Abstract (sommario):
AbstractReviving an argument of 1849, Tom Shippey has lately maintained that the dynasty name ‘Merovingian’ in Beowulf furnishes a firm criterion for attributing an early date to the poem. He contends, using an electronic database, that a deliberate damnatio memoriae caused the name ‘Merovingian’ to fade soon after the dynasty was deposed (751); its occurrence is therefore a terminus ad quem. This article shows that the Carolingians took pains to affirm continuity with their predecessors. The first Frankish dynasty was not condemned to oblivion. Its name was well known in the ninth century and occurs repeatedly in later historiography.

Abstract (sommario):
We will discuss solutions for the most common coupled spaces in performing arts facilities—Balconies and Stages. While there are exceptions, seats in balcony and under balcony spaces sometimes have less than ideal listening conditions. For electronic and close miked sources, supplemental sound reinforcement can help to provide expected perception of the direct sound. However, perceived acoustical conditions do not match that of the main volume; the sense of engagement is compromised. Electronic Architecture incorporated in these spaces can dramatically improve listening uniformity. Additionally, the loudspeaker array can be used for supplemental sound reinforcement including film surround sound. Many multi-purpose performing arts venues do not have resources to procure, deploy, strike, or store an architectural stage shell system. A virtual shell is far more cost effective, requires less time and manpower to set up or strike, and requires far less storage space. In addition, it provides far greater acoustic variability—accommodating a wider range of performances.

Abstract (sommario):
Multinational enterprises (MNEs) are key drivers of globalization. The study investigated the performance of leading Chinese electronics MNEs, Huawei, Lenovo, and Haier, and made a comparison between Chinese electronics MNEs and American electronics MNEs along with their specifications in terms of globalization by using Asmussen’s model, Petersen’s model, Rugman’s firm-specific and country-specific advantage (FSA-CSA) matrix, and the Porter’s diamond model. Findings revealed that only Huawei is the truly global company at present; nevertheless, Lenovo and Haier are both on the right track, reaching the same status as Huawei. These firms can successfully utilize their country-specific advantages by capitalizing on China’s external partnerships and existing trade agreements. Chinese projects seem to be able to provide Chinese MNEs with the ability to maximize their opportunity to seek growth externally and enter the global market. An examination of MNE practices facilitated by American and Chinese firms imparts relevant commonalities but differences in operational practices. Small enterprises can follow the process and strategy, while policymakers will receive a suggestion to implicate an industrial-friendly policy.

Abstract (sommario):
Over the course of many years, we have successfully integrated LF components into full range electronic architecture installations. These components are typically utilized when programming includes acoustic instruments such as pipe organ, or a large orchestra (or both)—or when electronic sources producing LF energy (such as effects mapping or film screening) need to be considered. However, we have also installed LF only EA systems in several concert halls in order to optimize LF performance without the high cost associated with brick and mortar construction methods. Electronic Architecture provides the added benefit of variability necessary for multi-purpose performing arts venues.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper presents a novel wearable hybrid harvester system as a glove that contains four distinct scavenging modules of flexible transducer film, photosensitive 3D dual-gate thin-film transistor, and a particular power management box. Each single module is formed by a piezoelectric-charge-gated TFT (PCGTFT). The reported system is capable of scavenging energy from two various free of charge energy sources (Piezoelectric plus Photoelectric). Aforesaid system unlike other state-of-the-arts overcomes several key challenges in interfacing, storage and power management. Harvested energy which is administered through power and storage management system ultimately lightens a typical light emitting diode (LED), testifies capability of such glove to power up some low-power electronic devices.

Abstract (sommario):
The displacement from the essay film to the video installation has in Chris Marker one of its first and most relevant figures. The comparative study of Zapping Zone. Proposal for an imaginary television (1990) and Level Five (1997) allows for the analysis of the construction and complexification, and the deconstruction and saturation processes that take place between the most complex expression of the Markerian essay film and its transformation into the video installation. Zapping Zone responds to the embodiment of both the magmatic stage of the postmodern audiovisual era and the starting point of the filmmaker's work (documentaries, essay films, video installations, etc.), which would be the opposite of the writer’s blank page: a saturated world of images that needs to be selected, analysed and worked on in order to build meaning. Level Five offers the filmmaker’s reflection on that same reality, applied to the Battle of Okinawa, through a complex audiovisual thinking process that hybridises different types of images—documentary and fictional; analogue and electronic—devices—epistolary video diary, video game and cyberspace—and their authorial subjectivities—Laura, Laura’s lover and Chris—in order to reflect on the relationship between these audiovisual forms and spaces and the thematic axis memory-pain-oblivion.

Abstract (sommario):
I have the honour and privilege to welcome you to the Vol. 4 Issue 2 of Indian-Pacific Journal of Accounting and Finance. In Issue 2, the journal emphasises on taxation and corporate finance. In the first paper with the caption “Dividend Policy as a driver of Corporate growth in Sub-Saharan Africa: Evidence in Nigeria”, Mr Emmanuel Dare Otitolaiye (Department of Accounting, Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria) and Dr Olatunji Siyanbola (Department of Accounting, Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria) examine dividend policy as a driver of corporate growth in sub-Saharan Africa: evidence in Nigeria. The ex-post facto research design was adopted to analyse how dividend policy spur the growth of active insurance companies in the Nigerian Stock Exchange using secondary data of the sampled firms for 2007 – 2018 while utilising descriptive and inferential (regression) statistics in data analysis. The findings reveal that dividend policy (i.e., as proxied by dividend pay-out) has an insignificant negative effect on corporate growth of insurance companies in Nigeria with the controlling effect of efficiency, firm age and leverage which have a significant effect on corporate growth of insurance companies in Nigeria. Specifically, the study reveals that efficiency has a significant negative effect on corporate growth. At the same time, firm age discloses a significant positive influence on corporate growth, as leverage exerts a significant negative effect on corporate growth. In the second paper with the title “Tax structure and economic development: An infrastructural viewpoint”, Mr Okezie Uhuaba (Department of Accounting, Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria), Dr Olatunji Siyanbola (Department of Accounting, Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria) examines Nigeria's tax structure and economic development from the standpoint of infrastructural deficiencies. Also, Taro Yamane's formula was used to determine the sample size of 365. The study employed a survey research design using a structured questionnaire administered to 4200 senior tax practitioners and senior staff of the Federal Inland Revenue Service. A total of 85% of the questionnaire administered were retrieved while descriptive and inferential statistics were used for the data analysis. The study found that the tax structure had a significant positive effect on infrastructure in Nigeria. In the third paper captioned “Monthly Tax Deduction as Final Tax: The Case of Malaysian Employees”, Dr Idawati Ibrahim (Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Scool of Accountancy, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Malaysia), Associate Professor Dr Zainol Bidin (Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy, Universiti Utara Malaysia), Associate Professor Dr Natrah Saad (Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy, Universiti Utara Malaysia), Muzainah Mansor (Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy, Universiti Utara Malaysia) examine employees' issues on MTD's implementation as the final tax system in Malaysia. This study comprises a case study on MTD implementation at two institutions that remain anonymous due to confidentiality. Data were collected from 64 responses from open-ended questionnaires to employees at both institutions. The data were analysed using a thematic approach. Findings from the analysis revealed that employees’ hesitation to such a system should not be ignored. There are three main issues discovered from this study which are: lack of knowledge on MTD as final tax among employees, a burden on claiming tax reliefs and the accuracy of MTD calculation; and employer’s readiness. The findings provide evidence of the IRBM. It provides a good foundation for the IRBM to strategise mechanisms to enhance the scheme's implementation. In the fourth paper entitled “An assessment of Electronic-Auditing and economic value of the Nigerian Listed Companies”, Rebecca Deborah Benjamin (Department of Accounting, Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria), Samson Adebolu Adegbite (Department of Accounting Osun State University Osogbo, Osun State. Nigeria), Appolos Nwabuisi Nwaobia (Department of Accounting, Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria), Isoken Joy Adekunle (Department of Accounting College of Arts, Social and Management Sciences Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State) evaluate the effect of electronic-auditing by internal auditors for the improved economic value of listed companies in Nigeria. The study adopted a survey research design. The sample size of the study consisted of 24 companies selected from the eleven industrial sub-sectors (Agriculture, Conglomerates, Construction, Consumer goods, financial services, Services, Health Care, ICT, Industrial goods, Natural Resources and Oil and Gas sectors) among the 161 listed companies on the Nigerian Stock Exchange as at 30 November 2019. Random sampling technique was employed in the selection of the 24 companies with about two companies representing each sector. The research instrument was subjected to content validity and reliability test, which yielded Cronbach’s alpha coefficient value of 0.80. The findings revealed that electronic-auditing had a positive and significant effect on the economic value of listed companies in Nigeria. In the fifth paper with the title “Auditing Concepts and Stakeholders’ Expectations”, Mr Michael Oludare Oladiran Ajala (Department of Accounting, Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria) and Professor Dr S. A. Owolabi (Department of Accounting, Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria) feature a contemporary debate to resolve mixed feelings and misplaced perceptions of auditing concepts in filing widened expectation gaps of auditor's expression of opinion. Contributing to the argument involves a detailed review of auditing concepts, and broadening the understanding and educating the stakeholders on the essence of auditing. In this consideration, the study employed an exploratory research approach, reviewed related materials, journals, and periodicals in the field of auditing and financial accounting. The outcome of the review showed that Auditing concepts are specific and inclusive. Auditors are guided by these concepts and standards set out by the international standards on auditing. While these concepts are valid, there are divergences and misconceptions of what stakeholders expect from the audited financial statements. The study recommended that stakeholders require audit education and understand the essence of auditors’ reporting dilemma of regulated auditing guidelines or go beyond the auditing standards to please the stakeholders’ expectations. As you read through this Volume 4 Issue 2 of IPJAF, I would like to encapsulate that the success of the journal depends on your active participation and those of your colleagues and friends through submission of high-quality articles within the journal scope for review and publication. I implore our revered authors to enjoy the benefits IPJAF provides about mentoring nature of the unique review process that offers high quality and helpful reviews tailored to improving their manuscripts. Abstract (sommario):
Over the past few years, Sr2IrO4, a single-layer member of the Ruddlesden–Popper series iridates, has received much attention as a close analog of cuprate high-temperature superconductors. Although there is not yet firm evidence for superconductivity, a remarkable range of cuprate phenomenology has been reproduced in electron- and hole-doped iridates including pseudogaps, Fermi arcs, and d-wave gaps. Furthermore, many symmetry-breaking orders reminiscent of those decorating the cuprate phase diagram have been reported using various experimental probes. We discuss how the electronic structures of Sr2IrO4 through strong spin-orbit coupling leads to the low-energy physics that had long been unique to cuprates, what the similarities and differences between cuprates and iridates are, and how these advance the field of high-temperature superconductivity by isolating essential ingredients of superconductivity from a rich array of phenomena that surround it. Finally, we comment on the prospect of finding a new high-temperature superconductor based on the iridate series.

Abstract (sommario):
Improvement of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and their rapid proliferation for military purposes have led to a significant increase in the role of UAVs on the battlefield, creating a problem of insufficient capabilities of air defence systems for combat units. Consequently, there is an urgent need to reconsider the concept of air defence for deployed units during combat operations. The solution of this problem is complicated by the necessity of using significant material resources, continuous improvement of both UAVs and their tactical applications, as well as the possibility of creating situations when specialized air-defence capabilities cannot be employed due to various reasons. In certain cases, due to the destruction of air-defence capabilities by the enemy, depletion of ammunition, or insufficient air-defence capabilities for a military unit, the only UAVs` countercapability can be the small arms of a unit. Therefore, despite the high potential of modern air-defence capabilities and electronic warfare systems against UAVs, in specific cases, the available small arms of a unit can be an effective air-defence capability. The main aerial targets that are most suitable for engagement with small arms fire are small UAVs (nano UAVs, micro UAVs, mini UAVs, light UAVs for frontline surveillance, light UAVs with short flight range), which at certain moments move at low speeds regarding to the aiming axis. Cases of firing with large values of the target's angle, leading to a significant decrease in firing efficiency, are not considered by the firing rules and sighting devices of small arms` main samples. As a result, the probability of hitting the target decreases several times and reaches unacceptably low values. Under such conditions, achieving a hit on the target with an acceptable probability can only be ensured by adjusting the aiming point by a certain amount, but this value is not provided in the operational documentation or training literature, thus remaining unknown to the small-arms men. Therefore, need for improving the sighting devices of small arms firing with large values of the aerial target's angle (60…90°) and development of firing rules in order to ensure effective fire against such low-altitude aerial targets are the relevant tasks.

Whether described as adaptations, documentations, translations, or transcriptions, the video cassettes which allow us to see performances on video are proliferating. Not always easily available for begging, borrowing, or buying, not always willingly turned over by the theatre companies who hold them for in-house use, often lost or erased by television channels, and always beleaguered with copyright problems, these electronic arts ‘documents’ are none the less causing a revolution in teaching, rehearsal methods, and research. In what constitutes a first detailed mapping of the territory, Annabelle Melzer's two-part article deals with the theoretical and aesthetic questions surrounding performance documentation, with some of the hands-on issues of such filming – and with her own journey to seek out the documents themselves. Annabelle Melzer, Associate Professor of Theatre at the University of Tel Aviv, is completing ten years of research on the adaptation and documentation of theatre through moving image documents. Abstract (sommario):
Zhang Yimou’s Hero presents an action hero, yet in a slightly different cinematic mode than that of Stephen Chow-directed Shaolin Soccer to blend myth and modernity. In Yimou’s martial arts cinema, Jet Li-starred Nameless hero uses martial arts to combat the king’s adversaries, including Donnie Yen-starred Long Sky, Maggie Cheung-starred Flying Snow and Tony Leung Chiu-Wai-starred Broken Sword in the service to the Qin Dynasty (221 BC – 207 BC). The warrior hero’s indigenous body art helps the Qin Dynasty transform the smaller warring kingdoms into a powerful Chinese Empire, a strong foundation of modern China with economic and military superpower. Like their western counterparts, including T1000 and Neo, the Hong Kong action heroes, such as the warrior hero and the Qin King have been refashioned in the Hollywood controlled twentieth-century popular culture. Different from their Hollywood counterparts in actions, the Hong Kong action heroes in Hero primarily use their trained bodies and martial skills to promote the Chinese civilization, an adaptation of the Hollywood tradition of technologized machine body. Reworking of myth and archetype in Nameless’s service to the Qin Dynasty and the emperor’s mission to incept the Chinese Empire, the Hong Kong action heroes appear on screen, a blend of tradition and modernity. The film industry’s projection of the Chinese history with the legendary action heroes, including Nameless soldier and the Qin King globalizes the indigenous Chinese culture by using modern electronic digital technology, a resonance of the western technological advancement.

Its appearance is approximately timed to commemorate the 15 years since the establishment of the Department on October 1st, 1995. In step with the developments in media and new modes of dissemination of the results of scholarly research, it is introduced as an on-line electronic publication. In the past 15 years, Asian Studies which were initially represented by Chinese and Japanese Studies, seem to have established a firm foothold in Slovenia. In addition to the existing Chinese Studies and Japanese Studies, the University of Ljubljana introduced in December 2010 new academic areas of Turkish Studies, Iranian Studies, Indian Studies and Korean Studies, thus giving green light to the establishment of systematic research of Asian issues within a wider framework. In the meantime, the body of researchers specializing in Asian languages has also grown, including teachers, visiting professors, researchers and graduate students who cover a wide spectrum of research fields. Also, the recent reform of higher education along the Bologna guidelines, although criticized, has happily brought into existence the interdisciplinary Doctoral Program in Humanities and Social Sciences and within its fold, the joint Doctoral program in Linguistics. The Journal Acta Linguistica Asiatica is thus emerging in a period of lively ferment, where unifying the field of discourse within language studies and at the same time opening it more widely to research in humanities and social sciences will undoubtedly have a long term impact on Asian language research at the University of Ljubljana.Serving as a focal point of research on Asian languages in Slovenia, Acta Linguistica Asiatica will at the same time strive to promote cooperation in the field of Asian language research internationally in Europe, Asia and beyond. Acta Linguistica Asiatica will, following Roman Jakobson’s saying, “Linguista sum, linguistici nihil a me alienum puto”, cover all the subject areas and theoretical approaches pertaining to theoretical and applied research on Asian languages. An international editorial board takes care of the research quality of the journal. The contents of the first issue reflect this orientation and openness. Three papers deal with various aspects of the role played by language in the process of modernization during and after Meiji Japan, i.e., The Relation Between the View on the Language and Educational Ideology in the Early Meiji Period in Japan Through the Discourse of Regionalism by Ichimiya Yufuko, Towards Theoretical Approach to the Understanding of Language Ideologies in Post-Meiji Japan by Luka Culiberg, and Images of Pre-WW II: National Language Policies as Reflected in the Field of “National Language Studies” Itself by Andrej Bekeš.Another focus of interest is philological, represented by two papers. One is Morphology and Syntax in Holes and Scratches: The Latest Stage of Kugyol Research, an interesting research on kugyol, a system devised to facilitate reading Chinese Buddhist texts in Korean, by Lee Yong. The other,The Typology of Āmreḍita Compounds in the Ṛgveda by Tamara Ditrich, investigates āmreḍita compounds in the Ṛgveda, a type of coordinative nominal constructions, closely related to dvandva compounds. Finally, this issue is concluded with the article Collocational Relations in Japanese Language Textbooks and Computer-assisted Language Learning Resources, by Irena Srdanović and deals with the teaching of collocations in modern Japanese, based on corpora. Abstract (sommario):
Whether described as adaptations, documentations, translations, or transcriptions, the video cassettes which allow us to see performances on video are proliferating. Not always easily available for begging, borrowing, or buying, not always willingly turned over by the theatre companies who hold them for in-house use, often lost or erased by television channels, and always beleaguered with copyright problems, these electronic arts ‘documents’ are none the less causing a revolution in teaching, rehearsal methods, and research. In what constitutes a first detailed mapping of the territory, Annabelle Melzer's two-part article, of which the first part appeared in NTQ42 (May 1995), deals with the theoretical and aesthetic questions surrounding performance documentation, with some of the hands-on issues of such filming – and with her own journey to seek out the documents themselves. Annabelle Melzer, Associate Professor of Theatre at the University of Tel Aviv, is completing ten years of research on the adaptation and documentation of theatre through moving image documents. Shakespeare on Screen, the first volume of her multi-volume filmography, Theatre on Screen, appeared in 1991, receiving the Choice and American Library Association awards as outstanding reference book of that year. Her articles on avant-garde performance have appeared in Artforum, Theatre Research International, and Comparative Drama, and her Hazan Prize-winning book Dada and Surrealist Performance has recently been reissued by Johns Hopkins University Press. She is at present writing a book on the theatricality of war.

Abstract (sommario):
The actual task of the aiming equipment manufacturers is to develop autonomous models of optical sights capable of independently measuring and analyzing input parameters in combat conditions and on their basis to make corrections to the guidance system and aiming mechanisms. The aim of the study was to investigate methods for increasing the efficiency of the dual-channel opto-electronic sight of the DNS-1 model for small arms by analyzing the degree of influence of external environmental factors determining the trajectory of a bullet flight and the accuracy of its hit into the target. The variant of the practical implementation of the DNS-1 sight with an integrated ballistic computer, taking into account: wind speed and direction, target location angle, ambient temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure is considered. Evaluation of the rigidity and stability of the sight design was made when fastening it to the receiver along the «swallowtail» guide and on the «Picatinny» bar. In the variant with Picatinny rail, the loads are smaller and distributed more evenly along the line of the body of the sight. Calculations of the trajectory of the bullet from the cartridge 7Н10 with a caliber of 5.45 mm for the AK74Н at distances of 300 and 1000 m were carried out. At a distance of 300 m and at a value exceeding 53.2 cm, the throwing angle remains practically unchanged and lies within 0.2°. For long distances up to 1000 m, the ballistic angle increases to 3°. A method for measuring wind load using a thermal anemometer based on the Dantec Dynamics 55P11 sensor is proposed. Optimization of the anemometer housing design was performed and wind load simulation was performed, wind field velocity distribution was obtained in the aerodynamic blowdown of the anemometer assembly in the range from 2 to 20 m/s. A method is proposed for measuring the angle of the target site using an accelerometer based on the SCA830-D07 sensor with an accuracy of 0.00179°.The presented research results show the possibility of creating a complex automated fire control system for small arms.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract. The need for uncooled infrared focal plane arrays (IRFPA) for imaging systems has increased since the beginning of the nineties. Examples for the application of IRFPAs are thermography, pedestrian detection for automotives, fire fighting, and infrared spectroscopy. It is very important to have a correct electro-optical model for the simulation of the microbolometer during the development of the readout integrated circuit (ROIC) used for IRFPAs. The microbolometer as the sensing element absorbs infrared radiation which leads to a change of its temperature due to a very good thermal insulation. In conjunction with a high temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of the sensing material (typical vanadium oxide or amorphous silicon) this temperature change results in a change of the electrical resistance. During readout, electrical power is dissipated in the microbolometer, which increases the temperature continuously. The standard model for the electro-optical simulation of a microbolometer includes the radiation emitted by an observed blackbody, radiation emitted by the substrate, radiation emitted by the microbolometer itself to the surrounding, a heat loss through the legs which connect the microbolometer electrically and mechanically to the substrate, and the electrical power dissipation during readout of the microbolometer (Wood, 1997). The improved model presented in this paper takes a closer look on additional radiation effects in a real IR camera system, for example the radiation emitted by the casing and the lens. The proposed model will consider that some parts of the radiation that is reflected from the casing and the substrate is also absorbed by the microbolometer. Finally, the proposed model will include that some fraction of the radiation is transmitted through the microbolometer at first and then absorbed after the reflection at the surface of the substrate. Compared to the standard model temperature and resistance of the microbolometer can be modelled more realistically when these higher order effects are taken into account. A Verilog-A model for electronic circuit simulations is developed based on the improved thermal model of the microbolometer. Finally, a simulation result of a simple circuit is presented.

Abstract (sommario):
Rotation detection is widely applied in industries. The current commonly used rotation detection system adopts a split structure, which requires stringent installation requirements and is difficult to miniaturize. This paper proposes a single-piece self-powered non-contact sensor with an interdigital sensitive layer to detect the rotation of objects. The electric field generated between a polyurethane (PU) film and a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film is utilized for perceiving the rotation. The surface of the PU film is subjected to wet etching with sulfuric acid to increase the surface area and charge density. Through finite element analysis and experimental testing, the effects of the areas of the sensitive films as well as the horizontal and vertical distances between them on the output voltage are analyzed. Tests are performed on adjustable-speed motors, human arms, and robotic arms. The results show that the sensor can detect the speed, the transient process of rotation, and the swing angle. The proposed rotation sensor has broad application prospects in the fields of mechanical automation, robotics, and Internet of Things (IoT).

Abstract (sommario):
Mathematical support for constructing the relief of a shooting range from an image with support for the height and range of each point and taking into account the screening of targets by folds terrain for tactical optical-electronic simulator of the small arms 'Inhibitor' developed at Institute of mechanics UdmFRC UB RAS and at Computer facilities department of Kalashnikov ISTU jointly with JSC «Kalashnikov Concern» was described. The tactical and technical task for the functional capabilities of implementing the relief of the shooting range is given: hills, ravines, mountains at a distance of up to 2 km in the sector up to 60°, shielding targets with folds of the area. A relief model is proposed in the form of a bilinear interpolated matrix of heights with a pitch of 10 m, and an editor is developed that allows interactively specifying range boundaries and terrain height along the front on the image of the shooting range. Screening the visibility of targets by folds of the terrain is implemented using the central projection of all relief profiles for a single workplace of shooters, and for the implementation of trenches, a mechanism for the height of the target above the surface of the shooting range is proposed, which optimizes the 'quality-speed' ratio. Studies of the «projector-screen-observer» system showed the presence of factors of errors in the virtual shooting range, some of which are of a fundamental nature, and the rest can be compensated for by the regression model of the target point recorder and taking into account its cumulative error by reducing the tabular ballistic dispersion of simulated shots. Based on the prospects for further research and development of electronic shooting simulators and thanks to the improvement of computing tools and the development of software graphics libraries, it is necessary to expand the functionality of the simulators and reduce the cost, which means to increase competitiveness, for example, improving the realism of simulating the terrain of the shooting range with screening of targets by folds of the terrain.

Abstract (sommario):
Achievements marked by the tenth anniversary of the Journal of African Cinemas is the focus of this retrospective on the origins and development of the publication. The key question addressed is how to ensure that the inclusion of films and film theory by resident Africans can be made integral to the re-envisioning of the whole field. In answering this question, the overview examines the journal’s initial objectives and how they have been met. Editorial board members and guest editors were canvassed for their impressions, and a numerical analysis of author locations is plotted. The findings reveal a significant African presence now in studies of African films and in the composition of the journal’s authorship and editorial boards. The geographical spread of national and regional studies across the entire continent, sometimes in translation, from Arabic northern Africa to multilingual southern Africa is a key feature of the journal’s success. The conclusions reached are that the journal has successfully integrated African-based scholarship onto the world’s stage, has enabled the study of African film to link from its previous African studies’ epistemological location to now also be considered as film studies per se and new electronic distribution facilities have catalysed post-theory approaches that transcend the Cold War binaries of ‘Third Cinema’, national cinema’, ‘national culture’ and other twentieth-century categories.

Abstract (sommario):
The magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) model of the alternating current (AC) arc is complex, so a simplified equivalent heat source (EHS) model can be used to replace the complex model in studying the AC arc’s thermal characteristics and cable fire risk. A 2D axisymmetric AC arc MHD simulation model in the short gap of a copper-core cable is established in this paper. The AC arc voltage and current obtained by the model are consistent with experiments. The AC arc’s heat source distribution obtained by the MHD model is fitted to obtain the heat source function Q of the AC arc. Q is divided into 16 independent segmented heat sources, and a correction matrix is constructed to optimize the segmented heat sources. A neural network and a genetic algorithm give the prediction model and the optimal correction matrix of the segmented heat source. The EHS model optimized by the optimal correction matrix can obtain a minimum temperature error of 5.8/4.4/4.2% with the MHD model in different AC arc peak currents 2/4/6 A. The probability of a cable fire is calculated by using AC arc’s optimized EHS model when different numbers of AC arcs are generated randomly in AC half-waves. The EHS model can replace the complex MHD model to study the thermal characteristics of AC arcs and quickly calculate the probability of a cable fire caused by random AC arcs.

Abstract (sommario):
This study was aimed to musical analyze the status and early film Themes of Paik Young ho. This study analyzed 38 film scores by year and collaboration musicians. This study focused on investigating the structural, melodic, rhythmic, and formal characteristics of the 37 scores, as well as the relationship between lyrics and melody. This results revealed that Paik composed scores for 38 themes in 21 films and collaborated with numerous figures from popular arts. At this time, elements such as the 7-tone scale, sequential progressions of major 2nd intervals, triads, and choral songs reflected the trends in Korean popular music. However, the characteristics of Paik's film themes during this period were marked by high pitches and wide vocal ranges, frequent jumps of 4th intervals, abrupt leaps of 7th to 10th intervals, intentionally used irregularities, and distinctive compositional techniques. The intensified film score activities during this period continued and led to Paik's musical prime, marked by “Dongbaek Agassi.”

Abstract (sommario):
The relevance of the study is emphasised by the need to investigate and develop effective strategies for protecting critical state infrastructure in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war of 2022. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of interaction between the means of physical and electronic influence in the context of protecting critical infrastructure facilities of the energy sector from air strikes. The object of research is the system of protection of critical facilities of the state’s energy sector. Research methods included the use of system analysis, the development of strategies for determining the optimal locations of the means of physical influence, and the use of mathematical modelling. Research in the field of interaction and simultaneous use of physical and radio-electronic means included a theoretical analysis of abstract objects and their relationships. These objects were designed to create an idealised description and investigate possible scenarios, as well as to determine optimal actions in specific situations. This study examined in detail the possibilities of improving the effectiveness of protecting important energy facilities from air strikes through the use of combined strategies such as anti-aircraft fire and fire protection. Methods for determining the optimal locations of the means of physical influence were analysed, which allowed predicting expected results when using them together. It was developed evidence-based recommendations for the effective integration of these methods, which is an innovative approach to the problem. The means of physical influence included small arms, which were part of the armament of the Armed Forces, and interceptor drones. Electronic means of influence included technical means of radio frequency warfare and electromagnetic guns. The practical significance of this study lies in the fact that it presents specific strategies and technological solutions for comprehensive protection of critical infrastructure facilities from air strikes. This paper can serve as a basis for developing effective security and protection policies in countries and regions, helping to improve overall sustainability and security

Abstract (sommario):
The study examined the effect of a computerized accounting system (CAS) on the organisational performance of oil and gas firms in Port-Harcourt, Nigeria. The study adopts the survey research design. The survey enabled the researcher to obtain information from respondents about practices, situations or views via questionnaires. The population comprised of hundred staff of five randomly selected Oil and Gas firms in Port Harcourt, Rivers State with a capital base of above 500 million. The unit of focus was personnel in the Accounting/Finance and the IT/ICT Department of the respective companies. The study is based on primary data obtained from a structured questionnaire administered to respondents. The reliability of the instrument was measured using Cronbach’s alpha. The data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The hypotheses were tested using simple linear regression. The results showed a positive significant effect of accounting software usage on accountability, productivity, and cost control in oil and gas firms. Based on this the study recommends the use of electronic mediums and other alternative channels (such as cloud computing frameworks) for storing financial information to ensure the safeguarding of such information and prevent data loss. The deployment of CAS in functional departments to boost the efficiency of service delivery in addition to linkage to the overall organisational ICT framework can enable the speedy generation of internal and external financial reports.

Abstract (sommario):
Twenty years after he came to prominence via a series of provocative, ground-breaking music videos, Chris Cunningham remains a troubling, elusive figure within British visual culture. His output – which includes short films, advertisements, art gallery commissions, installations, music production and a touring multi-screen live performance – is relatively slim, and his seemingly slow work rate (and tendency to leave projects uncompleted or unreleased) has been a frustration for fans and commentators, particularly those who hoped he would channel his interests and talents into a full-length ‘feature’ film project. There has been a diverse critical response to his musical sensitivity, his associations with UK electronica culture – and the Warp label in particular – his working relationship with Aphex Twin, his importance within the history of the pop video and his deployment of transgressive, suggestive imagery involving mutated, traumatised or robotic bodies. However, this article makes a claim for placing Cunningham within discourses of British art cinema. It proposes that the many contradictions that define and animate Cunningham's work – narrative versus abstraction, political engagement versus surrealism, sincerity versus provocation, commerce versus experimentation, art versus craft, a ‘British’ sensibility versus a transnational one – are also those that typify a particular terrain of British film culture that falls awkwardly between populism and experimentalism.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose This paper aims to focus on the fabrication and characterization of mixed thin-/thick-film thermoelectric microgenerators, based on magnetron sputtered constantan (copper–nickel alloy) and screen-printed silver. To improve the adhesion of the constantan layer to the applied substrates, the additional chromium sublayer was used. The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of chromium sublayer on the electrical and thermoelectric properties of such hybrid microgenerators. Design/methodology/approach Fabrication of such structures consisted of several steps – magnetron sputtering of the chromium and then constantan layer, exposing the first arms of thermocouples, applying the second arms by screen-printing technology and firing the prepared structures in a belt furnace. The structures were made both on Al2O3 (alumina) and low temperature co-fired ceramics (LTCC) substrates. Findings To the best of the authors’ knowledge, for the first time, laser ablation process was applied to fabricate the first arms of thermocouples from a layer of constantan only or constantan with a chromium sublayer. Geometric measurements have shown that the mapping of mask pattern by laser ablation technique is very accurate. Originality/value The determined Seebeck coefficient of the realized structures was about 40.4 µV/K. After firing the exemplary structures at 850°C peak temperature, Seebeck coefficient is increased to an average value of 51 µV/K.

Abstract (sommario):
This article examines historical transformations in the relationship between the image, time, and knowledge after the war. One site to investigate these changes in representation is at the locus of science, design, film and architecture in the works of Charles and Ray Eames and Gyorgy Kepes for the Center for Advanced Visual Study at MIT and in the interests of science education. In these works, including many science education and pedagogy films, the nature of the image, the materiality of vision, and the relationship between documentation and communication were being aggressively rethought. All these projects were deeply invested in the emergent terms of cybernetics and electronic media. Ontology, documentation, and representation were seemingly replaced by discourses of communication, performance, and modularity; the world as interface for the mediation of ongoing, lively communicative exchanges. The work of Charles and Ray Eames and Gyorgy Kepes provides evidence of a more global reformulation of the work of the document, the relationship between abstraction and materiality, and among science, aesthetics, and visuality.

Abstract (sommario):
In manufacturing microelectronic and optoelectronic devices, thin solid films of various sorts are routinely deposited and etched using low pressure, weakly ionized plasmas. The term “plasma” in this context implies an ionized gas with nearly equal numbers of positive and negative charges. This definition is not very restrictive, so. there are an enormous number of phenomena that are termed plasmas. For example, very hot, magnetized, fully ionized plasmas exist in stellar environments and thermonuclear fusion experiments. High temperature electric arcs are a form of plasma as well. In contrast, the plasmas used in electronic materials processing are near room temperature and the gas is usually weakly ionized. Indeed, due to the sensitivity of electronic devices to high temperatures, their low operating temperature is one of the major advantages of plasma processes.Plasma processing is attractive because of two important physiochemical effects: energetic free electrons in the plasma (heated by applied electric fields) dissociate the neutral gas in the plasma to create chemically reactive species; and free positive ions are accelerated by the plasma electric fields to surfaces bounding the plasma. Reactive species created in the plasma diffuse to surfaces and adsorb; wafers to be processed are typically placed on one of these surfaces. The combination of neutral species adsorption and positive ion bombardment results in surface chemical reaction. If the products of the surface reaction are volatile, they leave the surface and etching results. If the products are involatile, a surface film grows.

Abstract (sommario):
With the rapid growth of the photovoltaic industry, fire incidents in photovoltaic systems are becoming increasingly concerning as they pose a serious threat to their normal operation. Research findings indicate that direct current (DC) fault arcs are the primary cause of these fires. DC arcs are characterized by high temperature, intense heat, and short duration, and they lack zero crossing or periodicity features. Detecting DC fault arcs in intricate photovoltaic systems is challenging. Hence, researching DC fault arcs in photovoltaic systems is of crucial significance. This paper discusses the application of mathematical morphology for detecting DC fault arcs. The system utilizes a multi-stage mathematical morphology filter, and experimental results have shown its effective extraction of fault arc features. Subsequently, we propose a method for detecting DC fault arcs in photovoltaic systems using a cyclic neural network, which is well-suited for time series processing tasks. By combining multiple features extracted from experiments, we trained the neural network and achieved high accuracy. This experiment demonstrates that our recurrent neural network (RNN) based scheme for DC fault arc recognition has significant reference value and implications for future research. The ROC curve on the test set approaches 1 from the initial state, and the accuracy on the test set remains at 98.24%, indicating the strong robustness of the proposed model.

Abstract (sommario):
This artistic doctoral research examines how the third space emerging from intercultural dialogue and transcultural collaboration can be a catalyst for new musical discoveries, intercultural humility, and the (re)forming of artistic identities. The body of this project is centred around three doctoral concerts, a CD/LP recording, and a documentary film which took place between 2016 and 2021. In addition, I draw on the embodied experience of a five-year period that I spent living and collaborating with musicians and dancers in Tanzania and Zambia prior to the doctoral project. As a double bass player, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, I place myself in a series of different musical and multi-arts contexts, engaging in dialogue with musicians, dancers, and visual artists from Brazil, Colombia, Estonia, Finland, France, Madagascar, Mexico, Poland, Sápmi, Tanzania, the UK and Zambia. Various solo, duo, and ensemble settings act as case studies to examine how this process takes place, the new knowledge gained from the collaborations and their resulting artistic outcomes, and the effects of intercultural dialogue, collaboration, and co-creation on my own artistic identity. The instruments and forms of artistic expression used by my collaborators include the Brazilian berimbau, Chinese guzheng, dance, live electronics, experimental instrument making, Finnish Saarijärvi kantele, Sámi joik, vocals, percussion, live visuals, image manipulation, animation, photography and film. The key concepts that I investigate in this research are: artistic identity, global citizenship, hybridity, interculturalism, intercultural humility, liminality, third space theory, and resonance, the latter being viewed both as a physical phenomenon and as an approach to thinking about the ways in which we connect with the world around us. This research contributes to new knowledge and understandings in the areas of artistic identity formation, intercultural collaboration and interculturalism in music education through the interweaving of artistic processes, audio, video, photographs, artistic outcomes and text.Findings emerge in terms of new musical discoveries that surface from the dynamic third space created through transcultural collaboration; the expanding and deepening of musicianship through intercultural dialogue and collaboration; the interconnected nature of interculturalism in music and its reliance on openness, empathy, dialogue and constantnegotiation with sonic material, people and place; and the crucial role of fluidity and resonance in forming a personal artistic identity.Further research outcomes include new techniques and the expansion of the sonic palette of the double bass, enabled by developing custom-made attachments, preparations and electronic manipulation. The complete scope of this doctoral project includes four artistic components (three concerts and a recording), a documentary film and an artistic doctoral thesis comprising two peer-reviewed articles and an integrative chapter, all housed within the main multi-media exposition, Resonance: (Re)forming an Artistic Identity through Intercultural Dialogue and Collaboration.

Abstract (sommario):
Modern business trends create new requirements for the use of innovative tools for searching and generating ideas in order to increase the efficiency of enterprises. It is creativity that contributes to the personal and professional self-development and self-improvement of the company’s employees. Analyzing the research of recent years in the field of management, it can be emphasized that in order to achieve important organizational results, such as innovation, growth and management success, it is creativity that is important. Key industries in the creative economy include: advertising, architecture, arts and crafts, design, fashion, film, video, photography, music, performing arts, publishing, research and development, software, computer games, electronic publishing, television and radio. The era of informational and intellectual development became the era of the XXI century, which was marked by the transition from rationality to creativity. The concept of the “creative class” offers a new way of understanding the mechanisms of wealth creation. In the period of the “post-industrial” economy, the new driving forces of economic development are the “super creative core” (including artists, designers) and “creative professionals” (including managers, lawyers). Organizational management is complex and multidimensional in nature. It combines a number of elements, activities and processes aimed at achieving the organization’s goals. Amidst a rapidly changing business landscape, organizations are moving forward from the classic criteria of cost and performance to integrating creativity and innovation for overall efficiency. Such integration involves the study and implementation of concepts at different functional levels of management for the development of the creative potential of enterprises. Development of creative solutions at the enterprise involves market research and analysis, generation of new ideas, evaluation of alternatives and implementation of innovative solutions. Creative management is what is needed in the 21st century in order for the business to stay afloat and maintain its competitive advantage. The main skill that managers are looking for in skilled workers today is creativity. Creativity management ensures the development of an individual's creative skills, his ability to generate fundamentally new ideas and bring them to a concrete result. That is why the achievement of the goals and objectives of creative management requires improvement of the tools for the development and implementation of innovative solutions.

Abstract (sommario):
Jazz musicians crossing boundaries between music, theatre and spoken word are rare. In general, musicians tend to shy away from speaking and acting. Apart from isolated incidents like New York pianist Cecil Taylor’s engagement in dance and poetic recitation during concerts or the antics of the Dutch ICP orchestra, most performers believe that on stage their music is sufficient. In Québec, the musicians grouped under the collective umbrella of musique actuelle, however, explicitly search out means to overstep the boundaries of traditional jazz in order to bring to the stage new intersections between creative sound and non-musical art forms. The very nature of musique actuelle is to maintain an open format in terms of musical genre (integrating jazz, electronics, noise etc.), instruments (traditional, forged or found objects) and creative process (composed or improvised music) with the implied objective that this music is actuelle (at the cutting-edge of culture in a general sense). Listening, reacting to their own social experiences, these musicians, over the years, have set out to redefine contemporary jazz. One of the ways they have done so is through a cross-fertilization with other art forms such as film, theatre, cabaret and dance.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Richard Locke, Ben Armstrong, Samantha Schaab-Rozbicki, and Geordie Young speculate that COVID-related challenges might lead firms to shift their assumptions about workers in ways that open up new political-economic possibilities, with benefits for workers in safety, compensation, and voice. I am skeptical about the idea of such COVID-induced learning. Drawing on an analysis of the costs of high turnover in the electronics supply chain, however, I argue that more generous assumptions about workers appear to have operational benefits. Understanding those operational benefits might lead firms to be less resistant to demands from workers for the kinds of jobs that Locke and his coauthors celebrate.
