Abstract (sommario):
An aim of this paper is to use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in facilitating efficient file management system. RFID is an abbreviation of radio frequency identification, RFID was poised to take off and become a standard piece of library technology. An RFID transmitter is also needed to capture the radio frequency signal from the tag for turn out to be giving out by the RFID reader. Therefore RFID has been referred to as “a non-contact method of using radio frequency electromagnetic waves for communication between two remote entities”. An Objective of this paper is to design 3D modeling of file rack using Creo software, manage the files using RFID tag, read the files from RFID using microcontroller through embedded code and to display the files using 16x2 Liquid Crystal Display and 4x4 keypad. The position of the files in the rack will be identified using Light Emitting Diode.

Abstract (sommario):
UHF passive RFID tags embedded in tires have a deep impact on tire life cycle management and tire monitoring. In this work, we present the power transmission of UHF passive embedded RFID in tires. In UHF passive embedded RFID systems in tires, the bidirectional radio link between reader and tags goes through air and tires. The total path loss contains reflection loss at tire-air boundaries and attenuation loss in the tires. The power transmission is based on the permittivity of tires and tire-air boundary conditions. We give an OCP method for measuring the permittivity of tires. By analyzing the radio link for UHF passive RFID, we establish a model of wave propagation of UHF embedded RFID in tires and make numerical analyses. Numerical analyses show that the error of the OCP methods for measuring the permittivity of tires is small, the parallel polarization and normal incidence of wave are chosen for improving the performance of the UHF embedded RFID in tires, and distance is chosen to keep power transmission function from locating valley.

Nowadays, security plays a big role, notably in homes, companies, and banks. This article uses embedded systems to design a bank locker security system. The Global System for Mobile (GSM) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies are the foundation of this system. Only honest people are permitted to retrieve money or gold from bank lockers. It is created by fusing RFID and GSM technologies, allowing for real-time activation, authentication, and validation of the user and door unlocking for safe access to bank lockers. GSM and passive RFID are safer than other technologies. A microcontroller, RFID reader, GSM modem, keyboard, and a liquid crystal diode make up this system (LCD). This system employs a dual password protection scheme to ensure that only legitimate individuals can get funds from bank lockers.

Abstract (sommario):
RFID tags, small microchips no bigger than grains of rice, are currently being embedded in product labels, clothing, credit cards, and the environment, among other sites. Activated by the appropriate receiver, they transmit information ranging from product information such as manufacturing date, delivery route, and location where the item was purchased to (in the case of credit cards) the name, address, and credit history of the person holding the card. Active RFIDs have the capacity to transmit data without having to be activated by a receiver; they can be linked with embedded sensors to allow continuous monitoring of environmental conditions, applications that interest both environmental groups and the US military. The amount of information accessible through and generated by RFIDs is so huge that it may well overwhelm all existing data sources and become, from the viewpoint of human time limitations, essentially infinite. What to make of these technologies will be interrogated through two contemporary fictions, David Mitchell's Cloud Atlas and Philip K. Dick's Ubik . Cloud Atlas focuses on epistemological questions — who knows what about whom, in a futuristic society where all citizens wear embedded RFID tags and are subject to constant surveillance. Resistance takes the form not so much of evasion (tactical moves in a complex political Situation) but rather as a struggle to transmit information to present and future stakeholders in a world on the brink of catastrophe. Ubik, by contrast, focuses on deeper ontological questions about the nature of reality itself. Both texts point to the necessity to reconceptualize information as ethical action embedded in contexts and not merely as a quantitative measure of probabilities.

When Shape memory alloy (SMA) wires are embedded in the composite structure with a specific volume fraction, the properties of the resulting hybrid composite structure, which is called SMA-reinforced composite structure, will be reinforced. Some of SMA wires embedded in the composite can be viewed as two electrodes of the capacitor. The deformation of the composite structure will cause change of the capacitor, therefore the segmental SMA wires embedded in the composite may be considered as the self-sensitive element of structure strain monitoring. The measurement circuit monitoring the change of micro capacitor in structure is designed, and it is integrated with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to compose RFID sensor-tag, and the variation of capacitor is send to the RFID reader wirelessly to form a wireless health monitoring system. Experimental results show that this RFID sensor-tag and its system can be feasibly used in wireless structural health monitoring of SMA-reinforced composite structure.

Abstract (sommario):
In civil engineering, many structures are made of reinforced concrete. Most degradation processes relevant to this material, e.g., corrosion, are related to an increased level of material moisture. Therefore, moisture monitoring in reinforced concrete is regarded as a crucial method for structural health monitoring. In this study, passive radio frequency identification (RFID)-based sensors are embedded into the concrete. They are well suited for long-term operation over decades and are well protected against harsh environmental conditions. The energy supply and the data transfer of the humidity sensors are provided by RFID. The sensor casing materials are optimised to withstand the high alkaline environment in concrete, having pH values of more than 12. Membrane materials are also investigated to identify materials capable of enabling water vapour transport from the porous cement matrix to the embedded humidity sensor. By measuring the corresponding relative humidity with embedded passive RFID-based sensors, the cement hydration is monitored for 170 days. Moreover, long-term moisture monitoring is performed for more than 1000 days. The experiments show that embedded passive RFID-based sensors are highly suitable for long-term structural health monitoring in civil engineering.

Abstract (sommario):
Concrete maturity technology is used to predict the strength of concrete being cured and make an informed decision for stripping the formworks. However, the current concrete maturity method uses temperature sensors that require an extensive wiring, which is not often acceptable on construction site due to harsh working environment. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology provides a solution for the wiring issue because of its ability of sending data wirelessly. An RFID tag integrated with a temperature sensor and placed within fresh concrete may be able to read temperatures of concrete and transmit them to an RFID reader wirelessly in real‐time. It may then enable construction professionals to use concrete maturity technology to make an informed decision for stripping the formworks without having to worry about wiring issues on construction site. However, the previous research indicated that the RFID signal gets dispersed in liquid medium. One may speculate then how well RFID signals can travel through fresh concrete with high water content. Would water content of fresh concrete affect the readability of RFID tags? Would the tag's burying depth within fresh concrete affect its readability? This paper presents the results of our investigation on the readability of RFID tags placed in fresh concrete in the early stage of the curing process. Abstract (sommario):
Abstract: An RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) based attendance system is a technology-driven approachthat automates the process of recording attendance. This abstract outlines the key components and functionality of such a system. RFID technology employs electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects or individuals. In the context of attendance tracking, RFIDtags are assigned to students, employees, or participants. These tags are embedded with unique identification information. The attendance system consists of several components including RFID tags, RFID readers, a database, and a software interface. Each participant is provided with an RFID tag which is either worn (like an ID card) or embedded into an object (like a wristband). When participants enter a designated area monitored by RFID readers, the readers detect the presence of the RFID tags within range. The reader captures the unique ID associated with the tag and transmits this data to a centralized database. The database stores the attendance records, associating each tag ID with a timestamp and participant identity. The advantages of an RFID-based attendance system include accuracy, efficiency, and automation. It reduces the manual effort required for traditional attendance taking, minimizes errors associated with human intervention, and provides real-time data for monitoring attendance trends. This abstract summarizes the fundamental concepts and benefits of an RFID attendance system, highlighting its role in streamlining attendance management.

Simple analog devices like manometers, manual valves, etc., have been ignored in the digitization process that has characterized the transition towards Industry 4.0. The reason behind this is that their substitution with the equivalent digital versions is high cost and needs re-wiring. This study introduces a low-cost wireless and passive model aligned with the Industry 4.0 paradigm to digitize analog indicators. The concept is based on electromagnetic (EM) shielding of the manometer’s embedded radio frequency identification (RFID) tag. We designed and tuned a new tiny RFID tag to be embedded into analog devices. Finally, a digitized manometer by RFID electromagnetic shielding concept is simulated in the Ansys HFSS modeling environment.

ABSTRACT Radiofrequency (RFID) identification is a commonly used technology in retail stores, highway toll payment transceivers, payment cards for mass transit systems, electronic access cards for office buildings, and many other applications. The use of RFID in tires can increase efficiencies of tracking manufacturing, distribution, retreading, and tire usage, resulting in reduced costs. Previous research has shown difficulty in obtaining a useful read range from RFID tags in tires, although most of these studies have involved passenger car tires that do not have steel body plies. In this work, commercially available RFID tags with helical dipole antennas were embedded into commercial tires of four different sizes. The difference in size between the largest and smallest tire used was 10%. These commercial tires have steel belts as well as steel body plies. Other than dimensions, all of the tires had identical tire constructions and used the same rubber compounds. Identical tags were embedded at the same location in all tires. Measurements were performed on multiple tires per size, which show that the read range of the helical dipole antenna has a high sensitivity to tire size. The sensitivity of the read range due to tire size is undesirable, because it means that sufficient read range may not be achieved in all tire constructions with the same tag.

The proliferation of mobile devices such as smart phones and other handheld appliances has stimulated the development of a broad range of functionality, including medical, retail, gaming, and personal applications. Technology that has been leveraged to enable many of these uses includes embedded mobile, radio frequency identification, location based services, and augmented reality. Embedded mobile refers to preprogrammed tasks that are performed on a mobile device. Personal care and monitoring is one of the most common uses of embedded mobile. RFID involves communication between a tag and a reader. Mobile RFID extends the technology by tagging the mobile device with an RFID tag to perform tasks on the device. Near field communication is frequently utilized in mobile payment systems. Advertisers find this of significant use in focusing advertisements based on the location of an individual. Augmented reality involves the use of computer generated or enhanced sensory input such as audio and visual components to enhance the perception of reality.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractThe structural health of civil infrastructure can be monitored using non‐destructive testing methods and wireless sensor technology. Buildings are often made of reinforced concrete, in which the sensors can be embedded during construction. The implementation of sensor‐based monitoring therefore fundamentally requires robust electronics. The wireless sensors must meet the special requirements of different areas such as communication, durability in the concrete, and compatibility with future readers. Taking into account previous approaches from practice and research, an elicitation of basic requirements for a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensor system that can be embedded in concrete was carried out. Specific problems related to embedding electronic sensors in concrete and their design are investigated. Simple RFID sensor systems have been developed that allow operation without cables or batteries. The main sensor requirements are listed accordingly. Challenges and issues that need to be considered when using RFID sensors in concrete are described. Finally, the “life cycle” of a sensor system embedded in reinforced concrete is briefly discussed.

Abstract (sommario):
With the new, state-of-the-art printing devices and equipment, there has been rapid growth in the counterfeiting of banknotes. Traditional security features on banknotes are easy targets for counterfeiters, and they can easily imitate the original banknotes with fake ones. Conventional methods for validating currency require specialized devices for the authentication of banknotes. However, cost and lack of mobility of sophisticated banknote validation devices are big problems for general consumers. Modern digital solutions are attempting to complement the traditional security features through embedding radio frequency identification (RFID) chips in the banknotes, for example, Euro currency. Unfortunately, the requirement of specialized RFID readers for banknote validation impedes their widespread proliferation among consumers. To overcome this problem, a new method of banknote validation using an RFID chip and an NFC-enabled smartphone is presented. The consumer sends a banknote validation request to the Monetary Agency (MA) using her or his smartphone and an Internet connection. TheMAreplies by sending a random challenge to the consumer’s smartphone. The RFID chip in the banknote receives the challenge, via the NFC, and calculates an equivalent response to theMA’s challenge. If any of the messages are incorrect, authentication is denied. By the proposed method, consumers can easily and instantly check the originality of currency notes with theMAusing their smartphones and an Internet connection. The proposed system is less expensive, computationally, than regular methods and preserves the privacy of people who carry banknotes.

Abstract (sommario):
The integration of electronics and wood is an interesting research area due to the increasing interest to add functionality into various wooden products. The passive RFID-based humidity sensor tag prototype, presented in this paper, is fabricated directly on plywood substrate to be embedded into wooden structures, by using brush-painting and photonic sintering of cost-effective silver ink. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of brush-painted antennas as sensor elements. The developed sensor tag is fully passive and small in size, meaning it can be permanently enclosed into wooden structures. In addition, the sensor tag has all the functionalities of an ordinary passive UHF RFID tag, and a peak read range of about 10 meters. The sensor performance was evaluated in normal room conditions, after two 100% relative humidity tests, and after drying in normal room conditions for 9 days. According to the results, the fabricated UHF RFID-based humidity sensor tags have a great potential to be utilized in humidity sensing applications, and also in normal automatic identification and supply chain control of various wooden products. In addition, the first results of more cost-effective brush-painted copper UHF RFID tags on plywood substrate are presented.

Abstract (sommario):
Radio frequency identification (RFID) systems are used in several applications. It is widely used in retail, corporations, and schools for several purposes such as inventory, identification, and cashless payments. The components of an RFID system include a tag and a reader. The RFID reader includes an RF module that transmits and receives signals. While the RFID tag transmits embedded signals, which is typically some form of identification. The tag is a passive component powered by the reader. The two components make use of antennas to communicate the signals with each other. The design of the antenna is an important factor to consider in the production of the RFID. The size of the antenna must be small enough to provide convenience and the gain must be strong enough to effectively transmit and receive signals between the two components. In this paper, an antenna for an RFID tag is designed using MATLAB software. The antenna to be designed must be cost-efficient and be able to radiate an acceptable gain. This research creates a dipole antenna with biconical and pyramidal horn design in RFID simulations.

Abstract: The smart landmine and restraining shoes project is an innovative solution to reduce the risk of accidental detonation of landmines. The project involves the use of an esp32 module and an RFID tag embedded in a special shoe. When the shoe with the RFID tag is placed on the landmine, it acts as a safety mechanism preventing the mine from being triggered. This technology ensures that the shoes do not trigger the landmines when army personnel steps on them. However, if a terrorist step on the shoe, the RFID tag is detected, causing the landmine to detonate and neutralize the threat.

<p>The guest book used at Brawijaya University is digital, where visitor data is stored in a MySQL database. The use of barcode systems is quite effective compared to manual books that are manual, however, the barcode is printed, so that if too often affected by friction, the barcode can be damaged, to overcome the weaknesses that are owned by the barcode, the use of RFID technology can be a new alternative , because RFID (tag) is a technology in the form of an embedded chip. This research methodology discusses the framework carried out in the development of RFID and Fingerprint as an alternative to library guest book registration.</p><p>In the implementation of NodeMCU and fingerprint sensor to the library guest book database with VB.Net GUI, it can be implemented well. Data filling on RFID cards can be done on data blocks, ie blocks other than trailer blocks and manufacturer blocks. Recording in the library guest book database can be done by comparing the registration time of students, if students register on the same day, then recording is only done once, ie at the beginning of registration. Recording can be done using queries directly embedded in the GUI, or calling functions / procedures stored in the database.</p>

Abstract (sommario):
This study explores the role of community-led governance in innovation adoption by drawing determinants of RFID waste pricing system adoption. The Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea adopted an individual-incentive based RFID waste pricing system for apartment complexes in 2013 in an effort to reduce food waste. After invention and wide usage during World War Two, RFID has received lots of intention especially in public policy field. This innovative system using RFID machines and RFID tag-embedded cards showed effectiveness in waste reduction. Residents of each apartment complex decide whether and when to adopt the RFID system. Based on innovation diffusion theory, we would like to draw which determinant factors most affect RFID pricing system adoption. Although innovation diffusion is dependent on community level, many previous studies surveyed individuals and asked them about organizational adoption. We use non-perceptional data representing the characteristics of the level of apartment complex. This study, relying on ecological variables collected from 2018 apartment complexes across 25 autonomous districts located in Seoul City, explores significant factors related to the process of the RFID adoption. According to the empirical results, there were two important determinants: how much information the government provided, and how the apartment complex residents have opportunity to gather opinion and decide the RFID pricing system adoption. We emphasize the importance of community-led governance in adopting an innovative environmental system and how community-led governance contributes to sustainable innovation adoption.

This paper focuses on an electronic toll collection (ETC) system using radio frequency identification technology (RFID). Research on ETC was started in 1992, during which RFID tags began to be widely used in vehicles to automate toll processes. The proposed RFID system uses tags that are mounted on the windshields of vehicles, through which information embedded on the tags are read by RFID readers. This eliminates the need for motorists and toll authorities to manually perform ticket payments and toll fee collection. The Data of each vehicle crossing the toll gate is stored in the website. A LCD screen is also provided for user convenience. The toll Gate arena is monitored by means of a camera at all times. Data information are also easily exchanged between the motorists and toll authorities, thereby enabling a more efficient toll collection by reducing traffic jams and eliminating possible human errors.

Abstract (sommario):
Aiming at the problems how to realize long range, high speed identification and how to integrate web with the management system in the UHF RFID applications, a UHF RFID reader system based on S3C2440 microprocessor and AS3992 UHF Reader chip is designed and implemented in this paper. By designing the RF front-end power amplifier and signal isolation circuit, the transmit power detection circuit and the antenna impedance tunable matching circuit, the transmit power reaches up to 32 dBm and the receiver SNR is improved at the same time, resulting in the stable read range reaching up to 12 meters. In order to integrate web control into the RFID management system, the reader system is transplanted into the embedded Linux OS and a web management system that is based on web server and CGI is constructed. Device drivers are developed and RFID APIs are packaged, greatly facilitating the software development and maintenance. By using the Random-Slotted anti-collision algorithm, high speed identification of ISO18000-6C RFID tags has been achieved.
