Résumé :
Analysis of unmeasured flow rates in watershed with the Syntetic Hydrograph Unit (SUH) Method is the most practical and simple method. This method requires watershed characteristics as river length and watershed area. Calculation and flow rate data are very useful in the development of water resources science and civil building planning especially in water construction work. Today, the Syntetic Unit Hydrograph (SUH) Method has been widely developed and most recently the ITB-1 Syntetic Unit Hydrograph (SUH) Method. The reliability of SUH ITB-1 in Sungai Tapung Kanan and Sungai Tapung Kiri shows good performance. This is indicated by the accuracy of the volume of the Tapung Kanan River 96.30% and the accuracy of the Tapung Kiri River 99.88%. The volume control ratio / direct run off (DRO) Sungai Tapung Kanan 1,00006 and Sungai Tapung Kiri 1,000088 (close to 1). While the peak discharge produced by Tapung Kanan River is 39,950 m3/ sec and Tapung Kiri River is 38,867 m3/sec.

Résumé :
This paper compares the results of direct runoff obtained by a numerical model of the shallow water equations (SWE) with the synthetic unit hydrograph (SUH) methods generally used in Indonesia. It is known that such SUH methods are still empirical, thus making it difficult for users to determine a representative method. Meanwhile, the hydrodynamic approach such as the SWE numerical model can achieve more accurate results in predicting the direct runoff compared to the SUH methods, because the model itself is derived mathematically based on the physical processes. The findings indicate that the direct runoff predicted using the SWE numerical model (HEC-RAS 5.0.7) produced more accurate results for the peak discharge with an average error of -0.07%, the peak time with an average error of 19.77%, and the shape of the hydrograph with the smallest Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) from all the cases tested. Therefore, it can be concluded that in the future the use of a hydrodynamic approach is highly recommended for the direct runoff prediction. This paper was also aimed to be used as a reference in the development of new, more accurate SUH method in the future.

Résumé :
Abstract This study aims to assess various empirical synthetic unit hydrograph (SUH) methods and find the best method. Ideally, each river should have a definite rain gauge station (RGS) to get sufficient rainfall data that is available for carrying out meaningful analysis. The provisions of Indian Standard (IS) 4987:1994 determined the optimum number of RGS. In the absence of RGS, the SUH is recommended. SUHs have been developed using various methods such as Snyder's, Taylor and Schwarz, Soil Conservation Service, Mitchell's and Central Water Commission (CWC). In the present study, the Rel River Basin (RRB) is considered as the study area which has two existing RGS. IS 4987:1994 suggested that four RGS are required for more reliable rainfall data. Various efficiency criteria such as Correlation Coefficient, Pearson Coefficient, Nash Sutcliffe Efficiency, Index of Agreement, Normalized Root Mean Square Error, Mean Absolute Error, Root Mean Square Error and Kling-Gupta Efficiency have been used to compare SUH methods. The ranking of SUH methods was reported based on the compound factor (CF) through efficiency criteria. The 1.125 CF was observed as the minimum for the CWC method and recommended for determining peak discharge and timing for the study area.

Résumé :
Formulating the inventory of relevant commodities to assess the life cycle of goods or services (LCI) is highly demanding on time and resources (Suh et al., 2004). Collected information is not always satisfactory to take account of all possible sources of environmental burdens (E-burdens) produced in the commodity supply chain. Several pre-assessment methods have been proposed to serve this function, although these have identified limitations; lack of previous experience and use of subjective cut off criteria are the most frequent weaknesses found (Suh, 2006). An objective pre-assessment method was developed as part of a life cycle analysis (LCA) for different pigmeat supply chain (PSC) scenarios.

Résumé :
This research aimed to investigate the characteristics of watershed morphometry that affect the main parameter that forms the Nakayasu Synthetic Unit Hydrograph (SUH). The result is will support the modification modeling of Nakayasu SUH. The formulation of time like (in the Nakayasu SUH) itself consists of the physical characteristic such as the main river length (L) that is limited regarding the category of main river length such as L > 15 km and L < 15 km. Due to the specific characteristics of the Nakayasu SUH formulation, this research will focus on the development of the Nakayasu SUH formulation by modification by adding the watershed characteristic parameter to the time lag (tg). This research was conducted in the 23 watersheds in Indonesia, which have the Automatic Water Level Recorder (AWLR) and Automatic Rainfall Recorder (ARR). However, this research is conducted on the 7 morphometry and time lag data that are watershed area (A), the length of the main river (L), river slope (I), river density (D), the river length to the eight point of watershed (Lc), the factor of H (H = L.Lc), watershed perimeter (O = O), and time lag. The time lag of each watershed is analyzed using the straight line method; however, the watershed morphometry data is analyzed by using the software of ArcGIS and analyzing the river/drainage density and the factor of river length and river length to the weight point of watershed. The results show five morphometry variables that very influenced the time lag (one of the variables in the Nakayasu SUH model): A, Lc, H, L, and O. The other two variables are not affected by the time lag: D and K.

Résumé :
The Kayan Watershed in Bulungan Regency is the largest river in North Kalimantan which has the potential for flooding in several irrigated points. Kayan River is a flood-prone area and prioritized to be handled immediately because there is already a smooth life for the community. Potentially need to know the great potential of flooding in the Kayan River. To find out the relationship between flood discharge and flood time, the Synthetic Unit Hydrograph calculation method is used. The aim is to determine the shape and results of peak discharge in Synthetic Unit Hydrograph Y (SUH). This study uses a debit calculation in the Kayan watershed using Snyder HSS a nd Nakayasu HSS. From the calculation results obtained Snyder SUH peak discharge of 118.0 m3/ sec at 73.85 hours, and Nakayasu SUH has a peak discharge of 109.35 m3 / sec at 54.09 hours.

Résumé :
Persistent, unchanging, and non-reactive focal or generalized abnormal Slow Wave (SW) activities in an awake adult patient are examined pathologically. Although these waves in Electroencephalogram (EEG) are much less prominent than transient activities in some areas, it is not possible to understand them easily by looking at the EEG. For this reason, reliable computer programs that can sort out Slow Waves (SWs) correctly are needed. In this study, a new method based on MinPeakProminence that can detect abnormal SW activities was developed. To test the performance of the study, the data collected from Selcuk University Hospital (22 subjects - epilepsy and various neurological diseases) and Bonn Hospital (only normal A dataset) were used. Various statistical performance measurement methods were used to search the results. The results of this analysis revealed that the classification success, sensitivity and specificity values obtained with the SUH dataset were 96.5%, 93.3% and 96.1%, respectively. In the results of the experiments made with the Bonn dataset, 100% classification success was achieved. Besides, according to the analyses, it was found that SWs are frequently seen in the posterior regions of the brain, especially in the parietal and occipital regions in the SUH dataset.

Résumé :
This research is motivated by the natural flooding disaster in the Landak sub-watershed area, which can be caused by river overflow due to high rain intensity. Flood discharge can be calculated using the Synthetic Unit Hydrograph method if the available data is limited, such as only obtaining rainfall data and watershed characteristics.Several Synthetic Unit Hydrograph (SUH) methodologies, including SUH Snyder, Nakayasu, Soil Conservation Services (SCS), Gama I, ITB, and Limantara, were utilized in this study. The analyzed data included precipitation data and measured discharge data. Rainfall data are analyzed using the homogeneity test, statistical descriptors, and chi-squared to determine the planned flood discharge. Then, continue with the study of rainfall frequency and analysis of rainfall intensity so that the maximal discharge can be analyzed using three SUH methods: HSS Snyder, Nakayasu, and SCS. The analysis of measured release is conducted by statistically analyzing estimated discharge data. The analysis results are then compared to obtain the percentage error between the discharge plan and the minimum measured discharge. The results showed that the HSS Snyder method was selected for analyzing flood discharge in the Landak sub-watershed basin because it has the minimum percentage error from comparing planned release and measured discharge values. Therefore, for the calculation of flood discharge analysis of the Landak sub-watershed basin, the HSS Snyder method is used with the acquisition of flood discharge plans for the return period of 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 years of 648,880 m3/sec, 896,335 m3/sec, 1025,954 m3/sec, 1132,006 m3/sec, 1252,788 m3/sec, 1335,273 m3/sec.

Résumé :
In the development of the synthetic unit hydrograph method, the empirical formula expresses the relation between the watershed morphometry characteristic and the constituent elements of hydrographs that are peak discharge (Qp), time to peak (tp), time lag (TL), and time base (Tb). This research intends to build a model of time lag in order to modify the Nakayasu SUH modeling. The Nakayasu synthetic unit hydrograph (SUH) model, seen as very popular and widely used by practitioners, needs to be adjusted for the main parameters that form the hydrograph to be able to be directly used based on the watershed morphometry characteristic. Based on the specific characteristic of the Nakayasu SUH formulation, this research will focus on developing the Nakayasu SUH model by the modification with adding the watershed characteristic parameter to the time lag parameter (tL). This research was conducted in 23 watersheds in Indonesia. The previous research in the same watersheds indicates five morphometry parameters with a positive effect on the time lag with the ranking due to the strongest effect as follows: watershed area (A), the river length from outlet to the weight point of the watershed (Lc), H = L.Lc, and the main river length (L). However, the two other parameters negatively affect the time lag with the ranking due to the strongest effect as follows: river network density (D) and river slope (K). Then, the modeling of time lag is carried out based on the research result, and the result of the time lag model is as follows: tL=Lc0.1809H-0.00159A0.003459

Nowadays many petroleum companies are adopting different knowledge-based systems aiming to have a better reservoir quality prediction. However, there are obstacles that not allow different background geologists to retrieve information without needing the help of an information technology expert. The main problem is the heterogeneity semantic of end users when doing queries in a visual query system (VQS). This can be worst when there is new terminology in the knowledge-base affecting the user interaction, particularly for novice users. In this context, we present theoretical and practical contributions that exploit the synergism between ontology and human computer interaction (HCI). On the theory side, we introduce the concept of ontology view for well-founded ontology and provide a formal definition and expressive power characterization. We focus in the ontology view extraction of a well-founded and complete ontology based on ontological meta-properties and propose a language independent algorithm for sub-ontology extraction, which is guided by ontological meta-properties. On the practical side, based on the principles of HCI and interaction design, we propose a new Visual Query System that uses the ontology view approach to guide the query process. Also, our design includes data visualizations that will help geologists to make sense of the retrieved data. Furthermore, we evaluated our interaction design with five users performing a usability testing through a questionnaire in a controlled experiment. The evaluation was performed over geologists that work in the area of petroleum geology. The approach proposed is evaluated on the petrography domain taking the communities of Diagenesis and MicroStructural adopting the well known criteria of precision and recall. Experimental results show that relevant terms obtained from the documents of a community varies from 30 to 66 % of precision and 4.6 to 36% of recall depending on the approach selected and the parameters combination. Furthermore, results show that almost for all the parameters combination that recall and f-measure obtained from diagenesis articles using the sub-ontology generated for the diagenesis community is greater than recall and f-measure using the sub-ontology generated for microstructural community. On the other hand, results for all the parameters combination that recall and f-measure obtained from microstructural articles using the sub-ontology generated for the microstructural community is greater than recall and f-measure using the subontology generated for diagenesis community.

Résumé :
This research consists of three parts. The first part is an investigation of several popular image restoration techniques. The techniques are used to restore 2-D image data, f(x, y), that has been blurred by a known point spread function (PSF), b(x, y) and corrupted by an unknown amount of noise, n(x, y). Several sample images are restored using all of the techniques. Of the methods investigated the one which produces the best restoration results was determined to be the Wiener deconvolution method. The determination of the best method is based on the quality of the restored image and the required restoration time. The second part of this research involves the development of a noise standard deviation ( n) estimation method. The method determines an estimate, e, of n based on the Morrison Noise Reduction Method (MNRM) and is therefore an iterative method. The results of the noise, n, estimating method (SIGEST) developed are rather good. The error between n and e when average across several images all contaminated with a medium width or greater PSF and various amounts of noise, is less than 10 percent. Knowledge of n is important for the application of Wiener deconvolution. All noise in this research is assumed to be uncorrelated noise. The third part of this research involves the development of the Sub-Imaging Method, SIM. In the third part of this research, the h2 and the hN of image data h is defined as follows: h2 = Image data h processed by two iterations of the MNRM hN = h – h2 SIM divides an image's hN into several rectangular parts, calculates e of each part by the method described previously, calculates the average of the e‘s and selects the part with a e which is closest to the average of all the e‘s. The part with a e closest to the average is defined to be the average sub-image (asi). The following assertions concerning SIM are investigated: 1. The asi of an image can be used in the place of the whole image to determine e of n and used to restore the whole image. Therefore, the noise in a piece of an image can represent the noise in the whole image (provided it is the asi of the image's hN). 2. SIM can be combined with the Wiener image restoration method to restore contaminated image data without the n of the data initially being known. In this research, image and numerical results are provided which validate the two claims about SIM. The wiener method and SIM are combined to develop the Sub-Image Wiener Method (SIWM). In this research, image and numerical results are provided to show that SIWM is an effective method of restoring blur and noise contaminated image data. Image and numerical data are provided comparing SIWM to the Matlab function Wiener2. The results show that SIWM is faster and yields better results than the Wiener2 method. .

Résumé :
The main aims of this work are to identify, verify, and validate a smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method for simulating long duration transient and steady- state fluid sloshing in complex geometries. The validation will be carried out by comparing the SPH simulations against experimental data provided by ESA/ESTEC for transient and steady-state sloshing in a rectangular tank with a low filling ratio and of transient sloshing in a pill-shaped tank that exhibits transition from swaying to swirling waves. The experimental tests proved to be extremely challenging due to the low fill ratio of the rectangular tank and the long duration of both experiments. The main challenge is to devise a SPH scheme that balances spatial and temporal accuracy with an efficient computer implementation to produce accurate simulations at a reasonable computing cost. The investigation highlighted three issues of critical importance: the treatment of solid boundaries in order to limit the introduction numerical errors into the system; the application of a correct numerical dissipation scheme to reduce existing numerical errors; and the need for a massively parallel implementation. Careful examination of the most suitable techniques led to the adoption a cor- rected δ-SPH scheme that provides numerical dissipation to reduce spurious pressure oscillations, and a fixed ghost particle boundary condition to accurately impose wall boundary conditions. The proposed SPH methods were coded in the open source parallel code DualSPHysics. The implementation showed significant improvements in energy conservation and solution accuracy when compared to state-of-the-art SPH methods, and accurately reproduced known analytical solutions to linear sloshing. The validation against the ESA/ESTEC experimental data showed excellent agreement between the SPH simulations and experiments, accurately reproducing the time history of wave heights and sloshing forces as well as capturing the full free-surface shapes. Only the careful selection of appropriate boundary conditions, artificial dissipation and a massively parallel GPU architecture allowed to accurately simulate these experiments.

Knowledge on earthworms diversity in Rio Grande do Sul (RS) State, as well as in Brazil, is lower than the range estimated by taxonomists. The study aimed to: 1) evaluate the diversity of earthworms present in ecosystems of three regions of the RS State; 2) characterize the physical and chemical properties of soil, vegetation and land use; and 3) determine the potential use of a nontoxic solution to extract earthworms from the soil, in order to reduce the environmental impacts on ecosystems assessed. A qualitative survey of earthworms was conducted by the withdrawal of monoliths and manual screening in 15 different ecosystems. Samples were collected in 29 municipalities of the northwestern, central and southwestern regions of the RS State, comprising 77 sampling sites. Species identification was based on morphological parameters and / or molecular. Twenty-one species of earthworms were found, belonging to the families Glossoscolecidae (10), Ocnerodrilidae (4), Megascolecidae (4), Acanthodrilidae (1), Lumbricidae (1) and Criodrilidae (1). Ten correspond to new records, belonging to the genus Glossoscolex (6), Fimoscolex (1), Kerriona (1), Eukerria (1) and a new specie of the Criodrilidae family. The occurrence of earthworms species was correlated with the type of ecosystem. The highest diversity was observed in sites of native forest fragment and native grassland. Most native species (Urobenus brasiliensis, Fimoscolex n. sp. and Glossoscolex sp.) predominated in ecosystems altered by human activities, while the exotic species (Amynthas gracilis, Amynthas rodericensis, Metaphire californica, Aporrectodea trapezoides) and pilgrim (Pontoscolex corethrurus) predominate in sites with highest degree of human disturbance. The degree of disturbance of ecosystems and land use influence the presence of earthworms, followed by physical and chemical characteristics of soil. The nuclear gene 28S rDNA, as well as mitochondrial genes 16S and subunit I of cytochrome c oxidase were important tools for the molecular characterization of earthworms. Assessments of the potential of onion extract as the extraction solution for soil earthworms showed that the concentration of 175 g L-1 extract shows capacity comparable to standard extraction solution (formaldehyde 0.5%) in the extraction of earthworms in clay and sandy soils. The results of this study indicated that the Rio Grande do Sul State has greater earthworms diversity than the currently known, justifying the importance of studies of the diversity of these soil organisms.

This work investigates the use of particle-based system for fluid animation. Based on proposals presented by Müller et al., the goal of this dissertation is to investigate and fully understand the use of a Lagrangian method known as Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) for fluid simulations. A library has been implemented in order to validate the method for fluid animation at interactive rate. To demonstrate the method effectiveness and efficiency, the resulting library allows the instantiation of different configurations, including the treatment of fluid-obstacle collisions, interaction between two distinct fluids, and fluid-user interaction.

Résumé :
Computational load of discrete element modelling (DEM) simulations is known to increase with the number of particles. To improve the computational efficiency hybrid methods using continuous elements in the far-field, have been developed to decrease the number of discrete particles required for the model. In the present work, the performance of using such coupling methods is investigated. In particular, the coupled wall method, known as the “wall-zone” method when coupling DEM and the continuum Finite Differences Method (FDM) using the Itasca commercial codes PFC and FLAC respectively, is here analysed. To determine the accuracy and the efficiency of such a coupling approach, 3-point bending tests of cemented materials are simulated numerically. To validate the coupling accuracy first the elastic response of the beam is considered. The advantage of employing such a coupling method is then investigated by loading the beam until failure. Finally, comparing the results between DEM, DEM-FDM coupled and FDM models, the advantages and disadvantages of each method are outlined.

Résumé :
One of the main tasks of applied linguistics is the solution of the problem of high-quality automated processing of natural language. The most popular methods for processing natural-language text responses for the purpose of extraction and representation of semantics should be systems that are based on the efficient combination of linguistic analysis technologies and analysis methods. Among the existing methods for analyzing text data, a valid method is used by the method using a vector model. Another effective and relevant means of extracting semantics from the text and its representation is the method of latent semantic analysis (LSA). The LSA method was tested and confirmed its effectiveness in such areas of processing the native language as modeling the conceptual knowledge of the person; information search, the implementation of which LSA shows much better results than conventional vector methods.
