Résumé :
The increasing importance of the Russian regions in increasing the efficiency of socio-economic development of the country actualizes scientific research on the balanced development of the regional economy and spatial coherence of economic processes. Within the framework of regional studies, both traditional and classical theories and new theoretical approaches to the problems of regional development are systematized and typologized. The article presents a fragmentary review of new theories and concepts of regional growth, including: the concept of sustainable development, cluster concept, the concept of "smart specialization", regional foresight, paradigms of studying the region as a quasi-state, quasi-Corporation, market area and region-society. The attention is focused on the theories of regional development cyclicity and studies related to the analysis of economic dynamics. The conclusion is made about the need for further research on the problems of interregional cooperation and the formation of regions as subjects of the common economic space.

Résumé :
Author analyses theories of social development and dominant development practice (dominant models of social development) from critical feminist perspective. The key problem of dominant development model is found to be an equation of social development with economic growth. Review of feminist theories of development from WID to GAD approach is given, and the author shows that these theories questioned economic growth theories by developing a concept of gender regimes which mediates distribution of economic benefit. From simple inclusion of women in development process, gender development theories moved to deeper investigation of these processes from gender perspective. In that manner, gender development theories became true critical theories which contribute to better conceptualization and practical planning of more human and sustainable development for society in general.

Résumé :
The article presents a theoretical analysis of contemporary models of persistent stuttering development in children and adults at the current period of development of science. The accumulated amount of scientific knowledge suggests that stuttering has a neurological basis: it is associated with disorders in the structure and function of the brain. On this basis, there have been emerged models of stuttering that link the cause of a speech disorder with an unstable speech motor system. Theories and models of stuttering based on cognitive and language processing are likely to be useful in that they have explanatory power in relation to the mechanisms that play an important role in the production of key symptoms of stuttering. Considering that stuttering is a complex disorder, the logical result of this was the proposal of multifactorial models of impaired speech fluency. The presented overview may be useful to psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, speech therapists, teachers, and practitioners interacting with children and adults with stuttering and other speech fluency disorders.

Résumé :
Abstract This article takes a long look at the law and development movement and its attempts to entrench the rule of law in developing countries in Asia via the means of legal technical assistance (LTA) designed to reform judiciaries and judicial bodies. It does so with special reference to Myanmar, being the latest instance of LTA in Asia. Currently there are more than 30 organisations working directly on rule of law LTA in Myanmar. Such efforts ought to represent the state of the art after half a century of LTA. The article looks at the trajectory of law and development since the 1960s, noting that the phases of law and development have led us through inaugural, critical, revivalist “moments” to a “post-moment” that appears to be pluralistic, and contextually nuanced. It notes that judicial reform has always featured in LTA through all of these “moments”, and discusses whether or in what circumstances judicial reform is the most desirable or justifiably prioritised approach to rule of law LTA. It concludes that in the current phase of law and development too much emphasis is placed on judicial reform, explaining why this is so and why other approaches could be more profitable. The argument leads to a conclusion that we might now usefully identify a “Burmese” moment in law and development—one in which we realise that one size will never fit all cases, that law and development is multi-faceted and needs to be broken down into distinct modes of operation. In this dispensation, the opportunity is offered to secure real and ongoing gains in rule of law technology.

Résumé :
Richard von Krafft-Ebing, Jean-Martin Charot, and Havelock Ellis were a few antecedents to Sigmund Freud in identifying, defining, and theorizing the development of homosexuality. However, the majority subscribed to the thought that homosexuality was congenital, albeit unnatural. Havelock Ellis offered some psychological considerations to the condition of homosexuality and was said to have paved the way for more significant developmental explanations that began with Freud. According to Caprio (1954) the congenital theories prior to Freud became “obsolete” (p. 3). Because of the contributions of Freud, psychoanalysts that followed him such as Sandor Rado, Edmund Bergler, Irving Bieber, Lionel Ovesey, and Charles Socarides, to name a few, took on views that homosexuality was developmental in nature. During the phallic phase of development Freud made a pivotal discovery about the oedipal complex. This and other theories of psychosexual development are overviewed. It is important to get an understanding of the basic construct of theory given the rise of deconstruction and reconstruction undertakings.

Résumé :
Rapid economic growth is a relatively recent phenomenon, which has been examined since the end of the 18th century. In the scientific literature researchers use the concept of “economic growth” and “economic development” when analyzing economic processes. “Economic growth”, as defined by Paul M. Romer occurs whenever people use resources and rearrange them in more valuable ways. Thus, economic growth means an increase in a real national income / national output. In contrast, economic development is an improvement of the quality of life and living standards, e.g. improvement of literacy, life expectancy, and approach to environmental issues. Economic development encircles a wider range of metrics than just gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, it is about actual standard of living, level of environmental standards, availability and quality of housing and other aspects. The article analyzes, compares and evaluates theories of economic growth and economic development in the context of sustainable development.

The article concerns theoretical positions on the influence of tourism on regional and local development. The adaptation possibilities of chosen regional development theories for the research needs of the tourism influence on regional development are presented. Four groups were analysed: 1) endogenous development theories 2) network development theories 3) economic base theories 4) polarisation theories. Using works based on these there has been an attempt to indicate the theoretical basis of tourism growth as a factor of regional development.
