Résumé :
Solid waste dumpsites are areas where waste is thrown away, stored, and disposed of. Improper solid waste dumpsites pose a major risk to both human health and the environment. The objective of this paper is to study the environmental and health effects of a solid waste dumpsite in Wadajir District, Mogadishu, Somalia. The study utilized a prospective case-control analytic approach as well as a cross-sectional study to assess the impact of these dumpsites on the environment. The findings of the study revealed that in Wadajir district, the majority of people believed that improper solid waste management leads to water and air pollution; similarly, in Dharkeynley district, the majority of respondents believed that improper solid waste management leads to water and air pollution. The study has also revealed in Wadajir district that the majority of the population was affected by malaria during the last six weeks, while in Dharkeynley district, the majority of the population was also affected by this disease, showing that there is a significant association between improper waste disposal and the transmission of malaria. These findings demonstrate that solid waste management is a crucial issue that affects both the environment and human health in the district. The study paper recommends protecting public and environmental health by reducing risks caused by improper solid waste management. It suggests opening landfills in remote areas without habitation and proper monitoring to minimize the impact on nearby residents.

Résumé :
Impact assessment was carried out on the zooplankton diversity of Pohra, Wadali and Chhatri surface water reservoirs around Amravati with respect to their physico-chemical characteristics. During course of study zooplankton were represented by five major groups i.e. Ostracoda, Rotifera, Cladocera, Protozoa and Copepoda. High value of physico-chemical parameters and low zooplankton diversity were recorded in Chhatri reservoir, moderate in Wadali lake and low value of physico-chemical parameters and high zooplankton diversity were recorded in Pohara lake. The Chhatri reservoir was found to contain most of the pollution indicator species. Wadali reservoir also exhibited few pollution tolerant species. Prominent among them were Ceratodaphnia, Lepadella, Monostyla, Rotarria, Cyclops, Diaptomus and Ectocyclops. The water in all the reservoirs was found to be eutrophic in the order of Pohra > Wadali > Chhatri.

Résumé :
The present study was carried out to assess the planktonic diversity and seasonal variations in the physic-chemical characteristics of Pohra, Wadali and Chhatri surface water reservoirs around Amravati during June 2014 to May 2015. During the course of study the zooplankton in the reservoir under investigation is represented by five major groups i.e. Ostracoda, Rotifera, Cladocera, Protozoa and Copepoda. Among phytoplankton a total of 28 algal species were recorded from all the reservoirs under study with 14 taxa from Chlorophyceae, 9 taxa from Bacillariophyceae and 8 from Cyanophyceae. The Chhatri reservoir was found to contain most of the pollution indicator species. Wadali reservoir also exhibited few pollution tolerant species. The water in all the reservoirs was found to be eutrophic in the order of Pohra > Wadali > Chhatri.

Résumé :
This article presents a comprehensive examination of the historical and contemporary dynamics of governance in Somalia. It begins with a review of the country's socio-political landscape, highlighting the impact of the civil war, the emergence of clan-based territories, and the rise of non-state actors. The article then traces the evolution of Somali governance from independence to the present day, emphasizing the transition from a centralized authority to a federal system. The role of external stakeholders in Somalia's reconciliation and recovery process is thoroughly analyzed, drawing attention to the complex influences of international and regional actors. A key focus of the article is the formation of the third tier of government in Somalia, the district council, under the Wadajir framework. The challenges faced by this newly established entity, including clan-based conflicts and a fragile revenue system, are discussed in detail. At the same time, the potential of the district council in fostering improved local government actions, encouraging community engagement in development and ensuring fairer resource distribution is underscored. The article concludes with a forward-looking discussion on the prospects of inclusive governance and local empowerment in Somalia's future. This comprehensive analysis serves as a valuable resource for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners interested in Somali politics and governance

Résumé :
Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease that reappears after they have been on a significant decline occurring worldwide and a source of multi-billion- dollar loss and human fatality yearly. The situation is worse in developing countries like Somalia, where lower knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of the people is impending. A cross sectional survey was conducted between January 2022 and June 2022 to assess the knowledge, attitude and practices towards tuberculosis among 171 household heads in Wadajir district Mogadishu, Somalia. A structured questionnaire was designed, pretested and self-administered to household heads. Human TB was recognized by 157(91.8 %) of household heads, while only 34(19.9%) had heard of animal TB. In the present study, 121(70.8%) of household heads had not considered bovine Tb as zoonosis. Majorities of respondents indicated that they have acquired the awareness about TB from Family/neighbors that accounts for about 80(46.8%), and only 38(22.2%) of them got information from radio/TV. Knowledge on the infectious cause of human and animal TB was known by 4.7%. However, misperceptions such as weather and toxins were also implicated as causes of human TB. In the present study, a significant proportion (48.5%) of the study population used to consume raw milk that was studied as the sources of infection to TB. Herein, the majority of household heads have indicated inhalation (57.3%) and contacts (23.4%) as means of transmission of human tuberculosis and only (15.7%) of respondents mentioned consuming raw animal products. In conclusion, as the bovine tuberculosis is less aware as well as misperception about cause, ways of transmission and prevention towards human tuberculosis on household heads. Thus, it is highly necessary to convey public health education to assemble public awareness about the transmission, etiology, predisposing factors of infection and its prevention and control in the study area.
