quality of tourism destinations in Urumqi based on Tencent migration big data and Weibo sign-in big data and ultimately determined whether there are spatial correlations between the two. The results show that there are large differences in quality between different tourist destinations, and although the spatial and temporal distribution of tourists is not strongly correlated with the quality of tourist destinations, we can divide tourist destinations into four categories based on the correlations between the two (e.g., high-quality tourist destinations with a low number of tourists). The results of this study provide tourists with examples of high-quality tourist destinations, thus improving their holiday experiences, and they also provide a basis by which tourism management departments can manage and develop tourist destinations. The results of this study can also be extended to other regions and play a positive role in promoting the development of the tourism industry.

Abstract (sommario):
Spatial relationship is the basic perspective of understanding regions. Tourism spatial structure is the spatial projection of tourism activities, reflecting the spatial attributes and interrelationships of tourism activities. In this paper, taking Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture as an example, we identified the objective and subjective tourism spatial structure of Gannan Prefecture based on the GIS spatial analysis function and using objective and subjective tourist attractions as the spatial object element. Then, the tourism spatial network was reconstructed. Results are as follows. (1) Both objective and subjective tourist attractions in Gannan Prefecture exhibit aggregated distribution. Among them, the spatial distribution of objective tourist attractions has a significant trend of contiguous aggregation, showing a relatively higher density in the northeastern and southeastern regions, and a lower density in the central and southwestern regions. This is opposite to that of the subjective tourist attractions. (2) The connectivity and accessibility between objective and subjective tourist attractions in Gannan Prefecture are poor, and only a few tourist attractions form a traffic connection with neighboring ones. (3) The objective tourism spatial network of Gannan Prefecture is layered with aggregation, and presents a significant cohesive development trend. This is opposite to the subjective one. (4) Based on the identification results of objective and subjective tourism spatial structures, the objective and subjective core tourism resources as well as tourist attractions should be integrated, and the road transportation system should be constructed and improved. Then, a high-quality tourism spatial network with ‘three poles, three axes and four groups’ was constructed. This study provides a scientific basis for the tourism spatial development, tourist route organization, the layout of tourism service facilities and product, and tourism spatial optimization in specific regions.

Abstract (sommario):
As a celebreted tourism country, China attracts both domestic and foreign tourists, with its long history, splendid culture, and unique charm. Since the reform and opening up, China has introduced modern commercial management ideas for cultural tourism from abroad, and cultural tourism resources have been fully developed and utilized, greatly enriching the material and cultural life of the people. The author of this paper is passionate in touring and Chinese history and culture. After visiting many tourist attractions in China, it was found that there are some "flaws" in the development and utilization of the domestic cultural and tourism industry. Firstly, the development of cultural and tourism resources is overly commercialized, emphasizing the hardware construction of scenic spots, and neglecting the deep exploration of historical and cultural connotations, resulting in a serious phenomenon of homogenization of scenic spots throughout the country. Only a glimpse can reveal the whole picture. Secondly, there is a serious decoupling between hardware construction and software construction, and there is still significant distance for improvement in the service level of scenic spots. The comprehensive quality of practitioners is not well enough, and they are older in age; Finally, there is a serious talent gap in cultural and tourism related fields, and the development of cultural and tourism professional talents does not match the actual needs. This paper proposes a solution to the problem of decoupling cultural and tourism talent cultivation from actual needs: optimizing the curriculum system, strengthening practical teaching, and promoting the integration of industry, academia, and research.

Abstract (sommario):
PurposeDespite a growing interest in accessible tourism, delivering high-quality tourism experiences to people with disabilities (PwD) remains a major challenge. Beyond a number of acknowledged barriers (e.g. cultural, architectural, relational), the main issue is the lack of coordination amongst the many actors participating in the co-creation of tourism experiences. This paper intends to advance available knowledge on this issue by conceptually suggesting a solution that draws on the concepts of the tourism experience and digital ecosystems.Design/methodology/approachThis paper is developed as a conceptual contribution, drawing also on an illustrative example that considers a tourist with mobility disability as the focal actor.FindingsThe results indicate that a digital ecosystem could contribute to making tourism locations more accessible by enabling information sharing and coordination amongst all actors that co-create the tourism experiences. Moreover, the analysis underlines that tourism locations should be designed to be useable by all people, drawing on the principles of the universal design.Research limitations/implicationsThis paper describes a path to fostering accessible tourism, drawing on local authorities, particularly municipalities and universities. The suggested solution would benefit from future empirical analyses to assess its strengths and weaknesses.Originality/valueBy drawing on the concept of digital ecosystems, this paper is amongst the first studies to suggest a path to making tourism locations more accessible to all tourists (with or without disabilities) based on technology.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper aims to study how the tourism industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area can achieve high-quality development under the background of cultural and tourism integration. As one of the regions with the highest degree of openness and the strongest economic vitality in China, the development of the cultural tourism industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has always been favored by national policies and markets. Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao have a long history and culture, intensive tourism resources, superior geographical location, and excellent infrastructure. However, they still need help with problems such as insufficient integration of cultural and tourism industries, serious homogenization of tourism products, and backward digital talent training models. Therefore, this paper analyzes the correlation between tourism experience, tourist satisfaction, and recommendation intention, and the mediating effect of tourist satisfaction through empirical research, and concludes that the quality of tourism experience can significantly affect tourists' post-trip recommendation intention and can also indirectly affect recommendation intention through tourist satisfaction. Finally, this paper proposes establishing a cultural community, strengthening collaborative exchanges among the three places, breaking the homogenization of tourism products, innovating the tourism digital talent training model, and paying attention to the changes in tourists' needs. By improving the quality of the tourism experience and enhancing tourist satisfaction, we will achieve high-quality and healthy tourism development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Abstract (sommario):
High-quality tourism destinations nowadays become the expectations of tourism stakeholders. However, these quality tourism destinations do not have a definition and key performance indicator that can be used as a measurement indicator, so this research is necessary. This study tries to measure the quality of tourism destinations based on the perspective of Bali tourism respondents. In this survey, the attitude of the respondents was measured using a choice of 5 Likert scales that directly asked their attitude towards various indicators on two elements, namely the tourist quality variable and the destination quality measurement variable. The results of a survey of 200 informants illustrate that the respondents' views on all indicators that are considered as indicators of measuring the quality of tourists and indicators of tourism destinations. They can be used as indicators to measure other destinations with adjustments according to their conditions. The novelty in this studies is three factors that have been formed key factors of tourism destination quality. The first is named the quality beautiful destination and unique attraction. The second factor is named quality tourist spending and respect local culture minded. The third factor is named the quality climate and weather condition and infrastructure.

Abstract (sommario):
This thesis concerns Swedes’ medical tourism to Poland with an indication of  travelling for beauty treatments. Its goal is to study Swedes travelling to Poland because of aesthetic medicine purposes. Trips with medical background, e.g. surgeries, dental treatments or spa/wellness tourism were not taken into account in this assignment. However, in many aspects, some of this data were also included because of the unavailability of more precise sources. The aim has also been to try to reach an insight in what kind of factors and motivations cause that more and more Swedes choose to seek medical help in Poland. The goal has been also to show how the future of this kind of tourism could look like. The study is based on qualitative interviews with clinics and medical centres performing those treatments and patients/customers with such an experience. The theoretical framework concerns laws and regulations, also personal motivations and needs. I came to the conclusion that there are several reasons for people to travel to Poland for medical services: relative low costs of treatment, high quality of service and technology, short waiting periods, insignificant cultural differences and geographical proximity of both of the countries.

Abstract (sommario):
Tourism development in China has been, and still is, based on a "quantitative" model. However, the situation is changing, especially in rural and mountainous areas, with the Chinese government's focus on rural revitalization and the increasing number of new generations of middle-class tourists. This thesis proposes to examine whether a new "Chinese tourism model" is emerging, using Songyang County as the subject of this study, a rural and mountainous region located in one of the wealthiest and most innovative provinces. This is a "qualitative" model of tourism development, moving away from the "quantitative" or "mass" logic of standardization that has been described around Chinese tourism in the past. This thesis begins by emphasizing the fundamental role of the Chinese national government and analyzes the construction of "stereotypical" tastes in tourists' landscape aesthetics to highlight the active political, cultural and aesthetic context in rural tourism development. The role of outsider urban investors and architects, as bearers of urban values and perspectives, in tourism and territorial image building has been discussed. However, we question the role of high quality rural accommodation and architecture as levers for the revelation and development of the territory. This thesis then analyzes the tourism practices of Chinese tourists in the countryside. We also question the "rusticity" and "authenticity" sought by tourists. This work is also relevant to show the exemplary and experimental value of the Songyang model to other rural areas facing development difficulties

Abstract (sommario):
In situ studies are general carried out with a few number of animals and there are few trials that inquire the impact of animal variability on these results. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of animal population variability on fractional disappearance rate (kd) of DM, NDF, ADF and cellulose (CEL). Experiment using thirty ruminally canullated Nellore bulls (372 ± 16.02 kg BW) was carried over. In phase 1, all animals received 100% Coast-cross hay with mineral mix ad libitum. In period 2, all animals received a diet containing 88% sugarcane bagasse, 8% soybean meal, 2.8% mineral mix and 1.2% urea (DM basis). In both trials, representative samples of Coast-cross hay (CCH - 7.31% CP, 78.24% NDF, 40.92% ADF), sugarcane bagasse (BAG - 3.04% CP, 90.31% NDF, 69.36% ADF) and Tifton-85 hay (TH - 13.32% CP, 73.27% NDF, 39.29% ADF) were incubated in polyamide-bags (10 cm × 20 cm; 30 ± 10 μm pore size) for 0, 12, 24, 48, 72, and 144 h. Bags were suspended in the rumen ventral sac before at feeding in reverse order and removed simultaneously at time zero. Residual DM, NDF, ADF, and lignin were determined by wet chemistry. Cellulose (CEL) was calculated as ADF minus lignin. Ruminal degradation kinetics of DM, NDF, ADF, and CEL were calculated using a nonlinear model Y(t) = a + b (1 - e(-kd × t) ); where t >= 0. Feeding behavior parameters (eating, ruminating, water drinking and idling) were recorded every 10 minutes during 24 h. Principal component analysis was used to determine correlation of variables among substrates. Factorial Analysis was used to characterize animal population (P<0.05), Cluster with Multivariate Contrasts (P<0.01) to analyze differences in kd groups and Multivariate Canonical correlation analysis (P<0.05) to correlate kd with feeding behavior parameters. A simulation with number of animals was done against coefficient of variation (CV) to determinate optimum number of animals in an in situ assay. The kd (average) of DM, NDF, ADF, and CEL were: 3.26, 3.29, 3.44 and 3.54 for CCH; 3.74, 3.88, 4.07 and 4.49 for TH; and 2.67, 2.68, 2.58 and 2.65 for BAG, respectively. There was no correlation among substrates in both periods. Were found three groups of kd for CCH and TH (high, medium and low) and four groups for BAG (high, medium-high, medium, and low). CV is not adequate to measure experimental precision, instead it, variation index is indicated (VI). In both incubations phases, there was no relationship between feeding behavior and kd, for all incubated forages sources. The kd correlations among substrates between two incubation phases were different, indicating influence of the diet on kd. Variability investigation and VI parameter indicate that the number of animals necessary in these trials is affected by the substrate incubated. However, the variability investigation suggests that probably different animals compose this number.

Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) has been able to effectively shorten the time on north-south traffic and offers convenient and energy-conserving transport services to passengers who wish to take day trips. Mass transit is very competitive, and travel costs are usually the main considerations, including fares, time spent traveling, etc. Under the current customer-oriented era, the importance of quality service and time value requirements has also increased, as passengers want to get cheap fares and high quality service. It is thus worth exploring how THSR can achieve profitability through profit maximization and passengers’ travel cost rationalization. This study used questionnaires with the sample mainly being college students who take THSR for travel. Combined with travel costs and service quality and based on fare changes and service provided, this study employed grey multiple attribute decision making and scenario choice in order to understand the importance of each attribute and passengers’ willingness to pay and to choose the best scenarios according to the decision criteria. The results show that passengers are willing to pay a higher ticket price in exchange for better service quality. The biggest difference between THSR and other transit is its service quality, which is also the core value of THSR.

Medical tourism is one of the world’s fastest growing industries today. Factors like high healthcare costs, increased insurance premiums, and long wait times for medical treatment in advanced countries have forced people in need to actively look for medical treatment in places where such services are provided at low costs but in good quality. This trend is adding momentum to global medical tourism industries. Since January 1, 2012, Taiwan has allowed Mainland Chinese with visas for medical examinations or cosmetic surgery procedures to enter Taiwan as per the announcement by its central health and welfare administration in accordance with Article 48, Regulations Governing the Entry Permission to Taiwan Area for People from Mainland China. As Mainlander medical tourists are coming to Taiwan for an increasing range of medical services, high-end medical examinations are also attracting their attention. With almost no language barrier and advanced medical technology in Taiwan, the overall service quality has garnered huge praises from Mainlanders. Therefore, this researcher first conducted a questionnaire survey on the participants based on the SERVQUAL service quality scale of the PZB model to find out their expectations regarding the importance of and satisfaction with Taiwan’s medical examination centers. Then, the quality function deployment technique was used to convert the needs reported by the participants to expectations for service techniques and identify the key items in service quality provided by these medical examination centers based on correlations between these items. Finally, the findings of this study were provided as improvement suggestions for these medical examination centers in the hope of enabling their service quality to be closer to the participants’ needs and thereby improving their customer satisfaction. The results of this study showed the participants’ satisfaction was higher than their perceived importance in every item. The item that had the greatest differences between actual feelings and expectations was ‘warmth and cleanness in the facility environment’, followed by ‘the medical examiner is willing to listen to my personal need’ and ‘the medical examiner actively tries to solve any problem I may encounter’. Among all the constructs of service quality in the PZB model, the construct that had the greatest differences between actual feelings and expectations was empathy, followed by responsiveness, tangibles, reliability and finally assurance. In addition, the items in the medical services provided by the medical examination centers that the lowest participant satisfaction were ‘clear guidance on the movement direction in the facility environment’, ‘employees in clean and neat attire’ and ‘warmth and cleanness in the facility environment’. Therefore, if these ‘actual feeling’ items can be focused on, achieved or prioritized for improvement, it should obviously drive subsequent repurchase intention with these medical examination centers.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractOver the past decades, leisure-related mobility in European regions has increased continuously, especially in tourist destinations. New mobility patterns put enormous strain on sustainability issues in tourist regions, which are particularly vulnerable in this regard since the amount of individual mobility often is higher than in non-tourist regions leading to road congestion, seasonal changes of transport demand causing capacity problems, and high level of private car use increasing the need for parking spaces, etc. The rising importance of ecological tourism demands new perspectives of the tourist destinations in establishing new sustainable mobility structures and strategies for supporting regional economic development. Mobility Centers 2.0 are an efficient tool to reduce individual car use and the negative impact of visitor’s travel in tourist regions, as well as to upgrade the quality of the leisure offer and the external image of the region. They can help to strengthen tourist regions as growth poles and improve the economic vitality of the targeted destination.

Abstract (sommario):
In the tourism industry, e-tourism has led to a growing need for the localization of tourist promotional websites to attract domestic and foreign tourists. This study focuses on the website novipazar.travel, which promotes the city of Novi Pazar in Serbia. Using the skopos theory of translation and tourist profiling based on cultural taxonomies and Serbian statistical analysis, this paper assesses the localization quality of tourism materials and analyses how the destination image of novipazar.travel is localized according to the tourist profiles. The findings show that the website shows high level of localization for domestic tourists, which is not the case for foreign tourists. This study contributes to a better understanding of how to tailor Serbian tourism materials to specific tourist profiles, resulting in more effective promotion.

Abstract (sommario):
The report focuses on the quality of service in tourism and in particular on the quality of blanks and work processes in the various issuing units and their coordination in the overall production process. Investments are focused not only on improved innovations in machine software and equipment, but also on such tricks and connections in the production cycle providing a high level of service and culture of consumption. Facilitating the processes provides a level of competition and creates an opportunity for affordability in quality and price. Emphasis is placed on the flexibility of tour operators and the tourist product and tourist service they offer, their quality, organization and management. Satisfying the modern "global tourist" requires not only knowledge of the structure of the offered tourist product and service, but also seeks an answer to the question "How" to be created and implemented.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper studies the development of sports tourism industry in Guangxi by means of literature, mathematical statistics, and expert interview. The results show that the structure of sports tourism industry in Guangxi is characterized by complete type of sports resources, wide distribution, distinctive characteristics, rich sports tourism resources, large market, significant regional characteristics, and huge industrial potential. But the development strength and depth is insufficient, the relatively backward development management system is not perfect, and there is serious product homogeneity phenomenon; The degree of integration is not deep, the product lacks features; The breadth of integration is not enough, the product is single; The shortage of high-quality sports tourism talents and the lack of industrial development momentum are the challenges facing the high-quality development of Guangxi sports tourism industry. The author also proposed strategies such as rational development of sports tourism resources, strengthening planning and guidance, establishment and improvement of Guangxi sports tourism industry cooperation mechanism, promotion of deep organic integration of sports tourism industry and related industries, creation of multi-dimensional and diversified tourism product system and three-level channel training of high-quality sports industry talents, so as to comprehensively improve the sports tourism brand.

Abstract (sommario):
Prioritizing tourism in the development of the economy is one of the objectives of the Republic of Moldova. In the article, there are presented the natural and human made resources of the Republic of Moldova, as well as some characteristics of the tourist infrastructure in order to highlight the tourism development potential of this country. From the point of view of the accommodation, in the Republic of Moldova the availability of units is limited, especially for the accommodation facilities in the superior segment. The analysis shows an underutilization of the accommodation capacity of the collective tourist reception structures, but also a significant disequilibria, namely the number of Moldovan tourists and excursionists who have gone abroad is much higher than the number of foreign tourists and excursionists, who have visited the Republic of Moldova. The hospitality of the people, the Moldovan cuisine, the great variety of high quality wines, the relief, the flora and fauna, the ethnographic diversity (Romanians, Ottomans, Russians, Poles and Germans), the rich heritage at the crossroads of cultures, the political stability, the cheap access to high-speed internet can be considered among the strong points that may attract tourists to the Republic of Moldova. But apart from these elements of attraction and opportunities, tourism in the Republic of Moldova has also some weak points, and is subject to risks that are presented at the end of the paper. The methodology used in the article joins the descriptive analysis with the empirical analysis of statistical data and their interpretation, and also drawing of conclusions.

Abstract (sommario):
The growing market demand for medical tourism has triggered intense competition among the medical tourism industry players. Word-of-mouth has been recognised as one of the key acquisition channels among the thoughtful marketing tactics to attract medical tourists. The purpose of this study is to gain insight on the relationship between medical service quality, perceived value, and satisfaction on word-ofmouth generation in a medical tourism setting. A quantitative survey was conducted to collect the data. The data collected was analysed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The results indicated that medical service quality is positively associated with perceived value, which in turn, affects satisfaction. However, perceived value and satisfaction are not positively related to wordof-mouth generation. The availability of resources, patient cooperation and collaboration among service providers do affect the outcomes of word-of- mouth generation. It is implied that effort must be directed by the healthcare institutions to enrich the value and satisfaction of medical services. Hospital management should emphasise the service quality and raise it to a high level in order to increase recommendation.

Abstract (sommario):
By developing this paper, we wanted to identify the opportunities for the growth and development of the Faget area in Romania, based on the specific resources available. Geographical location, natural and anthropogenic sites, as well as existing accommodation structures provide this area a high tourist potential. Natural landscapes, recreational areas, hunting, fishing, historical monuments, wooden churches, and natural resources are the most important attractions of the Faget area that can be valorised. The authors try to highlight in this paper the evolution of the tourist reception units in the analyzed area. We try to highlight other very important aspects of the analyzed area such as the total capacity of tourist accommodation in operation, the arrivals of tourists in the structures of tourist reception, but also the situation of overnight stays in these structures. Through this paper we want to point out how much the pandemic has influenced the tourism activity in the Faget area, but also its influence on accommodation structures. For this study we had to visit the analyzed area to see the real situation. We talked to the residents and the owners of accommodation units who presented us the real situation. Due to the information and data received from them, we were able to present the situation in the area, both before the pandemic and during the pandemic years. The authors of the paper have come to the conclusion that the promotion of the Faget area through tourism will allow its economic development by increasing peoples employment rate and incomes, which will lead to an increase in the quality of life of the inhabitants.

Abstract (sommario):
Community-Based Tourism (CBT) is an approach to tourism presumed to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially involved on SDG1-No Poverty and SDG11-Sustainable Cities and Communities. In rural communities, homestays are essential CBT component that have made many contributions to the local economy and quality of life. The Malaysia Homestay Programme (MHP) has received special attention from the government due to its potential to enhance local communities’ livelihoods and economic sustainability. This study assesses factors that measure the successful performance of communitybased tourism on the MHP. Homestay programmes are a form of community tourism, in which the host (operator) provides family-friendly stay facilities for rent to tourists, thus generating additional income for the family. Based on the previous studies, the homestay operators faced the following external challenges such as village landscape, inefficient networking, lack of cooperation and commitment from homestay operators, exploitation of external parties, as well as ineffective promotional and marketing activities. These challenges must be resolved effectively to sustain the MHPs forward momentum. Essentially, the experiences of hosts (homestay operators) in dealing with the above mentioned challenges should be sought and empirically documented for future policy-making activities by the development agencies and the society. The national economy is bound to progress with escalating arrivals of tourists if effective strategies are devised by the stakeholders in resolving the problems faced by the homestay operators. Prior studies have listed the critical factors that dictated the success or failure of CBT programmes from the stance of CBT managers and experts. Nonetheless, insights from the local community pertaining to the success of CBT have been largely ignored despite their significance. A case study approach was adopted in this research paper with a qualitative methodology. Data was collected from 17 key informants in 11 MHPs. A structured and in-depth interview was the primary data collection technique, used together with photos, note-taking, and sound recordings. From the interview analysis, 12 criteria were identified as most of the respondents had mentioned those criteria as success factors for MHPs. The findings also revealed 7 very important dimensions for MHP to receive high numbers of visitors which are: effective marketing and promotional strategies, maintained facilities and utilities, uniqueness and quality products/packages design, community engagement and support, collaboration and networking, leadership, and recognition, as well as previous awards. The new dimensions on homestay development identified in this study are recognition and previous awards, entrepreneurship and uniqueness of product and package design. The study outcomes signify that most of the respondents claimed that the MHP success is dictated by the quantity of tourists. This is because; the volume of tourists generates additional income to those involved in the MHP. However, there are other dimensions that should be weighed in by homestay operators to ensure that their homestays can succeed and survive for a longer period and can be contribute to SDG1 and SDG11.

Abstract (sommario):
This rapid review focuses on the impact COVID-19 pandemic om poaching and illegal wildlife trafficking. It provides an overview of the recent research and summarises the key themes. This review found that poaching for the purpose of international trafficking of illegal wildlife products, generally decreased. These declines are largely attributed to the disruption of transportation routes used by wildlife traffickers to move illicit goods within Southern Africa and overseas by air, and in some locations to the effects of local lockdown measures. Poaching for subsistence consumption (bushmeat) generally increased across Southern Africa and worldwide during the COVID-19 pandemic, incentivised largely by economic hardship and opportunities presented by a reduction in the capacity for anti-poaching enforcement and reduced numbers of tourists, whose presence tends to deter poachers. In the long term, poaching and trafficking are likely to return to pre-pandemic levels. Commercial poachers and traffickers are likely to adjust their transportation routes and adapt their business models to take advantage of opportunities. More positively, some authors have suggested the possibility that the COVID-19 pandemic could influence public attitudes against wildlife trafficking and in support of conservation. Trends in poaching and illegal wildlife trafficking during the COVID-19 pandemic vary significantly across and within countries. The impacts resulting from the measures put in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19 have varied significantly depending on local contexts. Up-to-date data on recent trends during the pandemic are scarce. Good quality data are available on poaching and trafficking of high-value commodities such as elephant ivory and rhino horn, while data on poaching for subsistence are less rigorous and often anecdotal. Much of the evidence available for both types of poaching is not systematic and comes from news media reports, and suffers from inherent difficulties of collecting data on illegal activities. Data collection during the pandemic has also been hampered by the challenges of working safely during the pandemic, funding for monitoring and research has been reduced in most areas, and some reporting processes have not yet analysed data collected during 2021.
