Abstract Abstract 5113 Background Toto is a primitive Indo-Bhutanese tribe residing in a small enclave called Totopara in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, India. Toto culture and language is totally unique to the tribe, and is clearly distinguished from the neighboring Rajbongshis, Koch or the Bhutanese Sharchop tribes. Totos use to do consanguineous marriage and stay in the same locality even after marriage. Totos are becoming extinct since 1950. Total population of Totos are 1377 (smallest tribe of the world) and it is declining day by day. We noticed that their life span is very short (35-40 years). With a motive to investigate the reason behind it we started our work and got the answers of our queries. Almost 50% of them are carrier of beta Thalassemia, which is a genetic disease and are caused by the mutation of beta globin gene. The objectives of our study are, Materials & Methods After awareness program, 3-4 ml of blood sample was collected from each Toto along with their written consent. On the spot inexpensive NESTROF (Naked Eye Single Tube Red Cell Osmotic Fragility) test was done. After returning to institute we use to do CBC (Complete Blood Count) followed by HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography). DNA was isolated from those samples detected as carrier or patients using the protocol standardized in our lab. Mutation was detected by ARMS (Amplification Refractory Mutation System)–PCR. Conclusion Total individual already screened in the Totopara under the age limit 10- 35 years is 688. Number of Totos and Non-Totos are 628 and 60 respectively. From NESTROFT and CBC result it was revealed that different blood parameters e.g., MCV, MCH, RBC, RDW, Hb% etc of 71% Totos do not match with the normal value and found to be significantly altered. HPLC results show that 51% Totos are carrier of HbE and 20% of them are HbE homozygous. Whereas 97% non-Totos are found to be normal. DNA analysis by ARMS-PCR confirmed the result of HPLC. The percentage of HbE carrier and HbE homozygous is very high among Totos and this is the real cause of their early death. To protect this primitive tribe we have to restrict their marriage between two carriers. For Totos thalassemia carrier detection should be mandatory before marriage. Abstract It is estimated that approximately one out of every three Peruvians does not utilize healthcare services when facing an ailment. Nevertheless, this frequency could be higher in highland regions, given the limited availability of healthcare services. The aim was to estimate the prevalence of non-utilization of healthcare services among elderly residents of a Peruvian highland community during 2022. We conducted an analytical cross-sectional study in the district of Totos (average altitude of 3286 meters above sea level) in the Ayacucho region of Peru during 2022. A census sampling method was employed, including residents aged 60 and older in Totos. Non-utilization of healthcare services was defined as a participant not seeking healthcare services when facing a health issue. The current study was approved by the Institutional Research Ethics Committee of Universidad Científica del Sur. We evaluated 272 elderly adults with an average age of 74 years, of which 60.3% were female, 62.5% were cohabiting or married, 82.3% had not completed primary education, and 65.4% reported being beneficiaries of a social program for economic support. We found that 28.3% did not use healthcare services, while 44.9% reported using traditional medicine, and 13.2% practiced self-medication. Participants reported that the nearest health center to their residence was, on average, 55 minutes away. We found that approximately one out of every five elderly adults did not use healthcare services. It is necessary to reduce cultural barriers to increase healthcare service utilization, as well as to enhance their availability for elderly individuals living at high altitudes.

Background: Ethno-medicinal practices has been widely using by the people of every corner of the world. Tribes are not exceptional from this. Totos are residing at the Alipurduar district of the state West Bengal. They strongly believe the natural resources of the earth like wind, water, fire and forest. They living totally forest oriented life. Ethno-medicine also somehow depends upon the natural resources as well as various types of plants.Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study design has been employed for this present study. The study has been done among the 152 families. Apart from this the data regarding various types of diseases and their curing system has been gathered through interview and observation methods. Schedule and questionnaire method has been also employed to collect data of disease pattern and their treatment system.Results: It has been observed that 15.13%, 53.29% and 31.58% families believe on ethno-medicine, both ethno-medicine as well as modern medicine and only modern medicine accordingly.Conclusions: Basically, the people called Ojha who practices ethno-medicine among the Toto tribe. There 5 ethno-medicinal practitioners are present who tremendously struggle to cure the patients as soon as possible by their skill and medicinal plants.

En el año 2012, durante la construcción de la carretera que conectaría las capitales de los distritos de Chuschi y Totos, dejaron al descubierto restos arqueológicos, específicamente en el lugar conocido por la población como Chullkumayu. Estos restos fueron hallados en las coordenadas UTM 565821 E, 8497275 N, a 2 941 m.s.n.m., en la margen derecha de la subcuenca del río Chullkumayu, en la margen izquierda de la cuenca alta del río Pampas. Políticamente, se encuentra en la jurisdicción de la comunidad campesina de Quispillaccta, distrito de Chuschi, provincia de Cangallo y región de Ayacucho. Se encuentra a 4 km aproximadamente al Oeste de Quispillaccta, a 2 km aprox. al Sureste de Pirhuamarka y a 3 km aprox. de Llacctahurán.

Tribal people having common issues related to poor health indicator, high morbidity and mortality level and lack of proper health care services (Govt. of India, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, 2013). This paper aims to examine socio-economic conditions of tribal people among totopara village community and to find out factors affecting health status and their access to health care facilities. Totopara which is a small village under Madarihat police station of the district of Alipurduar which lies between 89°20’ East latitude and 26°50’ North longitude. The Totos have resided at the foothills of the Himalaya closed to Bhutan in a small village named Totopara in Alipurduar district of West Bengal since time immemorial. The Totopara is administratively under Ballalguri Gram Panchayat (JL No-33) which lies on the western bank of Torsa River. Their marginalisation is an underlying cause of poor health limiting their opportunities to present their own perspectives of their situation. It is not a surprising fact that the incidence of health-related issues is found more among the toto tribal community because of their biophysical attributes and the state of vulnerability which further makes them more vulnerable group among the tribal people. The acute problem of them is examine in the research work also. The problems of their health are listed. There is a need of long-term policy intervention to promote better living standards and better reproductive health through educational development. It is high time and states should act swiftly to assess the needs, priorities of their own tribal population and set goals, targets to achieve the same through proven public health strategies.

A pesquisa trata sobre a história das cooperativas de crédito, conhecidas como Caixas Rurais, formadas nos Estados de Rio Grande do Sul e Santa Catarina nas primeiras décadas do século XIX. As Caixas Rurais formadas no Brasil seguiam o modelo de instituições que existiam na Alemanha, sistema Raiffeisen. Eram iniciativas de agricultores imigrantes alemães e seus descentes que se organizaram pelo princípio de ajuda mútua, por orientação de agentes religiosos católicos, Jesuítas. Os objetivos das Caixas Rurais eram amenizar as dificuldades econômicas dos trabalhadores rurais e estabelecer laços de solidariedade para estruturação de comunidades eclesiais. O desenvolvimento das Caixas Rurais promoveu a formação de uma Central de Caixas que fomentou a colonização de novas áreas. A metodologia usada consistiu na leitura de obras historiográficas regionais e internacionais, além da leitura de trabalhos de outras áreas, especialmente aqueles ligados a economia e teologia. Foram utilizadas também obras raras e fontes primárias consultadas em diversos arquivos, bibliotecas e museus do Brasil e da Alemanha, como relatórios das instituições, artigos de jornais e revistas. A tese conclui que o sentido das Caixas Rurais se forma em dois aspectos: o material, voltado para as dificuldades econômicas; o espiritual, direcionado para conduta religiosa concebida pelos agentes religiosos católicos.

Abstract : The research is about the history of credit unions, known as Rural Banks, formed in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina in the first decades of the nineteenth century. The Rural Banks formed in Brazil followed the model of institutions that existed in Germany, Raiffeisen system. They were initiatives from German immigrants and their descendants, farmers who were organized by the principle of mutual help, for guidance of Catholic religious agents, the Jesuits. The objectives of the Rural boxes were ameliorate the economic difficulties of rural workers and establish bonds of solidarity for structuring ecclesial communities. The development of Rural Boxes promoted the formation of a Central that promoted the colonization of new areas. The methodology used consisted of the reading of regional and international historical works, besides reading the works of other areas, especially those related to economics and theology. Rare books and primary sources consulted in various archives, libraries and museums in Brazil and Germany, as reports of institutions, articles for newspapers and magazines were also used. The thesis concludes that the rural banks acted in a double sense: the material, facing economic difficulties; the spiritual, directed to religious conduct designed by Catholic religious agents.

This project examines a collective construction of knowledge in which everyone learns and everyone teaches. A comparison between two private universities, is established regarding the methodological strategies used concerning the learning how to learn of the student as well as the teacher, taking into account the daily problems faced in a classroom throughout this so-called learning-teaching process, considering the pupils, the professors and the coordinators points of view. Thus, different kinds of researches are considered, such as: qualitative, the study is defined as exploratory and descriptive. The target audience are the graduating students of the following courses: Technology in Software Development and Computer Science, training professors and coordinators. This research is a transversal study, in which the data was collected in December, 2006, as a result of an interview made with 83 respondents (coordinators, professors and students) of the quiz. Another quiz made of two different parts was also used. The first part consisted of personal information, while the second one was more focusing on educational data. In the second part of this quiz we found 10 multiple-choice questions, in which 4 sub-questions were asked, in each sub-question we had 5 alternatives of answers (totally disagree, disagree, neutral, agree and totally agree). These questions allowed me analyze the profile of the professors concerning how they teach and also the students´ profile concerning their participation in the learning process. Through this study it was possible to observe the characteristics of the interactions experienced along the course. We observed that the first university makes use of a modern educational approach, adequate to the actual needs of the world we live in, developing, as a consequence, competence and abilities in the students closely connected to the reality, while in the second university keeps the traditional pedagogical discourse, teacher-centered, motivating students to memorize and having the professor as a mere instrument used to pass information.
O trabalho analisa a construção coletiva do conhecimento: todos aprendem e todos ensinam numa comparação entre duas Instituições de Ensino Superior, uma que utiliza e outra que não estratégias metodológicas centrada no aprender a aprender do aluno e do professor, levando em consideração os problemas da vida diária utilizadas em sala de aula no processo de ensino-aprendizagem, a partir da percepção do próprio corpo discente, docente e coordenações. Considera-se o tipo de pesquisa qualitativa, sendo um estudo exploratório-descritivo. A população-alvo está delimitada aos alunos concluintes dos cursos de Tecnologia em Desenvolvimento de Software e de Informática Sistemas de Informação, dos professores e dos coordenadores de curso e pedagógico. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, tendo a coleta de dados limitada ao mês de dezembro de 2006, quando foram entrevistados 83 respondentes (coordenadores, professores e alunos). A pesquisa de campo fundamentou-se em um questionário composto por duas partes, a primeira dos dados pessoais e a segunda, dos dados da pesquisa educacional, com 10 perguntas e cada uma com 4 sub-questões contendo 5 alternativas de resposta (discordo plenamente, discordo, neutro, concordo e concordo plenamente) que possibilitaram analisar o perfil dos docentes quanto à sua forma de ensino e a dos alunos quanto à sua participação no processo de aprendizagem que fornecem dados para se avaliarem as características das interações vividas entre eles ao longo do curso. Constatamos que a primeira IES utiliza a gestão educacional atual, moderna e adequada as necessidades reais do mundo em que vivemos, desenvolvendo nos alunos competências e habilidades afinadas com a realidade em que vivemos enquanto que a segunda, continua com o discurso pedagógico tradicional, centralizar, estimulando a memorização do aluno enquanto o professor é um mero repassador de informações.

Die Dissertation versucht einerseits die Form, die Methode und die Struktur von Philoponos Kommentar zur Physik neu zu interpretieren und andererseits seine Theorie des Ortes (Topos) eingehend zu untersuchen. Das Buch besteht aus fünf Kapiteln und es enthält ein Vorwort, einen Epilog und ein Literaturverzeichnis. Philoponus schlägt eine doppelte Ortsbestimmung vor. Er unterscheidet zwischen dem Ort, der leer ist, der dreidimensionalen Erweiterung, die sich ontologisch von Körpern unterscheidet, und dem Begriff des Ortes, der von Körpern erfüllt wird. Philoponos strebt danach die Beziehung zwischen dem Ort und dem Körper neu zu definieren und unterstreicht den ontologischen Unterschied, den eine körperlose Erweiterung von einer körperlichen Erweiterung haben sollte. Die Arbeit konzentriert sich auch auf Philoponos Kritik an der Definition von Ort laut Aristoteles und an der Peripatetischen Tradition (Eudemos, Themistios) bezüglich des Ortes des Himmels. Abschließend kommt das Buch zu dem Schluss, dass Philoponos Strategie sowohl in den Exkursen des Kommentars als auch in gewissen Teilen seiner Exegese in drei Stufen dargestellt werden kann: Er weist erstens die Gültigkeit der Kritik von Aristoteles und Themistios gegen das Konzept der lokalen Erweiterung zurück; zweitens greift er die aristotelische Definition des Ortes an, indem er seine Schwächen und Unstimmigkeiten mit der Natur der Dinge zeigt; und drittens stellt er seine eigene Theorie des Ortes dar. Das Ergebnis ist ein wertvolles Argumentarium über den Ort und ein wichtiger Beitrag für die Physik der Spätantike.
The dissertation attempts to interpret afresh, on the one hand, the form, methodology and structure of Philoponus’ commentary on the Physics and, on the other hand, to study in depth his theory of place (topos). The book extends over five chapters and includes a preface, an epilogue and a bibliography. Philoponus attempts a double determination of place. He distinguishes between the place which is void, three-dimensional extension that is ontological different from bodies, and the concept of place that is filled by bodies. Philoponus wishes to redefine the relationship between place and body and he underlines the ontological difference that a bodiless extension should have from a bodily extension. The thesis also focuses on Philoponus’ critique of Aristotle’s definition of place and the Peripatetic tradition (Eudemus, Themistius) regarding the place of the heavens. The book concludes that, Philoponus’ strategy in the digressions of the commentary, but also in certain parts of his exegeses, can be seen in three stages: first, he repudiates the cogency of Aristotle’s and Themistius’ critique to the concept of local extension; second, he attacks the Aristotelian definition of place by showing its weaknesses and inconsistencies with the nature of things; and third, he establishes his own theory of place. The result is a valuable set of arguments regarding place and a major contribution to the physics of late antiquity.

Este trabalho explora o processo de ensino de música nas bandas filarmónicas em Portugal, através de métodos qualitativos e quantitativos. Parte de um estudo de caso realizado na Banda dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Ílhavo – Música Nova, inserindo-se no âmbito do projeto MIMAR, em curso no Instituto de Etnomusicologia – Centro de Estudos em Música e Dança, na Universidade de Aveiro. As Bandas Filarmónicas são instituições seculares responsáveis pela formação inicial de grande parte dos instrumentistas de sopro em Portugal. O desinteresse que os estudos musicológicos revelaram por esta realidade musical explica-se pela persistência de um paradigma essencialista da cultura que exclui as práticas situadas entre os domínios erudito e folclórico. Enquadra-se num estudo mais amplo que compreende a atividade filarmónica no concelho de Ílhavo. O meu contributo circunscreve-se ao ensino-aprendizagem de música nas bandas filarmónicas e à atividade performativa da Música Nova ao longo de 2012, procurando averiguar o impacto que a formação de músicos nas bandas filarmónicas teve e tem na vida musical em Portugal, nomeadamente na formação de músicos profissionais.
This study explores the process of teaching music in the community bands in Portugal, through qualitative and quantitative methods. It is part of a case study conducted in Banda dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Ílhavo – Música Nova and it is part of one ongoing project in Ethnomusicology Institute - Center for Music and Dance at the University of Aveiro. The Wind Bands are secular institutions, responsible for the initial training of most wind players in Portugal. The disinterest musicological studies revealed by this reality is explained with the persistence of essentialist a cultural paradigm that excludes practices situated between academic and popular domains. It fits in a larger study comprising Philharmonic activity in the municipality of Ílhavo. My contribution is limited to the teaching and learning of music in the wind bands and to the performative activity of Banda dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Ílhavo – Música Nova throughout 2012, trying to ascertain the impact of the musical education in the wind bands in the musical life in Portugal, particularly in the training of professional musicians.

La ergonomía es un eje de formación para los diseñadores de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Mediante la enseñanza remota, se diseñó la Cátedra Ergonomía para Todos en el marco de una modalidad que trata grandes problemas de artes: la Cátedra Marta Traba. Se inscribieron y cursaron la asignatura 300 estudiantes de 42 pregrados de la Sede Bogotá y múltiples niveles de matriculación. Se introdujeron a los estudiantes a la Ergonomía a través del diseño de los productos, procesos y servicios; para esto, nueve módulos agruparon conocimientos muy potentes, Actividad Física y Rendimiento Deportivo, Artefactos, Ambiente Construido y Actividad, son algunos ejemplos. Con 47 invitados nacionales e internacionales y gracias a la formación remota de la cátedra, se potenció el uso de TICs. El apoyo de cinco estudiantes con altos méritos académicos, recursos de la Escuela de Diseño y la Dirección Académica de Sede contribuyeron con un robusto programa de formación. La cátedra equivalió a tres créditos cursados y fue un éxito entre los estudiantes. Esto ocurrió en buena parte por las estrategias de enseñanza implementadas: plataformas LMS, vídeos, páneles, casos de ejemplo y talleres que buscaron que lo doméstico y lo cotidiano en medio de pandemia fueran objetos académicos, de calidad, válidos y accesibles.

La decisión de Pedro Castillo de cerrar el Congreso, que desde el comienzo actuó de manera obstruccionista e intentó una y otra vez destituirlo, fue un salto al vacío que acabó con la detención del mandatario. Proveniente del Perú profundo, el presidente nunca pudo armar un gobierno y se recostó en un círculo opaco de colaboradores que acabó generando un fuerte aislamiento del jefe de Estado. La nueva presidenta se enfrenta hoy con fuertes protestas que demandan la disolución del Congreso, más impopular que Castillo, y el adelanto electoral para 2023, en un nuevo capítulo de una sucesión de crisis políticas que llevó a la mayoría de los expresidentes a la prisión.

The amount of scientific information has been growing exponentially. It became more complicated to process and systemize this amount of unstructured data. The approach to systematization of scientific information based on the ontological IT platform Transdisciplinary Ontological Dialogs of Object-Oriented Systems (TODOS) has many benefits. It has been proposed to select semantic characteristics of each work for their further introduction into the IT platform TODOS. An ontological graph with a ranking function for previous scientific research and for a system of selection of journals has been worked out. These systems provide high performance of information management of scientific information.

Los libros presentan una progresión fonemática de complejidad creciente. El recorrido inicia con los fonemas de mayor transparencia, alta recurrencia y cuyo sonido se puede extender. Los fonemas y su representación gráfica, en minúscula y mayúscula, se abordan a través de un personaje que hace parte del parque natural de Aprendamos Todos a Leer.
