Résumé :
A large amount of solid waste (SW) generation becomes inevitable for campus due to its population and variety of activities. Therefore, it is a challenge to develop and implement SW minimization plan to encourage sustainable campus practices. The aim of this study was to develop sustainable strategies to support this plan for Universitas Agung Podomoro (UAP) included evaluating the SW management condition by monitoring the SW generation and surveying the perception and willingness to participate of campus society. The results showed that the SW generation was 52.63 kg/day or 0.08 kg/person/day. The composition consisted of 32.29% biodegradable and 67.71% non-biodegradable. The recycling potential was 61.01% consisted of 22.28% composting and 38.73% recycling. The social survey showed that respondents had positive perceptions about SW minimization. The complete evaluation resulted in the development of strategies to decrease the SW generation rate, increase the recyclable material rate, and increase the participation of campus society.

Résumé :
Abstract Functions of automated Production Systems (aPS) can be realized by control software (SW), whose high quality and short development time are, therefore, vital. To achieve both, SW should be modular and, thereby, reusable. Static code analysis can help improve the modularization of existing software, e. g., by automatically analyzing control and information flow. However, manual code reviews are still typically required because planning a SW’s modularization requires a semantic understanding of its functionality. This paper presents an approach to, instead, identify SW functionality automatically and evaluates it with SW from three aPS manufacturers.

Résumé :
Reverse electrodialysis (RED) is a promising process for harvesting energy from the salinity gradient between two solutions without environmental impacts. Seawater (SW) and river water (RW) are considered the main RED feed solutions because of their good availability. In Okinawa Island (Japan), SW desalination via the reverse osmosis (RO) can be integrated with the RED process due to the production of a large amount of RO brine (concentrated SW, containing ~1 mol/dm3 of NaCl), which is usually discharged directly into the sea. In this study, a pilot-scale RED stack, with 299 cell pairs and 179.4 m2 of effective membrane area, was installed in the SW desalination plant. For the first time, asymmetric monovalent selective membranes with monovalent selective layer just at the side of the membranes were used as the ion exchange membranes (IEMs) inside the RED stack. Natural and model RO brines, as well as SW, were used as the high-concentrate feed solutions. RW, which was in fact surface water in this study and close to the desalination plant, was utilized as the low-concentrate feed solution. The power generation performance investigated by the current-voltage (I–V) test showed the maximum gross power density of 0.96 and 1.46 W/m2 respectively, when the natural and model RO brine/RW were used. These are a 50–60% improvement of the maximum gross power of 0.62 and 0.97 W/m2 generated from the natural and model SW, respectively. The approximate 50% more power generated from the model feed solutions can be assigned to the suppression of concentration polarization of the RED stack due to the absence of multivalent ions.

Résumé :
PurposeSolid waste (SW) is the result of rapid urbanization and industrialization, and is increasing day by day by the increasing number of population. This thesis paper emphasizes on the prediction of SW generation in the city of Dhaka and finding sustainable pathways for minimizing the gaps in the existing system.Design/methodology/approachIn this paper, the survey of different questionnaires of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) was conducted. The data of SW generation, for few years of each month, in the city of Dhaka were collected to develop a model named Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The ANN model was used for the accurate prediction of SW generation.FindingsAt first, by using the ANN model with the one hidden layer and changing the number of neurons of the layer different models were created and tested. Finally, according to R values (training, test, all) the structure with six neurons in the hidden layer was selected as the suitable model. Finally, six gaps were found in the existing system of solid waste management (SWM) in the DSCC. These gaps are the main barrier for the better SWM.Originality/valueThe authors propose that the best model for prediction is 12-6-3, and its training and testing results are given as 0.9972 and 0.80380, respectively. So the resulting prediction is so much close in comparison with actual data. In this paper, the opportunities of those gaps are provided for working properly and the DSCC will find the better result in the aspect of SW problem.

Nowadays, our world is more and more saturated with computing and communication capability, that is integrated with human users and with the environment. Electronic systems are no more stand-alone entities isolated from the physical reality. On the contrary, electronic systems permeate home automation, health care management, together with every day human life. As a result, modern embedded systems are highly heterogeneous, as they are composed of a mix of analog and digital HW, as well as embedded SW. Furthermore, the tight bound with the physical environment implies to take into account physical evolution during the design and verification phases. In this context, reuse is a very difficult task, as the components to integrate are highly heterogeneous. On the other hand, reuse is a winning approach to save design cost and time. Indeed, top-down approaches allow to optimize and configure each step of design, but any time that a component must be added or changed, the whole design flow must be undergone again. This thesis focuses on three main techniques for supporting reuse and integration in the context of embedded systems: co-simulation, interface generation and homogeneous formal representation. Co-simulation and interface generation preserve the high level of heterogeneity of the system, by allowing communication between heterogeneous components with a framework (co-simulation) or via generation of the necessary interfaces. A computational model is then proposed to model the heterogeneity in a homogeneous way. The starting heterogeneous components are automatically converted to the computational model, with transformations that preserve the starting behavior, thus supporting a fully bottom-up flow. The homogeneous description is then used as a starting point for automatic generation of code for simulation and validation of the integrated system, or for efficient execution as SW on massively parallel architectures. The whole flow is supported by automatic code generation tools, that enhance the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Résumé :
Preemptive Time Petri Nets (pTPNs) support modeling and analysis of concurrent timed software components running under fixed priority preemptive scheduling. The model is supported by a well established theory based on symbolic state-space analysis through Difference Bounds Matrix (DBM), with specific contributions on compositional modularization, trace analysis, and efficient over-approximation and clean-up in the management of suspension deriving from preemptive behavior. The aim of this dissertation is to devise and implement a framework that brings the theory to application. To this end, the theory is cast into an organic tailoring of design, coding, and testing activities within a V-Model software life cycle in respect of the principles of regulatory standards applied to the construction of safety-critical software components. To implement the toolchain subtended by the overall approach into a Model Driven Development (MDD) framework, the theory of state-space analysis is complemented with methods and techniques supporting semi-formal specification and automated compilation into pTPN models and real-time code, measurement-based Execution Time estimation, test-case selection and sensitization, coverage evaluation.

Résumé :
This chapter describes the convergence of two influential technologies in the last decade, namely data mining (DM) and the Semantic Web (SW). The wide acceptance of new SW formats for describing semantics-aware and semistructured contents have spurred on the massive generation of semantic annotations and large-scale domain ontologies for conceptualizing their concepts. As a result, a huge amount of both knowledge and semantic-annotated data is available in the web. DM methods have been very successful in discovering interesting patterns which are hidden in very large amounts of data. However, DM methods have been largely based on simple and flat data formats which are far from those available in the SW. This chapter reviews and discusses the main DM approaches proposed so far to mine SW data as well as those that have taken into account the SW resources and tools to define semantics-aware methods.

Résumé :
Co-design embedded system are very important step in digital vehicle and airplane. The multicore and multiprocessor SoC (MPSoC) started a new computing era. It is becoming increasingly used because it can provide designers much more opportunities to meet specific performances. Designing embedded systems includes two main phases: (i) HW/SW Partitioning performed from high-level (eclipse C/C++ or python (machine learning and deep learning)) functional and architecture models (with virtual prototype and real prototype). And (ii) Software Design performed with significantly more detailed models with scheduling and partitioning tasks algorithm DAG Directed Acyclic Graph and GGEN Generation Graph Estimation Nodes (there are automatic DAG algorithm). Partitioning decisions are made according to performance assumptions that should be validated on the more refined software models for ME block and GGEN algorithm. In this paper, we focus to optimize a execution time and amelioration for quality of video with a scheduling and partitioning tasks in video codec. We show how they can be modeled the video sequence test with the size of video in height and width (three models of scheduling tasks in four processor). This modeling with DAG and GGEN are partitioning at different platform in OVP (partitioning, SW design). We can know the optimization of consumption energy and execution time in SoC and MPSoC platform.
