Testo completoResearch on linguistic borrowing has long been dominated, in France as elsewhere, by the synchronic sociolinguistics paradigm in which it has taken shape, but has recently made significant progress, notably thanks to the promising results obtained by works combining the synchronic methods of sociolinguistics with a meticulous historical-philological approach, observant of both internal and external factors at play in a language contact situation. It is precisely along the lines of these works that our research aims to follow. The current state of knowledge on French culinary Italianisms would greatly benefit from such an in-depth study, since the lexicographical description of these lexical units is still mostly limited to etymological considerations. Our work aims at completing the description of language, as it is represented in lexicography, with the observation of its use in discourse(s), by exploiting the richness of textual databases, which make it now possible to trace more faithfully, and more easily, the evolution of language in time and space, and thereby to provide a better lexicographical description

Testo completoThis text is an analysis of the progessive disappear terms of French origin in Neapolitan dialect . It is a linguistic phenomenon that in recent times there has been more intensively. The research is divided into five chapters in which they are analyzed the texts of traditional and neomelodic Neapolitan music. The basic thesis is that the Neapolitan dialect, over time, has seen an increasing reduction of terms of French origin: the music of the neomelodic singers of latest generation has little in common with the nineteenth century Neapolitan dialect. It is characterized by an essential language, where the phonetic element prevails over the graphic form. The sound is more important than the written word. The Neapolitan dialect, used in music, has been increasingly influenced by the Anglo-Saxon spoken

Testo completoThis ph. D. Thesis aims at analysing linguistic exchanges -essentially lexicalbetween french and turkish, which have occured since the encounter of the two civilisations in the xvith century. Loanwords from french into turkish as is underlined in this thesis, stretch on a long period. The longlasting phenomenon has been large scale (4 231 items), permanent and it has resisted the onslaugt of time as well as the english language. On the other hand, french loanwords embody a modest contribution in term of numbers (66 words in actual french), they are quite ancient (xvith-xixth century) and without any predictible perspective of evolution. After a long historical study of the loan phenomenon in the first part, a global analysis on the linguistic level has been realised. The second part, devoted to the interferences property speaking, exposes specific problems of survey methods which allowed the constitution and classification of the corpus and data, and examines the different forms of loan-integration in turkish : graphical, phonetical, morpho-syntaxical and semantical alterations

Testo completoThis is a relatively detailed study of linguistic changes which have affected and are still affecting morocan arabic in a rather complex sociolinguistic environment. This work has two objectives : - first, it is a contribution to the theory of language mixing, and is designed to be intelligible to linguists interested in this field even if they have no background in the languages dealt with here - second, it is a contribution to arabic dialect studies in general and to studies of moroccan dialects in particular

Testo completoThe main objective of this thesis is to understand the phenomenon of loanwords and their phonological adaptations. The research was based on consulting the Brazilian newspaper of the nineteenth century 'A Gazetinha', whose use of French words is common. Thus, we start with a written corpus, which makes us think about the role of orthography in loanword adaptations. After our research in the literature about loanwords, we focused on two aspects: the phonological adaptation of French words in Portuguese and the link between etymology and loanwords. This work contributes to the description of the Portuguese lexicon and its phonology from the process of adaptation of French loans. In addition, we contribute to the description of Portuguese vocabulary from their etymological dictionaries and monolingual. Our assumptions are that the orthography and knowledge of French play a role in the adaptation process; Portuguese and Brazilian speakers may show differences to adapt the French words; European and Brazilian vocabulary may show differences related with words of French origin. Our methodology for assessing the phonological adaptation involves the application of a test based on the article The influence of orthography on loanwords adaptations of Vendelin & Peperkamp (2006). The test has been adapted to our subject and applied to Brazilian and Portuguese speakers to compare the results. We analyze six French phonemes in this work. The test results on phonological adaptations show that there is no difference in choice of adaptation between European and Brazilian speakers at the phonological level. Adaptations are always to the target language, Portuguese. However, orthography and knowledge of French appear to be related and active factors in the process when the speaker is needed. The subtle differences in adaptation are only on the phonetic level, obeying the phenomena of Portuguese.Concerning the second aspect studied- the relation between etymology and loanwords-, we use as a research method the consultation of etymological and monolingual dictionaries of Portuguese to establish a framework for discussion comparing their information about the origins of words. After a data analysis, we verify that the information is quite contrasting, which prevents easy reading to any reader, not just to linguists. Our conclusion is that dictionaries are not a source of research with compelling information and other studies and discussions are still needed

Testo completoThe object of this dissertation is to illustrate a sociolinguistic viewpoint on foreign loanwords. As opposed to common conceptions of lexical borrowing according to which this process plays only a secondary role, this contribution aims at showing a different functioning of loanwords within the borrowing language. We shall try to prove the linguistic value of use of french words in english to be secondary to their sociolinguistic exchange value, their denotations secondary to their autonymic connotations, and their referential function secondary to their expressive, metalinguistic or poetic functions. The autonymic value and secondary communicative functions of french loanwords in english outline a differentiation of social groups as well as speakers based on the sociolinguistic prestige of those foreign signs
