RÉSUMÉCette étude a pour but d’identifier les facteurs inhibitant et facilitant l’utilisation de l’autobus chez les personnes âgées de 60 ans et plus d’établir des priorités d’intervention. Deux méthodologies complémentaires, la technique du groupe nominal et l’ethnographie systémique, furent utilisées pour identifier les facteurs inhibiteurs et facilitants et en plus de les classer par ordre d’importance. Deux emplacements de Queensland en Australie etaient choisis: 227 personnes âgées ont participé à la technique du groupe nominal et 40 personnes agées ont participé à l’ethnographie systémique. Sept priorités d’intervention pour des systèmes d’autobus facilement accessibles pour les personnes âgées ont émergé des données obtenues: entrée et sortie du véhicule, amabilité et serviabilité du conducteur d’autobus, horaires des autobus, emplacement des arrêts d’autobus, infrastructure pour les piétons, information et formation pour des aînés et itinéraires et destinations des autobus. Ces résultats permettent aux chercheurs, aux preneurs de décisions et aux fournisseurs de transport de déterminer des directions stratégiques fondées sur des données probantes dans le but d’en arriver à des systèmes d’autobus facilement accessibles aux personnes âgées. Les deux méthodes génèrent des perspectives complémentaires concernant la convivialité de l’utilisation de l’autobus qui n’auraient pas été obtenues par chacune des méthodes utilisée seule.

Abstract (sommario):
Toad Venom (TV) is the dried product of toxic secretions from Bufo bufo gargarizans Cantor (BgC) or B. melanostictus Schneider (BmS). Given the increasing medical demand and the severe depletion of wild toads, a number of counterfeit TVs appeared on the market, posing challenges to its quality control. In order to develop an efficient, feasible, and comprehensive approach to evaluate TV quality, a thorough analysis and comparison of chemical compounds among legal species BgC and BmS, as well as the main confusion species B. andrewsi Schmidt (BaS) and B. raddei Strauch (BrS), were conducted by ultra-performance liquid chromatography–quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), sodium dodecylsulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), and Nano LC-MS/MS analyses. We identified 126 compounds, including free or conjugated bufadienolides, indole alkaloids and amino acids, among the four Bufo species. The content of main bufadienolides, such as gamabufotalin, bufotalin, bufalin, cinobufagin, and resibufogenin, and the total protein contents varied widely among 28 batches of TV due to their origin species. The sum of the five bufadienolides within the BgC, BmS, BaS, and BrS samples were 8.15–15.93%, 2.45–4.14%, 11.15–13.50%, and 13.21–14.68%, respectively. The total protein content of BgC (6.9–24.4%) and BaS (19.1–20.6%) samples were higher than that of BmS (4.8–20.4%) and BrS (10.1–13.7%) samples. Additionally, a total of 1357 proteins were identified. There were differences between the protein compositions among the samples of the four Bufo species. The results indicated that BgC TV is of the highest quality; BaS and BrS TV could serve as alternative resources, whereas BmS TV performed poorly overall. This research provides evidence for developing approaches to evaluate TV quality and selecting the proper Bufo species as the origin source of TV listed in the Chinese pharmacopoeia.

Background Extensive literature revealed the relations of depression with behavioral inhibition system (BIS) and behavioral activation system (BAS) as vulnerability and with resilience separately. Besides, the concept of resilience is still broad and ambiguous. Thus, this study aimed to reveal the mediation of two aspects of resilience: trait and process, in the relations of BIS and BAS to depression among adolescents. Methods The data set used in this study was a cross-sectional survey among 965 adolescents. The obtained data from the self-reported questionnaires used in this study were as below: Depression Serf-Rating Scale for Children (DSRS-C), Behavioral Inhibition and Behavioral Activation System Scale (BIS/BASS), and Bidimensional Resilience Scale (BRS). Structural equation modeling (SEM) was conducted to verify the hypothesized relations among BIS/BAS, trait and behavior resilience, and depressive symptoms. Results The obtained indices of fit from SEM were good or sufficient (χ2 = 562.911, df = 96, p < 0.001; CFI = 0.925; NFI = 0.913; RMSEA = 0.073, 90% CI [0.067, 0.079]; SRMR = 0.066). And the modeling showed that both BIS/BAS directly and indirectly influenced to depression. The indirect effects of BIS/BAS were mediated only trait resilience except the indirect effect of BIS via behavioral resilience. Discussion Our results suggested that trait resilience played a significant mediation role in the relationships between BIS/BAS and depression. Trait but not process resilience could be considered suitable as an intervention target in line with decreasing depression.

Abstract (sommario):
The performance of GIS bus is directly linked with its heat radiation and temperature rise, and its long-time overheating may cause partial discharge and bus burn-up, posing a threat to the reliability of power system. This paper, based on heat transfer theory and taking into account convection and radiation heat transfer, builds the energy conservation equation and iteratively calculates the temperatures of the bus conductor and shell. The comparison of the calculation results with experimental data has confirmed the correctness of the calculation.

In this paper, we explore users’ intentions to use bike-sharing systems (BSS) compared to traditional competitive transport modes—private car, bus and walking. Fueled by the increasingly rampant growth of shared economy and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), shared mobility is gaining increasing traction. The numbers of shared mobility schemes are rapidly growing worldwide and are accompanied by changes in the traditional vehicle ownership model. In order to pinpoint the factors that strongly affect the willingness to use BSS, a stated preference survey among car and bus users as well as pedestrians was designed and conducted. Binary logit models of the choice between the currently preferred transportation modes and BSSs were developed, for short and long-duration trips, respectively. The results highlight a distinctive set of factors and patterns affecting the willingness to adopt bike-sharing: choice is most sensitive to travel time and cost of the competitive travel options. In general, users are more willing to make the switch to a BSS, especially for short trip durations, when their typical mode of transport becomes more expensive. Bike-sharing also seems to be a more attractive option for certain user socio-demographic groups per mode and trip duration (age, education level, employment status, household income). Trip characteristics such as trip purpose and frequency were also found to affect the willingness to choose BSS. In general, BSS seem to mainly attract bus users and pedestrians, while car users may use BSS more sparingly, mainly for commuting purposes.

This study is designed to evaluate the main factors affecting the bus service quality and customer satisfaction in bus services to travel from Phnom Penh to Poipet which are providing by private companies. It examines and explores the consumer expectation on service quality of bus transport through the SERVQUAL’s 5 dimensions such as tangible, reliability, assurance, empathy, and responsiveness. This research study is intended to collect data from participants to investigate the relationship among five components of service quality and customer satisfaction. The independent variable used throughout this study is overall satisfaction with bus transport service. Independent variables are specific service quality attributes which consist of service given, access, availability, time and environment. From the finding, on interesting finding was that in the question of customer’s reason to use the BTS of private companies in Cambodia, in which “suitable traveling” ranked last among other factor (location convenience, appreciate price, no choice, good service). Also, more than half of the respondents stated they maybe use the BTS again in the future, because there is no choice for them. Therefore, it can be clearly seen that this research was focusing at right point. Despite the fact that half of the respondents rated their satisfaction level of the “poor” level, and nearly half of the respondents rated their satisfaction level in “average” level. Nevertheless, not so many customers preferred to use the BTS because of its service convenience. Service quality is an important consideration in a successful service business. By the time, this research was conducted, the highly competitive market conditions in Cambodia’s bus transport service industry had forced service operators to deliver high-quality service to customers. In order to provide that, the service operators should first focus on understanding customers’ needs and their expectations before implementing the suitable service strategy to meet the customers’ needs.

Dans le champ de la psychologie sociale du travail et des organisations, c’est à l’articulation de deux thématiques de recherche - la santé au travail et le risque professionnel – que se situe notre recherche visant à analyser la question, encore peu documentée, des inégalités de santé au travail entre hommes et femmes.Notre thèse s’intéresse à une insertion professionnelle contre-stéréotypique pour les femmes – il s’agit en l’occurrence de conductrices de bus – pour examiner ; d’une part, si l’on peut établir des différences de santé psychique entre ces conductrices et leurs homologues masculins ; d’autre part, si ces différences peuvent être mises en lien avec des rapports genrés au risque professionnel, omniprésent dans ce métier.C’est sous l’angle d’une approche psychosociale des rapports entre domaines de vie, étayée sur le modèle d’une socialisation plurielle développé dans le Laboratoire LPS-DT, que cette analyse est menée : il s’agit d’élargir le regard au-delà de la seule sphère professionnelle des sujets (en prenant en compte les expériences de risque vécues en d’autres domaines de vie) pour comprendre aussi bien la construction de la santé au travail que la construction du rapport au risque professionnel et leurs interrelations.L’approche clinique retenue pour cette recherche mobilise plusieurs méthodologies : l’observation de l’activité en situation, à bord des bus ; une tâche d’association verbale autour des notions de risque et de risque professionnel ; la réalisation d’entretiens individuels (trois par sujet). Cette approche en profondeur est appliquée à un échantillon de six conducteurs/trices de bus salariés d’une même société de transport.L’analyse des données recueillies a montré que les différences identifiées entre hommes et femmes ne concernent pas tant le niveau de santé psychique au travail que les processus de construction de celle-ci.Nous sommes aussi parvenus à établir l’existence de différences dans le rapport au risque professionnel, caractérisé à partir d’articulations singulières entre plusieurs de ses dimensions (représentation du risque ; stratégies de faire face au risque ; conduites de prise de risque) : ainsi avons-nous repéré une "consonance masculine" et une "dissonance féminine" internes à ces rapports.L’étude des processus d’intersignification pour rendre compte de la construction de tels rapports genrés au risque professionnel a montré que l’extension du champ d’intersignification est, elle aussi, différente entre conductrices et conducteurs ; champ étendu pour les unes, champ « limité » aux expériences professionnelles pour la plupart des autres, pouvant avoir des incidences sur l’attitude à l’égard du risque et/ou sur la santé psychique au travail.Pour autant, au-delà de ces différences genrées, c’est aussi des positions singulières à l’égard du risque, présentées par tel ou tel sujet au sein de chaque sous-groupe d’appartenance - hommes/femmes – que les processus d’intersignification des expériences de risque en différents domaines de vie peuvent éclairer ; la personnalisation ouvrant ici des perspectives qui – sans nier les effets d’une acculturation genrée, permet de les dépasser.Les résultats de cette thèse invitent à reconsidérer la place du risque professionnel dans le métier de conducteur de bus, en vue du développement des pratiques de prévention. Au-delà d’une variable objective liée à la situation de travail, le risque doit aussi être considéré dans sa dimension subjective – le rapport au risque -, construit au niveau individuel comme nous l’avons montré, mais aussi au niveau du collectif de travail, où il pourrait faire l’objet d’un travail spécifique dans le cadre d'une démarche de prévention
In the field of the social and occupational psychology, it is at the crossroads of two research themes - health at work and occupational risk - that our research is situated, with the aim of analysing, the as yet little-documented, issue of inequalities in health at work between men and women.Our thesis looks at a counter-stereotypical occupational integration for women - in this case, female bus drivers - to examine, firstly, whether it is possible to establish differences in psychological health between these female bus drivers and their male counterparts, and secondly, whether these differences can be linked to gendered relationships to occupational risk, which is omnipresent in this profession.This analysis is being conducted from the angle of a psychosocial approach to relationships between spheres of life, based on the model of plural socialisation developed in the LPS-DT Laboratory: the aim is to look beyond the subjects' professional sphere alone (by taking into account experiences of risk in other spheres of life) in order to understand both the construction of health at work and the construction of the relationship to occupational risk and their interrelationships.The clinical approach adopted for this research mobilizes several methodologies: observation of the activity in situation, on board the buses; a task of verbal association around the notions of risk and occupational risk; individual interviews (three per subject). This in-depth approach was applied to a sample of six bus drivers employed by the same transport company.Analysis of the data collected showed that the differences identified between men and women do not so much concern the level of psychological health at work as the processes by which it is constructed.We were also able to establish the existence of differences in the relationship to occupational risk, characterised on the basis of singular articulations between several of its dimensions (representation of risk; coping strategies with risk; risk-taking behaviour): we also identified a 'male consonance' and a 'female dissonance' within these relationships.The study of intersignification processes to account for the construction of such gendered relationships to occupational risk showed that the extension of the field of intersignification also differs between female and male bus drivers; an extended field for women, a field 'limited' to professional experience for most of the men, which can have an impact on attitudes towards occupational risk and mental health at work.However, beyond these gendered differences, it is also the singular positions towards risk, presented by this or that subject within each sub-group - men/women - that the processes of intersignification of risk experiences in different areas of life can shed light on; personalisation opens up perspectives here which – without denying the effect of gendered acculturation – make it possible to go beyond them.The results of this thesis invite us to reconsider the place of occupational risk in the bus driver's job, with the aim to developing preventive practices. As well as being an objective variable linked to the work situation, risk must also be considered in its subjective dimension - the relationship to risk -, constructed at individual level, as we have shown, but also at the level of the work group, where it could be the subject of specific work as part of a prevention approach

Power system fault detection is conventionally achieved using current and potential measurements. An alternate and unconventional form of protective relaying is feasible using rigid bus conductor motion as the means of detection. The research presented focuses on the detection of power system faults using visual displacement of conductor spans. Substation rigid bus conductor motion is modeled using dual spring-mass systems for accurate representation of conductor response to electromagnetic forces generated during system faults. Bundled rigid conductors have advantages including detection independent of system load currents and improved ability to detect polyphase and single phase faults. The dynamic motion of the conductors during the fault is optically monitored with a laser detection system. Timeovercurrent characteristics are derived for the application of fault detection. The response time of the conductor detector system is slower than conventional relays due to the natural frequencies of the conductor span limiting the speed of its displacement. This response time makes the fault detection system using conductor displacement an ideal candidate for a backup relay in power system protection schemes.

Le phénomène de l'inaptitude touche tous les secteurs d'activités et particulièrement le secteur du transport. Les personnels roulants des sociétés de transport urbain, sont touchés de plus en plus tôt dans la carrière professionnelle. Par ailleurs, selon les études en médecine du travail les "causes psychologiques" sont de plus en plus élevées. Les travaux de recherche et les études effectués, développent les aspects juridiques (évolution des lois sur la gestion des inaptes), médicaux (critères de décision du médecin du travail), et psychotechnique (critères de sélection pour un recrutement) mais restent succincts sur la compréhension du phénomène de l'inaptitude examiné sous l'angle de l'adéquation entre les exigences du métier et les ressources humaines sollicitées. Cette recherche fait suite à une demande du pôle Ressources humaines de la RATP, concernant les chauffeurs de bus. Il s'agit de la population la plus exposée dans l'entreprise. Son objectif est de déterminer, dans un champs le plus large possible, avec un regard nouveau, les facteurs qui contribuent à favoriser l'inaptitude pour un but ultérieur de prévention. Nos apports consistent à définir l'inaptitude pour un but ultérieur de prévention. Nos apports consistent à définir l'inaptitude car elle change de sens selon la discipline (psychotechnique, médicale, ergonomique) et à élaborer une démarche qui interroge cinq disciplines qui traitent de l'homme ou du groupe au travail (ergonomie, psychososiologie, psychopathologie, socio-technique et logistique) pour apporter des éléments de compréhension de ce phénomène , en passant en revue l'aspect juridique et médical. La recherche s'appuie sur un recueil et un traitement de données multiples, dans quatre centres bus de la RATP (entretiens avec les machinistes et l'encadrement, observations sur lignes de bus dépuillement de dossiers. . . ). Elle met en évidence l'interaction entre l'naptitude, le travail, le sentiment d'insécurité, et les compétences. Notre contribution se situe au niveau des préocupations majeures de la gestion des ressources humianes. Il s'agit de l'adéquation entre les besoins du métier du machiniste et les ressources en termes de reconsidération de la logique des compétences, d'amélioration de l'organisation du travail, de révision du management, de réforme de la formation et l'évolution du recrutement.

Au cours de ce travail, nous nous sommes particulièrement intéressés à une classe de molécules électroactives précurseurs de matériaux moléculaires conducteurs à composant unique, les complexes bis(1,2-dithiolène) d'or et de nickel neutres. Nous avons tout d'abord développé une série originale de complexes radicalaires d'or [Au(R-thiazYdt)2] à partir de ligands dithiolène, riches en électron, les N-alkyl-1,3-thiazoline-2-chalcogénone-4,5-dithiolate (R-thiazYdt)2 avec Y = O, S, Se et R = Pr, iPr, cycloPr, NMe2. Le substituant R de l'hétérocycle joue un rôle majeur sur les propriétés des matériaux, résultant des interactions électroniques intermoléculaires entre ces complexes paramagnétiques. Les complexes de nickel diamagnétiques, [Ni(R-thiazSdt)2], des mêmes ligands dithiolène, présentent quant à eux une organisation à l'état solide très différente, conséquence de leur caractère à "couche fermée". Enfin, la réactivité originale des dérivés avec R = tBu conduit à des ligands dithiolène portés par un cycle aromatique 2-alkylthio-thiazole (RS-tzdt). Leurs complexes d'or neutres [Au(RS-tzdt)2] forment des empilements fortement dimérisés et semi-conducteurs
During this work, we particularly focused on one type of electroactive molecules, precursors of single component molecular conductors, the neutral gold and nickel bis(1,2-dithiolene) complexes. First we developed a series of radical gold complexes [Au(R-thiazYdt)2] derived from electron rich dithiolene ligands, the N-alkyl-1,3-thiazoline-2-chalcogenone-4,5-dithiolate (R-thiazYdt)2 with Y = O, S, Se and R = Pr, iPr, cycloPr, NMe2. The R substituent plays an important role on the properties of these materials resulting from the intermolecular electronic interactions between these paramagnetic complexes. Cette thèse est consacrée à l'étude expérimentale du transport dynamique cohérent dans des conducteurs mésoscopiques. Nous avons mis en oeuvre un dispositif expérimental permettant de mesurer pour la première fois l'admittance complexe de circuits quantiques à très basse température (30 mK) dans la gamme de fréquence 1-2 GHz avec une résolution en phase inférieure au degré. Nous avons alors répondu expérimentalement aux travaux théoriques de A. Prêtre, H. Thomas et M. Büttiker concernant le transport dynamique cohérent
à travers un circuit RC mésoscopique quantique. Nous avons confirmé que la résistance de relaxation de charge d'un tel circuit est constante et égale au demi quantum de résistance h/2e^2. Cette étude a été suivie de la mesure de l'admittance d'un contact ponctuel quantique (CPQ) où nous avons mis en évidence un effet inductif des barres de Hall reliant le CPQ aux
contacts ohmiques et mesuré une inductance cinétique quantifiée. Une dernière partie de ce travail de thèse concerne la caractérisation de la statistique de photons émis par un conducteur à l'équilibre thermique. Nous avons démontré qu'il est possible, à l'aide d'une expérience de type Hanbury-Brown & Twiss sur des photons GHz, d'étudier la statistique quantique
des photons émis par un conducteur quantique.

Onze bis (selenopyrannylidenes)-4 :4' ont ete synthetises par duplication de selenopyrannethiones-4 ou de perchlorates de selenopyrylium. Des analyses microscopiques, thermodifferentielles, structurales ont indique que certains perchlorates de selenopyrylium sont des smectiques a alors que les bis (selenopyrannylidenes)-4 : 4' correspondants ne semblent presenter que des phases de type cristal plastique. L'etude cristallographique et des potentiels d'ionisation et d'oxydo-reduction a montre leur interet comme donneurs d'electrons pi dans des conducteurs organiques. Des complexes a transfert de charge avec le tcnq et la ddq et des sels d'ions radicaux avec l'iode et divers contre-ions ont ete obtenus et etudies du point de vue de leurs proprietes structurales, electriques, optiques et magnetiques. Abstract (sommario):
Dans le premier volet de l'étude, des matériaux à base de cobalt ont été synthétisés par oxydation électrochimique à 90°C de Co(OH)2 dans différents électrolytes alcalins concentrés (KOH, NaOH, LiOH), afin de reproduire ex-situ l'effet du procédé de "formation à chaud" sur les phases au cobalt ajoutées à l'électrode positive des accumulateurs Ni-MH. Ces matériaux ont été caractérisés par diffraction des rayons X et des neutrons, RMN MAS du 7Li et par des mesures électriques. Une phase, de structure spinelle et de conductivité élevée, obtenue en présence de lithium a pu être isolée. Cette phase, proche de Co3O4, se distingue par des lacunes en cobalt, la présence simultanée de lithium et d'ions Co4+ au sein de sa structure. Par ailleurs, l'étude du mécanisme de formation de cette phase a permis d'établir que ce type de phase spinelle se formait par réaction entre une phase lamellaire CoOOH formée par oxydation électrochimique de Co(OH)2 et du cobalt passé en solution dans l'électrolyte. Dans le second volet, la possibilité d'utiliser la phase Na0,60CoO2 comme additif conducteur a été démontrée. De plus, il a été observé que cette phase permet de prévenir les pertes de capacité de l'électrode positive en stockage à bas potentiel. Des études in-situ ont aussi permis d'observer que la phase au cobalt active au sein de l'électrode après quelques cycles est un oxyhydroxyde de cobalt de type γ en lequel la phase Na0,60CoO2 se transforme progressivement.

Nous avons mis en évidence l'intérêt de greffer des groupements bis(4-méthoxyphényl)amines en positions 3, 6 et des aryles en position 9 du carbazole pour obtenir des matériaux performants. Finalement, cette structure type établie a permis de développer un concept innovant de synthèse de dérivés de carbazole ouvrant la voie à l'élaboration d'une large famille de verres moléculaires et permettant la préparation aisée de structures complexes performantes dans les DSSC solide. Nos meilleurs matériaux ont donné, en dispositifs sans optimisation, des performances comparables à celles du spiro-OMeTAD permettant d'entrevoir à terme la préparation de dispositifs à sensibilisateur pérovskite de rendements supérieurs à 15%
The aim ot this work has been to prepare new hole transporting molecular glasses based on carbazole moieties as an alternative to spiro-OMeTAD (standard material) in solid state dye sentitized solar cells (ssDSSC). We have synthesized several 3, 6, 9 substituted carbazole derivatives and have established their physical and chemical properties prior using them in photovoltaic devices. We have demonstrated the interest of grafting functional groups as bis(4-methoxyphenyl)amines on 3, 6 positions and aryl substitutes on the 9 position of carbazole to obtain efficient materials. Finally, this latter chemical structure has been used as a building block to develop an innovative concept of synthesis of carbazole based materials, smoothing the way to easy synthesis of a wide family of efficient molecular glasses for ssDSSC. Our best materials exhibit similar power conversion efficiency compare to the standard spiro-OMeTAD. According to these preliminary results, we expect reaching power conversion efficiencies over 15% with our carbazole based hole transporting materials associated with peroskite sensitizer

Nous présentons dans une première partie les complexes [M(R-thiazdt)2]n, où nous avons étudié l’effet de plusieurs changements structuraux (groupe R, nature du métal, chalcogène du métallacycle, chalcogène exocyclique), sur les propriétés redox et optiques, ainsi que sur l'organisation à l’etat solide et les interactions de recouvrement. De nouveaux conducteurs mono-composant et multi-composants sont obtenus par electrocristallisation. Les conducteurs mono-composant se comportent comme des semi-conducteurs à pression ambiante et deviennent métalliques sous pression. Les conducteurs multi-composants se comportent soit comme des isolants de Mott, soit comme des semi-métaux à pression ambiante. Dans la deuxième partie, nous décrivons la synthèse et l'analyse de ligands (R-tzdt) et de complexes [M(R-tzdt)2]n. Le principal avantage de cette famille est la facilité d’introduction de groupes fonctionnels pouvant servir à créer des interactions non-covalentes. À partir de cette stratégie, nous avons réussi à élaborer des matériaux présentant des liaisons hydrogène, halogène et chalcogène. Les propriétés en solution des complexes [M(R-tzdt)2]- se révèlent être proches de celles des complexes [M(R-thiazdt)2]-. Nous avons obtenu des conducteurs mono-composant avec le nickel (complexes à couche fermée) et l'or (complexes à couche ouverte), qui présentent tous un comportement semi-conducteur à pression ambiante
The aim of this work is the synthesis of novel molecular conductors based on metal bis(chalcogenolene) complexes having a thiazoline (R-thiazdt) or a thiazole (R-tzdt) core. We present in the first part [M(R-thiazdt)2]n complexes, where we studied the effect of several structural changes, (R group, metal atom, metallacycle chalcogen, exocyclic chalcogen), on the redox and optical properties, as well as on the solid state organization and overlap interactions. Here, we synthesized novel single-component and multi-component conductors by electrocrystallization. The single-component conductors act as semiconductors at ambient pressure and turn metallic under pressure. The multi-component conductors act as either Mott insulators or semimetals at ambient pressure. In the second part we describe the synthesis and analysis of (R-tzdt) ligands and [M(R-tzdt)2]n complexes. The main advantage of this family is the ease of introduction of functional groups that serve in providing non-covalent interactions. From this strategy, we successfully managed to elaborate materials showing hydrogen, halogen, and chalcogen bonding. The solution properties of [M(R-tzdt)¬2]- complexes were shown to be similar to those of [M(R-thiazdt)2]- ones. Single-component conductors were obtained for this family, based on nickel (closed shell), and gold (open shell) complexes. These complexes show a semiconducting behavior at ambient pressure

AbstractUnder the umbrella of SPACES (Science Partnerships for the Adaptation to Complex Earth System Processes in Southern Africa), several marine projects have been conducted to study the coastal upwelling area off southwestern Africa, the Benguela Upwelling System (BUS). The BUS is economically important for the bordering countries due to its large fish stocks. We present results from the projects GENUS and TRAFFIC, which focused on the biogeochemistry and biology of this marine area. The physical drivers, the nutrient distributions, and the different ecosystem components were studied on numerous expeditions using different methods. The important aspects of the ecosystem, such as key species and food web complexity were studied for a later evaluation of trophic transfer efficiency and to forecast possible changes in this highly productive marine area. This chapter provides a literature review and analyses of own data of the main biological trophic components in the Benguela Upwelling System gathered during two cruises in February/March 2019 and October 2021.

The two authors, Ngo, Bui and Dimache, examine the structure of the dark tourism industry, issues of governance, promotion and production of dark tourism and the involvement of tourists and tour guides in the historic sites in the DMZ of Quang Tri province. The analysis of construction and narration at former battlefields offers an in-depth understanding of dark tourism at former war sites in post-war Vietnam.

AbstractAn OS microkernel can be extended by implementing services upon it. A service could introduce an object that references a kernel object, and implement a group of functions that invokes the functions for manipulating the kernel object. We consider the scenario where the microkernel has been verified with machine-checkable proofs, while the services remain to be verified. Moreover, the verification of the microkernel is not performed with the verification of subsequent extension in mind. We address the problem of how to build sufficiently on the verification results for the microkernel, in achieving the verification of the services. Our methodology consists of enhancements to the verification framework for the microkernel, and the design of invariants for establishing the connection between the service-level objects and the kernel-level objects. Using the methodology, we have conducted a substantial formal verification of a group of services extending the inter-task communication functionalities of the preemptive microkernel $$\mu \!\!\text{ C }\!\!\text{/ }\!\!\!\text{ OS-II }$$ μ C / OS-II . Our verification uncovers dormant bugs and provides a level of correctness assurance for the services that is above what is achievable through extensive testing.

AbstractState-of-the-art remote inspection techniques (RIT), namely unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and magnetic crawlers are the resultants of a cascade of technological innovation. RIT usage has gathered momentum since classification societies turned to manuals alternatives during COVID-19 pandemic. Capable of gathering complex data through real-time visual imagery, it is claimed that RIT has the potential to deliver inspection services more safely and efficiently, thus enabling the transformative digitalization of the “ship survey” landscape. The paradigm shift has begun. In this scope, the multi-robot (ship-hull) survey platforms explored by classification societies and service suppliers have the potential to alter the manner in which massive structures are currently being inspected and maintained. This change will eventually improve shipping competitiveness, thus, paving the way for better and safer regulations and standards. Notwithstanding, the current framework derived from international common minimum standards, while noteworthy and creditable, continues to facilitate a number of thorny issues that could arise post-deployment of available techniques. This chapter highlights crucial elements that could altogether serve as a pathway forward against incidental issues acting as market growth barriers resulting in an unwanted impasse in this paradigm shift. This chapter derives from research conducted under the European Union (EU) Horizon 2020 funded project titled Autonomous Robotic Inspection and Maintenance on Ship Hulls (BUG-WRIGHT2) under grant agreement No. 871260.

AbstractThis chapter reflects the research conducted for the development of Augmented Reality (AR) interactive components for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) involving the development of an AR mobile app from the basic principles to the software prototype. The research lays the foundations for introducing AR into a new teaching and learning context based on the teaching of behavior according to the PBIS framework. PBIS is a preventative approach for decreasing problem behavior and improving the instruction of expected behaviours, organization of consequence systems, redesign of environmental settings, and use of evidence-based practices. The main aim of this chapter is to introduce the PBIS–AR mobile app and provide an overview of the development process integrating AR with the requirements of PBIS practice. After a short reference to PBIS, the concept underlying the development of the PBIS–AR app is presented. The concept is based on the definition of a new theoretical paradigm that integrates AR and behavioural learning creating an augmented space that we have called Augmented Reality Behavioral Learning Space (AR–BLS). The chapter further introduces the structure of the behavioural lessons, designed to instruct learners according to the school behavioral values, and presents the PBIS–AR app architecture as a component of the AR PBIS ecosystem. It illustrates the different components of this ecosystem together with the AR solutions adopted.

AbstractModern component-based architectural styles, e.g., microservices, enable developing the components independently from each other. However, this independence can result in problems when it comes to managing issues, such as bugs, as developer teams can freely choose their technology stacks, such as issue management systems (IMSs), e.g., Jira, GitHub, or Redmine. In the case of a microservice architecture, if an issue of a downstream microservice depends on an issue of an upstream microservice, this must be both identified and communicated, and the downstream service’s issues should link to its causing issue. However, agile project management today requires efficient communication, which is why more and more teams are communicating through comments in the issues themselves. Unfortunately, IMSs are not integrated with each other, thus, semantically linking these issues is not supported, and identifying such issue dependencies from different IMSs is time-consuming and requires manual searching in multiple IMS technologies. This results in many context switches and prevents developers from being focused and getting things done. Therefore, in this paper, we present a concept for seamlessly integrating different IMS technologies into each other and providing a better architectural context. The concept is based on augmenting the websites of issue management systems through a browser extension. We validate the approach with a prototypical implementation for the Chrome browser. For evaluation, we conducted expert interviews, which approved that the presented approach provides significant advantages for managing issues of agile microservice architectures.

In this case study, we attempt to begin bridging this gap, and focus on the important task of mapless robotic navigation — a classic robotics problem, in which a robot, usually controlled by a DRL agent, needs to efficiently and safely navigate through an unknown arena towards a target. We demonstrate how modern verification engines can be used for effective model selection, i.e., selecting the best available policy for the robot in question from a pool of candidate policies. Specifically, we use verification to detect and rule out policies that may demonstrate suboptimal behavior, such as collisions and infinite loops. We also apply verification to identify models with overly conservative behavior, thus allowing users to choose superior policies, which might be better at finding shorter paths to a target. To validate our work, we conducted extensive experiments on an actual robot, and confirmed that the suboptimal policies detected by our method were indeed flawed. We also demonstrate the superiority of our verification-driven approach over state-of-the-art, gradient attacks. Our work is the first to establish the usefulness of DNN verification in identifying and filtering out suboptimal DRL policies in real-world robots, and we believe that the methods presented here are applicable to a wide range of systems that incorporate deep-learning-based agents.

AbstractIn therapeutic plants, phytochemicals are found in abundance. A family of verbena known as vervain (verbenaceae) consists of over 100 genera and nearly 2600 species. Among the Verbenaceae family is Stachytarpheta, a green perennial herb. The species is being examined in this study for its phytochemical, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Stachytarpheta mutabilis methanol extracts were studied for their phytochemical screening, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anticancerous effects in the current study. Phytochemical study revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, steroids, tannins, carbohydrates, and saponins, among other phytoconstituents. One fungus, Aspergillus niger, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis, as well as four-gram (+) pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis, and two gram (-) pathogens, including Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi, and Klebsiella pneumoniae, were disc diffusion tested for antibacterial activity. The nitric oxide scavenging assay was used to test for anti-inflammatory efficacy in vitro. DPPH, ABTS, and total antioxidant tests were used to evaluate antioxidant activity. Analyses such as TLC, GC-MS, and were performed as per common procedure. A nitric oxide scavenging experiment was utilised to determine the anti-inflammatory properties of the drug in vitro. Tests for antioxidant activity were conducted using DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), ABTS (2,2’-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)), and total antioxidant tests. MTT (3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) analysis has been used to do anticancer screening. Extracts from Stachytarpheta mutabilis were found to include flavonoids, tannins and phenolic compounds as well as terpenoids and steroids in their phytochemical analysis. Squalene, octadecanal, and butan-1-one were found in the GC-MS study as were thirty other bioactive chemicals such as 4-isopropylcinnamic acid and octadecanoic acid. The methanolic fractions of plant extracts were shown to be effective against all bacteria. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant experiments performed in the lab revealed the compounds’ potent inhibition activity. Analysis of the GC-MS data revealed the existence of thirty distinct components. MTT assay on the extract revealed anticancer activity. The data shows that the methanolic extract has a significant properties. Stachytarpheta mutabilis has therapeutic value and other pharmaceutical qualities may be assessed as a result of these results, which support the traditional usage of folk medicine as well.

This study presents the conceptual design of an intersection bus-pedestrian collision warning system for bus drivers approaching an intersection. The basic parameters of the proposed design concept include the bus drivers’ perception-reaction time, the emergency deceleration rate of the bus, and pedestrian walking speed. A bus driving simulation was designed and conducted to analyze bus drivers’ responses to unexpected pedestrians crossing unsignalized intersections or signalized intersections during a green light interval for parameter analysis. The timings of auditory warnings and visual warnings, the locations for vehicle detectors and pedestrian detectors, and the locations for visual warning devices were also developed after analyzing the experimental results. The experimental results also highlight some important characteristics of bus driving behavior at intersections. Moreover, bus drivers really pay attention to the warning messages. Finally, this study develops and discusses some warning algorithms.

Numerical prediction and experimental verification of the temperature rise for a single-phase and a three-phase gas-insulated bus bar with current flow are investigated. Various heat generation rates possibly produced in the gas-insulated bus bar are calculated. To estimate the power loss caused by eddy current, the magnetic field analysis is carried out. The heat balance calculation solving the differential form of an energy balance equation with empirical relations is conducted by using the 5th order Runge-Kutta method. The various cases representing different geometries and current values are investigated by conducting the heat balance calculation. Three-dimensional numerical flow field analysis using finite volume method is performed for the different type of the bus bars. From the flow field analysis based on laminar natural convection, the temperature gradient in the current flowing direction caused by contact heat source is found for both single-phase and three-phase bus bars. In the experiments, temperature rises in each of conductor, contact part, and external tank are measured for a full-scale gas-insulated bus bar. The comparisons of the predicted values of the heat balance calculation and the numerical analyses to results of the experiments are made. From the comparisons, it is concluded that the temperature rise of a bus bar can be predicted quite well by performing laminar natural convection flow analyses.

In this paper, results from actual braking tests of a low-floor, two-axle transit bus are used to validate a dynamic model of the bus. The model, developed using the commercial multibody dynamic system simulation software ADAMS, is an 18 DOF full-bus model of a transit bus equipped with air suspension and pneumatic brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). An ABS algorithm was implemented in MATLAB/Simulink and linked to the ADAMS full-bus model using co-simulations. The validated full-bus model was then used to study lateral and roll stability of a transit bus during combined braking and cornering maneuvers on various road surface conditions. Numerical experiments were also conducted to study the effects of variations in total load on the dynamics of the bus during braking while cornering. The results indicate the danger of yaw-instability on slippery surfaces. Increasing the total load reduced the lateral acceleration of the bus with a less pronounced effect on the roll angle.

The purpose of this paper is to determine the critical factor in human error that contributes towards express bus accidents. Three main attributes in human error are discussed, which are physical, mental and experience. Thus, this research aims in finding the highest contributor in human error and the main concern in road safety regarding express bus. This research was conducted in which a user opinion and experience on factor causes express bus accidents is accounted with a total of 287 respondents which consist of bus driver, bus passengers or victims, firemen, police officer, express bus management companies and officers of road safety agency participated. The factor analysis method was utilised and the factors attributing to human error was extracted and interpreted. This research indicates that physical, mental and experience attributes of the express bus driver do contribute in human errors towards accidents. It was found that mental attributes of the bus driver has high effect on contributing to human error towards express bus accidents and driver’s sleepiness was the biggest concern in the express bus accident causes. Other attributes were discussed more in this paper and somehow provide an interesting insight of plausible cause of express bus accident.

The article aims to analyze the conditions of employment of the driver and the bus conductor, the urban passenger transport in the Metropolitan Region of Recife sector, aiming at the performance and quality of life of workers. The survey of the working conditions of these two professionals was conducted in 19 transport companies Recife by staff researcher at the Laboratory of Ergonomics and Universal Design ( LABERGODesign ) of the Federal University of Pernambuco and the Center for Health and Safety at Work ( NSHT ) University Pernambuco with support from Regional Labor Attorney of the 6th Region of the Ministry of Labour ( MPT ). For this survey was carried out in 19 bus companies, methodological procedures for measurement of risk - noise, vibration, heat, total dust O2 and CO; Applied checklists for workplace of the driver and the bus conductor; applied questionnaires to both driver and collector, also made ​​an assessment of postural discomfort using the tool Corlett diagram, in addition to photographing and filming in a real work situation of the driver and conductor. The results obtained from the research we identified the actual working conditions - physical, cognitive and organizational - of those two professionals and analyzed the jobs of the driver and conductor. The results show the consequences that the driver and conductor suffer to spend too much time sitting and with little break time, what are the areas of the body most affected by pain and discomfort in those two professions, including organizational issues they face, well as the physical and environmental risks that are exposed during a working day of 8 hours, 10 and 16 hours. The analysis of the research has relevance to the areas of occupational safety and ergonomics since the results may contribute to intervene in the security and quality of life of such professionals.

This study’s research team conducted a comprehensive statistical analysis to help transit agencies better understand factors that may have contributed to transit ridership loss and the extent of its impacts. Building off ICT-IDOT project R27-SP45, they developed a series of statistical models for the Chicago Transit Authority’s rail and bus systems. Data-driven analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impacts on CTA bus and rail ridership can help the Illinois Department of Transportation and Regional Transportation Authority, as well as other transit agencies, make policy decisions on planning resources and services during and after the pandemic. This study’s research team observed that most of the identified pandemic and socioeconomic factors, especially work occupancy rates, vaccination rates, discount programs, and crime rates, have affected over 80 to 90 percent of all CTA rail stations and bus lines. It is also observed that different population groups may react differently to policy decisions. The fare discount program, for example, may be most successful in attracting transit trips from the employed population in the health and retail industries. In particular, the temporal and spatial analyses show that work occupancy rates are crucial to answering most of the ridership loss at all of CTA’s bus lines and rail stations because workplace commute trips have driven a large proportion of CTA ridership. Therefore, transit ridership recovery may depend on individual industries’ remote work policies rather than city-wide quarantine executive orders. This could further suggest that transit agencies may need to collaborate closely with specific industry sectors to expedite the recovery of public transit ridership.

This research focused on analyzing the association between transit service reliability indicators and ridership. Further, the effect of road network, demographic, socioeconomic, and land use characteristics on transit service reliability was analyzed. The analysis was conducted at a bus stop level. Bus arrival/departure and ridership data from the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) was obtained. The road network, demographic, socioeconomic, and land use characteristics were captured within 0.25-mile and 0.50-mile buffers. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to understand the association between road network, demographic, socioeconomic, and land use characteristics and bus transit service reliability measures. The results show that bus transit service reliability has a substantial impact on ridership and is influenced by road network, demographic, socioeconomic, and land use characteristics within the bus stop vicinity. The findings help public transportation agencies to effectively utilize available resources, plan, and provide equitable services to all riders.

Condition being studied: Bile acids (BAs), an important component of bile, are also metabolites derived from cholesterol and promote intestinal absorption and transportation of dietary lipids . Studies have shown that bile acid receptor agonists can promote glP-1 secretion and improve glucose metabolism in preclinical mouse models of obesity and insulin resistance , which may become a new therapeutic target for Type 2 diabetes. However, no systematic review and meta-analysis has been found on the treatment of type 2 diabetes by intestinal microbiome - bile acid pathway. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of intestinal microbiome-bile acid pathway in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

This study’s researchers investigated transit vehicle maintenance processes, maintenance needs, and potential opportunities associated with building additional bus maintenance facilities (e.g., regional maintenance centers) in Illinois. They collected information via three main tasks. First, they conducted a literature review to document practices on preventive and corrective transit vehicle maintenance processes and explored similar or comparable projects among peer states and regions. Second, they conducted a series of interviews with Illinois local transit agencies, nonprofit organizations, Illinois administrators, and peer states to identify common challenges and opportunities with fleet maintenance as well as to capture stakeholders’ perspectives on state-sponsored maintenance service. Third, they conducted a preliminary data-driven model analysis to present a better understanding of Illinois’ needs for regional maintenance centers and to illustrate how the Illinois Department of Transportation may systematically plan regional maintenance center locations and capacities to best serve unmet demand under a range of available budget values. This study’s findings lay the foundation for more effective planning of a better network of regional maintenance centers to provide long-term benefits to IDOT and partner agencies by reducing vehicle down time, decreasing maintenance and towing costs, and allowing for greater tracking of maintenance techniques in coordination with similar agencies across Illinois.

Passenger data such as real-time origin-destination (OD) flows and waiting times are central to planning public transportation services and improving visitor experience. This project explored the use of Internet of Things (IoT) Technology to infer transit ridership and waiting time at bus stops. Specifically, this study explored the use of Raspberry Pi computers, which are small and inexpensive sets of hardware, to scan the Wi-Fi networks of passengers’ smartphones. The process was used to infer passenger counts and obtain information on passenger trajectories based on Global Positioning System (GPS) data. The research was conducted as a case study of the Streamline Bus System in Bozeman, Montana. To evaluate the reliability of the data collected with the Raspberry Pi computers, the study conducted technology-based estimation of ridership, OD flows, wait time, and travel time for a comparison with ground truth data (passenger surveys, manual data counts, and bus travel times). This study introduced the use of a wireless Wi-Fi scanning device for transit data collection, called a Smart Station. It combines an innovative set of hardware and software to create a non-intrusive and passive data collection mechanism. Through the field testing and comparison evaluation with ground truth data, the Smart Station produced accurate estimates of ridership, origin-destination characteristics, wait times, and travel times. Ridership data has traditionally been collected through a combination of manual surveys and Automatic Passenger Counter (APC) systems, which can be time-consuming and expensive, with limited capabilities to produce real-time data. The Smart Station shows promise as an accurate and cost-effective alternative. The advantages of using Smart Station over traditional data collection methods include the following: (1) Wireless, automated data collection and retrieval, (2) Real-time observation of passenger behavior, (3) Negligible maintenance after programming and installing the hardware, (4) Low costs of hardware, software, and installation, and (5) Simple and short programming and installation time. If further validated through additional research and development, the device could help transit systems facilitate data collection for route optimization, trip planning tools, and traveler information systems.
