Çalışma, tasarımcı adaylarına verilen bir proje konusunun tasarımcıların sahip olduğu tinsel yaklaşımlar ile değerlendirilmesi üzerine kurgulanmıştır. Tasarımcılar kendilerine verilen konuyu temel tasarım elemanlarından biri olan “değer” ilkesini kullanarak çalışma alanına yönelik yapılan alan analizini tinsel yaklaşımlarla değerlendirerek iki farklı alan analiz modeli (renkli ve renksiz) geliştirmişlerdir. Çalışmada tasarımcılardan istenilen soyut düşünceleri somutlaştırarak peyzaj mimarlığı projelerinin ilk aşamasında kullanılan alan analizine farklı bir kavramsal açıdan ele almalarıdır. Bu doğrultuda ele alınan alan analizi yaklaşımlarında tasarımcıların doğaya sıklıkla öykündüğü gözlemlenirken sahip oldukları tinsel yaklaşımlarıda rahatlıkla tasarıma aktarabildikleri görülmüştür. Sonuç olarak bireylerin sahip olduğu tinsel yaklaşımının hem peyzaj mimarlığı eğitiminde verilen proje tasarım eğitimi ile birleştirebildikleri hem de tasarımlarında “doğaya öykünme ile bireysel özgünlük” ün bir arada kullanılabilecekleri görülmüştür.

During a butterfly survey in the remote village of Gailung in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, one Common Tinsel was recorded on 27th March 2023. The butterfly was photographed and identified with the help of field guides as Catapaecilma major Druce, 1895 (Lepidoptera, Lycaenidae). The habitat was adjacent to local terrace farmland and was dominated by plants such as Ageratum conyzoides, Oxalis sp., Urtica sp., Fluggea virosa, and Bauhinia variegata. The butterfly was observed resting on the leaves of Ageratina adenophora. and was noted for its swift flight. The current communication highlights the first observation of Common Tinsel from the Garhwal Himalaya after 1930s.

Phillips, writing in 1987, maintains that NATO had as great a moral duty to check this political ambition as it had to check Soviet military aggression. He suggests ways to reaffirm the rule of law and the commitment to social justice and to build such values into Western foreign policy, rather than use them as public relations tinsel.

The article examines the wearing of festive headgear as a way of understanding contemporary organizational rituals, pointing to analogous historical practice, which reveals the way that power is deployed while seeming to be relaxed. It categorizes the display behaviour associated with this apparent suspense of organizational power through four types of headgear and will trace the historical antecedents of such behaviour. It goes on to say something about the organizing of social interaction and fun and the deployment of the body in contemporary organizations. The headgear I shall consider includes paper crowns, Father Christmas hats, tinsel halos and reindeer antlers.

Which is the primal sin, pride or idolatry? The Augustinian tradition highlights pride, an emphasis reinforced by theological critiques of modernity. However, the Old Testament and Romans 1 point to idolatry as the fundamental form of sin. Analysis of Augustine's account of human acts, the nature of evil, and the structure of sinful love frames a close reading of one of the most famous episodes in his Confessions, the youthful theft of pears. In this autobiographical reflection, Augustine illuminates the paradox of pride. Self-love is unstable, and it resolves into the pursuit of finite goods that we wrap in the false tinsel of imagined divinity. In this way, Augustine's phenomenology of pride is consistent with the biblical consensus that idolatry is the primal expression of sin.

ABSTRACT: Ingmar Bergman’s 1953 Gycklarnas afton [Sawdust and Tinsel] is a film that has received little attention, despite major critics’ agreement that it is a masterpiece, Bergman’s first classic. To ascertain why it warrants the critical acclaim of most serious film scholars, this article uses a close-reading methodology to examine four different aspects of the work: the frequent occurrence of metafilmic moments, the radically experimental Frost and Alma sequence, the film’s extensive and complex use of mirrors, and the unusual editing and shot compositions that mark the beginning and end of the film. These strategies document a self-reflexive aesthetic, a thorough-going preoccupation with the notion of performance both within and outside theatrical institutions, presenting a tacit argument for the impossibility of authentic subjectivity, the importance of the mask. Ultimately the film presages precisely those elements of Bergman’s later production that have made him one of the most important figures in twentieth-century film.

It is generally stated without qualification that Fielding was a great admirer of Handel. This is understandable given that his works of the 1740s and 1750s are replete with praise of the composer. Curiously, however, during the 1730s, his compliments to Handel are few and far between. True, in his ballad operas from that period, he borrowed a number of the composer's melodies, but in multiple instances, he attached comic lyrics that mocked their seriousness. This paper contends that Fielding's apparent change in attitude in the 1740s was rooted in Handel's own change as he moved away from Italian opera and toward English oratorio. While Fielding was critical of the former, the latter genre aligned with his aesthetic ideal, which favored word-centric music performed in English with a minimum of “Tinsel, or . . . Ostentation.” Indeed, it is arguable that in his ballad-opera adaptations of Handel, which he often assigned to performers whom Handel also employed, Fielding was prefiguring on a lesser scale what would later make Handel his ideal of all an English composer should be.

The modernization of the world's tinsel goes so quickly and dynamically, the rapid development will have an effect on the order of human life. This condition has an impact on the Anak Dalam Tribe (SAD) so that it is increasingly left behind because of its inability to keep up with the changes that occur. This research aims to analyze internal and external problems that are inhibiting and driving factors in the process of transitioning the order of life in the Anak Dalam Tribe (SAD) and analyze the role of muhammdiyah in helping prepare for social transition and inclusion in the life of the Anak Dalam Tribe (SAD). This research uses qualitative methods that are exploratory. Sampling is carried out using purposive sampling and snowball sampling approaches conducted by in-depth interview methods, questionnaires, and documentation on respondents and those related directly. The scope of the objects in this study was limited to one group of Anak Dalam Tribe (SAD) and communities domiciled in Dwi Karya Bakti Village, Kec. Pelepat, Bungo Regency. Analyzed through internal and external analysis as well as qualitative descriptive analysis.

Following World War II, Ebony's creator and editor, John H. Johnson, sought to create a popular black magazine in the vein of Life and Look that would reflect the accomplishments and joys, “the happier side,” of African American life.1 Throughout the first four years of its publication, Lena Horne appeared on the magazine's cover three times – the only woman to do so during this period. In this paper, I argue that the fledgling Ebony magazine drew on Lena Horne's wartime status as a beautiful black icon and represented her as a symbol of its ideological project, broadly, and as the Ebony image of postwar black womanhood, specifically. The magazine's representation of Lena Horne acts as a useful trope for understanding how Ebony imaged postwar black femininity in terms of motherhood, work, and civil rights activism; additionally, Ebony's representation of Horne and Ebony readers' letters to the editor reveal central issues of respectability, pinup photography, colorism, hair care, and interracial relationships as they were debated within the magazine's pages.Behind the lavish make-up, gay tinsel and brilliant glitter of American's most popular Negro entertainer, Lena Horne is a wonderfully human, somewhat lonesome, amazingly-honest, militant-minded personality who is relatively unknown to a vast audience of millions of movie, radio, and night club fans.2

Existing research on British cinema during the 1940s has often assumed an opposition between realism and fantasy or, as it is also known, ‘realism and tinsel’. However, through an analysis of contemporary critical reception and censorship discourses, it becomes apparent that this division was nowhere near as clearly defined as is often argued. While the ‘quality’ realist film of the 1940s demonstrates a concern with verisimilitude and the reproduction of the surface appearances of reality, when confronting the darker aspects of reality, realism was deemed to be far more closely associated with the horrific. Following a number of decisions made by the British Board of Film Censors (BBFC) which were heavily criticised by the local authorities and the press, the Board became increasingly wary of these horrific confrontations with the everyday. The release of The Snake Pit (1948) in the UK sparked a series of debates in the press, with one side questioning the suitability of a film dealing with the particularly sensitive subject matter of mental illness for the purpose of shocking and horrifying audiences, and the other side championing the maturity shown by Hollywood when dealing with an important social issue. This article therefore looks beyond traditional perceptions of 1940s British cinema in order to demonstrate a shift in the role played by both realism and horror in the post-war period.

The ultrastructure of the zoospore of Hyphochytrium catenoides Karling is described. The zoospore has a single, anterior, tinsel flagellum. The nucleus is elongate and convoluted with an indentation at the anterior end in which the Golgi cisternae are located. There are large lipid globules in the posterior end of the cell. The ribosomes are loosely enclosed by endoplasmic reticulum, the nuclear envelope, and mitochondria. The mitochondria have tubular cristae in a dense matrix. Microbodies are found appressed to the nuclear envelope and also free in the ribosomal region. Endoplasmic reticulum sheets traverse the ribosome region. The vesiculate cytoplasm has several distinct types of membrane-bound inclusions: (i) multivesicular bodies, (ii) vesicles containing presumptive mastigonemes, (iii) vesicles having an electron-dense cortex with an electron-transparent center, and (iv) electron-opaque vesicles whose contents seem condensed and only partially fill the vesicles. The transition zone from the flagellum to the kinetosome has three segments: a distal set of struts extending from the axonemal doublets into the axoneme core, a midsection of electron-opaque rings, and a distinctive "disclike" terminal plate with a thickened portion between the doublets and the flagellar membrane. The three-part rootlet system has (i) a "ribbed" pair of microtubules on one side of the kinetosome, (ii) a curved "ribbed," single microtubule with electron-opaque backing which originates near the nonfunctional centriole, and (iii) a straight doublet of microtubules without ribs extending from the nonfunctional centriole posteriorly to the midregion of the zoospore.

Bu çalışmanın amacı “Endüstriyel Uygarlık Karşısında Bilgeliğin Konumu”nu G. Marcel bakış açısıyla analiz etmektir. Modern dünyada insanın karşılaştığı temel bir problem söz konusudur. Teknolojinin hızlı ilerleyişi, endüstrileşmeye neden olmaktadır, endüstrileşme ise insanın ontolojik ve ahlaki yapısını farklı açılardan etkilemektedir. Toplumsal bir varlık olarak insan, bilim ve teknolojinin hızlı yükselişine ayak uydurabilmeye çalışmakta, ilgilendiği konularda başarılı olduğu sürece değer görmektedir. Modern insan yaşadığı toplumun üst beklentilerini karşılamaya çalışırken büyük ölçüde kendi benliğini geliştirmekten ve tinselliğinden uzaklaşmaktadır. Birbiriyle yarış halinde olan insanlar daha fazlasına sahip olma çabasının yarattığı değersizlik hissi ile içsel bir arayış içine girmektedir. Batı felsefesi geleneğinde, özellikle “insan olma” sorununa “kişisellikten uzak yaklaşılması”, zamanın koşullarına paralel olarak insanı nesneleştirme yaklaşımının ön plana çıkmasına neden olmuştur. Bu durum, araçsalcı bir kültüre doğru ilerleme anlamına gelmekte ve kişisel özneyi sadece işlevlerine indirgeyerek yaşamaya zorunlu kılmaktadır. Dolayısıyla modern toplumda faydalı olamayan, işlevlerini gereği gibi yerine getiremeyen her birey gözden çıkarılması kolay bir “nesne” haline dönüşmektedir. Bilim ile teknolojinin hızlı yükselişinin ve propaganda tekniklerinin etkisinde kalan insan her geçen gün “indirgeme teknikleri” yoluyla insan atığı bir ürün haline gelmektedir. Kısacası modern dünyada insan varoluş amacından hızla uzaklaşmaktadır. Bu noktada çözüm, bilgelik anlayışıdır. İnsanın ontolojik olarak tamamlanma isteğinin ahlaki ve ontolojik/ metafizik değerlere bağlanarak çözümlenebileceğini düşünen Marcel’e göre bilgelik uzun, zorlu ama bir o kadar da mutluluk veren bir yoldur. Bilgelik yolunda yürüyen kişi, teknolojiyi reddetmeden ancak toplumsal ve ahlaki problemlere de duyarsız kalmadan, insanlığa yardımcı olma amacını ilke edinerek yaşamını fiziksel ve tinsel bütünsellik halinde sürdürebilmektedir.

The installment widely considered the best of the series—“Pat Hobby and Orson Welles,” which appeared in Esquire in May 1940—attracts attention mostly because of its historical importance: as its title suggests, it contrasts Fitzgerald’s hapless, aging Hollywood hack to the real-life wunderkind director who was in 1939 arriving in Tinsel Town on a whirlwind of publicity over his accomplishments in the theater and on the radio. “Pat Hobby and Orson Welles” offers a timely, often arch take on the artistic type that Welles quickly came to epitomize: the auteur, the creative genius who proves every bit as erratic and quixotic as he is visionary. Only six months after Fitzgerald’s death on 21 December 1940, Welles’s masterpiece Citizen Kane would open to critical acclaim but a disastrous box office run, due mainly to libel threats from William Randolph Hearst, the ostensible inspiration for its titular character. While Fitzgerald did not live to see Welles’s landmark film or the director’s subsequent tempestuous career, “Pat Hobby and Orson Welles” identifies many of the anxieties the industry would suffer over the unreliability and celebrity hyperbole that auteurs would generate as they threw production processes into upheaval by pursuing art. In the end, Orson Welles as Fitzgerald portrays him is no Monroe Stahr, the author’s image of the charismatic leader who in The Love of the Last Tycoon is at once a consummate artist and businessman.

Biblical noematic, that is, the science of the meanings of the Holy Scriptures, and heuristics, the science of finding these meanings, were central to the exegesis of Hrygorii Skovoroda. Under the influence of the teachings of the fathers of the Alexandrian school, they changed their methodological principles, transformed to a certain extent and moved towards a comprehensive allegory of the Holy Scriptures in the author's system of its interpretation. The true meaning of the Word of God lies under the tinsel of the material shell of the word, which Skovoroda calls figures, signs, symbols. Using images and symbols, Skovoroda explained the invisible nature, that is, the existence of God, Truth. To decipher the meaning of the figures means to discover the truth hidden in the Holy Scriptures. Trying to find the truth in the Holy Scriptures, Skovoroda superimposes his own already transformed allegorical constructions on biblical allegories, that is, he talks about allegories in terms of allegories, thereby not simplifying but complicating their meaning. For example, the image of a snake coiling in a ring and having a sharp look is a metaphorical personification of self-knowledge, self-view of the world. So, the image of a snake coiled in a ring symbolizes the general meaning of human life. It is difficult to understand, the philosopher notes, where the beginning and where is the end of a snake coiled in a ring, if you do not notice its head. It is equally difficult to understand eternity – it is everywhere and nowhere, because it is invisible and covers its hypostasis. Skovoroda regards the coils and rings of the snake as symbols of eternity, and therefore also symbols of the Bible itself. That is why the writer calls the Bible a snake and God at the same time. In the late Middle Ages, upon the establishment of Turkish rule in the central Balkans and the former territory of the Serbian Despotism, the not so many endowments of local greats were raised, in which art, in a more modest way, was still nurtured in the spirit of the Byzantine tradition. The Krepicevac Monastery is an endowment to the history of little known Georgio, Jan's son, as it stands in fragments of a preserved inscription. There are also mentions of Zora and Manojlo, and it would be assumed that they are members of one family. The fresco composition of donors shows Georgio singled out for dominance, carrying the model of the temple in the hands he offers to the Virgin. It does not deviate from the set norms in the depictions of the endowers, whether they are local lords or members of high nobility. These portraits pay special attention to the clothes of the founders, which have some deviations from the known fashion of the medieval lords, as a result of the influence of new trends. The work originated with the idea of analyzing the clothing and jewelry of the tinsel and finding parallels with the clothing of endowers of the late XV and XVI centuries. Caftan is a new garment originated in the Eastern tradition. The richness of floral motifs and prints indicates of the more expensive fabrics of their garments preserved probably for the most festive occasions. The very act of donating, famous as the way of clothing, respects the canons in portraiture in paintings. It illustrates the power of this great local man and his family, who was well versed in the Christian tradition, but also in the fashion of their time.

Bilinen ana akım psikoloji ekollerinin birçoğu, dine ve maneviyata karşı mesafeli duruşuyla bireyi genel olarak pozitivist bir yaklaşımla inceler. Nefspsikolojisi ekolü ise insan doğasını diğer ekollerden farklı bir anlayışla ele alır. Bu çerçevede, her ekolün kendine özgü bir teorik arka planı ve uygulama tekniği vardır. Nefs psikoterapisi de bu ekolün pratik uygulamasıdır. Jewish center of lacemaking in Sasov, founded in the mid-nineteenth century by Marcus Leib Margulis. In process of research were used archive materials, sources of the first third of twentieth century, particular works of Peter Kontny, publications in periodicals and works of leading researchers of Jewish textiles. The sources of research are art objects of Jewish lacemaking from museum and private collections. It was founded that in village of Sasiv in period of the heyday of production in the second half of nineteenth century, was working near 250 masters, who made elements of ritual costumes. The main assortment of products was Atara for Thales, men's kippah, women's shabbat hats and bibs. Technique of making lace of the Sasov center is called “Spanier Arbeit”. The origin of the term is quite controversial today; it also is associated with the definition of “Spanish Work” and with Yiddish terminology “wickerwork”. Lace of Sasov belongs to the braded type of silver threads with flat cross section – tinsel. The article analyzes the artistic features of Atara – rectangular “crown”, “collar" which was sewn to the prayers veil of the thallas in the part which covered the head. The tradition of performing atars has a long history that is confirmed by different miniatures of medieval books, portraits of Jews in ritual costumes, as well as saved samples. The decoration of atara is dominated by plant ornament, usually in Baroque style. The images of roses, sunflowers, pomegranates, rosettes have a deep symbolic meaning in Jewish culture and appeals to biblical and Talmudic texts as well as oral tradition. High skills of making the lace and their artistic features indicate the professionalism of cell masters. Preserved monuments are unique examples of decorative art of Galician Jews.

Исследована возможность повысить эффективность очистки макулатуры марки МС-7Б от тонера, нанесённого на лазерном принтере путём сухого двухстадийного диспергирования перед флотацией. Использовалась макулатура с разным уровнем запечатанности с одной стороны бумаги: 2,5%, 3,9, 8,2, 60%. Степень запечатанности офисной макулатуры определяли с помощью программы «lpSquare v5.0 for Windows» как отношение площади запечатанной области к общей площади листа (в %). Уровень очистки макулатуры от вкраплений тонера определяли с помощью графической программы, которая позволяла установить площадь области чёрного цвета. Установлено, что разработанная технология подготовки макулатурной массы, включающая двухстадийное сухое диспергирование и последующую флотацию, эффективно удаляет вкрапления тонера в образцах бумаги. Вкрапления тонера в образцах бумаги, полученной из макулатуры облагороженной флотацией с предварительным двухстадийным сухим диспергированием, практически отсутствуют, в отличие от образцов бумаги из макулатуры, облагороженной стандартной флотацией. Оценка механических свойств образцов бумаги осуществлялась по изменению показателей – сопротивления продавливанию и сопротивления разрыву. Показано, что подготовка макулатурной массы методом флотации с предварительным сухим дисперированием способствует небольшому повышению механических показателей образцов бумаги. Механические показатели образцов бумаги практически не зависят от уровня запечатанности макулатуры. The possibility of improving the efficiency of deinking «МС-7Б» grade recovered paper from toner applied on a laser printer by dry two-stage dispersion before flotation was investigated. Recovered paper was used with a different level of toner print on one side of the paper: 2.5%; 3,9%; 8,2%; 60%. The degree of toner prints of office recovered paper was determined by the program «lpSquare v5.0 for Windows» as the ratio of the area of the printed area to the total area of the sheet in %. The level of cleaning recovered paper from toner embossments was determined using a graphic program that made it possible to establish the area of the black area. It has been found that the developed recovered paper stock preparation technology involving two-stage dry dispersion and subsequent flotation effectively removes toner print area in paper samples. Toner print area in samples of paper obtained from floated recovered paper with preliminary two-stage dry dispersion are practically absent, unlike samples of paper from recovered paper ennobled with standard flotation. Assessment of mechanical properties of paper samples was carried out by changing the values of bursting and tinsel strength. It is shown that preparation of recovered paper stock by method of flotation with preliminary dry dispersion contributes to small increase of mechanical indices of paper samples. The mechanical properties of paper samples practically does not depend on the level of toner print area of recovered paper.

Surveys to determine the incidence of tomato spotted wilt tospovirus (TSWV) in native plants, weeds, vegetables, and flowering ornamentals were done within or near horticultural properties in the Perth metropolitan area. Leaf or petal samples were tested for TSWV by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Samples from native plants and flowering ornamentals were also tested for impatiens necrotic spot tospovirus (INSV). Forty-two species of native plants were sampled from 17 sites. Of the 1590 plants sampled, only 1 plant of Calectasia cyanea (blue tinsel lily) was found to be infected. Weeds were sampled from 24 sites, and samples from 5543 plants in 45 species were tested. TSWV was found in 59 samples belonging to 16 different species from 8 sites. Among these, the highest virus infection levels at individual locations were in Arctotheca calendula (capeweed; 15%) and Sonchus asper (sowthistle; 32%). Vegetables were sampled from 28 sites, and samples from 3864 plants in 9 species were tested. TSWV was found in 309 samples from 22 sites. Those found to be infected were broad bean, capsicum, celery, chilli, eggplant, globe artichoke, lettuce, paprika, potato, and tomato. At individual locations, capsicum and tomato crops were sometimes 100% infected. Flowering ornamentals were sampled from 6 sites, and samples from 2698 plants in 16 species were tested. TSWV was found in 296 samples from 3 sites. Those found to be infected with TSWV were alstroemeria, calendula, Chinese aster, chrysanthemum, cosmos, dahlia, delphinium, gladiolus, snapdragon, statice, and zinnia. Highest incidences were in alstroemeria (32%), asters (81%), calendula (65%), chrysanthemum (30%), dahlia (28%), and statice (57%). No INSV was detected. In an infected calendula crop, TSWV infection declined sharply with distance from an aster infection source. Eight isolates of TSWV obtained from different weeds, vegetables, and flowering ornamentals differed widely in the severity of symptoms they induced in Nicotiana glutinosa, capsicum, and tomato. High incidences of TSWV were commonly associated with the presence of Frankliniella occidentalis (western flower thrips). Reservoirs of TSWV infection identified during the survey included infected planting stock and volunteer plants of vegetatively propagated flowering ornamentals, seedlings of vegetables previously infected in nurseries, old infected vegetable and flowering ornamental crops growing next to subsequently planted crops, and weeds. A control strategy involving the removal or avoidance of TSWV sources and vigilance to limit introduction of INSV on imported flowering ornamentals is discussed.

Using apps like Tinder is becoming increasingly popular, especially among youth. Although there is an increase in Tinder use, only a few studies have addressed the motives for using Tinder and the problematic use of Tinder. This study aims to examine the frequency of use and motives for the use of Tinder among young people and to examine the predictors of problematic use of Tinder. The research was conducted online, and the following measuring instruments were used: Tinder Use Motivation Scale, Problematic Tinder Use Scale and Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction and Frustration Scale. Participants (N = 191; F = 75.3%; Mage = 23.14, SDage = 2.779) stated that their most common reason for using Tinder is boredom, looking for an intimate partner, looking for a sexual partner, and finally improving self-esteem. The results on this sample show that women spend more time on Tinder than men, and men are more likely to look for a sexual partner than women. Participants who express a higher level of need for relatedness frustration, use Tinder to find an intimate partner or raise self-confidence, access it more frequently and spend more time on Tinder, show a higher level of problematic use of Tinder.

BackgroundIn carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) patients often report symptoms when elevating the arms, as in driving or phoning.In Hawkes test both forearms are squeezed firmly about 50 mm (2 inches) proximal to the patient’s wrist while simultaneously elevating the subject’s hands just above shoulder height. When positive there is tingling in a median nerve distribution within a few seconds.MethodsFifteen patients with suspected CTS were evaluated by a) Tinel’s, Phalen’s and Hawkes’ manoeuvres b) routine nerve conduction tests (NCT) then graded positive or negative and compared with NCT.ResultsPositive signs were present for Tinel in 14/15; Phalen in 8/10 and Hawkes in 15/15. NCT supported CTS in 9/15. Where NCT were abnormal Tinel and Hawkes signs were always positive but Phalen was negative in 2/7. Where NCT was normal (6/15) the negative/positive rates were: Tinel 1/5; Phalen 3/3; Hawkes 0/6.ConclusionAll three procedures, particularly Tinel and Hawkes had a high positive rate for CTS, but confirmed by NCT in only 6/15. However, NCT may be falsely negative especially in mild cases. The proposed arm elevation/compression test permits useful initial assessment of CTS although the false positive rate is probably high.

Signaled in its reputation as a “hookup app” or “sex app,” the mobile dating app Tinder has been accused of having ignited “hookup culture” associated with superficiality and sexual innuendo. However, little is known about how Tinder has obtained this notoriety and what Tinder is actually responsible for. This study analyzes talks about Tinder on Reddit (/r/Tinder), as part of Tinder culture where Tinder discourse and norms are established and shared in relation to broader youth pairing culture. Through a lens of feminist media scholarship, I show that an association between Tinder and hookups is couched in a gendered code of conduct, coolness. I argue that this gendered coolness in the economy of visibility of Tinder evokes and justifies misogyny online in line with the sexism inherent to hookup culture.
