Les pages roses du Petit Larousse illustré constituent un corpus familier, largement consulté par les lecteurs qu’ils soient ou non latinistes. Ces pages ne sont pas limitées au latin et admettent largement le grec, l’anglais, l’allemand ou l’italien. La parole latine y est pourtant majoritaire, pour la raison que l’usage de la langue mère exprime la sagesse proverbiale des anciens. Cette sagesse est partiellement comprise de tous en raison de la proximité du mot de la langue romane et de son étymon. A l’origine de la romanité, le latin peut ainsi exprimer des conseils à l’usage de tous, des concepts juridiques, des proverbes, des phrases situationnelles faciles à placer en conversations et agréables à traduire et à gloser, en faisant plaisamment montre de sa culture. C’est l’une des causes de leur faveur. Tous les proverbes doivent s’appuyer sur une autorité. Le proverbe en latin demande quant à lui une traduction, si les mots qu’il contient sont éloignés de leur évolution en langue romane. La présente étude analysera le corpus du dictionnaire et envisagera quelques aspects de ces sentences, en insistant sur la sagesse, plutôt traditionnelle, qu’elles contiennent.

L’article présente les résultats d’une enquête préliminaire sur les sens du mot tempus dans les textes médiolatins issus du territoire polonais et datant du XIe au début du XVIe siècle. Les cadres théoriques de ce travail s’appuient sur deux idées qui structurent notre analyse. Premièrement, le bon point de départ pour l’analyse sémantique d’un mot polysémique est l’observation de ses propriétés collocationnelles. Deuxièmement, le travail en linguistique cognitive montre que les clusters de sens peuvent être associés avec des métaphores conceptuelles du Temps. Notre analyse détaillée nous permet de conclure que le mot tempus en latin médiéval polonais est utilisé pour parler (1) de temps comme contexte infini des événements, (2) de durées, (3) de périodes et (4) de moments dans le temps.

À deux endroits de ses oeuvres en vers (De memorabilibus VII, 3, 94 e epist. V, 73), Raoul Tortaire emploie le mot vafria, qui n’est attesté dans aucune autre oeuvre latine. Ce n’est cependant pas un néologisme créé par le poète, mais un mot corrompu présent dans la tradition manuscrite des Facta et dicta memorabilia de Valère Maxime (VII, 3, ext. 2) au lieu du mot correct vafritia et considéré par Raoul comme un mot latin authentique. L’article a aussi pour objet de traiter des relations intertextuelles qui émergent de l’analyse des textes examinés.

Quoi de plus évident que de faire l’étymologie du mot amour pour déclarer notre amour à la linguistique historique, car dans ce petit mot se cache toute la beauté de notre discipline. Au premier abord pour un oeil inexpérimenté, tout est en effet évident : le mot français amour, m. vient directement du latin am or, -oris m., qui n’aurait subi qu’une simple diphtongaison qui a ensuite été monophtonguée. Mais rien n’est aussi simple en étymologie – tout comme en amour – et là est tout l’intérêt de la linguistique historique comparée : chercher ce qui ne se voit pas au premier regard.

Dans ces traductions où l’auteur fait le choix de la littéralité, se manifeste l’héritage de sa scolarité en grec et en latin. Or cette expérience, de la maladresse du mot-à-mot à l’hospitalité dans l’accueil d’autres cultures, a largement contribué à former l’écriture de Péguy.

Cette thèse étudie le sémantisme du mot ars dans la littérature latine, depuis les origines jusqu'à l'époque cicéronienne incluse, dans une perspective à la fois lexicographique et historique, après une enquête étymologique, qui met en valeur les notions d'ordre et de capacité à agencer une multiplicité, les divers sens d'ars sont classés et hiérarchisés en appliquant les méthodes de l'analyse sémique. L'évolution de cette structure sémantique est envisagée en deux temps : à l'époque archaïque et au 1er siècle, dominé par la personnalité et l'œuvre de Cicéron. Dans ce deuxième moment apparaissent de nouveaux développements ("science particulière", "technique, méthode", "théorie, système" et "traité"), essentiellement calqués du mot grec techne qu'ars sert à traduire, notamment dans les œuvres de rhétorique et de philosophie. Ces acceptions nouvelles n'éclipsent pas pour autant les sens anciens ("habilité" et "façons d'agir" d'une part, "habilité technique, savoir-faire" et "métier" d'autre part): le pluriel artes bonae, qui peut être synonyme de artes liberales ("disciplines qui forment l'homme libre"), est employé concurremment pour désigner les "vertus" romaines traditionnelles, par opposition aux uirtutes grecques. Il ressort de cette étude qu'ars, comme d'ailleurs techne, ne se limite pas à la notion de "connaissance pratique", mais permet d'exprimer les aspects les plus divers du savoir humainThis thesis is a semantic study of the word ars. It begins at the commencement of Latin literature and includes the ciceronian era, the perspective being both lexicographic and historical. After the etymological research, which highlights the fundamental elements of order and of ability for organization, the various meanings of ars are classified applying the methods of componential analysis. The evolution of this semantic structure is seen on two levels: the archaic period and the first century (dominated globally by cicero). During this second era new meanings of ars began to appear ("a special science", "a technique or method", "a theory, system" and "a treatise"), essentially borrowed from the Greek word techne, from which ars is the Latin counterpart, notably apparent in rhetorical and philosophical works. These new definitions do not replace the older ones ("skill" and "behavior, practices", "professional skill, craftsmanship" and "a profession, craft"): the plural artes bonae, which can be synonymous with artes liberales (the basis of a free man culture) was used concurrently to designates the traditional roman virtues as opposed to the Greek uirtules. Out of this study one surmises that ars like techne is not limited to practical knowledge but provides for a larger explanation of human knowledge

L'étude porte sur la polysémie de deux lexèmes latins, forma et formula, qui sont en relation morphologique de dérivation. La comparaison des occurrences dans les textes latins (des origines a la fin du sixième siècle) fait apparaitre des acceptions nombreuses et diverses. En fonction de différents critères, notamment de leur autonomie ou de leur dépendance par rapport au contexte, ces acceptions sont classées en sens et en variantes sémantiques. La comparaison des sens, définis par leur sémème, montre que la polysémie de forma s'organise, en synchronie, autour des deux poles de "forme" (comme qualité concrète) et de "modèle". Chaque sens, en effet, se relie, directement ou indirectement, a l'un des pôles par une relation de polysémie étroite, polysémie lâche, restriction de sens, métonymie ou métaphore, a l'exception de deux sens rares, qui sont en relation d'homonymie avec les autres. La polysémie de formula ne reproduit qu'une partie de la polysémie de forma, celle qui s'organise autour du pôle de "modelé", les sens propres a formula se distinguant des sens correspondants de forma par un caractère plus spécialise. En diachronie, il est possible de remonter a un sens reconstruit de "maintien", "solidification", qui engage a choisir, parmi les étymologies possibles, celle qui se fonde sur la racine indo-européenne *dher-, "maintenir", "fixer". A comparison of occurrences in Latin texts (from the earliest period to the end of the sixth century) brings out the fact that the two lexemes had a wide variety of usages. These usages can be classified as meanings and as semantic variants, using various criteria, especially that of their autonomy from or their dependence on the context. A comparison of these meanings, defined by their Semmes, shows that the polysemy of forma is articulated synchronically around two poles: "form" (taken as a concrete quality) and "pattern". Each meaning is indeed linked, directly or indirectly, to one of the two poles; the relationship may be one of close polysemy, distant polysemy, restricted meaning, metonymy or metaphor. Two rare meanings are exceptions to this rule: their relationship to the others is one of homonymy. The polysemy of formula follows only partially that of forma: it is articulated around the "pattern" pole, with the specific meanings of formula being distinct from the corresponding meanings of forma by their more specialized character. From a diachronic point of view, it is possible to work backwards to a reconstructed meaning of "stability", solidification", and this means that, from amongst the various possible etymologies, one must choose the one based on the i. Ce travail ne porte pas sur l'histoire de la gloire ou de l'éloge ni ne décrit la notion de mérite. Cette étude sémantique s'attache à montrer comment les mots gloria et laus contribuent à exprimer ces idées. Chacun d'eux présente une riche polysémie exposée par la méthode de l'analyse sémique et à travers des rapprochements avec les référents correspondants (chapitres I à IV). Gloria a plusieurs sens : "gloire", "titre de gloire-mérite", "désir-sentiment de la gloire", "personne source de prestige", "personne célèbre", "ornement", "vanité" et leur unité semble résider dans l'idée de prestige éclatant, d'où un rapprochement étymologique avec la racine *gel "briller". Plus délicate est la recherche d'un élément sémantique commun à ses nombreux sens de laus : "éloge", "titre de louange-mérite", "gloire", "estime", "personne source de prestige", mais les trois premiers sens, qui sont les plus anciens, peuvent trouver une unité dans l'idée d'approbation, ce qui oriente sans certitude vers l'étrusque lautni "acquitte, approuve". Denna uppsats undersöker hur en utveckling av en medial identitet går till. Vilka faktorer får en medieidentitet att ändra dess mediala bild och framtoning? För att besvara denna fråga studerar jag en artistkarriär som har genomgått stora förändringar, vilka har inneburit att även dess medieidentitet kraftigt förändrat framtoning. Artistkarriären jag har valt att studera närmare är förgrundsfiguren från Latin Kings, Douglas ”Dogge” Leóns. Metoden för att genomföra denna studie grundar sig i textanalys av de mediala framträdanden Dogge gjort i sin karriär.
This paper examines how a development of a mediated identity come about. Which factors get’s a mediated identity to change it’s public picture or image? To answer this question I studie an artist career with a very substantial development. The career I have choosen to follow is the one of Douglas ”Dogge” Leóns from the band Latin Kings. The method to make this paper work is text analysis of his apperance in swedish media during his career.

Politeness serves to manage social relations or is wielded as an instrument of power. Through good manners, people demonstrate their educational background and social rank. This is the first book to bring together the most recent scholarship on politeness and impoliteness in Ancient Greek and Latin, signalling both its universal and its culture-specific traits. Leading scholars analyse texts by canonical classical authors (including Plato, Cicero, Euripides, and Plautus), as well as non-literary sources, to provide glimpses into the courtesy and rudeness of Greek and Latin speakers. A wide range of interdisciplinary approaches is adopted, namely pragmatics, conversation analysis, and computational linguistics. This chapter first examines the oral dimension of the dissemination of Sinitic texts in East Asia. Although a few individuals who had spent many years in China or who were of Chinese origin were able to read Chinese texts in some form of Chinese pronunciation, this was not the case even for most members of the elites, for few spent much time in China. In most societies, conventional pronunciations developed for Chinese characters and these conformed to local phonologies. The first stage of vernacularization, therefore, was in the oral domain. Conversely, however, since there was no common spoken language like Latin, opportunities for intellectual exchange with people from other societies were limited. The remainder of this chapter, therefore, examines the limited extent to which interpreters were trained and other people learned spoken foreign languages. The chapter concludes with an examination of brush conversation, a written substitute for oral conversation.

It affords us real pleasure to present this editorial on behalf of the Majority World Christian Leaders Conversation (MWCLC). The MWCLC started slowly, but surely since 2016, following a groundbreaking conversation among eleven mission practitioners from the Majority World who met in the United Kingdom somewhere between London and Oxford. At the meeting, several themes emerged under the banner of missionary questions and impulses of the Majority World, from the perspective of the reign of God. These themes and more find reflection in the book. However, before proceeding to the content of the anthology, a note on the concept “Majority World” seems necessary. The time where terms like “Third World” gained strong currency, is long since gone. The term “Majority World” is a new kid on the block and requires some clarification. The use of the term is a strategy of avoiding concepts like “Developing” or “Third World” or even “Global South” which are pejorative in a real sense. To speak of the Majority World is geographically accurate in that Africa, Asia and Latin America are included.

This book provides a comprehensive and sustained treatment of the theme of wisdom in the Christian tradition. Following a survey of the biblical and classical background, it offers a detailed exploration of the theme of wisdom in patristic, byzantine, and medieval theology up to and including Gregory Palamas and Thomas Aquinas in Greek East and Latin West, respectively. Three principal levels of Christian wisdom discourse are distinguished: wisdom as human attainment, wisdom as divine gift, and wisdom as an attribute or quality of God. This journey through Wisdom in Christian Tradition is undertaken in conversation with modern Russian Sophiology, one of the most popular and widely discussed theological movements of our time, characterized by the idea of a primal pre-principle of divine-human unity (‘Sophia’) manifest in both uncreated and created forms. Sophiology is a complex phenomenon with multiple sources and inspirations, including the Church Fathers. Fidelity to patristic tradition became an ever-increasing feature of its self-understanding and self-articulation, above all in the work of Fr Sergius Bulgakov (1871–1944). Sophiology’s ‘unmodern turn’ to patristic sources has, however, long been fiercely contested. This book is the first to thoroughly evaluate the nature and substance of this claim to patristic continuity. The final chapter offers a radical re-thinking of sophiology in line with patristic tradition. This re-oriented sophiology maintains sophiology’s most distinctive insights and most pertinent applications while divesting it of some its more problematic elements

The Septuagint is the term commonly used to refer to the corpus of early Greek versions of Hebrew Scriptures. The collection is of immense importance in the history of both Judaism and Christianity. The renderings of individual books attest to the religious interests of the substantial Jewish population of Egypt during the Hellenistic and Roman periods, and to the development of the Greek language in its Koine phase. The narrative ascribing the Septuagint’s origins to the work of seventy translators in Alexandria attained legendary status among both Jews and Christians. The Septuagint was the version of Scripture most familiar to the writers of the New Testament, and became the authoritative Old Testament of the Greek and Latin Churches. In the early centuries of Christianity it was itself translated into several other languages, and it has had a continuing influence on the style and content of biblical translations. In the Oxford Handbook of the Septuagint leading experts in the field write on the history and manuscript transmission of the version, and explain the study of translation technique and textual criticism. They provide surveys of previous and current research on individual books of the Septuagint corpus, on alternative Jewish Greek versions, the Christian ‘daughter’ translations, and reception in early Jewish and Christian writers. The handbook also includes several ‘conversations’ with related fields of interest such as New Testament studies, liturgy, and art history.

Colonial Phantoms argues that Dominican cultural expression from the late nineteenth century to the present day reveals the ghosted singularities of Dominican history and demographic composition. For centuries, the territory hosted a majority mixed-race free population whose negotiations with colonial power were deeply ambivalent. Disquieted by the predominating black freedom, Western discourses ghosted—mis-categorized or erased—the Dominican Republic from the most important global conversations and decisions of the 19th century. What kind of national culture do you create when leaders of the world powers, on whose recognition you depend, rarely remember your nation’s name? Dominicans, both island and diasporic, have expressed their dissatisfaction with dominant descriptors and interpellations through literature, music, and speech acts. These expressions run the gamut from ultra-conservative, anti-Haitian nationalist literature to present-day Afro-Latinx activism. Dominant fields of knowledge constructed to account for various modes of being in the Americas have not been able to discern, and, in some cases, have helped to obscure, the kinds of free black subjectivity that emerged in the Dominican Republic. Analyzing literature, government documents, music, the visual arts, public monuments, film, and ephemeral and stage performance, this book intervenes at the level of knowledge production and analysis by disrupting some of the fields. In so doing, it establishes a framework for placing Dominican expressive culture and historical formations at the forefront of a number of scholarly investigations of colonial modernity in the Americas, the African diaspora, geographic displacement (e.g., migration and exile), and international divisions of labor.

It is striking that none of pagan Rome’s jurists felt that the term ‘secularity’, or ‘secularization’, might be necessary to describe a mode of Roman life, or a function of Roman law. Where then do these words originate? ‘Secularity’ is a coinage of medieval Christian writers. When ‘secularity’ occurs in a text by a twelfth-century monk, for instance, it is sharply contrasted with the monastic form of life (conversatio monachorum). And ‘secularization’ is a creation of medieval canon law. Originally, ‘secularization’ signified the protocols for laicizing a monastic in the Roman Church. Though both terms are medieval, this chapter argues that they may ultimately derive from a European Ur-text in which the concept of an ‘age’, or saeculum, is decisive: the Latin New Testament. This chapter seeks to show that the saeculum is a motif in Jesus’ sayings in Luke and in Paul’s letters (in their continent-shaping Latin translations).

Abstract The classical past is a pervasive presence in English poetry from the early Middle Ages to the present day, and particularly in the centuries which are the main concern of the present volume. Many of the most prominent English poetic forms – epic, verse-tragedy, ode, formal satire, elegy, pastoral, verse-epistle – derive from classical precedent. English writers have regularly invoked what they took to be the assumptions and criteria of ancient literary criticism. And a long line of English poets has devoted substantial energy and practised artistry to the direct translation of Greek and Latin verse, a topic which will be a central concern of this book. Thus, when the late Philip Larkin remarked that ‘to me the whole of classical and biblical mythology means very little, and I think that using them today not only fills poems full of dead spots but dodges the writer’s duty to be original’,1 he was giving voice, in a deliberately provocative manner, to sentiments that he knew to be unrepresentative even of such well- known contemporaries as W. H. Auden and Louis MacNeice, let alone of the great poets of the past. English writers, to be sure, had often noted the dangers of excessive or injudicious use of classical material, or expressed more open hostility to classical influences.

This chapter discusses Henry Kissinger's relationship with military dictatorships, analyzing U.S. policies toward Paraguay, Brazil, and Uruguay. What is evident is that the secretary of state was comfortable and loquacious in the presence of men who authorized mass murder, torture, and terrorism. His most revealing memorandums of conversations on political philosophy are with military dictators and their minions. The mayhem created by these military ideologues forced Kissinger to confront the issues of human rights and international terrorism. Kissinger's intellectual defense of military extremism, his reluctant embrace of human rights matters, and his policies toward the military dictatorships revealed fundamental tenets about his character and his concept of international relations.

Influenced by Che Guevara’s writings on revolution and self-transformation, the Young Lords launched the “revolution within the revolution”— a deliberate struggle to name and challenge manifestations of power dynamics, racism, sexism, and homophobia in their ranks. The trademark slogan of second wave feminism, “the personal is political,” articulated the challenge. Among the Lords, an increase in female membership propelled a fierce struggle against male chauvinism that well-positioned women to have their voices heard, leadership respected, and demands met. To that end, the group edited its program and platform; drafted rules against sexism; Denise Oliver was appointed to its formal leadership; and formed men’s caucus and women’s caucus to discuss gender oppression internally. Influenced by Franz Fanon, the Lords also challenged anti-black racism in the psyche of the oppressed, including widely used language that devalues curly hair, dark complexion, African facial features and the tendency among Puerto Ricans and Latinos to deny their ethnicity and blackness and distance themselves from black Americans. The Young Lords prioritized Afro-Latino leadership, including that of Felipe Luciano; theorized race ideology in Latin America; and made public a conversation about race that had been confined to hushed whispers among Puerto Ricans and Latinos.

In this conversation, Alejandra Escalante and Daniel José Molina tackle the nuances of portraying Shakespearean characters as Latinx actors. Although currently living in New York, they have both worked extensively for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF), and they met when starring in the lead roles of OSF’s Romeo and Juliet in 2012. They shared the stage again at OSF in The Tempest (2014) and in Henry IV, Part I (2016). Their onstage relationships soon took on an offstage life, with the two marrying each other in 2018. They have both performed Shakespeare in Spanish in various roles. In this dialogue, they discuss their background with Shakespeare, the process of translating his work into Spanish, and their history with performing in plays written by Latinx playwrights.

This chapter describes quantification during the late nineteenth century. Then, most ordinary people were gaining an overt awareness, and probability notions were seeping into everyday conversation and decision-making. However, new forms of abstract mathematics were being developed, albeit with some opposition from Lewis Carroll (Charles Dodgson), who wanted to preserve traditionalist views of Euclidian geometry. The chapter introduces William Gossett, who worked in the laboratory of the Guinness brewery and developed “t-distribution,” which was published as “Student’s t-test.” It also describes his friendship with Sir Ronald Fisher, who developed many statistical hypothesis testing methods, published in The Design of Experiments, such as the ANOVA procedure, and the F ratio. Fisher also developed many research designs for hypothesis testing, both simple and complex, including the Latin squares design, as well as providing a classic description of inferential testing in the thought experiment called “the lady tasting tea.”

In the spring and summer of 1525, Ulrich Zwingli published three works that rejected Christ’s corporeal presence, although Zwingli distanced himself from Karlstadt. Even more important was Johannes Oecolampadius’s treatise arguing that the church fathers had not taught Christ’s bodily presence. These Latin pamphlets generated a lively underground debate in letters and private conversations among reformers throughout southern Germany and Switzerland, and Erasmus did his best to distance himself from the position of his former associates. Zwingli’s pamphlets were translated into German and so contributed further to the vernacular discussion initiated by Karlstadt. Zwingli developed his understanding of the sacraments in attacks on Anabaptists who shared his understanding of the Lord’s Supper but rejected infant baptism. At the end of 1525, there was no clear distinction between the positions of Karlstadt and Zwingli, and the Wittenbergers considered Oecolampadius to be their most dangerous opponent

Abstract Chapter 1 explores early humanist efforts to establish Homer as the head of a Renaissance epic tradition. Readings of Francesco Petrarch’s Africa and Trionfi and Angelo Poliziano’s Silvae reveal that from its earliest days, Renaissance epic establishes speech with Homer as the ultimate proof of a poet’s place in the epic tradition. Throughout Petrarch’s epic output, metaphors of deafness and muteness to Homer and his heroes contrast with the language of hearing and speech that describes Petrarch’s relationships with Latin poets and reveal the limitations of the humanist poetics of imitation that Petrarch himself did so much to develop. Petrarch’s strategies to overcome Homeric silence resonate through two centuries of Italian and neo-Latin poetry. They lay out the challenge of poetic reckonings with Homer and the Homeric tradition taken up by later poets—most spectacularly Angelo Poliziano. In his presentation of Odysseus as a hero of experience and his choice of an Odyssean ending, Poliziano anticipates developments in the later epic tradition. As Petrarch’s humanism gives way to Poliziano’s, Homer begins to emerge from Virgil’s shadow as a predecessor who cannot be subsumed in ‘the classical epic tradition’ but must be heard and reckoned with independently. These poems distinguish Homer from Virgil, looking to him for alternatives to Virgil’s authority, exemplarity, and ethics. They turn the humanist problem of recovering original sources into a poetic problem of performing authority. For Renaissance epic poets, the immense challenge of creating an authorizing conversation with Homer becomes itself a heroic enterprise.

Most everyone can agree that the schools of today are not effectively preparing children for that workforce, but it’s much more difficult to predict what it will actually look like. Instead perhaps we should be focusing on outlining a few key principles that will help people thrive in life no matter what happens. Without certain core abilities, even extreme knowledge or job-specific skills will not be worth much in the long run. To address these issues, HundrED and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) conducted this Spotlight project with the goal of identifying and researching leading innovations that focus on 21st Century Skills in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The article examines modern media texts in the field of political journalism; the role of information narratives and emotional markers in media doctrine is clarified; verbal expression of rational meanings in the articles of famous Ukrainian analysts is shown. Popular theories of emotions in the process of cognition are considered, their relationship with the author’s personality, reader psychology and gonzo journalism is shown. Since the media text, in contrast to the text, is a product of social communication, the main narrative is information with the intention of influencing public opinion. Media text implies the presence of the author as a creator of meanings. In addition, media texts have universal features: word, sound, visuality (stills, photos, videos). They are traditionally divided into radio, TV, newspaper and Internet texts. The concepts of multimedia and hypertext are related to online texts. Web combinations, especially in political journalism, have intensified the interactive branching of nonlinear texts that cannot be published in traditional media. The Internet as a medium has created the conditions for the exchange of ideas in the most emotional way. Hence Gonzo’s interest in journalism, which expresses impressions of certain events in words and epithets, regardless of their stylistic affiliation. There are many such examples on social media in connection with the events surrounding the Wagnerians, the Poroshenko case, Russia’s new aggression against Ukraine, and others. Thus, the study of new features of media text in the context of modern political narratives and emotional markers is important in media research. The article focuses review of etymology, origin and features of using lexemes “cмисл (meaning)” and “сенс (sense)” in linguistic practice of Ukrainians results in the development of meanings and functional stylistic coloring in the usage of these units. Lexemes “cмисл (meaning)” and “сенс (sense)” are used as synonyms, but there are specific fields of meanings where they cannot be interchanged: lexeme “сенс (sense)” should be used when it comes to reasonable grounds for something, lexeme “cмисл (meaning)” should be used when it comes to notion, concept, understanding. Modern political texts are most prominent in genres such as interviews with politicians, political commentaries, analytical articles by media experts and journalists, political reviews, political portraits, political talk shows, and conversations about recent events, accompanied by effective emotional narratives. Etymologically, the concept of “narrative” is associated with the Latin adjective “gnarus” – expert. Speakers, philosophers, and literary critics considered narrative an “example of the human mind.” In modern media texts it is not only “story”, “explanation”, “message techniques”, “chronological reproduction of events”, but first of all the semantic load and what subjective meanings the author voices; it is a process of logical presentation of arguments (narration). The highly professional narrator uses narration as a “method of organizing discourse” around facts and impressions, impresses with his political erudition, extraordinary intelligence and creativity. Some of the above theses are reflected in the following illustrations from the Ukrainian media: “Culture outside politics” – a pro-Russian narrative…” (MP Gabibullayeva); “The next will be Russia – in the post-Soviet space is the Arab Spring…” (journalist Vitaly Portnikov); “In Russia, only the collapse of Ukraine will be perceived as success” (Pavel Klimkin); “Our army is fighting, hiding from the leadership” (Yuri Butusov).
