Abstract (sommario):
This study adopted a multiple case-study approach to investigate incidents, their impacts on performance, and revenues in the telecommunications sector using data from Ghana. The study used open-ended qualitative interviews and document review methods. The study performed a thematic analysis with the Atlas TI software program to analyse the qualitative dataset. The findings resulted in a model dubbed the “Telecommunications Sector Incidents Framework”, which reveals that faulty hardware, end-of-system life, cell site congestion, power failure, microwave link failure, fibre failure, and Wi-Fi disconnection are among the incidents prevalent in the telecommunications sector. The framework also reveals that the incidents occur frequently, resulting in an average revenue loss of GH₵2 to 3 million ($182K to $273K) per month. Again, it reveals that employees become demoralized due to a lack of work-life balance, sleepless nights, frustrations, and undue pressure, which affects their productivity levels. With this framework, mobile network operators (MNOs) could get a better understanding of the incidents to keep their occurrences to a manageable level, create an exceptional customer experience by reducing churn, and increase revenues.

Abstract (sommario):
Study purpose. Physical inactivity among school students was an existing health issue over the past decade. This became more alarming when the world was hit by the COVID–19 pandemic. Movement restriction that results temporary school closure significantly affect students’ physical activity participation. Therefore, strategies and practices to improve active play engagement as well as to counteract its negative health-related effects on students were widely implemented by teachers and administrators in school upon its re-opening. Numerous articles have been published on the effectiveness of school-based interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic, but there is still a lack of a review paper that deals with the identification of patterns and trends about school practices in this area. Hence, this paper intends to generate impressions and identify concepts within the published articles during 2021 to 2023. Materials and methods. Selected articles for this study were collected from the following databases: SCOPUS, Sage, ProQuest, Academic Search complete, Science Direct. Computer-assisted qualitative data analysis (ATLAS ti. 23) guided the comprehensiveness of this review. Study findings were generated and presented through quantitative and qualitative lenses. Results. Four central themes were identified: 1) Alternative Physical Education – modifying traditional physical education subject; 2) Physical literacy focus – approach anchored to multi-dimensional foundation in physical activity engagement 3) Web-based intervention – virtual and cyberspace approach and 4) Needs–based intervention – focusing on integration of participants’ attributes and specifically designed program. Conclusions. The structure of strategies conducted by schools were greatly affected by the current community health status. Findings of this study will serve as a reference for designing future intervention approach to address the sedentary lifestyles of young populations associated to specific community health and other related issues.

Abstract. This work is part of a broader study of educational activity by university teachers after the implementation of the EHEA. This research is funded by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Scientific Policy UCM (call for proposals 210-GR35/10). The present contribution focuses on the comparative analysis of assessment procedures used by university faculty teaching at different degree levels. We believe that assessment is the key to understanding teachers’ beliefs with regard to the teaching-learning process. The methodology used was the discussion group. The sample included two groups of teachers who teach degree programs for Elementary School Teachers and master’s programs for Secondary School Teachers at public universities in Madrid: Complutense, Autónoma and Alcalá de Henares. Data processing was performed by way of content analysis using the Atlas-ti 0.5 computer application, which helps create the conceptual network for the categories obtained from the participants’ responses. The two groups of teachers spoke about the two basic types of assessment: a) learning-process, b) results. In the case of learning process assessment, both groups feel that developing portfolios and co assessment are important, though the Primary school group also points to self-assessment while the Secondary school group favours standards-based assessment. For results-based assessment Secondary school teachers only believe in assessing homework, but the Primary school group also include tests. In short, both Primary and Secondary school teachers believe in the learning process approach, but this belief is stronger for Secondary school teachers. Keywords: assessment, university faculty, teacher training, discussion group. Abstract (sommario):
Abstract The objective of this research is to interpret the experience of parents and, preschool and elementary school teachers regarding elementary school students' education in the new modality from which the curriculum was developed, facing the challenges encountered by tutors in their new role as teachers at home during the COVID-19 confinement. The study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were obtained from in-depth interviews applied to 21 preschool and elementary school teachers and 56 parents. Data analysis was performed with ATLAS.ti software. The results indicate that parents find it difficult to offer pedagogical support to their children, so they demand greater pedagogical support and preparation by teachers, which implies changes in the organization of the school and adaptation of the curriculum to the characteristics of the environment and the educational needs of their students. In this modality, teachers replicate the curriculum, consequently students are unmotivated to learn since the study program is not responsive to their interests and needs.

Abstract (sommario):
<i>Background</i>: Cervical cancer is the most common cause of morbidity and death among female cancer patients globally, particularly in poor nations like Ethiopia. It is a preventable, non-communicable disease of public health relevance. In Ethiopia, women's acceptance of the services for cervical cancer screening and treatment is low and poorly recorded. The goal of the current study is to investigate the obstacles that HIV-positive women face while trying to use cervical cancer screening. <i>Objective</i>: To investigate cervical cancer screening barriers among HIV positive women at Yekatit 12 Hospital Medical College, Ethiopia, 2021. <i>Methods</i>: Between April and June of 2021, a qualitative study was carried out with women who tested positive for HIV and were enrolled in the ART clinic at Yekatit 12 Hospital Medical College. At the time of the study, HIV-positive women and medical professionals were purposefully chosen from an ART clinic. In all, 14 patients and 9 healthcare professionals participated in the study. A schedule for in-depth interviews were used to gather data. Analysis was done by using atlas ti computer software. <i>Result</i>: The risk factors and symptoms of cervical cancer were not well known to the respondents. Women have identified several factors that impact their use of cervical screening: inadequate knowledge of the significance of screenings, perceptions of the seriousness of cervical cancer, the separation of the screening location from ART, having conflicting concerns, and emotional barriers like anxiety about a positive result, embarrassment, and shame anticipation. These same problems were recognized by healthcare professionals as obstacles to cervical screening. <i>Conclusion</i>: This study offers extensive data on the various complex reasons why women do not participate in cervical cancer screening programs. Consequently, it is crucial to develop interventions that can address and reduce these barriers.

In a number of works of art, I have taken an interest in insects, bookworms that eat books, electronics as anatomy and clever robots whose actions in a way resemble the apparently primitive abilities of insects. This text has its starting point in two works of art, Eaten Books and Atlas of AInsects. In the artworks, I am interested in insect anatomy and insects as symbols of decay, survival, extinction, death and post humanity. The text is originally from an artistic lecture about my work with insects and coding, and is based on a reading from within the computer program Eaten Books. Abstract (sommario):
Modern versions of Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis Software (CAQDAS) are enabling the analysis of audio sound files instead of relying solely on text-based analysis. Along with other developments in computer technologies such as the proliferation of digital recording devices and the potential for using streamed media in online academic publication, this innovation is increasing the possibilities of systematically using media-rich, naturalistic data in place of transcribed ‘de-naturalised’ forms. This paper reports on a project assessing online learning materials that used Atlas.ti software to analyse sound files, and it describes the problems faced in gathering, analysing and using this data for report writing. It concludes that there are still serious barriers to the full and effective integration of audio data into qualitative research: the absence of ‘industry standard’ recording technology, the underdevelopment of audio interfaces in Atlas.ti (as a key CAQDAS package), and the conventional approach to data use in many online publication formats all place serious restrictions on the integrated use of this data. Nonetheless, it is argued here that there are clear benefits in pushing for resolutions to these problems as the use of this naturalistic data through digital formats may help qualitative researchers to overcome some long-standing methodological issues: in particular, the ability to overcome the reliance on data transcription rather than ‘natural’ data, and the possibility of implementing research reports that facilitate a more transparent use of ‘reusable’ data, are both real possibilities when using these digital technologies, which could substantially change the shape of qualitative research practice.

This paper assessed the experiences of doctoral students in a private university about their doctoral studies. Using the case study design, 20 key informants were purposively selected, and in-depth interviewed to obtain their views on the phenomenon under investigation, with the support of ATLAS. Ti version 8.0 software, the data were thematically analyzed to answer the research questions, highlighting students’ experience on course work, research work, student support, and the relevance of the doctoral degree to the students’ current profession. The findings also showed that students have exposure to the basic guidelines of sound academic research. Still, their previous knowledge in research at the point of entry into the program is weak, making applying the knowledge gained in their thesis writing impractical. The data suggested that the students had varied reasons for pursuing the program. While those in academia needed the qualification to flourish their careers, the students from other sectors wanted to secure post-retirement opportunities.

Abstract (sommario):
This study aimed to analyze how nurses represent their role as nursing academics and their conceptions, strategies and feelings involved in teaching-learning and research in nursing. A qualitative study was conducted. To achieve this goal, a semi-structured interview was carried out with seven nurses who worked as teachers and researchers at a university in Barcelona, Spain. The data were analyzed through categories validated in a previous study with the support of The Atlas Ti program. The results evidenced that nurses are less equipped to develop the researcher role, and that the profession is not justified without a close relationship between nursing theory and practice. The nursing academics look for a balance between teaching and research and they also wish to promote the development of models and theories in their own discipline.

Abstract (sommario):
A pragmatic approach was used to explore the extent to which four selected social science degree programs were relevant for the skill needs of the job market in Zambia. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected from 162 participants using interviews and questionnaires. The SPSS version 24 and Atlas. Ti Version 8 were used to analyse and interpret data within the framework of the Capability Approach. The findings reveal that the relevance of each of the four social science degree programs depend on how key stakeholders in higher education and the labour market perceive them and that graduate employability was affected by factors such as the need and importance of social sciences to the labour market; employer and student perceptions of employability skills in the degree programs; demand for the programs; graduate work readiness, and the availability of graduate job prospects. It could be concluded that although all four social science degree programs were important, their relevance to the needs of Zambia’s labour market varied from program to program.

Abstract (sommario):
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the “Energía, la justa” program, aimed at reducing energy poverty in the city of Barcelona, from the point of view of the target population and the workers involved in the intervention. METHODS: A qualitative, descriptive and exploratory pilot study was carried out, with a phenomenological approach. Twelve semi-structured interviews were conducted: to three users, three energy agents who performed interventions in the homes, and six professionals who participated in the program coordination. A thematic content analysis was carried out using Atlas-ti software. Interviews were conducted between October 2016 and March 2017. RESULTS: Trust in a contact person (e.g. social workers) facilitated the participation, although there were difficulties reaching people who had illegal energy supplies, immigrant women or immigrants who subrent properties. Regarding implementation, home visits, energy efficiency advice and the relationship with energy agents were the best assessed aspects. However, not being able to carry out reforms in deteriorated dwellings was considered a limitation. The program also contributed to raise awareness on energy rights, to save on utility bills and to generate tranquility and social support. CONCLUSIONS: Programs such as this one can promote energy empowerment and improve psychosocial status. However, strategies with a gender and equity perspective should be considered to reach other vulnerable groups.

The conceptualisations of educational supervision amongst supervisors and residents were explored in this study to understand how supervisory roles may have been affected by the adoption of competency-based psychiatry residency training. Methods: A qualitative research approach with thematic analysis was adopted. Individual in-depth interviews using a semi-structured interview guide with a purposive sample of six supervisors and six newly graduated residents were conducted. Transcripts of the interview were analysed and coded using the Atlas Ti software. Results: Four major themes emerged from analysis of the transcripts: (1) Meaning and definition of supervision; (2) Expectations and responsibilities of the educational supervisor; (3) Elusiveness of mentoring elements in educational supervision and (4) Personal and professional development of residents in supervision. Supervisors and residents perceived educational supervision narrowly to be transactional with acquisition of knowledge and skills, but residents yearned for more relational interactions. Conclusion: This study showed that the roles and functions of supervisors in educational supervision were unclear. It also highlighted the lack of a mentoring orientation in supervision in the psychiatry residency training program. An emphasis on assessment of competencies might have contributed to tension in the supervisory relationship and lack of a mentoring role, with concerns on residents’ personal and professional identity development in their psychiatry training.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract When confronted with a patient with a brachial plexus injury, how often as neurosurgeons do we consult and atlas to confirm the anatomy of the brachial plexus and then attempt to establish the location of the lesion? Similar difficulties are encountered with lumbar and sacral plexus lesions. In a project organized to assist the neurosurgeon in this time-consuming task, a computer program that can rapidly determine the site of a lesion in a brachial, lumbar, or sacral plexus injury was created. Using known anatomical pathways (37 clinically relevant upper and 20 lower extremity muscle innervations), and relying solely upon the neurological motor examination, rapid computer-assisted diagnosis is possible. When more than one final common pathway lesion occurs (for example, multiple root avulsions of the brachial plexus), possible lesion sites can be obtained. An interactive dialogue between the user and the program helps to determine the location of the lesion. The program can be run on any IBM-compatible personal computer and is presented as an instrument that provides assistance in cases of complex peripheral nerve injuries, when expert consultants are unavailable. In addition, it can be used as an aid to learning and as a review of basic neuroanatomy.

Abstract (sommario):
Humanoid robotics is a complex and highly diverse field. Humanoid robots may have dozens of sensors and actuators that together realize complicated behaviors. Adding to the complexity is that each type of humanoid has unique application program interfaces, thus software written for one humanoid does not easily transport to others. This article introduces the transportable open-source application program interface and user interface for generic humanoids, a set of application program interfaces that simplifies the programming and operation of diverse humanoid robots. These application program interfaces allow for quick implementation of complex tasks and high-level controllers. Transportable open-source application program interface and user interface for generic humanoids has been developed for, and tested on, Boston Dynamics’ Atlas V5 and NASA’s Valkyrie R5 robots. It has proved successful for experiments on both robots in simulation and hardware, demonstrating the seamless integration of manipulation, perception, and task planning. To encourage the rapid adoption of transportable open-source application program interface and user interface for generic humanoids for education and research, the software is available as Docker images, which enable quick setup of multiuser simulation environments.

Abstract (sommario):
Background Cancer survival has doubled and is likely to continue increasing in the near future. Cancer survivors experience long-term adverse effects, with associated psychological changes, and often they have needs that are yet to be met. Recognizing the lack of continuity-of-care initiatives for cancer survivors and caregivers, Osakidetza Basque Health Service has started to implement through primary care a peer-led active patient education program called “Looking after my health after cancer”. This study explores how cancer survivors and their caregivers rate the experience of participating in the program, to what extent the program helps them understand and address their unmet felt needs, and helps them improve their activation for self-care and self-management. Methods A qualitative exploratory phenomenological study was conducted using five focus groups: four with cancer survivors (n = 29) and caregivers (n = 2), and one with peer leaders (n = 7). Narrative content analysis was performed using the constant comparison method, facilitated by Atlas-ti software. Descriptive analysis of sociodemographic and clinical data was performed. The study was developed according to the Consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research (COREQ) checklist. Results Five main themes emerged from the content analysis: 1) satisfaction with the program as a positive learning experience; 2) peer sharing and learning ("if they can, so can I"); 3) fears prior to attending the program; 4) becoming more aware of unmet felt needs and feeling understood in the “new normal”; and 5) a more positive view of their experience, helping them become active in self-care and empowered in the self-management of their condition. Conclusions The peer education program has shown to have a positive impact on cancer survivors and caregivers. It is necessary to design, implement and evaluate interventions of this type to address unmet felt needs during cancer survivorship and improve their quality of life.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract. Efforts developed in the university context in Chile regarding physical education (PE) teaching training linked to integrated learning strategies (ILS) are plausible. However, it is stated that all proposed pedagogical approaches, to reach a high standard quality, require assessment to allow them to accomplish the objectives that prompted their creation. The aim of this study was to identify the obstacles and challenges that professors and students have encountered related to ILS in a PE training program from a Chilean university. The methodology employed was based on the qualitative approach and the main data collection tool was an in-depth interview. ATLAS ti. 7.5 software was used to reduce and define the qualitative data gathered. The participants of this research were 10 students and 10 professors from a PE teaching training program in Temuco, Chile. Results show the main obstacles and challenges for ILS are associated with a lack of structured teaching approach and of collaborative work among the student body, which allow efficient management of the ILS working process. As a conclusion, it is stated the need to put aside the technical approach focusing ILS only on results, to give emphasis instead to the ILS process, which enriches teaching training in the educational praxis.

Abstract (sommario):
The electronic version of the atlas significantly increases the importance and role of the information product as a prototype of the necessary component of the information technology infrastructure. The most important role in the development of electronic atlases is played by modern information technology. But they are often used to create specialized cartographic material, which accounts for large administrative units: countries and regions. At the same time, smaller entities, such as administrative districts, which are also important for economic, scientific, and educational activities, are often unfairly ignored. The article discusses the features and results of the development and creation of an innovative information product—an electronic atlas for the territory of the Tengushevsky district of the Republic of Mordovia. The relevance of this work is obvious, since a variety of cartographic and reference material has been accumulated, which needs to be systematized and visualized. The material on electronic maps and atlases was studied, source data and software were selected, a set of GIS spatial data was formed for mapping purposes, and data was collected into a single source visualized in a standard Internet browser. As the main software for creating the cartographic basis of the future atlas, the program was chosen as ArcGIS, for the design part—CorelDRAW, and for compiling the pages of the local database—Notepad++. The result of the work was an electronic atlas of the administrative district, integrating data obtained from various sources using the capabilities of GIS technologies in a format that allowed them to be successfully transferred to an online portal. The proposed technological scheme can serve as a guide for creating similar information products for other administrative districts.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose: To examine the perceptions of and barriers to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participation among Asian and Pacific Islander (API) immigrants. Design: Qualitative focus groups were conducted in 4 API communities. Setting and Participants: Participants were recruited from 4 API communities (n = 68; 22 Tongan, 18 Vietnamese, 16 Filipino, and 12 Chinese) through local community-based organizations in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Method: Trained bilingual and bicultural researchers conducted 8 focus groups in English, Chinese, and Vietnamese. Prior to the start of each focus group, participants completed a demographic questionnaire which included a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Security Module. Analysis: Audio recordings were transcribed verbatim and those in the native languages were transcribed verbatim. Transcripts in native languages were reviewed and translated into English. All transcripts were organized in ATLAS ti version 8.0 and analyzed using thematic analysis. The USDA Food Security Module results were scored and assessed for food insecurity. Results: Median age of participants was 58 years and 59.4% (n = 38) were food insecure. Barriers to SNAP participation were identified and organized within the Social Ecological Model by the following themes: (1) unclear program information, (2) application process, (3) shame, and (4) pride. Despite commonalities found across API subgroups, unique challenges with public charge and immigration existed within the subgroups. Conclusion: Culturally relevant in-language SNAP materials and multilevel interventions are needed to mitigate barriers and increase SNAP participation rates among low-income API groups.

Abstract (sommario):
Manhood values are highly prioritized among most culturally orientated South African Black communities with an ideology that revolves around the concept of masculinity. The notion of manhood values is deeply rooted in male dominance, sexual drive, and traditional male circumcision. The goals of this study were to (a) explore the experiences of school health nurses in the provision of sexual and reproductive health among adolescent boys; and (b) recommend suggested action to develop adolescent boys to adapt a healthy behavioral lifestyle through a health-promoting school program. This study employed a qualitative approach utilizing a descriptive and exploratory research design. The Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion was used to guide the study. Purposive sampling was used to select participants for individual interviews to collect data. A total of 21 school health nurses were selected to participate in face-to-face interviews. A thematic analysis was conducted using ATLAS ti (version 8) software. Five overarching themes were yielded and categorized as facilitators, barriers, and suggested action to improve sexual and reproductive health services as follows: (a) legislative frameworks and policies; (b) male medical circumcision, and prevention of HIV/AIDS and STIs; (c) lack of support from teachers and school-governing bodies; (d) risky sexual behaviors among the learners; and (e) empowerment and personal skills development. The study concludes with a discussion and recommendations that a comprehensive health-promoting school program should be developed for adolescent boys with guaranteed ownership and sustainability of male sexual and reproductive health.

Abstract (sommario):
We present the “AI-Atlas” didactic concept as a coherent set of best practices for teaching Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to a technical audience in tertiary education, and report on its implementation and evaluation within a design-based research framework and two actual courses: an introduction to AI within the final year of an undergraduate computer science program, as well as an introduction to ML within an interdisciplinary graduate program in engineering. The concept was developed in reaction to the recent AI surge and corresponding demand for foundational teaching on the subject to a broad and diverse audience, with on-site teaching of small classes in mind and designed to build on the specific strengths in motivational public speaking of the lecturers. The research question and focus of our evaluation is to what extent the concept serves this purpose, specifically taking into account the necessary but unforeseen transfer to ongoing hybrid and fully online teaching since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our contribution is two-fold: besides (i) presenting a general didactic concept for tertiary engineering education in AI and ML, ready for adoption, we (ii) draw conclusions from the comparison of qualitative student evaluations (n = 24–30) and quantitative exam results (n = 62–113) of two full semesters under pandemic conditions with the result of previous years (participants from Zurich, Switzerland). This yields specific recommendations for the adoption of any technical curriculum under flexible teaching conditions—be it on-site, hybrid, or online.

Abstract (sommario):
Introduction: This study presents the results of an investigation, which addressed trends in teaching humanities and ethics when training future elementary school teachers participating in a distance and virtual education program. Humanistic education is understood to be a way to develop human sensitivity towards cultural and social diversity in order to understand the world. Objective: Its purpose, among others, is to foster the development of humanism among students. Current problems focus on the most basic and primitive behaviors of the human being, such as their ability to annihilate, reject, exclude, isolate, dominate and control others. Universities have interpreted these ideological conditions as the educational processes that fall within commercial and industrialized educational frameworks. Method: This study was then conducted as an ethnography, which utilized videos as a non-participant technique for observation and record of virtual activity, collected and analyzed through ATLAS-Ti. Results: The results show that the most common pedagogical trends emerge from teacher-student interactions, which are integrated through socio-constructive, cognitive and behavioral processes. Discussion y Conclusion: In particular, such experiences as the need to persist teaching values, ethical principles, and the teacher’s role in training and transmitting humanistic and ethical knowledge can be shared with the community.

Abstract (sommario):
Background: Pedestrians in Uganda account for 40% of road traffic fatalities and 25% of serious injuries annually. We explored the current pedestrian road traffic injury interventions in Uganda to understand why pedestrian injuries and deaths continue despite the presence of interventions. Methods: We conducted a qualitative study that involved a desk review of road safety policy, regulatory documents, and reports. We supplemented the document review with 14 key informant interviews and 4 focus group discussions with par- ticipants involved in road safety. Qualitative thematic content analysis was done using ATLAS. ti 7 software. Results: Five thematic topics emerged. Specifically, Uganda had a Non-Motorized Transport Policy whose implementation revealed several gaps. The needs of pedestrians and contextual evidence were ignored in road systems. The key program- matic challenges in pedestrian road safety management included inadequate funding, lack of political support, and lack of stakeholder collaboration. There was no evidence of plans for monitoring and evaluation of the various pedestrian road safety interventions. Conclusion: The research revealed low prioritization of pedestrian needs in the design, implementation, and evaluation of pedestrian road safety interventions. Addressing Uganda’s pedestrian needs requires concerted efforts to coordinate all road safety activities, political commitment, and budgetary support at all levels. Keywords: Pedestrian; safety intervention; qualitative; Uganda.

Abstract (sommario):
This article presents an analysis about meanings that clinicians and researchers have regarding the autonomy of the mature minor with autoimmune disease, which could lead to different power practices during the moment of taking the informed consent, keeping in mind the doctrine of the minor mature. Consequently, the role of clinicians and researchers in contributing to the moral development or autonomy of the child. The objective was to describe the meanings or perceptions of doctors and researchers, at the time of informed consent, in relation to the autonomy or moral development of the child with autoimmune disease, arising from their experiences, knowledge and prior conceptions of the child. The methodology used was of a qualitative nature with a subjectivist and interpretative approach and a transversal scope. Semi-structured interviews were applied to 21 people, researchers and doctors, who attend children with autoimmune diseases, whose data were analyzed through the Atlas Ti program. 8.0. In conclusion, the informed consent is a process of assertive communication ethical model that seeks the moral structuring of the child beyond what is perceived by the clinician or researcher, in addition the clinicians and researchers consider that to structure the minor is to perceive him as an autonomous subject; which is possible when it shows adherence to treatment and responsible care independently of the tutor&#39;s support.

Abstract (sommario):
For close to three decades, the entrepreneurial university has been growing at a slow pace in the developed countries but recently the developing countries have raised interest in adopting the concept. However, most universities in developing nations including in South Africa have largely relied on Eurocentric frameworks to guide them in adopting the entrepreneurial thrust into their strategic plans. This generic approach can be detrimental given the economic disparities, digital divide, and local needs between developed and developing universities. Therefore, drawing lessons from literature and case studies, the current paper seeks to contextualise the adoption of entrepreneurial universities in rural-based universities of South Africa. The paper seeks to demonstrate how a rural-based university can transform and embrace entrepreneurial drivers and components. A systematic review approach was followed to search and synthesise literature from Web of Science and Scopus databases. The bibliometrics program was utilised to statistically quantify scholarly material and the distribution of science on entrepreneurial knowledge while the Atlas ti 9 software platform was used to synthesise literature. Results showed that drivers of entrepreneurial universities are influenced by local socio-economic conditions and thus, rural-based universities need to conduct baseline studies that inform their implementation strategies. Suggested conceptual pathways to entrepreneurial transformation include curriculum rethink, inculcation of the entrepreneurial culture, enhancement of partnerships with local businesses and improvement of internationalisation
