Testo completoOrganizations function and grow in an environment that is constantly developing and changing, so they have to adjust with the new data. The personnel has a crucial role for the survival, the evolution and generally the good function of every organization. This dissertation is about the problem of selection and evaluation an organization's personnel. Many mathematical patterns have been proposed for the solution of this problem. We will discuss some of them with details in this dissertation. At this point, we must mention that selection and evaluation process are two different problems that we have to face. This does not mean that they do not connect or that we can not solve both with the same tools. Certainly, the first step is the choice of an employee and the second is the evaluation. Choosing the right employee for the right job is a very difficult problem and that because is hard to judge objectively the candidates΄ personalities. Also, it is difficult to decide about the criteria, based on which the choice will be maid. For example, the experience or the knowledge is more important for a certain job, and how that’s can be represent with numbers or functions at a mathematical pattern. Organizations have to ensure that they made the right choice of a new employee and afterwards they have to measure the efficiency of the other employees. In the first step, we try to predict the future working behavior of a new employee, as well as in the second to describe the working behavior of the employees that already working in an organization.

Testo completoThe present diploma thesis will focus on the study, design and simulation of printed Ultrawideband antennas. These antennas are suitable for high data rate wireless personal area networks. The first chapter includes key definitions of antenna theory. Moreover, the program ADS Momentum that was used during the simulations is presented. In the second chapter, we present the key attributes, the advancement, the advantages and the most crucial applications of UWB technology. The third chapter depicts the desirable attributes of UWB antennas. In addition, some common matching, and element design techniques are presented. Furthermore, Ultrawideband antenna categories are introduced. Finally, some interesting examples of printed Ultrawideband antennas are mentioned. In the fourth chapter, printed UWB monopole antennas are being studied. For this purpose two printed circular disc monopole antennas were designed and simulated. The former fed by a microstrip line and the latter by a coplanar waveguide. In the fifth chapter, printed UWB dipole antennas are being studied. A double sided printed bow tie antenna and an elliptical dipole antenna were designed and simulated. In the sixth chapter, printed UWB slot antennas are being studied. For this purpose two printed elliptical slot antennas were designed and simulated. The former fed by a microstrip line and the latter by a coplanar waveguide. Finally, the seventh chapter includes a comparison of the simulated antennas along with conclusions and proposed future work.

In the second part the thesis focused on developing a prototype implementation of electronic literature and e-management that involves how a company can handle their customers(unemployed applicants). The application consists of two parts: The part of marketing (customer site) and the part of management (website management) using the same database.

Testo completoThe employee evaluation and selection system is an important problem that can significantly affect the future competiveness and the performance of an organization. Various quantitative methods have been proposed as an aid to such decisions. This work presents the most important and common models, that are used in the employee evaluation and selection area. It also focuses on a comprehensive overview of MACBETH (Measuring Attractiveness by a Categorical Based Evaluation Technique). MACBETH is a multicriteria decision analysis approach, which requires only qualitative judgements about differences of value to help a decision maker quantify the relative attractiveness of options. Finally, an application of this technique takes place using M-MACBETH software, based on real data from a big Greek bank.

The citizen - patient will be supposed has also the possibility receives in electronic form a personal medical file which will facilitate him in his access in the services of health of country and in the direct guarantee of benefit of necessary information and given relative with his health.The personal electronic medical file can contain also other personal information that impresses analytically the most recent situation of patient (eg after extraordinary import or visit in doctor), that might be also modified from himself. The diplomatic work aims at as the growth of such personal electronic medical file with the exploitation of technologies of bases of data and Internet.

Testo completoThe role of the police officer is constantly changing according to society’s needs. New forms of crime have emerged thus, requiring a type of police officer with decision making skills and knowledge of advanced technology. A research of the available literature concerning training and development of human resources was carried out and a limited amount of research of Greek police officers was found. This quantitative study examined Greek police officers’ level of knowledge, the transfer of knowledge and their attitudes toward basic training and continuing education. Included were the factors influencing the police officers’ training and the possible need for continuing education needed in order to perform their job more effectively. The police officers’ evaluation towards the efficiency of their training and their attitudes toward continuing development of each one’s skills through continuing education programs were considered. Another aim of this study was to identify possible limitations and areas needing improvement in the Greek police officers’ training. The study included police officers from various departments and divisions of the Hellenic Police Force. Eighty three (n=83) police officers on active duty and ninety four (n=94) police officer cadets. The satisfaction gained from education and training along with each individual’s need for continuing development was examined.The results demonstrated that this sample believed in the value of training and continuing education. Their attitudes and behaviors were greatly influenced by their education. Based on the results, the participants sometimes felt unprepared due to the changing types of crimes such as cybercrimes, human and drug trafficking, terrorism. Continuing education was found to be desired and needed by these officers who suggest the implementation of continuing education programs every 3-5 years concerning such topics as self-defense tactics and use of weapons. They also suggest the use of teaching methods such as role playing and case scenarios in their training program. These findings may provide administrators with information to develop strategic goals and actions needed to improve basic training and continuing education programs. These programs are much needed so that police officers become more efficient in transferring their knowledge to the work environment. Continuous education concerning various policies and updates on new information is recommended to increase job effectiveness. As was mentioned previously, the limited literature found confirms the need for further research by studying a larger sample. A follow-up study should be conducted to measure the improvement in the use of techniques that are necessary for the police officer to efficiently fulfill his duties.

Testo completoRecent technological advances have transformed the mobile phones from simple communication devices to pervasive computing devices. Today’s mobiles are equipped with a great variety of hardware, such as high definition cameras, GPS receivers, WiFi capabilities, NFC chips, 3G/4G mobile network connections, compass, accelerometers etc. Those sensors collect a huge amount of information about mobile device’s user and her environment (user’s context), for example, the location, current day and time, device’s orientation, if she is on the move and how fast, the current task (e.g. talking, typing text) etc. Besides the automatically generated information, users keep a lot of personal information on their mobile devices like communication history, short messages, photos, emails, music and videos, reminder and calendar events etc. If we combine the user’s context with the stored social information, a dynamic context is created, which can be termed the user’s mobile social context. The aim of this PhD thesis is the exploitation of user’s mobile social context in order to support the extraction of personal information from mobile computing devices. As an example of personal information, this thesis studies the support of user’s communication by extracting the desired contacts. However, the same methodology applies to all kinds of personal information like photos, videos, music etc. First of all, real mobile usage statistics from two different datasets were analyzed in order to design and implement a new prediction algorithm of the future user’s communication on mobile devices. Secondly, a comparison between the proposed algorithm and relative algorithms was conducted. Then, a system for mobile devices that embeds the proposed algorithm was developed. At the same time, adaptive interfaces for the presentation of the proposals of the algorithm were designed and evaluated, conducting both lab and field experiments. Chapter 1 presents the current status in the field of mobile computing devices, in terms of hardware, mobile networks and mobile operating systems. The terms “context” and “context aware” systems are also briefly presented. Finally, Chapter 1 presents the research question of this thesis and its research contribution. Chapter 2 presents the related work in the field. First, the terms “context” and “context aware” are discussed in detail and then the terms of “mobile” and “social context” are introduced. The chapter discusses proposals for retrieving and modeling the user’s context, giving detailed information about the mobile user’s context. Also, in the same chapter, examples of context aware systems are presented, focusing mainly to context aware systems for communication management and contacts retrieval. Finally, novel, adaptive, context aware interfaces are also presented. Chapter 3 presents the first part of the thesis’ research. A new algorithm for the task of contacts retrieval is proposed. In order to choose the proper dimensions of the user’s context for the specific task, an analysis and examination of two different dataset is perfomed. The first dataset is preliminary and it is collected in the context of this thesis. The second one is provided by NOKIA and is the outcome of a large scale initiative that took place in Geneva area of Switzerland, the NOKIA Lausanne Data Collection Campaign. A comparative evaluation of the proposed algorithm against the two mentioned datasets is finally performed. Finally, a comparison of the proposed algorithm with similar approaches and algorithms is presented. In Chapter 4, the design and implementation of a Google Android system for contacts retrieval from mobile computing devices is presented. A set of context aware adaptive interfaces for contacts retrieval was designed and developed, to make use of the algorithm discussed in Chapter 3. These interfaces were tested using a large scale field experiment (1 month duration) in order to evaluate the system in real conditions and with real users. During the experiment, anonymous usage statistics from users were collected and a questionnaire for the qualitative evaluation of our system was also distributed. In the final chapter (chapter 5), the conclusions of the thesis and future work suggestions are presented.
