Abstract (sommario):
As part of an advanced doctoral course on representing qualitative research, the authors used collage to represent either who they were as researcher or the research they were conducting. The authors, comprised of the course professor and seven doctoral students, read about collage as inquiry and research representation and then participated reflexively in a course lecture on the background of collage, a collage creation activity, a gallery walk, written and oral reflection on each other’s collages, a research poster presentation at a campus research event, and a final reflection of the entire process. As the process unfolded the authors represented the experience in the form of a collective collage poem, and a methodological and pedagogical article. Elements of this article include a review of collage as an art and research inquiry form, an overview of the pedagogical experiences, and the authors’ experiences shared in the form of brief vignettes and collage images.

Abstract (sommario):
With an eye to the workings of collage – in particular its prophetic temporality – I explore the collage practice of the Australian poet Bella Li, with a focus on her second book, Lost Lake (2018). Taking my cue from movements of broken or disjunctive association in Li’s work, I seek to mirror Li’s poetic collages with a reading that is itself both exploratory and associative. Beginning by commenting on the circularity of collage, this article itself becomes a kind of collage. Li’s surrealist practice, layering evocative object (word, image, idea) over evocative object, instigates a chain of associations. Via such sequences’ ellipses and associative chains, Li writes poetry as transtemporal collage, as a surrealist dream, and as prophecy of what was and is and is yet to come.

Abstract (sommario):
This article reports on collage as a pedagogical practice to support teacher candidate reflection. We outline a multi-step collage-based reflection workshop that was part of a required course on “Inquiries Into Learning.” The summative collage project was designed to help teacher candidates reflect on their vision of learning (hope) and their fears and doubts as beginning teachers. The process and product of their final integrated collage led students to interrogate how their hopes and fears mingle together in practice. Six teacher candidates share their series of collages and GIFs, along with their reflective personal statements. We conclude by highlighting lessons learned through collaging from the perspective of students.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract This article proposes collage as a cyclical epistemology for art therapy and arts-based research practice. Characteristics of collage and a cycle of construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction are presented and intertwined with post-structuralism. Construction, as a stable state of being, focuses on collage's ability to re-purpose materials and hold space. Deconstruction, as an unstable act of fragmenting and juxtaposing, emphasizes collage as a deconstructive event. Reconstruction, as the ongoing process of becoming, focuses on the layers of meaning within collage and its ability to impermanently stabilize. Through this cycle, collage becomes a way of creating, thinking, and being. Furthermore, collage can be considered a fitting epistemology for identity development due to its infinite entanglements, continuous simultaneity, constant instability, and ongoing state of becoming. Together, deconstruction and collage suggest methods for arts-based research, propose a theoretical perspective for art therapy, and provide an ontology and epistemology to guide research, leading to meaning making, potentiality, and a desirable ongoing state of impermanence.

Rayssac, Olivier. Grenoble INPG, 1999. http://www.theses.fr/1999INPG0163.

Testo completo
Abstract (sommario):
Hydrophilic wafer bonding allows to put in contact two surfaces and to lead, after annealing treatment, to the creation of hydrogen bonds and covalent bonds through the interface. This process is more and more used in microtechnologies and microelectronics, particularly to get SOI structures. The objective of this study was to find the conditions allowing to control the bonding energy of the obtained structures, that is to say either to increase the bonding energy (low temperature applications), either to decrease the bonding energy (high temperature applications). In this way, some characterisation methods have been developed in order to well-understand the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of the bonded structures. Various surface treatments (wet treatments and dry treatments) and various layers (dielectric layers and conductive layers) have been used. We observed the influence of surface microroughness for the SiO2/SiO2 structures too. The increase of the surface microroughness value of each SiO2 surface up to 0. 63 nm RMS allowed to decrease the bonding energy at 1100ºC from 2. 1 J. M-2 to 0. 4 J. M-2. With these results, some tools have been realised to debond the obtained structures. These tools allowed to debond thin wafers (100 μrn) processed on their two sides. Only 2/3 of a 100 mm wafer surface has been debonded. Some improvements have to be brought for arriving at the total debonding of 100 mm and 150 mm wafers surfaces. So, this study highlights a possible diversification of the wafer bonding

Abstract (sommario):
Åhaga is a facility building for music, theater, sports, trade shows, product-launches and other events located in the city of Borås. The building is owned and run by the Åhaga Foundation and annually has over 100 000 people visiting it for different purpose. It consists of the original part from 1903 and three different extensions from 1920, 1940 and 2002.   The task of this project was to do another extension to the existing building which deals with the question of adjusting and relating to Åhga's cultural/ historical context and together with the original building meet new demands and functions.    "The accumulation of overlapping traces from successive periods, each trace modifying and being modified by the new additions to produce something like a collage of time” is a thought shared by Kevin Lynch in his work What time is this place.    The essence of the project has been to add a new layer of time to a historical context while enhancing the complexity and contrast. The aim has been to accomplish an interesting architectural entirety.
"The accumulation of overlapping traces from successive periods, each trace modifying and being modified by the new additions to produce something like a collage of time” är vad Kevin Lynch skriver i hans bok What time is this place.

Radisson, Damien. "Collage direct sur surfaces structurées". Thesis, Grenoble, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014GRENY086/document.

Testo completo
Abstract (sommario):
Direct bonding is a process by which two sufficiently flat and clean surfaces can bond to each other without any added adhesive layer. Direct bonding of patterned surfaces is often used for the fabrication of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), where a silicon wafer with cavities is bonded to a plain wafer. The fabrication of these devices is expensive and it would be useful to have guidelines when designing knew devices to know in advance if direct bonding will be possible.A 2D simulation model of the direct bonding of two substrates is developed and usedto study the influence of the cavities on the bonding wave velocity. The prediction of the simulation run with Comsol® are in good coherence with the experimental measures and a 2D law of the bonding velocity is obtained. The bonding of perfectly flat wafers with cavities should always be possible. Limitations to the bonding of real wafers are due to the elastic energy cost of deforming the non perfectly flat wafers. This limit is reached easily when the bonding wave must cross a trench, so a design with a small bonding guide to help cross the cavity will work best. The width of this wave guide should be chosen by considering the bow of the wafer. Indeed the second important design rule is to keep a bonding area big enough to have more adhesion energy than the elastic energy cost due to non flat wafers deformation. The adhesion energy is an important parameter of the direct bonding, as it is theenergy that drives the adhesion. This adhesion energy is different from the more widely known bonding energy which is the energy needed to separate two previously bonded wafers. In this work a simple method to measure the adhesion is proposed. Long time measurement of the evolution of the adhesion energy lead us to propose a mechanism for its evolution linked to the formation of capillary bridges between rough surfaces

Abstract (sommario):
The Government of Bangladesh is currently implementing the College Education Development Project (CEDP) to improve participating colleges' teaching and learning environment and strengthen the strategic planning and management capacity of National University (NU) affiliated tertiary colleges in Bangladesh. The focus of CEDP is to improve the capacity of the National University College system to plan, manage, implement, and monitor institutional programs, as well as strengthen the foundation for the next phase of development activities. CEDP promotes institution-led activities that focus on creating quality teaching-learning environments in government and non-government colleges through the availability of competitive grants. The achievement of the College Education Development Project (CEDP) is the satisfaction level of students, teachers, and employers in terms of the quality and relevance of teaching. To measure the satisfaction level of the relevant stakeholders (i.e., students, teachers, and employers), three beneficiary feedback surveys (i.e., baseline, mid-term, and endline) are planned to be conducted, among which the baseline was carried out in 2019. The Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) conducted the Mid-term Satisfaction Survey in May-June 2022. The mid-term survey is the second of the three planned surveys of the CEDP, measuring the mid-term satisfaction level of the stakeholders, students and teachers of National University-affiliated colleges, and employers of NU graduates. This study uses data from the Mid-term Satisfaction Survey to assess the mid-term satisfaction level of students, teachers, and employers. The study was designed using a mixed-method approach, both quantitative and qualitative, to address the objectives of this study. Data analysis has used both the baseline data collected in 2019 and the mid-term data collected in this study. Using the baseline and mid-term data, a two-round panel data was constructed at the college level. Depending on the specific indicators, the program's effect at the college level was calculated. We compare the overall satisfaction level regarding all the relevant indicators by stakeholder types, i.e., principals, teachers, and students, and observe differences among the average satisfaction levels. The overall teaching and learning environment satisfaction level is 3.81 among college principals, 2.95 among teachers, and 2.57 among students. A similar pattern is also found for other indicators except the collaboration of colleges with industries. The satisfaction level regarding the collaboration of colleges with industries is noted as the lowest for principals (1.62) and teachers (1.76), and for students, it is slightly higher (2.10 on a scale of 5). The lowest satisfaction level among students is recorded for connectivity through the internet (1.89), and the highest for teaching skills (3.92). The regression results show that for the full sample, the Difference-in-Difference (DiD) of the satisfaction scores on the quality of academic infrastructure, the quality of internet connection, and the quality of facilities for students’ soft skill improvement are statistically significant. The DiD for the other two satisfaction scores, namely, the teaching and learning environment and the degree of industry linkage, are not statistically significantly different from zero. These results show that the colleges that received Institutional Development Grants (IDGs) have made a positive and statistically significant impact on the improvement of the quality of academic infrastructure, quality of internet connection and other related facilities, and quality of facilities for students’ soft skill compared to those who did not receive this grant. However, the grant has made some changes in the teaching and learning environment and the degree of industry linkage between IDG awarded colleges and IDG non-recipient colleges. These changes are not statistically significant. The overall findings from the mid-term satisfaction survey highlighted that: (1) Institutional Development Grant (IDG) has made positive and statistically significant impact on the improvement of quality of academic infrastructure, quality of internet connection and other related facilities, and quality of facilities for students’ soft skill compared to those who did not receive this grant; (2) The grant has made some changes in the teaching and learning environment and the degree of industry linkage between IDG-awarded colleges and IDG non-recipient colleges. These changes are not significant enough to increase the satisfaction level of the students, teachers, and principals. Therefore, this study proposes these recommendations for increasing the overall satisfaction level of all stakeholders: (1) The poor level of industry collaboration has been highlighted by all types of beneficiaries. To facilitate industry collaboration, job fairs should be organised every year, preferably at the district level; (2) Introducing short course facilities can increase the job market opportunities of the NU-affiliated colleges; (3) Subject-based pedagogical training for the NU teachers is highly recommended; (4) The interrelation and collaboration between NU-affiliated colleges and universities should be increased. The colleges that are not well equipped with enough facilities can collaborate with the universities to share their equipment, such as computer labs, libraries, scientific labs, etc. This will help the less privileged colleges provide quality teaching and learning facilities to the students; (5) Forming and activating the activities of Alumni Associations in the NU-affiliated colleges; (6) There should be funds available for the renovation of old academic buildings, addition to an existing building, and upgrading labs and research facilities for teachers wherever appropriate, (7) There should be some provision of need-based funds/emergency grant that might be used or made available to the college authorities in case of sudden emergency or need (e.g., a sudden flash flood in Sylhet division)

Abstract (sommario):
How can the library be best positioned to continue enabling student and institutional success? The Community College Academic and Student Support Ecosystem research initiative seeks to examine how student-facing service departments—including academic libraries—are organized, funded, and staffed at community and technical colleges across the country. In February 2021, we surveyed 321 community college library directors to provide the community with a snapshot of current service provision, leadership perspectives on the impact of COVID-19, and challenges faced in making decisions and navigating change.
