Résumé :
The concept of the stoplist – a list of the words not indexed – is related to indexable matter, to the arrangement of subentries in indexes, and to search engine optimization. Stoplists were thought to have been developed in the 1950s in conjunction with automatic indexing, but a fifteenth-century Hebrew concordance to the Bible, Me’ir Nativ , contains a stoplist that is very similar to modern ones, consisting of function words such as prepositions. Since the Hebrew concordance was modeled on the Latin biblical concordance of Arlottus, which does not contain a stoplist, Me’ir Nativ must be regarded as the first example of this structure. Although stopwords were omitted from the earliest Latin concordances (without listing them), subsequent theological debate about the meanings of Latin function words led to the compilation of special concordances of such words. Current research by the author focuses on the importance of similar small words to the Masoretes, who were concerned about preserving an accurate text of the Hebrew Bible, and may possibly have had an index of such words.

Since the coronavirus outbreak or known as COVID-19 spread throughout the world, especially in Indonesia. The Governor of DKI Jakarta issued several policies to deal with the spread of COVID-19. However, this policy has become a conversation on social media such as Youtube. Through audience interaction in the comments column, giving lots of positive and negative sentiment comments, the audience response is classified using the sentiment analysis technique of comments to find out which sentiments are positive, negative, and neutral for each comment. In this study, the data were taken from news video comments. The method used is the Support Vector Machine and the selection feature uses the Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF). The data used amounted to 945 Indonesian language comments. Accurate results obtained by using the addition of a stoplist at the preprocessing stage a.

Résumé :
Sentiment analysis is an essential process which is important to many natural language applications. In this paper, we apply two models for Arabic sentiment analysis to the ASTD and ATDFS datasets, in both 2-class and multiclass forms. Model MC1 is a 2-layer CNN with global average pooling, followed by a dense layer. MC2 is a 2-layer CNN with max pooling, followed by a BiGRU and a dense layer. On the difficult ASTD 4-class task, we achieve 73.17%, compared to 65.58% reported by Attia et al., 2018. For the easier 2-class task, we achieve 90.06% with MC1 compared to 85.58% reported by Kwaik et al., 2019. We carry out experiments on various data splits, to match those used by other researchers. We also pay close attention to Arabic preprocessing and include novel steps not reported in other works. In an ablation study, we investigate the effect of two steps in particular, the processing of emoticons and the use of a custom stoplist. On the 4-class task, these can make a difference of up to 4.27% and 5.48%, respectively. On the 2-class task, the maximum improvements are 2.95% and 3.87%.

Introduction: Introduction: A variety of pain assessment tools exist for children, however none of the current scales were created specifically for family use. Further, none provide direct guidance with regards to pain treatment threshold. This study aimed to validate a novel, three faced, coloured coded (red, yellow, green), family-friendly pain tool, the Stoplight Pain Scale, by comparing it to the widely accepted and validated Faces Pain Scale-Revised (FPS-R). This novel tool has the capability to guide families with regards to treatment, as well as measure pain. Methods: Methods: A prospective observational cohort study was conducted at the Stollery Childrens Hospital emergency department (ED) (Edmonton, Alberta) from November, 2014 to February, 2017. Demographic information was collected, and patients (3-12 years) and their caregivers were asked to rate their pain using the novel Stoplight Pain Scale as well as the FPS-R. Pain was measured at presentation to the ED, immediately following painful procedures, and thirty minutes after analgesia administration. Patients and their caregivers also indicated their preferred scale for assessing pain. Results: Results: A purposeful random sample of 227 patients were included for analyses; 61/227 (26.9%) of patients were 3-5 years old and 166/227 (73.1%)were 6-12 years old. 53/227 (23.3%) of patients had been previously hospitalized. Correlation between the two pain scales was consistently fair to moderate; using Kappa Statistics, a baseline correlation for Stoplight and FPS-R was fair for both caregivers (0.38, 95% CI 0.28 0.48) and patients (0.36 95% CI 0.27-0.45). The Stoplight Pain Scale had fair to moderate correlation between caregiver and patient scores, (0.37, 95% CI 0.27-0.47), compared to FPS-R which showed poor to fair agreement between caregiver and child scores (0.20, 95% CI 0.12-0.29). Regardless of age or hospitalization status, 64% of patients (139/218) and 54% caregivers (118/220) preferred the Stoplight Pain scale (p=0.001). Conclusion: Conclusions: The Stoplight Pain Scale correlates moderately well with FPS-R, a validated pain assessment tool for children and shows good correlation between patients and caregivers assessment of reported pain. The Stoplight Pain Scale is a simple, easy to administer tool that may have a role in empowering family involvement in ED pain management. Future research should focus on at-home study of the tool.

Résumé :
Adolescence is characterized by increasing incidence of health risk behaviors, including experimentation with drugs and alcohol. To fill the gap in our understanding of the associations between risky decision-making and health risk behaviors, we investigated associations between laboratory-based risky decision-making using the Stoplight task and self-reported health risk behaviors. Given that there has been no examination of potential age differences in the associations between risky decision-making and health risk behaviors, we also examined whether the association of risky decision-making with health risk behaviors is consistent across adolescence and adulthood using two-group structural equation modeling (SEM). The results indicated significant differences across the two age groups: adolescents (17–20 year olds) who took more risks on the Stoplight task reported greater frequency and earlier onset of substance use, whereas stoplight performance was not associated with substance use frequency or onset among adults (31–61 year olds). Our findings suggest that a laboratory-based measure of risky decision-making is significantly related to health risk behaviors among adolescents but not among adults.

Résumé :
ObjectiveTo compare simulated driving reaction time (RT) between concussed and control individuals and examine Driving-RTs relationship with computerized neurocognitive testing RT (CNT-RT).BackgroundConcussed patients have impaired RT and neurocognition following injury that may linger and impair driving performance. Limited research has used direct methods to assess driving-RT post-concussion.Design/MethodsWe employed a cross-sectional laboratory study among 14 concussed and 14 healthy age, sex, and driving experience-matched controls (female: 60%; Age: 20.3 ± 1.1 years). Participants completed driving-RT and CNT-RT (CNS Vital Signs) within 48 hours of asymptomatic (15.9 ± 9.8 days post-concussion). Driving-RT consisted of two simulated driving scenarios: Stoplight (green to yellow stoplight change) and Pedestrian (child running in front of vehicle). CNT-RT outcomes included: simple-, complex-, Stroop-, and composite-RT. Independent t-tests and Hedges' g effect sizes assessed between-group RT differences (seconds), and Pearson correlation coefficients examined relationships between driving-RT and CNT-RT (a = 0.05) outcomes.ResultsConcussed participants demonstrated slower complex-RT than controls (mean difference: 0.06 s; 95% CI: 0.11–0.01; p = 0.03; g = 0.86). No other driving- or CNT-RT outcomes were statistically significant (p = 0.06), but Stoplight- (p = 0.13; g = 0.61) and Pedestrian-RT (p = 0.40; g = 0.36) demonstrated low-to high-magnitude effects for concussed deficits. Complex-, Stroop-, and composite-RT moderately correlated with Stoplight-RT (p 0.05; r range: −0.19 to 0.05).ConclusionsPost-concussion driving- and CNT-RT outcomes overall normalized once asymptomatic, but complex-RT and large magnitude effects may indicate lingering deficits. Driving- and CNT-RT measures moderately correlated with each other, but a lack of strong correlation likely indicates driving responsiveness is not thoroughly assessed using traditional CNT post-concussion, which may have vital driving safety implications.

Résumé :
This research developed and tested the concept of advanced detection and cycle length adaptation as a strategy for providing priority for transit vehicles. In a departure from control strategies that rely on detection only a few seconds in advance of the stopline, a control algorithm was developed in which transit vehicles are detected two to three cycles in advance of their arrival at an intersection stopline, and phase lengths were then constrained so that the transit-serving phase was green for a 40-s predicted arrival window. Methods were developed for selecting whether to extend or compress phase lengths to shift a green period to cover the arrival window. Adaptive control was combined with actuated control using traffic density and queue length estimation, transit stopline actuation, and peer-to-peer communication for coordination in the peak travel direction. The method was applied by simulation to Boston, Massachusetts’ Huntington Avenue corridor, which is served by a light-rail line running partly in mixed traffic and partly in a median reservation. The prediction/adaptation algorithm resulted in 82% of the trains arriving during the green phase. This control strategy resulted in substantial improvements to transit travel time and regularity with negligible impacts on private traffic and pedestrians, and was found to be more effective than simple preemption.

Résumé :
Understanding how older adults successfully navigate complex choices like driving requires the consideration of processing speed, inhibitory control, attentional processes, and risk management, and the context within which these decisions occur. The current study employed the Flanker task, the Stoplight task, and a personality inventory with 43 younger adults and 49 older adults either while they were alone or being observed by two same-sex, similarly aged peers. On the Flanker task, older adults performed more slowly, but with comparable accuracy. On the Stoplight task, there was a significant main effect of Context, and an Age-Group by Sex interaction, even after controlling for response time: All groups had a greater number of crashes when alone, and young adult males had significantly more crashes than any other group. These results emphasize the importance of considering the broader context of decision-making.

Résumé :
AbstractSocial neurodevelopmental imbalance models posit that peer presence causes heightened adolescent risk-taking particularly during early adolescence. Evolutionary theory suggests that these effects would be most pronounced in males. However, the small but growing number of experimental studies on peer presence effects in adolescent risky decision-making showed mixed findings, and the vast majority of such studies did not test for the above-described gender and adolescent phase moderation effects. Moreover, most of those studies did not assess the criterion validity of the employed risky decision-making tasks. The current study was designed to investigate the abovementioned hypotheses among a sample of 327 ethnically-diverse Dutch early and mid-adolescents (49.80% female; Mage = 13.61). No main effect of peer presence on the employed risky-decision making task (i.e., the stoplight game) was found. However, the results showed a gender by peer presence moderation effect. Namely, whereas boys and girls engaged in equal levels of risks when they completed the stoplight game alone, boys engaged in more risk-taking than girls when they completed this task together with two same-sex peers. In contrast, adolescent phase did not moderate peer presence effects on risk-taking. Finally, the results showed that performance on the stoplight game predicted self-reported real-world risky traffic behavior, alcohol use and delinquency. Taken together, using a validated task, the present findings demonstrate that individual differences (i.e., gender) can determine whether the social environment (i.e., peer presence) affect risk-taking in early- and mid-adolescents. The finding that performance on a laboratory risky decision-making task can perhaps help identify adolescents that are vulnerable to diverse types of heightened risk behaviors is an important finding for science as well as prevention and intervention efforts.

Résumé :
Environmental reservoirs of zooxanthellae are essential for coral larvae settlement; understanding where they occur and how they are maintained is important for coral reef ecology. This study investigated the dispersal of Symbiodinium spp. by the stoplight parrotfish Sparisoma viride , which had high mean densities of viable and cultivable Symbiodinium (3207–8900 cells ml −1 ) in faeces. Clades A, B and G were detected using amplified chloroplast ribosomal sequences (cp23S-HVR), and corresponded with diet preferences of fish and the environmental Symbiodinium diversity of the region. Cells are constantly dispersed in the water column and deposited in the substrate at a local level (86 ± 17.8 m 2 ), demonstrating that parrotfishes are vectors for short-distance dispersal of zooxanthellae. Such dispersal could constitute a key role in the maintenance of environmental Symbiodinium reservoirs.

Résumé :
For management efforts to succeed in Caribbean fisheries, local fishers must support and be willing to comply with fishing regulations. This is more likely when fishers are included in a stock assessment process that utilizes robust scientific evidence, collected in collaboration with fishers, to evaluate the health of fish stocks. Caribbean parrotfishes are important contributors to coral reef ecosystem health while also contributing to local fisheries. Scientifically robust stock assessments require regional species-specific information on age-based key life history parameters, derived from fish age estimates. Evaluation of the accuracy of age estimation methods for fish species is a critical initial step in managing species for long-term sustainable harvest. The current study resulted from a collaborative research program between fish biologists and local fishers investigating age, growth, and reproductive biology of the seven parrotfish species landed in U.S. Caribbean fisheries; specifically, we validated age estimation for stoplight parrotfish Sparisoma viride and queen parrotfish Scarus vetula. This is the first study to directly validate age estimation for any parrotfish species through analysis of Δ14C from eye lens cores. Our age estimation validation results show that enumeration of opaque zones from thin sections of sagittal otoliths for a Sparisoma and a Scarus species provides accurate age estimates. The oldest stoplight parrotfish and queen parrotfish in the Δ14C age estimation validation series were 14 y and 16 y; while the oldest stoplight parrotfish and queen parrotfish we aged to-date using the Δ14C validated age estimation method were 20 y and 21 y, respectively. Fish longevity (maximum age attained/life span) is a key life history parameter used for estimation of natural mortality, survivorship, and lifetime reproductive output. Past reviews on parrotfishes from the Pacific and Atlantic concluded that most Caribbean/western Atlantic parrotfish species are relatively short-lived with estimated maximum ages ranging from 3–9 y. However, information from our collaborative research in the U.S. Caribbean combined with recently published age estimates for Brazilian parrotfish species indicate that many western Atlantic parrotfishes are relatively long-lived with several species attaining maximum ages in excess of 20 y.

Résumé :
Persistent epiphora significantly worsens one’s quality of life. A commonly known method of treatment of complete obstruction of the lacrimal canaliculi is conjunctivodacryocystorhinostomy with placement of a glass Jones tube. Unfortunately, the use of such a prosthesis of the lacrimal tract often results in certain complications, the most frequent of which include extrusion or superior and inferior migration. For the last several years, a modified version of the Jones tube—the StopLoss Jones tube (SLJT)—has been available. It almost eliminates the possibility of extrusion. However, inferior migration still remains an important problem. When that happens, it is necessary to proceed surgically. In this paper, we describe an endoscopically-guided technique of management of an inferiorly dislocated SLJT.
