Testo completoThe thesis deals with the creation of mobile sound zones using adaptive approaches. The methods in use for the creation of sound zones aim to jointly resolve the sound reproduction in one zone and the minimisation of the energy of the signal reproduced in the other zone, from an array of loudspeakers. The thesis is divided into two parts: the estimation of impulse responses and moving sound zones. The aim of this thesis is to create two zones in space with a controlled sound field, which can move in space over time. In the first part, the estimation of the system's impulse responses is detailed, a necessary prerequisite for sound zone algorithms. Based on existing adaptive methods for estimating time-varying multi-input, multi-output systems, a new method applied to acoustics and MISO is presented. This method, called MISO-Autostep, makes it possible to estimate impulse responses over time without having to fine-tune any parameters. In the second part, the BACC-PM sound zone algorithm is rewritten in recursive form. This ability to update the filter coefficients over time opens up the possibility of adapting to temporal changes in the system geometry. Finally, preliminary results are presented with the joint use of the two adaptive algorithms in the case of an abrupt change in the system geometry

Testo completoBubble columns reactors are widely used in chemical and biological engineering due to its simple configuration without mobile parts. However, the scale-up prediction of a bubble columns reactors is still a challenging process, due to the lack reliable experimental data and models. The present work aims to construct detailed database of the radial and axial evolution of local hydrodynamics properties (gas hold-up, bubble size and velocity, liquid velocity) acquired in several bubble columns in a scale factor of 20 (from 0.15 to 3 m in diameter), for a superficial gas velocity from 3 to 35 cm/s, yielding gas hold-ups up to 35 %. Measurements of local gas hold-up, bubble velocity and bubble vertical size are performed by a 1C mono-fiber optical probe. Moreover, a novel method to measure mean horizontal diameter of bubbles at high void fraction and in a multi-directional flow is proposed. This method is based in the spatial-cross correlation of signal of two optical probes placed parallel side by side, at a given distance from each other, at the same elevation in the column. The validation of the bubble size measurements are performed through a comparison of the results with an endoscopic imaging method. For superficial gas velocities higher than 9 cm/s, a good agreement is found between the three methods (1C mono-fiber optical probe, cross-correlation and endoscopic imaging). A slight increase is registered with the increase of the superficial gas velocity, however there is no significant variation with the column diameter.A 1-D radial model of a bubbly flow (Ueyama and Miyauchi, 1979) developed for a invariant flow along the column axis, is used to benchmark several classic formalisms of the drag force, using experimental average bubble size. Results show that to correctly predict the experimental gas flowrate, it is necessary to use a Swarm factor (Simonnet et al, 2008) that reduces the drag coefficient for high gas hold-up values. Moreover, Fluent® 3D URANS simulations are performed using the previously validated drag force formalism. A good agreement is found between experimental and simulated radial profiles of gas holdup and liquid velocity for column diameters ranging from 0.4 m up to 3 m in diameter in a range of superficial gas velocities from 3 cm/s to 35 cm/s

Testo completoThis thesis studies the structural film sound analyzing their theoretical foundations, its practical treatments and aesthetic appreciation. A series of international structural films included under four acoustic concepts are located in order to discuss the dynamics of their sounds. The research focuses on the notion of noise, the use of the voice, the techniques of repetition and the concept of soundscape, to examine twelve films which distort the sound emphasizing its materiality. The study confirms the acoustic experiments os structural film as an essential resource to question the technological limitations of the medium.

Testo completoDecompression sicknesses (DCS) are a consequence of microbubbles formation in tissues during decompression. Many fields are affected by this issue: divers, astronauts, tunneling, hyperbaric medical staff... It is observed that these accidents can occur even if the decompression tables are respected. The detection and characterization of decompression bubbles have a diagnostic potential for the prevention of DCS. Today, the detection of microbubbles is performed by experienced health workers using Doppler systems. However, this approach has a high dependence on the operator and does not provide quantitative information (number, size) about the distribution of circulating bubbles. Moreover, it is not suitable for the detection of stationary bubbles (tissue bubbles). These limitations lead to the development of a bi-frequency ultrasonic method for microbubbles detection and characterization by setting them into resonance. The constraints as real-time measurements, size polydispersity ([1 to 200 μm]) and saturation of tissues require the use of very low powerful excitation but high bandwidth waves. The solutions implemented are aimed firstly to reduce the complexity of the instrumentation and secondly to consider the dynamics of the excitation. In addition, an original solution, protected by a patent, has been developed. It allows to overcome the measurement of resonance while maintaining a discriminating character between bubbles and tissues

Testo completoMultiple scattering and non linear effects are antagonists so it is not commun to observea coupling of those two effects. In acoustics, non linear effects are important when they are cumulative, therefore dispersion relation is modified by multiple scattering and non linear effects cannotbe cumulative. Bubbles are known to have a non linear behavior and also to be good scatterers witha scattering cross section higher than the geometric cross section at resonance frequency. Therefore, bubbly media seem to be good to observe multiple scattering in non linear regime. A bubbly-mediumhas three different regimes. At low frequency, non linear effects are important and cumulative butthere is no multiple scattering effects. At bubbles resonance frequency, non linear behavior and alsomultiple scattering effects are important but the non linear effects cannot be cumulative. At high frequency, multiple scattering effects are important but without no non linear effects. The experimentsin this thesis show, on the one hand, a high frequency wave propagating in a bubbly-medium andon the other hand, the resonance frequency wave propagation. At high frequency, a coda is observedin experiment and modeled by a diffusion equation. At resonance frequency, the model, confirmed bythe experiments, leads us to some applications : acoustic frequency doubler, acoustic diode and phaseconjugation mirror
