Abstract (sommario):

El propósito fundamental de este trabajo es analizar desde un punto de vista diacrónico un grupo de construcciones formadas sobre la base sustantiva duda. Locuciones como sin duda han experimentado un proceso de construccionalización mediante el que han quedado fijadas como nuevos elementos, a la vez que un proceso de gramaticalización por expansión las lleva a desempeñar su función en el nivel discursivo de la lengua. Con este análisis nos proponemos comprender estos procesos, conocer los distintos estadios por los que han pasado estos elementos y ofrecer un panorama detallado de sus características semánticas, sintácticas, pragmáticas y variacionales.

Abstract (sommario):

Neste artigo é apresentada uma análise sobre o nome próprio Matipó, presente no estado de Minas Gerais. Seguimos uma abordagem linguística que envolve a relação entre a toponímia, a história e a memória social, sob a égide da Toponomástica, ciência linguística que se dedica a estudar a origem e os aspectos da motivação e do significado dos nomes próprios de lugares – os topônimos. Com base nos estudos etnográficos de Barbosa (1951), de Senna (1937), de Oiliam José (1965), de Dick e Seabra (2012) e no modelo taxonômico de classificação toponímica, de Dick (1990a), analisamos os aspectos linguísticos e a origem do topônimo Matipó para chegarmos a uma provável significação, diferente daquela que é comumente difundida por órgãos governamentais e por seus habitantes.

Abstract (sommario):

Este trabalho tem por objetivo analisar a base teórica discutida em trabalhos relacionados ao tema geral Toponímia, bem como de trabalhos voltados para o Ensino. Busca-se investigar quais teóricos são abordados e com que finalidade é feita essa abordagem. Para o processo de seleção, foram utilizadas as bases eletrônicas de dados do Google Acadêmico e o Portal de Periódicos Capes, adotando-se os seguintes descritores: “toponímia”, “léxico”, “ensino” e “cidade”. Sendo que, a partir da busca, selecionou-se para a análise uma amostra com dez artigos científicos publicados no período de 2009 a 2019. Verificou-se que muitos aspectos em torno dessa temática precisam ser mais explorados, a citar como exemplos as bases teóricas de toponimistas brasileiros que fundamentam as pesquisas, assim como as áreas pesquisadas, acentuando a necessidade de mais estudos nessa área. Sendo referência presente na elaboração de todos os trabalhos analisados, dedicou-se, ainda, um breve espaço nesta análise para falar das contribuições da linguista Maria Vicentina do Amaral Dick para o desenvolvimento de pesquisas toponímicas.

El propósito de este texto es abordar la problemática de las inteligencias artificiales y su incidencia en la sociedad contemporánea. Para ello, se realizan lecturas paralelas de las sociedades distópicas creadas por Isaac Asimov y Philip K. Dick. A partir de estas, se identifican algunos rasgos existentes en nuestro contexto inmediato, enfocándonos en tres ejes principales: la sociedad de vigilancia y control tecnológico, el problema de lo natural en los ciber-seres, y la visión del siglo XXI en la ciencia ficción para analizar si esta es ilusoria o, por el contrario, forma parte de nuestra realidad inmediata. Todo esto con el fin de definir al género como un espejo de nuestro futuro, basándonos en la lectura de nuestro presente para interpretar los mundos posibles y el futuro como fuente de reflexión filosófica y tecnológica. En este artículo, analizaremos a grandes rasgos los elementos de la ciencia ficción de Isaac Asimov y Philip K. Dick, enfocándonos en aspectos como la naturalidad de los individuos, las sociedades de control y las líneas que separan lo humano de lo artificial como bases para la reflexión filosófica. A través de este ejercicio, examinaremos diversas obras de ambos autores, tales como El hombre bicentenario (Asimov 2019b), Satisfacción Garantizada (Asimov 2019a), La última pregunta (Asimov 2019a), ¿Sueñan los androides con ovejas eléctricas? (Dick 2017) y El hombre en el castillo (Dick 2021). El objetivo es identificar elementos que nos permitan interpretar el siglo XXI como una obra de ciencia ficción en constante desarrollo.

O objetivo deste artigo é identificar e descrever aspectos psicológicos envolvidos nos processos de nomeação dos nomes de lugares a partir das reflexões de Dick sobre o assunto (1992). Na introdução deste artigo são recuperadas e reunidas as considerações de Dick sobre os aspectos psicológicos envolvidos na nomeação de lugares. Na sequência, suas reflexões são aprofundadas com base em pesquisas recentes da Psicologia Motivacional (HECKHAUSEN; HECKHAUSEN, 2018). Ao final do artigo, fenômenos toponímicos e psicológicos são relacionados entre si na análise de alguns nomes à guisa de ilustração. A corotoponímia é relacionada à motivação por filiação, a antrotoponímia que presta homenagem a figuras políticas, por sua vez, é relacionada às motivações por afiliação e por busca de poder, já os topônimos descritivos da paisagem são analisados como fruto da motivação pragmática, a qual também se encontra também, embora em menor grau, em toda nomeação toponímica, haja vista a função referencial dos nomes de lugares.

Clustering is the unsupervised machine learning process that group data objects into clusters such that objects within the same cluster are highly similar to one another. Every day the quantity of Urdu text is increasing at a high speed on the internet. Grouping Urdu news manually is almost impossible, and there is an utmost need to device a mechanism which cluster Urdu news documents based on their similarity. Clustering Urdu news documents with accuracy is a research issue and it can be solved by using similarity techniques i.e., Jaccard and Dice coefficient, and clustering k-mean algorithm. In this research, the Jaccard and Dice coefficient has been used to find the similarity score of Urdu News documents in python programming language. For the purpose of clustering, the similarity results have been loaded to Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis (WEKA), by using k-mean algorithm the Urdu news documents have been clustered into five clusters. The obtained cluster’s results were evaluated in terms of Accuracy and Mean Square Error (MSE). The Accuracy and MSE of Jaccard was 85% and 44.4%, while the Accuracy and MSE of Dice coefficient was 87% and 35.76%. The experimental result shows that Dice coefficient is better as compared to Jaccard similarity on the basis of Accuracy and MSE.

Abstract (sommario):

This transdisciplinary study argues that the fury of President Trump’s base can be understood as a victim complex, one caused by the erosion of the dominance of white males that existed at the founding of America. The preamble of the Declaration of Independence became an iconic articulation of the American dream, unintentionally establishing a contradiction between the ideas that all people are created equal and that individuals have an unlimited right to pursue happiness. Analysis of Ahab of Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick reveals connections between Ahab’s victim complex and the behavior and attitudes of Trump’s base. Analysis of Ishmael’s survival suggests ways the American dream as articulated in the Declaration of Independence needs to be dreamed forward. His survival through interdependence and an embrace of diversity suggests a way to re-vision the American dream so as to incorporate psychological determinants, including the limitations of the ego, in the understanding of freedom and happiness. Revisioning the individual pursuit of happiness as limited by the common good furthers the dream of equality under the law and could help free white supremacists from their entrapment in a victim complex convincing them of their entitlement to dominate others.

Abstract (sommario):

Instructional design plays an important role in improving the quality of learning and the learning experience of students. But in fact, many universities (especially in the field of Information Technology) have not developed a structured learning design, so that the learning process becomes ineffective. This paper presents a database system learning design model using the Borg and Gall step 1 development model and adapting all stages in the Dick and Carey model. The research consists of four main stages: conducting a preliminary study to find information about the learning product to be developed; develop products based on research findings; conduct field trials on the products developed; and revise products based on test results. The product quality of the developed learning design model is measured from aspects of validity and aspects of practicality. Validity is assessed through expert validation (database system learning material expert, instructional design expert, graphic media expert, and linguist). The measurement results obtained an average value of 5 (on a scale of 1-5), which means that the product of the learning design model developed is included in the valid category. Practicality is measured based on the responses of students and teachers. The results of the practicality measurement obtained an average value of 4.56 (on a scale of 1-5), which means that the product of the learning design model developed is included in the Practically used category

Neste artigo, problematizo a relação entre corpo-território-espiritualidade-linguagem-conhecimento e as políticas de controle dos corpos, no percurso entre a Dica dos Anjos e a Madrinha Dica, no rio Peixe, no povoado de Lagolândia, município de Pirenópolis, Goiás. Discuto o processo de perseguição política e de racismo religioso à líder espiritual e política Madrinha Dica, em que os padres redentoristas usam imagens de controle para incitar o ódio dos fiéis contra Dica. Com base nisso, o objetivo da discussão é identificar e interrogar as estratégias de atuação do racismo religioso, geo-ontoepistemologicamente marcado e propor maneiras de interromper a atuação da colonialidade do poder-saber-ser sobre o corpo socialmente racializado. A metodologia adotada é a busca de insurgências de sentidos ocultados, por meio de narrativas da trajetória de Dica, para o estabelecimento de conflitos de percepção e o tensionamento da narrativa única sobre mulheres negras.

Segmentation of the prostate gland from magnetic resonance images is rapidly becoming a standard of care in prostate cancer radiotherapy treatment planning. Automating this process has the potential to improve accuracy and efficiency. However, the performance and accuracy of deep learning models varies depending on the design and optimal tuning of the hyper-parameters. In this study, we examine the effect of loss functions on the performance of deep-learning-based prostate segmentation models. A U-Net model for prostate segmentation using T2-weighted images from a local dataset was trained and performance compared when using nine different loss functions, including: Binary Cross-Entropy (BCE), Intersection over Union (IoU), Dice, BCE and Dice (BCE + Dice), weighted BCE and Dice (W (BCE + Dice)), Focal, Tversky, Focal Tversky, and Surface loss functions. Model outputs were compared using several metrics on a five-fold cross-validation set. Ranking of model performance was found to be dependent on the metric used to measure performance, but in general, W (BCE + Dice) and Focal Tversky performed well for all metrics (whole gland Dice similarity coefficient (DSC): 0.71 and 0.74; 95HD: 6.66 and 7.42; Ravid 0.05 and 0.18, respectively) and Surface loss generally ranked lowest (DSC: 0.40; 95HD: 13.64; Ravid −0.09). When comparing the performance of the models for the mid-gland, apex, and base parts of the prostate gland, the models’ performance was lower for the apex and base compared to the mid-gland. In conclusion, we have demonstrated that the performance of a deep learning model for prostate segmentation can be affected by choice of loss function. For prostate segmentation, it would appear that compound loss functions generally outperform singles loss functions such as Surface loss.

O texto trata de Ricardo Guilherme Dicke, com o objetivo de fazer aproximações estéticas e temáticas entre sua obra literária e sua obra em telas. Um preâmbulo teórico destaca aspectos da estética dickeana, fundada no realismo grotesco; em seguida, faz-se breve análise das telas, cujos temas, de alguma forma, estão conectados com a literatura. Subjaz ao texto a hipótese de que o sublime e o grotesco constituem forças que ampliam a potência criadora de Ricardo Guilherme Dicke. Bakhtin (1996), Hugo (2010), Kant (2015) estão na base teórica do artigo, que pretende mostrar que o universo ficcional de Dicke insere-se em um arco narrativo que envolve tradição e disrupção.

Abstract (sommario):

This paper analyzes the translation of the novel called “Do androids dream of electric sheep?” by Philip K. Dick into Russian. Current paper is the third part of a bigger research and deals particularly with the translation of some proper names (especially so called charactonyms) found in the novel. The paper provides the brief review of basic ways of translation of proper names (such as transcription and transliteration), as well as analysis of their advantages and disadvantages in each particular situation. The results of the research are used to draw a conclusion that various misrepresentations of the original proper names occurred because of the obvious lack of the translator’s professional knowledge.

Este trabalho discute aspectos da contribuição vocabular ameríndia em designativos toponímicos que nomeiam acidentes físicos e humanos da zona rural da microrregião de Paranaíba/MS. O corpus analisado foi extraído do Sistema de Dados do ATEMS (Atlas Toponímico do estado de Mato Grosso do Sul), complementado por dados oficiais do IBGE/2010. A análise dos dados foi orientada pelo modelo teórico-metodológico de Dick (1990; 1992). Para as questões de natureza etimológica e de língua de origem dos topônimos, foram consultadas obras lexicográficas de línguas indígenas, tais como Sampaio (1928); Tibiriçá (1985; 1989); Navarro (2013) e Cunha (1999). Os resultados confirmam que a toponímia indígena examinada evidencia aspectos da influência de fatores de natureza física na nomeação dos acidentes geográficos. Em relação à língua de origem dos topônimos os dados evidenciaram a predominância do português e uma presença significativa de topônimos oriundos de línguas indígenas, com maior incidência do Tupi.

Abstract (sommario):

Snacks are foods that can be eaten instead of, or between meals. They are convenient because they are ready for consumption. The use of a cereal-legume mixture (corn gritz and chocho) gives the product a balance of amino acids that improves its nutritional value. The objective of the work was to prepare an expanded salty snack ready for consumption, made from corn gritz and debittered lupine through the extrusion process. Two factors were studied, the hole diameter of the dice (4 and 5 mm) and the composition of the lupine-maize mixture (80% maize - 20% lupine and 75% maize - 25% lupine). The mixture of 25% lupine and 75% corn, extruded with dice with a hole diameter of 4 mm, made it possible to obtain extrudates with the lowest apparent density, the highest protein content and the lowest humidity, also having a good acceptance among potential consumers.

The study objective is to develop a motivation-based training model in household waste management which will result in the development of a conceptual model, the development of a procedural model, and the development of a physical model. Research and development methods (R D), a combination of the Borg and Gall development model, the Dick and Carey learning model, and the Keller Motivation Model. The instrument is validated by the validator, then the instrument that has been validated will be used for the feasibility of the product to be tested by experts consisting of instructional design experts, curriculum experts, training material experts, and instructional media experts for the feasibility of research products. Then the product was tested on several prospective trainers through one-to-one trials, small group, and field trials. The results of research by instructional design experts, training material experts, curriculum experts, and instructional media experts state that it is very good and feasible to use motivation-based household waste management training with the name SPIRIT Training Model to increase the motivation of prospective trainers in household waste management training activities so that can reduce household waste in Indonesia.

Los medios colaborativos pueden potencialmente contribuir a la resiliencia ciudadana. ¿Pero recurren hoy a ellos sus públicos objetivos? ¿Y qué nos dice ese recurrir acerca de qué significa informarse actualmente? A partir de entrevistas cualitativas realizadas con mujeres en Argentina en 2021-2022, indago a qué formas de informarse tienen acceso, qué medios adoptan o rechazan, y cómo se mantienen al tanto acerca de las cuestiones que las afectan en particular. El análisis demuestra que informarse cotidianamente les resulta problemático en diversos sentidos. Para estar al tanto de las cuestiones que las afectan en particular, recurren a prácticas diferentes: se relacionan entre sí, acuden a medios colaborativos que trabajan temáticas feministas, y siguen a periodistas mujeres reconocidas por su atención a esas cuestiones. El artículo aporta elementos para repensar la información con perspectiva de género y el rol de los medios colaborativos en dietas informativas que nutran la resiliencia ciudadana.

Este artículo discute una de las clases reconocidas de prefijos en español, los prefijos adjetivales. Esta clase muestra propiedades que no encajan con el resto de los prefijos, tanto en su fonología como en su semántica. Se argumenta que la clase es heterogénea y deben distinguirse en ella al menos cuatro subtipos de elementos. Sus propiedades excepcionales, junto a su ordenamiento lineal y su selección categorial, se siguen naturalmente si se consideran especificadores de proyecciones funcionales que forman parte de la secuencia extendida de una base nominal.

O artigo apresenta análise entre direito e arte como modo de pensar, estudar e produzir cientificamente sobre ciências jurídicas e sociais. O debate ocorre em torno da ficção intitulada “The minority report” escrito em 1956 por Philip Kindred Dick que se tornou o filme “Minority Report” em 2002. Toma-se como ponto de partida a criminologia e dogmática penal para analisar as bases da ficção e suas cenas, destacando os principais temas apresentados pelo autor e comparando-o com o direito penal brasileiro. Foi utilizado o método hipotético-dedutivo, com pesquisa exploratória e bibliográfica, de abordagem predominantemente qualitativa.

Para ello, hemos tomado como base metodológica principal el estudio sobre el espacio de Gastón Bachelard, Poética del espacio, estableciendo una conexión entre la interacción de los personajes con el espacio y la construcción de la casa. Demostraremos la relación existente entre el cambio de etapa vital (infancia, adolescencia y madurez), la preservación de la memoria y la mutación del espacio. Los resultados serían aplicables a otras obras de la autora.

This study aimes to describe the validity, practicality and effectiveness of the device learning inquiry models that are integrated with the concept maps strategy in an effort to improve aspects of knowledge and science process skills of students SMAN 1 North Sangatta on titration acid base topic. Learning materials developed include: lesson plans, student worksheet, student book, and achievement test. This design research is developmented research using Dick & Carey with the tryout of the teaching materials used one group pre test and post test design. The analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative and qualitative descriptive. the results showed that (1) validation leson plans quite well category, student worksheet , and student book good enough category, item test is generally valid, and legibility of student book 76% responded positively legibility, student worksheet 82% responded positively (2) lesson plans category quite well, student activities categorized well, and constraints experienced during the study include: the implementation of the Teaching and learning Activities require a long time, there are students who break the tool and less active at the meeting to two, (3) student response categorized excellent learning, mastery of the knowledge aspect of 89.47%, completeness aspect of science process skills 86.84%. Students experiencing learning outcome aspects of knowledge 84,21% higher category. Based on the result of the development of chemistry learning package main material acid base titration using the inquiry model integrated with concept maps strategy produced was feasible so it can be used in learning to improve student learning outcomes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan perangkat pembelajaran model pembelajaran inkuiri yang diintegrasikan dengan strategi peta konsep dalam upaya untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar aspek pengetahuan, dan aspek keterampilan proses sains siswa SMAN 1 Sangatta Utara pada materi pokok titrasi asam basa. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian desain perangkat pembelajaran. Perangkat pembelajaran yang didesainkan, meliputi: RPP, LKS, BAS, danTHB, dengan menggunakan model desain perangkat Dick & Carey serta rancangan uji coba perangkat yang digunakan adalah One Group Pre-test and Post-test Design. Teknik analisis yang dikembangkan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) validasi RPP berkategori sangat baik, validasi LKS dan BAS berkategori baik, serta validasi soal tes berkategori valid, keterbacaan BAS 82% merespon positif dan keterbacaan LKS 76% merespon positif (2) Keterlaksanaan RPP berkategori sangat baik, aktivitas siswa berkategori sangat baik, kendala-kendala yang dialami pada saat penelitian, meliputi: pelaksanaan KBM memerlukan waktu yang lama, ada siswa yang memecahkan alat, dan kurang aktif dalam praktek pada pertemuan ke dua (3) respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran berkategori sangat baik, ketuntasan aspek pengetahuan 89,47% dan ketuntasan aspek keterampilan proses sains 86,84%. Siswa mengalami peningkatan hasil belajar aspek pengetahuan 84,21% berkategori tinggi, dan 15,79% berkategori sedang, sedangkan untuk aspek keterampilan proses sains 42,11% berkategori tinggi dan 57,89% berkategori sedang. Berdasarkan temuan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran kimia materi pokok titrasi asam basa menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri yang diintegrasikan dengan strategi peta konsep layak dan dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

En las últimas cuatro décadas, las organizaciones de la salud han reconocido que la rehabilitación cardíaca es un elemento esencial para la recuperación de pacientes con enfermedades cardiovasculares.Objetivo. Realizar un análisis de la evidencia sobre la implementación de un programa de rehabilitación cardiaca, basado en ejercicio físico, en una población pediátrica con alteraciones congénitas cardiacas.Materiales y métodos. Se buscó y analizó la evidencia disponible de programas de rehabilitación cardiaca, basada en ejercicio físico, en pacientes pediátricos con alteraciones congénitas. Para la búsqueda se emplearon los términos MeSH: “Rehabilitation”, “Exercise”, “Resistance Training” y “Pediatrics” y se hizo revisión en las bases de datos Ebsco, Pedro, Hinari, Elsevier, Science Direct, Springer y Medline.Resultados. Se encontró que la implementación de un programa de rehabilitación cardiaca en población pediátrica tiene resultados significativos en la calidad de vida de estos pacientes, pero necesita de parámetros como evaluación, protocolo de rehabilitación, prescripción del ejercicio físico y evaluación de la calidad de vida.Conclusiones. Es necesario crear un protocolo estandarizado y validado de rehabilitación cardiaca, basada en ejercicio físico, para la población pediátrica con enfermedades cardiacas congénitas.

Las construcciones asociadas a la modalidad deóntica suponen una cuestión compleja en la investigación y la enseñanza de la gramática española. En este trabajo se lleva a cabo un análisis de sus usos en un corpus de prensa y radio de la ciudad de Salamanca (España). Se calcula la distribución cuantitativa de las construcciones según varios factores potencialmente relevantes: persona gramatical y animacidad del sujeto, semántica y aspecto verbal, y modo de comunicación. Ello proporciona las bases para un análisis cualitativo que permite caracterizar los usos con respecto a dos continua discursivo-cognitivos: la modalidad y el punto de vista. El significado inherente a cada construcción resulta ser inseparable de su distribución contextual y de sus posibilidades pragmáticas.

The application without knowledge of an ontological type allows updating considerably quality of problem solutions in natural language processing. A number of researchers use Wikipedia as a basis for the formation of such resources. This paper reports the formalization method of Wikipedia structures and linguistic ontology used in the developed by the authors system of the linguistic ontology formation a specified subject field from Wikipedia. The papers and references connecting them serve a purpose for formation of a weighted graph of ontology to the graph nodes correspond notions, and to the ribs of graph – fuzzy semantic relations between them. The references obtain different weights depending on entering this or that information unit on a page. By a graph of relations it is possible to estimate numerically the degree of semantic proximity of two arbitrary concepts. For this purpose it is possible to use different measures of semantic proximity. Recursive measures possess considerable computational complexity at insignificant improvement of quality in test problem solution in comparison with nonrecursive local measures of the Dice measure type that is unacceptable for the ontology large enough. From these considerations the Dice weighted measure is chosen as a basic one for the system under development.

To train an automatic brain tumor segmentation model, a large amount of data is required. In this paper, we proposed a strategy to overcome the limited amount of clinically collected magnetic resonance image (MRI) data regarding meningiomas by pre-training a model using a larger public dataset of MRIs of gliomas and augmenting our meningioma training set with normal brain MRIs. Pre-operative MRIs of 91 meningioma patients (171 MRIs) and 10 non-meningioma patients (normal brains) were collected between 2016 and 2019. Three-dimensional (3D) U-Net was used as the base architecture. The model was pre-trained with BraTS 2019 data, then fine-tuned with our datasets consisting of 154 meningioma MRIs and 10 normal brain MRIs. To increase the utility of the normal brain MRIs, a novel balanced Dice loss (BDL) function was used instead of the conventional soft Dice loss function. The model performance was evaluated using the Dice scores across the remaining 17 meningioma MRIs. The segmentation performance of the model was sequentially improved via the pre-training and inclusion of normal brain images. The Dice scores improved from 0.72 to 0.76 when the model was pre-trained. The inclusion of normal brain MRIs to fine-tune the model improved the Dice score; it increased to 0.79. When employing BDL as the loss function, the Dice score reached 0.84. The proposed learning strategy for U-net showed potential for use in segmenting meningioma lesions.

O presente artigo estuda o conto Equipe de Ajuste (Adjustment Team), escrito em 1954 por Philip K. Dick, e sua transposição para o filme Os Agentes do Destino (The Adjustment Bureau), de 2011, escrito e dirigido por George Nolfi. No conto, Ed Fletcher e os demais personagens vivenciam seu cotidiano normalmente até que, de repente, por uma falha do “Plano”, Fletcher acaba vendo algo proibido que tem lugar na construção da chamada vida real, o que a coloca em xeque. Todo o conto trabalha com imagens presentes em nosso imaginário de um mundo organizado e perfeito com base numa construção formulada através dos desígnios divinos. Tal descoberta é pontuada por questões filosóficas como fé e livre-arbítrio, em oposição ao “Plano” ou à predestinação. Na narrativa fílmica, por sua vez, o par romântico tem sua realidade manipulada pelos “agentes do destino”, que tentam evitar o relacionamento entre um político promissor e uma bailarina, atuando como intermediários que manipulam as ações humanas com o objetivo de concretizar o “Plano” já estabelecido.

Este trabalho discute a análise dos designativos dos 399 municípios do Estado do Paraná. A Toponímia, ramo da Onomástica, possui como eixo central o topônimo (nome próprio de lugar), que é o signo linguístico na função de indicador ou identificador de um espaço (acidente) geográfico. Busca-se correlacionar esses designativos com a formação étnica da população e com as diferentes fases da ocupação e colonização do Estado. A análise dos dados foi orientada por princípios teórico-metodológicos da Toponímia fundamentalmente de Dick (1990a; 1990b). A pesquisa revelou que, nos topônimos paranaenses, atingiram a maior produtividade os antropotopônimos, hagiotopônimos e os fitotopônimos. Os resultados apontaram, ainda, que no conjunto predominaram topônimos de base linguística portuguesa e de estrutura formal simples.

Introducción: la medicina veterinaria, es un campo de conocimiento que integra diversas áreas profesionales para su desarrollo, es así como se ha reportado evidencia en relación a la participación de fisioterapeutas en procesos de rehabilitación de animales que presentan algún tipo de patología que afecte su funcionalidad. Objetivo: realizar una revisión de la literatura con relación a las intervenciones fisioterapéuticas realizadas en perros y gatos con alteraciones osteomusculares y neuromusculares. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó una revisión de la literatura, búsqueda en bases de datos como: Ebsco, Pedro, Hinari, Elsevier, Science Direct, Springer y Medline que contemplaran los siguientes criterios de inclusión: estudios publicados del año 2000 al 2016, literatura con los siguientes términos DeCS: dogs, cats, veterinary medicine, rehabilitation, animals. Resultados: se obtuvo información en relación a la intervención fisioterapéutica en perros y gatos, se ha reportado el uso de agentes físicos para el tratamiento de lesiones agudas a través de modalidades como crioterapia, termoterapia, ultrasonido y electroestimulación ; el uso de estos agentes físicos ayuda al manejo de dolor, disminución del edema, aumento del rango movimiento y reducción de la espasticidad, además de eso se reporta que el ejercicio terapéutico y terapia manual tienen efectos significativos en el retorno a las actividades de la vida diaria de estos animales. Conclusiones: la fisioterapia en animales está indicada para procesos agudos y crónicos como lesiones osteomusculares y neuromusculares, esta se realiza a través de medios físicos y ejercicio terapéutico enfocándose en actividades funcionales de movimiento.

Este trabalho analisa processos de formação de palavras por composição evidenciados na estrutura morfológica de topônimos pertencentes à mesorregião Sudoeste do Mato Grosso do Sul, com destaque para designativos cujos elementos de origem foram unidos por um processo de soldadura, uma hipótese de trabalho ainda em processo de construção. Trata-se de um recorte de uma pesquisa mais ampla que tem como objeto de estudo a toponímia rural de acidentes físicos de base indígena. Os resultados dos dados discutidos neste trabalho evidenciam um número representativo de unidades lexicais que, em sua configuração sincrônica, são formas simples, mas o estudo etimológico evidencia a presença de uma estrutura composta de base. Dessa forma, discute-se, neste trabalho, o grau de vitalidade de topônimos monolexicais de origem poliléxica e busca-se atestar a hipótese da soldadura como uma característica da toponímia indígena na região estudada. Em termos teóricos, o estudo orienta-se, fundamentalmente, em Rodrigues (1951), Dick (1992) e Gross (1996).

Postharvest treatments designed to enhance the vase life of cut Gloriosa rothschildiana flowers were tested. Vase life was significantly extended by the germicides 8-HQC (250 mg·liter-1), DICA (50 mg·liter-1), and Physan-20 (50 mg·liter-1). Germicides acted primarily by improving solution uptake. Sucrose, either as a continuous treatment (of 2% or 5% w/v), or as a 24-hour pulse (20%), significantly enhanced vase life, primarily by enhancing the development of immature buds and delaying senescence in open flowers. Flowers stored at 1C developed signs of chilling injury within 3 days, but chilling symptoms were not displayed in stems stored at 10C for 10 days. Flowers were not affected when exposed to 50 μl ethylene/liter for 24 hours. Transport and short-term storage in sealed, air-filled bags to protect the flowers from physical damage resulted in some atmosphere modification within the bags. Fungal growth occurred when flowers were kept in air-tilled bags for more than 6 days, resulting in a reduction in vase life. Chemical names used: 8-hydroxyquinoline citrate (8-HQC); sodium dichloroisocyanuric acid (DICA); n-alkyl dimethyl ethylbenzyl ammonium chloride (Phyrsan-20).

This article presents an excerpt from a Master's research which had as general objective investigating the perceptions of students from a public school about the use of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) inside and outside the school context. The research had a qualitative approach with an explanatory descriptive design, using a questionnaire with opened and closed questions for data collection. Seventy students from the 9th year of Elementary School, from morning and afternoon periods, of a public school, participated in the research. The frequencies and percentages resulting from closed questions and the categories of opened questions were analyzed using a theoretical reference on the advances of DICT, cyberspace and cyberculture, the characterization of generations and their relationship with technologies, the Common National Curriculum Base (CNCB), the DICT and the school. The results reveal that the research participants, young people of Generation Z, who have been living with technologies since they were born, present characteristics of information consumers, using the technologies as reproduction tools, contrary to what CNCB´s fifth competence indicates, namely, that students use and create DTIC to communicate, access and disseminate information, produce knowledge and solve problems. Understanding young people´s perceptions about the use of DICT may contribute to school actions that may favour the development of this competence.

Ilustra-se, neste estudo, a tendência, na toponímia brasileira, de considerar os recursos vegetais como a fonte de maior inspiração para a nomeação de acidentes humanos, tomando por base os designativos dos seguintes municípios do estado da Bahia: Angical, Buritirama, Camaçari, Cansanção, Ibirapitanga, Juazeiro, Mucugê, Pau Brasil, Quixabeira, Umburanas e Xique-Xique. A escolha desses topônimos relaciona-se ao fato de apresentarem uma forte relação entre a espécie vegetal e o bioma onde o município se insere. Para a análise do corpus, foram utilizados os pressupostos da taxionomia proposta por Dick (1990) para um trabalho toponímico, com o propósito de demonstrar que, ao se deslocar do sistema lexical e assumir caráter denominativo, um signo comum e arbitrário de língua conecta-se de forma permanente ao lugar representado.

Una ojeada rápida a la manera como en las últimas décadas los tres niveles administrativos han venido ocupándose de las funciones que debe atender y los servicios que debe prestar al estado y repartiéndose los recursos que a título tributario o por cualquier otro concepto se asignen al sector público, permite comprobar fácilmente que la Nación, en detrimento de los departamentos y municipios, ha asumido indiscriminadamente toda clase de funciones – muchas de ellas de claro sabor regional y local –, y se ha apropiado de los ingresos que dice necesitar para tal cúmulo de tareas. En eso consiste la centralización. Obviamente se acompaña de la facultad para decidir por otros. Este trabajo parte del estudio de la llamada primera generación de vanguardia literaria nacional. Desde una mirada crítica, se pretende abordar la obrade uno de los escritores menos estudiados de dicha generación, el poeta y dramaturgo Alfredo Sancho. El presente análisis plantea la necesidad de rescatar del olvido a este tipo de figuras que, por motivos políticos y/o personales, son dejados por fuera de la historia canónica de la literatura costarricense. Asimismo, propone un acercamiento al poema SE DICE MERENJUNJIA del libro Cantera Bruta, tomando como base algunos elementos de análisis crítico de López-Casanova, mediante los cuales es posible establecer una serie de conexiones entre la obra de Sancho y diferentes movimientos de vanguardia de la época.

Abstract Integrated assessment models (IAMs) are the main tools for combining physical and economic analyses to develop and assess climate change policy. Policy makers have relied heavily on three IAMs in particular—Dynamic Integrated model of Climate and the Economy (DICE), The Climate Framework for Uncertainty, Negotiation and Distribution (FUND), and Policy Analysis for the Greenhouse Effect (PAGE)—when trying to balance the benefits and costs of climate action. Unpacking the physics of these IAMs accomplishes four things. First, it reveals how the physics of these IAMs differ and the extent to which those differences give rise to different visions of the human and economic costs of climate change. Second, it makes these IAMs more accessible to the scientific community and thereby invites further physical expertise into the IAM community so that economic assessments of climate change can better reflect the latest physical understanding of the climate system. Third, it increases the visibility of the link between the physical sciences and the outcomes of policy assessments so that the scientific community can focus more sharply on those unresolved questions that loom largest in policy assessments. And finally, in making explicit the link between these IAMs and the underlying physical models, one gains the ability to translate between IAMs using a common physical language. This translation key will allow multimodel policy assessments to run all three models with physically comparable baseline scenarios, enabling the economic sources of uncertainty to be isolated and facilitating a more informed debate about the most appropriate mitigation pathway.

Este artículo explora el tratamiento informativo de la infografía de la prensa internacional para emprender de manera eficaz procesos de comunicación y divulgación de los hechos relativos a la Ciencia y Tecnología (CyT). La integración de un método de análisis de contenido, aplicado a una muestra seleccionada de mejores prácticas en materia de infografía de periódicos y revistas que han recibido reconocimiento internacional a través de los premios Malofiej (N=149), fueron codificadas y analizadas para identificar características y patrones detallados con base a tres ejes de estudio: el planteamiento informativo (¿qué se dice?), los objetos gráficos y su correspondencia (¿cómo se dice?) y la función que desempeñan los infográficos (¿para qué se dice?). Los resultados indican que estas piezas informativas emplean distintos planteamientos informativos que reflejan en sus mensajes, los cuales conllevan al uso particular de determinados recursos de expresión (objetos gráficos), desempeñando de manera conjunta, diversas funciones comunicativas por parte del emisor con respecto al público al que se dirige; lo anterior, llevó a la conformación y descripción de tres modelos de infografía científica de prensa.

To establish infection, enteric pathogens integrate environmental cues to navigate the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and precisely control expression of virulence determinants. During passage through the GIT, pathogens encounter relatively high levels of oxygen in the small intestine before transit to the oxygen-limited environment of the colon. However, how bacterial pathogens sense oxygen availability and coordinate expression of virulence traits is not resolved. Here, we demonstrate that enterohemorrhagicEscherichia coliO157:H7 (EHEC) regulates virulence via the oxygen-responsive small RNA DicF. Under oxygen-limited conditions, DicF enhances global expression of the EHEC type three secretion system, which is a key virulence factor required for host colonization, through the transcriptional activator PchA. Mechanistically, thepchAcoding sequence (CDS) base pairs with the 5′ untranslated region of the mRNA to sequester the ribosome binding site (RBS) and inhibit translation. DicF disruptspchA cis-interactions by binding to thepchACDS, thereby unmasking thepchARBS and promoting PchA expression. These findings uncover a feed-forward regulatory pathway that involves distinctive mechanisms of RNA-based regulation and that provides spatiotemporal control of EHEC virulence.

Medical image segmentation is a widely used task in medical image processing. It allows us to receive the location and size of the required instance. Several critical factors should be considered. First, the model should provide an accurate prediction of the mask. Second, the model should not require a lot of computational resources. Finally, the distribution between the false positive and false negative predictions should be considered. We provide the comparative analysis between four deep learning models, base U-Net and its extension U-Net++, TranUNet, and Swin-UNet for lung X-ray segmentation based on trainable parameters, DICE, IoU, Hausdorff Distance, Precision and Recall. CNN models with the smallest number of parameters show the highest DICE and IoU scores than their descendants on the limited-size dataset. Based on the experiment results provided in the article U-Nethas maximum DICE, IoU, and precision. It makes the model the most appropriate for medical image segmentation. SwinU-Net is the model with minimum Hausdorff Distance. U-Net++ has the maximum Recall.

Este trabalho discute resultados parciais da pesquisa em desenvolvimento que tem como objetivo mais amplo descrever e analisar a toponímia rural de acidentes humanos do Mato Grosso do Sul em termos motivação e de estrutura linguística. Neste artigo examinam-se topônimos compostos que nomeiam fazendas localizadas na mesorregião Centro-Norte do Estado do Mato Grosso de Sul, que abrange as microrregiões do Alto Taquari e de Campo Grande, com 16 municípios. O corpus relativo a essa área geográfica extraídos do Sistema de Dados do Projeto Atems[1] e dos mapas oficiais do IBGE escala 1:100.000 (2010) totalizou 1.113 designativos que foram analisados, segundo a motivação, seguindo o modelo taxionômico de Dick (1992, p. 31-34), e conforme os constituintes sintáticos[2] dos topônimos compostos com base em Neves (2000). Os resultados do estudo mostraram que os nomes de fazendas de estrutura composta evidenciam predominantemente as seguintes estruturas dos sintagmas: (Det. Num. + SN) “Dois Irmãos”; (SN+SN) “Maria Augusta”; (SN+ SA) “Terra forte”. Em termos de motivação, dentre as taxionomias de natureza física predominaram os hidrotopônimos, o que denota a influência do ambiente físico na nomeação das propriedades rurais, enquanto entre as taxionomias de natureza antropocultural destacaram-se os nomes de cunho religioso, os hagiotopônimos, atestando, assim, que o ambiente social e cultural do grupo, como a religiosidade reflete-se na nomeação de fazendas da região estudada. Para o estudo utilizam-se como referencial teórico, fundamentalmente, as contribuições de Dick (1990; 1992; 1997; 1998; 1999); de Sapir (1961) e de Neves (2000).

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a rare tumor subpopulation with high differentiation, proliferative and tumorigenic potential compared to the remaining tumor population. CSCs were first discovered by Bonnet and Dick in 1997 in acute myeloid leukemia. The identification and isolation of these cells in this pioneering study were carried out through the flow cytometry, exploiting the presence of specific cell surface molecular markers (CD34+/CD38−). In the following years, different strategies and projects have been developed for the study of CSCs, which are basically divided into surface markers assays and functional assays; some of these techniques also allow working with a cellular model that better mimics the tumor architecture. The purpose of this mini review is to summarize and briefly describe all the current methods used for the identification, isolation and enrichment of CSCs, describing, where possible, the molecular basis, the advantages and disadvantages of each technique with a particular focus on those that offer a three-dimensional culture.
