Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
Toad Venom (TV) is the dried product of toxic secretions from Bufo bufo gargarizans Cantor (BgC) or B. melanostictus Schneider (BmS). Given the increasing medical demand and the severe depletion of wild toads, a number of counterfeit TVs appeared on the market, posing challenges to its quality control. In order to develop an efficient, feasible, and comprehensive approach to evaluate TV quality, a thorough analysis and comparison of chemical compounds among legal species BgC and BmS, as well as the main confusion species B. andrewsi Schmidt (BaS) and B. raddei Strauch (BrS), were conducted by ultra-performance liquid chromatography–quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), sodium dodecylsulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), and Nano LC-MS/MS analyses. We identified 126 compounds, including free or conjugated bufadienolides, indole alkaloids and amino acids, among the four Bufo species. The content of main bufadienolides, such as gamabufotalin, bufotalin, bufalin, cinobufagin, and resibufogenin, and the total protein contents varied widely among 28 batches of TV due to their origin species. The sum of the five bufadienolides within the BgC, BmS, BaS, and BrS samples were 8.15–15.93%, 2.45–4.14%, 11.15–13.50%, and 13.21–14.68%, respectively. The total protein content of BgC (6.9–24.4%) and BaS (19.1–20.6%) samples were higher than that of BmS (4.8–20.4%) and BrS (10.1–13.7%) samples. Additionally, a total of 1357 proteins were identified. There were differences between the protein compositions among the samples of the four Bufo species. The results indicated that BgC TV is of the highest quality; BaS and BrS TV could serve as alternative resources, whereas BmS TV performed poorly overall. This research provides evidence for developing approaches to evaluate TV quality and selecting the proper Bufo species as the origin source of TV listed in the Chinese pharmacopoeia.

Abstract (sommario):
Background Extensive literature revealed the relations of depression with behavioral inhibition system (BIS) and behavioral activation system (BAS) as vulnerability and with resilience separately. Besides, the concept of resilience is still broad and ambiguous. Thus, this study aimed to reveal the mediation of two aspects of resilience: trait and process, in the relations of BIS and BAS to depression among adolescents. Methods The data set used in this study was a cross-sectional survey among 965 adolescents. The obtained data from the self-reported questionnaires used in this study were as below: Depression Serf-Rating Scale for Children (DSRS-C), Behavioral Inhibition and Behavioral Activation System Scale (BIS/BASS), and Bidimensional Resilience Scale (BRS). Structural equation modeling (SEM) was conducted to verify the hypothesized relations among BIS/BAS, trait and behavior resilience, and depressive symptoms. Results The obtained indices of fit from SEM were good or sufficient (χ2 = 562.911, df = 96, p < 0.001; CFI = 0.925; NFI = 0.913; RMSEA = 0.073, 90% CI [0.067, 0.079]; SRMR = 0.066). And the modeling showed that both BIS/BAS directly and indirectly influenced to depression. The indirect effects of BIS/BAS were mediated only trait resilience except the indirect effect of BIS via behavioral resilience. Discussion Our results suggested that trait resilience played a significant mediation role in the relationships between BIS/BAS and depression. Trait but not process resilience could be considered suitable as an intervention target in line with decreasing depression.

Abstract (sommario):
The performance of GIS bus is directly linked with its heat radiation and temperature rise, and its long-time overheating may cause partial discharge and bus burn-up, posing a threat to the reliability of power system. This paper, based on heat transfer theory and taking into account convection and radiation heat transfer, builds the energy conservation equation and iteratively calculates the temperatures of the bus conductor and shell. The comparison of the calculation results with experimental data has confirmed the correctness of the calculation.

Abstract (sommario):
In this paper, we explore users’ intentions to use bike-sharing systems (BSS) compared to traditional competitive transport modes—private car, bus and walking. Fueled by the increasingly rampant growth of shared economy and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), shared mobility is gaining increasing traction. The numbers of shared mobility schemes are rapidly growing worldwide and are accompanied by changes in the traditional vehicle ownership model. In order to pinpoint the factors that strongly affect the willingness to use BSS, a stated preference survey among car and bus users as well as pedestrians was designed and conducted. Binary logit models of the choice between the currently preferred transportation modes and BSSs were developed, for short and long-duration trips, respectively. The results highlight a distinctive set of factors and patterns affecting the willingness to adopt bike-sharing: choice is most sensitive to travel time and cost of the competitive travel options. In general, users are more willing to make the switch to a BSS, especially for short trip durations, when their typical mode of transport becomes more expensive. Bike-sharing also seems to be a more attractive option for certain user socio-demographic groups per mode and trip duration (age, education level, employment status, household income). Trip characteristics such as trip purpose and frequency were also found to affect the willingness to choose BSS. In general, BSS seem to mainly attract bus users and pedestrians, while car users may use BSS more sparingly, mainly for commuting purposes.

Abstract (sommario):
This study is designed to evaluate the main factors affecting the bus service quality and customer satisfaction in bus services to travel from Phnom Penh to Poipet which are providing by private companies. It examines and explores the consumer expectation on service quality of bus transport through the SERVQUAL’s 5 dimensions such as tangible, reliability, assurance, empathy, and responsiveness. This research study is intended to collect data from participants to investigate the relationship among five components of service quality and customer satisfaction. The independent variable used throughout this study is overall satisfaction with bus transport service. Independent variables are specific service quality attributes which consist of service given, access, availability, time and environment. From the finding, on interesting finding was that in the question of customer’s reason to use the BTS of private companies in Cambodia, in which “suitable traveling” ranked last among other factor (location convenience, appreciate price, no choice, good service). Also, more than half of the respondents stated they maybe use the BTS again in the future, because there is no choice for them. Therefore, it can be clearly seen that this research was focusing at right point. Despite the fact that half of the respondents rated their satisfaction level of the “poor” level, and nearly half of the respondents rated their satisfaction level in “average” level. Nevertheless, not so many customers preferred to use the BTS because of its service convenience. Service quality is an important consideration in a successful service business. By the time, this research was conducted, the highly competitive market conditions in Cambodia’s bus transport service industry had forced service operators to deliver high-quality service to customers. In order to provide that, the service operators should first focus on understanding customers’ needs and their expectations before implementing the suitable service strategy to meet the customers’ needs.

Abstract (sommario):
Background: Although behavioural activation therapy is effective for depression there is always room for improvement, and also the need to extend this treatment modality to anxiety disorders. Method: A search was conducted for an easy to apply and effective method of achieving these aims. Results: To both enhance the effectiveness of behavioural activation treatment for depression and facilitate its extension to anxiety disorders, it is proposed that the Behavioral Approach/Activation System (BAS) and Behavioral Inhibition System (BIS) be incorporated. BIS/BAS Scales are easy to administer and evaluate ensuring that there is minimal added complexity. Overall, BAS, BAS subscale (Drive, Reward Responsiveness, and Fun Seeking) and BIS scores provide valuable information pertaining to a person's approach and avoidance responses. This general information, plus that derived from specific scale items, can be used to guide more focused and effective behavioural activation strategies. Brief case examples are provided to demonstrate how the BIS/BAS Scales can be applied. Conclusion: BIS/BAS Scales offer an easy to apply and effective means of enhancing behavioural activation therapy for depression and extending this treatment modality to anxiety disorders.

Abstract (sommario):
Objective Individual differences in attachment insecurity are important in a broad range of mental health problems. However, few empirical studies have examined the clinical factors that contribute to individual differences in attachment style. This study examines the nature of interrelationships among adult attachment styles, sensitivities of behavioral activation system/behavioral inhibition system (BIS/BAS), and childhood trauma in patients with depressive disorders. Methods Patients with depressive disorders (n=294) completed self-report questionnaires evaluating adult attachment style, childhood trauma, and BIS/BAS sensitivity. We performed multiple regression analyses to examine the associations between attachment style and other clinical factors, including childhood trauma and BIS/BAS sensitivity. We also conducted hierarchical regression analyses and simple slope analyses to examine the interaction between BIS/BAS sensitivity and childhood trauma. Results The BAS sensitivity was negatively associated with attachment avoidance. The higher was the BIS/BAS sensitivity, the higher was the level of attachment anxiety. Among childhood trauma, emotional neglect contributed to both dimensions of insecure attachment. The interaction between BAS sensitivity and emotional neglect is significantly associated with attachment anxiety. Conclusion This study used data regarding the interrelationship of childhood trauma and basic motivational systems to contribute to the understanding of adult insecure attachment behaviors, a risk factor for depression.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper studies the fin thickness variation effect on a bus duct conductor’s thermal performance and the nanocomposite coating method selection for the bus duct conductor’s heat sink. ANSYS FLUENT was used to create a numerical model resembling the experimental setup. The IEC 60439-1 and IEC 60439-2 standards were used to benchmark the experimental data. The results revealed that the “chimney effect” induces an increment of the hot air adjacent to the heat sink. A conspicuous increase in the total heat transfer rate and fin effectiveness was observed as the fin thickness was reduced. This study revealed that s1 = 1 mm was the best fin thickness with 1.254 fin effectiveness, 1.862 W of total heat transfer rate, and 17.5 Nusselt number. Additionally, various coating methods were examined experimentally to select the best nanocomposite coating for the bus duct conductor’s heat sink. The ultrasonic agitation was the best coating method, which resulted in the lowest average resistance (8.8 μΩ) and a better percentage of Ag (0.6%–2.5%) on the substrate surface. Thus, the current outcomes are expected to better comprehend the impact of fin thickness on thermal performance, as well as the selection of coating method for the bus duct conductor.

Abstract (sommario):
Intimate partner violence is a multidimensional phenomenon encompassing psychological, physical, and sexual components. Violence in young couples is common in our society. This kind of violence is usually bidirectional, which adds to its complexity. This study aimed to explore how victimization (in three dimensions: non-abuse, technical mistreatment, and mistreatment) and perpetration (in two dimensions: non-perpetrator and perpetrator) are related to the BIS (Behavioral Inhibition System)/BAS (Behavioral Approach System), and it also evaluated if the dimensions of emotional intelligence (EI) (emotional attention, clarity, and regulation) mediate this relationship. Violence was evaluated in 272 young volunteer participants, as well as BIS/BAS behavioral sensitivity and perceived emotional intelligence. The correlations between these variables were analyzed, and a mediation analysis was also conducted. The results show that victimization (of the sexual and coercive type) was associated with less BAS activation, while victimization (of the sexual, humiliation, and detachment types) was associated with less BIS activity. All types of victimization were associated with less EI, specifically with less emotional clarity. Aggression (of the sexual, humiliation, detachment, and coercion types) was related to lower BAS and higher BIS sensitivity. Detachment aggression was associated with low emotional clarity. In conclusion, relationships between victimization and perpetration are evidenced in terms of BIS/BAS sensitivity and EI. Specifically, the dimension of EI emotional clarity acts as a mediator of BIS activation in victims of detachment.

Abstract (sommario):
Financial inclusion (FI) relates to the access and availability of financial services to society, especially in low-income groups. FI is pivotal in achieving 7 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This paper explores the level of FI in the rural areas of Maharashtra and measures the impact of FI on the social conditions of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) prevalent in these areas. The study is based on a 424 SHGs survey conducted in the Pune, Thane, and Palghar districts of Maharashtra, India. The impact of FI on SHGs is evaluated using a Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results of the study show that physical banking services, Business Facilitators (BFs), and Business Correspondents (BCs) improve the social conditions of rural SHGs. Additionally, BCs and BFs mediate the relationship between physical banking services and social conditions. The study also reveals an insignificant association between BCs and BFs and insurance services. The present study highlights the importance of increasing the awareness of insurance policies through financial literacy programs and making timely availability and accessibility of BCs and BFs to enhance financial inclusion in rural areas.

Abstract (sommario):
This study addresses the problem of selecting the conductor sizes for medium-voltage distribution networks with radial configurations. The optimization model that represents this problem is part of the mixed-integer non-linear programming (MINLP) models, in which a power flow must be solved for each possible combination of conductor sizes. The main objective of this optimization problem is to find the best set of conductor sizes that minimize an economic objective function composed of the total costs of conducting materials added with the expected annual costs of the energy losses by proposing a new hybrid optimization methodology from the family of combinatorial optimization methods. To solve the MINLP model, a master–slave optimization method based on the modified version of the gradient-based metaheuristic optimizer (MGbMO) combined with the successive approximation power flow method for unbalanced distribution networks is presented. The MGbMO defines the set of conductor sizes assignable for each distribution line using an integer codification. The slave stage (three-phase power flow) quantifies the total power losses and their expected annual operating costs. Numerical results in the IEEE 8-, 27-, and 85-bus grids demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed master–slave optimizer when compared with multiple combinatorial optimization methods (vortex search algorithm, the Newton-metaheuristic optimizer, the traditional and Chu and Beasley genetic algorithms, and the tabu search approaches). Two scenarios regarding the demand behavior were analyzed for the IEEE 8- and 27-bus grids: a peak load operation was considered, and, for the IEEE 85-bus grid, the daily demand behavior, including the presence of renewable generators, was considered. The 85-bus grid allowed showing that the most realistic operative scenario for selecting conductors is the case where a demand curve is implemented since reductions over 40% in the annual investment and operating costs were found when compared to the peak load operating condition. All numerical validations were performed in MATLAB software.

Abstract (sommario):
Switching-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) are often used to power on-board satellite payloads due to their good conversion efficiency. However, they emit radiated and conducted noise, which can disturb the operation of other payloads. The current ripple sum of the power supplies will appear on the power bus. There are many methods to reduce this summarized noise, one of them is to interleave the on-switching times of the converters. This ripple cancellation method can decrease the noise component on the switching frequency and on its upper harmonics. In this article we are going to demonstrate the effects of the distributed interleaving with a measurement platform consisting of two Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) controlled Buck controllers.

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
Express buses provide cheap and convenient services for long distance travelling. However, the safety aspect of express buses is a primary concern for passengers. The government and the private sector have contributed in improving the safety level of express buses. However, the accident and death rates involving express buses remains at a high level. There is a lack of detailed analysis regarding express bus accidents from the perspective of bus operators. Thus, this study was conducted to identify the causes of express bus accidents, characterize the statistical factors of express bus accidents and evaluate the safety of express buses in Malaysia from the perspectives of bus operators. The methodology consists of a survey conducted among staffs serving express bus operators located at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The results showed that from bus operators’ perspective, road factors are the main contributors to the factors of occurrence of express bus accidents. In conclusion, the statistical characterization of accident causes has been determined and this can contribute in helping the bus operators and the community reduce express bus accidents and increase overall safety.

Abstract (sommario):
The Revised reinforcement sensitivity theory contains three basic systems: Behavioral inhibition system (BAS), Behavioral activation system (BIS) and the Fight/ Flight/ Freeze (FFF) system. In this model, BIS is a system for detection of potential conflict or threat, and FFFS differs three basic patterns of reaction to actual or perceived danger. In Study 1, which was aimed at the examination of the latent structure of the RSQ, was conducted on a sample of 472 participants of both genders. The best - fitting model suggests that, at the top level of hierarchy, three dimensions exist, which are analogous to the BIS, BAS and FFF. The last dimension contains three subordinate dimensions, which represent the subsystems of the FFF. Study 2, in which 203 subjects participated, was aimed at examination of the relations between the dimensions of the Revised reinforcement sensitivity theory and dimensions of the PEN model. Confirmatory factor analyses of the RSQ and EPQ-R dimensions revealed that the best-fitting model comprised three latent dimensions, the first one being analogous to the BIS - Neuroticism, the second one to the BAS - Extraversion, and the third to the Aggressiveness- Psychoticism. The structure of the latent dimensions is in accordance with the expectations. The results state that fear and anxiety (which neurophysiological distinction is emphasized by Gray), are substantively similar on the behavioral level. Also, the results suggest that the Freeze dimension is probably closer to the BIS system than to the FFF.

Abstract (sommario):
The widespread deployment of distributed generation (DG) has significantly impacted the planning and operation of current distribution networks. The environmental benefits and the reduced installation cost have been the primary drivers for the investment in large-scale wind farms and photovoltaics (PVs). However, the distribution network operators (DNOs) face the challenge of conductor upgrade and selection problems due to the increasing capacity of DG. In this paper, a hybrid optimization approach is introduced to solve the optimal conductor size selection (CSS) problem in the distribution network with high penetration of DGs. An adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) is employed as the primary optimization strategy to find the optimal conductor sizes for distribution networks. The aim of the proposed approach is to minimize the sum of life-cycle cost (LCC) of the selected conductor and the total energy procurement cost during the expected operation periods. Alternating current optimal power flow (AC-OPF) analysis is applied as the secondary optimization strategy to capture the economic dispatch (ED) and return the results to the primary optimization process when a certain conductor arrangement is assigned by AGA. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for optimal CSS is validated through simulations on modified IEEE 33-bus and IEEE 69-bus distribution systems.

Abstract (sommario):
Background. The process of psychotherapy of alcohol-addicted persons becomes effective through understanding the relationship between self-activation motives, the state of self-regulation and their social functioning. Purpose: To study the relationship between the assessment of self-activation, volitional self-regulation and the types of interpersonal relationships in alcohol-dependent persons in order to determine therapeutic «targets» for a targeted impact on dependent constructs in the process of psychotherapy. Material and methods. The study was conducted on the basis of the medical and labor dispensary (LTP) No.5 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. A total of 250 men aged 24 to 60 years were examined. Group I included persons with alcohol dependence syndrome, who while in the LTP setting, underwent psychotherapy for persons with alcohol dependence syndrome (150). Group II consisted of persons with alcohol dependence syndrome, who while in the LTP setting, participated in the standard program of medical and social readaptation (100). The following psychodiagnostic methods were used: test questionnaire «Research of volitional self-regulation»; BIS/BAS questionnaire; the technique «Diagnostics of interpersonal relations». Results. The results of assessing the type of interpersonal relationships, volitional self-regulation and sensitivity to positive and negative stimuli did not reveal statistically significant differences between the groups (p>0.05). We identified weak positive relationships in people of group I between «Perseverance» on the BAS scale and the type of relationship «Selfish», «Aggressive», «Suspicious», «Dependent» (p<0.01); between «Pleasure seeking» on the BAS scale and «Authoritarian» (p<0.01), between «Pleasure seeking» on the BAS scale and «Aggressive», «Suspicious», «Dependent» (p<0.01); between BIS and «Suspicious», «Subordinate», «Dependent», «Friendly», «Altruistic» (p<0.05). Weak negative relationships were identified in people of groups I and II between the BIS scale and the scale of volitional self-regulation «Persistence», «General level of volitional self-regulation» (p<0.05). We also identified weak negative relationships in people of group I between the «Self-control» scale and BAS «Persistence», BAS «Pleasure seeking», BAS «Reactivity» (p<0.01); between BAS «Persistence» and BAS «Search for pleasure» and the scale «General level of volitional self-regulation» (p<0.01). Conclusion. The obtained data of relationships made it possible to take into account the dual nature of the selfactivation system and include an intermittent sequence in the process of psychotherapy: the importance of emotional support experience (BAS), leveling and reshaping of negative experience (BIS), reassessment of the subjective significance of one's own personality with the activation of awareness and constructive choice of effective sobriety tools (BAS), the development of a system to counter dependent stimuli and challenges (BIS), the integration of the value of sober thinking into the life system (BAS).

Abstract (sommario):
In recent years, the Taiwan government has been calling for the use of public transportation and has been popularizing pollution-reducing green vehicles. Passenger transport operators are being encouraged to replace traditional buses with electric buses, to increase their use in urban transportation. Reduced energy consumption and operating costs are important operational benefits for passenger transport operators, and driving behavior has a significant impact on fuel consumption. Although many literatures or real-world systems have addressed the issues related to reducing energy consumption with electric buses, these works do not involve the records collected from an on-vehicle battery management system (BMS). Accordingly, the results of analyses of existing works lack in-depth discussions, and therefore the applicability of existing works is insignificant. Therefore, in this study, driving data were collected using a battery management system (BMS), and vehicular power consumption was classified according to energy efficiency. Then, decision trees and random forest were applied to construct energy consumption analytical models. Finally, the driving behaviors that influence energy consumption were investigated. A case study was conducted in which a Taichung passenger transport operator’s electric bus driving data on urban routes were collected to construct energy consumption analytical models. The data consisted of two parts, i.e., vehicle records and route records. On the basis of these records, we considered the practicability and applicability of the analytical models by transforming the unstructured records into raw data. Passenger transport operators and drivers can leverage the obtained eco-driving indicators for different bus routes for energy savings and carbon reduction.

Abstract (sommario):
Uniform standard in the structural design for insulated tubular bus is not available both at China and abroad, and there are few reports about insulated tubular bus, which causes a waste of resources and even leads to grid failure. In this paper, epoxy/paper composites insulated tubular bus was investigated and a two-dimensional model was preferred in the simulation due to the axial symmetry of insulated tubular bus. The distribution of electric field and temperature in composite insulated materials were studied with the changes of the diameter/thickness of copper pipe and the thickness of insulation materials. According to the results simulation results, the structure of insulated tubular bus was optimized, the thickness of copper pipe conductor and insulation had been greatly reduced. Compared to the non-optimized initial structure, the amount of copper pipe conductor used for the optimized insulated tubular bus was reduced by 48%, the amount of insulation materials were reduced by 52.5%, and the current density of copper pipe conductor increased by 92.2%.

Abstract (sommario):
Brillouin frequency shift (BFS) of distributed optical fiber sensor is extracted from the Brillouin gain spectrum (BGS), which is often characterized by Lorenz type. However, in the case of complex stress and optical fiber self damage, the BGS will deviate from Lorenz type and be asymmetric, which leads to the extraction error of BFS. In order to enhance the extraction accuracy of BFS, the Lorenz local single peak fitting algorithm was developed to fit the Brillouin gain spectrum curve, which can make the BSG symmetrical with respect to the Brillouin center frequency shift. One temperature test of a fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) packaged sensor whose BSG curve is asymmetric was conducted to verify the idea. The results show that the local region curve of BSG processed by the developed algorithm has good symmetry, and the temperature measurement accuracy obtained by the developed algorithm is higher than that directly measured by demodulation equipment. Comparison with the reference temperature, the relative measurement error measured by the developed algorithm and BOTDA are within 4% and 8%, respectively.

Abstract (sommario):
Development of distribution systems result in higher system losses and poor voltage regulation. Consequently, an efficient and effective distribution system has become more urgent and important. Hence proper selection of conductors in the distribution system is important as it determines the current density and the resistance of the line. This paper examines the use of different evolutionary algorithms, genetic algorithm (GA), to optimal branch conductor selection in planning radial distribution systems with the objective to minimize the overall cost of annual energy losses and depreciation on the cost of conductors and reliability in order to improve productivity. Furthermore, The Backward-Forward sweep iterative method was adopted to solve the radial load flow analysis. Simulations are carried out on 69-bus radial distribution network using GA approach in order to show the accuracy as well as the efficiency of the proposed solution technique.

Abstract (sommario):
Self-confidence, motivation, and performance outcome are vital for goal-directed behaviour. However, people do not react to a positive and negative performance in the same way. This study examines (a) the relationship between self-confidence and approach/avoidance motivation, and (b) how approach- and avoidance-oriented individuals respond to a performance outcome. The study was conducted on 93 participants. The first part of the study examined the relationship between self-confidence and approach/avoidance motivation within Reinforcement sensitivity theory, while the second part examined changes in motivation and self-efficiency in overconfident, avoidance- and approach-oriented individuals, following the positive and negative performance. Approach and avoidance tendencies were assessed by Reinforcement Sensitivity Questionnaire (RSQ) and Sensitivity to Punishment Sensitivity to Reward Questionnaire (SPSRQ). Correlational analysis showed that the Behavioural Approach System (BAS) and Sensitivity to Reward (SR) correlated positively, while Behavioural Inhibition System (BIS) and Sensitivity to Punishment (SP) correlated negatively with confidence. In addition, moderated regression analysis showed that (a) high BIS, SP and SR individuals were strongly demotivated following the negative performance, (b) while overconfident and high BAS individuals maintained their initial motivation. On the other hand, motivation in high SR, but not in the high BAS and overconfident individuals, increased after the positive performance. None of the scales predicted the change of self-efficacy either after the positive or negative performance. High BAS and low BIS in overconfident individuals may explain why they strive more toward the final goal despite drawbacks. The theoretical and practical implications of findings are discussed in the paper.

Abstract (sommario):
Nearly one third of the population diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD) fail to respond to two or more antidepressant drugs of adequate dose and duration. This necessitates identification of confounding psychological and physiological factors that could contribute to treatment resistant depression (TRD). The present longitudinal study investigated the influence of behavioural inhibition system (BIS) and behavioural approach system (BAS) in treatment resistance. Further, the association of depression severity with physiological factors contributing to arterial stiffness was also investigated. Baseline data was acquired from 101 middle-aged (36–56 years) patients on immediate diagnosis with MDD using DSM-V criteria. Follow ups were conducted at 06 months and 12 months during treatment. Psychological assessment battery at baseline and follow ups comprised of Hamilton depression rating (HAM-D) for depression severity, WHODAS-2 and BIS-BAS score. Atherosclerosis and central arterial stiffness were measured by intima-media thickness of internal carotid artery and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity. Physiological factors influencing central vascular function viz., body-mass index, estimated glomerular filtration rate, HbA1c, central systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate and tetrahydrobiopterin were also investigated. Our results show lower reward responsiveness (BAS-RR) and higher BIS scores in TRD patients along with differentially higher intima-media thickness of left internal carotid artery. Higher depression severity at all stages of the study was correlated with lower tetrahydrobiopterin and BAS-RR scores. We, therefore, suggest that vascular depression resulting due to increased intima-media thickness of left carotid artery and lower tetrahydrobiopterin could be contributing factors for treatment resistance in middle-aged MDD patients.

Abstract (sommario):
This study presents the conceptual design of an intersection bus-pedestrian collision warning system for bus drivers approaching an intersection. The basic parameters of the proposed design concept include the bus drivers’ perception-reaction time, the emergency deceleration rate of the bus, and pedestrian walking speed. A bus driving simulation was designed and conducted to analyze bus drivers’ responses to unexpected pedestrians crossing unsignalized intersections or signalized intersections during a green light interval for parameter analysis. The timings of auditory warnings and visual warnings, the locations for vehicle detectors and pedestrian detectors, and the locations for visual warning devices were also developed after analyzing the experimental results. The experimental results also highlight some important characteristics of bus driving behavior at intersections. Moreover, bus drivers really pay attention to the warning messages. Finally, this study develops and discusses some warning algorithms.

Abstract (sommario):
The headway-based control method is usually used to regulate the bus headways to improve the bus operation. However, these control methods only focus on equalizing bus headways, neglecting analysis for STD (standard deviation) of passengers on the buses. Therefore, in order to fix this gap, this paper analyzed performance of the control method in terms of regulating bus headways and number of passengers on the buses under variable number of buses on the route. First, as an enhanced version of headways-based control method, a coordinated control method based on the self-equalizing bus headways concept involving bus holding and stop-skipping is proposed. A discrete system is formulated to describe the bus operation, and the coordinated control method is imbedded into it. In order to reflect the performance in regulating bus headways and the number of passengers, two indexes are formulated, respectively. Finally, a set of numerical analysis was conducted. The test results showed that the regulated bus headways can make the number of passengers on buses equalized. As a by-product, the headway-based control method can make the bus capacity be well utilized by equalizing bus headways on the bus route.

Abstract (sommario):
The study aims to find factors that generated the ineffective utilization of W.A Gara bus station as the only type A bus station in Palangka Raya and find the strategies for more effective utilization. The study was conducted by using the quantitative-qualitative analysis technique. Primary data was obtained by distributing the questionnaires to the service users who would conduct trips using the bus. The secondary data was obtained from related institutions to support data that facilitated analyzing the problems. The study found that several factors generated ineffective utilization of the bus station, namely location factor, accessibility factor, and security and convenience factor. Abstract (sommario):
Bus ridership is affected by the quality of the bus service. Level of Service (LOS) and bus headways are among the key factors for the quality of bus service. This study aims to measure the quality of bus service based on Level of Service (LOS), the reliability of bus headway and its relationship with the number of private vehicles in George Town CBD of Penang. Several bus route for Rapid Penang bus services (11, 101, 201, 301, CAT and CT7) were selected according to the maximum headway (30 minutes) that calculated using the Transit Capacity and Quality Service Manual (TCQSM). Bus arrival time was observed at the bus stops and the traffic count was conducted to obtain the volume of private vehicles during peak hours. Level of Service (LOS) was determined using TCQSM on-time performance calculations. This study found that bus route No 11, 101, 201 and 301 did not comply with the estimated headway schedule. These bus routes were classified as LOS D and LOS E, whereas bus route CAT showed reliable service with LOS A and LOS B. Interestingly, the findings also reported that the high number of private vehicles affecting only LOS and the reliability of certain bus routes were significant. It shows that there are other limiting factors that cause the bus services unreliable and thus increase the waiting time of passengers.

Abstract (sommario):
Efficient management through monitoring of Li-ion batteries is critical to the progress of electro-mobility and energy storage globally, since the technology can be hazardous if pushed beyond its safety boundaries. Battery management systems (BMSs) are being actively improved to reduce size, weight, and cost while increasing their capabilities. Using power line communication, wireless monitoring, or hybrid data links are one of the most advanced research directions today. In this work, we propose the use of radio frequency (RF) transceivers as a communication unit that can deliver both wired and wireless services, through their superior analog and digital signal processing capability compared to PLC technology. To validate our approach computational simulation and empirical evaluation was conducted to examine the possibility of using RF transceivers on a direct current (DC) bus for wired BMS. A key advantage of this study is that it proposes a flexible and tested system for communication across a variety of network scenarios, where wireless data links over disrupted connections may be enabled by using this technology in short-range wired modes. This investigation demonstrates that the IEEE 802.15.4-compliant transceivers with operating frequencies of 868 MHz and 2.4 GHz can establish stable data links on a DC bus via capacitive coupling at high data rates.

Abstract (sommario):
The use of public buses constitutes the primary daily transportation mode for commuters inside the city of Yangon. The efficiency of the public bus transportation service is important to the local government in terms of public safety and energy saving. The main objective of this study is to understand the current public bus transportation problems in Yangon and to propose a new improved method for the allocation of bus stops. In this study, an on-board survey was conducted to collect bus-passenger counts. Moreover, a check-point survey was carried out to determine the passenger volume at each bus stop and to decide whether the bus stop should be relocated. Finally, a geographic information systems (GIS) model was developed to determine the optimized bus-stop locations based on the passenger volume and on various public-facility locations (such as offices and shopping centers). This study aims to support the Yangon Bus Service (YBS), a major bus transportation service in Yangon city – Myanmar, to optimize its bus network.

Abstract (sommario):
Due to the inherent uncertainties of the bus system, bus bunching remains a challenging problem that degrades bus service reliability and causes passenger dissatisfaction. This paper introduces a novel deep reinforcement learning framework specifically designed to address the bus bunching problem by implementing dynamic holding control in a multi-agent system. We formulate the bus holding problem as a decentralized, partially observable Markov decision process and develop an event-driven simulator to emulate real-world bus operations. An approach based on deep Q-learning with parameter sharing is proposed to train the agents. We conducted extensive experiments to evaluate the proposed framework against multiple baseline strategies. The proposed approach has proven to be adaptable to the uncertainties in bus operations. The results highlight the significant advantages of the deep reinforcement learning framework across various performance metrics, including reduced passenger waiting time, more balanced bus load distribution, decreased occupancy variability, and shorter travel time. The findings demonstrate the potential of the proposed method for practical application in real-world bus systems, offering promising solutions to mitigate bus bunching and enhance overall service quality.
