Abstract (sommario):
This article is about how the notion of place can be used in an analysis of career guidance practices and their development. It is about how a focus on the context of career guidance can develop an awareness of the place where guidance is practiced and support the development of career guidance in new places. In this article I introduce an analytical perspective on place; I give the example of the guidance café a practice development that took place into serious consideration because it was an attempt to develop career guidance practice through relocating it.

Abstract (sommario):
Although career development theories underline the central role of information in career choice and studies show that guidance practitioners are among the main information sources of people making career choices, the actual information practices of these practitioners in their career interventions remain fragmented. Moreover, the studies on the theme of career choice associating information, information sources and information practices (whether it is among guidance practitioners or individuals in career choice) offer little conceptualization on these notions. In order to fill this gap, an online survey of 330 guidance practitioners in Quebec was conducted to document specifically their career information practices (information sources consulted and categories of career information sought). Statistical analysis show that the main career information sought relates to central elements of career choice (training programs and occupations) and the main information sources consulted are non-human and institutional. In addition, some contextual elements are associated with seeking and selecting certain categories of information and sources. The discussion highlights the importance of digital sources in the information practices of these practitioners, the association between the populations served and the choice of information sources and categories of career information and the role of co-workers as information support on career and beyond.

Abstract (sommario):
Summary Background: Evidence demonstrates that clinical decision support (CDS) is a powerful tool for improving healthcare quality and ensuring patient safety. However, implementing and maintaining effective decision support interventions presents multiple technical and organizational challenges. Purpose: To identify best practices for CDS, using the domain of preventive care reminders as an example. Methods: We assembled a panel of experts in CDS and held a series of facilitated online and in-person discussions. We analyzed the results of these discussions using a grounded theory method to elicit themes and best practices. Results: Eight best practice themes were identified as important: deliver CDS in the most appropriate ways, develop effective governance structures, consider use of incentives, be aware of workflow, keep content current, monitor and evaluate impact, maintain high quality data, and consider sharing content. Keys themes within each of these areas were also described. Conclusion: Successful implementation of CDS requires consideration of both technical and socio-technical factors. The themes identified in this study provide guidance on crucial factors that need consideration when CDS is implemented across healthcare settings. These best practice themes may be useful for developers, implementers, and users of decision support.

Abstract (sommario):
Improving outcomes for young children with high-intensity needs requires a high-quality workforce trained in equitable, intensive, individualized instructional practices and supports incorporating culturally and linguistically responsive evidence- based practices (Gunn, 2020) and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP; NAEYC, 2021) Nationally recommended practices (Division of Early Childhood [DEC], 2014) and teacher preparation standards (DEC, 2020) provide the frameworks for early childhood special education training. However, guidance on intensifying individualized instructional practices and supports is needed. The intensive intervention taxonomy (Fuchs et al., 2017) offers educators guidance on improving the effectiveness and intensity of interventions for K-12 students for whom current approaches are unsuccessful. However, more guidance is needed on intensifying instruction in early childhood (0-8 years old). To offer support to early intervention/ early childhood special education (EI/ECSE) education preparation programs, we offer an adapted version of the taxonomy that is transformed into competencies that EI/ECSE educators with expertise in supporting young children with high-intensity needs. We ground these competencies in a strengths-based (Wehmeyer, 2019), culturally responsive approach to learning and instruction (Gay, 2010). Next, we aligned these competencies with critical features of early childhood (e.g., naturalistic instruction, family partnerships, DAP). We offer these competencies and a sample program of study to ensure EI/ECSE educators are equipped with intensification competencies through their pre-service preparation to support all young children, including those with high-intensity support needs.

Abstract (sommario):
The crucial component of guidance and counselling in the framework of inclusive education, placing a strong emphasis on nurturing support and empowerment for learners. The primary goal of inclusive education is to accommodate the diverse needs of all students, irrespective of their varying abilities and backgrounds. Guidance and counseling assume a pivotal role in establishing an inclusive environment through the provision of tailored support, addressing individual challenges, and cultivating a sense of empowerment among learners. The various strategies and practices employed in guidance and counseling to ensure inclusivity, with a dedicated focus on fostering the holistic development of students. A system of education that is inclusive must prioritise participation and guidance. Effective implementation of inclusive education, ensuring fair access, participation, and success for all learners, involves offering advice and assistance to teachers, individualised student support, encouraging community and family involvement, and promoting inclusive policies

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Drinking water distribution system contamination incidents can prompt public agencies and drinking water utilities to issue do-not-drink and do-not-use advisories. After the contaminant is cleared from distribution mains, consumers are often directed to flush their plumbing. However, little validated guidance and few evaluated communications strategies are available on using flushing to decontaminate building water systems. Additionally, limited data support the effectiveness of current practices and recommendations. In this study, expert elicitation was used to assess existing flushing guidance and develop validated flushing guidance and communications for single-family residences. The resulting guidance recommends progressively opening all cold-water taps from the closest to point of entry to the furthest and allowing the water to run for at least 20 minutes. Hot-water taps should be opened progressively and run for at least 75 minutes. The guidance language and format conformed to grade-level and readability scores within recommended health communication ranges. The readability of eight other flushing guidance documents was also evaluated for contamination incidents from 2008–2015. Seven were written at a 10th–12th grade level, above the 6th–7th grade level recommended for health communications.

Abstract (sommario):
OBJECTIVES/GOALS: Many researchers aim to build trust with communities and participants. Trust building is meant to achieve greater representation across aspects of research whether in participation, or more comprehensively as partners from design to dissemination. We provide practical guidance for trust building activities and the ethical issues that can arise. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: While trust itself is inherently seen as an ethical good, often little attention is paid to the ethical aspects of trust building exercises themselves and the fact that trust can vary in type. Using a bioethical analysis of trustworthiness, we discuss how to approach trust in different relationships and settings. Explicit communication about the supports/constraints and potential outcomes of new trusted relationships is required for ethical practice. Where relationships are built without appropriate transparency and follow through, or with misunderstandings about potential shared values, priorities, or desired outcomes, significant harms can occur in the short- and long term. Using a bioethical framework and practical examples we provide guidance on how to engage in ethical trust building activities. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: While many people are good at the trust building work they do, this work is often not shared as best practices and is ascribed to individual skill. This is slowly changing and an evidence-base is being developed that can support those new to these activities. Ethical guidance to support trust building practices, especially for those new to these activities, is currently lacking. By providing both a conceptual and normative bioethical analysis grounded in practice, we provide the foundations for new activities and the necessary support for work that explores and determines best practices. This analysis provides an understanding of trust including a taxonomy and a discussion of how different types of trust can be built and can support research activities, as well as problems that can arise. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE: Trust building activities with communities and participants are crucial to much of translational science and research, but ethical guidance on how to engage in these activities well is lacking. We provide bioethical guidance and offer practical recommendations.

Abstract (sommario):
PurposeThis paper discusses efforts to produce instructional support objects for undergraduate students engaged in creating infographics, an alternative assignment growing in popularity at the authors' university.Design/methodology/approachThe authors examined scholarly, professional, trade and open-web sources to identify best practices for design and data visualization for this type of assignment. They categorized their findings and used a preponderance-of-evidence method for final selection of relevant practices. The authors detail the creation of their support products (instructional checklists and example infographics) and offer recommendations for librarians engaged in similar efforts.FindingsDespite the growing popularity of alternative assignments, guidance for best practices in data and design as they relate to student-created infographics is nascent, and best practices for design and data visualization in this context have yet to be concretely identified. Without extant guidance for student-created infographics, the authors developed a checklist of potential best practices for design and data visualization.Practical implicationsThe use of alternative projects assigned in lieu of traditional research papers is growing. Additional guidance may be required for students creating non-traditional works as standards and best practices for these projects are under-developed in the academic setting. Librarians will want to consider their role in supporting students assigned to create an alternative project.Originality/valueA consideration of best practices for data and design visualization for students designing research infographics has not yet been written.

Abstract (sommario):
Accessing high-quality career development to support successful transitions into post-compulsory education and employment can be a challenge for newly arrived students of refugee and migrant backgrounds. In Australia, not-for-profit organisations provide career guidance to students within schools that enrol refugee and migrant families. Through programs, not-for-profit organisations can provide mentoring, support and other career services. This research explores the marketing materials of organisation-provided career guidance programs based in Australian secondary schools. A close textual reading of how the programs engage with the discipline and practices of career guidance reveal a deficit framing of students and their families, with limited focus on promoting agency across programs. In light of the increasing resettlement of refugees and migrants in Australia, these findings highlight a need to balance social justice principles with greater engagement with the discipline of career education when enacting career interventions with vulnerable groups.

Abstract (sommario):
How in-home disability support workers adapt what they learn in manual handling classroom training sessions to the circumstances of their work (i.e., their clients’ homes), is central to their own safety and that of their clients. In the in-home work setting there is no “expert” for newly trained workers to closely observe or on whom to model their work practice. A particular concern, therefore, is the degree of transfer or adaptability from classroom training sessions that may assist these workers to enact safe practices, as their musculoskeletal injuries continue to occur at unacceptably high rates. Consequently, understanding how best to support these workers initially learn their occupational practice may offer considerable procedural benefits across the entire arena of working well and safely. Contemporary accounts of learning emphasise the importance of immediate social partners such as teachers and co-workers. Yet, much of our learning for work occurs without such experts. So, we need better understandings of how individuals learn from different educational experiences and adapt what they learn to their practice, and also how this learning occurs in the absence of expert guidance. A case study approach, comprising two separate practical studies, was adopted for this inquiry, which aimed to explore the personal, situational and instructional bases for realising effective learning in the absence of expert guidance. Study A comprised an exploratory investigation in which a community service organisation’s existing manual handling training situation was appraised by way of semi-structured interviews and direct observation of support workers, and a trajectory for learning in situations of relative social isolation was proposed. Study B comprised an intervention, where the proposed trajectory was implemented for a group of new support workers learning manual handling. The effectiveness of this program was appraised, again through semi-structured interviews and direct observation. A reconciliation of both studies led to conclusions about the best ways that learning in relative social isolation may progress.

Abstract (sommario):
Professional coaching is a set of practices that in principle do not really reveal the attitude of the practitioner. The intervention he implements is about business evaluation and that is why he is called mentor-assessor. Therefore, such a scheme depends either on the idea of controlling businesses as a counselor or guiding them as a professional guide. The work of problematization here is to question the relationship maintained by the mentor-assessor with his place of practice. It is part of a theoretical framework putting together evaluation concepts, support and place. In this sense, the use of quantitative and qualitative methods of social representations allows to question the representation of the mentor-assessor on his work and his place of practice as well as the relationship he has with the workplace. From a sample of fifty coaches, the results show a majority of practitioners in the position of guidance and personal development. The report also points out that the mentor-assessor has with the workplace, meaningful preferential assessment criteria of the practitioner. The results are modeled from a kaleidoscope attitude situation which are: the solution-oriented guide, the birth coach facilitator, the practitioner in personal development and the clinician coach

Abstract (sommario):
Due to the population aging phenomenon, the working-age population will decline in the future while the seniors’ quality of life can decline. A lot of research has been done and many of researchers figure out modern ICT and mobile technology needs to shoulder more responsibility in elderly care. The benefit of science and technology should be brought to senior citizens’ life. Moreover, the smartphone ownership rate has been increasing in recent years, espe- cially the percentage of Android phone ownership. Because elders will take smart- phone everywhere, installing an application in senior citizen’s Android phone is a good way to track their movements. The caregivers could give guidance remotely to elders based on their location and surrounding environment scene by using mobile technology of this kind. The multi user support for senior citizen visual guidance system consists of five components: Android phone, Pupil headset, Indicator-based Glasses, OldBirds and web server part. The system uses the Pupil headset to capture senior citizen’s font view and transfer it to OldBirds part which is controlled by caregivers. Furthermore, the Indicator-based glasses are used to show the guidance orders given by remotely caregivers. The web server part is transfer station between Android phone and OldBirds part. Google Cloud Messaging service has already been integrated into this system so that caregivers can directly give guidance orders to senior citizens about when and where to go. For future work I suggest, from the hardware perspective, to connect Pupil headset’s world camera and eye camera together by a USB hub. Furthermore, I recommend to combine Pupil headset and Indicator-based glasses together to remove the need for Bluetooth connection.

Abstract (sommario):

This study intends to determine to what extent, if at all, the practices used in one urban school district in Southern California servicing high populations of socioeconomically disadvantaged students have on the academic achievement of students who are considered homeless under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. A quantitative analysis of the academic performance of homeless students in both English Language Arts and Mathematics on the California Standards Test was used. In addition, a survey was used to capture the perceptions of existing practices in schools. Interviews were conducted to gain the perceptions of site principals and district administrators to learn what they believe are the existing practices contributing to the academic performance of their homeless student population.

The following areas provided background and understanding of the academic needs of homeless students: (a) history of federal legislation (b) federal and state funding and national effort to end the cycle of homelessness (c) accountability for academic achievement (d) successful academic practices as well as the best practices to support the social-emotional needs of homeless students, and, (e) the perceptions of educators and administrators who work with students in homeless situations. Based on the research, the important factors to consider are the needed socialization and relationship-building component that provides homeless students with stability and a connection with the school as well as the teacher and staff awareness and sensitivity needed when working with homeless students.

The results demonstrated three significant areas to consider when educating homeless students; having an awareness of homeless students, accountability and monitoring of homeless students, and the social-emotional organizational practices in place to support these learners.

Recommendations included district level professional development focused on the special needs of homeless students as well as providing school principals with academic data on their homeless student population. Secondly, identifying homeless students in a web based data system for teacher review. Thirdly, site based professional development for both certificated and classified staff to provide strategies in working with student who face homelessness. Finally, to develop a district wide counseling partnership with outside consultants or city resources to allow for more on-site counseling services.

Abstract (sommario):
Navigation and orientation assistive devices availability has been increasing over the years due to the "mobile revolution", propelled by the generalized accessibility to smartphone integrated GPS systems and other similar technologies that provide location information, targeting di erent usage scenarios such as car driving or pedestrian navigation. Nevertheless, the way these consumer devices interface with the users are not appropriate for visually impaired individuals nor to critical situations where users cannot rely on vision for navigation (e.g. rst responders involved in rescue procedures in dense smoke presence or other reduced visibility conditions). Over the past years, audio guidance systems have been pointed in the literature as a possible solution to this problem. In this thesis we address this topic by developing a system - AudioNavigator - that provides navigation via audio signatures. AudioNavigator is an Android mobile application that is able to convert monaural audio signals into spatial audio signals that are perceived by the user as coming from a certain direction, thus guiding him towards the target destination. The main objective of AudioNavigator is to guide an individual equipped with a GPS-enabled mobile device to a given destination through solely audio cues. The system was developed based on a "head-related transfer function" (HRTF) model that modulates time and intensity of audio pitch cues to generate 3D direction perceptions to users wearing a set of headphones. AudioNavigator was tested for angle perception with 10 volunteers that were able to select the correct angle based on the audio cues in 63% of the times within a 30 degrees margin. Furthermore, the system was tested in two open eld trials where two paths, composed of 12 and 25 waypoints, were tested by 5 users, solely relying on the audio guidance provided by the system. The 5 users completed all 10 paths with success. These results demonstrate the current potential of mobile devices to be used in non-visual navigation scenarios. AudioNavigator provides a proof of concept for the usage of audio navigation systems in such scenarios.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractSocial support by our social network proves to be important for our health. The opposite of good social support is loneliness. First and foremost, it seems that social support includes emotional support, belonging in a social community, being valued, practical help, and information and guidance. Social support represents a vital salutogenic resource for individuals’ mental health. This chapter explains the concept of social support in relation with other concepts of specific relevance, such as coping and quality of life. In a health-promoting perspective, this chapter presents the concept of social support and its theoretical basis. A brief description of questionnaires assessing social support is provided, as well as a brief summary of evidence demonstrating the salutogenic potential of social support, both as a preventive and a health-promoting resource.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractThis chapter outlines a stepwise approach to implementing behaviour change strategies in chronic disease. In the first part of this chapter, examples of determinants of target behaviours discussed in Chapter 3 are listed, based on case studies developed in the Train4Health project and in the literature. This includes barriers or opportunities (facilitators) for diet, physical activity, smoking cessation and medication adherence. Next, a brief description of approaches to assess key determinants is presented. The second part of this chapter begins with an overview of the classification of behaviour change techniques. Then, we offer guidance for the development of an intervention plan, covering how behaviour change techniques can be implemented in practice, considering potential barriers to the target behaviour, the length of the intervention and the modes through which they can be delivered.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractThis paper explores the specificities of doctoral studies, focusing on students’ well-being. It is part of an ongoing research project analysing doctoral studies in Romania, focusing on three main themes: access, participation and completion. The multiple facets of the doctoral studies within the Bologna Process—seen at a crossroad between EHEA and ERA, and as a cornerstone of the ‘knowledge-based society’—reflect onto the various roles assigned to doctoral candidates: students, emerging researchers, teaching and research assistants. While the doctoral cycle tends to prioritise the development of research and academic skills, it appears to be lacking appropriate support mechanisms for students. In order to better understand these mechanisms, the paper is structured on three levels: current context, practices and the students’ perspective. This latter level explores internal and external factors of success—among others: motivation, personal/professional development, academic identity, doctoral supervision, research guidance, financial support, career counselling, and societal role. To do so, the paper draws upon a mixed methodology, using data collected from workshops with relevant stakeholders and a questionnaire addressed to Ph.D. students. By superimposing these layers, our paper aims to provide an overview of the current state of doctoral studies in Romania, with a focus on the well-being of doctoral students. Finally, it attempts to shape several proposals for improving both the practices and the policy framework of doctoral studies in Romania while taking into account the future of higher education and research in Europe, as well as European good-practice examples.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractIn this chapter, positive education is reframed using advances in understanding through trauma-informed perspectives for schools educating students impacted by trauma and systemic educational disadvantage. In order to de-silo trauma-informed teaching and positive education, trauma-aware perspectives are first introduced, including priorities for intervention arising from a systematic review of trauma-aware teacher practice models. Next, positive education is repositioned as a developmental step for teacher practice to fortify wellbeing strategies within the classroom. Then, recommendations are provided, giving guidance for how teachers can begin this practice within their own schools. The chapter concludes with recommendations to support teacher wellbeing in the face of secondary traumatic stress, vicarious effects of childhood trauma, and workplace burnout.

Abstract (sommario):
When faced with an opportunity to install a branch connection using the “hot tapping” technique, pipeline operating companies have a wide variety of choices when it comes to branch connection design and installation practices (e.g., welding procedure options) depending on the application. The objective of a recently-completed joint industry project (JIP) was to develop industry best practices for hot tap branch connections, including a compendium of properly qualified procedures, guidance pertaining to specification of branch connection design for specific applications, and guidance pertaining to related areas of concern for which there was not widespread agreement. The core group of welding procedures that was developed and qualified for branch groove welds and sleeve fillet welds all involve the use of shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and conventional low-hydrogen electrodes. There are applications for which other welding processes and consumables have advantages, so procedures for a broader range of applications were also developed and qualified. All of the procedures were qualified in accordance with the requirements of a range of relevant industry codes, including the Twenty-first Edition of API Standard 1104. The various options for branch connection design include integrally-reinforced fittings (e.g., Weldolets®), fabricated branch connections, and full-encirclement pressurized tees (e.g., Stopple® fittings). Some designs are better suited to some applications than to others. The guidance for specifying branch connection designs focused on geometric parameters, such as branch diameter, header diameter, and branch-to-header diameter ratio. Several antiquated branch connection designs that should no longer be used were also identified. The related areas of concern for which guidance was developed included the need for sleeve end fillet welds, burnthrough prediction for in-service welding on thin-wall pipelines, pressure limits/pressure reduction requirements, flow rate limits, heat-affected zone (HAZ) hardness limits, welder qualification requirements, branch connection location and fit-up, pipeline support requirements, branch connection welding sequence, preheating for in-service welds, fillet weld size requirements, extent of welding required for integrally-reinforced fittings, inspection/non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements, delay time prior to inspection for hydrogen cracking, pressure testing prior to tapping, and grouting of larger diameter, larger diameter-ratio branch connections. This guidance, along with the branch connection design guidance, was used to develop a generic company specification for installing hot tap branch connections in the field. The use of this guidance and the compendium of properly qualified welding procedures that was developed during the JIP will reduce the cost of installing hot tap branch connections, increase safety during installation, and increase the reliability of completed connections.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract In-service inspection is a critical element in confirming the integrity of permanent floating production unit mooring systems. Over the unit's operating life, which will typically span 20 years or more, these inspections provide the majority of the condition information on the mooring components and overall system. This information enables operators to proactively address mooring issues caused by degradation mechanisms or deviations in mooring line tensions that could reduce the system capacity and potentially result in premature failure. However, detailed guidance on inspection intervals, and in particular inspection scope, is limited for permanent mooring systems. To address this identified industry need, the DeepStar® technology consortium initiated Project 19403, "Improving Mooring Integrity through Standardized Inspection and Fit-For-Service Assessment" to develop best inspection practice guidance for permanent mooring systems [1]. This paper describes the content and benefits of this new mooring inspection guidance document developed as part of the DeepStar® 19403 project [1] with the support of subject matter experts from major operator companies, Class societies and mooring consultancies. The paper will describe how this new guidance compliments and expands current industry Recommended Practice (RP) guidance. Key aspects related to in-service survey intervals, component inspection work scopes and inspection methods will be discussed as well as the execution planning of in-service mooring inspections. To facilitate inspection work, the predominate deterioration mechanisms are introduced which are corrosion, wear and fatigue. Other types of deteriorations are also summarized. Default in-service survey intervals (frequencies) and component inspections are recommended. In-service inspection methods are reviewed, from General Visual Inspection (GVI) and Close Visual Inspection (CVI) to advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). Guidance on assessing the residual capacity of a damaged or flawed mooring component, known as fitness-for-service, is also covered within the new mooring inspection guidance.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper work has as a practical background the experience accumulated as tutors and mangers of the CREDIS - The Distance Learning Department of Bucharest University. Its aim is to present some best practices from this institution. The correlation and interaction between teaching-learning-assessment lead to a study, which submit to present the importance of the tutoring and psycho-pedagogical support to personal and professional developing of the students enrolled in long distance learning. The training activities, the teachers constant concern to provoke students interest, reasons and desires and the tutors role to touch up the students mental abilities and not only are important aspects concerning the department activity: Distance learning system is an educational program which provides specific resources having clearly designed characteristics; It is a programme in which neither students and academic staff, nor students and their peers do not have to stay together in order to develop an educational process. Communication among students and between students and tutors takes place through dual band communication channels, in virtual environment; The application of the theory to practice and challenge the change of what exist in what should exist, are the undertakings by the tutors in long distance learning, it cancers, the students engagement in new experiences of learning. Throughout this process students need to have psychological support, stimulation, and guidance, improvement-developing of the educational process, research and innovation. The main research question refers to the importance of theoretical support and the balance between theory and best practices. Consequently the methodological approach refers to literature in the domain, empirical research as well as the design of the ideal profile of a group manager. The analysis is supported by a brief overview of CREDIS experience as examples for best practices. By this study case we will disclose also the transition from education to self-education, from training to self-training, with the tutor being all this time the assistance for developing.

Abstract (sommario):
The paper presents a pedagogical experiment of valorising in the virtual space the video registrations made during teaching practice, of analysis and reflection of the students participating in the study on filmed teaching experiences. A number of 24 students in the IIIrd year at the Faculty of Psychology, Pitesti University, and 3 teaching practice tutors participated in the study. The video registration material which constituted the support for analysis, discussion and reflection in the course named Virtual guidance of teaching practice - VGTP (existent on the Moodle platform) includes: specialty lessons /activities/ demonstrative didactical sequences considered good practices, taught by mentor teachers; lessons/activities/didactic sequences taught by students teaching individually /in a team, homeroom classes/sequences of certain activities performed with parents, school counselling activities/educational activities/learning sequences performed outside school. The qualitative methodology associated to the analysis of video registrations causes the professional contextual, relevant, active and reflexive learning and training, based on the integration of personal experiences as learning sources. The purpose and objectives of the article circumscribe to the following finalities: the analysis of the video registrations of the lessons taught by students allows the students participating in the virtual guidance of teaching practice to identify the positive elements of teaching a lesson/teaching practice activity, the desirable behaviours at stake during the didactical activity, but also the potential difficulties, lacks and lacunae registered by it in the concrete didactical situation of the classroom activity. Students look at each other like in a mirror and learn one from the other. The tutor's role in the virtual guidance of teaching practice consists in generating reflection based on the video registrations made available to students for watching, in orienting students' attention to the relevant aspects of the learning situations gone through by well addressed questions. The questions formulated by the tutor shall orient students' thinking and determine the re-watching of the respective video sequences in order to catch the details that may not be noticed and to find out the answers to questions. The conclusions of the article highlight the advantages and limits of the virtual valorisation of the lessons/activities presented by students and registered on video means, highlight users' access to a common video base from which they can learn and which invites to individual/group reflection, but which generates a certain emotional detachment of both the tutor and of the student by the fact that the watched activities are not live, the analysis time does not occur immediately after the registration and especially there is the risk of the excessive focus of the tutor on the technical aspects of teaching.

Abstract (sommario):
Introduction: In 2018, the Australian Centre for Cannabinoid Clinical and Research Excellence (ACRE), a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Centre of Research Excellence was funded to develop a suite of state-wide medicinal cannabis prescribing guidance documents. At this time, regulatory changes in Australia were enabling broader access to medicinal cannabis in a medical model. The initiative funded through the New South Wales (NSW) Government’s Clinical Cannabis Medicines Program enabled the development of practical resources to support NSW medical practitioners in prescribing medicinal cannabis to patients for conditions where cannabinoids are perceived to have some benefit. Aim: To provide interim guidance to support medical practitioners in the prescription of medicinal cannabis where they are perceived to have potential benefit. Methods: A team of clinical pharmacologists, pharmacists and clinicians collaborated in the development of the first tranche of prescribing guidance documents. The suite of six medicinal cannabis prescribing guidance documents covered the most common indications for which prescriptions for medicinal cannabis were being sought by NSW patients: dementia; anorexia and cachexia; nausea; chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting; spasticity; and chronic non-cancer pain. In 2019, the draft guidance documents underwent a comprehensive review and consultation process involving fifty key stakeholders before publication. Results: The ACRE medicinal cannabis prescribing guidance documents have been widely adopted, both in NSW and around the world. The prescribing guidance documents are now recommended as a health professional educational resource by the Australian national medicines regulator the Therapeutic Goods Administration and state health departments. The prescribing guidance on epilepsy from the second tranche of guidance documents has recently been published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology. National medicinal cannabis prescribing pattern data and enquiries to the first-of-kind, state-government funded medicinal cannabis advisory service for medical practitioners informed the themes of the second tranche of six medicinal cannabis prescribing guidance documents being developed in 2022. Conclusions: ACRE medicinal cannabis prescribing guidance documents delivered interim guidance to Australian medical practitioners on the evidence-based and best-practice prescription of medicinal cannabis. Prescribing guidance document themes align with Australian medicinal cannabis prescribing patterns and areas where medical practitioners are seeking further information and advice. It is anticipated that the prescribing guidance documents will be updated periodically as further evidence becomes available. Acknowledgements: NSW Government through the NSW Clinical Cannabis Medicines Program supported development of the NSW Cannabis Medicines Prescribing Guidance. ACRE was established and is funded through the National Health and Medical Research Council Centres of Research Excellence scheme.

Abstract (sommario):
First run success is a key performance measure used in the BP Global In Line Inspection (ILI) Contract [1]. This drives effectiveness and efficiency in the processes supporting ILI and it is a key commercial performance indicator for ILI Suppliers. Although run success rates are often referred to across the industry there has been little standardisation in the terminology, or the factors that lead to a successful run. Three definitions have been established for run success: Technical; Commercial and Operational. Each has a place although it is Operational run success that drives improvements between operators and suppliers. The introduction of a performance measure for first run success increases the focus on getting things right the first time. The financial cost of ILI run failure has probably been underestimated by the industry; although it is estimated that it could be as high as 30% of total contracted costs for ILI. For some projects the costs associated with a failed run can be far greater than the original project costs (e.g. additional vessel support costs for deployment or recovery during offshore operations). A failed run can also result in a delayed inspection and an associated increased risk as well as potentially compromising compliance with regulatory requirements. The consequences of run failure vary in severity and can be presented in a pyramid similar to the typical representation of safety statistics. A stuck tool requiring intervention or a pipeline failure, as a result of an incorrect inspection report, would be at the top of the pyramid. The lower tiers would capture technical failures and the effectiveness of cleaning. Understanding the consequence of failures can help drive performance improvements across the industry. As part of the BP continuous improvement process, ILI Suppliers and internal stakeholders were brought together for a facilitated workshop to understand the factors affecting first run success rates. The workshop identified a number of common themes which were consistent across all of the Suppliers addressing; both operational issues and tool performance. A Guidance Note was then developed with the ILI Suppliers to drive improvements in first run success rates. This was shared with the Pipeline Operators Forum (POF) in October 2011 and has been further developed as a POF Guidance Document. A separate guidance note has been developed to address recommended practices for collecting and verifying field data. Successful ILI requires good communication between all parties. As the industry starts to inspect more difficult and challenging lines it will be important to improve ILI run success rates. Across the industry we probably know how to do it, but doing it consistently is the challenge. The development of industry Guidance Notes represent a small step towards achieving this objective. As ILI operations improve the focus will increasingly turn to the reliability of tools. There is much that can be learnt from other industry sectors, such as the motor or aviation industry, on improving reliability of components and systems. This will require an increased use of preventative maintenance practices. There is also a need to create a common basis for reporting reliability of inspection tools and for this to be taken into account when operators make their selection of ILI tools. The Global ILI Contract has brought an increased focus to the performance of the overall inspection process which is driving improvements in first run success rates. It has facilitated the development of guidelines on best practice and is starting to set standards for reliability. The high level of cooperation between suppliers and operators to drive improvements in this area is a measure of the importance of first run success rates to all parts of our industry. Achieving ILI first run success requires both the operator and ILI supplier to work together. Whilst each has a key part to play effective communication from an early stage is essential.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Human and Organizational Factors (HOF) as a discipline applies tools, theory, principles, data and methods to optimize human, organizational, and overall system performance. To date, there has been relatively little guidance available to pipeline operating companies regarding the integration of HOF within and across organizational management systems, pipeline protection programs, and operational activities. CSA Group Express Document EXP16 (EXP16) entitled Human and organizational factors for optimal pipeline performance is intended to address this deficiency. It builds upon a previously published express document, which was more limited in scope: CSA EXP248 Pipeline Human Factors. EXP16 is intended to offer practical guidance regarding the management of Performance Influencing Factors (PIFs) and provide greater content dedicated to organizational factors such as leadership, governance, management system effectiveness, and safety culture. EXP16 has been prepared and reviewed by the CSA Group’s Development Committee on Human and Organizational Factors for Optimal Pipeline Performance. The committee was comprised of representatives from pipeline companies, consulting firms, regulatory agencies, investigative bodies, and HOF subject matter experts from various technical fields (e.g., nuclear). The goal of the document was to marry the introduction of key concepts with practical guidance and best practices that a pipeline company may apply to support enhanced performance, including the prevention of harm to people, property, and the environment caused by a major hazard accident (e.g., unintended product release, spill, explosion, fire). This paper will review the content and application of EXP16. It will discuss seven key HOF principles and introduce several relevant PIFs associated with People, Organization, and Task, Technology, and Workplace. The impact and management of PIFs throughout the pipeline life cycle will be explored. This paper will also present the key concept of “the learning organization” and how this outcome may be facilitated through both the proactive and reactive application of HOFs.

Abstract (sommario):
While the individual support for learning and career development before 1989 was scarce and the need for it was little acknoledged by the students, currently the guidance and counselling support become an important part of educational institutions. The growth of the guidance and counselling system were exponentially in the last two decades and the community of guidance practitioners developed an own ethos and practice. Naturally, a focus point of the current debate deals with the integration of the new web 2.0 tools in the guidance and counselling activity. The present article explores how Romanian guidance counsellors from pre-university and higher education level are using web.2.0. technologies in their activity. It further develops the analysis of a previous article based on a national sample survey published in the ELSE conference in 2014, this time further exploring the issues of employing social technologies in career guidance and portraying the distribution of the investigated variables. The aim is to inform and provide empirical evidence for designing the training programmes and the professional development activities of the guidance counsellors aiming to developing their ICT skills. The benefits of the Web 2.0 technologies and the ways the guidance counsellors organize their social web based activities are listed and the survey results are explored by analyzing possible causes and implications: frequency of use; effective web 2.0 tools for guidance and counselling, barriers in using the web 2.0 tools; level of pupil engagement in the online collaborative guidance activities. Further opportunities for professional exchange of experiences and exploration of effective use of web 2.0 tools for guidance are proposed as well as indication of training needs for specific groups.

Abstract (sommario):
Although career guidance in the Czech Republic is officially perceived as a priority of the education system, guidance support is not provided equally at all types of schools and on all levels of the education system. For example, we register insufficient support for students at secondary vocational schools. As previous research by the authors of the article has shown, it seems that once a young person decides to pursue a career, the effort of the school system to pay further attention to career guidance will also decrease. This paper is aimed to suggest a new program for career education, counselling and training, afterwards to pilot it at three secondary vocational schools, and with the help of action research to collect and to evaluate experience from the school practice. The empirical part of this article consists of three research phases. First, a baseline analysis was performed using mixed data resources (questionnaire survey among students, interviews with school counsellors and document analysis). In the second phase, a new career guidance program was proposed. Finally, the program was tested at three vocational schools in the years 2019 and 2020. Using action research design, the researchers gathered evidence and identified the benefits of new counselling activities. Based on these results, proposals for further improvement and implementation of career guidance and education at secondary vocational schools were submitted.

Abstract (sommario):
In-water beneficial use of dredged sediment provides the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) the opportunity to increase beneficial use while controlling costs. Beneficial use projects in riverine environments include bank and near-bank placement, where sediments can protect against bank erosion and support habitat diversity. While bank and near-bank placement of navigation dredged sediment to support river-bank stabilization and habitat is currently practiced, documented examples are sparse. Documenting successful projects can support advancing the practice across USACE. In addition, documentation identifies data gaps required to develop engineering and ecosystem restoration guidance using navigation-dredged sediment. This report documents five USACE and international case studies that successfully applied these practices: Ephemeral Island Creation on the Upper Mississippi River; Gravel Island Creation on the Danube River; Gravel Bar Creation on the Tombigbee River; Wetland Habitat Restoration on the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta; and Island and Wetland Creation on the Lower Columbia River Estuary. Increased bank and near-bank placement can have multiple benefits, including reduced dredge volumes that would otherwise increase as banks erode, improved sustainable dredged sediment management strategies, expanded ecosystem restoration opportunities, and improved flood risk management. Data collected from site monitoring can be applied to support development of USACE engineering and ecosystem restoration guidance.

Abstract (sommario):
The off-highway sector encompasses a broad range of industries including mining, quarrying, agriculture, construction, and ports and airports. Automated vehicle technology has become commonplace within some of these industries, bringing with it many benefits for safety, efficiency and productivit. But it is important to keep in mind that the transition to new working practices should be carefully managed to ensure that unintended safety consequences do not cancel out the potential benefits. This draft code of practice seeks to provide top level guidance to organisations, in all sectors of the off-highway industry, on the ways in which working practices should be adapted to ensure that the adoption of automation is as smooth and safe as possible. The code is applicable to the broad range of environments in which off-highway vehicles are used and the different demands and risks of using automation in those settings. The aim is that this code will support safe practice, build public confidence and support the cooperation between organisations across all industries employing off-highway automated vehicles. TRL would like to thank all of the organisations and individuals who gave time to support development of this draft, their help has been invaluable.

Abstract (sommario):
What is participatory systems mapping? Participatory systems mapping engages stakeholders with varied knowledge and perspectives in creating a visual representation of a complex system. Its purpose is to explore, and document perceived causal relations between elements in the system. This guidance focuses on six causal systems mapping methods: systems-based theory of change maps; causal loop diagrams; CECAN participatory systems mapping; fuzzy cognitive maps; systems dynamics models; and Bayesian belief networks. What is the purpose of this guidance? This guidance includes a Framework that aids the choice and design of participatory systems mapping approaches for population health research, policy and practice. It offers insights on different systems mapping approaches, by comparing them and highlighting their applications in the population health domain. This guidance also includes case studies, signposting to further reading and resources, and recommendations on enhancing stakeholder involvement in systems mapping. Who is this guidance for? This guidance is designed for anyone interested in using participatory systems mapping, regardless of prior knowledge or experience. It primarily responds to calls to support the growing demand for systems mapping (and systems-informed approaches more broadly) in population health research, policy and practice. This guidance can however also be applied to other disciplines. How was it developed? The guidance was created by an interdisciplinary research team through an iterative, rigorous fivestage process that included a scoping review, key informant interviews, and a consultation exercise with subject experts. What is the ‘Participatory Systems Design Framework’ included in this guidance? The Design Framework supports users to choose between different methods and enhance the design of participatory systems mapping projects. Specifically, it encourages users to consider: 1) the added value of adopting a participatory approach to systems mapping; 2) the differences between methods, including their relative advantages and disadvantages; and 3) the feasibility of using particular methods for a given purpose. An editable version of the Framework is available to download as a supplementary file. How will this guidance support future use of these methods? Participatory systems mapping is an exciting and evolving field. This guidance clarifies and defines the use of these methods in population health research, policy and practice, to encourage more thoughtful and purposeful project design, implementation, and reporting. The guidance also identifies several aspects for future research and development: methodological advancements; advocating for and strengthening participatory approaches; strengthening reporting; understanding and demonstrating the use of maps; and developing skills for the design and use of these methods.

Abstract (sommario):
Managing value chain environmental impacts and natural resource use has become an important consideration in the purchasing decisions of large publicly traded companies. Suppliers, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region, can increase their competiveness by using best practices in natural resource management and reducing their environmental impacts. In order to assess how value chain environmental management can improve MSME competitiveness, this study identifies best practices among companies in key economic sectors in LAC with the largest value chain environmental inputs (e.g. water use, commodities) and outputs (e.g. greenhouse gas emissions, waste). Tools and incentive mechanisms that support adoption of best practices were identified and assessed for usefulness. This study provides valuable guidance to various actors along the value chains of multinational companies that operate in LAC, including suppliers (MSMEs), financial institutions, and other entities (international development organizations, industry associations, research organizations, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs)) interested in fostering the development of greener value chains. The identification of key sectors, considering both economic and environmental impact significance, provides interested entities with a ranked list of sectors to work with. The identification of key environmental inputs and outputs is a valuable reference point for prioritizing key issues for LAC companies in each sector. Finally, this study's review of value chain environmental management best practices, tools, and incentive mechanisms supports knowledge sharing, development of greener value chains, improved environmental management of MSMEs, and key areas for supporting investment.

Abstract (sommario):
3Association of Anaesthetists | Better musculoskeletal health for anaesthetistsSummaryWork-related musculoskeletal disorders are very common amongst healthcare workers, and there is evidence that anaesthetists are at greater risk of upper limb disorders than other groups. This guidance aims to bring together advice and recommendations from a variety of sources in order to inform and support anaesthetists at work, in an attempt to reduce the prevalence and severity of work-related musculoskeletal disorders and the exacerbation of pre-existing disorders. Mechanical and psychosocial risk factors for work-associated musculoskeletal disorders are summarised, along with general principles for achieving better musculoskeletal health and practices specific to areas of the body most at risk. These include recommended exercises and stretches during sedentary work.RecommendationsAttention must be paid by both employers and anaesthetists to the physical and psychological risk factors that may lead to development and/or exacerbation of musculoskeletal disorders. This requires ongoing risk assessments and adherence to published standards of health and safety at work, including training. Such a programme is best achieved as part of a multidisciplinary approach. What other guidelines are available on this topic? There are many sources of guidance on health and safety in the workplace, across many sectors, much of which is of relevance to anaesthetists. There is no readily accessible guidance specifically aimed at the anaesthetic workplace. Why was this guideline developed? This guidance was developed as part of a wider piece of work by the Association of Anaesthetists based around ergonomics of the anaesthetic workplace, as a result of the increased reported incidence of musculoskeletal disorders amongst anaesthetists. It aims to draw on existing guidance and present a summary of advice relevant to anaesthetists and their practice. How and why does this publication differ from existing guidelines? This guidance summarises other advice and recommendations, and focuses on factors relevant to the anaesthetic workplace
