The purpose of this research is to examine the speech act of welcoming unexpected guests in the Hijaz and Al-Janoub communities in Saudi Arabia. Discourse Completion Task (DCT) is adopted to gather the required data, where all the questions are open-ended questions. The study investigates how gender of the host/guest affects the welcoming speech act of an unexpected guest and what the strategies contribute to welcoming an unexpected guest in Hijaz and Al-Janoub areas. It also focuses on the significant impact of religious values among Saudis. Selected coding schemes of Ebrahimi, Pirbabaei and Mehrabad (2015), Al-Zubaidi (2012), Setin (2018), and Allami (2012) are utilized for the data analysis of this study. The results show that both of the above communities, whether males or females, accept unexpected guests. It has been revealed that language, gender, and religion have a great impact on the results of this study. The majority of the female participants opt out of communicative patterns that show rejection to welcoming strange or relative male in some situations where they are visited by a strange male or relative from the opposite sex while they are alone at home.

Résumé :
Titanium alloy grade Ti-6Al-4V has been widely applied for many applications such as aircraft structural components, machine parts, and parts for medical equipments. To understand deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of the material during hot forming process is significant for achieving desired dimension and final mechanical properties of a product. In this study, stress-strain responses of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy were investigated using hot compression tests at different temperatures and strain rates. The determined flow curves of the alloy were subsequently calculated according to the constitutive models based on Cingara equation and Shafiei and Ebrahimi equation and compared with the experimental results. By this manner, influences of work hardening and dynamic recrystallization on the hot deformation behavior of material could be described. Accurate prediction of flow curves can considerably improve the forming process design.

Résumé :
Background: Eribulin shows some activity in controlling brain metastasis in breast cancer. Methods: This observational, multicenter study evaluated brain disease control rates, survival and safety in patients with brain metastatic breast cancer treated with eribulin in clinical practice. Results: A total of 34 patients were enrolled (mean age 49 years, 91% with visceral metastases) and 29 were evaluable for brain disease. Fourteen achieved disease control and showed a longer time without progression: 10 months (95% CI: 2.3–17.7) versus 4 months (95% CI: 3.3–4.7) in the control group (p = 0.029). Patients with clinical benefits at 6 months had longer survival. Leukopenia and neutropenia were the most frequent grade 3–4 toxicities. Conclusion: Eribulin confirms its effectiveness in patients with brain metastatic breast cancer. Further studies on larger cohorts are needed to confirm the results.

Résumé :
Abstract The flow behaviors of magnesium alloys are too complicated to be simply formulated in a mathematical form. Most researches have based metallurgically or phenomenologically on specific functions with many constants, which could be applied only to the limited magnesium alloys under specific conditions. In this study, a review on the studies of flow stress characterization of magnesium alloys is conducted and the possibility of using the traditional piecewise C-m model and its extension to characterize the magnesium alloys is emphasized. The formulations of major flow models are given with three typical applications to magnesium alloy AZ80 and its characteristics are demonstrated through comparison of the fitted flow behaviors with their associated experiments and various flow stress models including Arrehenius model, four Ludwik family models (Johnson Cook, Modified Johnson-Cook, Hensel-Spittel, Sutton-Luo), two Voce family models (Ebrahimi et al., Razali et al.) and C-m models.

Résumé :
This study investigates the types and discourse functions of grammatical subjects inresearch article introductions across four disciplines, namely: Applied Linguistics andPsychology, representing soft sciences, and Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, representing hard sciences. This study was carried out on a corpus of 40 research articleintroductions (10 from each discipline). The research article introductions were sourcedfrom twelve ISI journals published from 2008 to 2012. The corpus was analysed basedon the modified model in relation to grammatical subject types and discourse functionssuggested by Ebrahimi (2014). The results revealed that the grammatical subject typeselections were guided by the nature of the research article introduction. However, thefrequency of use of the grammatical subject types was constrained by the nature ofthe discipline. Discourse functions of grammatical subject types were predominantlydetermined by the divisions of the hard and soft sciences, and the specific disciplineswithin and the internal structure of the research article introductions. In addition, theresults of this study manifest a new framework for the analysis of discourse functions ofgrammatical subject types in research article introductions.

Résumé :
It has been recently investigated [A. Azizi and S. Ebrahimi, Nano 9, 1450088 (2004).] the Paclitaxel (PTX) anticancer drug molecule adsorption on nitrogen doped graphene (NG). However, the surface strain effect on adsorption is not considered in the literature. In this study, using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation, we show that the PTX molecule adsorption can be tuned by exploiting the rippling effect of the strained NG. The dependence of the nitrogen concentration in the presence of ripples on the surface, arising due to thermal fluctuations, is examined. We have also considered the connection between the average distance of PTX from NG surface and the maximum induced deformation on the surface structure. It is demonstrated that the average distance of PTX from NG is increased with increasing the strain until a critical value is reached, and then it has remained almost constant. To this end, the dependence of the degree of ripple-type distortion of the surface on the PTX adsorption is investigated.

Résumé :
To study mathematical notions, such as injectivity with respect to the class [Formula: see text] of (mono)morphisms in a category [Formula: see text], one needs to have some categorical and algebraic information about the pair ([Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]). In this paper, we take [Formula: see text] to be the category Act-S of acts over a semigroup S, C to be an arbitrary closure operator in the category Act-S, and [Formula: see text] to be the class of C-dense monomorphisms resulting from a closure operator C and first study some categorical properties of the pair (Act-S, [Formula: see text]). Then injectivity with respect to the class of C-dense monomorphisms is studied. The class of sequentially dense monomorphisms resulting from a special closure operator (sequential closure operator) and injectivity with respect to this class of monomorphisms have been studied by Giuli, Ebrahimi, Mahmoudi and the author. Some of these results generalize some of the results about the class of sequentially dense monomorphisms.

Résumé :
The Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP) plays an important role in the logistics transportation sector. Determining the proper route will reduce the company's operational costs. In CVRP, a number of vehicles have a capacity limit that can serve all customers. This research completes a real case study on a bottled drinking water company where the company still uses the subjective method of the driver to determine the transportation route. Based on the conditions in the company, the selection of the best route will consider vehicle capacity and demand to determine the shortest route. The execution of this case study uses the Football Game Algorithm (FGA) which was first initiated by Fadakar Ebrahimi which proved promising and had the strongest performance in all cases. FGA is expected to be able to determine the shortest distribution route from the existing cases to reduce the distribution costs incurred. This study takes data from 4 days of delivery that served 78 customers. The average daily transportation cost savings result is 42%. This amount indicates that the FGA algorithm is effective for completing a real case study in CVRP.

Recall that for (universal) algebras A and B in a category [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] is usually an external object, in the sense that it is just a set and is neither an algebra nor an (internal) object of the base category [Formula: see text]. Ebrahimi introduced an object [A, B] inside [Formula: see text] to be the best counterpart of Hom(A, B), for universal algebras A, B in a Grothendieck topos [Formula: see text]. In this paper, taking a monoid M and an equational category of algebras [Formula: see text], we introduce the category [Formula: see text] of universal algebras in the category [Formula: see text], of sets with an action of a monoid M, together with members of [A, B], called internal homomorphisms, as the M-set of homomorphisms from A to B. We study some algebraic and categoric ingredients, monomorphisms, epimorphisms, limits and colimits, of the category [Formula: see text]. Among other things, we show that in this category equalizers do not exist in general while all colimits exist.

Résumé :
Values are fundamental paradigms that shape attitudes and guide behaviour of human. Values shape morals, where morals help in shaping ethics. The first objective of this paper is to reviews values and ethics based on western and Islamic perspectives. The second objective specifically compares western and Islamic values. For comparison purposes, western values are represented by Schwartz values, while Islamic values are based on a study from Ghoniyah and Hartono (2014) and Ebrahimi and Yusoff (2017). Quran and Sunnah were referred to in highlighting the difference between the western and Islamic values. The analysis is done based on four dimensions, namely self-enhancement, openness to change, self-transcendence and conservation. The study finds that there are a lot of similarities between western and Islamic values. Both values have the same intention of nurturing better mankind. However, there are two western values, namely “Power” and “Hedonism” that has no direct link with Islamic values. This is because, in Islam, Muslims believe that only Allah SWT has the ultimate will and power over life and death. Besides that, Islam encourages the attitude of promoting mashlahah rather than focusing on worldly pleasures. This paper adds to the literature and provides a comparison of values that would be beneficial to organizations and academic institutions in instilling values in their own setting

Résumé :
The Faculty of Theology of Bologna, founded in 1364, presents a paradox when we investigate its custom of performing principia on the Sentences prior to 1400. Although we are fortunate to have from Bologna the most complete surviving documentation concerning the organization of a medieval theology faculty, only two complete sets of principia have been identified so far from the matricula of 450 known scholastics. The situation hinders any comparative investigation that intends to test how what is depicted in the statutes is reflected in practice. The two surviving sets of principia from Bologna are those of the Cistercian Conrad of Ebrach, from 1368–1369, and the Augustinian Augustinus Favaroni of Rome, dating to 1388–1389. This study uses Augustinus Favaroni's principia to illustrate how this academic exercise functioned at the University of Bologna. It begins with a biographical sketch of Augustinus Favaroni of Rome followed by a short description of the principia as mirrored in the statutes of Bologna. It continues with a brief summary of each of the four principia of Favaroni reporting the philosophical and theological topics developed in his text, with an emphasis on the debates in which he engaged to defend his theses, and concludes with an appendix containing an edition of the four principia.

Résumé :
Abstract DNA of many breast tumors is barraged by C-to-T/G mutations within TCW (W:T,A). These mutations are attributed to the aberrant expression and activity of APOBEC3 enzymes. They have been shown to account for many driver mutations in genes such as PIK3CA, ERBB2, and PPP2R1A, however their precise source and also their roles in tumor development, evolution, and patient survival are debated. Currently, quantification of APOBEC3 expression changes in tumor cells is confounded by the ubiquitous expression of these enzymes in immune infiltrating cells. In this study, we used a novel quantitative biology approach to determine the expression profiles of APOBEC3 enzymes in breast tumor and tumor microenvironment cells from >1,000 patients. We combined diverse datasets including tumor/matched normal RNAseqs, tumor somatic mutations, cell line RNAseqs and mutations, estimates of tumor purities and immune cell compositions, and expression of purified cell populations to show that in breast cancer there is only a single APOBEC3 dysregulation process. This process is subtype-independent and is represented by APOBEC3B upregulation and and extreme APOBEC3C downregulation. Résumé :
ABSTRACT Introduction One of the possible mechanisms for the gradual destruction of bond strength in dentin-resin interface, could be due to the demineralized unstable collagen matrix. Use of protease inhibitors, such as tannic acid (TA) could prevent destruction of collagen fibers. The aim of this study was to compare the TA effect on bond strength of etch and rinse and self-etch adhesive systems in the dentin of primary teeth. Materials and methods This in vitro study was done on 40 extracted primary molar teeth. The teeth were sectioned in the mesiodistal direction, and enamel of buccal and lingual surfaces was removed. Samples were randomly divided into four groups: Single bond (SB) + TA, SB, Clearfil SE Bond (CSB) + TA, and CSB. Then, Z250 and Clearfil AP-X composites were cured on the surfaces of SB and CSB groups respectively. After that, all samples were divided into aging and non-aging groups. For 3 months, samples were placed under 1,000 thermal cycles in aging group. Subsequently, the shear bond strengths of all groups were measured by the International testing machine, and failure mode was evaluated by an optical stereomicroscope. Data were analyzed with paired t-test and independent t-test. Results Tannic acid induced a significant reduction in the immediate bond strength of adhesive SB. Meanwhile, TA had no significant effect on shear bond strength of the CSB system. Conclusion Based on our findings, use of TA is not recommended with SB and CSB adhesives on primary teeth. Clinical significance Tannic acid may not be considered in resin restorations of primary teeth. How to cite this article Ebrahimi M, Sarraf Shirazi A, Abdolhoseinpour F, Abdollahi M. Résumé :
Abstract Background In DISCOVER, emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (F/TAF) was noninferior to F/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) for preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in men who have sex with men and transgender women, with a superior renal laboratory profile. The differential impact of F/TAF and F/TDF on renal parameters among older individuals and those with medical comorbidities is unknown. Methods DISCOVER randomized participants 1:1 to daily blinded F/TAF or F/TDF. We examined renal outcomes at week 48 including estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) by Cockcroft-Gault, β2 microglobulin (M):Creatinine (Cr) and retinol binding protein (RBP):Cr ratios (markers of proximal renal tubular function), and discontinuations due to investigator reported study drug-related renal adverse events (AEs). Results Median age was 34 years (yrs)(range 18-76), with 12.5% vs 10.9% < 25yrs, 12.2% vs 14.4% ≥ 50yrs, and 1.1% vs 0.9% > 65yrs for F/TAF and F/TDF, respectively. The prevalence of medical comorbidities at baseline were; eGFR < 90mL/min= 9.1% vs 9.3%, diabetes= 2.9% vs 3.3%, and hypertension= 10.5 vs 11.1%, for F/TAF and F/TDF, respectively. eGFR changes by age category and medical comorbidity status are found in the Table. Forty participants had study drug-related renal AEs; 14 with F/TAF and 26 with F/TDF. Of these, 25% were > 50yrs, 20% had baseline eGFR < 90mL/min, 7.5% had history of diabetes, and 22.5% had history of hypertension. β2M:Cr and RBP:Cr changes were more favorable in participants receiving F/TAF, with greater magnitude of difference in older participants (data not shown). Table. Conclusion The DISCOVER trial allows for a large single variable comparison of the two tenofovir prodrugs in the absence of underlying HIV infection and in the absence of third antiretroviral agents. F/TAF was associated with favorable changes in renal biomarkers regardless of age or medical comorbidity. Participants ≥50yrs or with comorbidities were proportionately more likely to develop study drug related renal AEs, but these were present in the minority of cases. Résumé :
Abstract Background: The obesity epidemic is rapidly increasing in the USA and obese women are at a higher likelihood of developing triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). Several studies implicated the importance of the breast microenvironment on the aggressive cancer biology especially obese microenvironment. However, the underlying mechanism(s) by which obesity contributes to the progression of TNBC remains unclear. The objective of this study is to test a novel concept that obesity upregulates leukemia inhibitory factor receptor (LIFR) oncogenic signaling in TNBC and test whether LIFR inhibition blocks TNBC progression. Methods: Established TNBC cell lines were co-cultured with human primary adipocytes or incubated with adipocyte conditioned medium or with high glucose (HG) followed by treatment with LIFR inhibitor EC359. The effect of adiposity on TNBC cells was determined using cell viability, colony formation, and invasion assays. Mechanistic studies were performed using CRISPR/Cas9 KO of LIFR, Western blotting, RT-qPCR, and reporter gene assays. Utility of LIFR inhibitor EC359 was tested using xenografts, and patient derived organoid (PDO) models. Results: Treatment of TNBC cells with adipose conditions or HG increased the proliferation and invasion of TNBC cells. Western blot and RT-qPCR analyses confirmed that increased expression of LIFR correlated with enhanced downstream LIFR signaling such as STAT3 and subsequent activation of STAT3 target genes. CRISPR KO of LIFR or treatment of TNBC cells with EC359 significantly reduced the cell viability, colony formation and invasion under adipose conditions. Western blotting results showed that co-culture with adipocytes significantly enhanced LIFR downstream signaling in TNBC model cells and is effectively blocked by LIFR KO or EC359 treatment. Further, EC359 treatment blocked the adipose environment mediated growth of organoids. Importantly, co-implantation of adipocytes significantly enhanced TNBC xenograft tumor growth, however treatment with EC359 significantly attenuated adipocyte induced TNBC progression. Conclusions: Collectively, these results suggest that adiposity contributes to increased TNBC cell growth via upregulation of the LIF/LIFR pathway. The LIF/LIFR axis represents a potential therapeutic target for adiposity driven TNBC and the LIFR inhibitor EC359 could be used as a new therapeutic agent to treat obesity associated TNBC. Résumé :
Abstract Immune checkpoint blockade is effective for a subset of patients across many cancers, but most patients are refractory to current immunotherapies and new approaches are needed to overcome resistance. The protein tyrosine phosphatase PTPN2 is a central regulator of inflammation, and genetic deletion of PTPN2 on either tumour cells or host immune cells promotes anti-tumour immunity. However, inhibitors of PTPN2 with suitable pharmacokinetic properties for oral administration have not been described. Here, we present the characterization of ABBV-CLS-484 (A484), a potent active site inhibitor of PTPN2 and the closely related phosphatase PTPN1. A484 treatment in vitro amplifies the response to interferon gamma, and monotherapy A484 treatment generates robust anti-tumour immunity in several murine cancer models. Through in vivo studies and single cell transcriptional profiling of tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) from A484-treated mice, we show that A484 inflames the tumour microenvironment and promotes CD8+ T cell function by enhancing cytokine signaling and decreasing T cell exhaustion and dysfunction. Our results demonstrate that oral administration of small molecule inhibitors of PTPN2/N1 can induce potent anti-tumour immunity in mouse models. PTPN2/N1 inhibitors offer a promising new strategy for cancer immunotherapy and are currently being evaluated clinically in patients with advanced solid tumours (NCT04777994). More broadly, our study shows that small molecule inhibitors of key intracellular immune regulators can achieve efficacy comparable to current antibody-based immune checkpoint blockade in preclinical models. Finally, to our knowledge A484 represents the first active-site phosphatase inhibitor to enter clinical evaluation for cancer immunotherapy and may pave the way for additional therapeutics targeting this important class of enzymes. Résumé :
Abstract Background DISCOVER is an ongoing trial comparing emtricitabine plus tenofovir alafenamide (F/TAF) or tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (F/TDF) for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). DISCOVER included some participants already taking F/TDF for PrEP at baseline (BL) creating a unique opportunity to study outcomes after switching from F/TDF to F/TAF. Methods Men who have sex with men and transgender women at risk of HIV were randomized to receive blinded daily F/TAF or F/TDF and followed for at least 96 weeks; participants taking BL F/TDF for PrEP could enroll without a washout period. Laboratory assessments included estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), markers of renal proximal tubular function (RBP and β2M to creatinine ratios), and fasting cholesterol levels; these were analyzed by 2-sided Wilcoxon rank sum test. Bone mineral density (BMD) was assessed in a subset of participants and analyzed by ANOVA. Results 905 of 5387 (16.8%) participants were on BL F/TDF for PrEP for a median duration of 399 days; baseline characteristics are found in Table 1. There was one HIV infection among BL PrEP users, in a participant randomized to F/TDF who had intermittent low adherence. Participants on BL PrEP randomized to F/TAF had improvements in eGFR and markers of proximal tubular function compared to F/TDF. Median change in BMD was not statistically different for BL PrEP users assigned to F/TAF vs F/TDF, however de novo F/TAF participants had improved BMD profiles compared to F/TDF. BL PrEP users in the F/TAF arm had increases in LDL cholesterol (median +6mg/dL) compared to F/TDF, while changes in HDL and total:HDL ratio were similar. Lipid-modifying agent (LMA) initiation in BL PrEP users was more frequent in the F/TAF arm, while LMA initiation in de novo PrEP participants was similar between arms (Table 2). Table 1. Characteristics of DISCOVER participants Table 2. Efficacy and safety results Conclusion HIV incidence was low in participants taking BL PrEP. Participants who switched from F/TDF to F/TAF had improvements in renal biomarkers. There was no statistical difference in BMD among BL PrEP users, although numbers were small. The observed lipid changes in BL PrEP users are consistent with the LDL and HDL suppressive effect of TDF, and the small but higher rate of LMA initiation with F/TAF is likely related to withdrawal of this effect. Résumé :
Background:Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) associated vasculitides (AV) can increase risk of atherosclerosis. 1 Patients with autoimmune disease have increased rates of coronary events that are not fully explained by classic risk factors. 2 A prior study has shown that autoimmune vasculitides –including polyarteritis nodosa, hypersensitivity granulomatosis with polyangiitis, giant cell arteritis, thrombotic angiitis, Takayasu arteritis, Goodpasture syndrome, and Kawasaki disease –are associated with increased cost of care and increased 30-day readmission after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). 3 It is important to distinguish the cardiovascular outcomes of small–vessel ANCA-associated vasculitides from the other vasculitides included in this prior study because coronary arteritis is typically a complication of medium to large vessel vasculitis. Objectives:To investigate the impact of comorbid ANCA-associated small vessel vasculitis (AV) on outcomes of PCI in a nationally representative cohort. Methods:Patients undergoing PCI in the 2016-2018 National Inpatient Sample were selected and those with ANCA-associated vasculitis were identified using the ICD-10 classification system. The NIS is an all-payer, survey-weighted, inpatient database estimating 37 million annual U.S. hospitalizations managed by the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP). Primary study outcomes were prevalence of comorbid vasculitis, mortality, complications, and cost of care. Results:Of 1,351,670 patients undergoing PCI were identified, 410 (0.03%) had diagnosis of ANCA-vasculitis. AV patients were similar to non-AV patients in distribution of gender, race, and median household income. AV patients were older (70.9 vs 65.2 years, P<0.001) and more likely to utilize Medicare (78% vs 53%, P<0.005). AV patients were more likely to present with non-ST segment myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) (57.3% vs 41.5%, P<0.005) and less likely to present with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) (18.3% vs 31.3%, P<0.05). AV patients had similar adjusted mortality (6.1% vs 2.6%, aOR: 2.1, P=0.8), cost of care ($32,985 vs $25,767, β = 0.02, P=0.7), and length of hospitalization (6.0 vs 3.9, IRR: 1.2, P=0.13).Conclusion:The presence of ANCA-associated vasculitis did not appear to negatively impact inpatient clinical outcomes or utilization of care among patients undergoing PCI in the United States. Cost of care was not increased, in contrast to an increase cost of care when small, medium, and large vasculitides are grouped together. The greater proportion of NSTEMI patients among those with AAV corresponds with a growing body of literature implicating inflammatory processes in the pathogenesis of certain forms of myocardial infarction meriting further investigation.References:[1]Misra DP, Shenoy SN. Résumé :
ABSTRACT Introduction Adhesion of bacteria, especially Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans), to the surface of tooth restorations is a factor in the etiology of secondary caries. Given the ever-increasing popularity of bleaching procedures, the aim of the present study was to evaluate adhesion of S. mutans and surface roughness (SR) of microhybrid composite resin and giomer subsequent to the application of 15% carbamide peroxide. Materials and methods Twenty disk-shaped samples were prepared from each material, measuring 8 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness. Then, the samples of each material were divided into two groups (n = 10): (a) microhybrid without bleaching; (b) microhybrid with bleaching; and (c) giomer without bleaching; and (d) giomer with bleaching. The samples in groups I and III were immersed in artificial saliva for 14 days without any bleaching procedure; the samples in groups II and IV underwent a bleaching procedure on their polished surfaces with 15% carbamide peroxide for 14 days (4 hours of bleaching and 20 hours of immersion in artificial saliva). The SR of all the samples was determined with the use of a profilometer. The samples were added to the culture medium after 4 hours of placement in a microbial suspension at 37°C; after 24 hours of incubation at 37°C, the bacterial counts, indicating the number of bacteria adhering to the surface, were determined by counting them in the plates containing the solid culture medium. Results The type of the restorative material had a significant effect on SR, with greater SR in giomer (p = 0.03). However, bleaching had no significant effect on SR (p = 0.099). In relation to the rate of bacterial adhesion (BA), both the types of the restorative materials and bleaching procedures were significantly effective; in this context, there was more BA in microhybrid composite resin samples that did not undergo bleaching (p < 0.001). Bleaching resulted in the adhesion of S. mutans to the surface of both materials decrease. Pearson's correlation coefficient did not reveal any correlation between BA and SR (p = 0.42). Conclusion The BA was higher in microhybrid composite resin, and SR was higher in giomer. The BA was higher in samples that did not undergo a bleaching procedure. Clinical significance There is no change in the SR of microhybrid composite resin and giomer after application of 15% carbamide peroxide; therefore, it is not necessary to polish or replace these restorative materials after bleaching. In addition, use of 15% carbamide peroxide does not increase caries risk. How to cite this article Mohammadi N, Mowlaie S, Savadi- Oskoee S, Ebrahimi ME, Rikhtegaran S, Rahbar M, Pirzadeh T. Résumé :
Abstract The immune system can eliminate tumors, but checkpoints enable tumors to escape immune destruction. Here, we report the systematic identification of immune evasion mechanisms using genome-scale in vivo CRISPR screens in eight murine cancer models treated with immune checkpoint blockade (ICB). We identify and validate previously unreported immune evasion genes and identify key immune inhibitory checkpoints that have a conserved role across several cancer models, such as the non-classical MHC-I molecule Qa-1b/HLA-E, which scores as the top overall sensitizing hit across all screens. Surprisingly, we find that loss of IFNγ signaling by tumor cells sensitizes 6 of 8 cancer models to ICB. While IFN-mediated inflammation has been associated with response to ICB, there have also been reports of ICB-resistance driven by IFN sensing. However, several divergent mechanisms have been proposed to explain the inhibitory effect of tumor IFN sensing, leading to uncertainty about how this key immune signaling pathway is regulating anti-tumor immunity in different contexts. Using in vivo screening data, transcriptional profiling, and genetic interaction studies, we reveal that the immune-inhibitory effects of tumor IFN sensing are the direct result of tumor upregulation of classical and non-classical MHC-I genes. The interferon-MHC-I axis can inhibit anti-tumor immunity through two mechanisms: first, upregulation of classical MHC-I inhibits the cytotoxicity of natural killer cells, which are activated by ICB. Second, IFN-mediated upregulation of Qa-1b directly inhibits cytotoxicity by effector CD8+ T cells via the NKG2A/CD94 receptor, which is induced on CD8+ T cells by ICB. Finally, we show that high interferon-stimulated gene expression in patients is associated with decreased survival in RCC and poor response to ICB in melanoma. Our study establishes a unifying mechanism to explain the inhibitory role of tumor IFN sensing, revealing that IFN-mediated upregulation of classical and non-classical MHC-I inhibitory checkpoints can facilitate immune escape. Résumé :
Abstract Background In DISCOVER, a multinational randomized controlled trial, F/TAF demonstrated noninferior efficacy compared to F/TDF for HIV prevention with improved bone mineral density and renal safety biomarkers at the primary endpoint (when all participants had reached 48 weeks and 50% had reached 96 weeks) and at week (W) 96, the end of the blinded phase. We now report W144 outcomes for participants who were randomized to F/TAF and continued F/TAF in the open-label extension (OLE) phase. Methods All participants who completed the randomized blinded phase could opt to receive F/TAF for at least 48 weeks in the OLE phase. We evaluated HIV incidence in participants on F/TAF through W144 and assessed changes in hip and spine bone mineral density (BMD) and in glomerular function (eGFR) from baseline to W144. Results 2,080 of the 2,694 participants initially randomized to F/TAF opted into the OLE phase, and 1,933 were still on study drug through W144, thereby leading to a total of 7,885 person-years (PY) of follow-up on F/TAF. Eight participants taking F/TAF acquired HIV in the blinded phase and 3 in the OLE phase. Dried blood spot analyses on the 3 OL infections found tenofovir diphosphate levels consistent with low adherence. Genotypic resistance testing showed no relevant resistance mutations for the 3 new infections. Among participants taking F/TAF, HIV incidence was 0.16/100 PY (95% CI 0.06-0.33) at the primary endpoint, 0.16/100 PY (95% CI 0.07-0.31) through 96 weeks and 0.14/100 PY (95% CI 0.07-0.25) through 144 weeks. Participants taking F/TAF had increases in hip BMD (mean percentage change +0.54%) and in spine BMD (mean percentage change +1.02%) from baseline to W144 (Figure 1). Median eGFR increased over 144 weeks, with a median increase of 2.6 mL/min from baseline to week 144. Participants in the F/TAF arm gained a median 2.3 kg (IQR -0.9-5.8) over 3 years of follow up. Figure 1. Changes in hip and spine bone mineral density and in eGFR through Week 144 Conclusion The OLE of DISCOVER allowed for a long-term assessment (144 wks.) of F/TAF for PrEP. HIV incidence remained low with BMD and renal function parameters remaining stable through 144 weeks of follow-up. These findings demonstrate that F/TAF is a safe and effective option for long-term use in people who would benefit from PrEP. Résumé :
ABSTRACT: Character education in Islam has its own style, as well as the character values con- tained in various learning media for early childhood. This study is a follow-up study to find the effect of Movie Media with Islamic Character Values (M-ICV) in shaping "Ahlaqul Karimah" in early childhood. Using an experimental method with a control class, which involved 19 respondents of early childhood. Data shows that the ttest < t table (0.75 < 2.110), meaning that there is a significant difference in effect between the experimental class and the control class. The results conclude that M-ICV is able to form a child's "Ahlakul Karimah" slowly, because the child likes various movies with content interesting and easy to imitate. The implications of further research on movie content development for children are able to develop other aspects of children's development. Résumé :
The enthusiasm in the Tahfidz House (TH) education program especially for children shows an increasing trend in Padang, a modeling city in developing Islāmic character for children. The purpose of this study was to investigate the Tahfidz House program trends development in early childhood in Padang. This study uses qualitative methods with data collection tools, namely inter- views, direct observation, and document analysis. The results showed that: First, the Tahfidz House program attracted public interest because it offered dimensions of character formation such as in- creasing Intelligence Quotient, Emotional Quotient, and Spiritual Quotient. Second, there is a theo- logical reason in the landscape of local people to think that the Qur'an offers a blessing concept in our lives. Third, Tahfidz House existences as non-formal education has two dominant affiliations, namely pure education and based on market interests or capitalization. Résumé :
The objective of this study was to evaluate the actions offered in the Teacher Development Program from the perceptions of the teachers of the medical course of a public university that has been working with active teaching and learning methods since 2002. After each action of the program, an evaluation instrument was applied to the participants, and the answers were submitted to content analysis and then organized into three categories: infrastructure and logistics, the teaching-learning strategies and the developed content. Teachers highlight the importance of organization and planning of activities and the environment in which these actions are developed; they emphasize the importance of using teaching–learning strategies that allow greater re?ection on own practice and the integration of theory and practice. They point out that the themes proposed were timely and necessary, they recognize the importance of being in development, they talk about the motivation from the experiences lived. It is concluded that the Teacher Development is a process through which the teacher is in transformation, through a conscious and constant reflection of his own practice. This process can be promoted by institutional investments and by the regulatory mechanisms of institutions, constituted of an evaluation referenced in objective indicators, consistent with the goals to be achieved. In this sense, it is necessary to invest in permanent education, because long-term programs allow the development of the teacher´s and the institution´s needs. Keywords: Educational development, Medical education, Professional development, Qualitative research.Palavras-chave: Desenvolvimento e educação, Formação médica, Desenvolvimento profissional, Pesquisa qualitativa.Palabras claves: Desarrollo y educación, Formación médica, Desarrollo profesional, Investigación cualitativa.ReferencesABID, Kauser. Résumé :
Background: Missing outcome data in clinical trials are important determinants of internal validity; however, its burden and risk in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) mothers supplemented with vitamin D remain poorly studied. Therefore, a systematic review and meta-analysis protocol is proposed here to study it. Methods: The English language publications, irrespective of its publication date, will be searched in electronic databases for randomized controlled trials studying the above outcome. The eligible trials will undergo the risk of bias assessment by the Cochrane tool. Data on its trial design, population characteristics, interventions compared, and the outcome will be abstracted. The prevalence and incidence (in risk ratio) of missing outcome data will be estimated meta-analytically. The statistical heterogeneity assessment will include the use of Chi2 and I2 statistics. For the explanation of any substantial heterogeneity, a meta-regression analysis will ensue. The statistical significance will be determined at P <0.05 and 95% CI. All analyses will be done in Stata statistical software. If the quantitative analysis is not possible, narrative reporting will happen. Results: The reporting of the review will follow the PRISMA guideline. Statistically significant pairwise meta-analysis finding's grading will occur by the GRADE approach. Conclusion: The proposed review will estimate the prevalence of missing outcome data in vitamin D supplemented GDM mothers in clinical trials and compare its risk with the placebo recipients. Résumé :
Naturalist intelligence of early childhood has a very big role in today's modern age as the basis for children to have environmental-loving behaviour. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Loose Parts learning media on the naturalist intelligence. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with data collection techniques through multiple intelligence tests of children's intelligence instruments. The subjects of this study were 17 children aged 5-6 years. The results showed that there was a significant effect of giving Loose Parts media to the naturalist intelligence of early childhood after seeing a difference between pre-test and post-test. The use of natural-based Loose Parts media can be a means for teachers to increase children's naturalist intelligence in kindergarten and be a development of conventional media made from manufacturers in the learning cycle so far. For further research, it is recommended to look at the influence of other factors on naturalist intelligence in early childhood.

AbstractElectroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is the most effective treatment for severe depression and works by applying an electric current through the brain. The applied current generates an electric field (E-field) and seizure activity, changing the brain’s functional organization. The E-field, which is determined by electrode placement (right unilateral or bitemporal) and pulse amplitude (600, 700, or 800 milliamperes), is associated with the ECT response. However, the neural mechanisms underlying the relationship between E-field, functional brain changes, and clinical outcomes of ECT are not well understood. Here, we investigated the relationships between whole-brain E-field (Ebrain, the 90th percentile of E-field magnitude in the brain), cerebro-cerebellar functional network connectivity (FNC), and clinical outcomes (cognitive performance and depression severity). A fully automated independent component analysis framework determined the FNC between the cerebro-cerebellar networks. We found a linear relationship between Ebrain and cognitive outcomes. The mediation analysis showed that the cerebellum to middle occipital gyrus (MOG)/posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) FNC mediated the effects of Ebrain on cognitive performance. In addition, there is a mediation effect through the cerebellum to parietal lobule FNC between Ebrain and antidepressant outcomes. The pair-wise t-tests further demonstrated that a larger Ebrain was associated with increased FNC between cerebellum and MOG and decreased FNC between cerebellum and PCC, which were linked with decreased cognitive performance. This study implies that an optimal E-field balancing the antidepressant and cognitive outcomes should be considered in relation to cerebro-cerebellar functional neuroplasticity.

We study the free (associative, non-commutative) Baxter algebra on one generator. The first explicit description of this object is due to Ebrahimi-Fard and Guo. We provide an alternative description in terms of a certain class of trees, which form a linear basis for this algebra. We use this to treat other related cases, particularly that in which the Baxter map is required to be quasi-idempotent, in a unified manner. Each case corresponds to a different class of trees. Our main focus is on the underlying combinatorics. In several cases, we provide bijections between our various classes of trees and more familiar combinatorial objects including certain Schröder paths and Motzkin paths. We calculate the dimensions of the homogeneous components of these algebras (with respect to a bidegree related to the number of nodes and the number of angles in the trees) and the corresponding generating series. An important feature is that the combinatorics is captured by the idempotent case; the others are obtained from this case by various binomial transforms. We also relate free Baxter algebras to Loday's dendriform trialgebras and dialgebras. We show that the free dendriform trialgebra (respectively, dialgebra) on one generator embeds in the free Baxter algebra with a quasi-idempotent map (respectively, with a quasi-idempotent map and an idempotent generator). This refines results of Ebrahimi-Fard and Guo.

Résumé :
We reproduced a decision-making network model using the neural simulator software neural simulation tool (NEST), and we embedded the spiking neural network in a virtual robotic agent performing a simulated behavioral task. The present work builds upon the concept of replicability in neuroscience, preserving most of the computational properties in the initial model although employing a different software tool. The proposed implementation successfully obtains equivalent results from the original study, reproducing the salient features of the neural processes underlying a binary decision. Furthermore, the resulting network is able to control a robot performing an in silico visual discrimination task, the implementation of which is openly available on the EBRAINS infrastructure through the neuro robotics platform (NRP).
