The study examines applicability and usefulness of HEXACO-based model in the description of brand personality. Following contemporary theoretical developments in human personality research, Study 1 explored the latent personality structure of 120 brands using descriptors of six personality traits as defined in HEXACO model: Honesty-Humility, Emotionality, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Openness. The results of exploratory factor analyses have supported HEXACO personality six-factor structure to a large extent. In Study 2 we addressed the question of predictive validity of HEXACO-based brand personality. Brand personality traits, but predominantly Honesty-Humility, accounted for substantial amount of variance in prediction of important aspects of consumer-brand relationship: attitude toward brand, perceived quality of a brand, and brand loyalty. The implications of applying HEXACO-based brand personality in marketing research are discussed.

Abstract. Researchers have long been interested in examining relationships between personality traits and performance in applied settings. Although the Big Five remains the most prevalent model of personality, studies adopting an alternative personality model known as the HEXACO model have been increasing in the past decade (e.g., Ashton et al., 2004 ; Lee & Ashton, 2004 ). The aims of the present paper are three-fold: First, we systematically review the literature on the HEXACO model and its applications in educational and work settings. Second, we introduce an emerging applied personality framework for use in educational research and practice, the ACT Behavioral Skills Framework ( Casillas, Way, & Burrus, 2015 ), which is based on the HEXACO model. Third, we offer a number of suggestions for how future research can continue to refine the development and application of the HEXACO model in educational and organizational research and practice.

We correlated the scales of the HEXACO Personality Inventory (HEXACO‐PI) with adjective scale markers of factors previously obtained in indigenous lexical studies of personality structure in the German language. Self‐ratings obtained from a sample of 323 German participants showed a pattern of strong convergent and weak discriminant correlations, supporting the content‐based interpretation of the German lexical factors in terms of the HEXACO dimensions. Notably, convergent correlations were strong for both the broader and the narrower variants of the Honesty‐Humility factor as observed in German lexical studies. Also, convergent correlations for HEXACO Openness to Experience were, as expected, stronger for German adjectives describing a creative and intellectual orientation than for German adjectives describing intellectual ability. The HEXACO personality model is a six-dimensional personality model that is partially independent from the Big Five personality model (Zettler et.al., 2020). Measurement using the HEXACO Personality Inventory-Revised, its sixth dimension, Honesty-Humility, can capture previously unexplored images of personality. This study aims to adapt the HEXACO Personality Inventory-Revised 100 items version (HEXACO-100) into the Indonesian language and examine its psychometric properties. A purposive sample of 605 participants responded to Indonesian HEXACO-100 (67,2% female; mean age: 25,1 years). The result showed that all six factors have good alpha reliability (all factors α > .7), and the exploratory factor analysis and correlation analysis between the dimensions support the validity of the six-dimensional personality model. It can be concluded that this study successfully adapted the HEXACO-100 personality inventory into the Indonesian language, strengthens the existence of a six-dimensional personality model in Indonesia, and underlines that the HEXACO personality inventory is a useful and reliable personality inventory for investigating personality structure in cross-cultural settings.

Based on lexical studies, the HEXACO (honesty-humility, emotionality, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience) model of personality has been proposed as a model of basic personality structure that summarizes individual differences in six broad trait dimensions. Although research across various fields relies on the HEXACO model increasingly, a comprehensive investigation of the nomological net of the HEXACO dimensions is missing entirely. Thus, it remains unclear whether each HEXACO dimension accounts for individual variation across theoretically relevant outcome criteria. We close this gap through a large-scale meta-analytic investigation, testing whether each HEXACO dimension is uniquely linked to one broad and theoretically relevant outcome domain. Results from 426 individual meta-analyses, 436 independent samples, and 3,893 effect-size estimates corroborate this unique mapping. Specifically, honesty-humility maps onto the outcome domain of exploitation, emotionality onto insecurity, extraversion onto sociality, agreeableness versus anger onto obstruction, conscientiousness onto duty, and openness to experience onto exploration. Overall, the current investigation provides a comprehensive empirical test of the (breadth of) content captured by the HEXACO dimensions and allows for a broad specification of the nomological net of the HEXACO model overall.

The a im of this research was to examine the relations between the HEXACO facets and aggressiveness components (anger, vengefulness, domination, hostility, reactive aggression, proactive aggression, and indirect aggression). On a sample of 654 participants from general population, HEXACO?60, Aggressiveness Questionnaire AVDH, Reactive?Proactive Aggression Questionnaire (RPQ), and Indirect Aggression Scale (IAS) were applied. The results of the community structure network analysis provided the most informative insight into these relations and showed that all aggressiveness components formed a single community with the Agreeableness facets. Thereby, facet Patience was the strongest correlate of anger, and hostility had the highest clustering coefficient, which brings together the Agreeableness facets and aggressiveness components. Although Honesty?Humility formed a separate community, some of its facets had strong isolated connections with indirect aggression and dominance. The results revealed that Agreeableness is a dominant correlate of aggressiveness and captures all aggressiveness components, while Honesty? Humility is related to specific components, referring to a manifestation of aggressiveness in a more subtle and indirect way.

Egoism is a personality trait that is associated with self‐enriching and self‐centred behaviours. Research has suggested that egoism lies beyond the Big Five personality factors. Recently, the HEXACO model of personality has been proposed as an alternative to the Big Five model. In three studies, the relation between the HEXACO Personality Inventory and egoism, conceptualized using three different questionnaires (DPQ Egoism, SPI Egotism and the Egoism Scale), is investigated. In all three studies, the HEXACO Honesty–Humility factor scale was the most important predictor of egoism. Additionally, in two studies in which FFM measures were used, the HEXACO Personality Inventory explained more variance in egoism than did the FFPI (Study 2) and the NEO‐PI‐R (Study 3). Pastarąjį dešimtmetį buvo suabejota dominuojančio penkių faktorių asmenybės modelio galimybėmis aprašyti asmenybės struktūrą. Buvo pasiūlytas šešių faktorių asmenybės modelis ir nustatyta, kad šis modelis, palyginti su penkių faktorių modeliu, yra pranašesnis tiek psicholeksiniu, tiek teoriniu, tiek prak­tiniu aspektais (Ashton and Lee, 2007). HEXACO PI-R klausimynas (Ashton and Lee, 2009) yra skirtas em­piriškai tyrinėti šešių faktorių modelį. Naudojant asmenybės klausimynus, paremtus savistaba, yra būti­na, kad skirtingose kultūrose klausimyno teiginiai būtų suprantami vienodai. HEXACO PI-R klausimyno, kaip ir bet kokio kito asmenybės struktūros vertinimo instrumento, vertimas ir naudojimas priklauso nuo kalbos ir kultūrinio konteksto, todėl šalyje, kurioje klausimynas bus naudojamas, yra būtina įvertinti psi­chometrines charakteristikas ir atlikti klausimyno standartizavimą. Šiame straipsnyje yra pateikiamos kai kurios lietuviškosios HEXACO PI-R versijos psichometrinės charakteristikos. Tyrime dalyvavo 369 stu­dentai, moterys ir vyrai, kurių amžius yra nuo 19 iki 28 metų, savo noru sutikę užpildyti HEXACO PI-R klau­simyną. Tyrimo rezultatai atskleidė, kad visų asmenybės dimensijas matuojančių skalių (sąžiningumo ir nuolankumo, emocingumo, ekstraversijos, sutariamumo, disciplinuotumo, atvirumo patyrimui) vidinis suderinamumas yra labai geras, o subdimensijas matuojančių subskalių vidinis suderinamumas yra pa­kankamas, išskyrus dvi subskales, kurių vienos mažas patikimumas gautas ir kitose šalyse, o kitos – gali būti paaiškinamas kultūriniais skirtumais. Faktorių analizė patvirtino šešių faktorių asmenybės teorinį modelį ir atskleidė labai gerą klausimyno struktūrinį validumą – visos subdimensijos turi didžiausius svo­rius numatytuose dimensijas nusakančiuose faktoriuose. SummaryDuring the last decade, the potential of the dominant five-factor personality model to describe the perso­nality structure was questioned. It has been found that at least six factors are needed for the explication of personality structure (Jackson et al., 1996). Lexi­cal research as well as factor analysis of translated five-factor questionnaires repeatedly revealed that six factors as opposed to five should be used in dif­ferent languages (Ashton et al., 2004). As a result, the six-factor model providing a better insight into a personality was developed. It consists of the following factors: Honesty–Humility (H), Emotionality (E), Ex­traversion (X), Agreeableness (A), Conscientiousness (C), and Openness to Experience (O), represented by the acronym HEXACO (Lee and Ashton, 2004). This model, as compared with the five-factor model, has an advantage in psycholexical, theoretical as well as practical terms (Ashton and Lee, 2007). The HECAXO PI-R questionnaire (Ashton and Lee, 2009) is an empirical means of the six-factor model. Different items of the personality questionnaire based on introspection should be accurately translated into the identical meaning in different cultures. Like any other personality structure assessment tool, the HE­XACO PI-R questionnaire depends on the language and cultural context, so it is necessary to evaluate the psychometric properties as well as to perform standar­disation of the questionnaire in a country in which the questionnaire is applied. The article covers particular psychometric properties of the Lithuanian version of the HEXACOPI-R. 369 students (aged between 19 and 28, including 278 women and 91 men) voluntarily agreed to fill in the HEXACO PI-R questionnaire and participate in this research. The results of the question­naire have shown that the internal consistency of all the scales that assess personality dimensions is very good while the internal consistency of the subscales that assess subdimensions is sufficient, except for two subdimensions, one of which has a low reliability also in other counties, while the other can be explained by cultural differences. Factor analysis confirmed the relevance of the theoretical model of the six-factor personality model and revealed a very good structural validity of the questionnaire: all subdimensions have the biggest weight in the factors that compose these subdimensions. Also, statistically significant differen­ces were found between men and women in the Ho­nesty–Humility, Emotionality and Conscientiousness scales. The mean scores of women were statistically significantly higher than those of men in all scales. The study showed that the Lithuanian version of HEXACOPI-R can be applied in scientific research.Keywords: personality traits, Six Factor Model, HEXACOPI-R.

Recently there have been attempts to measure psychopathy via existing personality inventories. The aim of the present research was to explore whether six-factors personality structure (measured by HEXACO-PI-R) can be used for the assessment of the psychopathy model consisted of four traits: interpersonal, affective, lifestyle and antisocial (measured by SRP-4). In Study 1 (402 community participants), the proxy measures of these traits were generated using the HEXACO-PI-R items. It showed that all the psychopathy traits except antisocial tendencies are adequately explained by HEXACO traits: all of the R²s were >.50. Proxy measures had satisfactory reliabilities (all Alphas >.70) and adequate correlations with the original psychopathy scales. In Study 2 (345 undergraduate students) and Study 3 (245 male convicts), the discriminative and external validity of the proxy measures is further demonstrated. The results of the present research showed that HEXACO-PI-R can be used to explore interpersonal, affective and lifestyle features of psychopathy, which can facilitate further research. However, the usage of the inventories which measure psychopathy directly is still preferable when possible.

Abstract. The six dimensions of the HEXACO model of personality are most commonly measured via the HEXACO Personality Inventory(-Revised) (HEXACO-PI(-R)), which comes in three versions (60, 100, and 200 items) and is available as a self- and observer report form in several languages. The present study meta-analytically investigates the psychometric properties of the HEXACO-PI(-R), relying on empirical data from 549 independent samples providing information about 316,133 individuals. In particular, we performed reliability generalization meta‐analyses to examine internal consistency, determined self–observer agreement, investigated structural properties in terms of the intercorrelations between the HEXACO dimensions, and established relations between the dimensions and demographic variables. Results show that all HEXACO-PI(-R) versions exhibit fairly high reliabilities and a high degree of self–observer agreement. With the exception of a moderate correlation between Honesty-Humility and Agreeableness, the HEXACO dimensions are only weakly correlated overall. Finally, notable gender differences (with women scoring higher) occurred on Emotionality and Honesty-Humility.

AbstractThe present study investigated the location of trait emotional intelligence (trait EI or trait emotional self-efficacy) within the context of the HEXACO model — a more comprehensive personality framework than the conventional Big Five structure. A total of 666 MZ and 526 DZ adult twin pairs from the United Kingdom completed the short form of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue-SF) and the short form of the HEXACO Personality Inventory (HEXACO-60). Many significant phenotypic correlations between the TEIQue-SF and the HEXACO-60 were obtained, which were strongest for HEXACO Extraversion, and weakest for HEXACO Honesty–Humility. As was expected, Emotionality was the only HEXACO dimension to correlate negatively with TEIQue-SF scores. Bivariate behavioral genetic analyses revealed that all phenotypic correlations were attributable to common genetic and common nonshared environmental factors. The study confirms the validity of trait EI as a constellation of emotional self-perceptions located at the lower levels of personality.

But in spite of the evidence supporting this structure and demonstrating its advantages over five–dimensional models, some researchers continue to use and promote the latter. Although there has been little overt, organized argument against the adoption of the HEXACO model, we do hear sporadic offerings of reasons for retaining the five–dimensional systems, usually in informal conversations, in manuscript reviews, on social media platforms, and occasionally in published works. Recent research aimed at identifying distinct personality types has generally searched for such types in the space of the dimensions of the Big Five or Five-Factor model. We extended this search to the space of the HEXACO model of personality structure, using data from a large community sample of adults. In a series of cluster analyses involving 3 to 7 clusters, the proportion of reliable variance in HEXACO dimensions that was accounted for by the types – i.e., clusters – was small, never exceeding that accounted for by clusters generated from random multivariate normal data. The predictive validity of the types and the dimensions was compared with respect to aggregated peer reports on the Big Five personality factors, and results showed that even the largest sets of HEXACO types accounted for only half as much variance as did the HEXACO dimensions. The results provide no evidence of meaningful personality types within the space of the HEXACO framework.

We aimed to explore to what extent the Dark Tetrad traits are represented by basic personality traits framed by HEXACO (Study 1; 150 participants, Mage = 32.15, SDage = 8.41) and the Big Five model (Study 2; 215 participants, Mage = 35.59, SDage = 13.65). Alongside correlation analysis, we employed a quasi-canonical analysis of covariance. The results showed that the core features of the Dark Tetrad are mapped on the negative poles of Agreeableness and Honesty-Humility from the HEXACO and Agreeableness from the Big Five. Despite the somewhat distinctive nature of Narcissism compared to other dark traits, the common features of the Dark Tetrad are partially represented in both models, but to a larger extent in HEXACO. In conclusion, we recommend using the HEXACO model as a proxy for assessing the core features of the Dark Tetrad in large-scale studies where measuring both basic and dark personality traits is not feasible.

Recent developments in personality research led to the proposition of two alternative six-factor trait models, the HEXACO model and the Big Six model. However, given the lack of direct comparisons, it is unclear whether the HEXACO and Big Six factors are distinct or essentially equivalent, that is, whether corresponding inventories measure similar or distinct personality traits. Using Structural Equation Modeling (Study 1), we found substantial differences between the traits as measured via the HEXACO-60 and the 30-item Questionnaire Big Six (30QB6), particularly for Honesty-Humility and Honesty-Propriety (both model’s critical difference to the Big Five approach). This distinction was further supported by Study 2, showing differential capabilities of the HEXACO-60 and the 30QB6 to account for several criteria representing the theoretical core of Honesty-Humility and/or Honesty-Propriety. Specifically, unlike the indicator of Honesty-Humility, the indicator of Honesty-Propriety showed low predictive power for some conceptually relevant criteria, suggesting a limited validity of the 30QB6.

The cross-cultural factor invariance of the Humor Styles Questionnaire (HSQ) structure, and its relationships with the HEXACO personality model were analyzed in a large Spanish community sample. The effect of age, gender, and social position on the observed relationships was also investigated. The four-factor structure of the HSQ was largely invariant compared to the original one. Males and younger participants score higher on all four domains of the HSQ, but no relevant effect of social position is observed. The HEXACO-60 dimensions and facets predicted between 17% and 32% of the HSQ domains. Results and discussion broadly support that the HEXACO personality model can be used as an adequate personality framework for the research and understanding of humor styles.

We modelled the associations between the HEXACO dimensions of personality, Social Dominance Orientation (SDO), Right–Wing Authoritarianism (RWA) and prejudice towards dangerous, derogated and dissident groups ( N = 454 undergraduates). Consistent with a Big–Five model, low Openness to Experience predicted RWA and therefore dangerous and dissident group prejudice. As predicted, low Emotionality (and Openness) rather than Agreeableness predicted SDO and therefore derogated and dissident group prejudice. Comparison with meta–analytic averages of Big–Five data supported expected similarities and differences in the association of Big–Five and HEXACO models of personality with ideology. Finally, Honesty–Humility simultaneously predicted increases in RWA but decreases in SDO, and thus opposing effects on prejudice. These opposing effects have gone unidentified in research employing Big–Five models of personality structure. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

AbstractThe purpose of the present study was to determine if a general factor of personality (GFP) could be extracted from the six dimensions of the HEXACO model and four factors of trait emotional intelligence. Participants were 1,192 pairs of twins (666 MZ pairs, 526 DZ pairs) between the ages of 19 to 86 years, who completed the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire — Short Form and the HEXACO Personality Inventory — Revised. Principal components analysis yielded a strong GFP accounting for 33% of the variance, on which all variables with the exception of honesty-humility from the HEXACO showed moderate to large loadings. Behavioral genetic (BG) analyses revealed that individual differences in the GFP were entirely attributable to additive genetic and non-shared environmental factors — results that are in accord with previous BG analyses of a GFP. The present study adds to the body of evidence in support of a heritable GFP but an alternative perspective is also discussed.

Despite the widespread use of the HEXACO model as a descriptive taxonomy of personality traits, there remains limited information on the test-retest reliability of its commonly-used inventories. Studies typically report internal consistency estimates, such as alpha or omega, but there are good reasons to believe that these do not accurately assess reliability. We report 13-day test-retest correlations of the 100- and 60-item English HEXACO Personality Inventory-Revised (HEXACO-100 and HEXACO-60) domains, facets, and items. In order to test the validity of test-retest reliability, we then compare these estimates to correlations between self- and informant-reports (i.e., cross-rater agreement), a widely-used validity criterion. Median estimates of test-retest reliability were .88, .81, and .65 (N = 416) for domains, facets, and items, respectively. Facets’ and items’ test-retest reliabilities were highly correlated with their cross-rater agreement estimates, whereas internal consistencies were not. Overall, the HEXACO Personality Inventory-Revised demonstrates test-retest reliability similar to other contemporary measures. We recommend that short-term retest reliability should be routinely calculated to assess reliability.

<p>本研究旨在評估HEXACO人格量表之跨文化適用性的品質和效益。研究者透過文獻分析法,檢索了460篇相關文獻,最後篩選出10篇不同語言的信效度研究進行分析。結果發現,HEXACO量表在不同國家應用時具有良好的內部一致性信度(.64至 .92),儘管因測驗長度不同而有些許起伏。HEXACO六因素結構通過探索性因素分析獲得支持,解釋量在44.1%至58.4%之間。各因素間具區辨效度,與大五人格中的外向性、嚴謹性、開放性及友善性具中高相關。值得注意的是,HEXACO獨特的第六因素「誠實&ndash;謙遜」捕捉了大五人格模型未包含的面向。綜合而言,HEXACO量表具跨文化適用性,但部分譯本題目需要再修正;在四個版本中,可優先考量使用HEXOCA-PI-R或HEXACO-100;建議國內諮商實務工作者使用HEXOCA量表針對求助個案進行評估,做為個案概念化及諮商介入之依據;未來亦可持續針對華人進行探究,做為跨文化人格理論與華人本土化人格理論之對話橋樑。</p> <p>&nbsp;</p><p>This study aimed to preliminarily assess the cross-cultural applicability and validity of the HEXACO personality inventory. The researchers utilized a literature analysis method, retrieving 460 related studies, and finally selected 10 studies in different languages analyzing reliability and validity. Results indicated that the HEXACO inventory demonstrated good internal consistency reliability (.64-.92) when applied in different countries, despite some fluctuations due to varied test length. The six-factor structure of HEXACO was supported through exploratory factor analysis, with explained variance between 44.1% and 58.4%. The factors showed discriminant validity and moderate to high correlations with Extraversion, Conscientiousness, Openness and Agreeableness in the Big Five model. Notably, the unique sixth factor of HEXACO, &quot;&quot;Honesty-Humility,&quot;&quot; captured aspects not included in the Big Five model. In summary, the HEXACO scale has cross-cultural applicability, but some of the translated questions need to be revised. Among the four versions, HEXOCA-PI-R or HEXACO-100 can be given priority. It is recommended that counseling practitioners could use the HEXOCA scale to evaluate clients as a basis for case conceptualization and intervention. In the future, it is recommended to continue to conduct research on Chinese people as a bridge for dialogue between cross-cultural personality theory and localized personality theory.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Contrary to the common notion that personality and intelligence are unrelated constructs, numerous correlational studies have demonstrated substantial associations between the two domains. Moreover, samples of intellectually gifted individuals have been found to differ from the general population in specific aspects of their personalities. However, most studies so far have relied on the Five-Factor Model of Personality (FFM), while none have investigated this phenomenon using the HEXACO personality framework. We recruited 617 adult members of the international high-IQ society MENSA and compared them to 3 reference samples (combined N = 112,637) regarding their personalities as measured by the HEXACO-60 personality inventory. We found that gifted persons scored higher in Honesty-Humility and Conscientiousness but lower in Emotionality compared to reference samples. Interestingly, gifted individuals scored only slightly higher in Openness to Experience, and no consistent differences emerged for Agreeableness. We demonstrate that some known personality differences between gifted and non-gifted persons translate from the FFM to the HEXACO model, while others do not. Our results indicate that within the HEXACO factor structure differences in sociability are more pronounced, while intellect-related differences are comparatively weak.

Using the HEXACO Model of Personality, we explored two kinds of ideal partner preferences regarding personality traits, namely, to what extent people prefer partners similar to themselves (similarity preference) and to what extent people prefer partners with more desirable trait levels than themselves (aspirational assortative preference). We conducted five studies (overall N > 900) across four countries (China, Denmark, Germany, and the USA), looking at both HEXACO factors and facets, using both self–report questionnaires and real–life data (personal profiles from a dating website), and comprising both student and more heterogeneous samples. The results provided support for both kinds of ideal partner preferences, with important differences across traits. Specifically, similarity preference was supported by all studies concerning all HEXACO traits, and aspirational assortative preference was supported by all four self–report studies (though not the dating website study) concerning all HEXACO traits except for Openness to Experience. Concerning differences in preferences among the HEXACO traits, similarity preference was particularly pronounced for Honesty–Humility and Openness to Experience, moderate for Agreeableness and Conscientiousness, and less pronounced for Emotionality and Extraversion. Investors’ personality traits and psychological biases play a crucial role in the decision-making process and risk-taking behavior of investors. The emotional and psychological factors impact the decision-making, giving rise to biases. These biases make investors make irrational decisions, which signifies the need for this study. This study aims to assess investors’ personalities using HEXACO model and its interaction with biases and financial risk tolerance. The data of 530 retail investors in India, who had more than 2 years of investing experience in the stock market, were collected. The study considered the HEXACO model since it captures all dimensions of personality that are not considered in the commonly used Big Five Model (BFM). The result of structural equation modeling and mediation analysis shows that the ‘honesty-humility’ trait significantly affects overconfidence bias. The mediation analysis of biases between traits and financial risk tolerance showed complete, partial, and no mediation effect depending on the nature of prejudice. Clear distinction of personality traits into ‘virtue traits’ and ‘character traits’ can be observed. This clear distinction paves the way for employing the HEXACO model in future studies.

Abstract. This review appraises evidence for the role of personality in COVID-19 related emotions and behaviors. Three key models of personality are considered: the Five-factor Model, HEXACO model, and Reinforcement Sensitivity Theory (RST). In line with personality research, more generally, most studies focus on the Five-Factor model. Key findings are that neuroticism is most associated with poor mental health, and extraversion is associated with a reluctance to socially isolate. Conscientiousness predicts compliance with safety guidelines but also with fewer prosocial behaviors, particularly stockpiling. Research within the HEXACO framework largely confirms these findings, especially for emotionality and mental health. The additional HEXACO Honesty-Humility factor is found to be associated with prosocial views and abstention from panic buying. Studies based on the Reinforcement Sensitivity Theory of personality indicate emotional conflict as people wish to stay safe while maintaining a sense of normality. Behavioral compliance is driven by activation in the Fight-Flight-Freeze System (FFFS; fear-related) and the Behavioral Inhibition System (BIS; anxiety-related). The Behavioral Approach System (BAS) is implicated in approach-driven behaviors such as avoiding infection. These findings have implications for health communications and post-pandemic support.

The main purpose of the present study was to examine the relationships between HEXACO personality traits and rolefulness. Data were collected from 96 Japanese university students. The results showed that honesty–humility was negatively associated with social rolefulness, and extraversion and openness were related to increased social rolefulness. In addition, openness to experience and emotionality were associated with increased internal rolefulness. This model revealed significant relationships between personality traits and rolefulness, contributing to the understanding of how rolefulness develops based on individual characteristics.

In their recent taxonomy of intuitive ethics, Graham et al. (2011) proposed five moral foundations: 1) harm/care; 2) fairness/reciprocity; 3) ingroup/loyalty; 4) authority/respect, and 5) purity/sanctity. The main aim of this study was to locate these five moral foundations in the HEXACO personality model. The HEXACO model, proposed by Ashton and Lee (2001, 2007), consists of 6 dimensions of personality: honesty/humility, motionality, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience. Our aim was also to identify gender differences in moral foundations and personality dimensions. The research sample included 149 adult inhabitants of Slovakia. The mean age was 23.07 (SD = 4.83) and ranged from 18 to 40 years. Two questionnaires were utilized in this study: MFQ-30 (Graham et al., 2011) for measuring the five moral foundations and HEXACO-60 (Ashton & Lee, 2009) for measuring the six personality dimensions. A comparison of men and women showed that women scored higher in the moral foundation of harm/care, which is in line with the results of Niazi et al. (2020). According to Niazi et al. (2020) women scored higher than men also in moral foundations of fairness/reciprocity and purity/sanctity, however our results showed no gender differences in those moral foundations. Women scored higher than men also in personality dimensions of honesty/humility and emotionality, which is in line with the results of previous studies (Lee & Ashton 2004, 2006, 2018; Záškodná & Dostál, 2016). Hierarchical regression analysis showed that the personality dimensions of HEXACO significantly predicted the moral foundations, explaining 7.40%–18.40% of the variance of moral foundations. Our findings do not differ significantly from the results of Međedović and Petrović (2016), who state that personality dimensions explain from 6% to 23% of moral foundations. The results of our study showed that the moral foundation of harm/care was best predicted by gender (woman), emotionality and extraversion. Fairness/reciprocity was best predicted by emotionality and extraversion, while ingroup/loyalty by emotionality, extraversion and openness to experience. The moral foundation of authority/respect was predicited by conscientiousness and emotionality and finally, purity/sanctity was best predicted by honesty/humility, emotionality and conscientiousness. Overall, the best predictors of moral foundations were personality dimensions of emotionality and extraversion. We would like to point out two interesting/surprising facts: 1) the personality dimension of honesty/ humility predicts just one moral foundation (purity/sanctity) and 2) the personality dimension of agreeableness is not related to moral foundations at all. Utilizing the personality dimensions, the moral foundations can be characterized as follows: Those who care are extroverted and emotional women. Fair and loyal people are emotional and extroverted, while loyal persons are also open to experience. Authority and sanctity could be characterized by conscientiousness and emotionality, while sanctity is also honest/humble. In conclusion, this is the first study in Slovakia that aims to locate five moral foundations in the area of six dimensions of the HEXACO personality model.

The aim of the research was to determine the number, characteristics, and the level of convergence of personality types extracted in the space of the three psycho-lexical conceptualizations of personality – The Big Five, HEXACO, and The Big Seven. The study was conducted on a sample consisting of 343 participants (55.7% female), aged 18–60 (M = 33.99). The participants completed the IPIP-50 (Big Five model operationalization), IPIP-HEXACO (HEXACO model operationalization) and the BF+2-70 (short version of the questionnaire for assessing seven lexical dimensions in Serbian language) questionnaires. Latent profile analysis was conducted in the space of dimension scores of the three questionnaires. The Bayesian information criterion suggested three-class solution to be optimal in the space of all three questionnaires. Analyzing the structure of latent profiles, the classes within the three models were interpreted as “resilient”, “reserved”, and “maladjusted”. The congruency of classes was analyzed by multiple correspondence analyses, which indicated a high convergence of types in the two-dimensional space. Results indicate a distinct similarity between the extracted profiles with the profiles from previous studies, generally pointing towards the stability of the three big personality prototypes.

We examined the joint factor structure of the 30 facets of the NEO Personality Inventory – Revised (NEO-PI-R; or the NEO-PI-3) with either (a) the 25 facets of the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5) or (b) the 15 facets of the Schedule for Nonadaptive and Adaptive Personality (SNAP) plus several dissociation scales, using self-reports from participant samples of previous research. The NEO-PI-R[3]/PID-5 variable set produced seven factors that represented the HEXACO factor space plus a “psychoticism” dimension. The NEO-PI-R/SNAP/dissociation variable set produced a similar set of seven factors. The results indicate that even some questionnaire variable sets not constructed to measure the HEXACO factors can recover those personality dimensions. Researchers interested in integrating the domains of normal and abnormal personality are advised to adopt a model consisting of six HEXACO-like dimensions plus a dimension of psychotic tendency.

The present study examined which personality traits are vulnerable to boredom by exploring the relationship between 6 factors of boredom proneness and personality (HEXACO model). We collected data from 168 university students and conducted a multiple regression analysis. The analysis showed that extraversion, openness, and conscientiousness were significantly negatively related to internal boredom proneness, with these three factors explaining about 47% of the variance. Honesty/humility, extraversion, and agreeableness were also significantly negatively related to external boredom proneness, explaining about 22% of the variance. Extraversion showed significant relationships with both boredom proneness factors. This study enhances our psychological understanding of the effects of interanal and exteranal boredom proness on the six personality factors of HEXACO model, highlighting the need for future a multidimensional reseach on boredom.

Abstract (sommario):
The aim of this research was to validate Serbian adaptations of three short six-factor model measures: 24 Questionnaire Big Six (24QB6), Mini-IPIP6, and Brief HEXACO Inventory (BHI). Besides these measures, HEXACO-100 was applied on a sample of 310 participants (41% of male) from the general population. The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed marginal fit indices for 24QB6, and satisfactory fit indices for Mini-IPIP6, but not for BHI. BHI also had the smallest Cronbach’s alphas for the scales, but the highest correlations with matching HEXACO-100 scales, confirming its convergent and discriminant validity. Regarding 24QB6, it was noticeable that all scales were valid, except for Honesty/Propriety, which showed substantial relations with both Honesty-Humility and Conscientiousness. Scales from Mini-IPIP6 had the highest alphas, but also the highest mean inter-item correlation, indicating that they measured a narrower scope of the traits. Also, validity of the Agreeableness scale was limited. Taken together, all the measures had advantages and disadvantages, and authors should choose a short measure in line with the importance of either validity or reliability.
