Abstract (sommario):

Four monotypic genera of the tribe Siculodini are revised and adults and their genitalia illustrated for both sexes. Hepialodes Guenée, 1858, Iza Walker, 1865 and Loxiorhiza Warren, 1904 were originally described to include only one species each and they have not been subject to taxonomic revision since that time. From our study, Meskea Grote, 1877, previously with two species, becomes the monobasic Meskea horror Dyar, 1913 syn. nov. of Meskea dyspteraria Grote, 1877. These genera occur in South America, and of these only Meskea extends to the southern North America. Lectotypes are designated for Hepialodes follicula Guenée, 1858, Siculodes nubecula Guenée, 1858 and Zeuzerodes (Siculodes) cervinalis Pagenstecher, 1892.

This paper reconstructs aspects of the pioneering botanical expedition of Edward Ernest Galpin (1858–1941) accompanied by his wife, Marie Elizabeth Galpin (1859–1933), to the highland areas of the Eastern Cape Drakensberg in 1904. Details of the route, organization and logistics of Galpin's journey are described as well as a discursive record of his main botanical discoveries.

The New World genus Castolus Stål, 1858 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Reduviidae) contains 16 described species. Based on material from northern Colombia we describe Castolus rafaeli sp. nov., and key all known species. The following new synonyms are proposed: Castolus nigriventris Breddin, 1904 = C. bicolor Maldonado, 1976, syn. nov.; and C. subinermis (Stål, 1862) = C. annulatus Maldonado & Brailovsky, 1992, syn. nov. = Mucrolicter alienus Elkins, 1962, syn. nov. Because M. alienus is the type species of the currently monotypic genus Mucrolicter Elkins, 1962, the proposed synonymy results in the following generic synonym: Castolus Stål, 1858 = Mucrolicter Elkins, 1962, syn. nov. New country records are provided for two species: Castolus plagiaticollis Stål, 1858 is recorded new for Colombia; and Castolus rufomarginatus Champion, 1899 for Costa Rica, Colombia, and Ecuador. Additional localities are provided for species from Colombia and other Neotropical countries based on both specimens from entomological collections and observations from the citizen science initiative iNaturalist.

Thraumatagen. nov. is described to accommodate three South American species, two previously placed in Phuphena Walker, 1858, namely Thraumatapetrovna (Schaus, 1904), comb. nov. and Thraumatasubvenata (Schaus, 1914), comb. nov.; and one, Thraumataperuviensiasp. nov., newly described from Peru. Although the larval biology is unknown, these species share several features that suggest their placement in Eriopinae and, as a consequence, a potential association with ferns (Pteridophyta) as larval host plants.

Abstract (sommario):

Many ichnological taxa named by Edward Hitchcock have never been adequately described and illustrated. Among these is the ichnogenus Antipus Hitchcock (1858, p. 115) with two species: A. flexiloquus based on specimens AC (=Amherst College, Amherst, Massachusetts) 35/25 and AC 41/52 (designated the type specimen by Lull 1904, p. 536); and A. bifidus based on specimens AC 23/3, AC 17/2, and AC 23/2 (designated the type specimen by Hitchcock 1865, p. 56). Lull (1904, p. 536) regarded A. bifidus as “… extremely doubtful…” and did not consider it in later publications (e.g., Lull 1915, 1953). The impressions ascribed to A. bifidus might be organic in origin, but if they are trackways, they are totally unlike the tracks of A. flexiloquus. Antipus bifidus is here regarded a nomen dubium because it is undiagnostic. Referred specimen AC 35/25, a small, thin slab of micaceous shale (approximately 87 mm by 96 mm, less than 2 mm thick) that is not mentioned by Lull (1904, 1915, 1953), has one manus and possibly one pes track of such poor quality that analytic comparison to the type of A. flexiloquus is impossible. Therefore, the ichnogenus Antipus has a single species, A. flexiloquus, known only from the type specimen, AC 41/52. Two of the eleven tracks on AC 41/52 have been illustrated (Hitchcock 1858, plate 20, fig. 10; republished with minor revision by Lull 1915, fig. 117; these two tracks are here designated M2 and P4). These simple outline sketches do not accurately portray details of the tracks, and the full trackway pattern was not illustrated.

The paper provides information on the distribution of 45 species of Heteroptera from 10 families in the Kurai steppe in the southeast of the Russian Altai (Altai Republic). Of these, Mimula scutellaris Kiritshenko, 1931 recorded for the first time for the fauna of Russia and Bagrada stolida (Herrich-Schaeffer, 1839) — for Siberia. Following 15 species are recorded as new for the Altai Republic: Nabis punctatus mimoferus Hsiao, 1964 (Nabidae); Deraeocoris ventralis ventralis Reuter, 1904, Apolygus nigronasutus (Stål, 1858), Lygidea illota (Stål, 1858), Lygus rugulipennis Poppus, 1911, Lygus wagneri Remane, 1955, Globiceps fulvicollis Jakovlev, 1877, Psallus betuleti (Fallén, 1807) (Miridae); Neides propinquus Horváth, 1901 (Berytidae); Ortholomus punctipennis (Herrich-Schaeffer, 1838), Kleidocerys resedae resedae (Panzer, 1797), Cymus glandicolor Hahn, 1832, Xanthochilus quadratus (Fabricius, 1798) (Lygaeidae); Myrmus calcaratus Reuter, 1891 (Rhopalidae); Sciocoris abbreviatus (Reuter, 1879) (Pentatomidae).

Abstract (sommario):

Rheumaptera mochica (Dognin, 1904) (Lepidoptera, Geometridae, Larentiinae) is reported from Chile for the first time. It was described from the western slopes of the Andes of southern Peru more than 100 years ago, and was recently rediscovered in Chile after larvae were collected and reared on the shrub Senna birostris var. arequipensis (Meyen ex Vogel) H.S. Irwin & Barneby (Fabaceae). This discovery expands the known distribution of this moth and provides its first host plant record. The genitalia of R. mochica are described and illustrated for the first time and compared to those of R. affirmata (Guenée, [1858]). A maximum likelihood analysis based on mitochondrial DNA sequences clustered R. mochica as sister to R. affirmata with 3.6–3.8% divergence (K2P). A lectotype is designated for Calocalpe mochica Dognin, 1904.

The taxonomic status of the genera Acropiesta Förster, 1856, Anommatium Förster, 1856, Erasikea Szabó, 1961 and Pantolyta Förster, 1856 is discussed. The following generic synonymies are proposed: Acropiesta, syn. nov., is synonymised with Pantolyta, and Erasikea, syn. nov., is synonymised with Anommatium. Erasikea nutrix Szabó, 1961, syn. nov., is a junior synonym of Anommatium ashmeadi Mayr, 1904. Three species are described as new to science: Pantolyta dichromia sp. nov. (Russia: European part, Primorskiy Territory), P. melniki sp. nov. (Russia: Kunashir Island; Republic of Korea) and P. simplicior sp. nov. (Russia: Kunashir Island). Eleven previously known Palaearctic species of the former genus Acropiesta and one species of Anommatium recorded in the fauna of Russia are reviewed and illustrated. The following new combinations are proposed: Pantolyta flavicauda (Ashmead, 1893), comb. nov.; P. flaviventris (Thomson, 1858), comb. nov.; P. flexinervis (Macek, 1998), comb. nov.; P. macrocera (Thomson, 1858), comb. nov.; P. micans (Macek, 1998), comb. nov.; P. nigrocincta (Kieffer, 1909), comb. nov.; P. nitida (Thomson, 1858), comb. nov.; P. pseudosciarivora (Macek, 1998), comb. nov.; P. pulchella (Whittaker, 1930), comb. nov.; P. radialis (Hellén, 1964), comb. nov.; P. ruﬁventris (Kieffer, 1909), comb. nov.; P. sciarivora (Kieffer, 1859), comb. nov.; P. semirufa (Fouts, 1924), comb. nov.; P. seticornis (Kieffer, 1910), comb. nov.; P. subaptera (Ashmead, 1893), comb. nov.; Pantoclis radiatula (Thomson, 1858), comb. nov. An identification key to all Palaearctic species of Pantolyta and Anommatium is given.

Le theme de cette recherche est l'analyse de la production lyrique contemporaine italienne (puccini, dallapiccola, berio, nono) en mettant en valeur les incidences de l'ecriture musicale dans le traitement du texte et ses repercutions sur la representation lyrique telle qu'elle devrait apparaitre aujourd'hui. L'opera italien contemporain propose une nouvelle forme d'ecoute ainsi qu'un nouveau rapport du spectateur a l'image de la scene. La constitution de l'image incombe au metteur en scene desormais considere comme veritable lecteur / createur de l'oeuvre, celui sans qui l'oeuvre ne peut exister. La place du metteur en scene est inscrite dans l'oeuvre et le travail effectue sur l'oeuvre contemporaine s'avere necessaire aussi pour l'oeuvre du passe. The purpose of this research is to analyse the contemporary italian opera production (puccini, dallapiccola, berio, nono). We tried to see what sort of consequences the new way of writing music and considering text had on the opera representation. The italian contemporary opera proposes a new way of listening music and a new relation between the audience and scenical image. The new image has to be produced by a new kind of stage director considered as a real artist who can give an interpretation of the work. That's the only way opera can still exist. The part of the stage director is clearly request in modern opera, but it becomes necessary in productions of repertory operas too.
