Résumé :
Sum and difference squeezing of the field amplitude are higher-order squeezing effects. These effects are studied in the Raman process under the short-time approximation based on a fully quantum mechanical approach. It is shown that for uncorrelated modes, the normal squeezing in the sum and difference-frequency field depends on the sum and difference squeezing of input field modes respectively, which can generate normal squeezing in the sum and difference-frequency field mode. All the possibilities for obtaining sum and difference squeezing in two modes and its dependence on squeezing of individual field modes are investigated. We have also shown that if the high-frequency mode is in a coherent state and the low-frequency mode is squeezed, the field state will be difference squeezed if the amplitude of the high-frequency mode is large enough; otherwise the state may or may not be difference squeezed. If both modes are squeezed, then the state may or may not be difference squeezed. These higher-order squeezing effects are useful in the production of squeezing in the Raman process.

Résumé :
Under the short-time approximation, Giri and Gupta1 investigated the sum and difference squeezing of the field amplitude in the Raman process. The relations between the normal squeezing and the sum and difference squeezing of the field amplitude are explicitly exhibited. They argued that the sum and difference squeezing of the field amplitude are essentially the squeezing in higher-order sense. Upon verification of the results of Giri and Gupta, we observe that the entire calculations and the conclusions thereof are misleading and baseless. To substantiate our claim, we give the correct expressions for the useful variances. Interestingly, there is no possibility of getting normal squeezing, sum squeezing and difference squeezing of the input state prepared in coherent state.

Résumé :
We consider the problem of an atomic three-level system in interaction with a radiation field. The time evolution of the system, in atomic ladder and Λ configurations, is solved exactly assuming a coherent-state as the initial atomic state. We calculate the atomic spin-squeezing, the atomic entropy-squeezing, and their variances. We show that the spin-squeezing and the entropy-squeezing exhibit similar time dependence.

Résumé :
Dipole squeezing of the atom in the presence of another atom is investigated for the one-photon and two-photon transition mechanism with the initial atoms in the two-atom squeezed state and the field in a vacuum, a coherent, or a squeezed state. For a vacuum input, the degree of squeezing is shown to depend on the photon multiplicity 'm' and the superposition angles of the atoms, θ1 and θ2. One of the quadratures of the atomic polarization is found to exhibit permanent squeezing only for some nonzero values of θ1, as well as θ2. The effect of θ2 on the dipole squeezing, however, is found to be negligible for the initial field in a coherent or a squeezed state. A comparison with the dipole squeezing of a single atom is also presented.

Résumé :
By extending the usual two-mode squeezing operator S2 = exp[iλ(Q1P2 + Q2P1)] to the three-mode squeezing operator S3 = exp{iλ[Q1(P2 + P3) + Q2(P1 + P3) + Q3(P1 + P2)]}, we obtain the corresponding three-mode squeezed coherent state. The higher order properties of this state, such as higher order squeezing and higher order sub-Possonian photon statistics, are investigated. It is found that the new squeezed state not only can be squeezed to all even orders but also exhibits squeezing enhancement compared with the usual cases. In addition, we examine the violation of the Bell inequality for the three-mode squeezed states by using the formalism of Wigner representation.

Résumé :
In this paper, we construct and investigate the nonclassical properties of the squeezing and rotating coherent state (SRCS) via a generalized squeezed operator by introducing a novel parameter r. In a particular case r = 0, SRCS reduces to the normal squeezed coherent state (SCS). The influence of r is studied in terms of squeezing and quantum statistical properties. Our results show that in the SCS not only is squeezing enhanced but also is rotated by the parameter r. Our discussion about the fidelity between SRCS and SCS shows that the fidelity values decrease with increasing parameter r. The experimental scheme for producing SRCS is also given via a self-Kerr medium and non-degenerate parametric amplifier.

Based on the Wigner function, we clarify that this state is a non-Gaussian state, while the original two-mode squeezed vacuum state (TMSVS) is a Gaussian state. Besides, the SMPA-TMSVS is sum squeezing, as well as difference squeezing. In particular, the manifestation of the sum squeezing and the difference squeezing in the SMPA-TMSVS becomes more pronounced when increasing parameters r and e. An analysis of the second-order and amplitude-squared (AS) squeezing is presented for the two atoms prepared in a two-atom squeezed state using coherent and squeezed field inputs. The system produce strong sqeezing and superposition angle (θ) is more effective for small values of average photon number [Formula: see text] as compared to that of large one. The degree of squeezing of both types increases as θ increases for coherent field input with small [Formula: see text]. Some values of θ for the initial field in a squeezed-vacuum state with any value of input squeezing can make one of the quadrature of the both types of squeezing permanently squeezed for T≥0. For the initial field in a more general squeezed state, the second-order and AS squeezing behave randomly for different values of θ.

Exact time-evolution is analytically derived from a coherent photon-exciton system subjected to a monochromatic radiation field resonant with the exciton-biexciton transition. It is shown that biexcitons, which appear under the resonant pumping, might periodically behave as squeezed quasiparticles, if photons or/and excitons are initially in squeezed states. The squeezing degree of the initial photons or/and excitons, the pumping intensity and the off-resonance detuning are demonstrated to govern the transfer of squeezing from the photon-exciton system to the biexciton.

For the degree of polarization squeezing, we use a definition written in the final form by the authors and also used in earlier papers. We investigate the Nth order amplitude squeezing in the fan-state |ξ;2k,f> F which is a linear superposition of the 2k-quantum nonlinear coherent states. Unlike in usual states where an ellipse is the symbol of squeezing, a 4k-winged flower results in the fan state. We first derive the analytical expression of squeezing for arbitrary k, N, f and then study in detail the case of a laser-driven trapped ion characterized by a specific form of the nonlinear function f. We show that the lowest order in which squeezing may appear and the number of directions along which the amplitude may be squeezed depend only on k whereas the precise directions of squeezing are determined also by the other physical parameters involved. Finally, we present a scheme to produce such fan-states.

Résumé :
Two “amplified” quantum states, that is, amplified coherent state (ACS) and amplified squeezed vacuum (ASV), are considered in this paper by applying operator [Formula: see text] on coherent state (CS) and squeezed vacuum (SV), respectively. Here [Formula: see text] [Formula: see text] denotes a amplification factor and [Formula: see text]) denote the creation (annihilation) operator. Along these two lines, we make a comparative analysis of properties for ACS and ASV. The considered properties include density matrix elements, Wigner function, mean photon number, second-order autocorrelation function, and quadrature squeezing. We derive analytical expressions and make numerical simulations for all the properties. The noteworthy results include: (1) the ACS has antibunching and squeezing characters; (2) the ASV will have the bunching and antibunching effect in small initial squeezing.

Résumé :
We present a detailed analysis of spin squeezing of the one-axis twisting model with a many-body phase dephasing, which is induced by external field fluctuation in a two-mode Bose-Einstein condensates. Even in the presence of the dephasing, our analytical results show that the optimal initial state corresponds to a coherent spin state $|\theta_{0}, \phi_0\rangle$ with the polar angle $\theta_0=\pi/2$. If the dephasing rate $\gamma\ll S^{-1/3}$, where $S$ is total atomic spin, we find that the smallest value of squeezing parameter (i.e., the strongest squeezing) obeys the same scaling with the ideal one-axis twisting case, namely $\xi^2\propto S^{-2/3}$. While for a moderate dephasing, the achievable squeezing obeys the power rule $S^{-2/5}$, which is slightly worse than the ideal case. When the dephasing rate $\gamma>S^{1/2}$, we show that the squeezing is weak and neglectable.

In the present paper, we consider the interaction of a single mode radiation initially in a coherent state with an assembly of two two-level atoms in some different states using the Hamiltonian, H = ω(a+a + Sz)+g(a S+ + a+ S-) in the natural units, where a+ and a are the creation and annihilation operators for radiation, Sz, S± are the collective Dicke operators, g is the coupling constant, ω is the energy of the photons and energy difference between the two atomic levels. We solve it exactly. We study ordinary squeezing and amplitude-squared squeezing of radiation for the general operators, [Formula: see text] and Yθ=1/2(a2e-iθ+a+2eiθ), when atoms are fully excited, super-radiant or in the ground state. We get a large ordinary squeezing (nearly 88% squeezing) for the super-radiant atomic state, at a time, which is 0.451 of the first revival time, and this should be easily observable. We also get a large amplitude-squared squeezing (nearly 20%) at the time, which is about 0.033 of the first revival time. Variation of variances near their minima with coupling time gt, square root of mean photon number |α| and phase are also discussed.

Amplitude-squared (AS) squeezing has been investigated for the m-photon Jaynes-Cummings model assuming the field to be initially in the squeezed states. The role played by intensity-dependent coupling has also been discussed. It has been shown that for the large initial average photon number [Formula: see text] with odd values of m, AS squeezing revokes permanently whereas with even values it recurs periodically. As m increases the revocation is hastened and the duration of occurrence decreases. Higher values of m for the initial field in a squeezed vacuum state can make one of the quadrature permanently squeezed. The AS squeezing behavior for two initial states of the atom, i.e., ground state versus excited state is also compared.

In this paper, we introduce the self-consistent field approximation to treat with the nonlinear interaction among spin waves. Then temperature-dependent Bogoliubov transformation is introduced to generate a new representation which engenders the transition from the zero temperature to the finite temperature. At last, temperature-dependent quantum fluctuation properties of magnons are discussed in the thermal field. At lower temperature, we find that the fluctuation of spin-component at some given time regions can be below the zero-point fluctuation level of the vacuum state and exhibit a periodical squeezing behavior. In particular, these squeezed effects vanish with the increasing of temperature. These squeezing effects differ from the previous studies.

We study the ground state of a uniform Bose gas at zero temperature in the Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov (HFB) approximation. We find a solution of the HFB equations which obeys the Hugenholtz–Pines theorem. This solution imposes a macroscopic squeezing to the condensed state and as a consequence displays large particle number fluctuations. Particle number conservation is restored by building the appropriate U(1) invariant ground state via the superposition of the squeezed states. The condensed particle number distribution of this new ground state is calculated as well as its fluctuations which present a normal behavior.

Abstract We propose a simple scheme to realize the persistent spin-nematic squeezing in a spinor Bose–Einstein condensate by rapidly turning-off the external magnetic field at a time that maximal spin-nematic squeezing occurs. We observe that the optimal spin-nematic squeezing can be maintained in a nearly fixed direction. For a proper initial magnetic field, the optimal squeezing can be obviously enhanced. We further construct a spin-mixing interferometer, where the quantum correlation of the squeezed state (generated by our scheme) is fully utilized in the phase measurement, and show the phase sensitivity of the interferometer has a significant enhancement.

Résumé :
In this paper we introduce a new squeeze operator which is a combination of the two single photon squeezing operator and two mode correlated operator. We construct the general coherent-state wave function, and study the effects of this operator on the photon number sum and difference. We find in absence of the squeezing parameters λ1 and λ2 both the sum and the difference are conserved by the two mode correlated operator. The squeezing phenomenon is discussed, and the minimum uncertainty state is found for small value of the squeezing parameter λ. Besides the Glauber second order correlation function, the statistical investigations are carried out for the quasi-probability distribution functions (P-representation, Wigner function and Q-function). The discussion related to the phase space distribution function is given, and the matrix elements of the density operator are calculated. The photocount distribution is also considered.

Résumé :
We consider a system of mesoscopic Josephson junction interacting with nonclassical radiation field and investigate any order squeezing for the mesoscopic Josephson junction subsystem. Our results show that if the field is initially prepared in a squeezed vacuum and the junction is in its lowest energy state (the vacuum state), then as the time evolves the Josephson junction subsystem can exhibit any order squeezing.

Résumé :
The behavior of the mean photon number, photon number variance and field squeezing is investigated for the two two-level atoms prepared in a multiatom squeezed state coupled to the vacuum or thermal field. The value of superposition angle (θ) of the atomic states is found to affect the photon number variance as well as field squeezing. The bound on the sun-Poissonian field concerning the value of θ and input mean photon number is determined. One of the field quadrature is found to exhibit permanent squeezing for the vacuum input in a small range of the value of θ. It is shown that the input thermal photons degrade the sub-Poissonian character and spontaneous squeezing. However, a considerable amount of squeezing is obtained even in the presence of thermal photons.

Résumé :
We consider for the first time nonperturbative gluon state evolution up to the second order of smallness in time. Investigating gluon fluctuations at the nonperturbative stage we have proved theoretically the possibility of the existence of both single- and two-mode gluon squeezed states. The emergence of such remarkable states becomes pоssible owing to threeand four-gluon self-interactions. The three-gluon self-interaction leads to the squeezing effect at the next time stage of nonperturbative evolution. We have shown that the nonperturbative evolution during a short time leads both to colour squeezing and entanglement of gluons.

Résumé :
We study the two-photon interaction between a three-level equidistant radiator (atom, molecule) with different dipole transitions and the single-mode cavity field. It is supposed that the three-level radiator is laser cooled and trapped into the ground vibrational state, in which the vibrational quantum number [Formula: see text]. In the proposed two-photon Jaynes–Cummings model (JCM) of a three-level atom at the initial moment [Formula: see text], the quantized cavity field is prepared in the squeezed vacuum state and the three-level radiator in the first excited state [Formula: see text]. By using the exact analytical solution for the state-vector of the coupled atom-field system, the amplitude-squared squeezing of the quantized cavity field is examined as a function of the [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] parameters. In this situation, higher-order squeezing has the tendency towards oscillations, but the exact periodicity of these oscillations is violated by the analogy with the second-order squeezing.

Résumé :
In this paper, using the principle of quantum state superposition, we report a nonclassical quantum state which is constructed by repeatedly operating the number operator on the coherent state. Nonclassical effects of this state are discussed by photon-number distribution, sub-Poissonian statistics, anti-bunching and negativity of Wigner function and squeezing effect. Our work provides an important nonclassical resource, which may be used in quantum communication and quantum optics.
