Abstract (sommario):
This paper reviews responsive architecture, a dynamically developing aspect of design and construction, encompassing fundamental engineering and technological principles, architectural and design content, and green architecture elements to meet the needs of society and the individual. The key thesis of responsive architecture is “nothing in nature is motionless”. As part of nature’s context, the individual has the right to exist in a sustainable environment, the development of which is shaped through environmental, economic, and social aspects. Our research characterizes the key directions of responsive architecture’s development and development prospects in the context of the current technological processes and social needs. Since responsive architecture is based on synthesis, we rely on materials from various design fields (including engineering and technical solutions, mobile form-making, green architecture, etc).

Abstract (sommario):
Central courtyards emerged in many civilizations of the world. Cyprus was no exception as courtyards formed important architectural features throughout the centuries in the residential architecture of the island. The erection of dwellings attached to each other, the need for a private outdoor protected space due to the introverted character of societies, as well as the climatic conditions, i.e. warm Mediterranean climate, led to a widespread use of the courtyard in nearly all traditional residences of the island in the last two centuries. Apart from vernacular architecture, courtyards appeared in earlier historic periods and, in some cases, they were found to be used in the residential architecture of more recent decades. This paper presents an analytical study of the social and environmental aspects of courtyards in the vernacular dwellings of Cyprus. The research underlines the role of the courtyard as an important social gathering area, as well as a microclimate regulator in the residences. Moreover, it highlights its bioclimatic significance in enhancing the integration of nature's elements into the design and overall architectural concept of the dwelling.

Abstract (sommario):
Sustainable design… Green architecture… Sustainable constructions…Green Buildings these are all new ways and methods for designing and constructing. The environmental and economical challenges of this era are affecting many sectors. New buildings are being designed and executed and operated by modern technologies which reduces the environmental impact and at the same time leads to reduction in cost especially running costs and it participates in providing a safe and comfortable architectural environment so the need to develop the concept of sustainability in the architectural sector does not differ much from the needs that led to the development of sustainable development with its environmental, economic and social dimensions. As this term is one of the new concepts in the field of Iraqi architecture and engineering, so it necessitates the presence of researches concerning this idea from all its aspects in order to make use of the current international and so this research will define the concept of sustainability and green architecture and the important international standards and scales used in this field and highlighting it as a means to increase the efficiency and quality of Iraqi architectural projects. We have focused on international architectural examples as case studies and analyzed them architecturally and environmentally in order to understand the designing and engineering philosophy that the designer depended on.

Abstract (sommario):
In architecture, Venustas (aesthetics) is always considered an important attribute along with Firmitas (firmness) and Utilitas (usefulness). Pursuing aesthetics/ beauty is one of the architect’s primary roles. However, it is critical to comprehend ‘What is aesthetics?’ and its implications for the built-unbuilt environment and human beings. In a world where everything is changing, are the definitions, concepts, and parameters of aesthetics consistent? Is it subject to change over time? If so, should architectural students and professionals be aware of it and trained in it? This study aims to critically assess and analyse the dynamic aspects of aesthetics from 3300 BCE to present and establish the ‘best fit’ definition of aesthetics in architecture. The methodology used for the study is a mixed-method approach, a comprehensive analysis of relevant literature to investigate the origin of aesthetics and aesthetics in philosophy, environmental psychology and architecture. The aspects, criteria and sub-criteria identified from the analysis. The consensus is taken from expert interviews and a questionnaire survey (n=72). Findings reveal that aesthetics in architecture is dynamic/ ever-changing. It has nine contributing aspects that make aesthetics a performing aesthetics that emphasises the enhanced worth and value for money invested. These nine aspects are spatial organisation, functional efficiency, social, psychological, environmental, maintenance, sustainability, technology, and economics.

Abstract (sommario):
Culture, region, and climate are three fundamental aspects that influence vernacular architecture. As the largest archipelagic country in the world, Indonesia is rich in diversity of vernacular architecture, originating from different cultural backgrounds and natural characteristics. It is interesting to examine whether significant similarities or differences are reflected in two vernacular houses formed from other cultures, regions, and topographies, even though they have the same function: residence. In this research, architectural comparisons were made between Sundanese traditional houses with the natural character of the mountains in West Java and Banjar traditional houses in the coastal region of South Kalimantan. Data was obtained through the literature review and then analyzed using Bentley's theory of three aspects — functional-constructional, environmental, and socio-cultural; as well as seven criteria — permeability, variety, readability, robustness, visual suitability, richness, and personalization. The research results show that the differences between these two vernacular architectures are visible from the use of materials and the type of foundation used. Apart from that, an interesting fact was discovered that even though both of them have different cultures and regions, the shape of the roof, the position of openings such as windows and doors, and the location of the buildings in the same housing complex, these two vernacular architectures have similarities. It is analyzed that this is the response of both communities that is reflected in each of their vernacular architecture to the environment in the same climate, namely the tropical climate.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract This paper main factors are mosque architecture, the theoretical framework of the ‘Sense of Place’, the creation of ‘Sacred Places’, the architectural and cultural heritage of Masjid Ar-Rahman, Kelantan, Malaysia. These factors are based on the Islamic religious understanding, and they are interrelated. The mosque is a sacred important symbol in Islam. The Malay Mosque is medium scale architecture, a humble typology but demonstrates strong cultural and architectural heritage. However, the current mosque architecture is dominated by the monumental domes and towers, the two foreign elements that replace native parts and alter the archipelago official mosque appearances. Hence the lack of local ‘Sense of Place’ and connection to the environment. The conceptual framework capitalizes the research gap found in mosque architecture by further delving into the creation of ‘Sacred Places’ through the ‘Sense of Place’. The Masjid Ar-Rahman of Pulau Gajah, constructed in 2016, demonstrates simplicity both in its traditional image and architectural scale with the Hindu-Buddhist syncretism. It is the value of hybrid assimilation and tolerance and coined as the Nusantara hybridised Malay and Javanese architectural styles and cultural heritage. This research employs qualitative methods of phenomenological and case study propositions supported by architectural evidence in emphasizing the symbolic and semiotic aesthetics aspects in constructing the ‘Sacred Spaces’ through the ‘Sense of Place’. The findings demonstrated that the ‘Sense of Place’ of Masjid Ar-Rahman is created by the simplicity of the mosque design reflected by the Sufistic beliefs and its connection to the environment.

Abstract (sommario):
The influence of imported material, technology and methods has put pressure on most traditional architectural systems to modernize. This influence to modernize is transmitted through various mechanisms. This paper argues that there are a number of aspects to vernacular architecture that would be lost through this conversion process to modern materials, technology and methods. Through the examination of vernacular architecture among the Lamba people of Senior Chief Mushili’s chiefdom, the study found that there are cultural, environmental and aesthetical aspects in vernacular architecture that are poorly understood in the process of modernization. Data for this research were collected through an ethnographical approach with occasional in-depth interviews with senior members of the Royal establishment and the community. Thus, the data were mainly qualitative.

Abstract (sommario):
Vernacular architecture clearly expresses the strong relationship between man and his surrounding environment, as it represented a mirror reflected the material and human requirements and components of the environment that corresponds to it. From the standpoint of vernacular architecture which is compatible with the environment came as a contemporary innate expression of the reality of place and time, we are trying in this paper to come up with a clear definition of vernacular architecture and the features that characterized it as an attempt to add the human touch to modern architecture, and this is done by studying the vernacular architecture of and analyzing factors Influencing its urban formation, then exposure to the vernacular design of residential buildings and the extent of their environmental and cultural compatibility. The paper concludes with analysis, deduction and evidence that vernacular architecture produces a distinctive local character whose built environment is compatible with local nature and cultures and this is what supports the individual's sense of belonging, as it is man's success in adapting to his environment that enables humanity to communicate and continue. Purpose of the study ▪ Determining the features and characteristics of vernacular architecture by analyzing an architectural example of an Egyptian village with a vernacular architectural character ▪ Study the extent to which vernacular architecture is compatible with the environment as an aspect of the natural aspects and the human aspect such as customs, traditions and religion ▪ Emphasize the importance of preserving vernacular housing as it is considered a local heritage ▪ Take advantage of the Vernacular architecture method in dealing with humans and the environment in designing our modern architecture and using technology

Abstract (sommario):
Work in the office and the requirements of people as users of this environment changes fundamentally according to the way of implementation of the activities connected with obtaining, processing and exchange of information. Office workplace becomes not only variable, but almost mobile in time and space. Increase in the proportion of communication in administrative office work, changes of its ways and its implementation, and development of work arrangements in the working groups, are all reflected in the increasing demands for customization adaptation of environment office buildings. Architectural concepts thus must respond not only to the wishes of existing customers, but to a large extent also to the anticipated possible scenarios and alternatives of further development. Thus, the need to create spaces adaptable for different levels of group work, the multiple use of workplaces, or for focusing on work on projects with time-limited duration are included in the considerations about an office building. The user of a working environment will require its significantly greater adaptability to highly individualized needs of a diverse range of office activities. To secure them does not only mean better technical parameters of intelligent buildings concepts, but also a better organization of activities and their relation to the projection and architectural design of individual spaces and buildings as a whole.

Abstract (sommario):
The architecture of Baghdad suffers from a lot of problems, ranging from the application of materials and form to the expression in contemporary buildings that not only change the traditional architectural identity but also the performance of the buildings that meet the needs of the local population. This unfortunately increases the damage related to cultural values and environmental sustainability regardless of adaptable solutions that can improve the energy efficiency of building performance. The traditional elements of architecture in the city of Baghdad represent a source of inspiration for contemporary architecture and are exploited to enhance its identity and spatial affiliation. The process of exploiting these elements takes place on several levels, including those that achieve environmental, symbolic, or formal aspects. Hence, the research problem crystallizes in the lack of clarity on the levels of benefiting from the elements of traditional local architecture in enhancing the identity of contemporary architecture and its spatial affiliation. The research aims to shed light on how to analyze the components of the performance and value of traditional architecture in the city of Baghdad, which is rich in cultural heritage and which can be translated into contemporary architecture that creates continuity in traditional cultural identity. The study uses the theoretical descriptive approach through which data is collected on the vocabulary of local traditional architecture of the city of Baghdad and its roles at the environmental, formal, and aesthetic levels to arrive at a main vocabulary for the theoretical framework, which is represented in four basic vocabulary represented in the aspects of form formation, dependence on the environment, and the interface. , aesthetic aspect, and cultural value. These vocabulary were applied to two recently elected projects in the city of Baghdad, through which the four indicators and the role of each of them in enhancing the identity of contemporary architecture and its spatial affiliation were analyzed.

Abstract (sommario):
Despite the modern and grandiose appearance of most architectural projects, closer examinations cast doubts on their sensitivity to the cultural and traditional past of the societies for which they were intended. Space for human habitation and interaction is one of the primary aspects of man's culture, and is basic to any architectural discussion. For a long time, architecture in most developing nations was shaped by colonial contexts and ideologies. The architects seemed more committed to revitalizing the civilization of other advanced countries within a new world setting. The focus of this paper is on the interplay between architecture and culture. The relationship between spaces created by architects and the local culture is examined within the context of place - the house, the community, the region, as well as the nation. The study identifies ties that bind groups together. It also explores the components that constitute spatial character. Physical and intangible aspects of materials in achieving environmental character are evaluated. Key questions regarding the professional and ideological inclination of architects are addressed. Finally, the impact of emerging global trends occasioned by contact of cultures is analyzed.

Based on the analysis of the design of environmental landscape architecture in Qiangzhai Style, it is proposed that the design of landscape architecture should be based on computer-aided design technology. Landscape architecture design integrates many disciplines, and any good building usually includes two aspects of internal and external space design. The design idea is the premise of deciding whether the Qiang landscape architecture design can be done well or not. It needs more understanding of the Qiang architecture, culture and art to do the related design well. Cultural creativity is also an important part of the strategy of Rural Revitalization and the construction of characteristic villages in Qiang nationality areas.

Abstract (sommario):
Many scholars of Byzantine architecture have theorised about the reasons for church form and structure, with most relating them to sources in pagan architecture or local traditional construction methods (Krautheimer, Crowfoot, Ward-Perkins, Mango and Hill) ); to aspects of provincialism, regional independence or location peripheral to empire (Megaw, Delvoye, Wharton), or to environmental constraints such as frequent earthquakes (Curcic). But just as the wording of the various creeds and ecumenical statements responded to aspects of contemporary non-orthodox beliefs or “heresies”, so did the theological debate inform the liturgical practices and consequently church planning. It could be expected that these responses would also be reflected in the architectural approach to form and symbolism. Thus a contextual typological framework is proposed, based on the association of different architectural approaches to church planning and form in the 4th to the 6th centuries with the contemporary doctrinal disputes over the true nature of Christ.

Abstract (sommario):
The transition from vernacular architectural patterns to current architecture in rural Iran has led to various socio-cultural and environmental problems in the last decade. This study explores the nature of this transition, which has been overlooked in the studies of vernacular architecture in Iran. Furthermore, this article contributes to the ongoing academic debate on the decline and transformation of vernacular architectural patterns in the context of modernization. It analyzes the forces behind the decline and rise of vernacular settlements in a case study area, the Salami region of the Khaf district in Iran’s Khorasan Razavi province, by exploring how it is possible to reinterpret vernacular architectural patterns in the context of current architecture to utilize the new developments in rural Iran not as an obstacle but as an opportunity for improvement. To this end, this article explores vernacular architectural patterns in a case study area in Iran, supported by socio-cultural aspects and the environmental conditions of the region. This study conducts architectural and anthropological fieldwork on three vernacular houses in a case study area and uses participant observation and informal interview methods to understand the people and their interaction with their built environment. The findings of this article thus contradict previous studies on learning from vernacular architecture by shedding light on vernacular architecture in Iran as a system by demonstrating the inextricable links between different vernacular architectural patterns. Therefore, this study argues that to draw lessons from vernacular architectural patterns for current architecture in rural Iran, it is necessary to limit its communication concerning people’s contemporary needs but not to neglect this communication completely.

Abstract (sommario):
Islamic architecture is an ongoing argument for an extended period. Is it Islamic architecture, Muslim architecture, or architecture in Islam? Is it just visual elements or a way to use the inner space? Whatever the answer is, we will use the term Islamic architecture in this paper. To search and dig out the identities of so-called Islamics. This paper is seeking after these identities and their relations with Islamic culture to solve international architecture concepts without modifications or adaptation. The main goal is to extract the sociocultural aspects that define that architecture to be called Islamic Architecture. An analytical research method uses some attempts to interact the environmental conditions and social aspects with cultural and religious values to define Islamic architecture's identity. The study result and summary could be used to evaluate the satisfaction of the built environment of Muslims when and wherever they are. As a comprehensive result, Islamic Design Principles, Islamic Planning Principles, and Islamic Urban Design Principles could be extracted from Islamic sources and used everywhere at any time by anybody. These design principles may be used to upgrade the workability of the existing residential buildings simply by revising the opening's location, heights, and treatments. Architecture with that dynamic, flexible culture gives its identity a chance to compete globally to survive locally.

Abstract (sommario):
Nature has been the primary inspiration for architecture since its very beginnings, and there are many facets and levels of this inspiration in architecture, starting from the stage of direct imitation of the formal aspects and proportions, passing through the aspects of masses and construction, all the way to the deep levels and principles upon which nature is based and achieving its sustainability. Therefore, the architecture, in the current time and for future times, is directed towards simulating the deep aspects of biological systems and taking advantage of their features, such as self-organization, adaptation, flexibility, and efficiency, in a way that achieves the desired goal of architecture, which is its sustainability. This is also through the emergence of the term (biomimetic), which the research focuses on for its ability to combine biology and architecture. From a review of the literature that dealt with this term, the research problem emerged as “the lack of clarity about biomimicry as a strategy aims at achieving aspects of sustainability.” Hence, the research objective was defined by determining the possibility of benefiting from the trend of biomimicry as a tool and strategy for achieving sustainability while studying its applications in design and architecture. To achieve the research objective, a descriptive and analytical approach was adopted, in addition to several procedural steps, the first related to the theoretical aspects of the topic and building a theoretical framework for it. The second step was the practical study by analyzing a few approved projects. The last (third) procedural step was to draw results and conclusions. The research reached several conclusions that reflect the role of adopting the biomimetic approach in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of architecture and its sustainability and emphasizing the achievement of architecture responsive to environmental conditions by enhancing its natural systems to increase their efficiency and suitability to the requirements of development. The research also concluded that this approach will determine the path of contemporary and future architecture by approaching biological principles with architectural principles.

Abstract (sommario):
The present textual work focuses on the significant role of certifications such as LEED and BREEAM in the context of architecture in Southeast Asia. LEED and BREEAM are widely recognized sustainability certification systems that assess and promote environmentally friendly and energy-efficient building practices. These certificates serve as valuable guides for sustainable construction projects and have a positive impact on the promotion of sustainability principles. The findings indicate that the demand for environmentally friendly buildings in this region is continuously growing. This has led to an increased application of certifications as instruments to achieve sustainability goals. Despite this positive development, some challenges persist. In particular, the disparity between claimed sustainability and the actual sustainability achieved in certain construction projects requires critical examination. This underscores the urgent need for more effective monitoring and regulation regarding certification procedures. Another crucial insight is that the adaptation of certificates to the cultural and climatic peculiarities of the region is of great importance. The present work emphasizes the importance of close collaboration between government authorities, architects, and the construction industry to effectively promote sustainable architecture in Southeast Asia. It concludes with an outlook on future developments and the potential role of regional materials and construction methods in the architecture of this region. In summary, it becomes evident that certifications play an indispensable role in promoting sustainability, but their effectiveness depends on a variety of factors. The aspects of monitoring and adaptation to regional conditions prove to be crucial for achieving the goals of sustainable architecture in Southeast Asia in the long term.

Abstract (sommario):
Architecture, both in the practice and the education, is moving toward a higher environmental awareness. It is shown from the inclusion of ecology as one of the core subject in the curriculum. But, ecology is dominantly viewed and learned through a scientific and qualitative approach rather than a creative design methodology. This paper argues that ecology always has a potential to become the basis of creative design process. There are three key aspects in learning ecology in architecture: learning ecology as reading complexity, as understanding dynamicity, and as building up awareness of our position as designers. These key learning aspects are enabled by the nature of architectural design studio as educational environment. This paper examines the key aspects of ecological learning within one of the design studio in Universitas Indonesia. The study concludes that there is a relationship between the learning stages of the design project and the ecological understanding of the students.

Abstract (sommario):
There are two main approaches when discussing living green walls: an ecological one and an artistic one. Ecological thinking mainly considers environmental aspects, comfort enhancement and energy consumption and oversees human interaction and actual proximity to plants. In opposition, art or architecture installations that involve vegetation, lack technical and ecological aspects, aiming to raise awareness on environmental issues using human interaction either physically (direct) or emotionally (indirect). The present paper aims to analyze methods of combining the two directions, in a functional, ecological, yet aesthetically pleasing composition. In order to further develop previous experiences gathered by the team members, authors of this article, a green installation concept made out of interactive modular systems unites all the knowledge into a new, living, moving, dynamic, interactive structure whose inspiration is taken from nature while using biomimicry as main principle for its development. This new concept responds and is influenced by both external, natural stimuli and by the human factor. Multidisciplinarity is a key element in developing this project, involving architecture, art, interior and landscape design, botany, geometry, mechanical and electrical engineering, leading towards new research directions and innovative approaches in greenery—interior environment connections.

Abstract (sommario):
Sustainability is a concept that addresses the growing environmental problems on the planet. From an architectural point of view, it is affected by the thoughts of architecture that comes from the community which faces environmental problems. A community can have a different understanding of it, leading to architectural formations that will affect the culture of the society and sense of its identity. In architecture, the images represent the meanings and the materials that produce them. A building expresses identity and the ideas change the potentials of architecture. With the emergence of global architectural trends, societies are subject to the concepts of ‘one architecture’ and ‘one culture’ by means of ideas and technologies. Such a new universal identity makes alternative memories and unique places to lose their identity. By losing their essence, the products could become far from being sustainable. Architecture / the sensory circle, and the potential of architecture / psychological circle lead to sustainable architecture. It is subject to sensory and cognitive perceptions, and the use of the senses for extrapolation to extract and generate concepts and transfer them to achieve the goals of architecture. This integration is dependent of the mind being an examiner and a mastermind. This research revealsthe nature of the relationship between the latent and the apparent aspects in sustainable architecture. The research employs the descriptive-analytical study and a case study method as a means of testing. Data for the case study were collected from published studies on the project or from the self-description of the project designer himself. One of the most important conclusions is that environmentally sustainable architecture is the result of the union of two forces, the power of thought and the power of matter, and the creative interaction between them.

Abstract (sommario):
The fruit industry is a vital part of the agricultural economy, and the quality and quantity of crops depend heavily on the science of tree canopy architecture and engineering. The canopy is the most important part of a fruit tree as it affects photosynthesis, fruit quality, and yield. The study of canopy architecture and engineering increased in importance due to the need for efficient agricultural practices that optimize fruit production while reducing the environmental impact. Factors that influence canopy architecture, such as light, water, and nutrient availability, genetic makeup of the plants, hormones, management practices and innovative engineering techniques can optimize orchard management. Canopy can managed by the using different types of pruning (Proper pruning can enhance light penetration, airflow, and disease management, ultimately leading to higher yields and healthier fruits), thinning, by using dwarfing rootstocks and training (such as central leader system, modified central leader system and open Centre system etc.) and also by using the growth retardant & regulators and through gene regulation for higher yield as well as quality improvement.

The article is devoted to the problems of studying the natural and climatic aspect of the living environment formation in architectural and urban planning. The history of the issue is considered, scientific and qualification research from the 1960-s and 1970-s is analyzed. At present, there are observed tendencies of direct borrowing and transferring from the West of some new «techniques and principles», as well as putting forward rather superficial ideas regarding the transformation of the living environment, while fundamental domestic developments of the Soviet and post-Soviet times are often forgotten and ignored. Special attention is paid to the subject, problems and results of dissertation research in the field of architecture and urban planning, as well as related technical sciences. In addition, material from works on such branches as sociology and geography, biology and agriculture is considered.

Abstract (sommario):
Knowing and understanding plants are essential factors for a successful landscape architecture project. Great landscape architects from the 20th and 21st centuries - such as Burle Marx, Fernando Chacel, Rosa Kliass, Caldeira Cabral, and Piet Oudolf - perceive vegetation as a link between nature and the city, in which the valuation and the respect for the landscape are the central points. Unfortunately, little focus has been given to the appropriate employment of plants in landscape architecture projects at architecture and urbanism schools, resulting in generic planting schemes. Should these schemes be called landscape architecture projects? Oppositely, Applied Botany to Landscape Architecture has as one of its objectives providing knowledge for the conception of plant palettes, which should consider not only aesthetic criteria but also biological and environmental ones from each species to establish a harmonious relationship with the existing environment. Thus, this article intends to present the experience and the results achieved in the discipline AQ553 - Special Topics in Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape Architecture Theory III (Applied Botany to Landscape Architecture). For this discipline, it was adopted descriptive and bibliographical research as a methodology, which has made possible the understanding of aesthetical and environmental matters related to the plant element and how these attributes can be reflected in a landscape architecture project. By leading students to consider the architectural and biological aspects of the vegetation components in their proposals, the procedure adopted in this discipline had great outcomes; for instance, improvements in the areas of environmental perception, graphic representation and design of landscaping projects.

Abstract (sommario):
Eco-architecture is a sustainable concept which in essence prioritizes natural and environmental aspects in an architectural design. In addition, eco-architecture also focuses on the use of natural energy as an alternative energy source to replace fossil energy which produces C02 which causes damage to natural ecosystems and causes harm to the living things in it. In this research, Marina Bay Sands Hotel is the object of hotel research that uses the concept of eco-architecture in its design. There is also a discussion on the building's energy operational system in which there are passive systems, hybrid systems, active systems and productive systems as levels in the use of building energy with the aim of providing efficient energy for buildings. The last is about the identification of harmony which includes discussing the configuration of the building mass and the orientation of the building. Based on the analysis carried out with the components previously mentioned, it can be concluded that the application of eco-architecture based on its principles has a significant impact on environmental conditions around the site. This is because these principles are principles that pay attention to environmental conditions during the construction period and after the building is active, which makes the building a sustainable building

Abstract (sommario):
The article is devoted to the identification of the features of the modern architectural process and the establishment of actual tasks of architectural activity. Today's society, science, and practice are experiencing phenomena that radically change the approaches and paradigms of the architectural process. The paper highlights the contradictions in the theory and practice of architecture that need to be resolved; considers aspects of the modern ideology of architecture; develops certain provisions of the theory of the environmental approach, namely, the features of "understanding" design, the communicative component of architectural activity; emphasizes the interaction of various actors in the process of architectural activity, the dialogue of the architect with stakeholders. The author emphasizes the decisive role of the architect as an organizer and coordinator of the design process, the interpretation of the architectural process as a component of the overall socio-cultural process. The biggest shifts are taking place in the field of the environmental approach to architectural activity. Environmental issues, which bring people and their lifestyles to the forefront, give impetus to the development of architectural management and marketing. These changes in priorities have led to a problematic situation in the theory of architecture and opened up a new space of work: the identification and recording of environmental experiences and images, the production of these experiences and the management of this process. The environmental approach outlines the future trajectories of architectural work, the essence of which is the inclusion of the designer in the life of the population, the materialization of their own version of life processes, the identification of a set of specialized activities that support the ideology of social progress and cultural development. Scientific research and architectural practice should be based on the achievements of the philosophy of architecture, understanding of new value orientations, taking into account the differences and pace of social change, etc. There is a need to recognize the importance of such a factor as the subject of the architectural process. Changing the basic guidelines of the consumer of an architectural object requires ensuring at the design stage the possibility of transforming an architectural object in the process of its further operation, predicting the emergence of new functions and the formation of their new material shell. The article outlines the contours of scientific innovations in the field of architecture - the theory of architectural activity in the conditions of intersubjective interaction; suggests forms of correct introduction of the concept of "design subject", which is active in the architectural environment, into design practice and theory of architectural activity.

Abstract (sommario):
The article considers the architectural problems of modern secondary education from the point of view of changes in the requirements of both the functional planning structure of the school and the educational process, in accordance with the reform of the Ministry of Education and Science - “New Ukrainian School”. It is noted that in Ukraine, most schools were built during the Soviet era and, accordingly, they do not meet modern requirements and are in need of renovation. Various periods of the formation and design of schools during the Soviet Union, from 1926 to 1956, are examined. The role of school is defined as a place where a person begins to form as an individual, and starts to realize their role in life. The influence of the architecture of the school building on the character and worldview of the child is considered. Such modern design trends of schools abroad as “open space”, “aspect of mobility”, and environmental friendliness are elaborated upon. The formation of a free school space layout allows the child to feel free and comfortable, and also makes it possible not to “hold down” thoughts in the process of understanding oneself and the world around them, establishing a more creative atmosphere. Another important aspect of the formation of modern schools in the world is mobility. In schools with a mobile interior, the child and the teacher can change the space for themselves - move everything and rearrange it as they need. The items do not have a fixed place, it is decided as necessary. One of the current trends in the architecture and design of modern schools is the inextricable link with the natural environment, the active interaction of the building and natural elements, their inclusion in school architecture and indirectly in the educational process. This direction is implemented using the technologies of "green building", that allow to create a sustainable architectural environment for school buildings and complexes, which preserves and improves the environment. Some examples in modern world architecture are analyzed, illustrating approaches to the design and renovation of schools.

Abstract (sommario):
What kind of society does Islamic architecture reflect? What are the basic units and forms of Islamic society associated with Islamic architecture, and what kinds of relationships existed among its individuals? Is Islamic society a ‘uniform society’ or a ‘multi-layered society’? These fundamental questions are at the centre of this study. This paper explores the basic intellectual, social and environmental aspects that have shaped Islamic architecture. It explores these aspects as reflected in the building forms of Muslim societies. Functionalism and interactionism are two major schools of modern sociology. As a social phenomenon, Islamic architecture is examined in the light of these two schools. The urban fabric of the traditional Islamic city as an example of functionalism in architecture is examined with reference to the ruined city of Sāmarrāʾ, in Iraq; and examples of Ottoman architecture are considered as models of interactionism in city planning and architecture. The works of three major figures in contemporary Arab thought, Muḥammad Abed Al-Jabri and ʿAbdullah Al-ʿArawī from Morocco, and Mohammad Al-Anṣārī from Bahrain, are considered in this paper. Their thoughts and views are used as vehicles to test some innate features of Islamic architecture. The influence of language and the desert, two exceptionally important factors that have shaped the culture of Muslim societies and its manifestation in architecture, is also explored. The findings of this paper, although still at a preliminary stage, reiterate the major concepts of the medieval Arab scholar Ibn Khaldūn, in his Muqaddimah, in an architectural context.

Abstract (sommario):
The global ecological crisis is an indispensable issue that needs to be solved. The importance of developing critical thinking and communication skills in teaching-learning methods will help to enhance education performance; as well, the students would become informed participants in environmental decision-making. Lebanon is suffering from multiple ecological problems due to the environmental mismanagement, particularly energy problems. For this reason, training the Lebanese students mainly in architecture schools should to think critically about environmental issues, and using collaborative problem-solving as one of teaching-learning methods and techniques, which will be directly reflected in finding solutions to the problem under investigation. The researcher aims to experiment and apply this method in a history of architecture class at faculty of architecture, to improve the environmental quality of health and wellbeing in historical built environment. This will increase the awareness for conservation aspects of architectural heritage in students, on the one hand. In addition to spread the spirit of teamwork, to facilitate the concept of integrated design process between the different disciplines when practicing professional life, on the other hand. Therefore, the study aims to produce a new methodology for integrating teaching-learning method in architecture, presenting various international attempts of thermal retrofit in historical built environment, guiding the architectural students to follow the same approach of such projects, which will save energy in a country that has a major problem in electricity. The case study is based on a real problem in a realistic situation in Tripoli old Souks at north Lebanon, in which the instructor and the students will analyze and propose some solutions of building thermal retrofit within this historical context, using collaborative problem-solving strategy that could clarifying its reversal extent on the validity of health and wellbeing with the continuity of conserving the architectural heritage.

Abstract (sommario):
Waste is a serious environmental problem worldwide. Waste can refer to various types of materials or substances resulting from human, industrial, agricultural and other activities. The waste problem covers aspects such as management, environmental impact and human health. In this paper, an Islamic perspective on waste recycling in building architecture is discussed. Case studies involving architectural works with the use of building waste reflect the principle of recycling in practice. Waste buildings are materials or structures which have been retired for their original purpose but which still have the potential to be reused with little or no major alterations. Architectural works such as households, community facilities, or even commercial buildings can use used materials that are still usable to reduce demand for new resources. However, in implementing the recycling concept in architecture, it is necessary to pay attention to several aspects, such as structural safety, quality of used materials, and compatibility with the surrounding environment. Islam encourages the use of resources wisely and in moderation, as well as minimizing negative impacts on the environment. This is the responsibility of humans as caliphs on earth to preserve the environment and to maintain the balance of the ecosystem. as well as compatibility with the surrounding environment.
