The paper deals with images of non-Germanic ethnic communities in the Habsburg empire conservative historiography in the first three decades of the 19th century, based on Croatian and Serbian cases. The article depicts and analyses shipping in the Habsburg Monarchy. It is closely related to the overseas companies, one of which was Cunard Line. This shipping company was founded in the 19th century and as one of the ﬁ rst with other shipping companies occupied an important position in emigration trafﬁ c from the European continent.
