Abstract (sommario):
The article provides justification and development of the methodology for modeling the recipe composition of health food products based on functional compositions. The basis of the modeling is the principle of food combinatorics, which consists in the justified quantitative selection of the main raw materials and food additives, which together ensure the formation of the necessary organoleptic and physicochemical properties, the given level of nutritional (food, biological) and energy value. Modeling of food products is the process of creating a product as a single integrated system consisting of elements that do not individually provide the specified properties. Conceptual approaches to the modeling of functional compositions and products based on them consist in optimizing the selection and ratio of ingredients, by which it is possible to obtain a composition that, in terms of quantitative content and qualitative composition, best meets the indicators of nutritional value and medical and biological requirements. The application of a mathematical apparatus based on the formalization of qualitative and quantitative indicators of the composition, nutritional value of individual ingredients and their combinations in the composition of model functional compositions allows, through simulation modeling, to determine the total content of an individual component. Taking into account the above-mentioned factors, the modeling results, as a rule, provide effective optimization of the product composition and parameters of individual operations of the technological process. Upon completion of the stage of multi-level experimental modeling, the functional compositions and technologies of the products are checked in laboratory and production conditions, after which their final adjustment is made. At the final stage, comprehensive studies of the main indicators of the quality of finished products, calculation of economic indicators, testing of technology in production conditions, preparation, coordination and approval of regulatory documents and organization of industrial implementation are carried out. The application of the design methodology of model functional compositions and food products allows to increase the degree of use of raw materials and expand the assortment of products with a given composition and properties for health purposes.

Music is an amalgam of logic and emotion, order and dissonance, along with many combinations of contradicting notions which allude to deterministic chaos. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that several research works have examined the utilization of dynamical systems for symbolic music composition. The main motivation of the paper at hand is the analysis of the tonal composition potentialities of several discrete dynamical systems, in comparison to genuine human compositions. Therefore, a set of human musical compositions is utilized to provide "compositional guidelines" to several dynamical systems, the parameters of which are properly adjusted through evolutionary computation. This procedure exposes the extent to which a system is capable of composing tonal sequences that resemble human composition. In parallel, a time series analysis on the genuine compositions is performed, which firstly provides an overview of their dynamical characteristics and secondly, allows a comparative analysis with the dynamics of the artificial compositions. The results expose the tonal composition capabilities of the examined iterative maps, providing specific references to the tonal characteristics that they can capture.

AbstractMineral chemistry and whole-rock compositional data are reported for two lavas of picritic basalt from the Palaeocene lava field of west-central Skye, Scotland. Whole-rock compositions for both flows plot on Thompson's (1982) 9 kbar cotectic for olivine + plagioclase + clinopyroxene + liquid. Both flows contain highly forsteritic olivine phenocrysts (c. Fo89), which enclose early-precipitated crystals of chrome-spinel (Al2O3: c. 25 wt.%; Cr2O3: c. 36 wt.%; FeO + Fe2O3: c. 20 wt.%; MgO: c. 15 wt.%). The olivine compositions indicate equilibrium with picritic basalt magma compositions, as represented by the whole-rock compositions of both lavas. A high-pressure origin for the chrome-spinels is suspected on the basis of their textural association and aluminous composition. Compositional comparisons between the whole-rock and mineral chemistry characteristics of both flows and a picritic basalt chill facies of the temporally- and spatially-associated Rum Igneous Complex suggests that similar parental magmas were involved.

The article summarizes the features of free compositions based on the experience of modern world architecture, which, together with other methods, bring the scope of possibilities of modern architectural composition beyond traditional principles. It is proposed to divide the architectural compositions according to orderliness into the following classes: ordered composition; free composition; a combination of ordered and free composition. The features of free compositions are considered: complexity, diversity, the absence of a simple and clear regularity of the arrangement of parts. A free composition is perceived as a complex, spatial, diverse collection of parts and surfaces. Peculiarities of perception and awareness of free compositions, which differ from perception and awareness of traditional ordered compositions, are analyzed. Examples of modern buildings created on the basis of free compositions are given. The main trend of modern architecture, where free compositions were introduced, is deconstructivism. However, architects working in other trends and creative approaches also used free compositions. The substantiation of this powerful phenomenon, realized in significant buildings, is based on the creativity of such modern architects as: Günter Behnisch, Frank Gehry, Toyo Ito, Rem Koolhaas, Daniel Libeskind, Eric Owen Moss, Thom Mayne, Wolf Dieter Prix, Zaha Hadid etc. An approximate generalization of methodical approaches to the creation of free compositions is proposed: free compositions based on a combination of various volumes; free compositions based on the combination of various fragments of surfaces; free compositions based on complex surfaces with various sections; physically variable free compositions (transformation of facade systems or parts of the building); illusory and variable free compositions (media facades installed on surfaces or external projection systems, holographic systems); free compositions based on the use of means of alternative materiality (transparent surfaces, mirror surfaces, light forms, forms from streams of water or steam, etc.).

A study inviting teachers at primary, secondary and tertiary level to introduce their students to composing activities through a resource album of minimalist projects noted that some teachers led their students to write “pastiche” compositions while others enabled their student composers to move beyond pastiche to an expansion of the given compositional concepts. Results examined compositions of music as imitating the style of an existing work, or whether teachers enabled their students to move beyond pastiche composition to an expansion of the given compositional concepts. This paper discusses the approaches, strategies, and roles adopted by both groups of teachers.

Compositional zero-shot learning (CZSL) aims to recognize unseen attribute-object compositions by learning from seen compositions. Composing the learned knowledge of seen primitives, i.e., attributes or objects, into novel compositions is critical for CZSL. In this work, we propose to explicitly retrieve knowledge of seen primitives for compositional zero-shot learning. We present a retrieval-augmented method, which augments standard multi-path classification methods with two retrieval modules. Specifically, we construct two databases storing the attribute and object representations of training images, respectively. For an input training/testing image, we use two retrieval modules to retrieve representations of training images with the same attribute and object, respectively. The primitive representations of the input image are augmented by using the retrieved representations, for composition recognition. By referencing semantically similar images, the proposed method is capable of recalling knowledge of seen primitives for compositional generalization. Experiments on three widely-used datasets show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This article aims to explore the sociomaterial relational activities within digital music composition education via the posthumanist concepts compositionism and assemblage. The study is an attempt at a nonlinear and non-reductivist understanding of educational activities where matter, nature, and culture shape performative practices. Engaging with Latour and Actor-Network Theory (ANT) and its onto-epistemological manifest as compositionism, the explorations also find impetus from posthumanist thinking, Barad’s intra-action, Haraway’s becoming-with, and post-qualitative inquiry. Four Year 9 classes in a Swedish compulsory school took part in the composing activity and the research intervention. During a four-week participation period, the music composition lessons were video-recorded. Sociomaterial transcriptions of the recorded lessons were transformed into assemblage compositions to explore the outcomes and becomings that emerged. What these sociomaterial compositions brings to the fore is the hybridity of digital music composition outcomes in learning activities.

Compositional reservoir modeling often requires a large number of instantaneous calculations. To reduce the dimension of the problem and the amount of computation, several components are usually grouped into pseudo-components. However, to model surface processes, it is important to have a detailed phase composition. Accurate fluid composition requires laboratory analysis, which is costly and time-consuming. This study addresses this issue by introducing an advanced delumping procedure aimed at providing an accurate fluid characterization. The primary objective was to develop a sophisticated delumping procedure capable of precisely describing detailed fluid compositions from calculations involving mixtures. Its goal is to reduce reliance on laboratory analysis, making the process more efficient. The results obtained from this research can improve the planning and modeling of surface facilities, developed under conditions of reservoir pressure above saturation pressure. To test the effectiveness of the proposed delumping and achieve the goals set, experiments were carried out on compositional simulation of oil production in the Caspian basin. The procedure uses reduction parameters calculated from simulation data and an analytical approach to characterize fluid compositions from the original data. Detailed fluid compositions obtained through laboratory PVT analysis were then compared with the results of simulation using PVTsim software and numerical delumping procedures. The findings showed a close agreement between the outcomes of detailed compositions obtained through the delumping procedure and of laboratory analysis, with an average deviation less than 5 %, confirming the effectiveness of delumping as an alternative method for obtaining an accurate fluid composition

The article is devoted to the problem of raw material base expanding and improving construction and technical properties of porous granular materials. The results of experimental studies of silicate compositions based on liquid glass and technogenic fillers containing burnable or gas-forming components are presented. Influence of molding mixtures’ composition on thermal expansion nature of granular compositions was established. Preference of a filler combined, containing glass cullet, silica clay and mineral additives was revealed. Multicomponent composition of a filler helps to intensify composition’s expansion. Electron microscopy studies of porous silicate granules have confirmed the advantages of combined fillers using. Effectiveness of sodium additive introduction to regulate technological properties of the raw material and the process of pores formation has been proven. Expediency of mechanical activation of a raw mixture to reduce the temperature of expansion and obtain granules with a bulk density of not more than 300 kg/m3 has been determined.

Summary Mineral compositional analysis of rocks is important for developing shale resources because the relationships between mineral compositions and petrophysical properties are critical for resource evaluation and completion optimization. Elementary properties are now routinely analyzed at wells in evaluating shale reservoirs. However, these properties have not been modeled in the three-dimensional (3D) reservoir. This is because an elemental composition has a physical constraint that is relatively easily adhered to in data analysis for wells but not in 3D modeling of reservoirs. A critical condition of elemental composition is that the sum of its components is equal to 100% to honor the mass-preservation principle. Traditional modeling methods do not satisfy this physical condition, sometimes producing nonphysical values, such as negative porosity values and fluid-saturation values greater than 100%. To date, only the compositional-modeling methods using a log-ratio transform can consistently satisfy this physical constraint. This paper presents modeling methods using additive log-ratio transform for modeling mineral compositions.

Bulk metallic glasses can exhibit novel material properties for engineering scale components, but the experimental discovery of new alloy compositions is time intensive and thwarts the rate of discovery. This study presents an experimental, high-throughput methodology to increase the speed of discovery for potential bulk metallic glass alloys. A well-documented system, Mg-Cu-Y, was used as a model system. A laser additive manufacturing technique, directed energy deposition, was used for the in situ alloying of elemental powders to synthesize discrete compositions in the ternary system. The laser processing technique can supply the necessary cooling rates of 103–104 Ks−1 for bulk metallic glass formation. The in situ alloying enables the rapid synthesis of compositional libraries with larger sample sizes and discrete compositions than are provided by combinatorial thin films. Approximately 1000 discrete compositions can be synthesized in a day. Surface smoothness, as discerned by optical reflectivity, can suggest glass-forming alloys. X-ray diffraction coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy can further refine amorphous alloy signatures and compositions. Transmission electron microscopy confirms amorphous samples. The tiered rate of amorphous alloy synthesis and characterization can survey a large compositional space and permits a glass-forming range to be identified within one week, making the process at least three orders of magnitude faster than other discrete composition techniques such as arc-melting or melt-spinning.

Abstract A persistent question in exoplanet demographics is whether exoplanetary systems form from similar compositional building blocks to our own. Polluted white dwarf stars offer a unique way to address this question, as they provide measurements of the bulk compositions of exoplanetary material. We present a statistical analysis of the rocks polluting oxygen-bearing white dwarfs and compare their compositions to rocks in the solar system. We find that the majority of the extrasolar rocks are consistent with the composition of typical chondrites. Measurement uncertainties prevent distinguishing between chondrites and bulk Earth but do permit detecting the differences between chondritic compositions and basaltic or continental crust. We find no evidence of crust among the polluted white dwarfs. We show that the chondritic nature of extrasolar rocks is also supported by the compositions of local stars. While galactic chemical evolution results in variations in the relative abundances of rock-forming elements spatially and temporally on galaxy-wide scales, the current sample of polluted white dwarfs are sufficiently young and close to Earth that they are not affected by this process. We conclude that exotic compositions are not required to explain the majority of observed rock types around polluted white dwarfs and that variations between exoplanetary compositions in the stellar neighborhood are generally not due to significant differences in the initial composition of protoplanetary disks. Nonetheless, there is evidence from stellar observations that planets formed in the first several billion years in the Galaxy have lower metal core fractions compared with Earth on average.

The heyday of the art of polychoral composition in European musical culture falls on the middle of the 17th century. The style originated in the churches of western and central Italy. It united a whole generation of young Polish composers educated in Venice and Rome. One of them is the famous Polish composer Mikolaj Zielenski. In musical style Zielenski follows the traditions of late Renaissance polyphony. His compositions mark the beginning of a long period of influence of Italian style on Polish music. Until today the question remains open, where the composer got acquainted with the Venetian technique of writing multi-choir music. The composer could master the polychoral style without leaving Poland. The polychoral style was then very widespread thanks to the activities of Italian musicians throughout Europe.All of Zielenski 's works known today were published in Venice in 1611. The first of these, Offertoria totius anni, includes multi-choir compositions similar to Giovanni Gabrieli's Sacrae symphoniae. The collection contains 55 compositions, the last of which is the Magnificat for three choirs. Mikolaj Zielenski 's Magnificat can be considered a classical composition for three choirs. In terms of stylistic and compositional features, it follows Italian traditions, in connection with which it is often compared with Giovanni Gabrieli's Magnificat.The history of polychoral style is one of the most interesting pages in the history of European musical culture. The Venetian style influenced the music of Central and Eastern Europe, including Russian musical culture.

Abstract An orbicular diorite from Fisher Lake, California, USA, contains multi-shelled, magmatic orbicules with branching and budding orthopyroxene crystals as well as feather and acicular plagioclase crystals that are oriented perpendicular to the growth horizon. Plagioclase and orthopyroxene show gradual, reverse compositional zoning along the long axes and normal zoning along the short axes. The reverse zoning varies from An87 to An93 and Mg68 to Mg74 over distances of 4 mm and 8 mm respectively. The close proximity of these two minerals makes it likely that only one mechanism is responsible for the reverse zoning. This zoning can be explained by using relevant temperature-composition diagrams and Gibbs free energy-composition plots. Under sudden and moderate undercoolings, which produce high growth but low nucleation rates, the difference in Gibbs free energy (ΔG) between the crystals and liquid is not initially maximized, i.e. initial compositions are not near-to-equilibrium. This results in crystal compositions that are closer to that of the bulk liquid than expected for crystallization under near-to-equilibrium conditions (i.e. very small ΔT). Over time, and under isothermal crystallization conditions, ΔG gradually increases to a maximum producing crystal compositions that also gradually attain near-to-equilibrium compositions. Subsequent to attaining these conditions, normal zoning occurs perpendicular to the crystal growth axes.

The large compositional variations in spinels from extremely depleted, megacrystalline harzburgite–dunites in the Udachnaya-East kimberlite pipe, Yakutia, apparently reflect multistage metasomatism. Changes in the redox regime are reflected in the compositions of different parts of mineral grains. From most reduced to most oxidized, spinel compositions divide into: (1) primary (rock-forming) Cr-spinel and spinel from the central parts of sulfide grains, (2) spinel from microcracks in olivine, (3) spinel in kelyphitic rim around garnet between garnet and olivine (Rim1 and Rim2 spinel), and (4) spinel in transformed kelyphitic rim around garnet between garnet and kimberlite (Rim3 spinel). P-T conditions for the vast majority of samples, calculated using the composition of primary Cr-spinel, fall in the diamond stability field. A change in the composition of spinels of different generations occurs along the sides of the classical triangle of spinel compositions Al–Сr–Fe3+: (1) Rim2 to Rim1 spinel—Al–Cr trend, (2) primary Cr-spinel to magnetite rim in the edge—Cr–Fe3+ (kimberlite) trend, (3) replacing Rim1 to Rim3—Al–Fe3+ trend.

The results of experimental studies on the initiation of compositions containing energy-saturated materials by high-current electron beams and electrodischarge plasma are presented. Experimental studies simulate the effects on energy-saturated materials of electromagnetic fields of natural and man-made origin. The threshold voltage of the electrical breakdown of the compositions during a high-voltage electric discharge was determined and the possibility of initiation of the compositions by high-current electron beams of nanosecond duration using a pulsed high-current electron accelerator GKVI-300 was studied. Four compositions were selected as objects of study: a composition based on potassium picrate, a composition containing ammonium perchlorate, a composition based on lead minium with zirconium and colloxylin additives, and ballistite composition SBK-3. It is shown in the work that the initiation of compositions by a high-current electron beam is potentially possible only for compositions with low ignition temperatures, ignition of compositions with high ignition temperatures is possible due to the introduction of a powdery nanoscale additive, particles of which have specific heat less than particles of an energy-saturated material, and ignition of ammonium perchlorate is possible only if the particles of the additive have lower thermal conductivity than the particles of perchlorate ammonium.

We have studied the weight loss during sintering and the resulting phase constituents and dielectric properties of a series of compositions in the lead-rich region of the PbO:MgO:Nb2O5 phase diagram near the stoichiometric composition of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PMN). While a ternary system of PbTiO3–Pb(CO1/3Nb2/3)O3–PMN was used, only the PMN component was varied in composition. The observed weight loss was ascribed to PbO evaporation from the nonstoichiometric PMN component. It was found that the sintered PMN compositions at about 1000°C correspond to the stoichiometric composition with varying amounts of excess MgO. These sintered compositions can be calculated by taking the Nb ion as the controlling cation in forming the PMN unit cell, from which the excess MgO can be determined. The excess PbO in the starting compositions, above the amount needed to form the sintered compositions of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 plus excess MgO, serves as a densification aid during the sintering process. Subsequently, the excess PbO is lost through evaporation. The peak dielectric constant of these compositions varies between 12000 and 18500, with the highest value attained in the sintered composition corresponding to stoichiometric PMN plus 0.229 mole of excess MgO. The optimum processing conditions for this composition are also identified.

CrowdBand, a sound composition system, demonstrates how a crowd can create works that meet requested criteria and fulfill the aesthetic character given by keyword description and examples. CrowdBand allows flexibility in music composition in terms of duration of the music, completion time and cost of music composition by giving the requestor two modes - thrifty and normal. CrowdBand’s workflow divides the composition task into three sections: requesting fundamental sounds, assembling sounds into compositions, and evaluating the results. Based on the crowd workers’ responses, we conclude that crowdsourced workers who are non-musicians can design sound and create novel sound compositions through CrowdBand. We also conclude that CrowdBand gives the musically-untrained crowd workers the ability to use common compositional techniques, such as sound layering, vertical stacking of sounds to create harmonic effects, related melodic lines (contrapuntal techniques), and transitions between aesthetic notions, or sound themes. Finally, we show improved, faster results with successive simplification and examples.

A circumstellar disk that surrounds a star is composed of gas, dust, and rocky objects that are in orbit around it. Around infant stars, this disk can act as a source of material that can be used to form planetesimals, which can then accrete more material and form into planets. Studying the mineral composition of these disks can provide insight into the processes that created our solar system. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the mineral composition of these disks by using a newly created python package, Min-CaLM. This package determines the relative mineral abundance within a disk by using a linear regression technique called non-negative least square minimization. The circumstellar disks that are capable of undergoing compositional analysis must have a spectrum with both a detectable mid-infrared excess and prominent silicate features. From our sample, there are only eight debris disks that qualify to be candidates for the Min-CaLM program. The mineral compositions calculated by Min-CaLM are then compared to the Tholen asteroid classification scheme. HD 23514, HD 105234, HD 15407A, BD+20 307, HD 69830, and HD 172555 are found to have a compositions similar to that expected for C-type asteroids, TYC 9410-532-1 resembles the composition of S-type asteroids, and HD 100546 resembles D-type asteroids. Min-CaLM also calculates the mineral compositions of the comets Tempel 1 and Hale-Bopp, and they are used as a comparison between the material in our early solar system and the debris disk compositions. Oil was extracted from the seeds of pomegranate “Qayyum” variety in a Soxhlet extractor with extraction gasoline. By enriching the separated oil with sunflower and cottonseed oils, 6 different oil compositions were prepared in the proportions of 85:15, 90:10 and 95:5. The fatty acid composition of the prepared oil compositions was studied by the GC method. GC analysis of the composition of the prepared oil compositions showed that only punicic acid was detected in the conjugated α-linolenic acids. As the amount of pomegranate oil increases, the content of punicic acid in oil compositions increases. The amount of linoleic acid is the highest in the 95:5 composition of the oil, and decreases as the amount of pomegranate oil increases. Conjugated α-linolenic acids are not detected in cottonseed oil, and punicic acid is detected in compositions prepared with the addition of pomegranate oil, and its amount increases as the amount of pomegranate oil increases. Prepared oil compositions can be used in the preparation of various medicinal products and biologically active food additives depending on the acid content.

Electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) is promising for accurately determining elemental components in micro-areas of individual phytolith particles, interpreting compositional features and formation mechanisms of phytoliths in plants, identifying archeological and sedimental phytolith. However, the EPMA method of analyzing mounted slide phytoliths has not well been defined. In this study, we attempted different EPMA methods to determine the elemental compositions of phytoliths in mounted slides. Direct analysis of carbon (DAC) with other elements in phytolith could obtain abnormally high total values and carbon values. The method of carbon excluded in measuring elements (non-carbon analysis (NCA)) was feasible to obtain elemental compositions in phytolith. The NCA method was conducive to obtain the factual elemental compositions of an individual phytolith (morphotype) when the carbon content of phytolith was relatively low. The EPMA results of phytoliths from 20 bamboo species (three genera) showed that phytolith was dominantly composed of SiO2 but also included low contents of diverse other elements. The EPMA of phytoliths can provide the elemental composition of micro-areas of an individual phytolith particle. The elemental compositions of phytolith varied with their morphotypes, the genera and ecotype of bamboos. The EPMA of elemental compositions in phytoliths is a potential tool to study the formation mechanism of phytoliths, plant taxonomical identification, archaeological and paleoenvironmental reconstruction.

Summary The thermodynamic behavior of multicomponent multiphase systems is highly nonlinear, and the coupling to the flow equations is quite complex; as a result, equation-of-state (EOS) -based simulations can be computationally prohibitive. We describe a new K-value method that captures the compositional dependence of the phase behavior. Specifically, we propose a method for selecting compositions used in the tabulation of K-values and define an operator that interpolates the K-values as a function of pressure and composition. The method employs the minimal critical pressure (MCP) to detect supercritical compositions, which allows for effective modeling of multicontact miscible displacements. We compare our K-value approach with standard EOS compositional simulation for several isothermal problems, and we demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method.

This work is aimed at developing an intersubjective paradigm and an active role of the subject in reduction conceptualization. For this purpose, the general oracular scheme of conceptualization is concretized by the complementarity of composition and decomposition as explications of synthesis and analysis of entities. Pragmatically conditioned enrichment of this complementarity is carried out with the involvement of compositional programming and nominal models of data, functions, and compositions. The oracular scheme of reduction is considered, the meaning of which is that it, based on existing compositions, naturally implements the paradigm of “divide and conquer” in understanding the active role of the subject in conceptualization, supporting the real complementarity of decomposition and compositional methods of conceptualization. Representative examples of reduction conceptualization are shown, which substantiate the technology of solving programming problems.

Abstractstatics is a non-standard sound synthesis program that uses functional iteration to both generate sound events and organise them temporally. This paper gives a brief history on the use of functional iteration in music composition and then describes how it is implemented in statics. Also discussed is the conception of program design as compositional process. Since statics was designed by a composer with musical goals in mind, the program is itself is a collection of compositional decisions. Furthermore, the unique timbres and structures created by statics are a direct result of these decisions. Accordingly, I discuss my compositional process in two stages: those choices that are embedded into the program (general decisions) and those choices that occurred post-design (specific decisions). Using as examples the three individual compositions created with statics (congruent, convergence and cyclian), I delineate the effects of both types of decision on the compositional process and then describe how these three compositions embody different characteristics of my implementation of functional iteration.

Manganese-alloyed Ru2Si3-based alloys with various alloy compositions have been prepared and the phase relationships of these alloys have been investigated as a function of the Mn concentration using X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. A series of Ru1-xMnxSiy chimney-ladder phases is confirmed to be formed over a wide compositional range (x ≥0.12). These chimney-ladder phases are considered to be formed to stabilize the HT-Ru2Si3 chimney-ladder phase through the substitution of Ru with Mn. The compositions of the chimney-ladder phases are, however, significantly deviated from the idealized composition satisfying the valence electron concentration rule: VEC=14.

Introduction. The processes of structure formation of cement compositions and the development of effective technologies of building materials is an urgent task for building material science. The use of large-scale man-made product of pulp and paper enterprises – osprey as a fibrous filler in organic and mineral compositions is the successful decision of the problem. The paper analyzes the ways of using osprey in the building materials’ production. The aim of the research is to study the osprey influence on the processes of structure formation of cement stone by quantitative x-ray phase analysis.Materials and methods. The organic and mineral compositions were obtained on the basis of portland cement and osprey. The authors studied the compositions’ phase of osprey, portland cement and the processes of cement stone structure formation in organ and mineral compositions by quantitative x-ray phase analysis.Results. The authors determined the compositions’ phase of mineral impurities of osprey, cellulose, cement, cement stone, organic and mineral compositions and two compositions containing 25 and 75% by weight.Discussion and conclusions. The osprey application as a filler in the organic and mineral composition causes inhibition of processes of cement hydration. The presence of osprey in the hardening organic and mineral composition leads to a change in the composition and structure of the cement stone in comparison with the phase composition of the cement stone without additives. The result of these changes is a significant increase in the amount of calcite, waterite and a significant decrease in the amount of portland. The authors establish that the effective joint work of the reinforcing component of the osprey with the cement matrix is possible with a limited amount of osprey in organic and mineral compositions.

Artists have long explored the way in which we see the world, and they have developed their own tools to portray their vision. The present study investigated whether the compositional information in paintings, an artistic device invented by artists, is utilized when people view paintings. In Experiment 1, we categorized paintings depending on their compositions through experts’ ratings. Using the stimuli from Experiment 1, Experiment 2 tested if the compositional information interferes with a target detection task. We found that the false alarms increased when the targets and distracters had the same composition compared to when they were different. Finally, Experiments 3A and 3B examined whether composition information influences the perceptual similarity of paintings. Through a multi-dimensional scaling analysis, we first showed that paintings with the same composition were proximately located in the mental space (Experiment 3A). Using this distance from the MDS analysis, we found that performance on the target detection task decreased as this distance became close (Experiment 3B). These results suggest that people make use of compositions in paintings, thus providing a possible link between artworks and the human visual system.

Monitoring urban compositions spatially and temporally is a crucial issue for urban planning and management. Nowadays, remote sensing techniques have been widely applied for urban compositions extraction. Compared with other remote sensing techniques, spectral indices have significant advantages due to their parameter-free and easy implementation. However, existing indices cannot extract different urban compositions well, and some of them can only extract one composition with less attention to other urban compositions. In this study, based on the water- impervious surface-pervious surface (W-I-P) model, a novel urban composition index (UCI) was developed by analyzing the robust features from the global spectral samples. Additionally, a semi-empirical threshold of UCI was proposed to extract different urban compositions (water, impervious surface area and pervious surface area). Four cities of China were selected as study areas, Landsat-8 images and Google Earth images were used for quantitative analysis. Correlation analysis, separability analysis, and accuracy assessment were conducted among UCI and five other existed indices (single and multiple composition indices) at the urban and global scales. Results indicated that UCI had a stronger correlation with the ISA proportion and a higher separability between each urban composition. UCI also achieved the highest overall accuracy and Kappa coefficient in urban compositions extraction. The suggested semi-empirical threshold was also testified to be reliable and can be a reference for practical application. There is convincing evidence that UCI is a simple, efficient, and reliable index for urban compositions extraction.

To develop filled polymer compositions based on polypropylene with different contents of calcite concentrate as a filler and the newest polyolefin elastomer as a modifier; to define the influence of the compositions on their rheological and physico-mechanical properties for production injection molded goods. The values of viscosity, melt flow index, tensile strength, elongation, and impact strength and frost resistance of the compositions depending on their composition are determined by standard methods. The influence of calcite concentrate as a filler and polyolefin elastomer as a modifier on the rheological and mechanical properties of compositions has been determined. With an increase in the amount of filler the physical and mechanical properties of the filled compositions are reduce that is offset by introducing the newest polyolefin elastomer as a modifier in amount of 5 wt. %. Addition of 5 wt. % of polyolefin elastomer in the filled composition gives them frost resistance, wherein the impact strength is higher than for compositions without the modifier even after freezing for 30 days at -18°С. It has been determined that adding of the filler does not increase the viscosity of the compositions, which contradicts the traditional behavior of filled systems. The addition of 5 wt. % of polyolefin elastomer to the filled compositions with calcite concentrate up to 20 wt.% does not change the tensile strength of the compositions which is 24 MPa, but increases elongation by 2 times, impact strength by an average of 8,5 % and frost resistance after freezing compositions at -18 °C for 30 days by an average of 12,6 %. The research results of rheological and physic-mechanical properties allow choosing the rational composition to achieve the desired characteristics of the polymer material for production goods by injection molding. Melt flow index of the compositions increases with increasing amount of filler to 50 wt. %. which does not increase the production costs of the injection molding process in comparison with unfilled compositions.

AbstractThe composite Eskdalemuir dyke was formed by the intrusion of rhyolitic magma into partly crystallized basaltic magma, the proportion of the silicic component increasing towards the dyke centre. The less silicic parts were effectively supercooled and crystallization was halted when the residual melt quenched to rhyolitic glass which constitutes up to 50% of the dyke's centre. Pyroxene compositions in the mixed magma rocks include augite, pigeonite and orthopyroxene of very variable composition. Individual crystals in the matrix as small as 200 μm can contain compositions occupying a considerable part of the Di-Hd-En-Fs quadrilateral. Pyroxene crystallization took place under extreme disequilibrium conditions, as shown by highly variable zonation patterns; apparently opposite zoning trends can occur in adjacent grains. Small-scale variations in melt composition were probably the dominant control over the compositional and textural complexity in the pyroxenes.

Similarly, the density and the dielectric constant showed linear variation up to [Formula: see text] and a large increase above this composition, showing maximum values in the compositional range [Formula: see text], corresponding to the MPB region. Varicose veins are called one of the diseases of the 21st century, caused by a sedentary lifestyle and genetics. The purpose of this study was the development of ointment compositions containing the micronized flavonoid fraction and the study of the degree of release of the micronized fraction by the flavonoid from the ointment compositions with penetrating components. With the obtained ointment compositions, a complex of biopharmaceutical studies in vitro was carried out: release from ointment compositions by diffusion into a gelatin gel and dialysis through a semipermeable membrane, while the quality indicators of the ointment compositions were established. The conducted in vitro biopharmaceutical studies helped to determine the final composition of the ointment in relation to the auxiliary composition: active ingredient — 2%, PEG 1500:PEG 400 (7:3), propylene glycol — 1%.

When developing composite binders of a certain functional purpose, it is necessary to rationally select raw materials, taking into account their chemical, mineral and granulometric composition. The use of mechanical activation with the choice of the most suitable grinding unit affects the creation of binder compositions, the functional additives used have a significant impact on the properties of composite binders. The article presents the results of obtaining binder compositions of optimal composition based on Portland cement and broken ceramic bricks. Experimental studies of the granulometric composition have been carried out, the results of tests of binder compositions of the compositions: cement – broken ceramic bricks prepared in a mill are given. Compositions of binder compositions with a wide range of use of ceramic cullet waste – brick production waste have been developed and installed. Using the method of electron microscopy, the features of the microstructure of chips of cement stones synthesized on the basis of Portland cement and various content of mineral filler – ceramic brick slaughter waste, mechanically activated in a vibration mill, were studied. It is noted that the open pores of cement stone chips, synthesized binders, are densely overgrown with various neoplasms of various sizes. It has been established that the microstructure of hydrated binder compositions is marked by a dense structure due to the use of powdered brick cullet, which compact the structure of the composite, and it is also noted that grains of calcium hydrosilicates grow on the mineral particles of the filler, compacting the overall structure of the composite.

A detailed compositional analysis of high-critical-current-density (Jc) (55 and 65 kA/cm2at 77 K) (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3Oy(Bi-2223) tapes was undertaken by energy dispersive spectroscopy in the transmission electron microscope. Structural features were coupled with characteristic compositions of the Bi-2223 phase. The average of all compositional measurements of the Bi-2223 phase was determined to be Bi1.88Pb0.23Sr1.96Ca1.95Cu2.98Oy. However, spatial variations in the Bi-2223 composition and differing phase equilibria were found throughout the filament structure. In particular, a considerable range of Bi-2223 compositions can be found within a single tape, and the lead content of the Bi-2223 phase is significantly depressed in the vicinity of lead-rich phases. The depletion of lead in the Bi-2223 phase around the 3221 phases may be a current-limiting microstructure in these tapes.

The paper investigates the relationship between the tribological properties/compositions of new aluminum antifriction alloys and compositions of the secondary structures formed on their friction surfaces. Eight alloys with various compositions have been analyzed. The elemental compositions of the secondary structures on their friction surfaces have been determined. The relationship between the alloy secondary structure compositions with wear rate has been found. An attempt has been made to determine the secondary structure composition patterns based on the non-equilibrium thermodynamics and self-organization theory.

For over a thousand years, frontispieces for religious scriptures produced in China were based on two basic compositions: the diagonal composition and the symmetrical composition. The two compositions enjoyed persistent currency by offering great flexibility for religious sects to fill in the compositions with their own patron gods and saints. Meanwhile they served different functions: while the diagonal composition illustrates the narrative of the scripture, the symmetrical composition focuses on the main deity and its pantheon, and engages viewer-worshippers in the assembly depicted. Daoism appropriated the two basic compositions and developed its own tradition of scripture frontispieces. This essay analyzes frontispieces for the Scripture of the Jade Emperor as a case study. By portraying deities of different natures in the frontispieces, Daoists specified the means whereby the main deity bestowed divine assistance upon the commissioners of the scripture, and distinguished Daoist scripture frontispieces from their Buddhist counterparts by placing extra emphasis on the frontispieces’ efficacy.

Deciding on Web service equivalence in process-aware service compositions is a crucial challenge throughout the composition life cycle. However, restricting such decisions to (activity) label equivalence is not sufficient for many practical applications: if two activities and Web services respectively have equivalent labels, does this necessarily mean they are equivalent as well? In many scenarios (e.g., evolution of a composition schema or mining of completed composition instances), other factors also play an important role. Examples include context information (e.g., input and output messages) and information on the position of Web services within compositions. In this paper, the authors introduce the whole composition life cycle and discuss specific requirements for Web service equivalence along its different phases. The authors define adequate equivalence notions for the design, execution, analysis, and evolution of service compositions. This paper focuses on attribute and position equivalence and contributes a new understanding and treatment of equivalence notions in service compositions.

The methods for ensuring long-term and safe operation of marine equipment due to comprehensive repair technologies that use epoxy oligomers and new compositions based on them are developed. The influence of temperature and UltraSonic Treatment (UST) on the rheological properties of the pure epoxy matrix and compositions based on it is explored. The compositions have different content of nanodispersed soot carbon black of brand PowCarbon 2419G (particle size of 24 ± 2 nm). It is established that when nanoparticle soot (q = 0.10…15.00 pts wt) is introduced into the composition of the epoxy matrix treated with ultrasound, the viscosity of the composition increases gradually. Based on the results obtained, temperature ranges are recommended, in which the viscosity of the studied compositions reaches optimal technological parameters for the effective impregnation of threads, tows and various fabrics, and which provide for the effective application of the composition to the working surfaces of marine equipment. Technical recommendations are given for applying the developed black-filled epoxy compositions to the working surfaces of parts, ship mechanisms and pipeline systems of marine vessels.

The automatic service composition is discussed in the article. The method is proposed for building the service composition based on the processing of statistical data on individual applying services (tasks) by users. The method is based on linking tasks to each other, determining data dependencies, parameters of services whose values are rigidly set by the composition of services, and parameters whose values can be changed by the user are highlighted. Service compositions are built in the form of a directed graph of DAG. The methods have been developed for reducing the set of obtained service compositions, which allow us to highlight useful ones and rank them by degree of use. In particular, equivalent service compositions based on isomorphism of DAG graphs are determined, trivial ones are discarded, and only compositions that lead to the published result are left behind.

Recently, we have introduced and studied all possible four-point compositions (one degree of freedom) and five-point compositions (two degrees of freedom) of ternary relations in analogy with the usual composition of binary relations. In this paper, we introduce and study new types of compositions of ternary relations inspired by the compositions of binary relations introduced by Bandler and Kohout (BK-compositions, for short). Moreover, we pay particular attention to the link between BK-compositions and the traces of binary relations and use it as source of inspiration to introduce traces of ternary relations. Moreover, we show that these new notions of BK-compositions and traces are useful tools to solve some relational equations in an unknown ternary relation.

Amorphous thin films of different Al–Fe compositions were produced by plasma/vapor quenching during pulsed laser deposition. The chosen compositions Al72Fe28, Al40Fe60, and Al18Fe82 correspond to Al5Fe2 and B2-ordered AlFe intermetallic compounds and α–Fe solid solution, respectively. The films contained fine clusters that increased with iron content. The sequences of phase evolution observed in the heating stage transmission electron microscopy studies of the pulsed laser ablation deposited films of Al72Fe28, Al40Fe60, and Al18Fe82 compositions showed evidence of composition partitioning during crystallization for films of all three compositions. This composition partitioning, in turn, resulted in the evolution of phases of compositions richer in Fe, as well as richer in Al, compared to the overall film composition in each case. The evidence of Fe-rich phases was the B2 phase in Al72Fe28 film, the L12- and DO3-ordered phases in Al40Fe60 film, and the hexagonal ε–Fe in the case of the Al18Fe82 film. On the other hand, the Al-rich phases were Al13Fe4 for both Al72Fe28 and Al40Fe60 films and DO3 and Al5Fe2 phases in the case of Al18Fe82 film. We believe that this tendency of composition partitioning during crystallization from amorphous phase is a consequence of the tendency of clustering of the Fe atoms in the amorphous phase during nucleation. The body-centered cubic phase has a nucleation advantage over other metastable phases for all three compositions. The amorphization of Al18Fe82 composition and the evolution of L12 and ε–Fe phases in the Al–Fe system were new observations of this work.

We also extend the definition of a Durfee square (studied in integer partitions) to be the largest square which lies on the base of the bargraph representation of a composition (i.e., is ‘grounded’). Via generating functions and asymptotic analysis, we consider compositions of n whose Durfee squares are of size less than s × s. This is followed by a section on the total and average number of grounded s × s squares. We then count the number of Durfee squares in compositions of n.

The results of studies on the preparation and study of the properties of composite materials based on compositions of arylalicyclic copolyimide and alkylated montmorillonite (AMM) modified with polyethylene glycol to increase the affinity of a natural mineral to polymer matrix are presented in the work. It was found that an increase in the compatibility of composition’s components is due to the addition to copolyimide solution of previously prepared mixture of alkylated montmorillonite in 5 % and 2 % polyethylene glycol solution in methylpyrrolidone. Based on IR-spectroscopy of the obtained mixtures and literature data, an assumption about specified composition mechanism was made. Compounds of copolyimide compositions with modified montmorillonite were determined. Found that the total content of alkylated montmorillonite and polyethylene glycol should not exceed 12.5 wt. % in the case of copolyimide – 1 wt. % and in case of copolyimide-2 – 4 wt. %. The optimal conditions for obtaining on their basis transparent composite films with a smooth surface by a mechanical mixing method are found. Their basic thermodestructive and mechanical properties were determined. It was shown that the materials have high thermodestructive and strength properties: the temperature of decomposition onset is 409-421°C, the tensile strength is in the range of 140-168 MPa. The best thermodestructive properties and tensile strength are possessed by films obtained from ternary mixtures of the initial composition 87.5 SPI1 + 7 PEG + 5.5 AMM and 97 SPI2 + 2 PEG + 1 AMM, while the elasticity of the material remained at an acceptable level.

The stained glass art of temples and chapels of the Renaissance period occupies a special place in the fine arts of Lviv. Special attention is drawn to the stained glass windows of Lviv's sacred buildings, which impress with their aesthetics, composition, colours, and artistic expressiveness. In the process of studying stained glass windows in the decoration of Renaissance churches and chapels in Lviv, the manufacturing technology, compositional solution, their colour scheme were analyzed and the main features of their artistic and figurative expression were revealed. Renaissance stained glass windows have not survived, all stained glass windows of Lviv temple buildings were made in the XIX-early XX centuries. The stained glass compositions of the Church of the Assumption are marked by a simple and at the same time refined composition and picturesque colours in light tones in contrast to the Gothic patterns. Ornamental stained glass compositions were used in the interiors of the chapels. Ukrainian artists of monumental art used the latest progressive technologies of making stained glass. Professional foreign artists - connoisseurs of stained glass art - were invited to make stained glass window compositions of Lviv Renaissance temple buildings. All stained glass windows of Lviv's sacred buildings are highly artistic decorative works and belong to Ukrainian artistic heritage.
