Résumé :
Background: Intravascular lymphoma is a rare and aggressive disease with abnormal lymphocytes confined within blood vessels. Cutaneous findings are common in the presentation of this disease. Objectives: The objectives of this article are (1) to describe a case of intravascular lymphoma treated with chemotherapy and rituximab and (2) to review the literature with respect to skin findings and outcomes of these patients after chemotherapy. Patient: Our patient had an unusual presentation of intravascular lymphoma characterized by tender, slightly indurated plaques composed of dense telangectatic vessels. Results: Our patient responded to combination chemotherapy with the addition of a partial course of rituximab (anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody). Conclusion: Intravascular lymphoma commonly presents with skin findings of tender indurated plaques and nodules. Although a number of clinical variations exist, telangectatic plaques are rarely described. Including our case, 50 patients have been reported after treatment with chemotherapy. Approximately 46% of treated patients exhibit either partial or complete response to chemotherapy. This is die first reported case of intravascular lymphoma treated successfully with the addition of rituximab. Overall, this malignancy remains an unusual and aggressive disease. Recognition of the cutaneous findings and early treatment with chemotherapy may alter the course of this disease. Rituximab may be an important addition to combination chemotherapy in treating intravascular lymphoma.

Any single system whose space of states is given by a separable Hilbert space is automatically equipped with infinitely many hidden tensor-like structures. This includes all quantum mechanical systems as well as classical field theories and classical signal analysis. Accordingly, systems as simple as a single one-dimensional harmonic oscillator, an infinite potential well, or a classical finite-amplitude signal of finite duration can be decomposed into an arbitrary number of subsystems. The resulting structure is rich enough to enable quantum computation, violation of Bell’s inequalities, and formulation of universal quantum gates. Less standard quantum applications involve a distinction between position and hidden position. The hidden position can be accompanied by a hidden spin, even if the particle is spinless. Hidden degrees of freedom are, in many respects, analogous to modular variables. Moreover, it is shown that these hidden structures are at the roots of some well-known theoretical constructions, such as the Brandt–Greenberg multi-boson representation of creation–annihilation operators, intensively investigated in the context of higher-order or fractional-order squeezing. In the context of classical signal analysis, the discussed structures explain why it is possible to emulate a quantum computer by classical analog circuit devices.

Résumé :
Array sensor failure poses a serious challenge to robust direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation in complicated environments. Although existing matrix completion methods can successfully recover the damaged signals of an impaired sensor array, they cannot preserve the multi-way signal characteristics as the dimension of arrays expands. In this paper, we propose a structural-missing tensor completion algorithm for robust DOA estimation with uniform rectangular array (URA), which exhibits a high robustness to non-ideal sensor failure conditions. Specifically, the signals received at the impaired URA are represented as a three-dimensional incomplete tensor, which contains whole fibers or slices of missing elements. Due to this structural-missing pattern, the conventional low-rank tensor completion becomes ineffective. To resolve this issue, a spatio-temporal dimension augmentation method is developed to transform the structural-missing tensor signal into a six-dimensional Hankel tensor with dispersed missing elements. The augmented Hankel tensor can then be completed with a low-rank regularization by solving a Hankel tensor nuclear norm minimization problem. As such, the inverse Hankelization on the completed Hankel tensor recovers the tensor signal of an unimpaired URA. Accordingly, a completed covariance tensor can be derived and decomposed for robust DOA estimation. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Résumé :
Multi-channel audio signals provide a better auditory sensation to the audience. However, missing data may occur in the collection, transmission, compression, or other processes of audio signals, resulting in audio quality degradation and affecting the auditory experience. As a result, the completeness of the audio signal has become a popular research topic in the field of signal processing. In this paper, the tensor nuclear norm is introduced into the audio signal completion algorithm, and the multi-channel audio signals with missing data are restored by using the completion algorithm based on the tensor nuclear norm. First of all, the multi-channel audio signals are preprocessed and are then transformed from the time domain to the frequency domain. Afterwards, the multi-channel audio with missing data is modeled to construct a third-order multi-channel audio tensor. In the next part, the tensor completion algorithm is used to complete the third-order tensor. The optimal solution of the convex optimization model of the tensor completion is obtained by using the convex relaxation technique and, ultimately, the data recovery of the multi-channel audio with data loss is accomplished. The experimental results of the tensor completion algorithm and the traditional matrix completion algorithm are compared using both objective and subjective indicators. The final result shows that the high-order tensor completion algorithm has a better completion ability and can restore the audio signal better.

Résumé :
In this paper, we study the joint range and angle estimation problem based in monostatic frequency diverse-array multiple-input multiple-output (FDA-MIMO) radar, and propose a method for range and angle estimation base on compressed unitary parallel factor (PARAFAC). First, the received complex signal matrix is stacked into a third-order complex signal tensor. Then, we can transform the obtained third-order complex signal tensor into a third-order real-valued signal tensor by employing forward–backward and unitary transformation techniques. Next, a smaller third-order real-valued signal tensor is composed by using compressing the third-order real-valued signal tensor. After that, PARAFAC decomposition is applied to obtain the direction matrix. Lastly, the angle and range are estimated by employing the least square (LS) fitting. The estimation error of the proposed method is about 10% lower than that of the traditional PARAFAC method under the low number of snapshots. When the number of snapshots is high, the performance of the two methods is close. Moreover, the computational complexity of the proposed method is nearly 96% less than those of the traditional PARAFAC methods in the case of low snapshots, while the gap is larger in the case of high snapshots. The superiority and effectiveness of the method are proved by complexity analysis and simulation experiments.

Résumé :
In this paper an efficient method for signal change detection in multidimensional data streams is proposed. A novel tensor model is suggested for input signal representation and analysis. The model is built from a part of the multidimensional stream by construction of the representing orthogonal tensor subspaces, computed with the higher-order singular value decomposition (HOSVD). Parts of the input data stream from successive time windows are then compared with the model, which is either updated or rebuilt, depending on the result of the proposed statistical inference rule. Due to processing of the input signal tensor in the scale-space, the thumbnail like output is obtained. Because of this, the method is called a thumbnail tensor. The method was experimentally verified on annotated video databases and on real underwater sequences. The results show a significant improvement over other methods both in terms of accuracy as well as in speed of operation time.

Résumé :
Abstract This paper studies the two-dimensional DOA estimation of coherent targets. Subspace algorithm is usually used to solve this problem. Compared with subspace algorithm, tensor decomposition has significant advantages in estimation accuracy and has been widely used in the field of signal processing. However, the research on tensor decomposition algorithm mainly focuses on incoherent targets. Therefore, we study how to use the advantages of tensor decomposition to improve the estimation accuracy of coherent targets. Firstly, we construct the echo signal model corresponding to the “Sum array” of MIMO radar, and then use the spatial smoothing to process the data to solve the problem of covariance rank deficiency. Then a third-order tensor is constructed according to the position relationship of the data. Finally, the DOA can be estimated from the decomposed tensor according to the position relationship of the data. Simulation results show that proposed algorithm has significant advantages in estimation accuracy.

Résumé :
Abstract We study the cosmological propagation of gravitational waves (GWs) beyond general relativity (GR) across homogeneous and isotropic backgrounds. We consider scenarios in which GWs interact with an additional tensor field and use a parametrized phenomenological approach that generically describes their coupled equations of motion. We analyze four distinct classes of derivative and non-derivative interactions: mass, friction, velocity, and chiral. We apply the WKB formalism to account for the cosmological evolution and obtain analytical solutions to these equations. We corroborate these results by analyzing numerically the propagation of a toy GW signal. We then proceed to use the analytical results to study the modified propagation of realistic GWs from merging compact binaries, assuming that the GW signal emitted is the same as in GR. We generically find that tensor interactions lead to copies of the originally emitted GW signal, each one with its own possibly modified dispersion relation. These copies can travel coherently and interfere with each other leading to a scrambled GW signal, or propagate decoherently and lead to echoes arriving at different times at the observer that could be misidentified as independent GW events. Depending on the type of tensor interaction, the detected GW signal may exhibit amplitude and phase distortions with respect to a GW waveform in GR, as well as birefringence effects. We discuss observational probes of these tensor interactions with both individual GW events, as well as population studies for both ground- and space-based detectors.

In this letter, we put forward a novel tensor-based Multiple Signal Classification (TB-MUSIC) applicable to a vector hydrophone array. For this purpose, the signal subspace is derived from the higher order singular value decomposition (HOSVD) of the third order tensor of the output model. Then the proposed method is achieved by signal subspace projection weighted with the reciprocal of principal singular values multiplying by the spatial spectrum based on TB-MUSIC. The synthetic spatial spectrum shows higher resolution and robustness under no-ideal scenarios. Monte Carlo experimental results are provided to illustrate the better performance of the proposed method.

AbstractThe observation of gravitational waves by the three LIGO-Virgo interferometers allows the examination of the polarization of gravitational waves. Here, we analyze the binary neutron star event GW170817, whose source location and distance are determined precisely by concurrent electromagnetic observations. We apply a signal accumulation procedure to the LIGO-Virgo strain data and find that the measured LIGO-Livingston signal is substantially reduced in certain frequency intervals due to real-time noise subtraction. We obtain ratios of the signals detected by the three interferometers excluding these “depleted” regions from the data analysis. We find that the signal ratios are inconsistent with the tensor polarization predictions of general relativity and Einstein’s theory is ruled out at 99% confidence level. Moreover, we find that the signal ratios and distance to the source are consistent with the vector theory of gravity (Phys Scr 92:125001, 2017) and that vector GW polarization is favored over tensor polarization and scalar polarization with exponentially large Bayes factors. If, however, we erroneously include in the data analysis the frequency regions in which the Livingston signal is depleted by noise filtering, we reproduce the result of the LIGO-Virgo collaboration favoring tensor GW polarization over vector polarization with an exponentially large Bayes factor.

Résumé :
In this paper, we proposed an image inpainting algorithm, including an interpolation step and a non-local tensor completion step based on a weighted tensor nuclear norm. Specifically, the proposed algorithm adopts the triangular based linear interpolation algorithm firstly to preform the observation image. Second, we extract the non-local similar patches in the image using the patch match algorithm and rearrange them to a similar tensor. Then, we use the tensor completion algorithm based on the weighted tensor nuclear norm to recover the similar tensors. Finally, we regroup all these recovered tensors to obtain the final recovered image. From the image inpainting experiments on color RGB images, we can see that the performance of the proposed algorithm on the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and the relative standard error (RSE) are significantly better than other image inpainting methods.

Résumé :
In geophysics exploration, using gradient tensor instead of the full magnetic field gradient has many advantages, which magnetic gradient tensor data to better describe small anomalies. However, the measurement of magnetic gradiometer contains a very complex motion noise, separating the motion noise from the signal component is a large challenge. In this paper, we show the expression for the magnetic gradient tensor, and then through model tests proved the Kalman filter good filtering effect.

Résumé :
Nowadays, the joint estimation of time delay (TD) and angle of arrival (AOA) using conventional vector structure suffers from the considerable complexity of multidimensional spectrum search. Therefore, a fast estimation method using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology and uniform planar array (UPA) is proposed in this paper, which adopts low-complexity tensor-based operations and spatial-frequency features to reconfigure the channel frequency response. To begin with, the array response is integrated with the OFDM signal characteristics to build an extended array in tensor form. Afterwards, we process the covariance matrix of the tensor structure by CANDECOMP/PARAFAC decomposition (CPD) to separate the respective signal subspaces of TD and AOA estimates. Finally, we conduct a one-dimensional (1-D) spectrum search to locate the TD estimates and a two-dimensional (2-D) spectrum search to locate the AOA estimates. The simulated performance demonstrates that the proposed algorithm offers precise estimates at low signal-to-noise ratios in a multipath environment and outperforms traditional vector-based algorithms with respect to computational complexity.

Résumé :
In the paper, the estimation of joint direction-of-departure (DOD) and direction-of-arrival (DOA) for strictly noncircular targets in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar with unknown mutual coupling is considered, and a tensor-based angle estimation method is proposed. In the proposed method, making use of the banded symmetric Toeplitz structure of the mutual coupling matrix, the influence of the unknown mutual coupling is removed in the tensor domain. Then, a special enhancement tensor is formulated to capture both the noncircularity and inherent multidimensional structure of strictly noncircular signals. After that, the higher-order singular value decomposition (HOSVD) technology is applied for estimating the tensor-based signal subspace. Finally, the direction-of-departure (DOD) and direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation is obtained by utilizing the rotational invariance technique. Due to the use of both noncircularity and multidimensional structure of the detected signal, the algorithm in this paper has better angle estimation performance than other subspace-based algorithms. The experiment results verify that the method proposed has better angle estimation performance.
