Abstract (sommario):
A system of concepts and definitions was generalized, the basic principles of creating eco- objects are defined and formulated in the article. A model of the system representation of the eco-object is proposed to determine the concepts of environmental sustainability and structure ecologization. The concept of ecologization of the life cycle of the object is formulated, the appropriative scheme is proposed. The concept of ecologization of the object's functioning is presented. As a result of the structural analysis of the concept, three concepts of the functioning of the eco-object during the exploitation were formulated and highlighted. The factors that directly or indirectly influence decision-making in the process of shaping were systematized, formulated, presented in the schematic form. As a result of the dissertation research on the basis of analysis of examples from the design practice, systematization of data, development of the typology of objects of eco-architecture in terms of geometric schemes, constructive solutions and their interrelations, elaboration of a proposal for a new method of rational, multivariate use of ecological principles in the objects of different structure and purpose, the algorithm of modeling objects of eco-design as the basis of the decision-making system was developed.

Abstract (sommario):
The article is devoted to digital design objects. The author analyzes the features of design objects, examines the influence of digital technologies on the creation of design objects. It is suggested to enter the sign of originality for design objects as for works of art. Digital technologies give an impulse and a different meaning to design objects. The designer combines various types of technologies using digital technology. Thus, the originality of the design product will consist of different components: user perception of the object, convenience, fashion, design of creative use and processing of information, and other interesting and convenient elements. Objects created by artifi cial intelligence technology are becoming popular in design. For objects created by artificial intelligence technology, the criterion of originality will be questioned, since in foreign practice (USA, England), the criterion of originality carries the author's personality, but the novelty can be easily determined by the machine. Hence, it is proposed to grant the author of the software product the exclusive right to the object created by the machine.

Abstract (sommario):
A design pattern is used as a static reusable component of object oriented design in the many patterns catalogue. The regular design pattern does not show any collaboration of shared resource between patterns in the software design. But generative design pattern is a new design pattern that shows the relationship and shared resources between them. The generative design pattern is considered a dynamic and active design, which creating new design as a result of collaboration and resource usage between two designs. This paper will demonstrate benefit and the structure of generative pattern. It also demonstrates the creation of a desktop application for modeling generative design pattern. The Java language creates the desktop application. The application provides many features, for instance, users can place drawing objects such as class, Interface and Abstract Class object. The users also can draw different connection line between these objects, such as simple, inheritance, composition lines. This project shows the implementation details techniques of drawing objects and their connection. It also provides an open source code that many novice developers can understand and analysis for further development. The application source code gives the developers new ideas and skills in object oriented programming and graphical user interface in Java language.

Abstract (sommario):
The purpose of this work has been to explore if objects can strengthen communication between psychologists and children in therapy. Can objects together with tactility as a tool help us to find and put words to feelings and episodes in our lives? I have explored this by interviewing three psychologists on several occasions who work with children. I have planned and implemented a three-day workshop with four children in the age of 7. Working in 3D as a method of sketching and testing has been an important part of the process. The work resulted in a tactile material consisting of 18 objects that have different material qualities. During tests the material has been helpful in order tostart conversation and getting help describing emotions. My hope is that this material will continued to be tested and developed.

Abstract (sommario):
This thesis seeks to outline methods that explore interaction when the material object takes the role as playful provocateur. The process describes how simple, classic toys provide the guiding inspiration for prototypes. Combining the qualities of elastic freedom and surprising movement with simple mechanical input for expressive transformative form. The performative aspects of this movement are explored and described in workshops with contemporary circus artists and industrial designers, with the aim of understanding how expressive and playful behaviour can inspire the design of an interactive playful object. Finally, a series of provocative and animated latex objects use elastic movement and ambiguous bodily aesthetic to engage an audience in a playful and dialogue between human and machine. Ultimately, this thesis defines some basic principles and methods for making expressive, and robust moving objects, capable of provoking new interactive experiences. The research concludes with the suggestion that designers should look to the performing arts as a context that allows provocative new interactive experiences and a space for them to be tested on the their merits of expression.

Abstract (sommario):
The ubiquity of technology has mediated the means of receiving content through digital networks; users have complete control over receiving, shaping, and sharing information. In contrast to the inherent elasticity of these networks, physical pieces of communication often manifest through a closed and highly controlled process. However, the increased prominence of user-interaction with media provides an opportunity to evaluate the design process as it applies to the creation of physical objects. Throughout much of my work, I investigate the potential for unloosening the control of designed objects by inviting others into the design process. By considering the audience as active participants, rather than passive receivers of communication, the designer becomes a facilitator for communication. Through the design of frameworks, the designer relinquishes some control of form or content, allowing author and audience to coalesce.

Abstract (sommario):
Today's social climate and working environments expose us to excessive expectations and demands and more and more people are diagnosed with stress-related illnesses. My degree project is an investigation of poetic design, healing spaces and fatigue syndrome and the importance of adapted health care environments that strengthen treatment and recovery. My mother has fatigue syndrome, she has been ill for over six years, and she still has severe symptoms that probably never fully will go way. So, the purpose of this project is, on the one hand an attempt to get a deeper understanding of her situation, and on the other, to shed some light on this illness that is getting more and more common, especially amongst women. Research shows that spending time in nature has healing effects for those with mental illness. Using my definition of poetic design as a method, I have transposed qualities of nature into an indoor environment that reconnects to humans deep and genetic relationship to nature. I am proposing a new type of health care space with a much-needed holistic approach. Focus is on treatments such as mindfulness, basal body awareness and yin yoga as well as different kinds of therapy and activities in a space close to nature. A holistic space including a garden, an indoor space and a piece of furniture that are designed to respond to the non-measurable and invisible symptoms of fatigue syndrome.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Presented is a computational method for physical modeling of mechanical objects of constrained movement. In a physical modeling environment, an object’s behavior is modeled as it is implied by its geometry and substance, and the appearing physical (mechanical, thermal, and other) phenomena. The developed software is able to describe various forms of movement of a rigid object, configure obstacles in the space, check for collisions of the moving object with the obstacles, and compute post-collision trajectories of the object. The motivation for the background research is an industrial problem, namely, spatial positioning of moving objects without using extra energy. The novelty of this work is in (a) the interactive definition of constituents of the modeling environment, (b) the integrated simulation of an arbitrary sequence of spatial movements and multiple collisions, and (c) the applicability to preliminary design of mechanical equipment. The process of physical modeling has been implemented in six phases: (a) geometric modeling and determination of the substantial attributes of the object, (b) computing of the pre-defined movements, (c) specification and positioning obstacles in the space, (d) checking for single and multiple collisions, (e) computing of post-collision movements, and (f) controlling of multiple and repeated events. Among others, the developed software is able to compute compound movements in the space and any sequence of eccentric collisions with four types of obstacles.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract An object oriented data base and application management system for integrated, interdisciplinary mechanical system simulation is developed and implemented; with emphasis on flexible body dynamic simulation, stress history calculation, and fatigue life prediction. The system consists of (1) functional objects that perform a particular analysis task, (2) data objects that store data in the data base, (3) data and object management tools that manage the communication between the different parts of the system, and (4) network communication tools that communicate between different hardware platforms. Functional objects are developed and implemented for the different analysis needs of the system. Such objects (1) hide implementation details, (2) provide easy extendability, and (3) simplify use of the system. Data are organized in terms of objects, object hierarchies, and object attributes. This provides quasi data inheritance and information hiding, which allows for a data base schema that is both robust and extendable.

Abstract (sommario):
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is an important step for the design of structures or components formed by heterogeneous objects such as multi-materials, Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs), etc. The main objective of the FEA-based design of heterogeneous objects is to simultaneously optimize both geometry and material distribution over the design domain (e.g., Homogenization Design Method). However, the accuracy of the FEA-based design wholly depends on the quality of the finite element models. Therefore, there exists an increasing need for generating finite element models adaptive to both geometric complexity and material distribution. This paper introduces a method for FEA-based design of heterogeneous objects. At the design stage, a heterogeneous solid model is first created by referring to the libraries of primary materials and composition functions that are already available in the field of material science. The heterogeneous solid model is then discretized into an object model onto which appropriate material properties are mapped. Discretization converts continuous material variations inside an object into stepwise variations. Next, the object model is adaptively meshed and converted into a finite element model. The meshing algorithm first creates nodes on the iso-material curves (or surfaces) of heterogeneous solid models. Triangular (or tetrahedral) meshes are then generated inside each iso-material region formed by iso-material curves (or surfaces). FEA using commercial software is finally performed to estimate stress levels. This FEA-based design cycle is repeated until a satisfactory solution is obtained. If the design objective is satisfactory, the object model is fed to the fabrication system where a process planning is performed to create instructions for LM machines. An example (FGM pressure vessel) is shown to illustrate the entire FEA-based design cycle.

Abstract (sommario):
In this work, we study a kind of manipulation process during which we deal with active objects. An active object is a concept covering a variety of objects that are not rigid and need to be controlled during the manipulation process. Here, we use a multi-link mechanism with active motors (actuator) as the object and a series of simple planar manipulators to perform the manipulation process. Dynamic, control, motion planning, and stability at the presence of impact are the most important challenges in this work.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract This paper presents an algorithm to generate surface models of 3D objects from their wire-frame models. The algorithm firstly, obtains information about edges of the object from the wire-frame model of the object and uses this edge information to generate the pairs. A pair of an object is a combination of two non-collinear edges which have a common vertex. The algorithm then determines the unique plane passing through each pair and groups the coplanar pairs together. Then it sorts each of the groups of coplanar pairs to form one or more loops of edges. Finally for each group of coplanar pairs, all the loops are combined, using a few rules, to form faces of the object. Hence a surface model of the object is generated.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract A new method is being developed to automatically generate an optimal solution of the two-dimensional layout problem. Finding the optimal solution of a layout design problem, especially that of irregular shapes, is quite difficult and requires an extensive amount of computation mainly due to the combinatorial nature of the problem. In this work, each object is categorized into either a mating or a non-mating group based on its concavity features. Each mating object is then decomposed into sets of convex objects and its mating conditions are then checked with other mating objects. Based on mating conditions, two or more objects are mated to form a mating pair. After the mating pool of possible candidate mating pairs is generated, the genetic algorithm generates an optimal packing sequence of the mating group as well as the non-mating group. Then, local positional arrangement of each object in the sequence is determined to get a final solution.

Abstract (sommario):
The technology progression over the past decade has redefined the product engineering process. Some of the challenges facing the engineering community are the advent of ubiquitous computing, software integration, and data avalanche. Engineering objects are being defined and implemented to help engineers meet these challenges. As defined in this research, engineering objects have several inherent abilities that enable them to adapt to surroundings and distinguish themselves from other objects coexisting in the same environment. These objects manage information by grouping it based on its physical counterpart, enabling users to interact intuitively with information through a single engineering object interface, and making information gathering from disparate software packages unnecessary. This paper discusses software objects as a theoretical foundation for implementing engineering objects and providing engineers with a platform to create virtualized products more naturally and rapidly.
