Abstract (sommario):
In this article I will explore the hypothesis that hybrid narrative forms (consisting of journalism, fiction and scientific knowledge) can be more effective in the task of narrating the present of the so-called Anthropocene, marked by the climate crisis and the consequences of neoliberal politics. As a first and fundamental step, I underline the need for a critical work on the language that dominates our societies, through the analysis of Personne ne sort les fusils by Sandra Lucbert. I then briefly consider the role that scientific information and its popularization can play in the hybridization of narrative forms, taking as an example the short story by Ted Chiang “The Evolution of Human Science”. I conclude by analysing Storie della grande estinzione by the Italian collective author TINA, which, with its coexisting different forms of fiction, essay, popular science and critical theory, is not only a clear example of this hybridization but also provides an important mythopoetic dimension based on these same forms.

Abstract (sommario):
The aim of this research study is to determine how students define their anxiety about learning mathematics, to determine the symptoms of anxiety and to define how anxiety occurs. The phenomenology research design was used in the study. A semi-structured interview form was used as a data collection tool in the research. The data were analyzed through the content analysis. The study group of the research consists of four male and four female 8th graders in two public secondary schools in Uluborlu district of Isparta. According to the results, students predominantly defined mathematics anxiety as frightening/scary. Also, students identified the symptoms of mathematics anxiety mostly as the theme of physical/physical symptoms. Students stated that sociological, psychological and philosophical dimensions were effective in the emergence of mathematical anxiety. Some students expressed common views on the sociological dimension-psychological and psychological-philosophical dimension. The effects of mathematics anxiety have been examined under two titles as the effects related to the psychological and sociological dimensions. While the effects related to the psychological dimension are discussed in terms of course achievement and effects on themselves, the effects related to the sociological dimension are discussed in terms of their effects on their relationship with their family and friends.

Abstract (sommario):
The introduction to this article seeks to clarify the expression "new evangelization" demonstrating its sense and its necessity in our days. Next the article discusses, in a personal choice, three fimdamental themes that can enable it to be truly effective. The first concems the problematic transmission of the faith to the younger generations, emphasizing the importance of the personal experience of faith. The second theme concems the conversion to explain its meaning in the Nev^ Testament, its various modalities and above ali its necessity today. The last theme seeks to recapture the existential and mystical core of the Christian faith, partly forgotten in Latin tradition which is more oriented toward the doctrinal and the canonical dimension, but of great urgency today.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract. For much of the post-war period of welfare state formation, T.H. Marshall's idea of shared entitlement to universal social rights of citizenship formed the theoretical foundations of social democratic political reforms and legitimacy. This approach has been updated by contemporary egalitarian theorists, such as John Rawls. The ongoing politics of restructuring have led to a growing number of arguments against the motivational capacity of an institutional account of social unity. This paper examines a particular argument against rights-based citizenship—David Miller's theory of nationality. Miller argues that “pure” citizenship rests on self-interest, and thus when differences in risk are explicit it can only legitimate minimal redistribution. Strong welfare states require pre-political ties and must be embedded in the ethical relations of shared nationality. Against Miller's position, it is advanced that shared citizenship has both effective motivational and moral dimensions. It can also address the problems the nationality thesis faces in reconciling its account of motivation with the moral diversity that is constitutive of pluralist societies.Résumé.

Abstract (sommario):
Objective: The development of tourism is one the main objectives of managers seeking a greater competitive advantage for destinations. To achieve this objective, the political-institutional structure related to public and private organizations involved in the Brazilian scenario of tourism activities deliberately operate in the format of Regional Tourism Organizations—RTOs, which started in 2004. In this context, the aim of this study arose, which is to analyze the power relations of Regional Tourism Organizations of tourist regions. Design/Methodology: This research adopted a qualitative and quantitative approach, with data collection through documents, laws, reports and information about the RTOs and questionnaires in forms applied to 27 representatives of the public sector, 14 representatives of private sector and six representatives of the third sector, from a total population of 89 active members of the Regional Tourism Organizations: Costa Verde e Mar (state of Santa Catarina), Hortênsias (state of Rio Grande do Sul), and Costa das Dunas (state of Rio Grande do Norte). During the application of the forms, interviews were carried out, totaling 47 interviews with members of the RTOs. Quantitative analyses were generated by mean, mode, absolute and relative frequencies, multiple responses and dispersion graph, with the use of descriptive analyses. The qualitative analyses involving documents were descriptive, and those involving oral information were carried out using analysis of content of Bardin (1977). The different methods that were used in an interrelated manner and helped in the analysis of the data coming from the application of forms (quantitative), official documents (laws/decrees, regulations and statutes), and interviews with actors of the regional tourism organizations (qualitative), enabled the measurement of the effectiveness of the process of management of RTOs in relation to the dimension Power Relationship and the variables analyzed Representativeness, Harmony, Trust and Decision-Making Power. Results: As a result, it was seen that the regional tourism organizations of the tourist regions operate in an effective manner in the public or private sectors and that they involve the management of shared practices by the regional tourism organizations in the destinations studied in terms of representativeness, harmony, trust and decision-making power. Novelty/Value: This research theoretically deepened for the academy the theme of regional governance and power relationship between public and private actors in tourism who are important for the competitive performance of a tourist destination. It also analyzes how the management and governance of regional tourism organizations behaves in terms of power relationships.

Abstract (sommario):
In Education for Sustainable Development, the topic of sustainable nutrition offers an excellent learning topic as it combines the five dimensions of health, environment, economy, society, and culture, unlike most topics with a regional-global scope. The identification of existing students’ conceptions of this topic is important for the development of effective teaching and learning arrangements. This study aimed to understand students’ conceptions of sustainable nutrition and the relevance that students attribute to the five dimensions. For this purpose, we conducted semi-structured individual interviews with 10th-grade students at secondary schools in Germany (n = 46; female = 47.8%; MAge = 15.59, SD = 0.78). We found that the health dimension prevailed in students’ conceptions of sustainable nutrition; however, the more dimensions the students considered, the less importance was attached to the health dimension. The ecological dimension, in turn, became more prominent as the students’ conceptions became more elaborate. Many students neglected the social, economic, and especially the cultural dimensions. Furthermore, alternative conceptions of the terminology of sustainable nutrition, which did not correspond to the scientific concept, were identified. Students had difficulties linking the ecological, social, economic, and cultural dimensions to sustainable nutrition due to a predominant egocentric perspective on nutrition, which primarily entails focusing on one’s own body.

Abstract (sommario):
In China, a large number of studies have investigated the impact of error management on academic performance, but there are few studies using mind mapping as a tool for error management. The present study explores the practice between error management methods adopted by students and students' error management metacognition and math achievement. Participants were 300 Grade 5 and 6 students from three schools in Zhejiang, China. In this study, a error management metacognitive questionnaire is used to collect data. The questionnaire was divided into 7 dimensions: concept, attitude, behavior, strategy, motivation, communication and atmosphere. According to the score of the questionnaire, the 50 students with the highest score are classified as high group, and the 50 students with the lowest score are classified as low group. The results showed that the two groups of students had little difference in the two dimensions of concept and attitude, and the other five dimensions were significantly different. Among them, the learning strategy dimension has the biggest difference in results. The use of mind mapping can effectively help students internalize knowledge, actively complete the construction of knowledge system, and promote the learning communication among students.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract A great deal of speculation dominates the translation industry with regard to the effectiveness of (MT) Machine Translation, or translation software. This project investigates the conclusions of Bennet (1994) about the size of the UT (unit of translation), based on the raw translations of a sample text as produced by four competitive PC programs. These programs are all transfer systems, which employ a minimum UT, such as a single noun phrase. The sample text is an authentic business correspondence text. A linguistic analysis of the four translations is performed. Results of the analysis show that numerous errors are committed which require the intervention of the professional translator. This research concludes that, for this type of text, a transfer system is not cost-effective because it will still require extensive human editing. The semantic errors particularly demonstrate the need to emphasize research towards the development of translation software which incorporates a larger UT.

Abstract (sommario):
Science education in primary school is critical for establishing a comprehensive understanding of the nature of science. Students with positive attitudes towards science courses are more likely to achieve academic success. Measuring and fostering positive attitudes is essential for effective instructional planning. This study aimed to develop a measurable scale to assess the attitudes of fourth-grade elementary school students in Northern Cyprus towards Science and Technology Courses (STC). While developing the Student Science and Technology Attitude Scale (SSTAS), the literature was reviewed, and 168 students were asked to write essays about STC. A pool of attitude items was created by analyzing the literature and essays, and expert opinions were sought. The preliminary scale was prepared based on expert consultation. The study group included 651 randomly selected fourth-grade students during the 2020-2021 academic year. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were conducted to determine SSTAS's construct validity. The results indicated that the scale is valid and reliable, comprising three dimensions. The first dimension measures students' attitudes towards the teaching process, with 13 items. The second dimension assesses students' negative attitudes, including five items. The third dimension evaluates students' attitudes towards experiments, containing five items. Keywords: science and technology lesson, attitude toward science and technology courses, attitude scale development

Abstract (sommario):
We designed and implemented two instructional approaches to plant education, with the intention of supporting positive attitudes toward plants among sixth-grade students (11–13 years old). In one instructional approach, students prepared a book about plants that have interesting characteristics. In the other approach, students visited a botanical garden. The purpose of the study was to compare the effects of these approaches on students' attitudes toward plants. A matched-pairs experimental design was used in the research. A total of 56 students (28 in each group) participated in the study. Data were gathered by using the Plant Attitude Questionnaire. This instrument consisted of 28 items using a five-point Likert scale and included four dimensions of attitudes toward plants: importance, urban trees, interest, and utilization. Our results indicate that instruction via writing a book about plants with interesting characteristics is a good way to support students' positive attitudes toward plants; this approach was especially effective in the dimensions of interest and utilization. The botanical garden trip was also effective, though in a more limited way, in supporting students' positive attitudes toward plants; this approach was most effective in the dimension of urban trees.

Abstract (sommario):
The conceptual framework of the Dynamic Model of Educational Effectiveness (DMEE) was used to detect effective characteristics of teaching in the Maldives. The sample consisted of grade four students (N =350) and class teachers (N =31) from eight primary schools in the urban capital city of Male’, Maldives. The study is a quantitative research and adopts an experimental design where the second low-inference observation instrument and the student questionnaire of the DMEE was used in the collection of classroom data through multi-stage sampling techniques. Descriptive statistics are then used to describe the basic features of the data in study. Results revealed that there are many dimensions from the DMEE valued at 0. This is an indication that teaching factors such as structuring, application, modelling or questioning did not occur at all in some Maldivian classrooms. However, on an average, across the teacher sample, enough time was detected (3 minutes) for structuring activities, 12 minutes for application activities. Though it is to be noted there are great variations in this find. The most important find from the study is that the minimum value recorded for all the teaching factors in the differentiation dimension is zero indicating there is no differentiated teaching detected in Maldivian classrooms as well. Implications are then drawn for teachers’ professional development in the Maldives.

Abstract (sommario):
The study examines the differential influence of four types of conflict—two physical conflicts and two social conflicts—on the improvement of the ability to solve balance problems. A total of 395 subjects, consisting of preschoolers, 3rd, and 5th graders, participated in three sessions: the pre-test, the intervention in which visual, kinesthetic, peer, or child-adult conflicts were presented, and the post-test. In each of the sessions the subjects were required to solve balance problems based on prototype problems employed by Siegler (1976). The ” ndings indicate that the kinesthetic conflict is the most effective in promoting the consideration of the distance dimension at the preschool age and that child-adult conflict is the most effective in promoting the coordination of weight and distance dimensions at school age. In addition, peer conflict was found to be significantly effective but only in 5th grade. In conclusion, the results suggest that the effectiveness of cognitive conflicts depends on both the demands of the task and the developmental stage of the child.

Abstract (sommario):
During the past decades, many researchers have attempted to explore effective teaching methods for developing students’ descriptive writing performance. In this study, the worked example was implemented as an effective way of guiding students to provide step-by-step solutions to learning tasks. Moreover, a spherical video-based virtual reality (SVVR) environment was provided to place students in real-world situations which enabled them to experience the learning contexts in depth. A pretest-posttest quasi experimental study was conducted to explore the influence of the SVVR-supported worked example approach and engagement level on students’ Chinese descriptive writing performance. A total of 79 fourth-grade elementary school students participated in this study. The experimental group used SVVR with worked examples to complete Chinese writing assignments, whereas the control group used videos and worked examples. The results showed no significant effects of the SVVR-supported worked example approach compared with the conventional worked example approach regarding organization, sensory details, or creativity dimensions. As for the figurative expression dimension, students in the SVVR-supported worked example approach condition scored significantly higher. Moreover, high engagement students significantly outperformed low engagement students in all four writing performance dimensions. Additionally, a significant interaction effect between learning approach and engagement level on figurative expression was found.

Abstract (sommario):
In the era of big data, the traditional governance model of student behavior management gradually shows the disadvantage of “post positioning”. Therefore, the research uses relevant data mining algorithms to extract and analyze students’ behavior characteristics, and constructs a SPC system model for students’ behavior analysis and performance prediction. At the same time, the experiment verifies its effectiveness. The experimental results show that in the factor analysis, the overall variance of the first seven indicators is 69.942\%, which shows that there is a significant correlation between students’ learning behavior and academic performance. In the model performance analysis of SPC system, the accuracy of the five algorithms is kept at 40% - 60%, while SVM has higher stability than other methods. In addition, the prediction accuracy and response rate of SPC model reached 86.90% and 81.57% respectively. When the sequence length was increased from 1 to 20, the accuracy of SPC model exceeded 70%; However, when the feature dimension exceeds 50, the model representation ability will decline. Therefore, appropriate feature dimensions are needed to predict student performance. To sum up, the SPC model built by the research is effective in analyzing student behavior and predicting students’ performance, and practical in actual student management.

Abstract (sommario):
Epistemological beliefs, including the source of knowledge, the certainty of knowledge, the organization of knowledge, the control of learning, and the speed of learning, are important to identify since these beliefs impact students' learning processes and how they attribute meaning to life. Concept cartoons, that students find genuine and credible, are found to be effective assessment tools in revealing these beliefs. The present study aims to identify and compare 5th and 8th grade middle school students' epistemological beliefs utilizing concept cartoons. The study participants were 5th (N=38) and 8th grade (N=47) students enrolled in three different middle schools in the Çamlıhemşin district of Rize. In order to reveal the students' opinions, one concept cartoon for each dimension of epistemological belief was utilized. A scoring rubric was employed to analyze the student responses to the concept cartoons. According to the results of the t-tests on students' scores, the 5th and 8th grade students' epistemological beliefs in the dimensions of organization of knowledge, source of knowledge, and certainty of knowledge are similar. In contrast, 8th grade students' epistemological beliefs related to the speed of learning and the control of learning were found to be significantly higher than those of 5th-grade students. Among the mean values of the students' epistemological beliefs, source of knowledge beliefs were found to be the lowest. Keywords Concept Cartoons, Epistemological Beliefs, Middle School Students

The Principal Instructional Management Rating Scale (PIMRS), developed by Hallinger and Murphy (1985) and modified by Hallinger and Wang (2015), served as the instrument for data collection through a questionnaire. A total of 392 teachers from schools in Male’, Maldives, were surveyed and data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0. The result of the study shows that all three dimensions of instructional leadership—"defining the school mission" (mean 4.05), "managing the instructional program" (mean 3.94), and "developing a positive school learning climate" (mean 3.72)—have reached a high level in practice. The study shows that the three best practices of principals in instructional leadership are to effectively communicate the school's mission to members of the school community (dimension 'Defining the School's Mission', mean 4.12), to clarify who is responsible for coordinating the curriculum across grade levels (dimension 'Managing the Instructional Program', mean 4.29), and to encourage teachers to use class time to teach and practice new skills and concepts (dimension 'Developing a Positive School Climate', mean 4.10). It is hoped that this study will provide useful insights that will be effective in improving the instructional leadership skills of principals to improve the academic performance of students and create a world-class human capital that is comparably excellent.

Abstract (sommario):
The effective dimension-5 operators can be induced by quantum gravity or inspired by string and M theories. They have important impacts on grand unified theories. We investigate their effects for the well known E(6) model. Considering the breaking chains E6↦H = SO (10)×UV′(1)↦ SU (5)× U V(1)× U V′(1)↦ SU (3)× SU (2)× U Z(1)× U V(1)× U V′(1) and E6↦H = SO (10)× U V′(1)↦ SU (4)× SU L(2)× SU R(2)× U V′(1)↦ SU (3)× SU L(2)× SU R(2)× U S(1)× U V′(1), we derive and give all of the Clebsch–Gordan coefficients [Formula: see text] associated with E6 breaking to the Standard Model (SM). Physical effects of nonzero vacuum expectations of SM singlets Higgs in E6 grand unified theories are discussed.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose: Numerous empirical studies have confirmed that learning from examples and by doing (LFED) can improve learning efficiency; however, its impact on learning motivation is still unclear. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of LFED on students' mathematics learning performance, academic engagement and academic self-efficacy to explore its effect on Learning motivation. Methods: In a cluster randomized controlled trial, 119 seventh-grade students were randomly assigned to either a four-month LFED group (n=59) or a conventional group (n=60). The interventional group was taught by the LFED method, and the other received a traditional teaching method. Both groups were assessed before and after the intervention to measure academic performance in mathematics, learning engagement, and academic self-efficacy. Results: Repeated-measures ANOVA showed a significant group-by-time effect for academic self-efficacy and learning behavior dimension scores; there were no significant group-by-time effects for math academic performance, learning engagement scores, and related dimension scores. Paired-sample t-tests showed no significant change in self-efficacy scores in the LFED group but a significant decrease in self-efficacy and all related dimensions scores in the conventional group. There was no change in cognitive engagement dimension scores in the LFED group but a substantial decrease in the conventional group. Conclusion: As an adaptive learning method originating from artificial intelligence, LFED had an equal impact on math academic performance as traditional teaching methods. However, LFED was feasible and effective in enhancing students’ academic self-efficacy and cognitive learning engagement.

Abstract (sommario):
More than 80% of medical schools in Korea (33 medical schools out of 41) provide medical ethics courses as a core curriculum in Korea. However, few residency programs offer medical ethics education as a graduate medical education. Since resident years are a critical period of socialization and professionalization of becoming doctors, ethics education in graduate medical education is far more important than in undergraduate medical education. In 2002, faculty members of the Department of Family Medicine at Guro Hospital, one of the three Korea University Medical Centers, organized medical ethics grand rounds as a part of graduate medical education. Residents for themselves selected cases to be presented and discussed for the grand rounds. The goals of the grand round are to recognize ethical dimension of medical practice, to discuss ethical issues embedded in cases among professions involved in medical practice, and to reach reasonable decision making by interprofessional discussion and ethical reasoning. The grand rounds were open to those who participate in patient care: physicians, nurses, pastors, nuns, social workers, medical students, nursing students, hospital administrators, and members of hospital ethics committees. Usually 50 to 80 people attended the grand round and participated actively in the discussion. Our experience of medical ethics grand rounds shows that ethics grand rounds can be an effective and practical method of ethics education for residents. The motivation of residents was high since they dealt with their patient cases, wishing to solve ethically complicated problems in the cases. Although physicians' perspectives were rather dominant, the interprofessional approach was fruitful for the participants from various professionals.

Abstract (sommario):
The effects of multicultural education on the racial attitudes of students in prekindergarten through twelfth grade are examined in this meta-analysis. Multicultural education was operationalized for this study as programs and curricula dealing with racial and cultural diversity. The effect sizes of curricular intervention and reinforcement dimensions of multicultural education in suburban and urban settings among age groups 3-8 and 9-16 were compared to see the relative effectiveness of multicultural education on students’ racial attitudes. The mean effect size of 0.488 from a total of 60 effect sizes calculated using 30 studies shows that exposure to multicultural education led to a reduction in students’ racial attitudes. However, the mean effect size of 0.645 from curricular intervention studies was higher than the mean effect size of the reinforcement studies at 0.08, indicating that the curricular intervention dimension of multicultural education was more effective in reducing students’ racial attitudes. Multicultural education was more effective in reducing racial attitudes in urban areas with a mean effect size of 0.72, than in suburban areas with a mean effect size of 0.587. Multicultural education was also more effective in reducing racial attitudes among the 9-16 age group with a mean effect size of 0.751, than among the 3-8 age group with a mean effect size of 0.208. Implications for research and for practice with emphasis on closing the achievement gap that exists among the various student subgroups primarily in under achieving inner-city public schools are discussed.

Abstract (sommario):
Global competence (GC) helps to overcome multidimensional problems that should be learned in education. The integration of it can be done through the English for Change textbook which is the current and latest English textbook applying the Merdeka Curriculum. This research investigates the representation of GC in the English for Change textbook for 11th-grade Indonesian senior high school students. This qualitative research employed Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to evaluate and analyze the representation of GC in the 'English for Change’ textbook, which follows the Merdeka Curriculum. The analysis was started by reading and codifying some parts of the textbook to four dimensions of GC from OECD PISA, which are examining the local, global, and intercultural problems; understanding and appreciating various perspectives from others; engaging in open, appropriate, and effective multicultural interaction; and taking action for the development and sustainability of well-being. The finding reveals that GC is represented sufficiently which can be found in 59 pages in the book. The most dimension used is to take action for collective well-being and sustainable development with a percentage of 42.37%. However, examining local, international, and intercultural problem dimensions should be exposed more in the book with a percentage of only 11.86%. Therefore, teachers and students need to learn GC through the English for Change textbook and expand additional insights about multidimensional problems through other learning resources besides the English for Change textbook.

Abstract (sommario):
The learning method that has been applied in Grade IV at Joannes Bosco Elementary School Yogyakarta is less engaging. It affects the students’ performance. They show less cooperation. On the other hand, the expected achievement targets are not to be met. This research aims to improve the Gotong Royong dimension character and achievement targets through the implementation of a problem-based learning (PBL) model assisted by YouTube video media. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles with the theme "My Unique Self," focusing on the sub-topics of strengths and weaknesses, and gratitude for uniqueness, with each cycle consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 26 students of Grade IV, Phase B, at Joannes Bosco Elementary School Yogyakarta. The results showed an increase in the Gotong Royong dimension of the Pancasila Student Profile (P3) from 57% to 81% during the learning process using the PBL method. There was also an improvement in student learning outcomes, with the percentage of students achieving "proficient" increasing from 38% to 62%, "competent" remaining at 38%, and the categories "adequate" and "developing" decreasing from 19% and 4% to 0%, respectively. Overall, focusing on the Gotong Royong dimension using the PBL model assisted by YouTube videos proved effective in enhancing both the Gotong Royong character and learning achievement in Catholic Religious Education for Grade IV students at Joannes Bosco Elementary School Yogyakarta. It is suggested that teachers focus on one dimension in the character development process using methods that emphasize problem-solving.

Abstract (sommario):
Composite materials are characterized by multiple layers, which leads to a complexity in the design in order to ensure the effective operation of the constituent elements. This article provides information on the use of fractal dimension in assessing the quality of the appearance of paint coatings. The scientific originality of the article lies in the establishment of a correlation between the surface roughness of coatings, the quality grade of their appearance and fractal dimension. As a result, a model of the length of the coating surface profile, with the fractal dimension D, was proposed. The practical significance lies in the proposal to evaluate the quality of the surface of paint and varnish coatings in terms of fractal dimension. An increase in the surface roughness of the coating, a decrease in the appearance quality grade and an increase in the fractal dimension have been observed. Numerical values of the index of the fractal dimension of the coating surface profile, which depended on the porosity of the substrate, have been obtained. The influence of the filling of the paint composition on the quality of the appearance of the coatings has been estimated. It has been revealed that there was an increase in the surface tension of the paint composition, a decrease in the quality of the appearance of the resulting coating and an increase in the roughness and fractal dimension of the coating surface. The influence of the method of applying the paint composition and the preparation of the base surface on the quality of the appearance of the coatings are considered. The results obtained can be applied in various types of production to improve the quality of paint coatings.

Abstract (sommario):
Material and methods. Ultrasound ablation has been performed in 165 patients with metastatic liver cancer (metastases of colorectal cancer as a rule) and in 17 patients with unresectable pancreatic neoplasms for the period from April 2009 to December 2017. All patients with metastatic liver cancer underwent previous surgery for primary tumor. In 53% of cases unresectable pancreatic tumor was complicated by mechanical jaundice that required biliary drainage and stenting before ablation. Ultrasound and contrast-enhanced CT were applied to assess changes of tumor dimensions, its structure compared with initial data, vascularization grade, continued growth or de novo metastases with positive changes within destruction area. Percutaneous biopsy of liver and pancreatic tumors was carried out in 136 patients (75%) to assess morphological changes of tumor in pre- and postoperative period. Results. There were no intra – and postoperative complications. Three types of changes occurring within destruction area were revealed. Positive changes including changes of tumor structure, reduced dimensions and volume were observed in 76 (46%) patients. 38 (23%) patients had either augmentation of dimensions and volume of destruction area or appearance of additional tumor tissue on the periphery of metastasis. De novo liver metastases or other distant ones occurred in 51 (31%) patients with positive changes in destruction area. Oncologists of our center evaluated immediate and long-term outcomes of combined treatment. Reduced tumor dimension on the background of mild or absent pain syndrome were confirmed in 12 (72%) patients after ablation of pancreatic tumor. In 8 out of 12 patients weight gain and absent pain syndrome were observed within 48 months. Conclusion. Ultrasound ablation is effective and safe for local destruction of secondary liver tumors and unresectable pancreatic tumors. This approach is indicated for inoperable cases and as a stage of combined treatment.

Abstract (sommario):
Background: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive alternative in the treatment of bone tumors. Long-term follow-up has not been described in current literature. Detailed analysis of mid- and long-term follow-up after RFA treatment for a cohort of patients with low-grade cartilaginous tumors (atypical cartilaginous tumors and enchondroma) was performed. The results, complications, and development of halo dimensions over time are presented. Methods: Data of all patients with an RFA procedure for an ACT between 2007–2018 were included. Ablation area is visible on baseline MRI, 3 months post-procedure, and is called halo. Volume was measured on MR images and compared to different follow-up moments to determine the effect of time on halo volume. Follow-up was carried out 3 months and 1, 2, 5, and 7 years after the procedure. Occurrence of complications and recurrences were assessed. Results: Of the 137 patients included, 82 were analyzed. Mean follow-up time was 43.6 months. Ablation was complete in 73 cases (89.0%). One late complication occurred, while no recurrences were seen. Halo dimensions of height, width, and depth decreased with a similar rate, 21.5% on average in the first year. Subsequently, this decrease in halo size continues gradually during follow-up, indicating bone revitalization. Conclusion: RFA is a safe and effective treatment in low-grade cartilaginous tumors with an initial success rate of 89.0%. Extended follow-up shows no local recurrences and gradual substitution of the halo with normal bone.

Abstract (sommario):
In this article, we report a quantitative study that investigated the conceptions of secondary school students with regard to the characteristics of the effective teacher. Our purpose was to obtain a profile of the effective teacher, focusing on three dimensions: (a) the interpersonal relationship between teachers and students, (b) the teacher's justice and impartiality, and (c) the teaching strategies that have a direct influence on enhancing student involvement and learning. The questionnaire was used as a research tool. The analysis of the data revealed that students consider justice, impartiality and the interpersonal relationship between teachers and students as important characteristics of the effective teacher, whereas the teaching strategies have less importance for them. In addition, it revealed statistically significant differences in the profile of the effective teacher with respect to the students’ gender and grade and positive correlations between self-identified attainment, interpersonal relationships and teaching strategies. The students had the opportunity to express their views about the effective teacher and the teachers to improve their teaching practice and to gain a more complete picture of their students' expectations. Keywords: Effective teacher; effective teaching.

Abstract (sommario):
The research aims to study the quality of life among preparatory school students in Baghdad, particularly in the context of current social circumstances, encompassing both male and female students. The study utilizes a quality-of-life scale developed by Noor Latif Abdul Zahra, comprising 54 items distributed across ten dimensions. These dimensions include physical health, mental skills, psychological well-being, resilience, optimism and satisfaction, self-independence and self-efficacy, job satisfaction, social support, social status, and moral values. The research problem revolved around the question: "Is there a sense of quality of life among fifth-grade preparatory school students (both males and females)?" The researchers established the scientific foundations of the scale and, after validating its reliability, distributed it to 40 preparatory school students (both males and females) in Baghdad. After statistically analyzing the data, the researchers found that preparatory school students (males and females) indeed perceive a high quality of life. Furthermore, female students outperformed their male counterparts in all dimensions and the overall quality of life score, and this achieves one of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations in Iraq which is (Quality Education). Based on their findings, the researchers recommend the utilization of the quality-of-life scale and suggest generalizing the results of the current study to other age groups of students. They also emphasize the need to consider the psychological issues faced by students and to develop adequate and effective strategies for addressing these issues within educational programs.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Carotid artery stenosis is implicated in up to 40% of all ischemic strokes. Accordingly, symptomatic, high-grade carotid artery stenosis portends an especially high risk of future stroke. Intervention via open or endovascular approaches drastically reduces this risk. Under the appropriate conditions, carotid artery stenting serves as a safe and effective alternative to carotid endarterectomy. We present the case of a 57-yr-old male with symptomatic, high-grade stenosis of his right internal carotid artery, for whom a history of radiation to the head and neck represented a relative contraindication to carotid endarterectomy, and thus endovascular treatment with angioplasty and stenting was performed. Informed consent was obtained prior to the procedure. Intraprocedurally, stent delivery past the area of stenosis proved somewhat challenging. However, by employing several nuanced maneuvers, we utilized our guiding catheter in a nonconventional manner in order to successfully perform the procedure. As the field of neuroendovascular surgery evolves, each case provides us unique lessons, which in turn expands our interventional capabilities and adds to the armamentarium of neuroendovascular techniques. We present this surgical video both as a means to provide a general overview of carotid artery stenting, and to share a lesson learned through the implementation of an interesting technical nuance.

Abstract (sommario):
Metacognition is an important dimension of problem solving because it includes problem-relevant awareness of one’s thinking, monitoring and regulation of cognitive processes, and application of heuristics. This study investigated the effect of Metacognition on problem solving among 150 students at Muraka Primary School, Kenya in June 2010. Students answered a 25-item self-report Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI), and a 1-item multiple choice Problem solving questionnaire (PSQ). Data were analyzed using linear regression and ANOVA. Results indicated that metacognition is a good predictor of problem solving ability. Students showed significant differences in problem solving based on grade. There was also a significant difference in metacognition level based on grade. These results imply that metacognitive ability develops with age, such that the higher the grade levels the higher the metacognitive ability. Therefore, understanding the role of metacognition in children’s everyday problem solving may lead to the development of more effective instruction, by teachers, which incorporates metacognitive skills to help children improve in their problem solving skills and overall academic achievement. Key words: cognition, metacognition, problem solving.

The increasing responsibilities of the school heads as school leaders led to the analysis of management competency of school heads perceived by the public elementary grade teachers of Lucena West District. The study revealed that the school heads’ management competencies are evident in terms of instructional skills, personnel skills, and financial skills as perceived by the schoolteachers. Findings showed that there is no significant difference in the perceived level of management competency between male and female teacher-respondents in personnel skills, except in instructional skills in terms of visibility and career motivation. There is also a significant difference between the perception of male and female respondents about the management competency in financial skills in terms of audit or financial control. There is no significant difference in the perceived level of management competency between male and female school heads, except in instructional skills in terms of instructional time as perceived by the school heads. There is a positive and significant relationship between the independent variable, perceived management competency and the dependent variable, school leadership in all the dimensions based on the perception of the teacherrespondents. Therefore, the school heads in the division may utilize the findings of the study in developing an employee enhancement program based on all the indicators considered. In addition, due to the limited number of school heads needed for accurate analyses of the relationships of the factors under management competency and school leadership, more samples for the school heads as respondents should be considered in future research.

Abstract (sommario):
BackgroundHydrolysis of extracellular ATP to adenosine (eADO) is an important immune checkpoint in cancer immunology. We here investigated the impact of the eADO pathway in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) using multiparametric platforms.MethodsWe performed a transcriptomic meta-analysis of eADO-producing CD39 and CD73, an eADO signaling gene signature, immune gene signatures and clinical outcomes in approximately 1200 patients with HGSC. Protein expression, localization and prognostic impact of CD39, CD73 and CD8 were then performed on approximately 1000 cases on tissue microarray, and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) were analyzed by flow cytometry and single-cell RNA sequencing on a subset of patients.ResultsConcomitant CD39 and CD73 gene expression, as well as high levels of an eADO gene signature, were associated with worse prognosis in patients with HGSC, notably in the immunoregulatory molecular subtype, characterized by an immune-active microenvironment. CD39 was further associated with primary chemorefractory and chemoresistant human HGSC and platinum-based chemotherapy of murine HGSC was significantly more effective in CD39-deficient mice. At protein level, CD39 and CD73 were predominantly expressed by cancer-associated fibroblasts, and CD39 was expressed on severely exhausted, clonally expanded and putative tissue-resident memory TILs.ConclusionsOur study revealed the clinical, immunological, subtype-specific impacts of eADO signaling in HGSC, unveiled the chemoprotective effect of CD39 and supports the evaluation of eADO-targeting agents in patients with ovarian cancer.

Abstract (sommario):
Aims The tibial component of total knee arthroplasty can either be an all-polyethylene (AP) implant or a metal-backed (MB) implant. This study aims to compare the five-year functional outcomes of AP tibial components to MB components in patients aged over 70 years. Secondary aims are to compare quality of life, implant survivorship, and cost-effectiveness. Methods A group of 130 patients who had received an AP tibial component were matched for demographic factors of age, BMI, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) grade, sex, and preoperative Knee Society Score (KSS) to create a comparison group of 130 patients who received a MB tibial component. Functional outcome was assessed prospectively by KSS, quality of life by 12-Item Short-Form Health Survey questionnaire (SF-12), and range of motion (ROM), and implant survivorships were compared. The SF six-dimension (6D) was used to calculate the incremental cost effectiveness ratio (ICER) for AP compared to MB tibial components using quality-adjusted life year methodology. Results The AP group had a mean KSS-Knee of 83.4 (standard deviation (SD) 19.2) and the MB group a mean of 84.9 (SD 18.2; p = 0.631), while mean KSS-Function was 75.4 (SD 15.3) and 73.2 (SD 16.2 p = 0.472), respectively. The mental (44.3 vs 45.1; p = 0.464) and physical (44.8 vs 44.9; p = 0.893) dimensions of the SF-12 and ROM (97.9° vs 99.7°; p = 0.444) were not different between the groups. Implant survivorship at five years were 99.2% and 97.7% (p = 0.321). The AP group had a greater SF-6D gain of 0.145 compared to the MB group, with an associated cost saving of £406, which resulted in a negative ICER of -£406/0.145 = -£2,800. Therefore, the AP tibial component was dominant, being a more effective and less expensive intervention. Conclusion There were no differences in functional outcomes or survivorship at five years between AP and MB tibial components in patients aged 70 years and older, however the AP component was shown to be more cost-effective. In the UK, only 1.4% of all total knee arthroplasties use an AP component; even a modest increase in usage nationally could lead to significant financial savings. Abstract (sommario):
This study aims to improve the affective learning outcomes in the dimension of collaboration (gotong royong), as well as cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes of third-grade students at SDN Sumber 3 Surakarta through the application of the Project Based Learning model assisted by audiovisual media. The urgency of selecting this topic stems from the low levels of collaboration and student participation in cooperative activities, which negatively impact social interactions and learning outcomes. Addressing this issue is critical to fostering Pancasila Student Profiles with cooperative and integrity-based characteristics. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles. The results show significant improvements in all three learning aspects. The collaboration dimension saw a 12.5% increase, with 67% of students classified as "Proficient". Cognitive learning outcomes improved by 10%, with 87% of students reaching the "Proficient" level. Psychomotor learning outcomes also increased by 5%, with 67% of students classified as "Proficient". These findings demonstrate that PBL assisted by audiovisual media is effective in fostering students' affective, cognitive, and psychomotor development while promoting active participation in project-based learning.
