Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Background The role of residents as teachers has grown over time. Programs have been established within various specialties to formally develop these skills. Anesthesiology residents are frequently asked to provide supervision for novice learners and have numerous opportunities for teaching skills and clinical decision making. Yet, there are no educational programs described in the literature to train anesthesiology residents to teach novice learners. Objective To explore whether a resident-as-teacher program would increase anesthesiology residents' self-reported teaching skills. Methods An 8-session interactive Anesthesiology Residents-as-Teachers (ART) Program was developed to emphasize 6 key teaching skills. During a 2-year period, 14 anesthesiology residents attended the ART program. The primary outcome measure was resident self-assessment of their teaching skills across 14 teaching domains, before and 6 months after the ART program. Residents also evaluated the workshops for quality with a 9-item, postworkshop survey. Paired t testing was used for analysis. Results Resident self-assessment led to a mean increase in teaching skills of 1.04 in a 5-point Likert scale (P < .001). Residents reported the greatest improvement in writing/using teaching objectives (+1.29, P < .001), teaching at the bedside (+1.57, P = .002), and leading case discussions (+1.64, P = .001). Residents rated the workshops 4.2 out of 5 (3.9–4.7). Conclusions Residents rated their teaching skills as significantly improved in 13 of 14 teaching domains after participation in the ART program. The educational program required few resources and was rated highly by residents.

Abstract (sommario):
Art education an important part of aesthetic education. It is indispensable for the comprehensive and healthy development of human beings. The basic task is to cultivate creative ability, human aesthetics, and apprec iation. Art education is conducive to improving the humanistic cultivation of young students, enhancing the spiritual realm of human beings, and cultivating the creative ability of young people. It has irreplaceable social, cultural, and an-thropological significance for promoting the comprehensive and healthy de-velopment of people. The development of multimedia information technolo-gy provides a new teaching method for art education and teaching in a con-temporary setting. This teaching method can guide students to optimize or change the methods and concepts of traditional art creation and aesthetic value. However, traditional art education multimedia technology has poor teaching effects due to limited teaching conditions. This requires the use of multimedia technology and other technologies for interactive fusion. There-fore, this paper proposes an interactive fusion model of multimedia and vir-tual technology, which is verified by the model. It was found that this inte-grated education method could not only simulate the real environment and expand the cognitive scope of students, but also could promote students' learning motivation as well as situational and authentic learning experiences.

Abstract (sommario):
In order to improve the effect of digital media art teaching, this study combines the neural network algorithm to carry out the innovation of digital media art teaching resource management and teaching method innovation. The scheme proposed in this study divides the video frame into image blocks and then uses the BDCT transform to convert the video frame from the spatial domain to the frequency domain. Generally speaking, the DCT coefficient has the characteristic of energy concentration. In order to reduce the metadata needed to transmit the position of the discarded frequency-domain coefficients, the method proposed in this study divides the frequency-domain coefficients of different blocks into bands according to frequency and compresses the video in units of bands. Finally, this study constructs a digital media art teaching innovation system based on a convolutional neural network. The experimental research results show that the digital media art teaching system based on the convolutional neural network can effectively improve the teaching effect of digital media art.

Abstract (sommario):
The effectiveness of classroom teaching has emerged as the determining factor in whether a school will endure as higher education in China develops. Currently, all schools and institutions have established public art education classes that offer art education to students who do not study art. With the establishment of public art education, students of other subjects can learn art, film and television, music, calligraphy, dance, and drama and master basic practical skills that fundamentally improve their aesthetic capacity and qualities that promote the emergence of morality, intelligence, physique, and glamour among college students. However, colleges and universities should assess the teaching abilities of teachers after establishing public art education programs and then improve their own teaching abilities by fully altering the public art education model in accordance with the results of the teaching evaluation quality score. This study establishes a method for evaluating the effectiveness of teaching in public art education courses at colleges and institutions. The fuzzy comprehensive is based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The system for evaluating the quality of teaching is established, which builds the teacher’s teaching evaluation factor set, decides how much weight each teacher’s teaching quality evaluation factor should have, establishes the teaching quality evaluation grade, and decides the comprehensive teaching quality evaluation method. The teaching quality evaluation is finally computed using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation formula and the AHP approach in accordance with the evaluation results provided by five different types of experts. The results indicate that department leaders awarded teachers a 94.11 rating for their ability to teach.

Abstract (sommario):
The purpose of this study is to explore the identity that teaching artists construct as they experience arts and culture education. Through the life history research method, I looked in depth at the present lives of eight visual arts major research participants from their childhood to the present day as teaching artists and how the art educational experiences permeate the artists’ lives and construct their identities. First, while un-derstanding the overall life process of teaching artists, I looked into the main background of working as artists and teaching artists. Next, the period when research participants took the role of teaching artists can be described in four categories: art class process, experiences with fellow teaching artists, experi-ences with class participants, and difficulties and conflict situations in art education activities. Based on the analysis of the data, four main meanings were derived: 'a prop for artists to work as artists', 'a coor-dinate to confirm identity', 'a channel to communicate with society', and 'social contribution through art education'. The significance of this study is that it examines the process of identity construction from the perspectives of the teaching artists based on the life histories of the research participants, further expand-ing the identity discussion of the teaching artists and using it as a basis for understanding teaching artists in Korea.

Abstract (sommario):
This study is about how to design differentiated instruction based on empathy in art education. The purpose of this study is to explore how differentiated instruction should be designed to provide empathy-based art education. The results of the study are as follows; Differentiated art classes for empathy-based art educa-tion set learning topics that use empathy as both the content and method of learning. And empathy-based differentiated art classes refer to a series of teaching and learning processes that help learners solve learn-ing problems individually and cooperatively by utilizing various characteristics in the art learning process. Empathy-based differentiated art classes allow learners to go through the process of empathizing while reading visual media - empathetic exploration and expression of others in visual media - empathetic ex-ploration and expression of themselves in reality - organizing and reflecting. Empathy-based differentiated art classes are designed to reflect the diversity of learners throughout the learning process. To this end, it is necessary to measure and investigate learning variables related to classes among learners and plan teaching and learning activities based on the data obtained. Overall, the design of empathy-based differ-entiated art classes proceeds in the following order; Selection of learning topics - Lesson design - Selection of learning variables - Identification of learner characteristics - Analysis of individual learner characteristics – Characteristic analysis of the entire class - Macro lesson design - Analysis of groups of learners requiring differentiated prescriptions - Micro lesson design.

The uniqueness of Wayang Bengkong art is that this performance is staged using only three puppets, namely Mbah Bengkong, Raden Panji, and Sri. This puppet tells the story of life admonitions that aim to give good advice in living life. The purpose of the study was to describe the educational value contained in the performance of Wayang bengkong Lasem, Rembang Regency. This study used a qualitative approach that produced descriptive data. Educative values in this art can be translated into beauty values (aesthetics) and expediency values (Religious, Social, Ethical). These values are in line with the values that Wayang Bengkong Lasem is trying to convey, which is called Lao Tse teachings. This Lao Tse teaching includes the mind, mind (including spiritual), and physical. The implementation of these educative values is carried out through these three teachings. The teaching means that in living his life, man must take care of his mind, mind, and body to do things that lead to good. The art of Wayang Bengkong Lasem has good positive values to be taught to the next generations of the nation. Advice for local governments should pay more attention to traditional arts that still exist today. Do not let this art become extinct because of the lack of public knowledge about this art.

Abstract (sommario):
In consideration of the research problem associated with the need for globality and inclusive vision in art and architecture history pedagogy, this research proposes an alternative research framework that entails the globality and inclusion of non-Western content in studying and teaching art and architecture history, as well as the use of interpretive-historical research methodology in conducting cross-cultural and comparative studies for a glossary assignment. This research provides a glossary assignment in which students conduct cross-cultural and comparative investigations of Western and non-Western art and architecture. The study approaches, tactics, and themes employed by students to do cross-cultural comparisons are systematically examined. Common glossary terms from conventional Western art and architecture history, namely, composite image, ziggurat, contrapposto, and still life, are critically used to demonstrate that they are universal and also existent in Southeast Asian art and architecture. Inductive rather than a priori analytical framework reveals new themes derived from cross-cultural comparisons. By juxtaposing original redrawn images of art and architecture from Western traditions and non-Western contexts, this research creates a significant visual impact on the usage of illustrations as tactics that transcend conventional maps and timelines. Application of the alternative study framework reveals the universality of the human desire to create art and architecture that transcends chronology and cultural boundaries.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper explores the effects of transgression in teaching caused by the operation of new media. Adapting Bell Hook’s argument on ‘teaching to transgress’ that articulates the necessity of freedom for the learning experience, the paper proceeds to critically examine such ‘transgressive freedom’ with the agency of new media in art education. It argues that while such transgression is well aligned with the freedom of independent thinking and criticality inherent to the radicality of learning art, such freedom in learning also permits the pedagogical intrusion of new media through the utilization of technology by students in a classroom. Having this as the foundation, the paper sets out to critically examine new media as a new form of radicality—one that not only perpetuates the radicality of art by breaching the distinction between learner and teacher but also begs for a reconfiguration of the discrepancy between human and non-human in education.

Abstract (sommario):
With the progress of the times and social changes, more and more people are realizing the necessity of inheriting intangible cultural heritage and their contribution to the content of school art education. This study aims to explore the integration and development of the design and application of Cantonese opera art in primary school art education. Drawing on the cognitive framework of American psychologist Richard Mayer's multimedia learning theory, this study takes Guangzhou Huadu Qixing Primary School as the research object and conducts pilot teaching in the form of extracurricular activities recruited by art interest groups. Empirical research is conducted through questionnaires and participatory observation methods. Research has shown that integrating Cantonese opera art into primary school art classrooms not only enhances students' sense of identification and pride in traditional culture, but also enhances their creativity in applying Cantonese opera art design. During the experimental teaching process, it was found that the current integration and development of Cantonese opera art through art education is still weak, due to insufficient protection of school art teaching resources and a serious lack of school art teachers. Therefore, optimization strategies for experimental teaching are proposed: firstly, to strengthen the promotion of school culture and resource sharing with local art museums; secondly, to adopt diverse teaching methods to increase students' interest in learning Cantonese opera; and third, to build excellent teacher training for Cantonese opera art.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper discusses the teaching of screenwriting and storytelling in terms of art and craft. It argues that since Romanticism established itself in the 19th century as the dominant Western view on art and culture, it has driven a wedge between people’s notions of art and craft, promoting the former and demoting the latter. This rift has impeded the teaching of screenwriting and storytelling in general. Following this, art historians and sociologists of art have suggested developing a “third system of art,” one that reintegrates the artist and the artisan, the art and craft-based values. This essay develops the basic tenets of a “technical approach” to the teaching of screenwriting. This technical approach sits in-between a Romantically biased “free-wheeling” approach and a mechanistic, “rule-based” approach. It is argued that a technical approach to screenwriting or storytelling could help materialize such a “third system of art” and benefit the practice, teaching, and study of screenwriting and storytelling.

Abstract (sommario):
The article is devoted to the problem of inconsistencies in the implementation of art education in the State Standard of General Secondary Education of Ukraine. To achieve this goal, the task was set to demonstrate the importance of public art education as the basis for the education of young people. The study was conducted using the methods of theoretical, empirical research and general methods of scientific research. The article analyzes the forms of non-formal art education introduced by cultural and artistic figures in 2004. Restoring the experience of ethnic festivals and preserving the traditions of artistic families becomes the basis for the implementation of the state standard of general secondary education. The comparative analysis demonstrates the importance of combining different approaches in the formation of public education in the country, preserving the spiritual, moral and ideological positions of young people. The experience of leading artistic families in popularizing art education in the region is analyzed. The influence of prominent artists on the formation of interest in Ukrainian culture among international partners is studied. An example of the assimilation of individual experience of artists to the challenges of life is given. The conclusions summarize the importance of combining art and public education for the formation of key competencies, harmonious personal development, and the reproduction of the sacred meaning of art education. It has been shown that the art education sector has a number of gaps in its implementation and future development. The task of the teacher is to develop the spiritual and psychological spheres of the individual; actualization of historical, cultural, artistic or ethnographic influence; formation of skills to look for hidden meaning in the language of art: understanding the non-verbal dialogue with the author, learning to decipher the composition code and learning to understand the principle of the universe, the laws of the world continuum through art; creating parallels during lessons, trying to fill the entire educational space with art (musical minutes during breaks, musical accompaniment during intellectual tasks, the use of stimulating visual content in the space of the educational institution, visiting the workshops of artists and sculptors, holding master classes in museums), which enhances informal education. It is assumed that the creation of an artistic educational product should have a gender aspect in the popularization of influence, the economic background that always surrounds the student and determines his or her artistic and aesthetic preferences. A successful combination of didactic tools of influence and the achievements of Ukrainian folk art can become a source for implementing a comprehensive process of psychotherapy for young people in the context of war and postwar.

Abstract (sommario):
South Korea is becoming more of a multicultural society due to the increase of trade, the influx of foreign labourers, the increase of international marriages, and globalization. The term, “multiculturalism” has become a familiar term in South Korean. Multicultural education is promoted by many South Korean scholars and educators as an effective means by which to solve the many issues now occurring from the social, cultural and ethnic diversity in South Korea. My research and approach to the issues of diversity, is relevant to multiculturalism, most of the research focusing on the K-12 levels in education (elementary, middle, and high school). There are few multicultural art education programs for college students or adults in South Korea. The programs in existence are commonly used to introduce foreign cultures by using traditional art making and study, such as mask making, traditional clothing design, and doll making. Multicultural art education could be expanded into higher education curriculum to include university students and continuing education for non-traditional adult students, to cover and realize more fully the goals of multicultural education. The aim of this paper is to introduce multicultural art education lessons implemented by two international art instructors working at a university located in the United States who have implemented their multicultural art education program for more than two years. The art classes in this program are designed for non-art major students and are one of the more popular courses offered at the university. Even though the lessons in this paper are made for a particular social setting and purpose, by sharing the art lessons taught in the program, I have hope that the South Korean multicultural art education program will expand the scope of their curriculum so the goals of multiculturalism meet the needs of the diversity in the country

Abstract (sommario):
Objectives This study started from the fact that confinement in the formalism of art expression cannot persuade students to answer the question of ‘What is the reason for learning art?’. Hence, the purpose of this study is to clarify whether learner’s recognition on art can be changed through the case on teaching art expression. Methods This study is done for the objects of the three 6th graders with insufficient confidence in practical skills in art. The researcher planned and practiced art expression class for one 6th grader and analyzed the study result by focusing on the student’s work and the interview details. ‘What type of person am I?’ and ‘What type of person will I want to be?’ are presented as subjects, and the artwork was planned and produced through the story-telling of the student from plan preparation. Only one student’s (alias-Ayeong) work is used with the content of the interview with the student as data due to the limit of space to understand a typical case and do analysis as the qualitative case study on researching the culture pattern. Results A-yeong recognized art as ‘the thing not requiring the use of her head’, ‘making a thing’, and ‘the thing that is not study’ in the pre-interview and was doing an art activity like that of a kindergartener or a low grader even though she was a high grader in the elementary school. Before the actual class, she selected the best photo expressing her to talk about herself and provide the prior experience connecting the meaning and the image. She made the acrylics entitled ‘Vine’ through storytelling and expressed the mind of becoming a warm person to people around her with the huge pot decorated with the vine, the rocker, etc. The changes of learner’s recognition on art could be checked after artwork production. Those changes are ‘A drawing plays the role not replaced by a photo.’, ‘Finding self through art expression’, ‘A good artwork is unique and satisfying.’, and ‘The scope of art expression is wider than that of writing’. Conclusions First, conversation with a student helps a student organize the meaning suitable to the subjects and properly implement the meaning with the formative language. Second, the art creation of an upper elementary school grader should be the creative activity based on the higher quest for the life of self beyond the level of an infantile art activity. Third, the meaning of learning art is convincing only if a teacher cannot directly teach it but a student should experience and realize it for itself.

The central questions of this study, ‘how does making influence art teaching?’ and ‘how does teaching art influence making?’, were explored through interviews and maker journals. Findings indicate that making inspires teaching in providing inspiration, interest and confidence to teach as well as increased self-acceptance and happiness. Participants who indicated affects of teaching on making cited learning new skills, materials and styles, and that teaching stimulated reflection and encouraged them to make art that is relatable to others. Our conclusions suggest that the roles of maker and teacher are porous, intertwined and complex. Implications for teacher education suggest the importance of exploring and nurturing the interconnections between making and teaching in a reflective, supportive environment.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose – After almost three centuries of employing western educational approaches, many African societies are still characterized by low western literacy rates, civil conflicts, and underdevelopment. It is obvious that these western educational paradigms, which are not indigenous to Africans, have done relatively little good for Africans. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to argue that the salvation for Africans hinges upon employing indigenous African educational paradigms which can be subsumed under the rubric of ubuntugogy, which the authors define as the art and science of teaching and learning undergirded by humanity toward others. Design/methodology/approach – Therefore, ubuntugogy transcends pedagogy (the art and science of teaching), andragogy (the art and science of helping adults learn), ergonagy (the art and science of helping people learn to work), and heutagogy (the study of self-determined learning). That many great African minds, realizing the debilitating effects of the western educational systems that have been forced upon Africans, have called for different approaches. Findings – One of the biggest challenges for studying and teaching about Africa in Africa at the higher education level, however, is the paucity of published material. Automated generation of metadata is one way of mining massive data sets to compensate for this shortcoming. Originality/value – Thus, the authors address the following major research question in this paper: What is automated generation of metadata and how can the technique be employed from an African-centered perspective? After addressing this question, conclusions and recommendations are offered.

Abstract (sommario):
Art anatomy is a morphological science characterized with the use of many terms and descriptions that are difficult to remember. The traditional art anatomy teaching mode pays attention to explanation of theoretical knowledge in the classroom using simple teaching methods, so that the teaching is boring. Consequently, students have low interest in learning, which affects the quality of teaching. With this regard, an Art Anatomy teaching mode was proposed in this study based on digital virtual technology. It uses digital virtual technology to build 3D models and database of art anatomy teaching specimens. Due to the powerful modeling functions and production effect of 3DS MAX, MAYA software and VRML to render realistic scenes, the preservation and recording of the initial state of the anatomical specimens can save various types of data and spatial relationships of the specimens to the greatest extent. Based on the teaching practice in the course of “Art Anatomy” at Liaoning University of Science and Technology in Liaoning Province, China, the teaching mode proposed in this paper was found to be highly efficient, concrete and easy to understand, and students had a high degree of recognition for this teaching method. A new idea and method were thereby provided for the teaching reform of art anatomy.

Abstract (sommario):
Art and Science are two important aspects of human existence. Science focuses on facts and knowledge on the physical world, while Art plays a vital role in interpreting facts and knowledge to something that can be appreciated. Biology as part of this Science is generally taught with a solid dedication to its disciplinary strength having its own core elements and definitive border. This mixed method study applied a sequential explanatory method to two groups, Art-Based-Activity Group (ABAG) and Non-Art-Based-Activity Group (NABAG). The quantitative data includes the pre-test and post-test results of both ABAG and NABAG in the identified three least mastered topics in Genetics. The collected data suggested that the ABAG has significantly higher scores during the post-test compared to the other group. The content of the artworks showed that art activities helped the students understand difficult lessons more clearly as opposed with traditional methods of teaching critical contents in Biology. Incorporating Art in the delivery of instructions marks a milestone and sets the pursuit to a quality and enjoyable teaching-learning process and experience.
