Abstract (sommario):
The commuting graph of a finite non-abelian group G with center Z(G), denoted by Γc(G), is a simple undirected graph whose vertex set is G∖Z(G), and two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if xy=yx. Alwardi et al. (Bulletin, 2011, 36, 49-59) defined the common neighborhood matrix CN(G) and the common neighborhood energy Ecn(G) of a simple graph G. A graph G is called CN-hyperenergetic if Ecn(G)>Ecn(Kn), where n=|V(G)| and Kn denotes the complete graph on n vertices. Two graphs G and H with equal number of vertices are called CN-equienergetic if Ecn(G)=Ecn(H). In this paper we compute the common neighborhood energy of Γc(G) for several classes of finite non-abelian groups, including the class of groups such that the central quotient is isomorphic to group of symmetries of a regular polygon, and conclude that these graphs are not CN-hyperenergetic. We shall also obtain some pairs of finite non-abelian groups such that their commuting graphs are CN-equienergetic.

Abstract (sommario):
Nitrogen-doped carbons (NCs) as supports for metal catalysts used in heterogeneous reactions are increasingly being investigated. In this work, NCs were prepared from monosodium glutamate (MSG) by direct carbonization, which were used as supporters to prepare Bi/NC catalysts. The Bi/NC catalysts were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and nitrogen adsorption isotherm. The results indicate that nitrogen was doped in the formation of pyridinic N, pyrrolic N, and graphitic N. The NCs possess high surface area (~652 m2/g) and uniform mesopore size (~2.11 nm). Bismuth nanoparticles (NPs) dispersed uniformly in NC with diameter of 10-20 nm. The catalytic performances were investigated using the reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) with excess potassium borohydride as a model reaction, the results indicating that the Bi/NC catalysts have higher activity and better reusability than the Bi/AC catalyst. Under the following conditions: 100 mL of 4-NP (2 mM), 0.03 g of 3%Bi/NC, n(KBH4) : n(4-NP) = 40:1, and at room temperature, the rate constant k can reach 0.31 min-1. Copyright © 2018 BCREC Group. Abstract (sommario):
Two-dimensional (2D) materials have gained great importance since the discovery of graphene. Of these several 2D materials, PbFCl and BaFCl, have not been exploited for electrochemical applications. Herein, we have prepared single and few-layered nanosheets of PbFCl and BaFCl by exfoliation through ultrasonication in different solvents such as water, dimethylformamide and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. The Hansen-Solubility-Parameters of the solvents played an important role in exfoliation of bulk phase of PbFCl and BaFCl. These materials were studied for supercapacitor properties by means of cyclic voltammetry (CV) curves, galvanostatic charge–discharge (GCD) curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Exfoliated 1–2 layered PbFCl exhibits a high-specific capacitance of 158 F g−1 at a scan rate of 10 mV s−1. References: - Geim, A. K. & Novoselov, K. S. The rise of graphene. Nat. Abstract (sommario):
The reef tracts of Barbados have been investigated by electron spin resonance dating; all parameters necessary for ESR dating (including effective α-efficiency and thermal stability) were determined without cross checking with another independent dating method. In addition, some U-series analyses were carried out in order to test the reliability of ESR. In most cases, the results show a satisfactory agreement between ESR and both these and previously published U-series dates (M. L. Bender, R. G. Fairbanks, F. W. Taylor, R. K. Matthews, J. G. Goddard, and W. S. Broecker (1979). Geological Society of America. Bulletin 90 , 577–594). For the oldest samples, ESR dates tend to exceed He/U dates, suggesting that there might have been He loss from aragonite. Raised reef tracts are assigned to high sea stands from successive interglacial stages 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15. ESR and U-series (230Th/234U) dates for corals and molluses in North Barbados do not support the suggestion of N. P. James ((1971). Unpublished Thesis, McGill University, Montreal) that this region has subsided during part of the past 125,000 yr. Whereas the experimentally determined mean life (τ) of trapped electrons is only 500,000 yr for the ambient temperature in Barbados, there is no evidence from the comparison between ESR and other dates for thermal fading. This emphasizes the difficulty of experimental measurement of τ.

Abstract (sommario):
Among Erymidae Van Straelen, 1925 (Van Straelen V. 1925. 1840a. Briefliche Mittheilungen. Neues Jahrbuch für Mineralogie, Geognosie, Geologie und Petrefactenkunde 576–587) includes the largest number of species, mainly from Jurassic deposits. However, the lack of clear diagnoses for erymid genera has led to mistakes in generic assignments and to the establishment of redundant genera. The review of the concept of Eryma herein presents an attempt to clarify its diagnosis, mainly supported by the carapace groove pattern and the morphology of chelae of the first pair of pereiopods, and to emphasize its systematic implications. Thus, we maintain the synonymy of Klytia Meyer, 1840, Bolina Münster, 1839 (Münster G. 1839. Decapoda Macrura. Abbildung und Beschreibung der Fossilen Langschwänzigen Krebse in den Kalkschiefern von Bayern. Beiträge zur Petrefaktenkunde 2: 1–88) (sensu Étallon [Étallon A. 1859. Palaeontographica 70: 115–278) with Eryma. Moreover, a review of the genera Protoclytiopsis Birshtein, 1958 (Birshtein JA. 1958. Ein Vertreter der ältesten Ordo der Crustacea Decapoda Protoclitiopsis antiqua gen. nov. sp. nov. aus dem Permo West-Sibiriens. Doklady Akademii Nauk, SSSR 122: 477–480), and Galicia Garassino and Krobicki, 2002 (Garassino A, Krobicki M. 2002. Galicia marianae n. gen., n. sp. (Crustacea, Decapoda, Astacidea) from the Oxfordian (Upper Jurassic) of the Southern Polish Uplands. Bulletin of the Mizunami Fossil Museum 29: 51–59), reveals the presence of a junction between the postcervical and branchiocardiac grooves. This feature is diagnostic of Eryma and supports the integration of these genera into the synonymy of Eryma. The addition of Protoclytiopsis to the synonymy of Eryma makes Eryma antiquum (Birshtein, 1958) nov. comb. the oldest representative of the genus and of the family, extending its stratigraphic range to the Late Permian (Changhsingian). Thus, this work also emphasizes that Erymidae crossed the Permian-Triassic boundary.

Abstract (sommario):
A microgravity investigation on bedrock topography was conducted at Maluri park reference level in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The study aim to mapping the near-surface structure and soil and land cover distribution for geography and geophysics surveys. Two types of cross-section modeling of the residual anomaly generated the MaluriBouguer Anomaly model for site-1 and site-2 at Maluri Park. The 2D microgravity models produced the contour map, displaying the characterization due to density contrast in rock types while mapping the subsurface geological structure at different depths. Moreover, a synthetic model was initiated with the assumption of lateral distance on the left and right sides taken at 50 m and a depth of 60 m. The results of modeling confirmed that the soil and rock type composition on both models site tests are topsoil (1.1 to 1.92 g/cm3), soil (1.8 g/cm3), clay (1.63 g/cm3), gravel (1.7 g/cm3), sand (2.0 g/cm3), shale (2.4 g/cm3), sandstone (2.76 g/cm3), and limestone (2.9 g/cm3). The 2D gravity modeling using two model site tests obtained a correspondence with the observed microgravity data. Keywords: Bouguer anomaly, limestone, microgravity, soil structure, topography. Abstract (sommario):
In the present work, several parameters affecting on the catalytic behavior were studied in the process of partial oxidation of methanol to formaldehyde, such as: Mo/Fe ratio in unsupported catalysts, weight percent of the metallic phase in the supported catalysts, the effect of different supports, the method of Mo-Fe deposition on the supports, and the stability of the prepared catalysts against coke. These catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT-IR), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), N2 adsorption-desorption, and Atomic Adsorption Spectroscopy (AAS) methods. The best results (the methanol conversion = 97 % and formaldehyde selectivity = 96 %) were obtained for Mo-Fe/g-Al2O3 prepared by co-precipitation method with Mo/Fe = 1.7, 50 wt.% of Fe-Mo phase, 2 mL/h methanol flow rate, and 120 mL/min air flow rate at 350 oC.
