This thesis investigates why an alternative visual art and arts infrastructure developed in Indonesia during the 1990s. Initially alternative exhibition spaces developed in response to a lack of outlets through the existing commercial galleries and in reaction to the cultural hegemony of Suharto???s regime, which failed to provide infrastructure for modern art. ???Alternative??? will be extended here to describe an art and an arts infrastructure that became an influential system of power, the gatekeeper for the Indonesian arts community to the international art forum. The background of Alternative art is considered, its sources being in the protest of the New Art Movement, Gerakan Seni Rupa Baru, in the 1970s and an on-going art student rebellion against the modern and decorative art taught in the art academies. Contemporary artists sought content that reflected the many issues confronting Indonesian society, and rejected that art focusing on formal properties particularly in painting, which, by avoiding contention, served the purposes of Suharto???s regime. Particular examples are explored to define the lines of power that evolved: firstly the alternative gallery, Cemeti, and secondly the curator, Jim Supangkat and his theoretical justification for Indonesian contemporary art for the international forum. Finally the career structure of Heri Dono is examined to identify the mechanisms for artistic success through international contacts. This investigation concludes that power and influence became dependent on recognition in the international forum. Western and later Asian institutions, in selecting work for the high profile survey exhibitions proliferating in the 1990s, worked almost exclusively with this network. Their preference was for installation art that reflected the socio-political context in which it was made, and the few artists who were selected developed careers very different from their colleagues in Indonesia, some becoming nomadic art stars. This relationship between the Indonesian and the international art network has gained recognition for Indonesian contemporary art and an outlet for suppressed issues and marginalised people, but did not provide a fully balanced representation of Indonesian culture and reiterated the systems and paradigms of the West in relation to Asian art.

<p> Art is part of our natural human behavior. For four years, college students go through several developmental stages. Art in higher education can become a fundamental part of students’ behavior. Like language and laughter, art is a basic part of the self-concept and development. Experimental learning is one outline of the many comprehensive theories of college student development that can be used as measuring tools for administrators, professors, institutional policies, improvements, and practices. The college environment is a place that fosters outcomes of growth and challenges, and as a result, support is needed because a student lives different levels of maturity within social contexts. College can be an “advisory circle” as the environment provides education, support, realization, awareness, and knowledge that develop strength for the future and the world ahead. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between art and non-art majors and the development of the self-concept in higher education. The data is derived from senior students at four-year institutions who completed the college senior survey from the Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) of the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) of UCLA. Descriptive statistics, cross-tabulations, and chi-square testing were performed to examine the relationship between art and development of the self-concept in higher education. The major themes of the college senior survey are academic and social adjustment, sources of satisfaction and dissatisfaction, academic, residential and employment experiences, plans for the next academic year, patterns of behavior, life goals and self-concepts, and feelings of personal success. The findings of this study suggest that art majors and art careers have a good self-concept when studying the controlled variables of gender, race/ethnicity, GPA, art majors/non-art majors, career occupation, institution type, and control. The independent variables that are the HERI standards of student/faculty interactions, educational environment/climate, campus environment satisfaction, academic achievement/change, and learning styles/self-rating were also examined alongside the dependent variables of character and development of art and non-art majors’ self-concept, self-esteem, ideal self, and self-image.</p><p>

Avec un taux de survie à 5 ans inférieur à 5%, l'adénocarcinome pancréatique (PDAC) est l'un des cancers les plus agressifs et pour lequel les thérapies existantes sont largement insuffisantes. Ce cancer est caractérisé par un tissu fibreux dense et un stroma très développé, en constante interaction avec la tumeur, favorisant le développement d'un environnement propice à la progression tumorale. Actuellement, la gemcitabine est la seule chimiothérapie approuvée capable de prolonger légèrement la survie des patients. Une thérapie ciblée dirigée contre l'EGFR, l'erlotinib, a prouvé que le ciblage de cette famille pourrait être une stratégie intéressante dans cette pathologie mais qu'une sélection des patients était indispensable pour augmenter les réponses thérapeutiques. Deux récepteurs de cette famille, HER2 et HER3, dimérisent pour former une entité particulièrement agressive et impliquée dans la croissance tumorale des PDACs. Diverses techniques récemment développées sont utilisées pour quantifier ces dimères, afin d'étudier leur rôle, mais également pour tenter de les cibler, et empêcher leur signalisation dans différents cancers. A l'heure actuelle, le pertuzumab est le seul anticorps monoclonal dirigé contre le récepteur HER2, capable de bloquer sa dimérisation, et utilisé en clinique. Dans un premier temps, nous nous sommes intéressés au rôle de HER3 en tant que cible et marqueur pronostique de l'effet du pertuzumab sur les PDAC exprimant faiblement HER2. Puis dans une deuxième partie, nous avons étudié et comparé les effets de différents anticorps monoclonaux dirigés contre HER2 et/ou HER3, sur la prolifération tumorale de tumeurs du pancréas. L'ensemble de ces résultats a permis d'établir que le ciblage du dimère HER2/HER3 s'avère être une stratégie prometteuse pour inhiber la croissance des tumeurs du pancréas exprimant faiblement HER2, et que le récepteur HER3 pourrait être un marqueur pronostique de l'effet du pertuzumab<br>With a 5-year survival lower than 5%, PDAC is one of the worst cancers in terms of mortality, and for which existing therapies are unsatisfying. This cancer is characterized by a dense fibrotic tissue and an over-developed stroma, in continual interaction with the tumor, promoting the development of an ideal environment for tumor progression.To date, gemcitabine is the only approved chemotherapy able to slightly increase patients' survival. The use of erlotinib, an EGFR targeting therapy, underlined that EGFR family targeting could be an interesting treatment strategy in this pathology, but that a better patients' selection is essential to increase therapeutic response. Two receptors of this family, HER2 and HER3, are able to dimerize to consititute an aggressive entity, involved in PDAC tumoral growth. Various recently developed techniques are used to quantify those dimers, in order to study their role, but also to target them and block their signaling in cancer cells. Pertuzumab is currently the only HER2-targeting monoclonal antibody able to block its dimerization and used in clinic. We first evaluated the role of HER3 as therapeutic target and prognostic marker of pertuzumab efficacy on HER2-low expressing PDACs. We then studied and compared therapeutic effects on pancreatic tumor proliferation of different antibodies targeting HER2 and/or HER3. Taken together, those results demonstrated that HER2/HER3 dimers targeting is a promising strategy to inhibit low-HER2 expressing pancreatic tumor growth, and that HER3 could be a pronostic marker for pertuzumab efficacy in those cancers

Human MAP3K4 (MTK1) functions upstream of mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPKs). In the studies presented herein, MTK1 is shown to be required for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2/3 (HER2/HER3)-heregulin beta1 (HRG) induced extracellular acidification and cell migration in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. Furthermore, it was shown that HRG stimulation leads to association of MTK1 with tyrosine phosphorylated HER3 in MCF-7 and T-47D breast cancer cells. The MTK1/HER3 association was dependent on HER2 activation and was decreased by pre-treatment with the HER2 inhibitor, lapatinib. Furthermore, HER2 does not directly associate with MTK1, but phosphorylates HER3 transiently. MTK1 also has a role in the ERK1/2 MAPK signaling pathway in response to heregulin (HRG) stimulation in T-47D and MCF-7 breast cancer cells. In addition to MTK1, Shc, Grb2 and GIT1 proteins are all involved in the ERK1/2 MAPK pathway in response to growth factor stimulation. MTK1 was also shown to associate with activated ERK1/2, GIT1, Shc, Grb2 and p85 of PI3K in response to heregulin stimulation. ERK1/2 kinase activity is involved in aberrant signaling that leads breast cancer progression. GIT1 is a scaffolding protein that is linked to growth factor mediated ERK1/2 signaling in cell migration. Moreover, we also identify the actin interacting region (AIR) on MTK1 and disruption of actin cytoskeletal polymerization with cytochalasin D inhibited the interaction between HER3 and MTK1, indicating that f-actin (which is needed for cell migration) is required for the MTK1/HER3 association. Additionally, HRG stimulation leads to extracellar acidification that is independent of cellular proliferation. HRG induced extracellular acidification is significantly inhibited when MTK1 is knocked down in MCF-7 cells. Similarly, pre-treatment with lapatinib significantly decreased HRG induced extracellular acidification. Extracellular acidification is linked with cancer cell migration. We performed scratch assays that show HRG induced cell migration in MCF-7 cells. Knockdown of MTK1 significantly inhibited HRG induced cell migration. Furthermore, pre-treatment with lapatinib also significantly decreased cell migration. Cell migration is required for cancer cell metastasis, which is the major cause of cancer patient mortality. We identify MTK1 in the HER2/HER3-HRG mediated extracellular acidification and cell migration pathway in breast cancer cells.

Background HER2-positive breast cancer is a poor prognostic subgroup, even if treated with anti-HER2 directed therapy. Trastuzumab is an important HER2-targeting antibody but only limited patients respond to this drug, and acquired resistance is a common problem. HER3 has been shown to be a key candidate in mediating resistance to trastuzumab and other ErbB inhibitors. The aims of the project are to investigate the resistance mechanisms and the relevant biomarkers in relation to trastuzumab treatment and resistance in HER2-positive breast cancer, in particular, HER3 subcellular localisation and HER3 phosphorylation. Methods Effects of trastuzumab on HER3 subcellular localisation and HER3 phosphorylation in relation to MET receptor were studied using western blots, nuclear fractionation, confocal microscopy, and immunoprecipitation in a panel of HER2-positive cell lines, including SKBr3 and BT474 breast cancer cells in which trastuzumab resistance was induced by long-term drug exposure. Effects of drug and knockdown experiments were tested by cell viability and proliferation assays. HER3 and MET expression was assessed by immunohistochemistry in xenograft tumours and human tissue samples, and clinical impact was assessed in different cohorts of HER2-positive breast cancer patients. Results Acquired trastuzumab resistant SKBr3 cells showed an increase of nuclear HER3<sub>100kD</sub>, which was derived from C-terminus of HER3. Nuclear HER3<sub>100kD</sub> could be due to the proteolytic cleavage of HER3 since it was reduced by ADAM17 or gamma-secretase inhibitor. In a panel of HER2-positive cell lines and xenograft samples, nuclear HER3 was observed only in the resistant cells. In addition, nuclear HER3 was associated with poor progression-free and overall survivals in HER2-positive breast cancer patients. It was also found that HER3 phosphorylation was maintained in acquired trastuzumab resistant cells, which was contributed by the ligand independent interaction of MET and HER3. Higher MET expression was associated with better overall survival in HER2-positive, breast cancer patients who were not treated with trastuzumab. Conclusions Nuclear HER3 was found in trastuzumab resistant cells and appeared to result from HER3 proteolytic cleavage mediated by ADAM17 and gamma-secretase. Further studies are required to investigate its mechanism and to identify the HER3 cleavage sites. MET was a key factor in maintaining HER3 phosphorylation during trastuzumab resistance. Lastly, nuclear HER3 and MET could be two potential biomarkers in HER2-positive breast cancer.

The human epidermal growth-factor like receptor (HER) family of receptor tyrosine kinases are important targets for cancer therapy. The family consists of four members - EGFR, HER2, HER3 and HER4 - that normally transfer stimulatory signals from extracellular growth factors to the intracellular signalling network. Over-activation of these receptors leads to uncontrolled cell proliferation and is seen in several types of tumours. The aim of the studies reported in this thesis was to study the uptake and effects of affibody molecules against EGFR, HER2 and HER3 in cultured cells. Affibody molecules are affinity proteins originally derived from one of the domains of protein A, and their small size and robust structure make them suitable agents for tumour targeting and therapy. Papers I and II of this thesis concern EGFR-specific affibody molecules, which were shown to be more similar to the antibody cetuximab than the natural ligand EGF in terms of cellular uptake, binding site and internalisation rate. In addition, fluorescence-based methods for the quantification of internalisation were evaluated. In the studies reported in papers III and IV, HER2-specific affibody molecules were utilised as carriers of radionuclides. Paper III reports that different cell lines exhibit different radiosensitivities to 211At-labelled affibody molecules; radiosensitivity was found to correlate with cell geometry and the rate of internalisation. Paper IV discusses the use of 17-AAG, an agent that induces HER2 internalisation and degradation, to force the internalisation of 211At- and 111In-labelled affibody molecules. Papers V and VI describe the selection and maturation of HER3-specific affibody molecules, which were found to compete with the receptor’s natural ligand, heregulin, for receptor binding. These affibody molecules were demonstrated to inhibit heregulin-induced HER3 activation and cell proliferation. The studies summarised in this paper will hopefully contribute to a better understanding of these affibody molecules and bring them one step closer to being helpful tools in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Background Trastuzumab resistance imposes a major limitation to the successful treatment of HER2 positive breast cancer. The expression of HER4 and its prognostic value is controversial in breast cancer. Furthermore, its role in trastuzumab treatment and resistance in HER2 positive breast cancer has not been reported. Methods The effects of trastuzumab on HER4 cleavage and its localisation were studied in both parental and trastuzumab-resistant SKBR3 and BT474 cells using western blot, RT-PCR, nuclear fractionation and confocal microscopy. Tissue microarrays consisting of a cohort of HER2 positive breast cancer patients were stained for HER4 by immunohistochemistry and the results were correlated with patients’ outcome. This study also assessed HER4 expression in the tumor samples from a window study of trastuzumab alone or in combination with neoadjuvant chemotherapy in HER2 positive breast cancer patients. Results Trastuzumab treatment upregulated HER4 mRNA, and increased expression of both 80 and 180 kDa HER4 protein isoforms, and induced nuclear translocation of 80kDa HER4 protein isoforms, which the results similar to heregulin stimulation. This was also seen in trastuzumab resistant cells although HER4<sub>80kDa</sub> and nuclear HER4 decreased upon overnight withdrawal of trastuzumab in resistant cell lines. In addition, knockdown of HER4 protein expression by specific siRNAs increased trastuzumab sensitivity and reversed trastuzumab resistance in SKBR3 and BT474 cells, confirming the importance of HER4 in trastuzumab response. This study also showed that trastuzumab-induced HER4 nuclear translocation is due to HER4 activation and cleavage since γ-secretase inhibitor (GSi) and neratinib prevented the process when combined with trastuzumab treatment, correlating with an increased apoptosis and decreased cell viability. There was also increased nuclear HER4 expression in tumors from both BT474 xenografts and from patients with breast cancer treated with trastuzumab monotherapy. Furthermore, nuclear HER4 predicted poor clinical response to trastuzumab monotherapy in patients undergoing a window study and was a poor prognostic factor in HER2 positive breast cancer. Conclusions This study suggests HER4 activation, cleavage and nuclear translocation play a key role in trastuzumab resistance in HER2 positive breast cancer. Nuclear HER4 could be a novel predictive and prognostic biomarker in HER2 positive breast cancer patients.

Rowling, and stared by the character Harry Potter have been studied by the
contemporaneous Criticism while the image spectacular society s concepts.
Among these concepts there are the saga, and the Greek hero, as structures of
the myth, and both are restructured by media mechanism action in favor of the
fabled contamination. In this study, the saga occupies the center of a heroic
circular action that remodels the hero concept, and also gives us the updated
decadent hero while image integrated to the mass society system. In a ludic
point of view, the series Harry Potter (seven books) are about sharing the hero s
(Harry Potter) qualities in counterpoint to the anti-hero Voldemort, who brings us
the construction of the intrigue, the effects of the dual decadent nature game:
bad vs. good, once humanized by the marvelous multimidia contemporaneous
element. In this way, the marvelous becomes the support roll in the adventures
of this hero in the gaps created by him through the remodeling saga. Under the
communicative perspective of the fanfiction, the potternian fiction corroborates
to the decadent heroic structure, by using a mixture of mass reading, and mass
writing into the classic saga, extended to the author-mass, and to the readermass,
creating the parenthood of the modern saga. This communicative link of
the reprogrammed saga made by way of magic and witchcraft element shave
lead up us to the study of this central theme, in three stages: the fiction and
fanfiction intertextuality in Harry Potter s series; the architext in construction:
Harry Potter s series; the fiction in intertextuality: the reading of magic
enunciations<br>Os best-sellers da Série Harry Potter, da autora britânica J. K. Rowling,
protagonizados pela personagem Harry Potter, têm sido estudados pela crítica
contemporânea sob o suporte de conceitos dados pela sociedade da imagem
espetacular. Entre estes conceitos figuram: a saga e o herói grego, como
estruturas do mito, ambos em reestruturação pela ação dos dispositivos
midiáticos em trabalho de contaminação fabular. Neste estudo, a saga ocupa o
centro de um círculo de ações heroicas que, ao mesmo tempo em que
modelam o conceito de heroicidade, atualizam o arquétipo do herói decadente
enquanto imagem, integrado ao sistema da sociedade de massa. Em operação
lúdica, a Série Harry Potter (7 Livros) concentra-se na partilha das qualidades
do herói Harry Potter em contraponto com o anti-herói Voldemort, assimilando,
na composição da intriga, os efeitos do jogo bem vs. mal em sua natureza dual
decadente, uma vez humanizada pelo elemento maravilhoso multimidiático
contemporâneo. Para tanto, o maravilhoso passa a ser o coadjuvante das
aventuras desse herói, nas fissuras por ele geradas pela via da remodelação
da saga. Sob a perspectiva comunicacional da fanfiction, a ficção potterniana
corrobora com a estruturação do herói decadente, por meio da mixagem leitura
e escrita de massa à saga clássica, extensiva ao autor-massa e leitor-massa,
compondo a parentela da saga moderna degenerada. Esse nexo
comunicacional da saga reprogramada pela magia e feitiçaria nos propiciou o
estudo da temática central em três momentos: A intertextualidade fiction e
fanfiction na Série Harry Potter de J. K. Rowling; O arquitexto em construção: a
Série Harry Potter; O ficcional na rede intertextual: a leitura das enunciações
mágicas

Les ionophores carboxyliques utilisés comme additifs anticoccidiens dans l’alimentation des volailles sont actuellement en cours de réévaluation, pour l’Autorité européenne de sécurité sanitaire des aliments, afin d’en évaluer le risque pour le consommateur. Ce travail a contribué à l’évaluation de la pharmacocinétique du monensin chez le poulet et le dindon et de la salinomycine chez le poulet, afin de pouvoir établir quelques généralités concernant les ionophores carboxyliques chez la volaille. Les trois exemples pris comme sujet d’étude lors de cette thèse ont montré une faible biodisponibilité orale et une élimination rapide conduisant à un temps d’attente calculé qui ne dépasse pas 22 heures. Lors de ces travaux, des expérimentations in vitro et in vivo ont également servi à affecter des valeurs aux paramètres permettant d’implémenter un modèle pharmacocinétique basé sur la physiologie. Ce modèle a été appliqué au couple poulet-monensin. Un modèle physiologique du monensin chez le poulet a donc été testé. This work has contributed to the knowledge of pharmacokinetics of monensin in chickens and turkeys and salinomycin in chickens in order to establish some generalities about carboxylic ionophores in poultry. The three examples taken as experimental subject during this thesis have shown a low oral bioavaibility and a rapid elimination driving to a calculated withdrawal period of less than 22 hours in any case. During these works, in vitro and in vivo experiments were used to attribute values to parameters allowing to implement a physiologically based pharmacokinetic model. A physiological model of monensin in chickens has then been tested. Simulations of this model reproduce concentrations observed after a single administration by intravenous or oral route but overestimate concentrations after repeated oral administrations in the supplemented food

Esta dissertação de Mestrado se ocupa da compreensão simbólica da trajetória do técnico do voleibol, relacionada com a figura mítica de Quíron e seus atletas, avaliando a importância do técnico como elemento fundamental para a construção do atleta. Este último, por suas muitas similaridades com o mito do herói, passa a ser entendido como uma figura ímpar, com o quê podemos entender suas façanhas. Sincronicamente, o atleta, por representar uma condição heroica, reclama pela presença fundamental de um mestre em sua formação. O mestre se atualiza na figura do treinador, aproximando-se e amplificando esta visão com o mito de Quíron. Destas associações decorrem elementos básicos para a melhor compreensão do desenvolvimento e estruturação de personalidade do atleta, embasando o aprimoramento do seu rendimento. Do encontro simbólico do técnico-mestre com seu atleta-herói, estuda-se o fenômeno da liderança, ampliado com mitologemas em que personagens líderes se fazem presentes. A par da amplificação mítica, a dissertação buscou elementos, para melhor compreensão da presente temática, em dados biográficos decorrentes de entrevistas com três técnicos do voleibol brasileiro, medalhistas olímpicos como jogadores ou técnicos: Bebeto de Freitas, Bernardinho e Giovane. No mito do herói são descritos sua origem, sua natureza, características de personalidade, condições de nascimento e morte, seus trabalhos e ritos iniciáticos, além de sua importância civilizatória. No mito de Quíron, descrito de forma detalhada, retoma-se a temática de sua origem, seu nascimento, sua criação e recebimento dos ensinos das artes, circunstâncias e consequências de seu ferimento, bem como sua nobreza de caráter. A dissertação tece considerações gerais sobre o quanto sua realização mobilizou emocionalmente o autor, a par de fazer comentários sobre os ensinamentos encontrados nas falas dos três técnicos. Ela explicita, fundamentalmente, a correlação simbólica entre a figura do técnico de voleibol, exercendo-se pela função polar do mentor, com a figura do atleta deste esporte, na função polar complementar do aprendiz<br>This master degree dissertation occupies of a symbolic comprehension of the volleyballs coach pathway related with the mythic figure of Quiron and its athletes, evaluating the coachs importance as a fundamental element for the athletes construction. The athlete, as it has a lot of similarities with the heros myth is understood as a unique figure, as we can understand its achievements. Synchronously, the athlete, as a representative of a heroic condition, asks for the masters presence in its formation. The master actualizes in the coachs figure approximating and increasing this view with the Quirons myth. Result of these associations derives basic elements for a better comprehension of the development and structuring of the athletes personality basing the refinement of its performance. The symbolic meeting between master-coach and hero-athlete, the leadership phenomenon is studied, amplified with the mythologems where leaders characters are presented. The dissertation searched elements, for a better comprehension of the set of themes presented, in the biographical information of the three coaches, olympic medalists, as an athlete or as a coach, of the Brazilian volleyball: Bebeto de Freitas, Bernardinho and Giovane. The heros myth is described in: its origin, its nature, personality traits, birth and death conditions, its works and beginning ceremonies, its civilization importance. In the Quirons myth, detailed described, retakes the origin of its themes, birth, as it was created and how received its instructions about arts, the circumstances they were wounded and the consequences of its wound, as the nobility of its character. The paper shows general considerations on how its realization emotionally mobilized its author, along with comments and observations on teachings found in the speeches of the three coaches. The paper explains, fundamentally, the symbolic correlation between the volleyballs coach, playing by the mentors polar function, with the figure of the volleyballs athlete, playing by the complement polar function of apprentice

Previous issue date: 2010-08-12<br>The objective of this thesis is to analyze the establishment and incorporation of the heroic figure of Lieutenant Antônio João Ribeiro in the south of the former Mato Grosso. In fact, the
Paraguayan attack against the Military Colony of Dourados, which led to Antonio's death at the beginning of the Paraguayan War, was a trivial event to the conflict. It remained
anonymous until it was recovered by the Brazilian Army in the early decades of the 20th century. The professionalization experienced by the Army in that period is the first step in
order to understand the reason why that happened and why the figure of Antônio João was rescued and reintroduced into the present. In the same period, in Mato Grosso, a riot raises for
the creation of its identity, through various actions whose aim was to enhance the qualities of the state, particularly the population; entities like IHMT and their publications tried to form an identity for Mato Grosso, unlike the depiction of savagery and wilderness, commonly associated with the region. Hence, characters like Lieutenant Antônio João started being
valued and celebrated by the intellect of Mato Grosso, resulting in the consolidation and popularization of the heroic figure of the military. Based on a brief survey about the beginning of the conflict, there is an attempt to narrate the episode of the invasion and the resistance of the garrison, reinforced throughout the century by the supposed existence of a
ticket or a phrase used by the military, now widespread and irrevocably accepted. The initiatives to make the military a hero were also analyzed, especially the publications of military-memoirist works by military authors or by those who identified with the institution, and also publications of the traditional Mato Grosso historiography and of the academic universe. The construction of Monumento aos Heróis da Laguna e Dourados (Monument to the Heroes from Laguna and Dourados), in Rio de Janeiro, is also crucial to understand the creation of the myth Antônio João. Finally, it checks certain elements in the incorporation of Lieutenant Antônio João Ribeiro specifically in the municipality of Dourados, presented in the speech about its historical formation, throughout the 20th century, through the analysis of identifying elements, for example, specific publications about Dourados, by laws, protocols of associations, the construction of monuments. Thus, it will be possible to understand the ownership of the hero Antônio João in the town of Dourados, in the state of Mato Grosso<br>O objetivo desta dissertação é analisar a criação e incorporação da figura heróica do Tenente Antônio João Ribeiro no sul do antigo Mato Grosso. O ataque paraguaio à Colônia Militar dos
Dourados, que resultou na morte do comandante Antônio João no início da Guerra do Paraguai, foi um acontecimento de pouca expressão para o conflito, e permaneceu praticamente no anonimato até ser recuperado pelo Exército brasileiro nas primeiras décadas do século XX. A profissionalização vivenciada pelo Exército no período é ponto de partida para compreender por que o episódio e a figura de Antônio João são resgatados e
reintroduzidos no presente, naquele período. Em Mato Grosso, no mesmo período, vê-se surgir um movimento de construção de uma identidade mato-grossense, através de diversas
ações cujo objetivo era enaltecer as qualidades do estado, em especial, da população; entidades como o IHMT e suas publicações buscavam formar uma identidade mato-grossense,
diferente da representação de barbárie e sertão, comumente associados à região. A partir disso, personagens como o Tenente Antônio João passaram a ser valorizados e enaltecidos
pela intelectualidade mato-grossense, resultando em uma consolidação e popularização da figura heróica do militar. A partir de um breve levantamento sobre o início do conflito, buscase narrar o episódio da invasão e resistência da guarnição, reforçada ao longo do século pela suposta existência de um bilhete e de uma frase dita pelo militar, hoje difundidos e irrevogavelmente aceitos. Também foram analisadas as iniciativas tendentes a heroicizar o militar, principalmente as publicações de obras de caráter militar-memorialistas de autores militares ou identificados com a instituição, e também publicações da historiografia tradicional mato-grossense e do universo acadêmico. The HER2 receptor is overexpressed in 7-34% of gastric cancer (GC) tumors, being a potential therapeutic target. Trastuzumab, an anti-HER2 monoclonal antibody, in combination with platinum therapy was approved in 2010 as first-line treatment for advanced GC tumors overexpressing HER2. Despite the clinical benefit of trastuzumab, development of acquired resistance to treatment limits the efficacy of trastuzumab.
To study the mechanisms of trastuzumab acquired resistance we generated, upon chronic exposure to trastuzumab, a trastuzumab-resistant cell line derived from the human HER2-positive GC cell NCI-N87, hereafter named NTR2.4. The resistant phenotype of NTR2.4 cell line was associated with an increased basal activation of SRC, MAPK/ERK and PI3K/mTOR HER2 downstream pathways that persisted upon exposure to trastuzumab. Trastuzumab treatment induced a compensatory upregulation of HER3 and an increased expression of the HER family ligands EGF, AREG, HB-EGF, and NRG1 in NTR2.4 compared with the trastuzumab-sensitive NCI-N87 cell line. Ligand stimulation induced resistance to trastuzumab in NCI-N87 cells. These results were replicated in another model of trastuzumab-resistance, OTR6 cell line, suggesting an important role of HER receptor plasticity and HER family ligand in trastuzumab efficacy and resistance. Analysis of clinical samples from HER2-positive GC patients treated with trastuzumab showed higher EGF concentration in serum samples and increased EGF mRNA expression in tumor biopsies at trastuzumab progression compared with samples previous to trastuzumab treatment.
Treatment with Pan-HER, a novel antibody mixture against EGFR, HER2, and HER3, was effective in both trastuzumab-sensitive and trastuzumab-resistant cell lines and also in the presence of ligands. Altogether, our results suggested that Pan-HER would be a potential candidate to overcome trastuzumab resistance in advanced GC patients.<br>El receptor HER2 està sobreexpressat en 7-34% dels tumors de càncer gàstric (CG), essent una diana terapèutica clau. Trastuzumab, un anticòs monoclonal anti-HER2, en combinació amb la teràpia basada en platí, va ser aprovat al 2010 com el tractament de primera línia per a tumors de CG avançats i amb sobreexpressió de HER2. Malgrat el benefici clínic del trastuzumab, el desenvolupament de resistència adquirida en limiten la seva eficàcia.
Per tal d’estudiar els mecanismes de resistència adquirida al trastuzumab vam generar, a través d’una exposició crònica al trastuzumab, una línia cel·lular resistent a trastuzumab derivada de la línia cel·lular humana HER2 positiva i sensible al trastuzumab NCI-N87, anomenada NTR2.4. El fenotip resistent de la línia cel·lular NTR2.4 es va associar a una major activació basal de SRC i de les vies senyalitzadores de HER2, MAPK/ERK i PI3K/mTOR, malgrat el tractament amb trastuzumab. Trastuzumab va induir sobre-regulació de HER3 i una major expressió dels lligands de la família HER: EGF, AREG, HB-EGF i NRG1 en NTR2.4 en comparació amb la seva línia sensible al trastuzumab, NCI-N87. L’estimulació amb lligands va induir resistència a trastuzumab a la línia cel·lular NCI-N87. Aquests resultats es van replicar en un altre model de resistència a trastuzumab, la línia cel·lular OTR6, suggerint un paper important de la plasticitat dels receptors HER i dels lligands de la família HER en l’eficàcia i resistència al trastuzumab. L'anàlisi de mostres clíniques de sèrum pacients de CG HER2 positius tractats amb trastuzumab va demostrar que la concentració d'EGF en sèrum i els nivells de mRNA del biòpsies tumorals era superior a la progressió al trastuzumab en comparació amb les mostres prèvies al tractament amb trastuzumab.
El tractament amb Pan-HER, basat en varis anticossos contra els receptors EGFR, HER2 i HER3, va ser efectiu tant en les línies sensibles com en les línies resistents al trastuzumab, fins i tot en presència de lligands. En conjunt, els nostres resultats suggereix Pan-HER com un potencial candidat per a superar la resistència a trastuzumab en pacients amb CG avançat.

This paper is a complement to the creative audio miniseries, HERE / NOT HERE. Its purpose is to analyse the concept of home from an academic perspective, both as complement and as perspective to the audio series’ autobiographical nature. Through philosophical, reflexive enquiry that analyses home’s connection to place, landscape, memory, senses and the body, this paper answers the question - ‘what does home mean to others’? In conjunction with the audio series, this paper also answers the question - ‘what do we talk about when we talk about home’? The paper starts with an introduction to the idea of home and the project as a whole, before diving into a discussion on podcasting, what it is, how podcasts are produced, and how this project fits into the existing podcasting landscape. After laying that knowledge base, the paper then turns to academic research theory, arguing that this project adds to an academic library of reflexive enquiry and subverted fieldwork. Following that, the paper discusses the academic theory of both of place and home, before deconstructing home and looking at how home interacts with other facets of the human experience, namely - the self, childhood, memory, the senses and the body. Throughout, the paper connects academic theory to the podcast’s creative elements. As such, it provides a context for the podcast’s two series - one of which looks at home through the lens of the senses, the other through the lens of the body, while also discussing other aspects of home. Previous work has failed to look at home from such a comprehensive perspective; this paper aims to tie together those threads, as well as put forth autobiographical self-reflection as fuel for both creative and academic work. In this way, this paper provides an academic backbone to the audio project’s creative enquiry. The paper itself also provides its own findings, the main one being this - when we talk about home, we talk about ourselves.

Superheroes of comics have played a similar role in modern times not only because of their innumerable mediatic appearances, but because they are a direct or indirectly grounded form of representation in the heroic figure in the society of diverse cultures. In this scenario, Batman, hero of the comics, stands out in popularity and brings in one of the most well-known brands in pop culture and most valued of the cultural industry. However, in order to understand the representative strength of the character as a brand, it is necessary, first, to analyze the journey of the character, from its creation, to the media in which it is published, as well as the planned associations of Develop the narratives of the adventures of the hero, completely based on the concepts and mythical characteristics that form this type of character.<br>A figura representativa do herói mitológico tem uma importante significação para toda e qualquer sociedade. Super-Heróis de Histórias em Quadrinhos exercem, em eras modernas, um papel semelhante, não apenas por suas inúmeras aparições midiáticas, mas sim, por serem uma forma de representação, direta ou indiretamente fundamentadas, na figura heroica, na sociedade de culturas diversas. Nesse cenário, Batman, herói oriundo dos quadrinhos, destaca-se em popularidade e acarreta em uma das marcas mais conhecidas na Cultura Pop e mais valorizadas da indústria cultural. Entretanto, para que se compreenda a força representativa do personagem como marca, é necessário, antes, que haja uma análise da jornada deste, desde a sua criação, aos meios de comunicação em que o mesmo é veiculado, bem como as associações planejadas, de desenvolver as narrativas das aventuras do herói, completamente fundamentadas nos conceitos e características míticas que formam esse tipo de personagem.

Entendo que a maneira como se elegem esses herÃis deixa ver uma perspectiva prÃpria de pensar e escrever a HistÃria, portanto, de olhar para o passado. General TibÃrcio certamente nÃo fora o primeiro nem o Ãltimo chamado de herÃi pelo CearÃ, porÃm, nas aÃÃes de determinados grupos - Instituto HistÃrico do CearÃ, imprensa, Museu do CearÃ, publicaÃÃes militares- notamos a intenÃÃo de tornÃ-lo um herÃi cearense que representasse o Cearà (a parte) perante (o todo) a pÃtria Brasil. We understand that the way they elect these heroes lets see their own perspective of thinking and writing history, therefore, to look at the past. General TibÃrcio certainly was not the first or the last called hero for CearÃ, however, the actions of certain groups - Cearà Historical Institute, press, Cearà Museum, militares poblications - we were noted the intention to make it a hero from Cearà who represented Cearà (part) in front (all) the country Brazil. The proposed cut is between 1887-1937, the empire ends and beginning of the Republic in Brazil, at which time the Republic was taking its first steps and sought to consolidate and legitimize. Cearà intended to have a hero who figured in the history of Brazil. We can say that his figure was promoted shortly after his death, when, in 1887, the square in the center of the city gets its name. In 1888, the monument is inagurated in the center of the square, and this whole process reported in the press, especially the newspaper "Liberator" in "Column Monument Tiburcio," written by the newspaper during 1887 and 1888. When the centenary of his birth was approaching, 1937, it took place in the magazines of Cearà Historical and Geographical Instituite, and the Historic Museum of CearÃ, in 1934 and 1935, with the acquisition of "Biographical objects" and ordered paint by the director, EusÃbio de Sousa. And finally, with the birth centenary commemoration with the celebration of achievement in Praca General Tiburcio and organization of a biography whose title was: General Tiburcio: Great Soldier and Thinker. This biography was organized by EusÃbio de Sousa (Director of the Museum and the State Public Archives.) The sources used in the research are, in summary: Squares; Monuments; Newspapers, Biographies; Journal of Cearà Historical Institute and the collection of Cearà Museum.

Esta análise tem em conta a relação entre o que se conhece acerca de Gungunhana pelos dados históricos e o que foi feito da sua figura enquanto personagem literária.À luz desta análise, veremos como se poderá Gungunhana enquadrar numa classificação de herói ou de anti-herói e como cada escritor constrói a sua personagem literária de acordo com vários factores, sendo eles o género de narrativa, o tipo de direção de enredo, entre outros. Este trabalho incide sobre a figura de Gungunhana através do prisma da literatura, e não tem o objetivo de comprovar ou negar episódios históricos, mas sim ponderar acerca de como a sua figura é decifrada e rearranjada, neste caso pelos escritores em questão.<br>In this paper we intend to analyze three literary works about the historical character of Gungunhana: Ualalapi by Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa (1990), As Andorinhas (2008) by Paulina Chiziane and Gungunhana o Último Rei de Moçambique (2013) by Manuel Ricardo Miranda. This analysis will account the connection between what is historically known about Gungunhana and what has been done about the fictionalization of his character in literature. In the light of this analysis we will see how can Gungunhana fit in the notion of hero or anti hero and how each writer will build his literary character depending on several factors, like the type of the narrative, the direction of the story, among others. L'échec à réduire la mortalité des patientes atteintes de carcinomes ovariens est certainement le résultat d'une dissémination précoce des cellules cancéreuses sur des sites intra-abdominaux secondaires. Bien que, dans de nombreux cas, la première ligne de chimiothérapie peut conduire à constater un état de rémission complète apparente, l'immense majorité des patientes rechutent dans les 18 à 28 mois suivant le diagnostic. Cette rechute est liée à la persistance de cellules carcinomateuses créant une maladie résiduelle (maladie infra-clinique ou encore maladie micrométastatique) typiquement péritonéale. C'est la repopulation tumorale à partir de cette maladie résiduelle qui est à l'origine d'une rechute clinique devenant rapidement symptomatique et conduisant le plus souvent au décès des patientes. L'activité élevée du Topotecan dans les xénogreffes intra-péritonéales de cellules ovariennes (OVCAR-3) nous a permis de créer un modèle pré-clinique de la maladie infra-clinique. Ce modèle de maladie résiduelle de carcinome ovarien chez la souris mime parfaitement l'histoire naturelle des carcinomes ovariens observés en clinique. Ce modèle nous a permis d'évaluer l'effet du traitement au Trastuzumab (TZ, anticorps monoclonale anti-HER2) sur l'amélioration de l'intervalle libre et la survie globale des souris en situation de la maladie résiduelle péritonéale. Nous avons montré qu'un traitement avec du Trastuzumab commencé tôt aboutit dans la plupart des cas à une augmentation très significative de la survie des animaux au point d'observer leur guérison. Cet effet se caractérise au niveau cellulaire par une légère inhibition de la voie de transduction du signal de prolifération (MAPK) et par une inhibition claire de l'expression de la voie de survie (AKT) des cellules OVCAR-3 ne montrant de façon interressante aucune amplification ni sur-expression d'HER2. .<br>Biological effect of HER2 in a model human ovarian carcinoma l malignancies in women. Although first-line chemotherapy induces complete clinical remission in many cases of epithelial ovarian cancer, relapse usually occurs 18–28 months from diagnosis due to micrometastases. The first part of our study was designed to aimed to evaluate the effect of trastuzumab on disease-free and overall survival in a specially designed murine model of ovarian cancer (OVCAR-3), which mimicked the natural history of human micrometastatic disease. Trastuzumab can cure the mice if started soon after induction chemotherapy. It can modestly inhibit the proliferation through mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signal transduction and clearly inhibit AKT phosphorylation, which is involved in survival pathway. As OVCAR-3 cell lines show no HER2 amplification nor overexpression, these results warrant further studies to assess the efficacy of trastuzumab in the early stage of relapse in cancer models other than those overexpressing HER2. .

O estudo propõe-se a investigar nas mídias a consolidação e a desconstrução do discurso vinculados à questão do mito no esporte, que atinge o imagético humano na medida em que há uma representação simbólica do esportista incorporando o arquétipo do herói. A mesma força que as configurações midiáticas predominantes imprimem na formação do mito também é usada no sentido de decomposição da imagem. O universo do esporte no Brasil, em especial o futebol, alcançou uma espetacularização tal que, em consonância com aspectos econômicos, políticos, sociológicos, psicológicos, permeia o inconsciente coletivo alimentado pelos processos comunicativos das sociedades contemporâneas. Tem-se como objeto de estudo um aspecto específico presente nas mídias o poder de atribuir significação bem como uma outra face em que as mesmas instâncias midiáticas podem sucumbir a um herói, o qual outrora fora sustentado pelas narrativas. No contexto dos rituais de passagem, delineados por Campbell, o retorno de Ronaldo ao futebol brasileiro pretende ser analisado à luz do comportamento midiático com base na observação do noticiário referente ao jogador vinculado pelos jornais O Estado de S. Paulo e Folha de S. Paulo mediante o cenário esportivo atual determinado pela carência de heróis. Espera-se, contudo, contribuir para a configuração de quadros conceituais e a compreensão dos discursos da mídia em relação à alimentação/ desconstrução do mito, mediante um reordenamento com as constantes transformações tecnológicas.<br>The study proposes to investigate in the media the consolidation and deconstruction of discourse linked to the issue of myth in the sport, that reaches the human imagery in the proportion that there is a symbolic representation of the sportsman incorporating the archetypal hero. The same force that the media settings predominant acting in the formation of the myth is also used in the direction of image decomposition. The universe of sport in Brazil, in special the football, has reached such a spectacle that, in line with economic aspects, political, sociological, psychological, permeates the collective unconscious powered by communicative processes of contemporary societies. It has the subject of this study a specific aspect present in the media - the power of assign significance - as well as another feature in the same media instances may succumb to a hero, that was once supported by them. In the context of rites of passage, introduced by Campbell, the return of Ronaldo to Brazilian football aims to be analyzed according to the media behavior based on the news observation concerning to the player linked to the newspapers O Estado de S. Paulo and Folha de S. Paulo considering the current sportive scenario determined by the lack of heroes. It is expected, however, contribute to the settings of conceptual extension and the understanding of the media discourses regarding to the support / deconstruction of the myth through a reorganization with the Constant technological changes.

tragedy but a tragic romance with components, as if objectively demonstrate. Note
that in the work of Assis Brazil the main character is a woman, Micaela, which breaks
with the current diegéticos standards to perform their intimate desires and their
passions. As demand is shown, this break animates the tragic components of plot.<br>Esta dissertação tem por objetivo analisar o romance As virtudes da casa, do
escritor gaúcho Luiz Antonio de Assis Brasil, relacionando sua temática com a obra
trágica Agamêmnon, de Ésquilo. O efeito trágico é perceptível na narrativa, embora
a obra estudada não seja uma tragédia e sim um romance com componentes
trágicos, como se objetiva demonstrar. Ressalte-se que no texto de Assis Brasil a
personagem principal é uma mulher, Micaela, que rompe com os padrões diegéticos
vigentes para realizar os seus desejos íntimos e as suas paixões. Como procura se
demonstrar, essa ruptura anima os componentes trágicos do enredo.

Previous issue date: 2016-05-20<br>A pesquisa que propomos neste trabalho objetiva o estudo do processo de construção de personagens anti-heróis nos romances Una Vita (1892), Senilità (1898) e La coscienza di Zeno (1923), de Italo Svevo. Nossa tese é a de que as obras revisam o conceito de Identidade Nacional Italiana ao tematizar a crise dos personagens protagonistas e/ou narradores nas obras estudadas, num contexto político-social em transformação acelerada na Itália do final do século XIX, início do século XX, por meio da ironia e da paródia. A trajetória dos personagens e os elementos narrativos que os caracterizam estimulam a discussão sobre o conhecimento de si mesmo, instaurando questionamentos a respeito dos postulados empreendidos por autores da tradição literária italiana que tinham por objetivo construir o sentimento de patriotismo e Identidade Nacional para os italianos. Nossa hipótese de trabalho fundamenta-se no conceito cunhado por Linda Hutcheon intitulado “Metaficção historiográfica”, por observarmos que os textos se oferecem como discursos que entrelaçam as funções do literário, do histórico e do teórico. Tomamos como base, ainda, autores da Historiografia literária italiana, da história, teóricos da teoria literária, bem como aqueles que fazem parte da fortuna crítica do escritor. Entre eles, destacamos: De Sanctis (1997), Raimondi (1998), Campbell (2007, 1990), Eliade (1963, 1069, 1972), Hobsbawm (1995, 2008, 2014), Hall (1999), Anderson (2008), Galasso (1997, 2012), Bechelloni (1991), Bollati (1983) e Della Loggia (1998).<br>The present study aims at analysing the composition of the antihero character in the novels Una Vita (1892), Senilità (1898) and La coscienza di Zeno (1923), by Italo Svevo. Our hipothesis is that those novels review the concept of national identity by bringing about the protagonists’ and the narrators’ crisis within a context of accelerated political and social transformation in Italy, by the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, by the means of irony and parody. The performance of the characters and the narrative elments of the story stimulate the discussion on self consciousness, raising questions regarding statements made by traditional italian authors seeking to fabricate the feeling of patriotism and National Identity for italian people. Our hypothesis is based on the concept of historiographic metafiction by Linda Hutcheon. This theory was chosen as we percieved that the novels can be seen as a discourse that assemble literary, historical ant theoretical functions. We also based our study on works by authors from Italian literary historiography, historical studies, literary theory as well as those that constitute critical readings of Italo Svevo’s work. The most important theoretical studies used in our analysis are by De Sanctis (1997), Raimondi (1998), Campbell (1990, 2007), Eliade (1963, 1069, 1972), Hobsbawm (1995, 2008, 2014), Hall (1999), Anderson (2008), Galasso (1997, 2012), Bechelloni (1991), Bollati (1983) e Della Loggia (1998).

Previous issue date: 2015-03-02<br>The purpose of this study was to analyze from the films about the Perseus myth, Clash of the
Titans (1981-2010), the way happens the adaptation of the myth for contemporary society
produced by the cinema; as a way of displaying to the current audience a form of past staging
and the use of mythology in a cultural context of contemporary, because it is about a movie
that portrays a historical period and creates in its narrative this aesthetic about the past, thus
contributing to the formation of a sense of history and its purposes in society. The myth is an
element that proves to be useful for generations like a means of instruction due to its
polysemy, being a common component in all civilizations, serving as a symbolic and
pedagogical reference for the people that use this range of knowledge. In the West one of the
mythical narratives which has great influence in society are the stories that compose the wide
Greek mythology. Among the various stories, we have the hero myth Perseus. Hero which
faces the Graeae, defeat the Gorgon Medusa, kill the sea monster and it gets king of Tiryns.
The cinema know seize these stories like these in their productions causing the Perseus myth
passed by two film adaptations in 1981 and 2010.<br>A proposta desse trabalho é analisar a partir dos filmes sobre o mito de Perseu, Fúria de Titãs
(1981-2010), a forma como acontece a adaptação do mito para a sociedade contemporânea à
produção pelo cinema; como meio de exibir para o público atual uma forma de encenação do
passado e de utilização da mitologia em um contexto cultural da contemporaneidade, pois
trata-se de um filme que retrata um período histórico e cria em sua narrativa essa estética
sobre o passado, colaborando assim para a formação de uma noção sobre a História e dos seus
usos na sociedade. O mito é um elemento que se mostra útil a várias gerações como meio de
instrução devido à sua polissemia, sendo um componente comum em todas as civilizações,
servindo como referencial simbólico e pedagógico para o povo que utiliza desse conjunto de
saberes. No Ocidente uma das narrativas míticas que possui grande influência na sociedade
são as histórias que compõem a vasta mitologia grega. Dentre as várias histórias temos o mito
do herói de Perseu. Herói que enfrenta as Gréias, derrota a Górgona Medusa, mata o monstro
marinho e se torna rei de Tirinto. O cinema sabe aproveitar essas histórias como essas em suas
produções fazendo com que o mito de Perseu fizesse duas aparições cinematográficas 1981 e
2010

short stories of the book Sagarana which are: São Marcos, A hora e a vez de Augusto
Matraga and Conversa de bois. Its objective, at the light of two approaches, takes the hero as
a specific category for analysis. The first one has as a fundament the recognition of a formal
structure which gives bases to popular narratives as a textual matrix of the selected short
stories. The figure of the hero, animated by the sequence fight-test-overcoming, coming from
the popular universe, indicates the myth as a speculative and philosophical idea about
existence. On the thematic basis of the formal unit of our short stories, we identify the
variants of the Menippean satire that directly reassemble the Carnival folklore (the collective
time which makes possible the neighborhood of the things and phenomena from where we
come from and to where we will go back). The most relevant peculiarity of the Menippean
genre that we captured in our profile is the creation of extraordinary situations by the games
of oxymorons with the aim of provoking the experimentation of a philosophical idea. The
thematic character of the short stories of carnival type is closely connected to the historiccultural
system of the common life of the country person. Thus, the second approach intends
to follow the cultural and symbolic logic of the socio-historic structure represented,
promoting an investigation that ranges from the imaginary of a selected group (beliefs, code
of honor ad revenge) to the social relations and conversely. Our analytical path around the
work of Sagarana has as the fundamental critical idea the notion that the rosiana art triggers a
reflection in which multiple correspondences can come up from a constellation of elements
which are apparently disparate. On the selected short stories, we devote ourselves to study
how the moral and historical happenings of the country man s life, constructing his vision of
the world, intersect with the cyclical character (mythic time) that the work interestedly
assumes, creating its artistic unit.<br>Esta tese realiza um estudo na obra de Guimarães Rosa, detendo-se, especificamente sobre
três contos no livro Sagarana, que são: São Marcos, A hora e vez de Augusto Matraga e
Conversa de bois. Seu objetivo toma como categoria específica de análise, o herói,
orientando-se segundo duas abordagens. A primeira tem como fundamento o reconhecimento
de uma estrutura formal que sustenta as narrativas populares como matriz textual dos contos
selecionados. A figura do herói, animada pela série luta-provação-superação, advinda do
universo popular, evidencia o mito como ideia especulativa e filosófica sobre a existência. Na
base temática da unidade formal de nossos contos identificamos as variantes da sátira
menipeia, que remontam diretamente ao folclore carnavalesco (o tempo coletivo que torna
possível a vizinhança das coisas e dos fenômenos de onde nós saímos e para onde
voltaremos). A particularidade mais relevante do gênero da menipeia que capturamos em
nosso recorte é a criação de situações extraordinárias pelos jogos de oximoros, com o intuito
de provocar a experimentação de uma ideia filosófica. O caráter temático dos contos de tipo
carnavalesco está por sua vez vinculado estreitamente ao sistema histórico-cultural da vida
comum do sertanejo. Assim, a segunda abordagem pretende seguir a lógica cultural e
simbólica da estrutura sócio-histórica representada, propiciando um trajeto investigativo que
vai do imaginário de um grupo bem definido (crenças, código de honra e vingança) às
relações sociais e vice-versa. Nosso percurso analítico em torno da obra Sagarana toma como
ideia crítica fundamental a noção de que a arte rosiana desencadeia uma reflexividade em que
múltiplas correspondências podem surgir a partir de uma constelação de elementos
aparentemente díspares. Nos contos selecionados, dedicamo-nos a estudar como os
acontecimentos morais e históricos da vida do sertanejo, constituindo a sua visão de mundo,
cruzam-se com o caráter cíclico (tempo mítico) que a obra assume interessadamente,
realizando a sua unidade artística.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior<br>De maneira ampla, aborda-se nesta dissertação a representação do herói olímpico no Jornal do Brasil na segunda metade do século XX. A hipótese preliminar, seguindo a conclusão de Helal, Cabo e Marques (2009), é que, diferentemente das Copas do Mundo, nas Olimpíadas, os jornalistas esportivos se valeriam de um arcabouço textual distinto para descrever seus objetos de análise os esportes e os atletas e para construir histórias de vida. Enquanto os heróis oriundos do futebol seriam dotados de um talento natural e o treino ocuparia uma posição secundária nas narrativas vitoriosas, os heróis dos ditos esportes amadores alcançariam a glória por meio do esforço abnegado e da dedicação aos treinamentos. Por meio de uma análise das narrativas, tendo como corpus de investigação as edições do Caderno de Esportes do referido jornal ao longo das treze Olimpíadas da segunda metade do século XX de Helsinque-1952 à Sydney-2000 , verifica-se a validade dessa conjectura.<br>In a broad sense, its discussed in this dissertation the representation of the Olympic hero in the Jornal do Brasil newspaper in the second half of the twentieth century. My preliminary hypothesis, following the conclusion of Helal, Cabo and Marques (2009), is that, unlike what happens in World Cups, during the Olympics, sports journalists would tend to use a different text framework to describe their object of analysis (the sports ant the athletes) and to construct life stories. While the heroes coming from football would be provided with a natural talent and training would occupy a seconday position in the victorius narratives, the heroes of the so called amateur sports would achieve glory through the selfless efforts and dedication to training. Through an analysis of the narratives, having as corpus of research the editions of the Sports Section of the referred newspaper over the thirteen Olympics of the second half of the twentieth century from Helsinque to Sydney-1952-2000 , I verify the validity of this conjecture.

Previous issue date: 2004<br>Esta tese teve como objetivos compreender e analisar as representações sociais de esportes na ótica de grupos de pessoas cegas; e mapear as representações sociais de esporte a partir dos cegos congênitos. O mapeamento do campo de atuação esportiva no qual estão envolvidos indivíduos portadores de deficiência visual congênita foi feito no sentido de analisarmos, à luz da representação social, o significado da prática de esporte, levando em consideração os elementos que os grupos consideram como centrais, no que se refere: a) o que pensam sobre a prática esportiva; b) como praticam o esporte; c) como gostariam que fosse a prática esportiva e o que esperam dos resultados dessa prática; d) a identificação da trajetória na busca da condição de herói do indivíduo cego praticante de esporte; e) a construção do núcleo de representação do cego praticante de esporte. O presente estudo está inserido no Núcleo Temático Linguagem, Desenvolvimento e Ação Pedagógica. É um trabalho de natureza qualitativa e tem as características de um estudo descritivo. Em função da complexidade do fenômeno abordado, foram adotadas diferentes estratégias metodológicas com a intenção de captar aspectos distintos da composição da realidade. O estudo ficou, então, sob a orientação de uma metodologia pluri-referenciada: análise de conteúdo das entrevistas com cinqüenta e três cegos congênitos praticantes de esporte; associação de idéias com as palavras esporte, vitória, medalha, derrota, campeão, emoção, frustração, ídolo, a fim de buscar outros sentidos não explicitados diretamente nas entrevistas; análise de conteúdo das publicações de jornais com referência a participação de cegos praticantes de esportes. Esta análise nos possibilitou a constatação de representações relacionadas com o aspecto funcional da prática esportiva, a figura do herói, a normalidade, e o corpo. O estudo comprova que os cegos praticantes de esportes continuam a arcar com o ônus do estigma relacionado com os resultados obtidos nas competições esportivas, e também aponta caminhos alternativos em busca de superação no processo ensino-aprendizagem da Educação Física e do esporte para essas pessoas.<br>Salvador

The following thesis will address both the work I completed during my Graduate studies at the University of New Orleans (1992-96), as well as the collaborative work I executed in the years that followed. The range of materials used, individual subject matter, and the variations in presentation vary widely, but the development of concept and methodology will be illuminated by the analysis of these works under the central theme of collaboration. The works selected for presentation were chosen in order to exemplify both the thematic similarities and the conceptual dynamics of a body of work inspired by intellectual investigation and intuitive navigation on the landscape of creative possibilities.

Previous issue date: 2011-04-13<br>Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico<br>This study proposes a reflection on the treatment of the imaginary hero of the campaign of non-governmental organization Greenpeace on its website. The corpus was the editorials designed to promote each of its action front: Amazon, Climate and Energy, Nuclear, Ocean and Transgenic. The amount of five editorials were collected on April 18, 2010. In the social context, this NGO is inserted into a conflict between natural resources conservation and industrial and economic development. Furthermore, a change in the paradigms and values of social relations due to technological advances, and the emergence of cyberspace. The aim therefore is to understand how the relation between of the actions of Greenpeace and the imaginary hero benefits joining the cyber activism. For that we use a discourse analysis of the French line as theoretical and methodological, axis, including as main thinkers Patrick Charaudeau and Dominique Maingueneau, whose ideas have helped to examine how language is used in these editorials, studying its context, resulting in ideological discourse pervaded by the hero s imagery. The study revealed that the discursive techniques used in the editorials helped to create the ethos of the hero, the villain and the girl and that these elements appreciate the actions of Greenpeace to a heroic level.<br>Este estudo propõe uma reflexão sobre o tratamento dado ao imaginário do herói nas campanhas da organização não governamental Greenpeace, em seu site. O corpus de análise foi composto pelos editoriais elaborados para divulgar cada uma de suas frentes de ação: Amazônia, Clima e Energia, Nuclear, Oceano e Transgênicos. Foram ao total cinco editoriais, coletados no dia 18 de abril de 2010. No contexto social, esta ONG está inserida num conflito entre a preservação dos recursos naturais e desenvolvimento industrial e econômico. Além disso, considera-se também a mudança nos paradigmas e valores das relações sociais determinada pelo avanço tecnológico e o consequente surgimento do ciberespaço. O objetivo, portanto, é buscar entender como a relação das ações do Greenpeace com o imaginário do herói beneficia a adesão ao ciberativismo. Para isso usamos a Análise do Discurso da linha francesa como eixo teórico-metodológico, tendo como principais pensadores Patrick Charaudeau e Dominique Maingueneau, cujas ideias ajudaram a examinar a maneira como a linguagem é empregada nesses editoriais, estudando o seu contexto, resultando num discurso ideológico impregnado pelo imaginário do herói. Concluiu-se, que as técnicas discursivas utilizadas nos editoriais auxiliaram na criação do ethos do herói, do bandido e da vítima e que esses elementos valorizam as ações dos Greenpeace elevando a um patamar heróico.

Hippeastrum reticulatum var. striatifolium (Herb.) Herb. é uma espécie nativa no Brasil. Possui elevado potencial ornamental pela beleza de suas folhas perenes e floração anual. Moderadamente tolerante ao sombreamento, a torna indicada para uso em interiores. A produção de mudas é pouco estudada, refletindo em indisponibilidade e baixa difusão dessa espécie no mercado produtor e consumidor. Este trabalho teve por objetivo investigar aspectos relacionados à produção de mudas por micropropagação e por sementes. Bulbos de plantas existentes na Faculdade de Agronomia-UFRGS foram desinfestados com NaClO e termoterapia para micropropagação. Variações na posição de incubação (posição horizontal e vertical), concentrações de sacarose, reguladores de crescimento no meio de cultivo (BAP e ANA) e tamanho prévio dos bulbos foram avaliadas em relação à organogênese in vitro. Mudas micropropagadas foram aclimatizadas em diferentes substratos. Foi determinado o teor de umidade de sementes e avaliado o pré tratamento com frio e sua implicação na germinação. A desinfestação com NaClO 1,72% por 15‟ associada à imersão dos explantes por 30 minutos em água a 52°C diminuiu a contaminação in vitro sem ocasionar morte dos explantes. Explantes incubados na posição vertical em relação ao seu eixo polar apresentaram maior número e diâmetro de brotações, número e soma do comprimento de raízes e número de folhas por explante, em relação aos incubados na horizontal. Concentrações de sacarose próximas e menores que 60g L-1 aumentaram o número e tamanho de brotações, enquanto que menores que 50g L-1 melhoraram o enraizamento e a formação de folhas. A concentração testada de 100g L-1 foi prejudicial. A utilização de 6- benzilaminopurina (BAP) no meio de cultivo inibiu a formação de raízes e o diâmetro das brotações, enquanto a utilização de ácido naftaleno acético (ANA) aumentou o número de brotações. A combinação de ANA e BAP foi antagônica em relação à média do comprimento de raízes e folhas, com maior média observada na ausência de ambos. A presença de carvão ativado no meio de cultivo diminuiu os efeitos inibitórios do BAP. Explantes originários de bulbos com maior diâmetro formaram mudas maiores, mais numerosas e com maior massa de matéria fresca. A aclimatização de mudas micropropagadas foi eficiente em diversos substratos (sobrevivência > 90%), com destaque qualitativo à casca de Pinus compostada e quantitativo ao Comercial 1. Sementes maduras apresentaram teor de umidade próximo a 80%. A propagação por sementes foi possível, sem a necessidade de quebra de dormência com frio, com tempo médio de germinação em torno de 30 dias.<br>Hippeastrum reticulatum var. striatifolium (Herb.) Herb. is a native species on Brazil. Has high ornamental potential of its beautiful annual flowering and perennial leaves. Moderately tolerant to shade, makes it suitable for indoor use. Seedling production is poorly studied, reflecting in unavailability and low spread of this species in the producer and consumer markets. This work was aimed to investigate aspects related to seedling production through micropropagation and seedling. Bulbs of the plants conserved at the Faculty of Agronomy, UFRGS were disinfected with NaClO and thermotherapy for micropropagation. Variations in incubation position (horizontal and vertical), sucrose concentrations, growth regulators in the culture medium (BAP and NAA) and previous size of the bulbs, were evaluated for in vitro organogenesis. Seedlings were acclimatized in different substrates. The moisture content of seeds was determined and the pretreatment with cold as well as their involvement in germination were evaluated. The disinfection of the explants with 1.72% NaClO for 15' associated with the immersion of the explants for 30 minutes in water at 52 °C decreased contamination in vitro, without causing death. Explants incubated in an upright position on its polar axis showed higher germinating number and diameter as well as number and total root length and number of leaves per explants compared to those incubated horizontally. Concentrations of sucrose close and less than 60g L-1 increased the number and size of shoots, while less than 50 g L-1 improved rooting and leaf formation. The tested concentration of 100 g L-1 was harmful. The use of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) in the medium inhibited the formation of roots and the diameter of shoots, while the use of naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) increased the number of shoots. The combination of NAA and BAP was antagonistic in respect to length of roots and leaves, with the highest average observed in the absence of both. The presence of activated charcoal in the culture medium decreased the inhibitory effects of BAP. Explants originated from bulbs with highest diameter formed larger, more numerous and seedlings with more mass. The acclimatization of seedlings was efficient on various substrates (survival > 90 %), highlighting qualitative to Pinus bark composted and the quantitative to Commercial 1. Ripe seeds showed moisture content close to 80 %. Propagation by seed is possible, without the need to break dormancy with cold, with average germination time of around 30 days.

Uber rethinks public transit; Google Sidewalk Labs designs Toronto's waterfront with integrated mobility system; Elon Musk's Boring Company privately funds a rapid transit line from O'Hare Airport to downtown; Amazon provides CIA data and security services for sensitive information. Willingly or reluctantly, governments are handing over civic infrastructure to these companies. While reshaping the public realm at an unprecedented pace, tech companies also put public spaces at risk. In negotiation of mega-corporation tenancy, as seen in Amazon's RFP for its second headquarters, space becomes a bargaining chip between misaligned agendas of companies and governments. This thesis investigates the unusual architectural opportunities this risk could bring to the city, the corporation, and the citizens while acknowledging that machines, supported by automation, are progressively reorganizing our environment and we are surrendering our control in gradual but consequential ways. Amazon Here is our case study in the urban context of Chicago, an abandoned historic building retrofitted into a densely-packed, hyper-efficient machine that weaves together business and public-oriented spaces. This hypothetical development pushes for a model in which corporate-sponsored public architecture operates as the fourth industrial revolution's version of a company town, balancing Amazon's interests with those of the community. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo o estudo da representação do herói na obra literária As Andorinhas, de Paulina Chiziane, publicada em Maputo, em 2008, e no Brasil, no ano de 2013. A obra de três contos inspira-se em figuras históricas importantes à constituição da identidade moçambicana. Os heróis nacionais tratados na ficção da autora, entretanto, são narrados como personagens provenientes do universo mitológico. Com o propósito de compreender a finalidade da obra dentro do contexto social e histórico de Moçambique, este trabalho analisa o herói tanto pela sua representação simbólica, como por sua atuação no processo de desenvolvimento de uma identidade nacional em contraposição ao sistema colonial e suas mazelas. Portanto, o tema da busca da liberdade permeia a trilogia de contos e coloca o herói como o representante das transformações sociais no tempo histórico e representante das divindades no tempo mitológico.<br>The present paper aims to study the representation of the hero in the literary work The Swallows, from Paulina Chiziane, published in Maputo (2008) and in Brazil (2013). The short stories are inspired by important historical figures to the formation of Mozambican identity. These national heroes, however, are narrated as characters from the mythological universe. In order to understand the purpose of the literary work within the social and historical context of Mozambique, this paper analyzes the hero both for its symbolic representation, as for its role in the formation of a national identity in opposition to the colonial system and its ills process. Therefore, the theme of the pursuit of freedom permeates this trilogy and puts the hero as the representative of the social transformations in historical time and representative of the deities in the mythological time.

42.1-4, e o quarto, em Is 52.13-53.12. A interpretação messiânica desses textos
pelos escritores do Novo Testamento tem sido criticada e considerada uma
adequação aos propósitos particulares dos discípulos de Jesus Cristo. Contudo, a
tese indica a partir da exegese dos textos e do levantamento das antigas tradições
sobre a figura do Messias no Antigo Testamento, e entre os povos vizinhos de Israel
no Antigo Oriente Médio, que esses Cânticos contêm antigas tradições sobre o
Messias, e ao mesmo tempo propõe uma combinação peculiar de esperanças,
oferecendo renovação às tradições acerca da mesma figura. Os Cânticos do Servo
de Yahweh analisados aqui lançam mão, cada um à sua maneira, de tradições da
realeza e da profecia, sobrepujando amplamente as duas tradições. Em Dêutero-
Isaías, o antigo tema do Messias desenvolvido a partir da figura do rei, ganha traços
novos, e apresenta o Messias na figura do servo. Características literárias, éticas e
antropológicas do conceito mítico de herói ajudam a renovar e compor essa figura.
Considerando a pesquisa e a noção de que os Cânticos do Servo são tramas
textuais de alto contexto, não se justifica a exigência da crítica de uma afirmação
explícita e definitiva para se considerar esses textos como integrantes no
desenvolvimento da tradição do Messias. Uma das maneiras que dinamizam a
antiga tradição é o uso da linguagem e padrão do mito, que é capaz de fazer do
servo, o herói e o rei, e, por conseguinte o Messias.<br>The study object is the first Servant Song of Isaiah in Isa 42:1-4 and the fourth, in Isa
52:13-53:12. The messianic interpretation of these texts by the writers of the New
Testament has been criticized and considered an adaptation for the specific purpose
of the disciples of Jesus Christ. However, the thesis indicates, based on the exegesis
of the texts and the survey of the ancient traditions about the Messianic figure of the
Old Testament, and among the neighboring peoples of Israel in the Ancient Middle
East, that these Songs contain ancient traditions about the Messiah, and at the same
time it proposes a peculiar combination of hopes, offering a renovation of the
traditions around the same figure. The Servant Songs of Yahweh analyzed here,
each one in its own way, resort to the traditions of the royalty and of prophecy,
broadly surmounting the two traditions. In Deutero Isaiah, the ancient theme of the
Messiah developed on the figure of the king, gains new features and presents the
Messiah in the figure of the servant. Literary, ethical and anthropological
characteristics of the mythical concept of the hero help to renovate and compose this
figure. Considering the research and the notion that the Servant Songs are textual
plots of high context, the demand of the critics for an explicit and definitive affirmation
to consider these texts as integrating the development of the tradition of the Messiah
is not justified. One of the ways of making the ancientness of the tradition more
dynamic is the use of mythical language and patterns, which are capable of making
the servant into the hero and the king, and consequently, the Messiah.

This M.A. thesis is a critical study of Chen Jiangong's fiction, chiefly attempting to reveal the process of thematic development in this author's works by way of tracing the hero through non-hero to anti-hero. The first chapter, which is biographical, makes a brief account of Chen's family background, personal experience as well as the unique personality fostered by his ten year career as a coal-miner. The second chapter presents an analysis of the thematic defects of his early fiction, and meanwhile some technical matters are succinctly introduced. The third chapter deals with the stylistic traits -- subject matter, narrative technique and language -- of the three stories which left untouched in the previous chapter due to their different way of representation. In order to show clearly Chen's two styles, a comparison of these three stories with his other early works is frequently made. The fourth chapter is an interpretation of his two mature works "No. 9 Winch Handle Alley" and "Looking for Fun." The centre of attention is mainly concentrated on "the sense of tragicomedy" -- a philosophy of life rather than a mere technique Chen acquired after he disposed of former literary dogmas. The fifth chapter is devoted to a comparative study of his masterpiece "Curlylocks" and how it was influenced by J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye". The aspect of anti-heroism is especially stressed. Previous issue date: 2008-08-29<br>Essa dissertação desenvolve suas questões a partir da análise do Romanceiro da Inconfidência de Cecília Meireles(1953) e da Conferência proferida pela poetisa em 1955 na cidade de Ouro Preto. A autora recorre aos recursos estilísticos que caracterizam a forma de um Romanceiro rompendo com a construção do herói segundo o paradigma clássico ao aproximar a construção simbólica de Tiradentes da cultura popular, dos personagens marginalizados e da imagem de transgressão. Segundo nossa leitura, o discurso poético de Cecília traria em si o encontro de distintas temporalidades, mediante a confluência do passado colonial brasileiro no século XVIII, a aquisição e transformação do arquivo dos Inconfidentes no século XIX pela República e o momento de escritura da autora no século XX. .Dentro disso, trabalhamos com a busca da construção de identidade e nacionalismo produzidas pela autora modernista, no século XX, além da conseqüente construção da memória e da lírica no enveredar pelos arquivos da história brasileira.Observamos que é possível reconhecer a aproximação de duas formas de conhecimento fundamentais- o saber histórico e literário que alicerçam a composição de um conceito de história em consonância com Walter Benjamin nas suas Teses sobre a história. Para compreender a busca pelos arquivos da história brasileira efetuada pela poetisa utilizamos o arquivo como categoria teórica arquitetada por Derrida em Mal de Arquivo. O trabalho busca refletir sobre a construção do herói formulada pela artista modernista concebendo o mundo do texto como um espaço aberto onde se entremeiam e espelham os tempos e espaços que marcam a constituição de nossa nacionalidade e identidade a partir da ótica do intelectual moderno e do discurso como lugar de poder onde as questões políticas e sociais se ensejam.<br>This dissertation develops its questions from the analysis of the book Romanceiro da Inconfidência, by Cecília Meireles (1953), and from the lecture delivered by the poet in 1955, in the city of Ouro Preto. The author recurs to stylistics resources which characterize the form of a “romanceiro”, breaking with the classic paradigm of the construction of the hero by approaching the symbolic construction of Tiradentes to the popular culture, the marginalized characters and the image of transgression. In accord with our reading, the poetic discourse of Cecília Meireles would carry in itself the encounter of distinct temporalities through the confluence of the Brazilian XVIIIth century colonial past, the acquisition and transformation of the archive of the “Inconfidentes” by the Republic in the XIXth century, and the author’s writing moment in the XXth century. Among this, we work with the research of construction of identity and nationalism produced by the modernist author in the XXth century, as well as the consequent construction of memory and modern Lyric by following the path of the archives of Brazilian history. We observe that it is possible to recognize the approach of two fundamental forms of knowledge – the historical and the literary knowledge – that lay the foundation of a concept of History consonant with Walter Benjamin’s Theses on History. In order to understand the research that the poet did through the archive of Brazilian history, we made use of the “archive” as a theoretical category conceived by Jacques Derrida in Archive Fever. Thus, this work seeks to reflect on the construction of the hero as formulated by the modern artist, conceiving the world of text as an open space where layers of time and space that mark the constitution of our nationality and identity intermingle and mirror each other, and from the optics of the modern intellectual and of the discourse as a locus of power where the political and social questions are interwoven.

Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro<br>Este estudo trata da representação do herói nas histórias em quadrinhos do Japão, os mangás, e dos Estados Unidos, os comics. Esta análise se propõe a comparar a figura do samurai, focada nos títulos Samurai X e Vagabond, e do super-herói, através de Superman e Batman. Para tal, utilizam-se duas minisséries norte-americanas de cada um dos títulos escolhidos publicadas entre o final da década de 1980 e a década de 1990, mesmo período dos quadrinhos japoneses. Os títulos escolhidos ilustram questões-chaves para o entendimento da figura do herói: seu surgimento, morte e confronto com antagonistas. Considerando o vasto material relacionado aos personagens norte-americanos, criados no final da década de 1930, optou-se por trabalhar com sagas específicas ao invés da obra como um todo, o que só foi possível no caso dos mangás. Por isso, essa análise se baseará nas histórias em quadrinhos publicadas a partir do final da década de 1980, preservando assim a paridade cronológica entre comics e mangás, os quais possuem uma cronologia mais rígida se comparada aos primeiros. Quanto aos segmentos escolhidos, no lado do Superman, farão parte dessa análise os arcos Man of Steel, de 1986, com a origem do personagem e A Morte e o Retorno do Superman, de 1992. Já em Batman serão analisadas as HQs Batman: Ano Um, de 1987 e Knightfall, de 1993.<br>This study talks about the representation of the hero in Japanese comics, the manga, and North-American comics. This analysis intends to compare the samurai figure, focused on the titles Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin) and Vagabond, and the superhero figure, through Superman and Batman. Therefore, two miniseries were chosen from each American character, published between the final part of 1980s and the 1990s, same period of time that the Japanese ones. The chosen titles illustrate key-questions to the understanding of the hero figure: its origins, death and confrontation with antagonists. Considering the vast material related to the American characters, created at the end of the 1930 decade, this research chose to deal with specific sagas instead of the whole work, which was only possible in the mangas. Therefore, this analysis will be based on comic books published from the late 1980s, thus preserving the parity in time between comics and mangá, whose chronology is much stricter. The segments of chosen were, from Superman, Man of Steel, of 1986, telling the origins of the character and The Death and Return of Superman, of 1992. From Batman will be analyzed Batman: Year One, of 1987, and Knightfall, of 1993.

Habranthus Herb. (Amaryllidaceae) é caracterizado pelas brácteas da inflorescência fundidas formando um tubo e flores zigomorfas. O gênero se distribui na América do Sul, México e sudoeste dos Estados Unidos. Este trabalho teve por objetivos levantar as espécies de Habranthus (Amaryllidaceae) ocorrentes na Cadeia do Espinhaço (Minas Gerais e Bahia), bem como elucidar sua delimitação taxonômica por meio de análise morfológica. O gênero está representado na região por 8 espécies: H. bahiensis Ravenna (endêmica de Morro do Chapéu BA), H. datensis Ravenna (distribuída desde a Serra do Cipó até região de Diamantina - MG), H. cf. gracilifolius Herb. (ocorrente na região de Corinto MG), H. irwinianus Ravenna (em serras próximas a Belo Horizonte, Serra da Canastra e Ibitipoca MG), H. itaobinus Ravenna (no norte de Minas Gerais e região Nordeste), H. sylvaticus (Mart ex Schult) Herb. (na região Nordeste), H. botumirensis R. S. Oliveira & P. T. Sano (endêmico de Botumirim MG) H. lucidus R. S. Oliveira & P. T. Sano (endêmica de Rio de Contas BA). Habranthus botumirensis e H. lucidus constituem espécies novas para a ciência e foi proposta a sinonímização de H. duarteanus em H. irwinianus. O trabalho apresenta chave para as espécies, descrições, ilustrações, comentários e distribuição geográfica. São apresentadas análises na morfologia de bulbo, anatomia de folha, escapo e raiz, dados de morfologia floral, além do provimento de box-plots e análise de ordenação (PCA) com dados morfométricos. O número de ramos no bulbo, ornamentação da cutícula foliar, distribuição dos estômatos, formato das tépalas, e de seus ápices, características do paraperigônio, posição dos filetes e coloração da flor foram os principais caracteres que auxiliaram na distinção de grupos e/ou espécies. A análise com dados morfométricos colaborou na distinção das maiores espécies e auxiliou na separação das populações de H. irwinianus.<br>Habranthus Herb. (Amaryllidaceae) is characterized by inflorescence bracts fused forming a tube and zigomorphic flowers. The genus is distributed in South America, Mexico and southwest United States. The present study attempts to survey Habranthus (Amaryllidaceae) species that occur in Espinhaço Range (Minas Gerais and Bahia states), and clarify their taxonomic delimitation utilizing morphologic data. The genus is represented in the region by 8 species: H. bahiensis Ravenna (endemic in Morro do Chapéu BA), H. datensis Ravenna (distributed from Serra do Cipó to Diamantina region - MG), H. cf. gracilifolius Herb. (Corinto region MG), H. irwinianus Ravenna (mountains near to Belo Horizonte, Serra da Canastra and Ibitipoca MG), H. itaobinus Ravenna (northern Minas Gerais and Northeast of Brazil), H. sylvaticus (Mart ex Schult) Herb. (Northeast of Brazil), H. botumirensis R. S. Oliveira & P. T. Sano (endemic in Botumirim MG) H. lucidus R. S. Oliveira & P. T. Sano (endemic in Rio de Contas BA). Habranthus botumirensis and H. lucidus are new species for science and H. duarteanus is proposed as synonym in H. irwinianus. This study presents a key to the species, descriptions, illustrations, comments and geographic distribution. Analyses in bulb morphology, leaf, scape and root anatomy, floral morphology, besides box-plots and ordination (PCA) with morphometric data are presented. Number of branches in the bulb, leave cuticles sculpture, stomata distribution, tepals shape and their apices, paraperigone characteristics, filaments position and flower color were major characteristics that helped to distinct groups and/or species. Morphometric analysis helped to distinct the largest species and to separate H. irwinianus populations.
