Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää kirjallisuuskatsauksen avulla, onko tutkittu terveysalan johtajien työhyvinvointia ja työssä jaksamista sekä näkyykö siinä sukupuolten välisiä eroja. Tutkielma toteutettiin kuvailevana kirjallisuuskatsauksena. Tiedonhaku tehtiin helmikuussa 2018 Scopus-, Medic-, Cinahl- ja ProQuest- tietokannoista samoja hakusanoja kaikissa käyttäen. Manuaalista hakua hyödynnettiin myös. Tutkielmaan hyväksyttiin artikkelit, joissa käsiteltiin terveysalan johtajien työssä jaksamista ja työhyvinvointia. Lopullisiin tuloksiin valikoitui kahdeksan artikkelia. Tutkielman tulokset tukevat aiempaa tietoa siitä, että terveysalan johtajien sukupuolen vaikutusta työhyvinvointiin ja työssä jaksamiseen ei ole tutkittu. Tulosten perusteella Ruotsissa, Kanadassa ja Pohjois-Amerikassa aihetta on tutkittu jonkin verran. Tutkielman tulosten perusteella on nähtävissä, että sukupuolten välillä on eroja, jotka heikentävät työssä jaksamista. Tulosten perusteella työhyvinvointiin ja työssä jaksamiseen liittyvät asiat jaettiin kuuteen tekijään: terveyteen liittyvät, uraan ja työnkuvaan liittyvät, tasapaino työn ja kodin sekä työtehtävien ja niihin käytettävissä olevaan aikaan liittyvät, omaan esimieheen liittyvät, saatuun tukeen/ tuen puutteeseen liittyvät ja organisaatioon liittyvät tekijät. Ei ole tehty kattavaa tutkimusta terveysalan johtajien sukupuolen vaikutuksesta työhyvinvointiin, joten siihen liittyvää tutkimusta pitää tehdä tulevaisuudessa. Sukupuolten välillä on eroja työssä jaksamisessa ja työhyvinvoinnissa.

Tässä tutkielmassa perehdyn boreaalisen metsävyöhykkeen leviämiseen tundralle ja tarkastelen erityisesti leviämiseen vaikuttavia tekijöitä ja alueellisia eroja. Hypoteesina oli, että boreaalinen metsävyöhyke on leviämässä tundralle. Tutkimuskysymyksiäni ovat: 1. Millaisia boreaalisella metsävyöhykkeellä tapahtuvat muutokset ovat? 2. Mitkä ovat vaikuttavat tekijät muutosten taustalla? 3. Onko muutoksissa alueellisia eroja? Aineistonani olen käyttänyt boreaalisen metsän leviämistä käsitteleviä artikkeleita ja biogeografian perusteoksia. Tutkielmani lopputuloksena on se, että boreaalinen metsävyöhyke on hitaasti leviämässä tundralle ja lämpötila sekä ilmastonmuutos ovat suurimmat vaikuttavat tekijät muutosten taustalla. Leviämisessä ei ilmennyt alueellisia eroja, vaan eteneminen tapahtuu kaikkialla boreaalisella metsävyöhykkeellä yhtä nopeasti. Alueellisia eroja ilmaantui vaikuttavissa tekijöissä.

Tutkielmassani vertailen aikuisväestön ja nuorison kiroilun määrää ja laatua toisiinsa. Oletan, että nuoriso kiroilee määrällisesti enemmän kuin aikuiset, ja että nuorison keskuudessa käytetään enimmäkseen seksuaalissävytteisiä kirosanoja (vittu, kyrpä). Oletan myös, että aikuisväestö käyttää nuorisoa enemmän uskonnollisperäisiä kirosanoja (perkele, saatana, helvetti). Nuorisolla tarkoitan yläkouluikäisiä nuoria ja aikuisväestöllä yli 40-vuotiaita aikuisia. Aineiston keräämiseen käytin kyselylomaketta, jossa on erilaisia kirosanojen käyttöön liittyviä kysymyksiä. Keräsin aineiston Muhoksen yläkoulun oppilailta sekä aikuisilta Facebookin käyttäjiltä internet-lomakkeella elokuussa 2017. Aineistoni koostuu yhteensä sadasta lomakkeesta, joista 50 on nuorilta ja 50 aikuisilta. Tutkielmastani käy ilmi, että vittu on molemmissa vertailuryhmissä ylivoimaisesti käytetyin kirosana. Aineiston perusteella aikuiset käyttävät uskonnollista voimasanastoa jonkin verran enemmän kuin nuoret. Nuorilla kiroilu koostuu seksuaalisanaston lisäksi myös eritesanoista ja ruumiinosien nimityksistä (paska, perse).

Aivoinfarkti on yksi eniten kustannuksia aiheuttavista sairauksista. Kustannusten lisäksi se aiheuttaa myös merkittävää inhimillistä kärsimystä kuoleman ja toimintakyvyn menetyksen kautta. Kalliita tutkimuksia ja hoitoja vaativan akuuttihoidon lisäksi etenkin toimintakykyään merkittävästi menettäneiden jatkohoito sitoo huomattavasti terveydenhuollon resursseja. Sairauden merkittävyyden vuoksi, tulisi sen hoitomenetelmien olla huippuunsa hiotut. Tämän työn tavoitteena on tutkia sairaanhoitopiirikohtaisia eroja aivoinfarktin hoidossa, sekä määrittää koko aivoinfarktin hoitoketjun kustannusvaikuttavuus. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu vuosien 1999–2009 aikana aivoinfarktin sairastaneista potilaista, joista on muodostettu paneeliaineisto vuosittain ja sairaanhoitopiireittäin. Aineiston tutkimusmenetelmät ovat kvantitatiivisia. Tulosten valossa aivoinfarktin hoidon vaikuttavuus on seuranta-aikana parantunut. Kuolleisuus aivoinfarktiin on laskenut ja kotona vietettyjen päivien määrä noussut. Merkittävin kuolleisuuden laskua selittävä tekijä on trendinomainen kehitys sairauden hoidossa, mutta myös lisäkustannuksilla osoitetaan saavutettavan vaikuttavuuslisää. Sairaanhoitopiirien ääripäiden välillä on suuria eroja niin vaikuttavuudessa kuin kustannuksissa. Tulokset ovat hyvin yleistettävissä, sillä niiden taustalla oleva aineisto on todellisesta reaalielämän vaikuttavuudesta kertovaa. Tutkimuksessa on myös heikkouksia, mutta kokonaisuutena voidaan saatuja löydöksiä pitää luotettavina. Löydösten pohjalta herää mielenkiintoisia jatkotutkimussuunnitelmia erityisesti kuntoutuksen ja elämänlaatutiedon osalta.

Tämän pro gradu -tutkielman aiheena ovat luonnon terveys- ja hyvinvointivaikutukset. Erityisesti keskitytään erilaisten erämaisten luonnonympäristöjen ihmisen terveyteen ja hyvinvointiin kohdistuviin vaikutuksiin. Tutkimuksen kohteena ovat neljän suojelualueen kävijät. Työn tarkoituksena on selvittää, vaikuttavatko erilaiset erämaiset luonnonympäristöt eri tavoin ihmisen terveyteen ja hyvinvointiin. Jos eri ympäristöjen vaikutuksissa havaitaan eroja, myös erojen syitä selvitetään. Tutkimuksessa käytetty aineisto on kvantitatiivinen. Aineisto on peräisin Metsähallituksen teettämästä internetkyselystä, joka toteutettiin vuosina 2013 ja 2015 viidellä eri suojelualueella. Noista suojelualueista neljän alueen (Kevon luonnonpuisto sekä Syötteen, Repoveden ja Kurjenrahkan kansallispuistot) vastaukset on otettu mukaan tähän tutkimukseen. Vastauksia saatiin 910 kappaletta, ja vastaukset jakautuivat epätasaisesti alueiden kesken. Internetkyselyyn saivat osallistua kaikki halukkaat, jotka täyttivät kävijätutkimuslomakkeen käyntikohteessaan (kansallis- tai luonnonpuistossa). Kävijätutkimusten otanta tehtiin satunnaisotannalla. Aineistoa käsiteltiin aluksi pääkomponenttianalyysilla ja sen jälkeen Kruskalin-Wallisin parivertailutestillä sekä regressioanalyysilla. Analyysissa ilmeni alueellisia eroja. Eroja oli eniten Kevon luonnonpuiston kävijöiden kokemuksissa, kun niitä verrattiin muiden alueiden kävijöiden kokemuksiin. Alueellisia kokemuseroja oli eniten siinä, kuinka kauan käyntinsä jälkeen kävijä koki käyntinsä fyysisten ja psyykkisten luonnon terveys- ja hyvinvointivaikutusten (LTH) kestävän, minkä arvoisiksi (euroissa) kävijä arvioi kokemansa LTH-vaikutukset, irtautuiko kävijä arjesta käyntinsä aikana, lisääntyikö hänen liikunnallinen hyvinvointinsa ja kokiko hän oppineensa ja toteuttaneensa itseään käynnillä. Tutkimuksessa ei pystytty toteamaan selviä syitä alueellisille kokemuseroille. Tulokset antavat kuitenkin osviittaa siihen, että kävijän käynnillään kokemat positiiviset psyykkiset vaikutukset voisivat olla taustalla tutkimuksessa todetuissa kokemuseroissa. Tutkimus vaatiikin jatkotutkimusta, jotta erämaisten luonnonympäristöjen terveys- ja hyvinvointivaikutuksia ymmärrettäisiin paremmin. Taustalla voi olla niin tutkimusalueiden erilaisia ympäristöllisiä erityispiirteitä kuin myös se, onko kävijä turisti vai paikallinen.

Orfičko učenje o bogu Erotu. Bog Erot u starogrčkoj mitologiji i njegovo predstavljanje u Hesiodovoj Teogoniji, Sapfinoj poeziji i Aristofanovoj komediji Ptice. Dokazivanje da je Platonov pojam erosa “conditio sine qua non” filozofije kao filozofije. Doktorska disertacija prikazuje razvoj pojma Erosa iz mitologije i poezije preko interpretacija Presokratovaca do Platonovog pojma erosa. Ovaj pojam je presudno uticao na hrišćanstvo kao i na celokupnu filozofiju Zapada. Ključne reči: Sokratov pojam erosa, Platonov pojam erosa, savremene interpretacije pojma, veza antičkih i savremenih interpretacija.
Orfic teaching about god Eros. God Eros at the Ancient mythology and his representation in Hesiod`s Theogony, Sappho`s poetry and Aristophanes`s comedy The Birds. Proving that Plato`s concept of Eros is “conditio sine qua non” philosophy like philosophy. Doctor’s thesis shows the progress concept of Eros from the mythology and poetry through Presocratic interpretations to the Plato`s concept of Eros. Le Lettere d’amore di Aristeneto (VI d. C.) non solo testimoniano la fortuna del genere epistolografico in età giustinianea, ma, ad un’indagine più specifica, sono un esempio di come nell’ambito della letteratura erotica svolgano ancora un ruolo di una certa importanza le figure di Eros, di Afrodite e del loro corteggio. Questo lavoro, dunque, analizza tutti i luoghi dell’epistolario in cui tali divinità compaiono, con particolare attenzione alle continue riprese dalla tradizione letteraria precedente, da Omero a Museo; è diviso in due capitoli, il primo dedicato alle lettere in cui gli dei, per lo più Afrodite, si occupano della bellezza dei protagonisti, il secondo a quelle in cui gli stessi prendono attivamente parte alle storie d’amore, soprattutto Eros e gli Eroti.
Aristaenetus' Love Letters(VI b.C.) testify not just the luck of epistolary genus in Justinianean age but, following these letters out, they are an example of how figures such Eros, Aphrodite and their court play a role in erotic literature field. This work analyzes every locus of the epistolary, in which these divinities appear, with particular attention on the continous resumptions of the previous literary tradition, from Homer to Musaeus; this work is divided in two chapters; the first one concerns the letters in which Gods, expecially Aphrodite, look after the main characters' beauty, the second one these in which Gods take actively part in love stories, above all Eros and Erotes.

Eros and Psyche is a novel that explores the original Greek myth but attempts to flesh out and modernize the myth as well. The story follows the separate histories of Eros, the son of Aphrodite and god of love, and Psyche, the mortal beauty destined to marry a monster. Their lives remain apart until Eros, in disgrace and in disguise, saves the life of the child Psyche, throwing the universe out of balance. As Psyche grows up, she flees her curse of marrying a monster to live with the Amazons and have her own independence. But destiny has forced Eros and Psyche together, and only together can they bring back balance to the universe and save each other.

Für die Universitätsbibliothek und das Universitätsarchiv Chemnitz wird ein alter Industriebau modernisiert – die Alte Aktienspinnerei. Das Gebäude behält den Charakter eines Fabrikgebäudes aus dem 19. Jahrhundert und wird eine moderne Bibliothek beherbergen, die rund um die Uhr geöffnet haben wird. Es entsteht eine sehr besondere Bibliothek, die nicht nur ein Speicher für gedruckte und elektronische Medien ist, sondern vielmehr eine Atmosphäre bietet, in der sich wissenschaftlich interessierte Menschen treffen, gedruckte und digitale Informationen finden, miteinander diskutieren und neue Ideen entwickeln können.
An old industrial building is being modernised for the University Library and the University Archive of Chemnitz - the Alte Aktienspinnerei. The building retains the character of a 19th century factory building and will house a modern library that will be open around the clock. A very special library will be created, which will not only be a home for printed and electronic media, but will also provide an atmosphere in which people interested in science can meet, find printed and digital information, discuss with each other and develop new ideas.

Dear All, Eros moves. In January of 2007 I decided to do research about Eros and his presence in architecture. I decided to do a thesis about LOVE. This thesis it is a story about me, since when you love architecture you give yourself completely to it. What you see in these pages, it's me: my life, my desires, my passion for architecture, my fears, my bad moments, my good moments, my joy--all of me. Desire in architecture seemed to me at that moment something with which I didn’t know how to start working. It was so abstract that, when considered, almost anything can be a desire, and maybe it is. But this thesis is a story of how desire opened for me an infinite world of imagination and wonder--how Eros made me love the drawing, the line, the color, the wall, the shadow, the material....the architecture. I have chosen to explore desire through the designing of a post office, theatre school, and retail shops. The site is in Washington DC, in between 7th and 8th streets SE, adjacent to Eastern Market.

Intimamente vincolato al tema dell’amore è il tema del delirio1. Platone, nel Fedro, ci presenta quattro tipi di delirio divino: il delirio delle Muse, il delirio d’amore, associato ad Afrodite ed Eros, il delirio di Dioniso e il delirio d’Apollo. In una specie di Ruota della Fortuna, una ruota che gira come la propria natura - dal giorno alla notte, dal caldo al freddo, dal buio alla luce, dai momenti di dolore ai momenti di gioia2 - si fonde l’umano con il divino.3 A muovere questa ruota c’è l’Amore, il movimento che accompagna il divenire del destino, la forza che muove i cicli della vita spingendo l’uomo verso l’alto, verso il luogo all’interno del quale si ha il privilegio di partecipare dalla visione divina, all’interno del quale si vede tutto unito in un ordine ed armonia.

Some of the background to the biosynthesis, synthesis and uses of ergot alkaloids has been reviewed. A novel synthesis of the indole system has been used in an attempt to synthesise a derivative of the tricyclic Uhles ketone. A variation on this method has been carried out using 3-indole propionic acid as the starting material. The novel synthesis of the indole ring system has been developed into a synthesis of a 4-substituted indole. A number of literature methods for the synthesis of 4-substituted indoles have been investigated, and their usefulness in the laboratory assessed. A modified Reissert synthesis has been carried out, along with a Batcho-Leimgruber synthesis. Also the use of a thallium based method and palladium catalysed carbon-carbon bond formation have been investigated. A novel synthesis of p-benzoquinones has been discovered, by oxidation of aromatic sulphonamides. This method has not been optimised but low to moderate yields of quinones have been achieved. This method was used in an attempt to synthesise o-benzoquinones, but was found to be unsuitable. A novel synthesis of aromatic thiol esters has been developed starting from simple substituted benzaldehydes esters and methylmethylthiomethylsulphoxide. The resulting ketene thioacetal monosulphoxide was treated under the same conditions as those used in the novel indole synthesis. High yields of thiolesters were obtained.

O presente estudo é uma investigação sobre a teoria estética de Herbert Marcuse. A estética em Marcuse está inerentemente atrelada ao estudo do desenvolvimento sócio-histórico da civilização científica e técnica. Segundo ele há uma administração científica das necessidades pulsionais dos seres humanos para a reprodução do status quo, que transforma mercadorias em objetos da libido. Para o autor, a tradição filosófica tratou de separar as faculdades mentais e sensuais dos seres humanos, inferiorizando o que compete aos sentidos em relação ao que compete à razão, criando uma visão bipartida de homem e de mundo. Marcuse busca reunir estas faculdades, que um dia já foram pensadas em conjunto. Desta forma, o autor resgata Eros para pensar uma dimensão estética da existência humana. Cria novos pressupostos para se pensar o retorno à unidade humana e vê na arte um caminho possível para isto se concretizar. Para tanto, vai se apoiar em Freud - pois para ele, Freud percebeu a capacidade dos indivíduos de internalizar e reproduzir inconscientemente a repressão dos impulsos humanos - utilizando conceitos desenvolvidos por ele, tais como princípio de prazer e princípio de realidade para contextualizar sua teoria estética. O filósofo ressalta ainda que o desenvolvimento da tecnologia criou uma racionalidade tecnológica que condiciona ao conformismo e a uma "consciência feliz" gerando uma falsa sensação de bem-estar corroborada pela dessublimação repressiva, característica da sociedade contemporânea, que enfraquece a revolta. This study consists of an investigation on Herbert Marcuse's aesthetic theory. In Marcuse, aesthetics is intrinsically related to the study of the socio-historical development of the scientific and technical civilization. According to him, there is a scientific management of human beings' instinctual needs to reproduce the status quo, which turns merchandise into objects of the libido. For this author, the philosophical tradition managed to divide man's mental and sensuous faculties, diminishing the features related to the senses as compared to those related to reason, thus creating a split notion of man and the world. Marcuse wants to bring these faculties back together, which were once thought of as a unity. And so the author relies on Eros to think of an aesthetic dimension of the human existence. He establishes new assumptions in order to be able to outline a return to human unity and finds in art a possible way for this to happen. He seeks Freud for support - to him, Freud realized the ability individuals have to internalize and unconsciously reproduce the repression of human impulses - and uses concepts developed by him, such as pleasure principle and reality principle, to contextualize his aesthetic theory. The philosopher further points out that the development of technology has created a technological rationality that conditions men to conformity and a "happy conscious", thus creating a false sense of well-being confirmed by repressive desublimation, a feature of contemporary society, which weakens rebellions. Marcuse's main idea lies in the ability of art as a fantasy-based matter - to conciliate sensibility and reason and to lead us to another reality, or another reality principle, in which the world would be essentially erotic and freedom, beauty and happiness would prevail.

Tradicinės žiniasklaidos žengimas į skaitmeninę erą atvėrė vartus į staigų naujos informacijos perdavimą, virtualų bendravimą, artimesnę sąsają su visu pasauliu. Lietuvoje skaitmeninėmis technologijomis, jomis perduodama tekstine, garso bei vaizdo informacija vis labiau domimasi. Skaitmeninės eros žurnalistika yra aktuali, nauja ir mažai nagrinėta tema Lietuvoje. Tai parodo ir itin skurdus lietuvių literatūros sąrašas apie skaitmeninę mediją. Žengdami pirmuosius žingsnius skaitmeninėje eroje, turime plačiau su ja supažindinti ne tik skaitmeninės eros vartotojus, t.y. jaunąją kartą, bet ir vyresniąją kartą, kuri sunkiai suvokia, kas tai yra. Today‘s society more often faces to technological innovation. Once technological miracles, as the radio, TV, computer, became a reality. Modern technologies surpass society‘s expectations. The society little by little enters the new digital era. The information and knowledge of these days reach the people momentarily. The traditional media‘s step to the digital era opened the new gates to sudden new information transmission, virtual communication, closer connection with all the world. In Lithuania it is more interested in the digital technologies, their transferred textual, audio and video information. The journalism of the digital era is the actual, new and little analyzed subject in Lithuania. It shows a very poor list of Lithuanian literature about the digital media. By doing first steps in the digital era we must familiarize more widely with it not only the digital era‘s users, but also those who hardly understand what it is. Familiarization with the medium of the digital era would increase the number of users and let for a big part of society to use these era‘s advantages. It is only in "erotic matters" that Plato's Socrates is wise, or so he claims at least on several occasions, and since his Socrates makes this claim, it is necessary for Plato's readers to investigate the content of Socrates' wisdom about eros. This dissertation undertakes such an investigation. Plato does not, however, make Socrates' view of eros easy to grasp. So diverse are Socrates' treatments of eros in different dialogues and even within the same dialogue that doubt may arise as to whether he has a consistent view of eros; Socrates subjects eros to relentless criticism throughout the Republic and his first speech in the Phaedrus, and then offers eros his highest praise in his second speech in the Phaedrus and a somewhat lesser praise in the Symposium. This dissertation takes the question of why Socrates treats eros in such divergent ways as its guiding thread and offers an account of the ambiguity in eros' character that renders it both blameworthy and praiseworthy in Socrates' estimation. The investigation is primarily of eros in its ordinary sense of romantic love for another human being, for Socrates' most extensive discussions of eros, those of the Phaedrus and Symposium, are primarily about romantic love. Furthermore, as this investigation makes clear, despite his references to other kinds of eros, Socrates distinguishes a precise meaning of eros, according to which eros is always love of another human being. Socrates' view of romantic love is then assessed through studies of the Republic, Phaedrus, and Symposium. These studies present a unified Socratic understanding of eros; despite their apparent differences, Socrates' treatment of eros in each dialogue confirms and supplements that of the others, each providing further insight into Socrates' complete view. In the Republic, Socrates' opposition to eros, as displayed in both his discussion of the communism of the family in book five and his account of the tyrannic soul in book nine, is traced to irrational religious beliefs to which he suggests eros is connected. Socrates then explains this connection by presenting romantic love as a source of such beliefs in the Phaedrus and Symposium. Because eros is such a source, this dissertation argues that philosophy is incompatible with eros in its precise sense, as Socrates subtly indicates even within his laudatory treatments of eros in the Phaedrus and Symposium. Thus, as a source of irrational beliefs, eros is blameworthy. Yet eros is also praiseworthy. Despite his indication that the philosopher would be free of eros in the precise sense, Socrates also argues that the experience of eros can be of great benefit in the education of a potential philosopher. Precisely as a source of irrational religious belief, the erotic experience includes a greater awareness of the longing for immortality and hence the concern with mortality that Socrates believes is characteristic of human beings, and by bringing lovers to a greater awareness of this concern, eros provides a first step towards the self-knowledge characteristic of the philosophic life

Si è cercato di sottolineare come sia sempre stato difficile per questo paese individuare i tratti della propria coscienza identitaria, a causa delle continue occupazioni da parte di potenze più forti, che spesso hanno cercato di indebolire il sentimento nazionale degli Ucraini, arrivando talvolta a vere e proprie repressioni e violenze. È stato anche delineato il fenomeno dei Cosacchi, elemento fondamentale nella costruzione dell'identità ucraina. The negative impacts of ergot contamination of grain on the health of humans and animals were first documented during the fifth century AD. Although ergotism is now rare in humans, cleaning contaminated grain concentrates ergot bodies in screenings which are used as livestock feed. Ergot is found worldwide, with even low concentrations of alkaloids in the diet (<100 ppb total), reducing the growth efficiency of livestock. Extended periods of increased moisture and cold during flowering promote the development of ergot in cereal crops. Furthermore, the unpredictability of climate change may have detrimental impacts to important cereal crops, such as wheat, barley, and rye, favoring ergot production. Allowable limits for ergot in livestock feed are confusing as they may be determined by proportions of ergot bodies or by total levels of alkaloids, measurements that may differ widely in their estimation of toxicity. The proportion of individual alkaloids, including ergotamine, ergocristine, ergosine, ergocornine, and ergocryptine is extremely variable within ergot bodies and the relative toxicity of these alkaloids has yet to be determined. This raises concerns that current recommendations on safe levels of ergot in feeds may be unreliable. Furthermore, the total ergot alkaloid content is greatly dependent on the geographic region, harvest year, cereal species, variety and genotype and can vary greatly depending on the chosen analytical method. Considerable animal-to-animal variation in the ability of the liver to detoxify ergot alkaloids also exists and the impacts of factors, such as pelleting of feeds or use of binders to reduce bioavailability of alkaloids require study. Accordingly, unknowns greatly outnumber the knowns for cereal ergot and further study to help better define allowable limits for livestock would be welcome.

According to classical Greek mythology, Eros was one of the first beings to arise out of Chaos and represented the concepts of harmony and union necessary in creating the world and its creatures. The primary fear that Zola addresses (and exploits) in Germinal is the fear of anarchy and of social chaos. This is accomplished thanks to a relentless textual insistency on eroticism. This emphasis on human sexuality, along with Zola's ground-breaking treatment of the working class, represents the breaking of the two greatest literary taboos in nineteenth century French literature: the vivid depiction of bodily urges and the minute examination of the proletariat. Our thesis is that the revolutionary impact and the incontestable literary longevity of Germinal stem largely from Zola's successful shattering of these timorous traditions--the logical extension of reigning bourgeois morals--via his persistent depictions of the corporeal and the erotic. This essay, therefore, is an attempt to analyze, to describe, and to reconcile the diverse and contradictory elements which comprise the erotic subtext in Zola's most famous novel, that is to provide an erotic reading of Germinal.

A software concern may be defined as a set of requirements related to the same purpose. A CrossCutting Concern (CCC) (or Early-Aspect) is a concern whose requirements cutacross other concern requirements and the inadequate modularization of this type of concern may hinder the software development and evolution. The Aspect-Oriented Requirements Engineering (AORE) area provides more appropriate strategies for CCC identification, representation and composition. A commonly reported issue on AORE approaches is the low effectiveness provided by them, regarding to the concern identification and classification. This is due to two main causes: (i) the lack of a broader understanding about software concerns domain; and (ii) the lack of appropriate resources to support software engineers during the identification and classification of software concerns. This work aims to mitigate the reported issue by dealing with its main causes. To do this, we present: (i) a reference ontology for software concerns domain, called O4C (Ontology for Concerns), that aims to make clear and precise the description of the elements of this domain; (ii) an ontologically-based AORE approach, called ObasCId (Ontologically-based Concern Identification); and (iii) a computational tool, called OBasCId-Tool, that automates some activities of the ObasCId approach. The evaluation of the proposed approach and its computational support was carried out through experimental studies, in order to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of these research products regarding to concern identification and classification. The results indicate the ObasCId approach may contribute positively to the recall of software concerns without harming the precision and the execution time of the approach. Regarding to the ObasCId- Tool, it has been considered approved by its users, regarding to its usefulness and easeof- use features.
Um interesse de software (concern) consiste em um conjunto de requisitos relacionados a um mesmo propósito. Quando um interesse possui requisitos que se encontram entrelaçados com requisitos de outros interesses, trata-se de um “Interesse Transversal” e a modularização inadequada desse tipo de interesse pode dificultar o desenvolvimento e a evolução do software. A área de Engenharia de Requisitos Orientada a Aspectos (EROA) oferece estratégias mais adequadas para identificação, representação e composição de Interesses Transversais (ITs). Um problema comumente relatado nos estudos experimentais sobre abordagens para EROA é a baixa efetividade proporcionada por elas, com relação à identificação e classificação de interesses do software. Isso ocorre por duas causas principais: (i) a falta de uma compreensão mais ampla a respeito do domínio de interesses de software; e (ii) a escassez de recursos apropriados para apoiar engenheiros de software durante a identificação e classificação dos interesses do software. O objetivo deste doutorado é mitigar o problema relatado, atacando suas principais causas por meio de: (i) uma ontologia de referência para o domínio de interesses de software, denominada O4C (Ontology for Concerns), cujo intuito é tornar clara e precisa a descrição dos elementos desse domínio; (ii) uma abordagem para EROA fundamentada nos conceitos da ontologia O4C, denominada ObasCId (Ontologically-based Concern Identification); e (iii) uma ferramenta computacional para automatização de algumas atividades da abordagem ObasCId, denominada OBasCId-Tool. A avaliação da abordagem proposta, bem como de seu apoio computacional, foi realizada por meio de estudos experimentais, visando a verificar a efetividade e eficiência desses produtos de pesquisa com relação à identificação e classificação de interesses de software. Os resultados indicaram que a abordagem ObasCId pode contribuir positivamente para a cobertura de interesses de software, sem prejudicar a precisão e o tempo de execução dessa abordagem. Quanto à ferramenta ObasCId-Tool, a mesma foi considerada satisfatória por seus usuários, com relação às suas características de utilidade e facilidade de uso.

This study is specifically concerned with cult activities at Bronze Age tombs. This phenomenon, known as 'tomb cult', is not widespread all over Greece, evidences for definite and intensive worship are meager and some of the materials found in connection with chamber or tholos tombs may also be intrusive. By contrast, cults at Mycenaean tombs have gained attention in the last decades and have been described as an important means of self-definition; hero cult and ancestors cult, also, have been claimed as an interpretation of this kind of worship but no explanation seems to be really exhaustive. The main issue is to investigate the phenomenon with a proper methodology, which is actually lacking. In my research Data have been investigated with a philological and contextual approach, whose main aim was to evaluate the existence of a definite votive character in the depositions at Bronze Age tombs; “cult” and “ritual/sacred” activities have been distinguished from “profane” activities and conclusions have been drawn from both cultual and non-cultual examples. These data did not support the view that Bronze age tombs were object of cult: most often ancient tombs were not worshipped at all or were treated with disrespect. These results suggest the opportunity of a more articulated interpretation of the evidence and a reconsideration of the so-called “tomb cult” at Mycenaean tombs, which seems to be only a modern theoretical model that does not apply to the ancient world. Through a detailed analysis of two outstanding discourses on love: Plato's eros and Lacan's desire, this thesis studies the narratives of desire in Shakespeare's poetry. My reading of Shakespeare's poetry is an interpretation of three major themes of procreation, sublimation, and idealisation that not only reflect the discourse of desire but also establish its formulation. In each chapter a tradition of the theme has been respectively incorporated to demonstrate its context. Part I (Chapters One to Three) reveals Plato's concept of eros in terms of logocentricism and its egocentric nature. Part II (Chapters Four to Seven) concentrates on the cause, nature and object of desire from Lacan's perspective. In Part III, Chapter Eight focuses on the metaphor of procreation as an egocentric desire that creates the irrevocable mark of loss. Through the act of regeneration, the lower not only establishes the beloved as an other but also denies any sense of unity. In Chapter Nine, the paradoxical nature of sublimation demonstrates a mode of auto-eroticism that constitutes desire as a metonymy of want-to-be. By elevating the beloved, the lover maintains his transcendence. Finally, Chapter Ten explores the unrepresentability of beauty and the inexpressibility of desire in the movement of idealisation. The dematerialisation of the beloved presents an iconic image of her and the language of desire, like the language of hieroglyphics, becomes indecipherable. Accordingly, the image of death in Shakespeare's poetry characterises the impossibility of desire. The study of emotion is an interdisciplinary field. One key aspect of this field is the cultural variation of emotion. This thesis is a contribution to the above area by means of a specific analysis of the ancient Greek conception of the emotion ἔρως. The focus for this study is the Greek Novel, a collection of literary works emerging from the Greek speaking culture of the eastern Mediterranean during the Roman imperial period (1st to 4th cent C.E.). These novels are based upon the universal topics of love and sexual passion, while at the same time reflecting and reworking both the specific social and literary climate of the period and ancient Greek folk and philosophical models of psychology. My thesis argues that the role of conceptual metaphor in the understanding of ἔρως as an emotion has not yet been fully appreciated, and that an understanding of metaphor is essential for gauging which parts of the folk model of the emotion are culturally specific or universal, and how these sections interact.

Abstract (sommario):
The purpose of the current study is to present an interpretation of Eros and its demonical aspect as it is described in Plato’s dialogues Phaedrus and The Symposium as well as to attempt to throw some light over the question in which way the erotic as such influences Plato’s notion of how to pursue philosophy. In the first part of the essay an account is given of the Platonic Eros as a unifying element and as striving for being. I defend the position that in the context of the interpreted dialogues philosophy is thought of as an erotic enterprise which takes place as a coming closer to the object of love. This coming closer takes place as remembering in Phaedrus and as creating in beauty in The Symposium. Further I suggest that the creative activity in which the philosophical lover is involved lets a certain demonic time arise. In the second part of the study I change perspective and look at the erotic desire as a twofold process. In order to clarify the underlying dynamics in this process I introduce the concept of demonic appeal. The erotic desire takes place according to this twofold structure as a demonic appeal on the side of the beloved which gives rise to an erotic striving on the side of the lover. The lover is pulled towards the beloved which is perceived by the lover as something demonic, as the effect of a foreign commanding power over him. What pulls the lover towards itself is the beautiful and I argue that the beautiful is the way in which being appears to the philosophic lover. In the last part of this section I discuss the consequences of this way of appearing of being for Plato’s thinking. In the third and last part of this study I focus on mindfulness of one’s erotic desires as the necessary condition for initiation of philosophic life. I maintain that the purpose of mindfulness according to the dialogues is the attainment of freedom and a reflective stance in respect to one’s desires.

A forma restrita como Eros foi representado desde a Antiguidade até cerca da década de 70 do século XX constituiu um elemento de repressão da mulher. Suas representações, ideo-logicamente tratadas, transformaram-se em instrumento de controle do pensamento, da pala-vra e do comportamento feminino, eximindo-se da relação analógica com o contexto religioso apenas a omissão (do desejo), objetivo do controle. Nessa perspectiva, a associação entre Li-teratura e Representações Sociais, com base nos pilares comuns que as sustentam, o simbólico e a linguagem, permitiu a operacionalização de leituras analíticas de Eros e do erótico na obra de Gilka Machado, poeta simbolista. O objetivo do trabalho foi identificar a representação de Eros e do erotismo na poesia gilkiana, com base na teoria das Representações Sociais. O estu-do tornou-se possível porque, além de pilares comuns, essas áreas têm como foco de trabalho a relação entre o dado e o construído, na Literatura, e o tomado da realidade e o a ela devolvi-do, nas Representações Sociais, aspectos que, em última instância, são bastante próximos em sua gênese, já que advindos da sociedade em sua expressão e significação do momento. A pesquisa abrangeu a obra de Gilka Machado reunida no volume “Poesias completas”, que inclui todos os seus livros. _______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
The way Eros was represented since antiquity until about the 70s of the twentieth cen-tury was an element of repression of women. Its representations, ideologically treated, became an instrument of control of thought, word and female behavior, exempting from the analogical relation with the religious context only the act (of desire), the control objective. Accordingly, the association between Literature and Social Representations, based on the common pillars that sustain it, the symbolic and the language, allowed the operation of analytical readings of Eros and the erotic content in the work of Gilka Machado, a symbolist poet. The objective of this study was to identify the representation of Eros and eroticism in the poetry of Gilka Ma-chado, based on the theory of Social Representations. The study was made possible because, in addition to common pillars, these areas focus the relationship between the data and built, in Literature, and the subject taken from reality and the subject returned to it, in the Social Re-presentations, aspects that ultimately are very similar in its genesis, once they arise from so-ciety in its expression and significance of the moment. The study covered the work of Gilka Machado gathered in the volume "Complete Poems", which includes all her books.

Though Dante never read Plato's dialogues on love, when examining the texts of Dante one notes the presence of Platonic thought and influence particularly concerning the notion of love. This thesis will focus upon the Platonic notion of eros and how it changes over time, ultimately being integrated into the Christian notion of love as understood by Dante, and how this Platonic influence is instantiated within Dante's poetry. The inherent ambiguity of the concept of love, evident historically through frequent debates concerning its value whether positive, negative or in-between, makes any investigation into the nature of love problematic, often aporetic. One aim of this thesis is to help overcome some of the aporiai of knowledge concerning love through focusing upon one form of love, eros or passionate desire, which we shall use in order to understand love more generally through exploring its points of intersection and overlapping with certain other types of love, each of which emphasizes different aspects of love's character differentiated through culture and period. Significantly eros, as perhaps the most ambiguous type of love, is often characterized negatively. Taking into account Nygren's negative view of eros which he sees as being wholly acquisitive and self-seeking as opposed to the thoroughly selfless Christian agape, we shall consider whether this view tells the full truth about eros. In this endeavour we shall explore the interrelationship of eros and understanding understood as a dialectic directed towards the pursuit of truth, which in both the Platonic and Christian traditions involves the permanent possession of the good, beautiful and true; these converge in Neo-Platonic tradition, forming a unity which in Christianity is identified with God. We shall also explore how various strands of eros relate to and articulate the notion of love of the individual. These explorations cast light on the transformation of Platonic eros by Christian agape into the Latin concept of caritas. In terms of procedure, we shall examine the notion of Platonic eros as presented in the Symposium and the Phaedrus and how this conception is reinterpreted in Dante's Commedia, these texts together acting as a lens which -will enable us better to comprehend the significance of Bros, and of love more generally, through the transformation of eros over time.

This research explores what happens to some men when, despite the best of intentions and heroic efforts on all sides, a marriage ends in divorce. Using a blend of alchemical hermeneutics and hermeneutic phenomenology, this qualitative study explores the lived experience of 5 heterosexual men who suffered psychologically in divorce. Divorce was examined from Freudian, Jungian, and archetypal perspectives using the depth psychological lenses of alchemy, mythology, and fairy tale. A hybrid method of qualitative analysis was created that incorporated the use of psychodrama to analyze the data. From the results of this study, the journey through divorce for suffering men can be seen as being comprised of 3 stages: a Coming Storm, a Tempest, and an Aftermath. The intrapsychic destruction experienced by many men in divorce was also viewed as an attempt at an undoing of the hieros gamos, or sacred marriage. From the results of this investigation, it is further postulated that such a divorce may be a psychological impossibility. The author’s experience as a divorced man informs his observations and conclusions.

Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa de abordagem fenomenológica hermenêutica fundamentada no pensamento do filósofo Maurice Merleau-Ponty e do sociólogo Michel Maffesoli, que teve como objetivo compreender como a sexualidade se manifesta no cotidiano das enfermeiras na dimensão pessoal, profissional e social. Foram realizadas no período de março a abril de 2001, 20 entrevistas gravadas com enfermeiras de instituições hospitalares e de ensino superior públicas e privadas. A análise dos discursos se deu mediante três momentos: a descrição, a redução e a compreensão fenomenológica, o que ensejou a identificação de três unidades temáticas, que foram subjetivamente categorizadas em: o Eros da complementaridade na dimensão pessoal, profissional e social; o Eros da maternidade e o Eros intermediário impregnado pelo poder. Constatou-se que o desejo pelo outro, enquanto complemento, viabilizou o projeto de constituição de uma família, de uma vida harmoniosa, de uma relação vivenciada a partir do jogo das diferenças, constituído por um misto de elementos contraditórios e opostos que se complementam. Na dimensão profissional o desejo da complementaridade aparece na situação de encontro/interação do corpo cuidador e do corpo cuidado, proporcionando as trocas e o reconhecimento, uma vez que o corpo cuidador mostra seu conhecimento, sua competência técnica, suas possibilidades, enfim seu potencial humano, sua capacidade de aliar racionalidade e sensibilidade, possibilitando um cuidado autêntico, humanizado, ético, não verticalizado, num cenário no qual Eros (vida) e Thánatos (morte) convivem juntos em eterna luta. O reconhecimento surge como desejo realizado, que depende do olhar do outro e proporciona prazer, tanto para a enfermeira que trabalha no cuidado direto como para enfermeira que trabalha na administração. O desejo da complementaridade aparece ainda em diversas formas de agregações societais entre corporeidades que proporcionam prazer e mostram momentos de descontração, de lazer, de ludismo, do cuidado de si. O desejo de ser mãe aparece como desejo realizado que proporciona prazer, visto que a maternidade propicia vivenciar uma relação humana absoluta de troca, de complementaridade, uma relação quiasmática e também dá início a um novo ciclo na vida da mulher: o amor materno. O desejo intermediário é fruto da insatisfação constatada no balanço existencial, que nos coloca na roda da vida e leva a uma ganância intelectual e material, a um consumismo sedutor e desenfreado, porque atrás deste está o poder que atinge nosso corpo, nossa existência, enfim todas as instâncias da sociedade, motivo pelo qual ninguém está imune a ele. Assim sendo, constatei que a sexualidade é dimensão ontológica que se manifesta na corporeidade, expressa nossa maneira de ser e de estar no mundo mediante os Eros que permeiam o cotidiano humano, e que esta nova concepção permite pensar a sexualidade de maneira mais ampla, uma vez que transcende a visão biológica e reprodutiva hegemônica na Enfermagem

Proceeding from the curious case of the meteoric rise and subsequent legal suppression of EROS Magazine, an expensive, hardcover, color-illustrated quarterly magazine printed and mass marketed throughout the United States in 1962, this dissertation examines the significant impact Sigmund Freud's repressive theory of civilization had upon successive generations of U.S. public intellectuals and thus upon the 1960's Counter Culture they helped to create. Part One traces the intellectual history of the Freudian left from 1908 through the early 1960's, examining closely writings by Freud, Emma Goldman, Margaret Mead, Ruth Benedict, Erich Fromm, John Kenneth Galbraith, Herbert Marcuse, and Norman O. Brown. Part Two performs a close reading of the extant four issues of EROS, during which I argue that both the magazine's widespread popularity and its harsh legal suppression were both due to its polemical advocacy on behalf of a psychoanalytically-informed rebellion against an overly repressive mainstream culture.
