Recently, <span>pattern division multiple access (PDMA) is a non-orthogonal multiple access system that is now being developed in next-generation telecoms to address the requirement for mass connectivity. The core premise of non-orthogonal multiple access is to simultaneously serve multiple users with varying power levels across the same spectrum resources such as time, frequency, code, as well as space with minimal inter-user interference. A simulation analysis of significant technology enhancements focusing on PDMA aims to describe the benefits of the two plans now being examined by the third-generation partnership project for 5G technologies, namely filtered orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (F-OFDM) and windowed orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (W-OFDM), and to compare them to alternative modulation processes such as 16, 32, and 128 modulations. The research results explained the PDMA is less bit error rate used in multiple access technologies compare with W-OFDM and F-OFDM.</span>

The 5G wireless access technology will supersede its predecessor, 4G, in the current decade, at first coexisting with it and later as a standalone technology. This work examines and compares the performance of the following orthogonal multicarrier schemes: Cyclic Prefix Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (CP-OFDM), Windowed Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (W-OFDM), Filtered Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (F-OFDM), Universal Filtered Multi-Carrier (UFMC), and Filter Bank Multi-Carrier (FBMC). The system architecture of each scheme is investigated while considering the performance in fading channel models. The simulation was performed using a standard set of parameters, and the performance was appraised based on Power Spectral Density (PSD), Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR), Complementary Cumulative Distribution Function (CCDF) of PAPR, Bit Error Rate (BER), and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). In addition, a comprehensive analysis is presented concerning filter or window implementation, filtering method, orthogonality, roll-off rate, spectral leakage, spectral efficiency, computational complexity, and runtime complexity. Based on the results, each scheme has its advantages and disadvantages compared with the other methods. FBMC, F-OFDM, and W-OFDM are preferred for better spectrum utilization, transmission accuracy, and power efficiency, respectively. UFMC offers a fine balance between these multicarrier schemes. Therefore, the modulation scheme for the future physical layer will strongly depend on the requirements.

Résumé :
The greatest advantages of optical fibers are the possibility of extending data rate transmission and propagation distances. Being a multi-carrier technique, the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) can be applicable in hybrid optical-wireless systems design owing to its best spectral efficiency for the interferences of radio frequency (RF) and minor multi-path distortion. An optical OFDM-RoF-based wireless local area network (W-LAN) system has been studied and evaluated in this work. The outline for integrating an optical technology and wireless in a single system was provided with the existence of OFDM-RoF technology and the microstrip patch antenna; these were applied in the Optisystem communication tool. The design of the proposed OFDM-RoF system is aimed at supporting mm-wave services and multi-standard operations. The proposed system can operate on different RF bands using different modulation schemes like 4,16 and 64QAM, that may be associated to OFDM and multidata rates up to 5 Gbps. The results demonstrate the robustness of the integrated optical wireless link in propagating OFDM-RoF-based WLAN signals across optical fibers.

Convergence of communication and sensing is highly desirable for future wireless systems. This paper presents a converged millimeter-wave system using a single orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveform and proposes a novel method, based on the zero-delay shift for the received echoes, to extend the sensing range beyond the cyclic prefix interval (CPI). Both simulation and proof-of-concept experiments evaluate the performance of the proposed system at 97 GHz. The experiment uses a W-band heterodyne structure to transmit/receive an OFDM waveform featuring 3.9 GHz bandwidth with quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM). The proposed approach successfully achieves a range resolution of 0.042 m and a speed resolution of 0.79 m/s with an extended range, which agree well with the simulation. Meanwhile, based on the same OFDM waveform, it also achieves a bit-error-rate (BER) 10−2, below the forward error-correction threshold. Our proposed system is expected to be a significant step forward for future wireless convergence applications.

This paper presents a technique that enables both efficiency and linearity enhancements of power amplifiers (PA) used in communication systems. It consists in the implementation of a dynamic bias control combined with digital base-band predistortion. The aim of this paper is to describe a methodology and successive steps of the design procedure to reach optimum performances in terms of power added efficiency (PAE) and linearity. It is here applied to a 100 W wide-band lateral diffused metal oxide semiconductor (LDMOS) push–pull amplifier (50–500 MHz) driven by orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals. When the amplifier is driven by a continuous wave (CW) signal and operates at a constant 28 V drain bias voltage, it exhibits 100 W output power and 60% PAE. When it is driven by an OFDM signal, a 10 dB output power back-off is necessary to have a −25 dBc adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) and PAE decreases down to 10%. By properly implementing an envelope tracking bias system, 40 W output power along with 38% PAE and −27 dBc ACPR have been reached. Applying base-band digital predistortion provides additional linearity improvements at high PAE (for only one point PAE lost, a 5 dB improvement is obtained for ACPR).
