Testo completoStarting from certain choices in a set of informations defining linguistical pragmatics and the evaluation of the relationship between this field of research and the didactics of language, two types of activities are suggested in this work : 1) some ones are meant to sensibilize an audience of future researchers to some disciplines of the linguistical pragmatics such as the polyphony, the argumentation, the implicit ; 2) some activities - used for their sample values - are supposed to be suggested to learns submitted to less than 250 h of french courses as a foreign language. The main goal is to emphasize the interest of taking into account these various domains in the teaching learning aspects of language
Albano, Mariangela. "Les expressions figées en didactique du français langue étrangère". Thesis, Paris 3, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020PA030008.
Testo completoIn this PhD thesis, we present the results of an experimental research on 150 Italian-speaking adults studying French in the university context: the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan, La Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Palermo. The aim of this study was to contribute to the analysis of the semantic processing of lexicalization and to the didactics of phraseology in French as a foreign language. We have thus been able to advance and verify hypotheses explaining the process of lexicalization in order to give, on the one hand, tools to teachers for its didactisation and, on the other hand, means for learners for its appropriation. This work allowed us to better understand the identification and processing of different types of phraseologies, to identify and analyze translations and translation errors produced by students. To do this, we submitted two questionnaires: the first one, called "self-assessment" questionnaire, was intended to better understand our sample. The second questionnaire, called "Expressions", focused on the treatment, translation, and comprehension of seven phraseological constructs using eight exercises inspired by phraseodidactics and cognitive semantics, including construction grammars approach, conceptual metaphor and motivation approach

Testo completoTo reply to requirements, which are more and more pressing in didactic of French foreign language, it seems interesting today to study computers, particularly the ones which are equiped by hypertext and multimedia. To analyse exactly the offered possibilities, it's necessary to look at some varied disciplines as linguistics, didactics and sciences of cognition. The integration of these tools appears to answer to needs imposed by new conditions of teaching the foreign language and didactic theories. However, the use of these tools has to come after a serious reflection about their directions of use. Thus, the interactive compact disk, considered as a new pedagogic total hardly offers possibilities, authorizing the exploration of new didactic ways. The hypertextual generator and the cd-rom, on the contrary, offer new activities, bringing concrete solutions to the student's and teacher's problems

Testo completoThis research is registered in the outline of myths didactics in classes of French taught as a Foreign Language. It examins the different problems encountered while dealing with myths in classes of FFL in Tunisia. It in fact, goes round three big axes of research. The first axis is about the theoretical plan which is linked to the mythical categories and their stakes whereas the second axis consists in catching the eye on the privileged status of myths in Tunisian official programs. It renders an account of their exploitation in classes practices via a learning module in the third form programm. The third axis sets out the results of a research in progress so as to take out the representation that pupils make of a mythical literary text and the difficulties set against the reception of such genre of account. This research leads to a programm of studies and didactic propositions which role is to make yougesters aware of the importance of a literary text including a myth, act against their representations so as to help in protecting the universal cultural patrimony and the improving of the quality of the Tunisian academic system

Testo completoWithin the framework of the learning of a foreign language (the foreign language being french), in the country of the target-language, this study proposes to analyse the various interactions between speakers from distinct cultural areas and to compare them together in order to isolate certain inter-ethnic communication's characteristics in the field of interaction routines and discursive strategies, then to draw from it some kind of lessons concerning teaching, training and research programs within the overall general subject of the teaching of languages
Ngo, Thi Thu Ha. "Argumentation et didactique du français langue étrangère pour un public vietnamien". Thesis, Lyon 2, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011LYO20042/document.
Testo completoThe aim of this dissertation is to improve the teaching of argumentation in classes of French as a foreign language in Vietnam. The study is based on the assumption that the Vietnamese students are influenced by a particular culture where authority is very important; therefore the difficulties in participating to argumentative discussions are attributed to inhibitions produced by a complex system of authority. In this perspective, expressing and taking on a disagreement in an academic context marked by authority and consensus, is never so simple. Similarly, knowing when and how to use or criticize the argument of authority in an argumentative conversation is supposed to be difficult. This dissertation is structured in four parts. The first is based on the methodological principle that to teach argumentation in French as a foreign language we have to teach the argumentation as a general language as well as the ability to argue in one’s mother tongue, here Vietnamese. The second part is devoted to study the argumentation language in a contrastive perspective French / Vietnamese. We have translated in Vietnamese words and expressions which are, although basic, difficult to understand for our students. The third section focuses on study of authority and reasoning by authority. We tried to explain why the Vietnamese are "soft" in interaction while reflecting the predominance of "preference for agreement" in Vietnamese. We have extensively analyzed a disputed issue on the exploitation of bauxite in Vietnam. This analysis aims both to demonstrate the intensity of the arguments in contemporary Vietnam, and, on the other hand, it lays the foundation for the fourth part of the dissertation. This last part develops teaching units on various topics of current interest (e.g. cloning), is to propose a new approach to teaching argumentation in French as a second language, grounded in the necessary appropriation of argumentative contents and casting doubt on the too famous “Vietnamese passivity”

Testo completoLiterature has always played a primordial part in the teaching of the mother, foreign and second languages, at the primary school level as well as at the universitary level. Sacralized because it represents the norm and holds all the virtues, literature provided the traditional methodology with the essential of the learning material. After the second world war, a new era began with the breakthrough of linguistics which abolishes this monopoly and assigns a practical objective to the teaching of french as a foreign language. Although is was ousted by the audio-visual methodology to the profit of made up or adapted texts, the value of literature is paradoxically enhanced since it crowns the learning process. Nowadays, after great controversies, the interest for literature increases. Even if its teaching was enriched and diversified in french as a mothertongue, it remains a problem in french as a foreign language. Actually a methodological hesitation remains with the communicative current which consecrates its come back but, at the same time, sacrifies the cultural aspect to the advantage of the fonctional aspect. Considered as a genuine document, the literary text appears here and there, but without being used for all its richness or its specificity. Nevertheless, the constitution of a specific didactics in the area of french as a foreign language should allow a more coherent approach and give to the literary texts and to literature in general the place they deserve in the teaching of the french language and civilization

Testo completoCultural diversity and alterity recognition are part of our everyday lives, particularly so for teachers and learners of culture-language. Communication disruptions may happen in a language classroom too. When facing the other, many questions may arise: in which situations should we take into account cultural specificities ? How can we manage cross-cultural conflicts caused by the gap between “cultures of teaching” and “cultures of learning” ? Would knowing the other’s culture be the key to cross-cultural understanding ? What constitute “cultures of teaching” and “cultures of learning” ? Are teachers aware of their words’ & attitudes’ impact on the culture-language learner’s perception, and on that culture-language’s teaching/learning ? How do teachers and students respond when facing another culture ? How can learners be led to learning autonomy ? All these questions will be dealt with through a comparative enquiry addressing four types of audience: native/non-native teachers and learners of FFL (French as a Foreign Language) in Japan, native/non-native teachers and learners of JFL (Japanese as a Foreign Language) in French higher education. Results of this enquiry’s analysis will show that the distinction between native and non-native teachers is the decisive factor in building “cultures of teaching”, while “cultures of learning” essentially involve emotional factors
Lemeunier, Valérie. "La notion d'affectivité dans une perspective de didactique du français langue étrangère". Paris 3, 1994. http://www.theses.fr/1994PA030092.
Testo completoIf education does not systematically reach its aims, it is because it does not take into account the essence and the exi of human beings. The ideology transmitted by the greatest pedagogues, from the beginning to the present, focuses on the notions of freedom, equality, identity and affectivity. Nevertheless, these notions remain in the theorie field. Even th teachers, and more especially those of french as a second language, are neglected by the state power, it is expected of to solve social problems. School failure is increasing because obstacles to teaching learning are becoming more and more important. To be a teacher becomes sacerdotal, then one can question the origins of such a vocation. No doubt that teach general. Affectivity and the lack of affectivity outline the parts a professor is willing to play, parallel to the funct imposed by the profession itself. At all times, by any means, students have learnt french. Methodological evolution does not provide better results by itself ; however it guarantees the adequacy between the techniques of teaching and the evolution of society itself. The inaccuracy which can sometimes be noticed between school and society comes from a certa lack of concerns for the necessity of methodological diversity. Now it happens that publics are plural. Pedagogic evolut must make a point in following social evolution. The method focused on the student and his her sociocultural surrondings imposes itself more than ever when the public claims its diversity. This makes it necessary to take into consideration t affective dimension. The reasons for motivation and demotivation are diverse and are closely linked to the affective parameter

Testo completoIn the formulation of an educational program, the defining of aims and objectives underlying the program is a prerequisite. These aims and objectives are indispensable not only in determining the effectiveness of the program but also in determining its content, the teaching methods and materials to be adopted as well as the evaluation techniques. However, an analysis of French teaching of Malawi indicates that this process seems to have been overlooked at the time of its introduction in the curriculum. As such, the objectives of this study are to examine the inconsistencies resulting from this situation and also to make suggestions, from a curricular perspective, aimed at redressing the problem. Suggestions will also be made regarding the introduction of genres (texts) in the French language program for secondary school students to help them acquire proficiency in the language. The study has been undertaken in the context of a considerable increase in recent years in the number of students studying French in Malawian schools as well as the adoption of the French language by the southern Africa development community (SADC) as one of its official languages of communication

Testo completoSemiotics and textual linguistics have renewed the studies of literary text in the way it is produced and in the way it is received. By choosing the referenciation phenomena as a field of possible actualization of what contitues "literarity", i propose to analyze the caracteristics and to observe the effects during the reading activities of a specific group of foreign learners in french. This confrontation between the literary text and the learners is largely affected by the teachers and the authors and their perception of the literature itself. To the study of referenciation phenomena and the didactic project of this research, i will add a speech analysis of those involved in the learning teaching act

Testo completoPlacing at the centre of teaching a foreign language and more precisely of French as a foreign language (FLE) the concept of communication means aiming to develop the learner's language competence located at the intersection of the linguistic, pragmatic and sociocultural dimensions of the target language. This Thesis, issued from the general reflection of the authentic document and of the experience of the latter, led us to base our work on exploiting advertising slogans, a composite language material, as examples of authentic documents at the service of linguistic and cultural needs of the learner. The main stream of our research starts with taking into account the complexity of this speech, based on the intersection of different linguistic processes that combine in order to attract and capture the attention of the target audience. Thus, word games, proverbs, neologisms, syntactical and lexical transgressions are discussed. It is a matter of making these speeches that cannot, at a first glance, be considered as teaching material but nonetheless fall under the teaching methods according to Moirand (1991). The theoretical anchoring of this work is located at the intersection of enunciative, pragmatic, communicative, argumentative-rhetorical approaches and the approaches of teaching French as a foreign language

Testo completoThis thesis focuses on the teaching of literary text french in french departments of Iraqi universities (University of Baghdad and University of Al-Mustansirya). First, we put into perspective the status of french language in Iraq: beginnings of the french language teaching, programs, place of literature in university departments, teaching french foreign language and literary text, and so on. Then, with reference to data collected of concrete classes in the field by audiovisual recordings, we analyze the current teaching practices of the literary text in classes registered and problems in understanding, expression, participation Students in the course, grammar and phonetics. This review is followed by an analysis of the discursive and educational aspects in french classes. Finally, we propose a practical approach to the exploitation of didactic literary text by placing it in contrast to other documents not literary (movies, dramas, songs, articles) - which makes it possible to sensitize students to different registries language. This study aims to identify the major features of the current reality of the teaching of literary text to allow for a clearer understanding and participate in the awakening of an educational thought in Iraq, with respect to the french language in general and of the literary text in particular

Testo completoThe voice in the field of the didactics of foreign languages is an issue which has been poorly examined, especially when it comes to studying students’ reactions in relation to this very important component of the language, as well as its affects. The complexity of affective relationships a subject can establish with foreign languages has always been at the center of our interest. Why is the concept of “desire” that is related to the acquisition of foreign languages neglected, when it actually depends on the desire whether the subject will love the language, be fascinated by it, or hate it, if the desire is inhibited? All these questions led us to choose the phenomenon of voice as the main topic of our research and to examine it, among other things, using an anthropological approach. In our research, we also dealt with the problem of emotions and their role in the formation of attitudes and ideas in relation to foreign languages."

Testo completoJordan is an Arab-speaking country. Arabic is spoken by all the population. English as a very important place in the education system. English is the first foreign language taught in the country. French language is gaining ground in all levels, but it cannot compete with english. Most Jordanian universities wether public or private, have departments of modern languages which offer a specialty in French language and a minor in one of these languages : Spanish, German, Russian and Italian. The student obtains a Bachelor of Arts in modern languages "specialty French language". The study aims - principally - to develop a set of means and propositions for the development and the improvement of the teaching of French language in Jordanian universities. The study also clarifies the problems and the difficulties that Jordanian students encounter during and after learning French language. To attain the objectives of this study, an investigation has been achieved in Jordan with samples that have direct links with the research topic. Semi-structured interviews were realized with French Language teachers, students and other officials who are responsible of developing the teaching of French language in the country

Testo completoThe intercultural approach, which has become cross-cutting and interdisciplinary, has been adopted and established as an essential, indispensable and indisputable component of foreign language teaching since the 1970s. However, a critical analysis of the bibliography dedicated to it and of the various uses, in all fields combined, reveals diverse and even contradictory epistemological and methodological misunderstandings and positions. This has led some authors to draw up criticisms and to suggest ways for reorientation. Furthermore, we found that in the field of foreign language teaching in Mozambique, intercultural issues were not as ubiquitous and the subject of much research as in Europe, for example. It is in this perspective that we conducted this research in order to evaluate teachers' knowledge and the mechanisms for taking this approach into account in French as a foreign language courses in Mozambique. To do this, we analyzed documents (programs and textbooks) and conducted surveys through non-participant observations, semi-directive interviews and a questionnaire. Cross-checking the results of the various analyses, we have observed that speeches and perceptions were marked by the general tendency characteristic of interculturality because, on the one hand, all teachers believe and declare that they know what it is, while having difficulty explaining its mechanisms and illustrating their knowledge with classroom activities. On the other hand, they consider civilization and cultural activities and practices to be intercultural. This leads us to doubt the practice of interculturality in this context, despite the objectives contained in the curriculum and the teachers' declarations. Indeed, we found that the concepts were poorly mastered, leading to inconsistencies in teachers' representations. We believe that it is necessary to put in place measures to further develop, update and take into account this dimension at three levels: teacher training, curricula and text books

Testo completoThis doctoral research examines the learning pathways of students enrolled in two online dis-tance learning programmes of the University of Tours (France) and the University of Cape Town (South Africa) departments of Didactics of French as a Foreign Language (FFL). While learning platforms are regularly studied from an interactionist, cognitivist or socioconstructiv-ist perspective together with questions relating to the learning process and ways to improve the latter, they are rarely considered as spaces imposing a certain vision of higher education. However, they propose a structured architecture in order to favour certain aspects considered important in the teaching-learning process. Seen as metaphors of political or scientific texts, they can be read as an institutional, scientific and didactic project that learners must adopt. In this research and through a reading of Michel de Certeau’s work, we analyse student learning pathways, from the expected or even imposed use of platforms to alternative usage. We ques-tion the reasons for their online presence or absence, highlighting, on the one hand, their dis-cursive contradictions, with which they comply in order to meet the expected platform usage or to be heard, read, recognised by the institution and, on the other hand, their off-platform "learning elsewhere" persona. Some form of online teaching and learning “standard” emerges from their negotiation between what is "imposed" and what the alternative, “re-directed” us-age. This “standard” resembles another one: the language standard. This study has made it clear that the LMS (Learning Management System) architecture reproduces the system to which it belongs thereby prescribing learner homogeneity and consequently side-lining diversi-ty. This study, which is qualitative hermeneutical in nature, was made possible thanks to in-depth interviews with French and international students enrolled in the above-mentioned distance education programmes, ethnographic notes, participant observations and analysis of online interactions. It also draws on discourse analysis to question political and scientific texts

Testo completoIn an attempt to improve the teaching of french in Lebanon, we have tried to analyse the situation of the french language in our country (the origins of the relationship between the lebanese people and the french language, the teaching of this language in Lebanon, the definition of its status) and to carry out an enquiry with the teachers of french to study the conformity of their pedagogical practices to the status of the french language. We refer to the didactics of french as a foreign / secondary language and propose suggestions for a methodological renewal of the teaching of each of the four aptitudes, of the evaluation of the pupils and of teacher training

Testo completoThe didatic dyad is a relation established between a teacher and a single student. In this research, we analyze dyades within a French foreign language course observed in a private training institute. The study is based on a corpus of four sessions with four different adult students. Each student had completed about thirty hours of course work at the time of the recordings. We initially analyze the framework, the scene of the courses and the roles of the actors through the sociology goffmanienne. Indeed these dyadic courses are not conducted in rooms adapted to groups (classes) but in rooms of the size of an office conceived for this relation. Ethnomethodology is used to collect the ethnomethodes implemented by the actors in order to conform to the dyadic situation and to make it function as a didactic situation. Following this first approach to the dyad, the corpus is analyzed using the tools of conversational analysis in order to study the actions of teaching/learning and to see how teacher and student co-build their roles. Lastly, we analyze the phases of variation identified in the interaction. They are periods during which the social character of the student and the theacher appear in the didactic interaction. These periods, which are caused by a too intense cognitive load for the student and the monotony of the rythms of interactions, generate changes in the contents and the management of the interaction, in particular the distribution of the turn taking. Thus, we study the dyadic relation in a complete way from the perspective which includes the management of the relation of the roles and the face of each participant

Testo completoThis research focuses on pedagogical communication via the Internet which took place within the framework of a training course for teachers of French as a Foreign Language during the 2004-2005 academic year. The initial postulate on which this work is based is the following : contrary to traditional distance-learning courses, online courses are supposed to allow the creation of links which partially mitigate physical isolation, these links being both socio-affective and socio-cognitive. In the first case, it is a question of creating a feeling of community and thus of breaking the isolation of the distance-learning student. In the second, it involves improving the quality of learning through interaction between the various members of the group. However if the role of the communication between the members is essential, the computer mediated communication in a pedagogical context doesn't go without saying either for the teacher-tutors, or for the learners. Which discursive practices do the actors implement in this new almost exclusively verbal and written enunciative device which are the fully online trainings ? In order to respond to this general problem, this research questions the types of tasks which create participation and make interactivity between members easier, the editing forms of the online instructions, the different tutoral practices throughout the course and the constitution of an online learning community. The method involves a triangulation of the data and a discourse analysis

Testo completoAt the confluence of language sciences and French as a Foreign Languages (FFL) didactics, this doctoral research focuses on the teaching of grammar and the transposition of a complex but fundamental class of words in French: the verb. We aim at describing and analysing, with a comprehensive and ecological approach, FFL teachers’ grammatical practices struggling with morphological, syntactical, lexical and enunciative characteristics of the verb in French. Our research is based on three FFL teachers working in a university language centre in France. We gathered class observations (levels A2 and B1.1) covering verbal tenses. Beyond the exposition of the teaching framework, the synopsis of the lessons allowed the division of significant extracts which reveal didactic gestures of the teachers and on which they have been invited to put into words through self-confrontation interviews in order to emerge motives of the didactic action and obstacles encountered. After drawing the outline of the verb on a linguistic, acquisitive, and didactic aspects, we will bring to light that the teachers’ grammatical practices come within the scope of a written tradition of morpho-verbal treatment and that the emergence of verbal tenses usage is at the core of a high-risk grammatical practice. Some recommendations for the teaching of the verb in FFL will finally be given

Testo completoThis thesis is the first doctoral research conducted in Kenya on causes of declinein French foreign language learners in high school. It analyzes the context of language learningin Kenya: their origins, their uses, their users and the didactic relations, professional, social, economic and cultural, maintained by Kenya and its neighboring countries. The coexistence oflanguages in Kenya has a variety of uses and importance. French language is part of thismultilingual society and is taught from primary school to higher level of learning. This study highlights the links between the sociolinguistic situation and didactic approachof French language. It shows the origin of French language in this English-speaking country, from the era of slavery and language policy on education in Kenya. It tries to show the image ofFrench in teaching and learning. Attitudes to French language and its image are also discussed.Seven French key officials in Kenya and 64 French teachers were interviewed. 179French learners from high school answered a questionnaire. The questions focused ondiscontinuation of the language and choice to continue the learning of French language at the endof the second year of high school. The results show that several factors are pushing students to drop or otherwise pursue thestudy of French language. First, those who drop out do so because of many subjects taught inhigh school and secondly, those who continue to learn, is because of the love of Frenchlanguage. The study also revealed that although French is not the only foreign language taught inhigh schools in Kenya, it is the most preferred by students from primary school through toinstitutions of higher learning. However, the decrease in the number of French learners was seen to occur a lot in thethird year of high school. The study also showed lack of motivation from French learners insecondary schools, a situation that makes the number decrease from the initial registration; fromform one to form four. The same scenario is noted in regard to French learners in Kenyanuniversities and at Alliances Française in Kenya

Testo completoThis thesis studies the rise and role of representations and hetero-stereotypes in the learning of french as a foreign language in a French-speaking university environment. The work of analysis and synthesis is based on answers to questionnaires submitted to foreign students and to teachers of French as a foreign language, native and non-native. Interviews with foreign students complete the research. The reiterated requests of foreign students concerned knowledge of the socio-cultural aspects of the host country. These requests correspond to their primary demand for communication competence in the host language. This thesis falls within the context of the didactology of languages and cultures and flows from the learning situations in the French as a foreign language teaching area. The thesis then proposes solutions likely to answer the demands formulated by both foreign students and teachers of French as a foreign language

Testo completoThis research focuses on the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching French as a Foreign Language in general and in the initial training of teachers in specific areas. Our work examines the real contribution of the project "le Français en (1ère) Ligne" (F1L) on the training of FFL Master students from the University of Grenoble 3.This project puts them in a situation of active learning where they will be able to develop educational activities and support learners. Our conceptual framework, which is strongly multidisciplinary, draws on theoretical foundations in language teaching, interaction analysis, education science, adult education and learning technology. The overall objective of the research is to better understand the role of an active approach to ICT training for FFL teachers and evaluate the contributions. Our analyses are divided into three points. Firstly, we will examine how students organize themselves to develop online tasks and analyze the activities produced. Secondly we will show how to identify building a pedagogical relationship online and practicing as a tutor. Thirdly, we will determine the role of the associated teacher in training students. To do so, through an ethnographic approach, we collected several types and kinds of data that we crossed to answer our research questions. The results will give us more information on the main objective and will allow us to define the professional skills acquired. This study has two goals: firstly, a descriptive one, analyzing tasks and online interaction to better understand the actions of participants, as well as the relationships they build between themselves and the skills they acquire. Moreover, this thesis has a praxeological aim. The description allows us to produce a model of some of the variables in this project. We point out various factors of efficiency in terms of teacher training in ICT and their use in language teaching. These elements will allow us to implement action research

Testo completoWe cannot train foreign language teachers in the same way as we teach foreign language students. Moreover, we cannot train teachers of a given teaching context in the same way as we train those of another given teaching context because the needs of these teachers are specific to their teaching contexts. Therefore, any research on teacher education must begin by examining the political, sociolinguistics and educational context in which the teachers for whom it is designed practice their profession. If a teacher education program is to adequately meet the needs of a given professional context, it is vital that this context and its specificities be considered during the development of the program. In this research, teacher education for the teachers of FFL in Malaysia is examined in order to analyze the effects of the teacher education programs for FFL proposed in France on the professional lives of the Malaysian teachers. Their representations concerning their training in France and their interpretation of the different concepts of FFL didactics in the Malaysian school context are explored via written questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The findings allow us to both highlight the limitations of FFL teacher education programs offered to Malaysian teachers in France and to suggest ways of improving education programs for Malaysian teachers of French in order to render them more appropriate to the Malaysian context

Testo completoThis thesis, devoted to the teaching and learning of FFL in higher education in Libya, is part of an exploratory and reflective process. The initial field study designed to describe and comprehend the nature of the context, was undertaken in 2013-2014 at Azzaytuna University in Libya. The actors involved include 5 teachers and 14 students of FFL. A political upheaval and the advent of war made it impossible to return to the field. The research was however pursued, with the help of digital tools such as Face Boo,k which enabled the researcher to maintain contract with the phonetics teacher and with the students of the initial group. A complementary needs study was carried out in 2014-2015 by questionnaire made available on-line. The anlayses brought to light several didactic and psychological determining factors. Learner expectations, needs, and difficulties, particularly regarding pronunciation difficulties provided material for reflection on the conception of didactic activities. In the emergency didactic situation, the intervention – at the initiative of the researcher herself - produced a set of pedagogical activities – in the form of videos dealing with specific prononciation difficulties recorded and digitalised on-line – aimed at improving Libyen students’ pronunciation in an aloglot context. The collaboration of the phonetics teacher enabled experimentation of the material in class as well as the videos being made available to all students on You Tube and Face Book. In order to test the efficacy of the material, two distinct methods were used: pre and post -tests were administered before and after the training session and the results sent to the researcher by Viber on the one hand, and on the other, the students’ pronunciation was assessed by Frech-speaking teachers. The results of the analyses and of their assessments show that the material and activities enhanced their pronunciation and contributed to their progress

Testo completoMy work is inspired by the idea of the Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket, 2011) which suggests that "students should have the opportunity to develop the ability of communication skills and comprehension of the language". My thesis begins with a general introduction, continues with an analysis of the educational materials used in the learning of FLE (Français Langue Etrangère) and activities promoting the interaction – reciprocal exchange which can be verbal or nonverbal, to finally ending with a general conclusion. As there is no teaching without appropriate methods, there are textbooks that can be used to facilitate learning through the interaction of the target language. The activities of oral and written communication of a pedagogic nature are essential. Just like it is written in Revue française de pédagogie (1994:133) "The classroom is a complex social system whose parts are in dynamic interaction, actors (teacher and student[s]), situation, material according to social status." In order for me to do my research, I had to focus my attention on the didactic analysis of the textbooks that I have been enabled to consult. It is two supporting textbooks: Mais oui 3 and Escalade Littéraire. Regarding the analysis of educational materials which encourage to interact, these two textbooks offer exercises of reflection depending on the level of the learner. In my work, I focus on the didactical and the linguistic skills of these two textbooks.

Testo completoPrivate tuition in a foreign language that takes place within an institutional setting constitutes the ultimate case of a language class. One of its de facto characteristics is its focus on the learner, his or her experience, immediate and medium term needs, which entail maximum interaction with the teacher. Free from the traditional constraints of having to implement a lesson plan and evaluate it, another specific feature of this type of class is that the dominant communication mode is of an “exolingual” nature, which involves “conversing” (between teacher and learner) interspaced with teaching phases. Direct experience and self-observation show that these phases do not necessarily cause communication breakdown because of their conformity to the terms of the teaching contract between the participants. Besides, in this specific context, the status of the learners as client allows him/her to jointly manage the conduct of the learning more than in other class groups. An ethnographic approach has therefore been undertaken in order to make explicit the institutional underpinning and its influences on the everyday conduct of the face-to-face classroom interaction. In addition, interaction analysis applied to the corpus will help to highlight the specificity of the exchanges as mentioned above. In conclusion, a (principled) teaching approach will be suggested, taking into account the importance of the linguistic and cultural environment, within the present concerns of the (European) “actional” framework

Our hypothesis is that grammar teaching pedagogy would be more efficient if it were based on the principles of psychology of learning. Therefore we studied how grammar is taught presently in four French departments, investigated for psychology of learning principles needed trough the literature of that science, proposed some means which can help us to improve the pedagogy of French grammar in West Africa

Testo completoThis research work has as its main objective to show the potential of interactive functional images on educational websites on the Internet, aiming at a didactic use in the foreign language classroom, especially in FLE (Français Langue Étrangère). The fundamental hypothesis at the heart of our analysis is that the languages of computers allow students to have an interaction with images, text, and sound very different from that which they had with analog images found in print and video materials. In order to validate this hypothesis, we analyzed different educational websites, getting inspiration from works dealing with educational semiotics and foreign language pedagogy. This analysis, which we shall call “semiodidactic”, is applied to a corpus made up of 70 educational free-access websites on the Internet that reflect a given pedagogical practice during the 2001-2003 period. The criteria used in choosing these websites have to do with teaching methodology (interest in terms of learning), aesthetics (are the images attractive and as such able to motivate the students?), and information technology (the interactive character of the images, allowing the students to be more active). The study of different educational scenarios, where the image plays a privileged role, allowed us to identify recurrent actions of the interactive image as well as plastic properties of such image. In this analysis it becomes especially noteworthy that the type of discourse of the multimedia material, especially through information technology metaphors such as icons, can provide the student with roles through which they become reader, actor and even narrator. The research has shown that the interactive functional image can have the same functions already inventoried by researchers previously (Tardy, Masselot-Girard, Levin). What is novel for students from the perspective of learning is the fact that they can themselves manipulate the image, transform it, take part in its construction, and its underlying narration. This gives rise to a new function of the image in the digital environment: the narrative function
Pesty, Marion. "Acquisition d'une langue étrangère et didactique de la phonétique anglaise en France". Thesis, Orléans, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019ORLE3016.
Testo completoNumerous studies have shown that French learners of English as a Second Language have difficulties acquiring a good pronunciation of English. Their mastery of English segments and prosody is most of the time fragile, despite an early learning of the language, as in France, pupils start to learn English in CP (by the age of 5). This poor level in oral English is all the more surprising given that the French Ministry of Education made it a priority to emphasize the teaching of spoken English in class as soon as pupils start to learn the language at school. Literature and a survey that we conducted suggest that this poor level could be due to the way English is taught in classes, as it is claimed that the teaching of pronunciation in ESL classes is regularly neglected by teachers, who would lack professional training to be able to teach pronunciation properly. This way, in this thesis, we conducted experimental research, and our objective was to see if it was possible or not to integrate the teaching of English pronunciation in ESL classes in a productive manner, that would be beneficial for both the learners and the teacher. To do so, two classes of seconde from the city of Orléans (France) were selected. One of them received enhanced training in phonetics to improve their pronunciation of English during 10 weeks (1 hour per week), and the other class did not. Three evaluation sessions were organized during the duration of the experiment (a total of 22 weeks), and made it possible to check if the pupils had improved their pronunciation of English during the experiment, and to check the efficacy of the specific training that wa had proposed. Results suggest that the trained pupils managed to improve their pronunciation of English more than those who were not trained

Testo completoThis research explores the literary corpora used in the context of the teaching of French as a foreign language from the point of view of formats and variation in text scales. The primacy of complete work and the condemnation of the chosen text extracts are analysed through a historical approach that sheds lights on the instability of the values given to the extract or long reading in the context of teaching. The analysis of out of context2French editorial corpora highlights that formats come from a dual heritage: chosen excerpts and authentic documents. Extraction obeys two matrices, classicisation, which responds to acceptability constraints, and standardisation, which responds to accessibility constraints. Extraction follows a double continuum organised around two axes, identity/transformation, and opacity/transparency. The link to the work is mostly forgotten. The corpora produced by teachers, once contextualised, present more flexible, idiosyncratic features, taking into account the scales of texts and their reception. Through a comparative study, we observe the effects of text formats on their reception by allophone readers: text extracts enable a restitution of the microstructural scale, integral readings without support create a partial reading with recomposition of the macrostructure and adapted readings allow a fictional immersion that plays all the scales of the reader. We offer, for the training of future teachers, didactics of the variation of scales that take into account the effects of formats on the reception of texts by learners

Testo completoThe acquisition of a foreign language at an advanced level requires the control of a complex syntax. Can the teaching of advanced writing, be based on a linguistic ground, with taking in the same time into consideration the cerebral function of learning adult? What can we learn about the way that syntactic complexity is built by analyzing written productions? How can we deal with any difficulties that may rise? By trying to solve those problems, this thesis claims at the same time to the didactics and to the linguistics: the linguistics sets the framework of analysis for the syntactical contents of the sentences, while the didactics defines the choice, the objective of the phenomena analysis and the way of treating them, to facilitate a learning which allows the teacher and the learner to get closer, to make a commitment, to get involved

Testo completoThis thesis, entitled: ‘‘French as a writing academic language in Algeria. Contrastive study between scientific fields and humanities’’addresses the issue of teaching and/or learning foreign languages in Algeria through the characteristics of scientific genre. The aim of this research is to discover if genre retains its stability in the academic writing when it is a question of practice of a foreign language, as well as French. The French language does not exist for itself. It is the language of studying at the Algerian university, and poses, among other factors, an obstacle to success. Based on a heterogeneous corpus which is made up of twelve dissertations presented in Algeria, we would like to contrast, among these writings, the writing of the human and social sciences with the writing of the hard and natural sciences.Adopting an automatic language processing through the software Hyperbase is necessary because the corpus is very large. This tool continues to develop new techniques for scientific research. Also, in order to acquaint ourselves with the context of using French language in Algeria, we conducted a questionnaire survey with Algerian students and teachers at the university. The main result obtained from this research shows that genre is always dominant even in a specific context like the use of a foreign language

Testo completoThe present work aims at analysing and showing how a song, in all its linguistic, musical and sociocultural richness, can become a real tool of learning. First of all, the current situation of the teaching of French as a foreign language (FLE) has been studied, that reveals the use of the songs being limited to their grammar and vocabulary. Its analysis brings to the forefront the insufficient use of French songs in their entirety:aesthetic and artistic aspects being the less addressed aspects. In order to address this situation, the focus has been put on studying the theoretical notions in the domain of teaching of oral, music and particularly, songs. These notions are furthermore analyzed in the light of teaching/learning of a language to study the interdisciplinary concepts such as music, emotion, pleasure, aesthetic reception and experience, motivation, culture, songs, oral, etc. This research aims at identifying what is lacking and needed, with the help of pre-survey and interviews conducted in different institutes of New Delhi. Last but not the least, an art based project has been suggested to the native Hindi speakers studying in the 3rd year of FLE. This project highlights the advantages of the cross-sectional study referring to the important role of songs on the cognitive, emotional and sociocultural development. The playful side of learning through songs arouses aesthetic pleasure and new desire to express oneself in a language. This thesis not only concerns more than 300,000 Indians students of FLE but also relates to the fields of didactics, neurosciences, psychology, interculturality, linguistics and musicology. The suggestions developed here in this project apply equally to other languages as well

Testo completoThis study aims to define the competence of interaction constituting the main object of oral evaluation in foreign language pedagogy. We consider that this competence consists in the ability to interact with an interlocutor in order to implement multiple resources with the aim of collectively managing speech activity adapted to action in a given situation. Using an analytical and comprehensive empirical approach, we describe how the competence of interaction manifests itself in a situation of evaluation. It takes the form of four components: firstly, the ability to interpret one’s role in a given context in order to participate in the global organization of interaction ; it also manifests itself in the coordination of turn-taking ; in the shared responsibility of the co-construction of the theme of the discourse; and finally in the use of communication strategies to solve language and interactional problems that arise. The analyses enable us to elucidate the pedagogical issues concerning the way to evaluate this competence. Four essential elements can be identified in the composition of the system of evaluation : the script, the type of preparation, the conditions in which it is implemented and the grading scale. The evaluation is not limited to a carefully worked out method ; it also entails the way it is carried out in a specific context. There exists a “contract of evaluation” which regulates the organisation of this activity and defines the rights and duties of the evaluator and the candidate. According to this contract, the evaluator must assume the roles of facilitator, examiner, interlocutor and guide, which constitutes a real challenge in language evaluation and opens up orientations for future research

Testo completoWhereas picture has long proved useful in the teaching of foreign languages, which has strongly benefited from the improvement of image technologies (from slides to video tapes, tv-films, CD Rom’s and DVD’s), media and real cinema are still seldom used in the teaching of French as a Foreign Language in Taiwan, and only appear in the academic studies of the classical nouvels or short stories which have been adapted as movies. Our aim is to show that French cinema can be used as a central and foundational tool in a new way of teaching French language and culture. French cinema, considered as an original cultural entity, leads to a specific method to bring foreign students to a sound working knowledge of french language, and we believe that this method provides newer material in the field of educational sciences. We discuss image – film – in all its cultural aspects and its relations to language. We emphasize that image can be extremely rich in meaning, sense, and civilization, and that academic education cannont reduce it to a mere entertaining illustration. Lastly, we analyse the influence of this cinema – based educational method – after a thirty days’ experiment in teaching French language and culture in a Taiwanese university
