In recent years, statistical methods such as bibliometrics have increasingly intensified to analyse books, articles, and other publications. Bibliometric methods, as techniques to measure the information distribution models, are frequently used in the field of information science and social research. The main purpose of this article is to offer scholars a general framework for the comparison between positive and negative aspects of bibliometrics, on the methods and tools used. Therefore, both the strengths and the critical points will be highlighted, to obtain a complete and detailed overview of the entire argument. In the methodological part, a bibliometric analysis will be applied to various case studies, such as with the Generalized Error Distribution, analysing and commenting on the data, and using the Bibliometrix software. The results suggest that in the future there will be greater consolidation of bibliometrics, as the introduction of increasingly advanced technologies will create new tools and methods characterized by a high degree of automation and speed.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to raise awareness of the potential of open bibliometrics, especially for the discovery of previously undiscovered public knowledge. Design/methodology/approach The viewpoint considers the limitations of the most popular current bibliometric tools and the possibilities offered from more open tools. It is supported by analysis of the openness of keywords associated with bibliometric studies in 2016. Findings The paper finds that although tools are emerging that offer more open bibliometrics, bibliometric research nonetheless continues to make use of restricted services. Originality/value This viewpoint on the potential of open bibliometrics is supported by an analysis of the current openness of bibliometric keywords.

Universities are increasingly offering support services for bibliometrics, often based in the library. This paper describes work done to produce a competency model for those supporting bibliometrics. The results of a questionnaire in which current practitioners rated bibliometric tasks as entry level, core or specialist are reported. Entry level competencies identified were explaining bibliometric concepts, doing basic calculations and some professional skills. Activities identified by participants as core are outlined. Reflecting on items that were considered in scope but specialist there was less stress on evaluating scholars, work at a strategic level, working with data outside proprietary bibliometric tools and consultancy-type services as opposed to training for disintermediated use. The authors examine the possibilities of bibliometrics enhancing and complementing information and library processes to support scientific research: applying bibliometric analysis of science organizations’ document flows to monitor publication activities; using bibliometric methods to design and support scientific research in various subjects, and to organize certain library processes, e.g. collection development and user information demand study; and dating ofrelevant information. The authors focus on the bibliometrics fundamental importance for exploring processes of document information flows. They argue that the introduction of bibliometric procedures in scientific libraries would increase their status and make them actors of academic communication system. The examples are given of using bibliometrics for detecting fraud and adulteration schemes in science practice. The key methods and procedures of bibliometric research in scientific libraries are characterized. Main risks due to the introduction of bibliometrics into scientific research are defined. The authors emphasize the scientific libraries’ need for competent librarians which means developing continuous professional education system; within this context workshops and training courses, instructional aids and recommendations, training professionals at universities are also important.

This exploratory study tries to get insights on one way of exteriorizing the publication activity of bibliometricians and how such activity is taken into consideration within the scientific community. As we thought in advance, the evidence shows that the USA is the most productive, most cited and most collaborative publisher. The neighbourhood is a ground to collaborate, like Canada or Mexico with the USA, and Belgium with the Netherlands. The most visible topics are small-world networks and webometrics.

Bibliometrics is a tool to evaluate and comprehend work. Its usage is steadily spreading to various disciplines. The main aim of this research paper is twofold. Firstly, to use bibliometrix as an R package tool to provide bibliometric information on 1,995 publications considered from the Scopus database. Secondly, to serve as a source for finding answers to new scientific questions through further research on engineering education for sustainable development. It is not hard to understand that higher education, especially engineering education, has a more significant role in realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030. A review of research papers on engineering education and sustainable development published between 2010 and 2023 was conducted. The bibliometrix analysis identified the current level of research on Engineering Education for Sustainable Development (EESD). Through the results of this study, we have broadened our understanding of who, which, and what aspects of EESD, as well as possible research areas in EESD to explore. This study presents implications and recommendations for the people at the helm of authority in engineering education institutions and policymakers. They can play an instrumental role in developing a society with a sustainable future. Sumber daya air merupakan sumber daya alam yang penting bagi keberlangsungan hidup manusia dan lingkungan, namun pengelolaannya masih belum efektif dan efisien. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah memaparkan dan menganalisis gap analisa tren penelitian di bidang lingkungan sumber daya air, serta membantu identifikasi kerentanan dan kesenjangan penelitian yang masih ada. Penelitian ini menggunakan basis data scopus dengan jumlah 92409 artikel dan terekstraksi menjadi 12 artikel. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan analisis prisma, kemudian dikembangkan menggunakan bibliometrika menggunakan Vosviewer dan Biblioshiny. Hasil penelitian ini adalah visualisasi dan penjelasan bibliometrika dalam topik lingkungan sumber daya air menurut Co-Authorship, Co-Occurance belum mengalami pembahasan yang relative tetap berdasarakan referensi dan kata kunci dalam penelitian dari berbagai negara belahan dunia ini. Penelitian ini diharapkan memberikan kontribusi penting dalam penelitian dan pengembangan manajemen sumber daya air yang berkelanjutan secara efektif dan efisien. Kata kunci: Sumber Daya Air; Lingkungan; Bibliometrik; Biblioshiny; ABSTRACT The management of water resources is crucial for the survival of both humans and the environment. However, there is still a lack of effectiveness and efficiency in this area. The purpose of this investigation is to describe and analyze disparity in research trends regarding environmental water resources, while also identifying existing research weaknesses and gaps. A total of 92,409 articles from the Scopus database were analyzed, and 12 articles were selected for this study. The prism analysis method was employed, and bibliometrics were utilized through Vosviewer and Biblioshiny. The findings of this study provide a visualization and bibliometric explanation of the topic of environmental water resources, demonstrating that Co-Authorship and Co-Occurance have not been thoroughly explored based on references and keywords from various countries around the globe. This research is anticipated to be a significant contribution to the development of effective and efficient sustainable water resources management. In this paper, I first discuss the field of bibliometrics, which is a quantitative approach to analyzing scholarly publications, and its subfield, scientometrics, which focuses exclusively on scientific literature. I argue that the use of bibliometric methods has been growing in applied linguistics in recent years, and explore the common features between bibliometrics and scientometrics. I will then review the papers published in the special issue on bibliometrics in applied linguistics, which features nine papers on various bibliometric topics. I conclude with suggestions for future research in the field, including the development of scales for measuring perceived prestige, investigation of indicators of influence and a predictive theory for impact of second language (L2) research, and further investigation into the imbalance in the representation of authors based in different parts of the world.

Resumo: Considerando a crescente importância da imagem como elemento de informação, o que pressupõe o desenvolvimento de abordagens cada vez mais acuradas de organização e de representação, no presente trabalho busca-se identificar as formas pelas quais a organização e representação da informação imagética tem sido discutida no âmbito da International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) com o objetivo de verificar quais são os referenciais e as tendências teóricas da análise e da representação da imagem no universo da organização do conhecimento em nível internacional. Para tanto, será analisada a literatura científica oficial da ISKO por meio dos anais dos congressos internacionais e da revista Knowledge Organization, entre os anos de 1990 a 2015. Nesse sentido, serão selecionados os artigos que apresentem o(s) termo(s) image*, picture*, photo*, film*, movie* no título e/ou no resumo, a partir do que se procederá à análise de domínio, a partir das abordagens bibliométrica e epistemológica propostas por Hjørland (2002).
Abstract: Considering the increasing importance of image as an element of information, which presuposes the development of increasingly accurate approaches to organization and representation, the present work aims to identify the ways in which the organization and representation of imagery information has been discussed in the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) with the objective of verifying the theoretical references and trends of image analysis and representation in the universe of knowledge organization at the international level. In order to achieve this, the official scientific literature of the ISKO is analyzed including the proceedings of the international conferences and the Knowledge Organization journal, from 1990 to 2015. In this sense, I analyzed the articles that present the term (s) image *, picture *, photo *, film *, movie * in the title and/or abstract using domain analysis in the bibliometric and epistemological approaches proposed by Hjørland (2002).

Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar artigos relacionados a sistemas de informação geográfica (SIG) em periódicos internacionais em um período de dez anos (2006-2015), evidenciando os principais autores, fontes/periódicos, palavras-chave, temas correlatos, países e universidades. Os SIGs atendem a um grande leque de finalidades cartográficas e espaciais, tendo uma série de aplicações em ciências humanas, exatas, e biológicas; sendo necessário assim, o entendimento do seu contexto científico em contexto internacional. A bibliometria foi utilizada como ferramental para a análise quantitativa e qualitativa deste cenário: com base em dados do Web of Science Core Colletion, e através de procedimentos bibliométricos, foi possível representar e compreender os principais elementos da ciência em/sobre SIG do período. Constatou-se a importância do SIG para a geografia: os principais autores ou são geógrafos, ou possuem pós-graduações em geografia, ou trabalham em departamentos de geografia; entretanto, apesar da maior parte das publicações pertencerem à esta área, os principais periódicos são multisciplinares, envolvendo temas e palavras-chave relacionados à análise espacial. No âmbito territorial, Estados Unidos, China e Europa Ocidental lideram as pesquisas globais em/sobre SIG; sendo o Brasil relevante no cenário sulamericano, porém periférico no cenário global. Evidenciou-se, no geral, uma significante desigualdade na produção científica para parâmetros pesquisados: embora haja uma grande quantidade de publicações, o estado-da-arte da informação geográfica corresponde à apenas uma pequena elite de autores, periódicos, e instituições; ocorrendo também, uma concentração de temas correlatos e palavras-chave.
This research aims to analyze articles related to geographic information systems (GIS) in international journals in a period of ten years (2006-2015), showing the main authors, sources / journals, keywords, related topics, countries and universities . The SIGs meet a wide range of cartographic and space purposes and a number of applications in the humanities, exact and biological; therefore necessary, the understanding of its scientific context in the international context. Bibliometry was used as a tool for quantitative and qualitative analysis of this scenario: based on the Web of Science Core Colletion data, and through bibliometric procedures, it was possible to represent and understand the main elements of science in / on GIS period. It was noted the importance of GIS to geography: the main authors or are geographers, or have postgraduate degrees in geography, or work in geography department; however, despite the majority of publications belong to this area, the main journals are multisciplinares involving topics and keywords related to spatial analysis. At territorial level, the United States, China and Western Europe leading the global research in / on GIS; and the relevant Brazil in the South American scene, but peripheral in the global scenario. Is evidenced in general, a significant inequality in scientific production surveyed parameters: although there is a lot of a publication, state-of-the-art geographic information corresponds to only small elite of authors, journals, and institutions; occurring also a concentration of related topics and keywords.

Esta pesquisa objetiva identificar quantitativamente todas as patentes, quer sejam de invenção, modelos de utilidades, marcas, desenho industrial e criação de softwares, no âmbito da Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), procurando destacar os pesquisadores mais produtivos, suas temáticas e colaborações existentes, tanto no âmbito individual como no âmbito institucional. A partir dos dados quantitativos procura-se descrever e analisar os pesquisadores mais produtivos, as parcerias estabelecidas entre eles e as parcerias estabelecidas entre as instituições às quais pertencem. Justifica-se esta pesquisa, especialmente, pela necessidade de se conhecer e dar visibilidade aos registros de patentes no âmbito da UNESP, e, ainda, pela inexistência de trabalhos dessa natureza na referida universidade. Como procedimento de pesquisa, analisou-se o documento fornecido pela Agência UNESP de Inovação–AUIN, contendo a relação das patentes depositadas em nome da UNESP, de 1980 até 2010. This research aims to quantitatively identify all patents, whether an invention, utility models, trademarks, industrial design and software design within UNESP - Universidade Estadual Paulista, seeking to highlight the most productive researchers, their themes and existing collaborations, both as individual as the institutional framework. From the quantitative data it is sought to describe and analyze the most productive researchers, the partnerships established between them and also the partnerships between the institutions to which they belong. This is appropriate for this research, especially by the needs of knowing and giving visibility to the records of patents at UNESP, considering the lack of such work at the University. As a research procedure, we analyzed the documents provided by UNESP Technology Transfer Office - AUIN, containing a list of patents filed on behalf of UNESP, from 1980 to 2010. They were categorized according to the following types: Patent (PI), utility models (MU), trademarks (TM) and industrial design (ID), all distributed according to the table of areas of Knowledge of CNPq (large area and area): Agricultural Sciences (large area) and Veterinary Medicine (areas), Biological Sciences (large area) and Botany and Microbiology (areas), Exact Sciences and Earth (large area) and Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Probability Statistics and Geosciences (areas); Health Sciences (large area) and Pharmacy, Medicine and Dentistry (areas), engineering (large area) and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering (areas). El presente estudio tuvo por objetivo realizar un estudio bibliométrico sobre los artículos científicos de Psicología sobre niños diagnosticados con TDAH, recogidos de la base de dato Redalyc - Revistas de Latinoamérica. Para ello, se realizó una búsqueda de la variable de interés encontrando 24 estudios, de los cuales finalmente, quedaron 4 seleccionados por los criterios de inclusión. Por medio del análisis de los datos, se encontró que la mayoría de estudios no contaba con doi, orcid, hipótesis, ni recomendaciones. Asimismo, los estudios se caracterizaron por usar instrumentos de medición mixtos (cuestionarios y entrevistas). Se concluye que existe una gran necesidad en continuar investigando las alteraciones y dificultades concomitantes que manifiestan los niños diagnosticados con TDAH, debido al impacto que tiene sobre su adaptación social, escolar y familiar.
The objective of the present investigation was to perform a bibliometric study on the scientific articles of Psychology on children diagnosed with ADHD, collected from the Redalyc - Latin American Magazines database. For this, it has been made a search for the variable of interest, finding 24 studies, of which, finally, 4 were selected by the inclusion criteria. Through data analysis, it was found that most studies did not have doi, orcid, hypotheses, or recommendations. Likewise, the studies were characterized by using mixed measurement instruments (questionnaires and interviews). It is concluded that there is a great need to continue investigating the concomitant alterations and difficulties manifested by children diagnosed with ADHD, due to the impact it has on their social, school and family adaptation.

Há poucos estudos em história da ciência do solo e no Brasil essa matéria praticamente ainda não recebeu atenção pela comunidade científica. Este trabalho focaliza a formação da pesquisa brasileira em erosão do solo a partir de uma análise bibliométrica e geográfica. Foi feita uma compilação de todos os artigos científicos publicados sobre o tema por autores vinculados a instituições brasileiras e subseqüente armazenamento em um modelo de banco de dados dimensional estruturado especificamente para esse objetivo. Indicadores quantitativos foram calculados e a geografia da pesquisa mapeada por meio de consultas SQL e ferramentas de geoprocessamento. Os resultados apontaram para uma gênese recente da pesquisa brasileira em erosão do solo e a uma centralização da produção científica e formação de linhas em instituições e autores do Sul e Sudeste do Brasi. Ainda, a análise dos dados temáticos indicou uma convergência ao enfoque da erosão sob uma perspectiva eminentemente agrícola e grande ênfase à pesquisa dos fatores do modelo USLE de estimativa de erosão.
Studies of soil science history are rare and Brazilian scientific community has not given attention to this subject yet. The present study focus on the formation of brazilian soil erosion research from a bibliometric approach. A wide set of published scientific papers was organized into a relational database an analized by means of SQL queries and GIS tools. Quantitative indicators were calculated and the research geography mapped. The results point to a quite recent genesis of brazilian soil erosion research and its tendency to be centralized in a few institutions and authors from South and Southeast of Brazil. Furthermore, thematic data analysis indicates a convergence in erosion studies mainly under an agricultural perspective, and a great emphasis on USLE soil erosion prediction model.

This dissertation is a bibliometric study of scientific articles on Internal Control and Risk Management presented and published at the USP Congress on Financial Control and Accounting and at EnANPAD between 2001 and 2008. The subject was chosen because of the importance and current relevance that Internal Control and Risk Management have taken on in the global and complex society of today. Researching the evolution and theoretical concepts related to these issues has become essential nowadays. The research method employed was the descriptive one, of the survey type, with a quantitative focus and bibliographical and documental characteristics. Of the 6,960 articles presented and published by the USP Congress and EnANPAD in the period 149 (2.1% of the total 6,960) were selected, 90 from EnANPAD and 59 from the USP Congress. This was the volume of articles used in the research. The application of Lotka's Law showed in this study that there is not yet an elite group of authors that have written on Internal Control and Risk Management at the USP Congress and at EnANPAD. The study also revealed that: in the two events taken together the quantity of articles signed by up to two authors in the period reached 49% of the total (44.1% in the USP Congress and 52.3% at EnANPAD); 78.6% are male; 68.1% of them are University lecturers; and that only 23.5% of the articles on Internal Control and Risk Management at the USP Congress and EnANPAD were published afterwards in specialist periodicals.
Esta disserta????o trata do estudo bibliom??trico dos artigos cient??ficos que abordam a tem??tica Controle Interno e Gest??o de Riscos apresentados e publicados no Congresso USP de Controladoria e Contabilidade e no EnANPAD entre 2001 e 2008. Tal tema foi escolhido em fun????o da import??ncia e da atualidade que assume em uma sociedade globalizada e complexa como a atual, de forma que pesquisar sobre a evolu????o e os conceitos te??ricos relacionados a esses assuntos tornou-se imprescind??vel nos dias de hoje. O m??todo de pesquisa empregado foi o descritivo, do tipo levantamento, com enfoque quantitativo e com caracter??sticas bibliogr??fica e documental. Do total de 6.960 artigos apresentados nos eventos supracitados, selecionaram-se 149 (2,1%), sendo 90 do EnANPAD e 59 do Congresso USP. Esse foi o volume de artigos utilizados na pesquisa. A bibliometria é um instrumento quantitativo que através de medidas matemáticas e estatísticas permite mapear e gerar informações que auxiliam na tomada de decisões de uma determinada área científica. Verificou-se o evidente crescimento da produção científica na área de flotação de caulinita e da significativa importância desse assunto em meios acadêmicos, realizou-se a necessidade de um estudo de natureza bibliométrica. Este estudo é uma maneira de observar a quantidade do que está sendo produzido, quais são os principais trabalhos desenvolvidos e quais foram os resultados atingidos. O presente trabalho apresenta uma discussão de natureza bibliométrica sobre artigos publicados no mundo, relacionados sobre o assunto flotação de caulinita, em periódicos internacionais no período de 1992 e 2015. Através deste trabalho foi possível reconhecer e identificar quais são as tendências temáticas e metodológicas que estão sendo usadas, além dos principais coletores utilizados na flotação de caulinita. Os resultados mostram que é significativa a quantidade de artigos produzidos por autores chineses, especialmente a partir do ano de 2013, visto ser a China a maior produtora de alumínio no mundo, e a caulinita, é o rejeito no processo de flotação reversa do diásporo. Foram encontrados muitos estudos com propostas e estruturas semelhantes, utilizando métodos que são importantes para compreender os fenômenos físico-químicos na flotação, como: métodos de caracterização mineralógica, potencial zeta, métodos de adsorção e outros. Os artigos analisados tinham uma média de 7 páginas por artigo e todos foram pesquisados no SciVerse ScienceDirect, pertencente à editora Elsevier. Dos 39 artigos analisados, 31 possuem avaliação interdisciplinar da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) e são classificados no estrato A1, que são artigos de mais alta qualidade. Os resultados mostraram a dificuldade de trabalhar com o tema de flotação de caulinita individualmente e confirmou que existe uma colaboração científica entre autores. No estudo por palavras-chave, (ao todo 180) verificou-se a presença de termos como \"aluminossilicatos\", \"minérios oxidados\" e \"diásporo\" junto com o termo \"caulinita\", além de outras palavras-chave como \"flotação\" e \"adsorção\". Os minerais envolvidos na flotação junto com caulinita também foram avaliados, mineral diásporo aparece frequentemente relacionando com o mineral de interesse dessa dissertação. Na avaliação por citações pelo Scopus, os artigos foram classificados conforme sua importância no meio acadêmico. Além disso, através da análise bibliométrica verificouse que os reagentes utilizados nos testes de flotação de caulinita são de grande maioria derivados de nitrogenados catiônicos. Os valores de pH mais utilizado de flotação ocorreram em meio ácido, embora, muitos coletores apresentem também bons resultados em meio neutro e/ou alcalino. Observou-se também que ainda há muito para ser pesquisado, visto que a maior parte dos artigos amostrados realizam pesquisa em escala laboratorial e não descrevem a realidade das usinas de beneficiamento de caulinita no mundo.
Bibliometrics is a quantitative instrument that, through mathematical and statistical measures, allows to map and generate information that assists in the decision-making of a certain scientific area. In the area of kaolinite flotation, a clear growth of scientific production and a significant importance of this subject in academic areas were noted, thus warranting the need for a bibliometric study. This study is a way to observe the amount being produced, which are the main projects under development and which results have been obtained. The current work presents a bibliometric discussion on articles published worldwide concerning kaolinite flotation in international journals from 1992 to 2015. This work allowed to recognize and identify which are the thematic and methodological trends that are being used, in addition to the main collectors used in kaolinite flotation. The results show that a significant amount of articles is produced by Chinese authors, especially from 2013, as China is the largest aluminum producer in the world, and kaolinite is the reject in the reverse flotation process of diaspore. Many studies using methods that are important to understand physicochemical phenomena in flotation, with similar proposals and structures, were found, such as: mineralogical characterization methods, zeta potential, adsorption methods and others. Assessed articles had, on average, 7 pages each and all were searched in Elsevier\'s SciVerse ScienceDirect. Thirty-one out of the 39 analyzed articles have interdisciplinary evaluation of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and are rated at stratum A1, which corresponds to higher quality articles. The results showed the difficulty of working with kaolinite flotation individually and confirmed that there is scientific collaboration among authors. The study by keyword (180 in total) found terms as \"aluminosilicate\", \"oxidized ores\" and \"diaspore\" together with \"kaolinite\", in addition to other keywords, such as \"flotation\" and \"adsorption\". Minerals involved in flotation together with kaolinite were also evaluated, and diaspore mineral frequently appears related to the mineral of interest of this dissertation. Articles were rated according to their importance in the academic world using the assessment of citations by Scopus. In addition, bibliometric analysis showed that reagents used in kaolinite flotation tests are mostly derived from cationic nitrogenated compounds. Most used pH values in flotation are acidic, although many collectors also have good results in neutral and/or alkaline media. It was also noted that there is still much to be researched, since most articles sampled researched in laboratory scale and do not describe the reality of processing plants of kaolinite in the world.

Resumo: O objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar os indicadores quantitativos utilizados pela CAPES na avaliação do desempenho dos programas de pós-graduação na área de Matemática, no Brasil, referentes ao triênio 2007-2009, verificando a coerência entre eles e os conceitos atribuídos a cada programa. Mais precisamente, objetiva visualizar as diferenças de desempenho dos programas e identificar aqueles indicadores mais discernentes dos conceitos; identificar e evidenciar os agrupamentos dos programas de pós-graduação em Matemática, gerados pela Análise de cluster, considerando o conjunto de indicadores, presentes na Planilha Comparativa da Avaliação Trienal da área de Matemática; e comparar os grupos de programas de pós-graduação, segundo a nota obtida pela avaliação da CAPES, com o resultado do agrupamento obtido por meio da Análise de cluster, a fim de visualizar a participação e suficiência dos indicadores na atribuição final dos conceitos dos programas de pós-graduação. Para a análise univariada, a partir do conjunto de indicadores da Planilha, construíram-se tabelas de contingência e diagramas de caixa, a fim de se observar a relevância e o impacto dos diferentes indicadores utilizados pela CAPES no conceito atribuído aos programas. Para o conjunto dos 26 programas de pós-graduação da área de Matemática, no triênio 2007-2009, foram avaliados os indicadores: década de início dos cursos de Mestrado e Doutorado, número de docentes permanentes, total de teses e dissertações defendidas e média de artigos por docente permanente, segundo a estratificação Qualis. Observou-se, de modo geral, uma tendência de associação entre todos os indicadores analisados e o conceito obtido. Abstract: The objective of this research is to analyze the quantitative indicators used by CAPES on performance evaluation of graduate programs in mathematics in Brazil, for the 2007-2009 triennium, verifying the coherence between them and the concepts assigned to each the program. More precisely, this research aims to view the differences in the performance of the Graduate Programs and identify those indicators most discerning of concepts, identify and highlight the groupings of the Graduate Programs in Mathematics, generated by Cluster analysis, considering the set of indicators present in Spreadsheet of Comparative Triennial Assessment of the area of Mathematics and finally compare groups of graduate programs according to the grade obtained by CAPES, with the result of the grouping obtained by Cluster analysis in order to see the participation and sufficiency of the indicators in the assignment of final concepts of graduate programs. For the univariate analysis, from the set of indicators of the Spreadsheet, we constructed contingency tables and box plots in order to observe the relevance and impact of the different indicators used by CAPES in the attributed concepts to the programs. For the set of the 26 graduate programs Mathematics, in the triennium 2007-2009, were assessed its main indicators, namely the early decade of Masters and PhD courses, number of permanent faculty, total of theses and dissertations defended and average items by permanent faculty, according to the Qualis stratification. It was observed, in a general way, a trend of association between all analyzed indicators and the concept obtained by each program. Today, there are approximately 400 educational institutions training specialists for the culture sector, including up to 100 institutes of culture; however, the statistics of teaching bibliometrics is still unavailable. Insufficient data prevent from providing precise data on Russian information centers and libraries engaged in bibliometric research and practice. Lacking single research program in bibliometrics, and wider, in scientometrics, including the newest methods (ray diagrams) and new vectors (webmetrics, ecatalog library statistics, altmetrics), makes the challenge for teaching bibliometrics in universities. Provided that statistical data are lacking, we could attempt the analysis of scholarly activity by scientific schools that develop, historically, in clusters.

Abstract (sommario):
A number of studies that nowadays would be called bibliometric and scientometric and that were performed before the very terms «bibliometrics» and «scientometrics» had been coined are considered. It is shown that researchers who performed such studies from the XVIII to the first half of the XX century did not see any difference between the assessment of documentary flows in order to obtain the characteristics of science and in order to improve the document availability in libraries, and often they carried out both types of assessment simultaneously within the same study. This historical view on the problem of «metricses» indirectly confirms the methodological fruitfulness of not searching for differences between various «metricses», but of getting them together around bibliometrics, and of searching for fundamentally common features of «metricses».

Bibliometric analysis is an important tool in scientific research designed to explore and analyse a range of scientific data. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the growing importance and relevance of business agility issues in the scientific community. The aim is to provide a brief insight into business agility through bibliometric analysis of articles included in the WOS and Scopus databases. As a result, a comparison of these databases is presented along with a description of the resulting clusters using the software tools VOSviewer and SciMAT. The area of interest in the databases is Business, Economics, Management and Finance in the publication years 1994-2023. The results show that although the databases overlap to some extent, there are some slight differences in terms of bibliometrics or scientometrics. Although the Scopus database had a higher number of publications, the number of keyword occurrences is higher in the database WOS. There are also slight differences in the most numerous keywords. In terms of clusters, the number is the same, but slight differences are also observed. Based on the analysis of the occurrence of keywords, it is possible to note an increased interest in the issue of agility, which is linked to a number of other areas of management. The Scopus database is recommended to study business agility.

This study seeks to examine the variation by field in publication practices in a Portuguese Higher Education Institution (HEI), where both research in Social Sciences and in Hard Sciences is conducted. The intention is to raise the issue of the suitability of bibliometrics for the Professors/researchers’ evaluation considering their areas of research, as well as understanding the sort of use they make of these instruments. Different Bibliometric Databases were managed to analyze the use given to them by all the researchers in this HEI and to find out the main differences in its use according to the researched field of study. The authors discuss the problem of publications by editorial board members in their parent journal with relation to bibliometrics and publication ethics. This issue is of the same nature as self-citedness. However, while self-citedness is classified, its motivation factors are defined, and recommendations are provided for the ethical thresholds, the problem of publishing in parent journals is still awaiting thorough investigation. The authors propose to categorize publishing in the parent journal. The ethical aspects and criteria are discussed, and a new bibliometric index – editorial board-parent journal publications coefficient is proposed to be introduced.

This report examines the various dimensions of global water-related research over the 2012-2017 period, using extensive bibliographic data. The review covers trends in water-related publications and citations, the relative importance of water-related research in the overall body of scientific research, flows of water-related knowledge between countries and the dynamics of water research publishing opportunities. In summary, it shows that: less than 50% of all countries are publishing water-related research, that China and USA are the two top publishers, and that China’s publishing rate has been growing steadily over the study period. More than 70% of water related publications originating in USA are being cited globally, while China’s water research output appears to be primarily internally cited at present. Analysis of the global water knowledge flows suggests that research is hardly addressing a range of regional water challenges. Countries with protracted water problems – for example in infrastructure, environment, agriculture, energy solutions – do not seem to be at the forefront of water research production or knowledge transfer. Instead, global water research is reliant on Western, particularly US-produced, scientific outputs. A disconnect is also observed between the percentage increase in the publication and the number of citations, suggesting low quality or a narrow focus of many publications. Among other factors, this may reflect the pressure on researchers to contribute a certain number of publications per year, or of the progressively increasing role of grey literature in scientific discourse that ‘diverts’ some citation flow. Analysis of the number of research publications per million people suggests that water research does not necessarily emerge as a reaction to water scarcity in a specific country, but may be driven by the traditional economic value of water supply, geopolitical location, a focus on regional development - including cross-border water management - or development aid spending, or globally applicable research in water management. The proportion of water research in the overall research output of a country is small, including for some of the top-publishing countries. The number of water-related journals that create opportunities for publishing water research, has grown dramatically in absolute terms since 2000, and is now close 2100 journals. The metrics used in this report are based on readily available bibliographic data. They can be further focused to better understand a specific thematic domain, geographical region or country, or to analyze a different period. To help accelerate solutions to global and national water challenges that many of these research papers are highlighting, the water research community needs to look beyond the research ‘box’ and identify ways to measure development impact of water research programmes, rather ‘impact’ based solely on academic impact measured in citations. The research findings, learning and knowledge in these research publications needs to be conveyed in a practical way to the real users of this knowledge – stakeholders who are beyond research circles.
