Testo completoIn order to face the increased market competition, SMEs are joining collaborative innovation networks (CINs). In fact, these sturcutres enable them access to complementary knowledge that is necessary to conduct their innovation projects. The contribution of an SME to such a network requires an absorption of the knowledge brought by the other participants and eventually of knowledge external to the constituted network. The aim of this thesis is to develop a maturity tool to assess the absorptive capacity of SMEs operating in such contexts. This evaluation will help them contribute effectively to the project and foster the innovation success of this latter. It will also guide them towards the best practices to capitalize on their experiences within these networks and hence improve the performance of their own organizationsA mixed method has been adopted for the development of this tool. A first qualitative phase enabled the identification of absorption practices for an SME embedded in a CIN. This phase is mainly composed of an in-depth literature review, 20 semi-directive interviews with 13 SMEs in the Rhône-Alpes region of France and the Yorkshire region in the UK and two working sessions with expert researchers and practitioners. A second quantitative phase aimed at evaluating the relevance of these practices for each possible situation of an SME's participation in a CIN. To this end, a survey questionnaire was first tested with 2 practitioners and 2 researchers and then administered to a sample of SMEs who had operated in similar contexts. The collected data was analyzed according to a PLS-SEM approach and enabled formulating a prediction equation for each absorption practice, according to the context of the SME's participation within the network. The practices resulting from the qualitative phase combined with the formulas steming from the quantitative one were then operationalized through a maturity grid. The latter will be iteratively improved through successive applications with SMEs embedded in CINs.This thesis implies contributions at several levels. From a theoretical point of view, it confirms the prominence for innovation of the concept of absorptive capacity, through its characterization for the context of an SME embedded in a CIN. From a practical point of view, the implementation of this characterization through a tool for the use of SMEs helps them foster the success of their experiences within such networks. Finally, from a methodological point of view, the adoption of a quantitative approach to contextualize a maturity grid is a novel methodology in the development stream of such performance improvement tools

Testo completoThe acceleration and intensive adoption of technological innovations have changed people's behavior. Consumer’ daily activities have now fully integrated digital technologies. Thus, Markets have also been swept away by this wave of change.Organizations from all industries are changing their business models to move toward the development of digital offers. Meanwhile, the market has become more volatile because of new disruptive actors that provide digital services, are more flexible and can put any actor in danger. To face these new challenges, organizations are implementing digital transformation programs. They have the ambitions of changing the way of developing and providing goods & services, and transforming internal structure to make the organization more competitive, while enhancing people's working conditions. The objectives of this research are to demonstrate the role of intellectual capital (all intangible assets of an organization) in the organization’s digital transformation, and to identify in which extent it could contribute to the assessment of an organization’s digital transformation maturity. The research unfolds in two phases. The first phase, descriptive, allows to through an exploratory study, to describe the fundamental role of intellectual capital in the digital transformation of organizations. The second phase, prescriptive, describe the proposition of a digital transformation maturity mode, enriched by the results of the previous study and applied in a company. This research has multiple contributions. First, it strengthens to the existing literature on digital transformation, which is currently limited and not studied via the transformation of intellectual capital. Then, this research uses several research methods such as systematic literature review, a qualitative study and the design of a maturity model. Finally, it provides solutions to practitioners regarding issues shared by most of firms around the world

Testo completoNumerous obstacles hinder the emergence of new medical technologies stemming from research. One of the primary challenges in technology transfer is the time and effort required to comply with regulations. In this context, evaluating the maturity of medical technologies becomes essential, but it poses a significant challenge. Methods for assessing technological maturity are approaches used to evaluate the development and reliability level of specific technologies. In the field of information systems, these methods are commonly employed to assess the maturity of technological infrastructures, software, and IT processes. They identify the strengths and weaknesses of a technology, guide investment decisions, and optimize development processes for efficient utilization of these technologies in their intended contexts. However, using existing maturity assessment methods during the research phase is not suitable or feasible due to their restrictive nature. The objective of this thesis is to demonstrate a non-binding approach to implement and measure technological maturity during the research phase of software-driven medical technologies (SdMT).To achieve this goal, our work provides the necessary foundations for constructing a maturity model. The model aims to enable quantitative and objective evaluation of the readiness level of an SdMT at a given point in time, regarding its potential for transfer. This transfer could involve collaborative research projects, progressing towards clinical trials, or entering into a regulated process. The proposed model can provide insights into the necessary actions to enhance the maturity level. The work conducted in this thesis offers a solid foundation, including a model of artifacts based on ISO/IEC 62304 standard, an evaluation questionnaire called SMAQ (SdMT Maturity Assessment Questionnaire), and a maturity score. The validity of the SMAQ has been demonstrated through a survey conducted among domain experts, resulting in a consolidated version of the questionnaire.Based on the obtained results, it has been possible to define initial elements of a maturity model, such as maturity levels, the path towards the highest maturity level, and the maturity assessment questions. The dimensions and sub-categories of the maturity model will be further defined in future work
Guedria, Wided. "A contribution to enterprise interoperability maturity assessment". Thesis, Bordeaux 1, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012BOR14552/document.
Testo completoThis work fits within the framework of the general problematic of the enterprise interoperability development. Many models, methods, methodologies and tools exist to help an organization, an enterprise, or more generally a system, to develop interoperability with its partners. However, most of existing works in this domain have been done to develop operational solutions to solve interoperability problems. Basic and fundamental researches, allowing characterizing and measuring the potential of an enterprise to interoperate, are still missing. In particular, this thesis deals with the definition of metrics for evaluating enterprise interoperability. By focusing specifically on interoperability maturity, a Maturity Model for Enterprise Interoperability (MMEI) is elaborated. The proposed MMEI is based on existing relevant maturity models and extends existing works to cover all main aspects and dimensions of enterprise interoperability. Possible contribution from existing scientific theories, in particular General System Theory considered as most relevant, are investigated and core concepts are brought into MMEI. An ontology of enterprise interoperability is also proposed to formalize basic concepts of enterprise interoperability. Based on this ontology, the MMEI has been, thereafter, developed

Testo completoIn Europe, fish stock management and assessment rely on data collected yearly during scientific campaigns. One biological parameter that is assessed is the sexual maturity phase, used to estimate the portion of spawning capable indivudals. This parameter is used in the computation of indexes such as the length or age at which 50% of the population has reached sexual maturity (L50 or A50), indexes used to set up indicators such as the Spawning Stock Biomass (SSB), the Spawning Potential Ratio (SPR) or the Minimul Legal Length (MLL). Classically, maturity phase determination is based on the visual observation of macroscopic criteria such as the general aspect of the gonad, its color and its texture, making the assessment subjective and error-prone. This PhD suggests an approach to determine accurately sexual maturity in females, while relying on objective criteria and quantifiable histological ovarian structures and using machine learning to facilitate sample analysis from offshore beam trawl surveys.Multiple species of commercial interest were studied : the plaice (Pleuronectess platessa), the striped red mullet (Mullus surmuletus), the megrim (Lepidorhombus whiffiagonis) and the four spot megrim (Lepidorhombus boscii). The first objective was to clarify cellular oogenesis descriptions for these species possessing little data and produce descriptive lexicons of their respective ovarian histology. Secondly, a seterological study allowed for the quantification of cellular structures found within the female gonad to determine a maturity phase. The reliability and reproducibility of these stereological readings was proven through multi-agent calibrations, but also through the sampling of sections at different levels of both ovaries. This method allowed for a monitoring of the oogenesis cycle of these species for a year and highlighted the difficulty of estimating without bias the maturity phase of individuals outside of the spawning period. The L50 and A50 in stereology were estimated and compared with values obtained through the more classical method by observing macroscopic criteria. For P. platessa : L50 stereo = 20.6 cm and A50 stereo = 1.3 yo against the literature with L50 macros = 20.9 cm and A50 macros = 3 yo. M. surmuletus : L50 stereo = 22.9 cm and A50 stéréo = 1.5 yo against the literature with L50 macros = 16.9 cm and A50 macros = 1 yo. L. whiffiagonis : L50 stereo = 20 cm and A50 stereo = 2.1 yo against the literature with L50 macros = 24 cm and A50 macros = 2 yo.Though stereological analysis was proven reliable when estimating sexual maturity during spawning periods, the counting of the histological structures isn’t easily implemented in the framework of regular monitorings. This is why the data acquired during this PhD was implemented into a deep learning algorithm to automate cellular identifications, yielding 77% of agreement for the maturity phase with stereology.Estimating a reliable maturity phase of individuals allows for a short term monitoring of populations in their environment. In the long term, this data will also be useful to evaluate / describe the impact of various pressures on these same populations with the aim to set sustainable regulations for exploited stock species

Testo completoGenerated by the deep impact of the Shoah or genocide, the Jewish contemporary Italian writer Giorgio Bassani’s works, known under the titles of Il romanzo di Ferrara ( narrative production ) and In rima e senza ( poetical production ), are the point of elaboration of a memorial saga in which history and memory, autobiography and historical inspiration balance. The search of significant indications of a character and psychological individual evolution is made through fantasmatical partial autobiographical projections on screen-protagonists who become progressively hypostatical to the explicit identification of the narrator and the author, confirmed by the autobiographical pact. The macrocosmic nazi-fascist antisemitic persecution outlook, centered on the microcosmic prism of the Jewish community of Ferrara, divulges the narrator-author's evolution towards a maturity in fact conflictual. The commemorative passion of the tragedy of the holocaust ends in the dawn of a shrouded Jewish identity that correspond to a stopped chronology at the level of the author's literary consciousness. Out of the prospect of the Shoah, this creative cycle concludes with an involution

Testo completoThis thesis consists of three essays aims to examine the determinants of corporate debt maturity. The first essay examines the link between ownership structure and debt maturity using a sample of French companies. Our results show that the monitoring by short-term debt can, to a certain extent, to be a substitute for traditional governance mechanisms such as ownership structure. The second essay examines the relation between financial reporting quality and debt maturity using a sample of European companies. We study specifically the effect of earnings management on debt maturity. We find that firms with high earnings management activities are associated with less long-term debt. In additional analysis, we observe that the negative link between earnings management and long-term debt holds only in code law countries. Finally, the third essay analyzes in the French context of joint audit, whether the presence of reputable auditors is associated with debt maturity. The study shows that appointing Big 4 auditors is positively associated with long term debt

Testo completoThis thesis aims at highlighting the ethical, metaphysical and aesthetic questions that arise in the mature works of the Austrian author Hugo von Hofmannsthal. After having dealt with Hofmannsthal's original dilemma between opposing conceptions of the world and of his own existence, this work considers the two versions of The Woman without a Shadow. This opus is the first expression at maturity of his aesthetic whose underlying metaphysical foundation it enlightens. The experience of First World War, subject of our third chapter, compelled Hofmannsthal to widen the scope of his thoughts. His later plays illustrate which ethical conducts should rule individuals in a given society as well as between the peoples in Europe. The Salzburg Great World Theaterwhich is the focus of our fourth chapter, sets the pattern of his social ethics inspired by the principles of the social doctrine of the Church. As for The Tower, a tragedy which we will deeply analyse in our fifth chapter, it sketches his ethics for political action. The purpose of this play is indeed to advocate peace in Europe while helping nations to achieve higher standard of Humanity

Testo completoProgress in sensors technology provides new applications in agriculture. We have noticed that the pictures of red fluorescence of apples show some non eye-visible spots. The quantity of these spots increases with the maturity of the fruit. These spots seem related to the maturity state. Considering this observation, we have developed a method allowing to detect and to quantify these spots automatically. The pictures of apples studied in this work, present a strong gradient of grey levels due to the spherical shape of the fruits. The spots that we have to detect and to quantify appear more or less intense following their position in the picture. This fact and the presence of noise in the picture make the detection of the spots difficult and need the development of adapted algorithms of segmentation in order to get a good detection of the spots. We present a technique that associates two approaches: the watershed, which provides a first segmentation. The second approach consists in associating to this first step of segmentation, a multi scale analysis using the notion of pyramid of adjacency graphs, allowing refining the result provided by the watershed, by doing an intelligent merging of the regions. We have pushed away this step by integrating in the process of merging, a semantic analysis of the obtained segmentations at each level of the pyramid. This analysis is done with the help of an algorithm that verify the arc consistency of a semantic graph describing the object that we look for

Testo completoOne of the major difficulties involved in marketing fresh mango is to manage its quality. Mango quality includes several attributes such as size, total soluble solids content, acidity and color, all of which vary with growing conditions and during ripening. The aim of this thesis is to determine the impact of growing conditions on fruit quality and ripening through experimental and modeling approaches.Experimental studies have revealed that size, dry mass and maturity vary considerably between mangoes according to their position in the tree and fruit load. Measurements suggest that fruit growth is affected by the embolization of sap-conducting vessels. In addition to differences measured between mangoes, our results showed that quality attributes vary within fruits in relation to the maturity gradient.A physical model showed that climatic variations within the tree caused substantial temperature gradients within mangoes that change with the fruit position in the tree. These simulations revealed that quality differences within mangoes are not related to the temperature gradient, except for fruit color. Use of a model that simulates the biosynthetic pathway of ethylene indicated that maturity differences between mangoes are explained by differences in carbon supply and, to a much lesser extent, to differences in temperature. The integration of experimental results into a growth model revealed that the embolization of sap-conducting vessels caused the slowdown of fruit enlargement. Lastly, when all of these models were coupled to a model that simulates fruit growth in dry mass, it was demonstrated that variations in size, dry matter content and maturity between mangoes were caused by differences in fruit load, flowering time, fruit dry mass at the end of cell division and transpiration, rather than by differences in temperature. The multidisciplinary approach developed made it possible to better understand the processes involved in fruit quality and ripening and to open new areas of research

Testo completoThe bank is a front-line sector of digital transformation and ranks 4th in the most digitally-transformed sectors behind IT, media and professional services (Gandhi & al, 2016). In addition, the burst of data and the need for real-time processing is a challenge for the players to meet or anticipate the needs of customers. In this way, the digital transformation of banks is emblematic of the opportunities and risks of our digital society.Studies tend to demonstrate that digital performance reflects the company's economic performance (Accenture, 2016b). It is therefore all the more important to carry out its digital transformation in order to remain or become a performing bank, especially since the average mortality of multinationals is only 40 years (Schatt, 2014).The question is where are the banks going to be in the value chain: continuing vertical integration or horizontal integration to diversify, buy or make partnerships with technological players or fintech? The prerequisite may lie in the knowledge of their current digital maturity. The model developed in this thesis makes it possible to highlight the strengths of a banking player and its perfectible points likely to feed the transformation strategy for its leaders and the related priorities. The starting point is the methodology of measuring digital maturity of any kind of organization (Fayon, Tartar, 2014) that has been challenged as part of this thesis work. Its axes, which define digital maturity, have evolved and are there to number six: Organization, Technology and Innovation, People, Offer, Environment, Strategy. The reflection has been focused on the structuring trends of digital transformation, and a focus on the case of the banking sector. She has been nourished by academic work related to the paradigm shift brought by digital technologies and those related to organizational design among others. Two surveys (one on the bank of the future, the other on the expectations of the generations in terms of banking service) and a PoC realized as part of the contactless payment on smartphone at La Poste french company have fueled the reflection to enrich our initial model of measuring digital maturity. To build the model, we have chosen to rely primarily on existing work in both areas at the heart of digital transformation, on the one hand information systems where many methodological tools have been developed (CMMI, ITIL, CobiT, etc.) and secondly marketing. Each of the indicators of the initial model was challenged by relying on the literature in the field as well as on a body of data developed for this thesis work. The scope of this measure is of two kinds. The result can make it possible for the decision makers who seize it - typically the actors of the digital transformation (Executive Committee, CDO, CTO, CMO) – feed the digital transformation strategy of the considered actor (thanks to the calculation of the maturity of the 6 levers and globally of the bank to highlight its strengths and its weaknesses, it is then necessary to exploit them in the service of its strategy). But this measure can also have a performative scope. It allows, as for all devices measuring tools, to give an "objectivized" but also "objectifying" level reached by each of the indicators and therefore accompany a reflexive process of digital transformation.A number of limitations are inherent to this thesis work in its instrumental dimension in particular. The internal coherence of the model, although tested by different analytical approaches and tests, is not exempt, by construction, from an arbitrary part. The relevance of the model, even if it has been tested partly with some business cases, remains subject to the test of generalization. In addition, the evolving nature of digital technologies and associated societal changes may make some indicators less relevant. But the performative dimension of the model could then remain

Testo completoThis work adresses two important strategies concerning many to-day firms about outsourcing. Obviously it is not only firms to be interested but also States, people, and the xhole society. This problematic deserves to analyze the main components: history, politics, economic, laws, operational, marketing, accounting and finance, strategic, benchmarketing, information systems, and so on. This is what we try to enlight. Then, we shall be interested to value firms that are interested to change to outsourcing. Next, we shall study the problem of firm valuation in the context of outsourcing of activities, from the standard recent models till new models of LECOINTRE and the EVaLUCE model which will be adaptated to take into account new externalyzed situations. Finally we have set up an inquiry to know how CEO, or managers consider the problem of decentralisation. Our results show a relative bad knowledge of the decentralization processes and a strong need to receive help from State or other Institution

Testo completoBiometric systems are increasingly used to verify or identify the identity of an individual. Given the challenges related to their use, mainly for e-commerce applications or physical access control (border control), it is important to have an evaluation methodology of such systems. The problematic addressed in this thesis is the design of a modality-independent evaluation methodology of biometric systems. The challenges are many such as the comparison of biometric systems for a particular application, the evaluation of an algorithm during its development or in setting its optimal parameters. We propose in this thesis a quality assessment method of biometric raw data. The proposed method has the advantage of being independent from the biometric modality, and the used verification system. Five public databases are used to validate the proposed method. We have also developed two evaluation methods related to the usability and the security aspects of a biometric system. The first consists of measuring users' acceptance and satisfaction when using biometric systems. The second consists of measuring the system (architecture and algorithms) robustness against attacks. The two presented methods have the advantage of being modality-independent. Three biometric authentication systems are used to show the benefits of both methods

Testo completoInnovation represents a vital process for companies to insure their development. Several actions and new strategies are implemented by companies to increase their performances and so face market requirements. A good knowledge of both the innovation process and the company organization is necessary to allow the top management to manage them effectively and to adapt them to the challenges and the changes in their environment. Consequently, it is important for the companies to have tools and methods to measure continuously their innovation activities. The objective of our research is to suggest a framework to measure innovation capacities of companies based on a set of fifteen innovation practices, each practice is subdivided into several criteria which are directly observable phenomena in company. The methodological approach is based on the multicriteria aggregation method and the use of statistical notion of value-test to propose a typology of innovative companies of four classes (proactive, preactive, reactive and passive). An experimental study was led on a sample group of twenty French industrial companies. A software implementing our methodological proposition was developed. It allows to analyze and to estimate the innovative processes of a set of companies, to allocate them to a class and to give them recommendations for the relevant actions to follow to increase their innovation potential. This research proposes an effective decision-aid tool that helps in the innovation management

Testo completoIn the 2000s, aromas of dried fruits, referring to prune, fig or cooked peach are found more and more often in Bordeaux red wines. The markers responsible for these aromas related to the grape maturity are unknown. Firstly, we show that these shades, which were rarely encountered in wines from an appellation named A in this study, are now part of the distinctive aromas of these wines. However, the tasters that assimilate these characteristics to the distinctive aromas and the type of the appellation tend to get mistaken between the cooked fruit aromas from young wines and the ones from the oxidized character of prematurely aged wines. The GC-O, GC-MS and GC-GC-MS analysis of musts and wines, that had shades of cooked fruits aromas, allowed to confirm the realness of a scented area reminding of the scent of the samples. The analysis by GC-MS of number of must and wine samples show that the furaneol (caramel), the γ-nonalactone (coconut, cooked peach), the (Z)-1,5-octadien-3-one (geranium) take part in this aroma. We also reveal the presence of a lactone type compound having a cooked fruit aroma, but not identified so far. The influence of the (Z)-1,5-octadien-3-one has been identified for the first time in musts. The influence of the harvest date of Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon grapes on the aromas and fine composition of musts and wines is also specified. Winemaking processing of grapes that have been late harvested, even with a withered appearance produces wines with shades of cooked fruits aromas and high content of furaneol and γ-nonalactone

Testo completoGiacinto Scelsi’s composing production is marked by a break that occurs in 1952, following a serious psychological crisis. The compositions that follow this date are characterized by the search for a new conception of sound and of composition that redefines an aesthetic considerably contrasting to the “dictat” of the serial and post-serial orientations of this period. This thesis analyses the specific context inside which Scelsi begins his activity as a composer, his influences, not only musical but also philosophical and religious, that define the fundamental traits of his approach to composition. Indeed, since Quattro pezzi su una sola nota in 1959, Scelsi subsequently develops a sound concentration based on the idea of a singular sound, characterized by a “profondeur” (depth) and by a much dilated time dimension. Though musicological literature and musical critique, especially within the mass press, have considered these anomalies in the scelsian praxis as fully independent from the historical context and by consequence have drawn the Scelsi persona as an “isolated monad”, it is henceforth necessary to address the study of the composer’s production in relation to the postwar avant-garde. This “demystification” of Scelsi’s personality brings about a real comprehension of his links, his exchanges and his direct and indirect contacts with the avant-garde, by underlining a double perspective that puts him outside the historical organization of the latter and inside an aesthetical revival, the consequences of which are still in full development

Testo completoAnalytical methods for the detection and quantification of wines aroma typically utilise HPLC-MS or GC-MS. The methods require some isolation and concentration step preceding the analysis. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) are becoming either alternative complementary analytical tools to conventional methods because of their rapidity, sensitivity, selectivity, and low cost. In this Thesis, the applicability of ELISAs for detection and quantification of precursors of volatile thiols and alkylmethoxypyrazines, which have been isolated from wines, made from Cabernet Sauvignon or Sauvignon Blanc, are described

Testo completoSoftware process capability maturity (SPCM) models are currently widely used in industry. To perform the practices defined in these models, software engineering approaches are applied. We also have experienced a large definition of methods, techniques, patterns, and standards for the analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation of interactive systems focusing on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) issues. Nevertheless, it is well known that HCI approaches are not largely used in industry. In order to take advantage of the widespread use of SPCM models, this thesis proposes to integrate HCI issues (concepts of design, implementation, and evaluation of interactive systems) in the most known international SPCM model (CMMI-DEV – Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development) and in the Brazilian SPCM model (MR-MPS-SW – MPS for Software reference model). To that end, we have worked on (i) the identification of appropriate HCI approaches for each practice of the engineering advocated by these models, (ii) the evaluation and improvement of the identified HCI approaches with HCI experts, (iii) the validation of the proposition in an academic environment, and (iv) the conduction of two empirical studies about the perception of knowledge and use of HCI approaches in the industry. As a result, we got 14 categories of HCI approaches with examples of methods, techniques, patterns, and standards adequate to perform each practice of engineering activities of the both models when developing interactive systems. Moreover, the empirical study, in Brazilian industry, confirmed statistically that consultants of those SPCM models do not know and do not use HCI approaches as well as they know and use software engineering approaches

Testo completoThis research aims to answer two imperatives: 1) promote an economically promising sector, Renovation, that has not been subject to much scientific study; and 2) offer companies in this sector useful tools to help them succeed in their digital transition, a major challenge of the 21st century. When it comes to disseminating an Information System such as BIM, it is essential to use levers that enhance its implementation: the Critical Success Factor, fundamentals of Project Management, drafting BIM Execution Plans, an Integrated Project Delivery approach and Maturity Models. To ensure the right fit between these different levers and the specific needs of the Renovation segment, we conducted a survey with a representative panel of small enterprises, predominant in this sector. This survey confirmed that the sector is still in the early days of digital transition due to the small size of companies and economic situations that often reduce visibility and the ability to make long-term investment decisions. Small renovation firms are not always aware of the need for change (they are generally satisfied with 2D drawings and artisanal processes) and are therefore reluctant to invest in digital solutions such as BIM. In spite of this, most stakeholders are aware that in order to benefit from the transition or risk being left behind, they must find support in tools specific to their uses and practices. To measure their maturity and then realistically define their own development objectives, we therefore developed a "BIM Maturity Model for Renovation" or BiM²FR. The format and ease of implementation should enable small enterprises to identify their situation, emphasize their strengths and weaknesses, and then outline individual action plans suited to their activities. The Critical Success Factors analyzed and presented within BiM²FR should guarantee successful progress as companies implement BIM. In order to broaden the scope of this work, we created a free web interface for companies to make their own BIM maturity diagnosis. The site www.BiM2FR.eu, in addition to helping these companies, offers us, through the data collected and exchanged, a large number of research opportunities
