Introduction. The subjects and actors of social re- ality have entered the digital age. This is expressed at several levels: first of all, in objects and technol- ogy, also at the level of everyday life of a modern person and social groups and worldview in general. A philosopher, like no one else, is capable of seeing such transformations and their subsequent reflec- tion. This reflection is carried out simultaneously in the bosom of classical social and humanitarian disciplines, including philosophy, sociology, cultural studies, for example, and in the space of new areas of scientific knowledge. Such a new discipline, the focus of which is digital, is digital anthropology. The article presents a summary of the speeches of the leading speakers of the methodological school “Digital Anthropology: Theoretical and Applied As- pects”, which took place in May 2022 at South Ural State University. The purpose of the article is to identify and to analyze possible directions of philosophical reflec- tion of the digital in the context of conceptualizing digital anthropology. Methods. The study is based on general scientific methods, analysis and synthesis, induction, deduc- tion, abstraction. The analysis of the speeches of the speakers of the methodological school “Digital Anthropology: Theoretical and Applied Aspects” was carried out primarily on the basis of the interpreta- tion method and systematic approach. Scientific novelty of the study. The article pre- sents specific steps in building a discourse about digital through analyzing the speeches by Russian philosophers and their subsequent discussion within the framework of the work of the methodo- logical school “Digital Anthropology: Theoretical and Applied Aspects”. Results. The exposition of speeches within the framework of the methodological section varied thematically from the ontological, anthropological and axiological aspects of digitalization to specific cases of Internet Studies. As part of the work of the methodological school, the following topics were presented: “The problem of values in digital culture” (Yury Yu. Vetutnev), “Impact content in social media” (Sophia V. Tikhonova), “Construction of ideas about the past in social media” (Denis S. Artamonov), “Repost and like as “alternatives” to traditional scientometrics” (Elena E. Chebo- tareva), “Value-semantic dimension of subjectivity: opportunities and threats of the digital society” (Sergey V. Borisov), “Digital literacy in conditions of surveillance capitalism and Network-centric war- fare” (Kirill E. Rezvushkin), “Feature films and digital technologies: the future of one illusion” (Taras A. Varkhotov). Conclusion. In the work of the methodological school, a wide range of problems related to digital everyday life was identified. These problems actual- ize the axiological, social, anthropological optics of research. All participants of the school showed from different perspectives that new tasks arose for philosophy to comprehend and conceptualize the changing reality. The philosopher, living in the digital space, is able to reflect on the digital and build a discourse about it. In our opinion, the con- cept of digital anthropology claims to take the place of such a discourse.

According to the current trends of the ICT development, digital transformation is becoming a key requirement in many social spheres. Digital technologies have proven their importance not only by significantly increasing efficiency of activities, but also by their general convenience and broad opportunities for users. The transition to digital principles is especially important in the field of social protection as it determines the welfare of the popula- tion, social security and social stability of the country, especially in crisis conditions. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the strategic foundations of the formation of digital social protection of the population in Ukraine, and its object is the system of social protection. The research methodology is based on a comparative analysis of the global and domestic practices of social protection on a digital basis and content analysis of the legal framework for the digital transformation of the social sphere in Ukraine. The study showed that the global prerequisites for the digitalization of social protection, as well as national factors, on the one hand, accelerated the implementa- tion of digital technologies for the provision of social assistance in Ukraine, and on the other hand, inhibited and underestimated the possibilities of their successful use. Digital technologies, which are widely used in the provi- sion of public services, also prove their effectiveness in the practice of social protection and have significant ad- vantages compared to its traditional form. However, the processes of digitalization of financial and non-financial components of social protection – social payments and social services – have certain differences due to different organizational procedures and technological processes. Social e-services created in Ukraine only partially cover the components of the social protection system that exist in Ukraine. Therefore, the results of the study are aimed at building a successful social protection system based on a single digital system.

This study aims to investigate the future of art education using digital media by analyzing the media dis-courses of Benjamin, McLuhan, and Flusser and the 2022 revised Art Education Curriculum. The research analyzed the contents of digital media in the 2022 revised Art Education Curriculum and identified seven key elements, which were then linked to the content of media discourse to suggest three directions. The study confirmed that the 2022 revised Korea National Art Curriculum considers expanding senses, percep-tion, and experience through the use of digital media, online and offline linked classes, visual communica-tion, and ethical approaches. The three directions of art education using digital media are 'changes in the way digital media are accepted,' 'interaction between senses and media,' and 'technological imagination'. The study advocates for embracing new changes in media, pursuing the expansion of humans through the interaction between senses and media, and the technological imagination based on the device literacy of digital media and human imagination.

L’articolo propone una riflessione sullo stato dell’arte del romanzo italiano nel mondo digi- tale svolta attraverso l’analisi dei testi in prosa della modernità presenti nel portale Biblio- teca Italiana e affronta i casi di studio di Manzoni, Pirandello e Tozzi, per analizzare tre progetti complementari e diversi di edizione cartacea e digitale, e di interazione tra ricerca accademica, istituzioni bibliotecarie ed editoria. I casi mostrano come il romanzo, per la sua polifonia, le sue dinamiche genetiche, la sua contaminazione con le arti visive e drammati- che, richieda una infrastruttura digitale che metta in relazione tutti questi aspetti tra loro, anche in chiave didattica, costituendo un banco di prova della necessaria trasformazione dell’edizione critica digitale in un sito di ricerca e conoscenza dei testi e dei loro autori. This article proposes a reflection on the state of the art of the Italian novel in the digital world carried out through the analysis of modern prose texts in the website BibliotecaItaliana.it, examining the case studies of Manzoni, Pirandello, and Tozzi, and in particular three com- plementary projects and several digital editions as well as interactions among academic rese- arch, institutions, librarians, and publishers. The case studies show how the novel — thanks especially to its polyphony, its genetic dynamics and contamination with the visual and dra- matic arts — requires an infrastructure that also links all these aspects from an educational point of view. The novel may be considered as a testing ground for the necessary transforma- tion of the digital critical edition into a “knowledge site” of texts and their authors.

Older adults constitute a viable resource in some countries of the European Union (EU), which is not found in the social margin that predominantly occurs in Greece. These countries have realised that the usage of digital technologies (Information and Communications Technology/ICT’s and the Internet) is an important tool for activating older adults, reducing their loneliness and a first-class opportunity for improving their daily life, e.g. through the use of telemedicine. By contrast, in Greece, which is defined by a rapidly ageing popula- tion, the discussion on the “grey digital divide” (the lack of access/usage of digital technologies) in relation to older individuals remains a problem that has not yet been sufficiently explored, while the formal policy is still at an embryonic stage with significant consequences for the entire Greek society. To conclude, the digital divide in Greece is a multi-dimensional matter that reflects the chronic pathogenies of the Greek state and a lack of political imagination to change the current situation.

The article is dedicated to the analysis of digital evolution in wholesale trade. The study examines the impact of digital technologies on the wholesale trade sector, including aspects of import substitution and the development of domestic technological systems under economic sanctions. The main focus is on the current state of the market and its development trends, such as the implementa-tion of ERP, CRM, and RPA systems, as well as the necessity of digitalization to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs. It is established that digital business transformation requires a compre-hensive approach to updating and optimizing business processes. The main current problems faced by wholesale trade enterprises in implementing new technologies and replacing Western digital prod-ucts are identified. The specifics of the impact of sanctions on the availability of foreign technologies and the growing interest in the development and application of national digital solutions are thor-oughly revealed. Adaptation to new economic and technological conditions requires enterprises to be flexible and adopt an innovative approach. The article also considers examples of successful cases of digital technology implementation in domestic wholesale trade enterprises. Key factors contributing to successful digital transformation are highlighted, including the role of human capital, the need for employee training, and investments in IT infrastructure. The study concludes that the success of digi-tal transformation in wholesale trade enterprises depends not only on technology but also on the business's readiness for change and the effectiveness of managerial decisions in the field of digitali-zation and process optimization. Special attention is given to strategic aspects of digital transformation, such as planning and control.

Digitalization is now spreading to all sectors, leading to the emergence of an "all-smart" society. Intelligent systems are developing, widely integrating data and virtual technologies, thus becoming essential in our daily lives. In this context, the Digital Twin (DT) is emerging as a promising technology to manage the growing complexity of these systems by combining data-based and model-based engineering respectively. DT combines various technologies, including the Internet of Things, data science, Modeling & Simulation, and Artificial Intelligence, to monitor, understand, optimize and anticipate the perfor mance of a real system through its virtual version. Its use has rapidly spread to various sectors such as construction, manufacturing, aerospace and smart cities, playing a crucial role in their digital transformation. However, the deployment of DT solutions faces several obstacles. Among them, we note the lack of a consensual definition, the difficulties of synchronization between the DT and the physical system, as well as the absence of transversal engineering methods applicable to different domains, raising several research questions. This thesis addresses three main research questions : (1) how to unify the understanding of the DT concept ? (2) what strategies to adopt for the deployment of a DT ? and (3) what is the impact of synchronization on the quality of services provided by the DT. The objective is to develop a formal and operational framework for DT-driven system engineering, based on systems theory. The main contributions of this work are as follows : • A conceptual modeling approach to the DT : this is the development of a conceptual fra mework called DMS (Data-Model-Services) to capture the internal elements of the DT in its value chain. • A formal specification approach of the DT : it aims to eliminate ambiguities in the interpre tation of the concept, and to facilitate its symbolic manipulation. • An inference capability graph : it is a characterization of different levels of maturity of a DT in terms of its self-adaptation capabilities to changes in the real system to which it is paired, levels organized in a relational structure in the form of a graph. • A graphical modeling approach : the proposed graphical notation, which is based on sys tems theory and inspired by the DEVS (Discrete EVent System specification) paradigm, aims to simplify DT modeling efforts, reduce the risks of conceptual error, and promote the co development principle. • A DT architecture pattern : this is a generic model of modular and flexible software architec ture that captures in detail the interactions between the different components of a DT, in order to facilitate its software engineering, and to pave the way for the automatic or semi-automatic generation of executable DTs. • A conceptualization of the synchronization between a DT and its real peer : the characteri zation of the different factors specific to this synchronization aims to allow analyzing their impact on the quality of the results produced by the DT.•An urban DT prototype : this is the development of a prototype of a DT of the campus of the University of Bordeaux, in the context of a large-scale project, illustrating the practical implementation of the proposed framework. This work constitutes in our eyes a first step towards a DT-driven system engineering. Several challenges remain to be overcome in this direction, which are as many perspectives for our future research efforts, in particular the verification and validation of DT, the analysis and synthesis of model inference capabilities in the DT, the in-depth study of the sensitivity of the DT with regard to the synchronization options of the Real-DT couple, and design patterns for DT-driven system engineering

The Tiwi are the indigenous people of the Tiwi Islands, located off the Northern Territory mainland. In 1919, as a unique and distinct people they appeared to be in a position to maintain their identity, to resist absorption into western culture and to avoid some of the serious social problems that came to affect some other Indigenous communities. While aspects of the Tiwi culture and lifestyle were gradually modified or abandoned through contact with outside societies between 1919 and 2000, other traits remained strong or were strengthened. These included their relationship with the land, the local language, dancing and singing, and adoption customs. Forms of visual art, some introduced, brought fame to the Tiwi. Government policies on Indigenous matters changed dramatically over the twentieth century. The earlier ones, including assimilation programmes were discriminatory and restrictive. Later approaches to Aboriginal and Islander welfare, including land rights, had significant consequences for the Islanders, some beneficial, others detrimental in nature. From the 1970s, the departure of resident missionaries and government officers from the islands led to an influx of private European employees. The exposure to these people added to that which the Tiwi experienced as they travelled far beyond their islands. After 1972, the policies of self-determination and, then, self-management placed enormous strains on the Tiwi as they strove to meet the requirements of government, private enterprise and the wider society. New forms of land and local government controls replaced the law of the elders. A younger, western-educated generation now spoke on behalf of the people. Ultimately, under the influence of outside pressures, degrees of socio-cultural absorption occurred in the islands even though the official policy of assimilation had been abandoned. Fortunately, the strong identity of the Tiwi ensured a level of social cohesion capable of combating full assimilation into a wholly western lifestyle.

Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) are objects of great importance in many studies of natural sciences and one relevant area of their application is hydrology, as from a DEM it is possible to generate drainage networks and watersheds, which are essential elements in the understanding of hydrological processes. All the methods developed to generate drainage networks from a DEM depend on its representation and the most common representation is given by regular grids, where elevation values are assigned to cells uniformly distributed over space. However, this representation presents limitations in the flow directions, which are defined in only eight distinct directions. This work considers the terrain model given by a Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) generated from contour lines and sampled points, where the terrain surface is modeled by several triangles defined from a set of points adequately distributed over space, so that the TIN can efficiently adapt to its irregularities. In addition, flow directions on TINs encompass a11 the possible directions and depend on the slope of the triangles, so this structure is more flexible regarding the calculation of water flows. The triangulation used in this work is the constrained Delaunay triangulation and the method that generates drainage networks considers flow directions given by the gradient of the plane defined from each triangle. Problems that commonly occur in DEMs such as flat areas and pits, which create inconsistencies in the terrain model and discontinuities in flows, also deserve special attention. In the present work, flat areas are removed by the insertion of new points into the triangulation with interpolated elevation values and pits by the definition of paths of points starting from the pit until reaching another point of lower elevation, where all these points have their elevation values re-interpolated. Most importantly, this work describes a methodology for calculating drainage paths from a TIN traced by processing the triangles with an associated priority and then connected defining a drainage graph structure, which is proposed in this work for the calculation of accumulated flows. Afterwards, drainage networks are generated according to given threshold values and watersheds are then delineated from the drainage networks. A11 the results from the TIN are qualitatively compared to regular grid results generated with the TerraHidro computational platform developed at INPE and also to an available drainage network produced by specialists and considered here as a reference of the main courses of water over the terrain. Results are very promising showing that TIN terrain models can be used to generate drainage networks from accumulated flows consistent with real-world hydrological patterns.
Modelos Digitais de Elevação (MDEs) são objetos de grande importância em muitos estudos das ciências naturais e uma área relevante de sua aplicação é a hidrologia, pois a partir de um MDE é possível gerar redes de drenagem e bacias hidrográficas, as quais são elementos essenciais no entendimento de processos hidrológicos. Todos os métodos desenvolvidos para gerar redes de drenagem a partir de um MDE dependem da sua representação e a representação mais comum é dada por grades regulares, onde valores de elevação são atribuídos em células uniformemente distribuídas no espaço. Entretanto, essa representação apresenta limitações nas direções de fluxo, as quais são definidas em apenas oito direções distintas. Este trabalho considera o modelo de terreno dado por uma Rede Triangular Irregular (Triangulated Irregular Network ou TIN) gerada de curvas de nível e pontos amestrados, onde a superfície do terreno é modelada por vários triângulos definidos a partir de um conjunto de pontos adequadamente distribuídos no espaço, de forma que o TIN pode eficientemente se adaptar as suas irregularidades. Além disso, direções de fluxo sobre TINs abrangem todas as direções possíveis e dependem da declividade dos triângulos, de modo que essa estrutura é mais flexível ao se considerar o cálculo dos fluxos de água. A triangulação utilizada neste trabalho é a triangulação de Delaunay restrita e o método que gera redes de drenagem considera direções de fluxo dadas pelo gradiente do plano definido por cada triângulo. Problemas que comumente ocorrem em MDEs tais como áreas planas e fossos, os quais criam inconsistências no modelo de terreno e descontinuidades nos fluxos, também merecem atenção especial. No presente trabalho, áreas planas são removidas pela inserção de novos pontos na triangulação com valores de elevação interpolados e fossos pela definição de caminhos de pontos iniciando do fosso até alcançar um outro ponto de menor elevação, onde todos esses pontos têm seus valores de elevação reinterpolados. Sobretudo, este trabalho descreve uma metodologia para calcular caminhos de drenagem a partir de um TIN traçados ao processar os triângulos com uma prioridade associada e depois conectados definindo uma estrutura de grafo de drenagem, a qual é proposta neste trabalho para o cálculo de fluxos acumulados. Posteriormente, redes de drenagem são geradas de acordo com determinado ti valores ele limiar e bacias hidrográficas são então delimitadas a partir das redes de drenagem. Todos os resultados do TIN são comparados qualitativamente a resultados de grade regular gerados com a plataforma computacional TerraHidro desenvolvida no INPE e também a uma rede de drenagem disponível, produzida por especialistas e considerada aqui como uma referência dos principais cursos d'água no terreno. Os resultados são bastante promissores mostrando que modelos de terreno TIN podem ser utilizados para gerar redes de drenagem a partir de fluxos acumulados consistentes com padrões hidrológicos reais.

Isso torna possível adquirir imagens com maior potencial para a discriminação devido aos atributos espectrais. Como alternativa de sistema de aerolevantamento, foi desenvolvido o Sistema Aerotransportado de Aquisição e Pós- Processamento de Imagens Digitais (SAAPI) o qual é capaz de adquirir imagens aéreas multiespectrais com alta resolução espacial. O SAAPI é composto por sensores de quadro capazes de produzir imagens multiespectrais com características de flexibilidade, confiabilidade e baixo custo. Mas, esses dados espectrais devem ser avaliados em aplicações de reconhecimento de padrões para aprimorar sua utilização. Nesse contexto, este trabalho busca ajustar índices de realce para serem capazes de destacar alvos específicos como corpo d’água, sombra, via pavimentada e vegetação presentes na paisagem urbana registrados em imagens adquiridas pelo SAAPI. Também, foi desenvolvida uma abordagem para correção do efeito vinhete baseada na análise de superfície de tendência da resposta radiométrica de sombras. The integration of digital tools within the Product realization process has major advantages in improving production performance. Many large industries make use of digital tools to digitize their products making them smart products. Implementing these digital tools can be beneficial for reshaping the organization which can lead to better customer satisfaction and improve business strategy. This project explores different digital tools that can be integrated with the product realization process and how these tools contribute to the different production development phases. This thesis presents a detailed study of the digital tools Simulation, Visualization, Emulation, and Digital twins which can be integrated with the product development process. A pre-study is conducted to gather knowledge regarding the application of these tools and further discover how these tools can support the Product realization process and is used to describe which tool works best at which stage of the product realization process, which can be used to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the production process. Implementing these digital tools within the production facility can be associated to smart factory paradigm of the Fourth industrial revolution Industry4.0.This research aims to contribute to the use of digital tools in the production processes and aids in bridging the gap between traditional and modern manufacturing methods. The outcome of this study is to clarify how the above-mentioned digital tools are linked to the product realization process to support an efficient and digitalized production development, also mentioning the strengths and weaknesses of these tools. The resulting analysis has provided a framework developed to support an efficient digitalized production development and preparation process for assembly tasks utilizing human and robot collaboration. This research paper can be used as a guide for companies that want to explore how implementing digital tools in their product realization process and how it may improve their productivity.

The advent of legislation restricting the use of lead in electronics requires innovation and refinement in processes for creating lead-free solder spheres for wafer bumping and other surface mount technology. Operation improvements were made upon a uniform droplet spray apparatus, and its digital integral controller was tuned for application to lead-free solder. Parameters determined included a range of initial controller command frequencies that would produce a stable image given a desired droplet diameter, and the value of the controller gain. The frequency range was determined by measuring the diameters of droplets attained at certain frequencies. The controller gain was optimized by measuring the time it took for the controller to reach its steady state at different gain values. It was determined that initial command frequency should be within ±150 Hz of that corresponding to the target diameter and an integral gain of 0.1 dB is the optimal gain for the tin-copper lead-free solder alloy, performing at par with the system specifications when in use with lead-bearing solder.

Das aride Tarim-Becken im Nordwesten Chinas unterliegt Umweltveränderungen, die durch rapide Ausbreitung bewässerter Landwirtschaft sowie Klimawandel angetrieben sind. Während im Oberlauf in den letzten 50 Jahren ein Abflussanstieg beobachtet wurde, haben landwirtschaftliche Aktivitäten im Mittel- und Unterlauf zur Wasserknappheit und der drastischen Verkürzung des endorheischen Flusses geführt. Der Abfluss des Tarim, dessen Hauptzufluss der in Kirgistan entspringende Aksu-Fluss darstellt, wird zu einem großen Teil aus Schnee- und Gletscherschmelze in den oberen Gebirgseinzugsgebieten des Tien Shan gespeist. Da die Unterlieger von dem Wasser des Tarim zur Bewässerung in der Landwirtschaft abhängig sind, sind das Wissen über den Beitrag der Gletscherschmelze zum Abfluss sowie das Wissen über mögliche zukünftige Änderungen der Gletschermasse von großer Relevanz. Zahlreiche Studien beschränken sich oftmals nur auf die Betrachtung der Gletscherfläche, deren Änderung jedoch keine direkten Rückschlüsse auf etwaige Massenänderungen zulässt und zudem nur ein indirektes Signal für Klimaänderungen darstellt. Weiterführende Studien, welche zusätzlich Gletschermassenänderungen im Aksu-Einzugsgebiet untersuchen, haben häufig nur lokalen Charakter. Regionale Studien zu Massenänderungen, welche ganze Einzugsgebiete und Gebirgsketten umfassen, finden sich mehrheitlich für die letzte Dekade durch die Verfügbarkeit laseraltimetrischer Höhendaten und gravimetrischer Messungen, wobei letztere durch hohe Unsicherheiten gekennzeichnet sind. Um jedoch Aussagen hinsichtlich der zeitlichen Entwicklung der Gletscher treffen zu können, widmet sich die Arbeit insbesondere der Untersuchung von Gletschermassenveränderungen seit den 1970er Jahren unter Verwendung deklassifizierter amerikanischer Satellitenbilddaten, SRTM-Daten sowie SPOT-5-Stereodaten. Zur Ableitung geodätischer Gletschermassenbilanzen wurden Daten der Mapping Camera (MC) des Hexagon-Satelliten aus den Jahren 1973–1976 stereoskopisch ausgewertet und mit Daten der SRTM-Mission aus dem Jahr 2000 und SPOT-5-Stereodaten aus dem Jahr 2009 verglichen. Die Ableitung geodätischer Massenbilanzen aus multi-temporalen Geländemodellen erforderte deren Co-Registrierung auf das als SRTM gewählte Master-Modell. In einem zweistufigen Verfahren wurden Verkippungen über eine globale Trendfläche und horizontale Lagefehler über eine analytische Beziehung zwischen Oberflächenneigung, Orientierung und der entsprechenden Höhendifferenz unter Einbeziehung nicht-glazialer Pixel minimiert. Die Eindringtiefe des SRTM-C-Bands wurde mittels ICESat-Daten mit 2,2 m abgeschätzt und bei der Differenzbildung berücksichtigt. Zur Bereinigung der Differenzbilder zwischen den Geländemodellen wurde ein höhenbasierter Ansatz entwickelt, welcher eine abnehmende Varianz der Höhendifferenzwerte vom Ablations- zum Akkumulationsgebiet annimmt. Dieser Ansatz stellt eine deutlich realistischere Annahme im Vergleich zur oftmals verwendeten Nullannahme dar, welche von keinen Veränderungen in den Akkumulationsgebieten ausgeht. Die Gletscher im Aksu-Einzugsgebiet zeigten im Ergebnis einen Massenverlust von 0,35±0,34 m w.e./a im Zeitraum 1975–1999, was dem globalen Durchschnitt für diese Periode entspricht. In den Jahren 1999 bis 2009 wurde indes eine Abnahme des Massenverlusts (0,23±0,19 m w.e./a) festgestellt, was möglicherweise auf eine Zunahme des Niederschlags in der letzten Dekade zurückzuführen ist. Zudem zeigte sich, dass schuttbedeckte Gletscher, deren Schuttauflage ab einer Dicke von etwa 2 cm einen hemmenden Einfluss auf die Abschmelzrate hat, signifikant an Masse verloren haben bei gleichzeitig nur relativ geringer Flächenabnahme. Insgesamt wies die räumliche Verteilung der Massenänderungen eine starke Heterogenität auf, mit zunehmender Tendenz von Osten nach Westen und von den Innen- zu den Außenbereichen des Zentralen Tien Shan. Zusätzlich konnten zahlreiche, zuvor in der Literatur nicht benannte, surgende Gletscher identifiziert werden. Der durch Eismassenverlust induzierte Anteil am Gesamtabfluss des Aksu wurde im Ergebnis mit circa 20% ermittelt. Neben der Oberflächenneigung sind, in einfachen Modellen zur Eisdickenabschätzung, die basale Scherspannung und der Anteil basalen Gleitens an der Oberflächengeschwindigkeit Haupteinflussfaktoren. Anhand gemessener Eisdicken, fernerkundlich abgeleiteter Gletscherfließgeschwindigkeiten und der Oberflächenneigung, als Näherung der Neigung des Gletscherbetts, konnte ein empirischer Zusammenhang zur Abschätzung des Anteils basalen Gleitens abgeleitet werden. Die Eisdickenabschätzung für die vier größten Gletscher des Zentralen Tien Shan erfolgte im weiteren Verlauf durch Anwendung von Glen’s Fließgesetz, unter Annahme laminaren Fließens. Die Ergebnisse weisen für die betrachteten Gletscher mittlere Dicken von 70 m bis 140 m für deren schuttbedeckte Gletscherzungen auf. Diese Werte liegen teilweise deutlich unter denen bisheriger Studien, welche von einer globalen Scherspannung für den gesamten Gletscher oder einem konstanten Anteil basalen Gleitens ausgehen. Im Vergleich zu vorhandenen Eisdickenmessungen konnte durch die lokale Abschätzung der basalen Geschwindigkeit die mittlere Abweichung von zuvor mehr als 200 m auf etwa 50 m reduziert werden. Durch Einbeziehung der in der Arbeit ermittelten geodätischen Gletschermassenbilanzen wurde der relative Volumenverlust seit den 1970er Jahren mit 6% bis 28% quantifiziert, welcher deutlich unter dem schuttfreier Gletscher innerhalb Hochasiens liegt.

Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) är en teknik för att samla in data om terräng. Genom att använda dessa data kan man skapa olika terrängmodeller. Denna studie syftar till att undersöka hur olika procentuella reduceringar av ursprungsdata påverkar kvalitén hos genererade höjdmodeller i form av Triangular Irregular Network (TIN). Detta görs genom att med hjälp av statistiska metoder göra jämförelser mellan punkter i den genererade TIN modellen och motsvarande punkter i det ursprungliga LIDAR punktmolnet. Studien visar att, beroende på noggrannhetskrav och topografi, en så liten andel som 5 % av punkterna kan vara tillräckligt, samt att noggrannhetsförbättring vid användning av mer än 50 % av ursprungsdata inte kan motivera den ökade arbetsbelastningen för datahantering.

Educ@tion is an application framework available to teachers, students, and headmasters, based on the integration of open source modules and specific developments of Telecom Italia, which do not require licensing costs. It is made up of a range of innovative didactic applications, which are integrated with an advanced solution for dashboard data management and school administration. The prototype is being tested in several Italian primary and secondary schools. During the academic year 2010/2011, Telecom Italia has run two trials in particular in two Italian high schools (one in Naples and the other in Trent). During these experiences teachers and students have tested the innovative module of editorial mash up, for the collaborative aggregation of multimedia didactic materials. Both schools have highlighted a major student feeling of involvement, their increased enthusiasm for the school and a higher rate of grades in the classes that had been involved in the digital activities.

Abstract Since the US Supreme Court swept away ‘sweat copyright’ in its 1991 Feist decision, 1 producers and consumers of works of low authorship, primarily compilations of information and, particularly, digital databases, have debated whether US law still affords these works effective protection.2 For the first 200 years of US copyright law, Congress, courts, and compilers seem to have concurred that copyright supplied a needed incentive to gather and publish useful information, and courts condemned competitors who copied even scantily (if at all) original compilations.3 Today, ‘thin’ copyright protec tion remains available, but it covers only those original contributions (if any) that the compiler brings to the public domain information.

Abstract Are email, texting and instant messages destroying the English language, killing the art of conversation, and rupturing social relationships? How can I use email, texting, and IM to enhance my communications skills, cement business and personal relationships, and increase profitability, while at the same time protecting my privacy? The first question is often raised by alarmists who don’t trust digital texts and are anxious to find something wrong with the new technologies of com- munication, and its answer seems to be “No.” English survives, conversation thrives online as well as off, and on balance, digital communication seems to be enhancing human interaction, not detracting from it. The second ques- tion is more likely to be asked by those who want to trust the new media and are anxious to learn how it might be useful for them, while making sure these new ways of doing things with words won’t blow up in their faces. The answers to the second question are too complex to be rendered in a sound bite. But as we see in the chapters that follow, both questions reveal a lot about how digital communications are changing our lives and how we’re responding to those changes.

Organizations are increasingly relying on AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) strategies to streamline operations, improve decision-making, and spur innovation. These tactics entail the application of cutting-edge technologies to data analysis, insight extrac-tion, and process automation. An overview of AI and ML organizational strategies is pro-vided in this chapter. Adopting artificial in-telligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technology has become crucial for enterprises looking to improve operational effectiveness, decision-making procedures, and overall competitiveness in the modern digital land-scape. This study seeks to present an over-view of the uses, advantages, difficulties, and factors to be taken into account when inte-grating AI and ML in organizational con-texts. The chapter begins by clarifying the underlying ideas of AI and ML, outlining their differences, and emphasizing their bene-ficial interaction. The applications of these technologies are then demonstrated, includ-ing natural language processing, process au-tomation, predictive analytics, and recom-mendation systems. Real-world examples from a variety of industries highlight how AI and ML have the power to disrupt conven-tional business procedures. In addition to the many advantages, implementation issues with AI and ML are addressed. The possibility for bias, data privacy, and ethical considerations are crucial issues that call for careful management. In-depth discussion of options for overcoming these obstacles is provided in the article, including explainable AI and re-sponsible data governance. The article also examines the organizational requirements for a successful integration of AI and ML. This includes cultivating cross-functional collabo-ration, upskilling people, and creating a data-driven culture. Additionally, frameworks for analyzing the ROI of AI and ML activities are offered strategically, assisting businesses in determining the worth of their investments and defending them. This report emphasizes the value of AI and ML as transformational tools in organizational evolution in its con-clusion. Organizations may use AI and ML to enhance decision-making, streamline processes, and open up new doors for innova-tion and growth in the digital era by under-standing the intricacies, potential applica-tions, obstacles, and implementation re-quirements.

In present-day Europe a multilevel protection of human rights has developed. Freedoms in Europe are protected at the national level, the Council of Europe level, and the European Union level. National courts, especially constitutional courts, defend rights based primarily on the ground of the national constitutions, but also by the international legal instruments. The Court of Justice of the European Union protects the rights embodied in the Charter. The European Court of Human Rights protects the freedoms and rights enshrined in the European Convention of Human Rights. The chapter analyses only the developments of jurisprudence of the Strasbourg Court, and focuses on three distinct subjects: the protection of ethnic minorities, the right to education, and the human rights challenges of the digital era. The Court considers the Convention a “living instrument,” and by the way of its “innovative interpreta- tion” can protect human rights even outside the area that the Convention’s text strictly covers. Through this flexible approach, the Court is able accommodate human rights protection to changing political and social environments. Nevertheless, as the first subject indicates, the efforts are not always success- ful. In the area of the protection of ethnic and national minorities the result cannot be called a success story, and the case-law is unfortunately contingent. Contrariwise, the subject of education rights provides an example of how the Court could enlarge the applicability of a right previously interpreted very narrowly and elevate the standard of assessment higher than its previous case-law. The Court could also give adequate answers to the challenges of the digital era, extending human rights jurisprudence to the online world. The approach of the Court is illustrated in connection with two fundamental rights protected by the Convention: first, the Internet and freedom of expression; second, data-protection and retention issues relevant for the Internet in the context of the right to privacy.

Several devices have allowed the acquisition and editing ofvideos in various circumstances, such as digital cameras, smartphones and other mobile devices. However, the use ofcameras under adverse conditions usually results in non-precise motion and occurrence of shaking, which may compromise the stability of the obtained videos. To overcome such problem, digital stabiliza- tion aims to correct camera motion oscillations that occur in the acquisition process, particularly when the cameras are mobile and handled in adverse con- ditions, through software techniques, without the use of specific hardware, to enhance visual quality either with the intention of enhancing human percep- tion or improving final applications, such as detection and tracking of objects. This is important in order to avoid hardware cost and indispensable for videos already recorded. This work proposed three methods to perform digital video stabilization and two other techniques to evaluate video stabilization quality. 1.

The history of human civilization has formed a large number of precious architectural heritage, which reflects a country's achievements in engineering technology, social development, culture, art, etc. This architectural heritage also covers the concepts of architectural design planning. However, with the changes in the environment and the influence of human activities, cultural heritage is inevitably eroded and destroyed. The distribution of architectural cultural heritage is wide and large, and the resources for architectural protection are given priority to projects with higher value, and it is impossible to cover all. Under the background of the digital age, the digital preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage have gradually become an inevitable trend. Digital cultural heritage technologies supported by technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3D modeling provides rich means for digital recording, preservation, display, and inheritance of cultural heritage, and expand the connotation of traditional cultural heritage protection.Virtual reality technology has been widely used in the protection and dissemination of architectural cultural heritage. As a national key cultural relics protection unit in Singapore, THK has a long history and rich ancient architectural resources. The research aims to digitally preserve THK from inevitable physical damage by creating 3D interactive models, which can restore the historical, cultural, and aesthetic value of THK's architectural heritage. With breakthroughs in perceptual interaction technology in recent years, the mode of natural interaction in VR has more possibilities. This research mainly focuses on the application of natural interaction modes based on eye and hand movement tracking on architectural cultural heritage dissemination. Meanwhile, it also explores the application in the dissemination of architectural cultural heritage and summarizes the interactive designing strategy. As the eye movement and hand movement tracking modules are applied to the virtual interactive display of THK, we have the following objectives. Firstly, we will analyze the characteristics of information dissemination which is in various forms in natural interaction. Moreover, we will validate design strategies for natural interactions with experiments, optimizing the user experience of the audience who are experiencing the interaction. Particularly, the 3D interactive mode can interactively transport users back in time. Although both the aesthetic elements and the architectural space have evolved through time, users can still interact with them. To experience the history and culture, target users can watch and interact with THK digital architecture models on their mobile phones from anywhere. This study can improve the impact of information spreading and make helpful explorations of the digital dissemination method of cultural heritage, as well as have positive effects on the distribution of spatial structural information and historical and cultural information about architectural heritage.

Analogue FDM transmission of AM-VSB TV-channels over optical fibres is used today to upgrade existing copper-based CATV networks. With the aid of optical amplifiers (EDFA) cost competitive FTTC systems will be realized /1,2/. The strategy for the distribution of HDTV-channels is not so clear today, but in any case, digital transmission will yield the highest quality /3/. In this paper we demonstrate the feasibility of flexible TV/HDTV-distribu- tion using simultaneous analogue AM and digital PCM transmission over optical amplifiers without any mutual quality degradation.

Video stabilization removes shaky camera motion from videos. In our thesis, we presented an extensive review, including a formal problem defini tion, meta-analysis, and other elements, resulting in two survey papers. We introduced new measures for stability assessment and studied the correlation between them and human perception. We also proposed a novel evaluation ap proach for 2D camera motion estimation. We then introduced NAFT, a semi-online DWS method with a neighborhood-aware mechanism to stabilize without an explicit stability definition. We supervised NAFT with SynthStab, our pro posed synthetic dataset. NAFT closed the quality gap with non-DWS methods while reducing the number of parameters and model size by 14×.

The report studies the situation of visual journalism in the editorship of Bulgarian online and traditional media today. Through the method of dis-positive analysis, it explores the structural changes, challenges and state of the profession in its transition to the modern digital era. This study examines the transformations in visual journalism in the media industry, the process of news production, the adaptation to digitalization, mobile communica-tion, and social media promotion, the decline of readers, convergence, participatory culture, tabloidization, fake news, and other related topics. With regards to this matter, the study aligns with the discourse of numerous other studies and serves to substantiate the importance and merits of journalism, as well as the value of studying it.

Organizations today face a more volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous market environment, referred to by the term »VUCA world«. To this, they commonly respond with management approaches that comprise flat hierarchies and a decentrali¬za¬tion of decision-making structures. But while some companies are very successful with such approaches, others struggle significantly. One reason is that conflicts about ranks in the informal hierarchy arise as the formal hierarchy diminishes. Hence, understanding group dynamics and the different strategies of team members in the social competition becomes increasingly important. In previous works, a theoretical model containing five different roles was presented. These roles result from specific psychological capabilities, values, and needs of each individual and include specific contributions to the social functioning of the group. In this paper, participants of an online survey have been asked about their contribution to team success. A subsequent factor analysis of n = 421 datasets proofed the existence of five different roles and, thus, the validity of the model.

Digital identification systems (DIS) have great potential for strengthening tax administration. This paper examines the practical implications of integrating DIS with tax administration in Ghana. Studying system integration and data sharing between the Ghana Revenue Authority and the National Identification Agency, we evaluate the impact of replacing taxpayer identification numbers (TINs) with personal identification numbers (PINs) linked to a Ghana Card. By analysing administrative data and surveying 1,000 businesses in Accra, the study investigates registration patterns, tax perceptions and outcomes, and assesses improvements in data quality post-integration. The findings reveal a significant increase in the number registered for tax following system integration, particularly female and younger taxpayers. The impact on revenue is uncertain, and there is mixed compliance observed for PIN-based registrations. Those registered for tax for the first time after integration perform much worse than taxpayers who were migrated from TIN to PIN. Tax payment significantly improves for PIN-based registrations, mainly due to the technical design of the e-payment platform. While integration improves data on taxpayers' addresses, it worsens that on the economic sector. The study also shows that there is no significant improvement in taxpayers’ attitudes and perceptions, despite simplified registration processes. The paper offers policy recommendations, emphasising the need for targeted strategies and investment in administrative capacity to maximise the potential of digital ID systems to shape taxpayer attitudes and enhance tax compliance.

Use of the digital technologies is new and very productive approach for balance of different data. It is very important for balance of supply and demand and for increase of competitiveness of products. Various types of digital models were developed as a result of scientific research, they found reflection in article. Digital models for the description of the list of the sequences of steps and operations of various stages and process in general allow to install system of interrelations between operations and steps and to reach necessary log-ic, increase of effectiveness of any process. Object-relational models for establishment of communications between data of various blocks of databases and functional models of the choice of strategy of data balance form analytical base for justification of the choice of the direction of transformation of data. Models of a combination of a plurality of various data of the offer of products in the form of matrixes of multi-purpose optimization have double effect, because they allow not only to develop various options of data combina-tion, taking into account opportunities of change of location of products over the markets and temporary phases, but also to estimate aggregate useful effect from products. These models together with models of comparison of various options and the choice of optimal solutions allow to generate compatible strategic and current programs of the offer of products as a plurality of the output data balanced with each other and with data of demand. It is providing the best synergetic result. The developed methodology of creation of system of the interconnected digital models for transformation of data and generation of the output data of the situational-strategic program of the offer of products is a cornerstone of formation of new digital econ-omy – of economy of balanced data.
