Testo completoA countable first-Order structure is called homogneous when each isomorphism between twofinitely generated substructures extends to an automorphism of the whole structure. This is equivalentto an amalgamation property of finitely generated substructures, and countable homogeneousstructures are also called Fraïssé limits, in connection to the work of Roland Fraïssé on theorder of rational numbers. The present thesis concerns automorphism groups of homogeneousstructures, with the following central question: is it the case that the automorphism group of a homogeneousstructure is universal for the class of automorphism groups of its substructures? Weanswer positively this question for homogeneous structures in a relational langage and with thefree amalgamation property, by using a construction rather similar to a construction of Katetov andUspenskij in the case of the Urysohn space. With similar techniques, we obtain any countable substructureas the set of fixed points of an automorphism of a given finite order. Besides, this allowsus to study the complexity of the isomorphism relation between countable substructures, and toshow that it Borel reduces to the conjugacy relation in the automorphism group. We continue withelements of finite order, assuming further that finite substructures satisfy a strong version of theHrushovski-Lascar-Herwig extension property, and topological arguments then allow us to showthat in the automorphism group any element is the product of four conjugates of certain elementsof finite order. We also show similar results for the isometry group of the Urysohn space, or itsbounded version, the Urysohn sphere, by using the fact that they are well approximated by rationalmetric spaces. Finally, concerning the question of the universality of the automorphism groupof a Fraïssé limit, we consider the finer question to know whether any countable substructure embedsin a rigid way, that is, in such a way that each of its automorphisms extends in a uniqueautomorphism of the Fraïssé limit. First, we introduce a construction of such rigid embeddings inthe case of homogeneous graphs. Then, we modify this construction in various classes of orientedgraphs and of homogeneous relational structures, ultimately to make it work in a very generalcontext of structures in a finite relational langage and with the free amalgamation property

Testo completoThis thesis presents two results concerning homogeneous spaces of algebraic groups. In the first part, we consider the following question, recently asked by Burt Totaro:Let k be a field, G a linear algebraic k-group, and X a quasi-projective variety, endowed with the structure of a homogeneous space of G. Assume there exists a zero-cycle of degree d>0 on X; that is to say, there exists a family of closed points of X, having the property that the gcd of thedegrees (over k) of their residue fields divides d. Can we say that X has a rational point in a separable field extension of k, of degree dividing d ?We show that, in general, the answer is negative. In particular, we produce a counter-example X when k is a number field. The space X is geometrically rational, and a smooth k-compactification of X cannot have a k-rational point. This suggests to considerthe following general question: let X be a homogeneous space of an algebraic group (over a field k), such that X admits a k-compactification having a k-rational point. Then, does X itself possess a rational point ? In the second part of this thesis, we show the answer is positive,in full generality. Roughly speaking, we use cohomological tools to reduce the problem to the case of torsors under semi-simple groups, which is settled by the theory of Bruhat and Tits

Testo completoThis thesis brings to an end the classification of parabolic subgroup schemes of semisimple groups over an algebraically closed field, focusing on characteristic two and three. First, we present the classification under the assumption that the reduced part of these subgroups is maximal; then we proceed to the general case. We arrive at an almost uniform description: with the exception of a group of type G₂ in characteristic two, any parabolic subgroup scheme is obtained by multiplying reduced parabolic subgroups by kernels of purely inseparable isogenies, then taking the intersection. In conclusion, we discuss some geometric implications of this classification

Testo completoThis thesis studies the unramified Brauer group of homogeneous spaces with non connected stabilizer and its arithmetic applcations. In particular, we develop different formulas of algebraic and/or arithmetic nature allowing an explicit calculation, both over a finite field and over a field of characteristic 0, of the algebraic part of the unramified Brauer group of a homogeneous space G\G' under a semisimple simply connected linear group G' with finite stabilizer G. We also give examples of the calculations that can be done with these formulas. For achieving this goal, we prove beforehand (using a theorem of Gabber on alterations) a result describing the prime-to-p torsion part of the unramified Brauer group of a smooth and geometrically integral variety V over a global field of characteristic p or over a finite field by evaluating the elements of Br(V) at its local points. The formulas for finite stabilizers are later generalised to the case where the stabilizer G is any linear algebraic group using a reduction of the Galois cohomology of the group G to that of a certain finite subquotient. Finally, for a global field K and a finite solvable K-group G, we show under certain hypotheses concerning the extension splitting G that the homogeneous space V:=G\G' with G' a semi-simple simply connected K-group has the weak approximation property (the hypotheses ensuring the triviality of the unramified algebraic Brauer group). We use then a more precise version of this result to prove the Hasse principle forhomogeneous spaces X under a semi-simple simply connected K-group G' with finite solvable geometric stabilizer, under certain hypotheses concerning the K-kernel (or K-lien) defined by X

Testo completoLet G be a semisimple Lie group (of higher rank) and Γ a Zariski dense subgroup of G (of infinite covolume). In this thesis, we discuss two questions related to the Benoist limit cone of Γ : one concerns random walks, the other topological mixing of the directional Weyl chamber flow. In the introduction, we state the main results of this thesis in their context. In the second chapter, we recall some general facts about Lie groups and loxodromic elements. In the third chapter, we prove that every point of the interior of the limit cone is a Lyapunov vector. In the fourth chapter, we construct local coordinates of G and give key tools for the remaining parts. In the fifth chapter, we introduce the invariant subsets of G. In the last chapter of this thesis, we prove the topological mixing criterion of regular directional Weyl chamber flow obtained with O. Glorieux and we generalize this criterion to Γ\G for a class of Lie groups including SL(n, R), SL(n, C), SO(p, p + 2)

centrale.

Testo completoChoose an algebraic group G, and an algebraic subgroup H. Choose a Borel probability measure μ on G. Consider the Markov chain on the G-space X = G/H with transition probability Px = μ * δx for x ε X.The point of this dissertation is the study of the recurrence properties of such a random walk.We consider two types of recurrence : almost-certain recurrence (i.e. almost-every trajectory enters some compact set infinitely often) and the associated almost-certain transience (where almost-every trajectory eventually leaves every compact set) and recurrence in law (i.e. there exists a μ stationary probability measure on X).First, we show that, in general, there is no dichotomy between almost-certain recurrence and transience by constructing an example with both almost-certainly recurrent and almost-certainly transient points. We then prove a criterion for almost-certain recurrence when G is a semi-simple Lie group and X is a G-space. In fact, in this case, we have a dichotomy where either every point of X is almost-certainly recurrent, or every point of X is almost certainly transient. When G is the affine group GL(d,ℝ) α ℝd, we give a criterion for recurrence in law on the affine Grassmannians. In the final chapter, we give some partial results from an ongoing project, which give a criterion for recurrence in law the group SO(p,p+1)α ℝ2p+1

Testo completoThe aim of this thesis is to construct new interesting complex algebraic Fano varieties and varieties with trivial canonical bundle and to analyze their geometry. In the first part we construct special varieties as zero loci of homogeneous bundles inside generalized Grassmannians. We give a complete classification for varieties of small dimension when the bundle is completely reducible. Thus, we prove that the only fourfolds with trivial canonical bundle so constructed which are hyper-Kahler are the examples of Beauville-Donagi and Debarre-Voisin. The same holds in ordinary Grassmannians when the bundle is irreducible in any dimension. In the second part we use orbital degeneracy loci (ODL), which are a generalization of classical degeneracy loci, to construct new varieties. ODL are constructed from a model, which is usually an orbit closure inside a representation. We recall the fundamental properties of ODL. As an illustration of the construction, we construct three Hilbert schemes of two points on a K3 surface as ODL, and many examples of Calabi-Yau and Fano threefolds and fourfolds. Then we study orbit closures inside quiver representations, and we provide crepant Kempf collapsings for those of type A_n, D_4; this allows us to construct some special varieties as ODL.Finally we focus on a particular class of Fano varieties, namely bisymplectic Grassmannians. These varieties admit the action of a torus with a finite number of fixed points. We find the dimension of their moduli space. We then study the equivariant cohomology of symplectic Grassmannians, which turns out to help understanding better that of bisymplectic ones. We analyze in detail the case of dimension 6

Testo completoThe goal of this thesis is to study constant mean curvature surfaces into homogeneous 3-manifolds with 4-dimensional isometry group. In the first part of this thesis, we study constant mean curvature surfaces in the product manifolds \mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R} and \mathbb{H}^2\times\mathbb{R}. As a main result, we establish a local classification for constant mean curvature surfaces with constant intrinsic curvature in these spaces. In this classification, we present a new example of constant mean curvature surfaces with constant intrinsic curvature in \mathbb{H}^2\times\mathbb{R}. As a consequence, we use the sister surface correspondence to classify the constant mean curvature surfaces with constant intrinsic curvature in the others homogeneous 3-manifolds with 4-dimensional isometry group, and then new examples with these conditions arise in \widetilde{\mathrm{PSL}}_{2}(\mathbb{R}). We devote the second part of this thesis to study minimal surfaces in \mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R}. For this, we define a new Gauss map for surfaces in this space using the model of \mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R} isometric to \mathbb{R}^3\setminus\{0\}, endowed with a metric conformally equivalent to the Euclidean metric of \mathbb{R}^3. As a main result, we prove that any two minimal conformal immersions in \mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R} with the same non-constant Gauss map differ by only two types of ambient isometries. Moreover, if the Gauss map is a singular, we show that it is necessarily constant and then the surface is a vertical cylinder over a geodesic of \mathbb{S}^2 in \mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R}. We also study some particular cases, among them we also prove that there is no minimal conformal immersion into \mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R} with anti-holomorphic non-constant Gauss map

Testo completoSince the early 1980s healthcare systems in the industrialized nations have been undergoing radical reform aimed at curbing overspending of hospital expenditure. After a discussion of the limits of a prospective payment due to heterogeneity of costs within DRGS, we demonstrate the ability of a novel statistical model to identify high cost patients. We derive from this statistical model an economic heuristic in order to account for high cost patients in budget allocation and a structural and contingent method is proposed as a budgeting tool. Economic analysis based on this modelling of DRG heterogeneity further reveals the potential for improving the equity and the efficiency of the prospective payment system by restricting its perverse effects. This model may also be used as a strategic management tool for hospitals or as a means for regulators to evaluate treatment and admission practices so as to improve health care provision. This statistical analysis was designed on the basis of a mixture of weibull distribution, in which proportion of high-cost patients was expressed according to the multinomial logistic regression, allowing the determination of high-cost factors. An application of the statistical model to 124 DRGS on a French reference database stresses the problem of heterogeneity of costs and length of stays within most of DRGS. An example of identification of explanatory variables of high costs is carried out on several DRGS. The economic application of the statistical model is discussed pointing out the implications, in terms of efficiency, of improving hospital management. The other advantage of this statistical model is to allow the assessment of a revision of the DRG classification from both statistical and economic point of views

In many situations, it is important to know if an algebraic cycle modulo rational equivalence $y$ on $Y$ defined over the function field $F(X)$ of $X$ is actually defined over the base field $F$. In this dissertation, we study that matter, making the variety $X$ vary among varieties such as quadrics, projective homogeneous varieties or principal homogeneous spaces. In each situation, we use appropriate tools, such as Steenrod operations, motivic decomposition results or cohomological invariants of algebraic groups

Testo completoWonderful compactifications of adjoint reductive groups over an algebraically closed field play an important role in algebraic geometry and representation theory. In this thesis, we construct an equivariant com- pactification for adjoint reductive groups over arbitrary base schemes. Our compactifications parameterize classical wonderful compactifications of De Concini and Pro- cesi as geometric fibers. Our construction is based on a variant of the Artin-Weil method of birational group laws, and, in the split case, dose not depend on the existence of the classical wonderful compactification over an algebraically closed field. In particular, our construction gives a new intrinsic construction of wonderful compac- tifications. The Picard group scheme of our compactifi- cations is computed. We also discuss several applications of our compactification in the study of torsors under reductive group schemes

Testo completoThis thesis deals with the arithmetic of linear groups over p-adic function fields. We divide the thesis into several parts. In the first part, we recall a cohomological obstruction to the Hasse principle for torsors under tori [HS16] and another obstruction to weak approximation for tori [HSS15] Subsequently we compare the two obstructions in two different manners. In particular, we show that the obstruction to the Hasse principle for torsors under tori can be described by an unramifed cohomology group. In the second part, we establish some arithmetic duality theorems and deduce a Poitou-Tate style exact sequence for a short complex of tori. Later on, we manage to find a defect to weak approximation for certain connected reductive groups using a piece of the Poitou-Tate sequence. In the last part, we consider a Borel-Serre style finiteness theorem in Galois cohomology. The first ingredient is that the finiteness of the kernel of the global-to-local map for linear groups will follow from that of absolutely simple simply connected groups. Subsequently, we show the kernel is a finite set for a list of absolutely simple simply connected groups

Testo completoThe aim of this thesis is the study of quantization of coisotropic Lie subalgebras of Lie bialgebras.A coisotropic Lie subalgebra of a Lie bialgebra is a Lie subalgebra which is also a Lie coideal. The problem of quantization of coisotropic Lie subalgebra was set forth by V. Drinfeld, in his study of quantization of Poisson homogeneous spaces G/C. These problems are closely related to the duality principle established by N. Ciccoli and F. Gavarini. In this thesis, we search for an answer to this quantization problem in different settings. Firstly, we show that a quantization exists for simple Lie bialgebras by constructing a quantization of examples provided by M. Zambon. We then establish a link between the quantization which we constructed and a classification of subalgebras right coideals established by I. Heckenberger and S. Kolb. Secondly, we find an obstruction to the quantization in the universal setting by using a third-order quantization constructed by V. Drinfeld. We show that this obstruction vanishes in the examples studied earlier. Finally, we generalize a result of P. Etingof and D. Kazhdan on the quantization of poisson homogeneous spaces, linked to Lagrangian Lie subalgebras of Drinfeld's double

Testo completoOral language is omnipresent in the classroom, especially in nursery school. However, its teaching remains complex and little implemented, even though it is one of the vectors of school success. This thesis examines the effects of three language activities implemented by a teacher with small groups of kindergarten pupils, selected on the basis of the quantitative and qualitative heterogeneity of their speech. It is part of a socioconstructivist framework that considers the role of interactions between children and their environment in language acquisition to be fundamental. Thus, in our study, carried out in a school context, verbal interactions between teacher and pupils are crucial to the learning of new discourse practices. Our analyses are based on quantitative observables (percentage of speaking time, utterances produced, LME, etc.) and qualitative observables (content of utterances), which enable us to draw up language portraits of the pupils and assess their variations according to the grouping modalities and activities proposed. This study shows that the variation in grouping modalities helps students learn to construct themselves as interlocutors in different contexts. But above all, this research shows that the choice of language activities has a far greater impact than grouping modalities on students' language productions, and more particularly on those of “little” talkers. Our study shows that it is important to vary the language activities aimed at students, so as to inscribe them in different discourse genres and teach them to use a variety of linguistic tools. This research also shows that the nature of the verbal productions of “high” talkers is more heterogeneous than those of “low” talkers. In fact, a language profile common to the “big talkers” in our study emerges during the three activities proposed, since they speak spontaneously, follow up on the teacher's speeches as well as those of their peers, and the content of their speeches is varied. The language profile of “small” talkers is more heterogeneous and depends more on the activities proposed. Nevertheless, we note some common features, such as the fact that most of them follow on from the teacher's speeches, and often after questioning on her part, or the fact that the content of their speeches is more stable than that of “big” talkers. Finally, the last part of our thesis focuses on the professional language gestures (LPG) mobilized in each of the activities, depending on whether the students are “small” or “big” talkers. This research, carried out with groups of four students, shows that working with a small number of students enables the teacher to feedback and adjust the LPGs to the needs of the students, the latter being different in the “small” and “large” talker groups, which explains why the number of LPGs and the nature of the latter vary according to the group. However, the teacher's representations of “little” and “big” talkers can sometimes have an effect on the LPGs mobilized during the activities

Testo completoIn this work, we study closed locally homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian manifolds through the notion of (G,X)-structure, introduced by Thurston in his geometrization program. We start by presenting the general problem. In particular, we discuss the link between geodesical completeness of those manifolds and another notion of completeness specific to (G,X)-structures. In chapter 1, we also give a new proof of a theorem by Bromberg and Medina which classifies left invariant Lorentz metrics on SL(2,R) that are geodesically complete. Conjecturally, every pseudo-riemannian (G,X)-structure on a closed manifold is complete. Here we prove that it holds for certain geometries, provided that the (G,X )-structure is a priori Kleinian . This implies that, for such geometries, completeness is a closed condition. When X is a Lie group of rank 1 handled with its Killing metric, this result complements a theorem of Guéritaud–Guichard–Kassel–Wienhard, acording to which completeness is an open condition. We then turn to the study of representations of surface groups into the isometry group of a complete simply connected Riemannian manifold M of curvature less than or equal to -1. Given such a representation ρ, we prove that the set of Fuchsian representations j for which there exists a (j,ρ)-equivariant contracting map from H2 to M is a non-empty open contractible subset of the Teichmüller space (unless ρ itself is Fuchsian). This result allows us to describe the space of Lorentz metrics of constant curvature -1 on a circle bundle over a closed surface. We show that this space has finitely many connected components, classified by an invariant that we call the length of the fiber. We also prove that the total volume of those metrics only depends on the topology of the bundle and on the length of the fiber

Testo completoThe somato-sensory system allows our organism to detect a myriad of external and internal stimuli that can range from innocuous stimuli (pleasant touch, etc) to noxious ones (burns, tissue injury, etc). The somato-sensory neurons involved in these processes innervate the entire organism and have their cell bodies clustered within the dorsal root ganglion. Pain is a modality of the somatosensory system, sensed through nociceptors. Nociceptors represent a heterogeneous class of somato-sensory neurons with respect to functional, electrophysiological and molecular criteria. In order to expand the knowledge of the functional specialization of nociceptors, our team's strategy aimed at identifying new molecular markers of nociceptors subsets. Subsequent design of the corresponding genetic tools allowed us investigating their specific function. Therefore, we found a gene that was never described before and that marks a specific subset of nociceptors. We named it GINIP (Gaplha Inhibitory Interacting Protein) as during my thesis I showed that:- GINIP physically interacts with inhibitory G-proteins- GINIP loss of function (GINIP knock out mouse) leads to the amplification of neuropathic pain- the associated mechanism involves GABAergic signalingPathological pain (chronic inflammatory pain and neuropathic pain) is, among others, a consequence of nociceptor dysfunction. Importantly, the mechanisms leading to this aberrant function are still not totally understood. Altogether, my results underscore a new pathway involved in the negative control of nociceptors under neuropathic pain conditions, and this opens a path for new therapeutic strategies

Testo completoThe work presented in the manuscript focus on α-olefin polymerization catalysis, and is divided into four distinct parts. The first part is dedicated to the study of catalytic systems for the production of elastomeric polypropylene. The analysis of the produced polymers and the characterization of the catalysts showed the presence of two homopolymers as a blend in the elastomeric polypropylene. The second part focuses on the copolymerization of bifunctionnal vinyl-vinylidene monomers with propylene. The characterization of the polymers revealed the reactivity of the vinylidène bonds and showed different polymerization mechanisms for the different catalysts. The third part reports a study on the activation and deactivation pathways of the active species in polymerization. The characterization of model cationic species and the study of their behavior in solution and in polymerization showed the relationship between the electrophilicity of the species and its productivity in propylene polymerization. The last part is dedicated to the polymerization of hindered α-olefins. The quest for a productive catalyst led to test various single site catalysts with different structures. Deactivating interactions between the monomers and the catalyst are supposed to explain the low productivity of the tested catalysts

Testo completoDue to the use of sacrificial catalysts, most of the time derived from main group elements or 1st row transition metal, new methodologies were developed in this thesis to access complex molecules. i) Bicyclolactones were synthesized by an intramolecular addition of β-ketoesters into 1,3-dienes catalyzed by a cooperative Bi(OTf)₃ / HOTf catalytic system. ii) The 7-alkynylcyclohepatriene moiety was studied and afforded different products provided by a cycloisomerization of 1,6-enynes or an hydroarylation of allenes. The selectivity of this reaction is dependent of the soft or hard character of the Lewis acids engaged. iii) Afterward, the 7-alkynylcycloheptatriene moeity was used as a plateform to access various polycyclic molecules in presence of Lewis acids or bromophenylallenes in presence of a bromation agent. Thus the bromoallene formed can be engaged in C-C and C-N cross coupling reactions or in a CH propargylation reaction. iv) The reductive ethylation of imines using ethanol and a simple iron complex was developed and led to the formation of tertiary amines with three different substituents
