Abstract (sommario):
This work concerns physiology of binocular vision and stereovision. The main topic of this work is the production of anaglyphs. The first part introduces anatomy of the eyes and principle of binocular vision, which is the stereoscopic production based on. The second part introduces the individual methods, it's processes and technical implementation for three-dimensional presentation with focusing on answering questions connected with production of anaglyphs. At the same time the M-script ANAGLYPH was developed, which provides connection with two external cameras and becomes high-quality element of anaglyphs production. All anaglyphs were photographed with couple of Logitec C120 or couple of Canon 450D cameras. Final anaglyphs were presented to a group of observers and they were given question forms. Subjective opinions of observers were statistically analyzed. The electronic version of this work and all the files and data are included on attached DVD.

Abstract (sommario):
Anaglyph is considered as an inexpensive approach to display to the observer a true 3D view of a real world scene. Moreover, it is the only way of providing a 3D stereoscopic effect on ordinary paper. There are not many techniques used to render anaglyph images, and most of them are very empirical and are used exclusively for additive display devices. The mathematical Linear Projection method was proved to be the best existing method for rendering anaglyph images with high color stability and color fidelity. However, its limitation is that it can exhibit strong ghosting in the rendered anaglyph images. This study describes two separate anaglyph algorithms; one is targeted for CRT additive display devices and the other one is aimed for printer subtractive display devices. Both of these two algorithms are based on the Linear Projection method, in which they attempt to reduce the ghosting effect introduced by the Linear Projection method while maintaining the strength of the Linear Projection method. The study also characterizes the spectral forward characterization functions of a CRT monitor and a printer which are used to test the algorithms developed. The study first mathematically formulates the anaglyph phenomenon. Next, it gives a new ghosting definition which is used to derive objective functions that are used in the proposed algorithms. Besides those two algorithms, the study also introduces a test that checks the compatibility between a colored-filter glass pair and a color display device in term of the ghosting effect. The resulting rendered anaglyph images show that the ghosting effect is significantly reduced.

Abstract (sommario):

Therefore, new capturing techniques, coding and playback modes for 3D video, particularly stereoscopic video, have been emerging or being enhanced, focusing on improving and integrating this new kind of technology with the available infrastructure. However, regarding advances in the coding area, there are conflicts because each stereoscopic visualization method uses a different coding technique. That leads to incompatibility between those methods. An approach to tackle this problem is to develop a generic technique, that is, a technique that is appropriate regardless the visualization method. Such technique, with suitable parameters, outputs a stereoscopic video with no significant loss of quality or depth perception, which is the remarkable feature of this kind of content. The method proposed in this work, named HaaRGlyph, transforms a stereo pair of videos into a single anaglyph stream, coded in a special manner. Such stream is not only compliant with the anaglyph visualization method but also reversible to something close to the original stereo pair, allowing visualization independence. Moreover, HaarGlyph achieves higher compression rates than related work.

Abstract (sommario):

Stereoscopy is a technique that can create an illusion of depth in a flat image. There are many different methods to do this, and here is explained some of the most common and popular ways, with a bigger focus on the anaglyphic method. Since stereoscopy is an old technique, the discovery of it by Charles Wheatstone is explained briefly. In Autodesk Maya 2009, a new stereoscopic plug-in was included which makes the creation of stereoscopic imagery easier. An animated project is made during the course of this research which takes advantage of and tests the functions of the new plug-in. The main purpose of the project is to create a stereoscopic movie which utilized the anaglyph stereoscopic technique. The result is rendered stereoscopic material that is edited with Adobe Premiere Pro to create anaglyphic imagery and a full color alternative using the Infitec technique.

The main goal of this master’s thesis was get up used methods for observation the stereoscopic scene with one couple of cameras and find out good solving for processing these resulting pictures for two-view and multiple-view autostereoscopic displays for three-dimensional perception. For methods for acquisition video was introduced two methods. They were method “Off-axis” with parallel camera axis and method “Toe in” with intersections axis. For fit method was choice the method named as “Off-axis“. It was not produces the vertical parallax and in detail was in this work described principle of this method. Further were describe principles off used methods for three-dimensional perception namely from the oldest method named anaglyph after methods for viewing at autostereoscopic displays. The Autostereoscopic displays were main goal of this thesis and so their principles were described in details. For production the result image for autostereoscopic displays was used generation intermediate images between left and right camera. Resulting videos were acquisition for testing scene in created in 3D studio Blender, where was possible setting system of cameras exactly parallel axis. Then were introduce principles processing video where was extract from the couple of cameras where were connected to PC for help digitizing card and next time with two web cameras. Here is not guaranteed exact parallel axis system. Therefore this work try for real cameras achieve exactly parallel axis system by the help of transformations of frames with stereo rectification. Stereo rectification was solving with OpenCV libraries and was used two methods. Both methods work from principles epipolar geometry that was described in this work also in detail. First method rectifies pictures on the basis fundamental matrix and found correspondences points in two images of the scene and second method rectifies pictures from knowledge intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of stereoscopic system of cameras. In the end of this work was described application for implementation introduced methods.

Abstract (sommario):
The Sun is of fundamental importance to life on earth and is studied by scientists from many disciplines. It exhibits phenomena on a wide range of observable scales, timescales and wavelengths and due to technological developments there is a continuing increase in the rate at which solar data is becoming available for study which presents both opportunities and challenges. Two satellites recently launched to observe the sun are STEREO (Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory), providing simultaneous views of the SUN from two different viewpoints and SDO (Solar Dynamics Observatory) which aims to study the solar atmosphere on small scales and times and in many wavelengths. The STEREO and SDO missions are providing huge volumes of data at rates of about 15 GB per day (initially it was 30 GB per day) and 1.5 terabytes per day respectively. Accessing these huge data volumes efficiently at both high spatial and high time resolutions is important to support scientific discovery but requires increasingly efficient tools to browse, locate and process specific data sets. This thesis investigates the development of new technologies for processing information contained in multiple and overlapping images of the same scene to produce images of improved quality. This area in general is titled Super Resolution (SR), and offers a technique for reducing artefacts and increasing the spatial resolution. Another challenge is to generate 3D images such as Anaglyphs from uncalibrated pairs of SR images. An automated method to generate SR images is presented here. The SR technique consists of three stages: image registration, interpolation and filtration. Then a method to produce enhanced, near real-time, 3D solar images from uncalibrated pairs of images is introduced. Image registration is an essential enabling step in SR and Anaglyph processing. An accurate point-to-point mapping between views is estimated, with multiple images registered using only information contained within the images themselves. The performances of the proposed methods are evaluated using benchmark evaluation techniques. A software application called the SOLARSTUDIO has been developed to integrate and run all the methods introduced in this thesis. SOLARSTUDIO offers a number of useful image processing tools associated with activities highly focused on solar images including: Active Region (AR) segmentation, anaglyph creation, solar limb extraction, solar events tracking and video creation.

This diploma thesis exmines the negative aspects of using information and communication technologies. The main attention is fosused on virtual reality, especially 3D projection in order to decide wheather the using of it has negative impact on phycal and psychological state of the user or not, which exactly are these impacts and what probably cause them. This first part is dedicated to expain concept and history of ICT, explonation of the multidimensional princip and content of each dimension. The following is determination of which ICT areas are currently struggling in their use with negative effects. Detected list of these areas is reduced to six specific technologies which common user has opportunities to experience. These particular technologies were examined as a form of questionnaire, which resulted in a determination of the most used one, ie virtual reality. Shortly afterwards was conducted an experiment imparting undesirable effects caused by using virtual reality. The other five selected technologies are discussed for the most important negatives with which has to face today. The main finding of this study is the identification the side effects of virtual reality based on different types of technologies which are anaglyf 3D projection, passive 3D projection, active 3D projection and comparing if adverse effects depends on the type. It also includes determining the rate of uptake in virtual reality.

The anaglyph image, primarily used for red-cyan eyeglasses, has the following flaws: it only reproduces partial colors, often brings retinal rivalry and ghosting to viewers. In this work, we propose a method for anaglyph image re-coloring to enhance the color perception and reduce the visual fatigue. When an anaglyph image is given, a corresponding stereo pair can be derived. The goal of this work is to restore lost colors of the stereo pair and thus convert the anaglyph into full-color 3D contents. Our main idea is to transfer existing information of the images to each other and we formulate this problem as a labeling problem. We integrate terms of pixel matching, color correlation, and spatial smoothness into the proposed cost function. Graph cuts algorithm is also utilized to solve for the local minimum. We also proposed a progressive restoration scheme due to the restoration difficulty of right and left eye image. Finally, we compare our results with the input anaglyph and the results of a disparity-based (na‥ıve color transfer method) color restoration. Our user study shows that the results from our method improve the viewing experience for anaglyph contents.

In recent years, three-dimensional image is popular and most commonly used of "movie" and "screen display"! It is difficult to follow for graphic designers In terms of "stereoscopic imaging technology". But in fact, anaglyph images can be easy to grasp through photography and Photoshop, then three-dimensional image can be present in visual design. The creation is based on the record during the experiment as the main content, the body move and the fantasy imagery for the purpose of visual representation. Creative process is based on content analysis of market-moving events, the theoretical basis of three-dimensional image, and the knowledge of anaglyph images. And through experimental method, the researcher use advanced photo system type-C shooting static objects and control the equivalence parallax. And by the post-production process, software helps to present a better three-dimensional element. To capture the dynamic three-dimensional images the researcher use two cameras and shoot with two lenses simultaneously. And try to shoot object which is blurred and indistinct (such as clouds, smoke, water and light) to show its three-dimensional images. The preview “The flow of water” as experimentation to exam the presentation of three-dimensional images prints, audience''s reaction and the environmental planning and practice for the main exhibition. The contents of the exhibition "Shape & Shapeless" was start with dancing body move combined with peony image. By empirical method, the researcher tried to create multiple images, Mirror-dimensional, Draw three-dimensional elements, frame composition and other three-dimensional images. Finally, create multiple exposure three-dimensional, projector to project three-dimensional remake of the double, images overlap completely the difference and three-dimensional animation, and multiple forms, and then try again to create a dream-like three-dimensional image. Through the display of the creations "Shape & Shapeless", the researcher hopes to make more audience to know the concept of three-dimensional image, and to consider the application of stereoscopic imaging technology practice in graphic design.

The relationship of macro biomolecular structure and function is veryimportant in the biological and biochemical system. Because of macrobiomolecular complexity, it is difficult to observe and analyze their threedimension conformations and quaternary structures. In order to solve theseproblems, we can use picture presentation to study and compare the structuresof macro biomolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids. The Protein Data Bank (PDB) archive of the Brookhaven National Laboratory( BNL) is a computer-based archival file for macromolecular structures. The Bankstores in a uniform format atomic coordinates and partial bond connectivities,as derived from crystallographic and NMR studies. For a number of years, thePDB has been available on the internet for access via FTP, more recentlythrough Gopher, and now via WWW. These tools provided access to the individualentries of PDB and allowed limited searches of the data bank. We develop a personal computer based program which can read in molecularcoordinate files in PDB formats and interactively displays the molecule on themonitor screen. This program is written in the Visual Basic language and usesthe Windows graphics user interface. The Program can run on IBM PC compatiblepersonal computers under Microsoft Windows 3.X, Windows 95 and Windows NTsystems. This program uses chromatic anaglyph method to display stereo macrobiomolecular structures. Using this program, each macro biomolecule can beviewed in three dimensional model and can be moved, scaled and rotated aboutthree orthogonal axes.

Compression is an important issue in digital applications as it can reduce the storage size and minimize the bandwith usage for file transfer over networks. In this document, two topics about compression is discussed. The first topic presents a novel block-based image coding algorithm which integrates tree-structured multitree dictionary and perceptual-based rate distortion optimization scheme. While multitree dictionary is employed to support a very large number of different tilings, perceptual-based rate distortion optimization utilizes the SSIM metric, instead of popular MSE metric, to allocate bit rate according to human visual system. Experimental results show that our proposed method outperforms many existing techniques in both subjective and objective image quality measures. The second topic presents two novel end-to-end stereo video compression pipelines consisting of single-sensor digital camera pairs, the legacy consumer-grade video decoders, and anaglyph displays. As 3D videos contain a large amount of data, efficient compression methods to distribute streams over the current communication infrastructure are highly required. We proposed two methods to transmit a single encoded stream containing only required data to create anaglyph video from single-sensor camera pairs. The experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed methods over the traditional one by achieving up to 4.66 dB improvement in terms of Composite PSNR.

Fruit and Vegetable Carving skills are quite advanced in Song Dynasty. Fruit and Vegetable Carving were offered for royalty. With the progress of era and the improvement of living standard, cutting and sculpturing vegetables and fruit skills have utilized among the public and have commonly utilized. Cutting and sculpturing vegetables and fruit skills make fruits and vegetables not only food but also art works. Additionally, agricultural products are easily influenced by climate changes. Therefore, the production is not quite the same. The solution approaches are dried fruits and pickled products, but some fruits are not suitable for dried fruits. Modern people emphasize on their health, and it causes some people do not like pickled products. Thus, it is a research-worthy issue to increase products value through combing cutting and sculpturing vegetables and fruit skills and related materials. This thesis takes the rockmelons produced near the seashore in Tainan as an example. Then, combine cutting and sculpturing vegetables and fruit skills on rockmelons’ peels to improve the value of the rockmelons through artistic quality. In addition, this thesis also explores the flavor diversity of combing some food in fruit flesh. Frist of all, analyzethe categories of models and the types of food to embed in the flesh of rockmelons through morphological analysis. Next, plan brand-new cutting and sculpturing vegetables and fruit models and embedded food. Then, evaluate the most feasible and consumer preference design combination via Pugh’s matrix. Moreover, evaluate high feasible combinaions through Cross-Consistency Assessment (CCA). Finally, design a survey with sensory evaluation to access the satisfactory percntage of customers about three cutting and sculpturing vegetables and fruitpatterns and two embedded fruit desserts. This paper improvestraditional agricultural products, an effective reference value of agricultural products.

Abstract (sommario):
The Enigma of Appearances is an examination into the medium of three-dimensional photography, with particular focus on the technique of stereoscopy. Invented in the mid-Victorian era, stereoscopy was an attempt to simulate natural three-dimensional perception via a combination of optics, neurology, and a pair of dissimilar images. Whilst successful in producing a powerful illusion of spatial depth and tangibility, the illusion produced by stereoscopy is anything but ??natural??, when compared to three-dimensional perception observed with the naked eye. Rather, stereoscopic photography creates a strange and unnatural interpretation of three-dimensional reality, devoid of atmosphere, movement and sound, where figures appear frozen in mid-motion, like waxwork models, or embalmed creatures in a museum. However, it is precisely stereoscopic photography??s unique and enigmatic interpretation of three-dimensional reality, which gives it its strength, separating it from being a mere ??realistic?? recording of the natural world. This thesis examines the unique cultural position that stereoscopy has occupied since its invention in 1838, from its early role as a tool for the study of binocular vision, to its phenomenal popularity as a form of mass entertainment in the second half of the 19th century, to its emergence in contemporary fine art practice in the late 20th and 21stt centuries. Additionally, The Enigma of Appearances gives a detailed analysis of the theory of spatial depth perception; it discusses the dichotomy between naturalia versus artificialia in relation to stereoscopic vision; and finally, traces the development of experimental studio practice and research into stereoscopic photography, undertaken for this MFA between 2005 and 2007. The resulting work, Camera Mortuaria (Italian for ??Mortuary Room??), is a powerful and innovative series of anaglyptic portraits, based upon an experimental stereoscopic technique that enables the production of extreme close-up three-dimensional photography. Applying this technique to the reproduction of the human face in three-dimensional form, Camera Mortuaria presents a series of ??photo sculptures??, which hover between reality and illusion, pushing the boundaries of stills photography to the limit, and beyond.
