Résumé :
The aim of the authors in this book was to provide a supplementary text for studieson gender issues in Islamic societies. Ruggles Fairchild (editor) notes that amore significant aim of the book was to broaden not only the geographical realmbut the scope and the time frame of analysis of the studies on gender in Islamicsocieties. This book examines the implicit economic, social and political influenceof elite Muslim women in their respective societies by shedding light on thewomen's patronage of architecture, clothing and art. Authors argue that suchvisible expressions - products of women who were otherwise invisible in society -were, and are, reflective of women's implicit agency (means of exerting power insociety) in ancient Islamic societies. The main premise of the authors is that whilewomen have been absent in the explicit representation (depiction) of art, architecture and society, they have in fact been very much present in thebackground of these realms of Islamic society. While other studies of gender have emerged from consideration of social, economic and political structures in Muslim societies, few (if at all, argue theauthors) have emerged from an examination of "visual arts" or "visual culture" (p.2). This is the void the book seeks to fill. In this sense this book is very important,as it sheds light on the subtle agency of women in ancient Islamic societies andchallenges the stereotypical notion that women were (are) subservient, mutedentities in Islamic societies (past or present). In their challenge of the stereotypicalview of Muslim women in ancient Islamic societies, the authors also question the ...

Résumé :
In this paper, the authors argue that Franz Boas had a coherent theory of the secret society, which he did not systematically develop anywhere, but which can be reconstructed from several of his works. The authors are not dealing with the whole theory, but only with the postulate of the warfare origin of secret societies (which later became the foundation of the Männerbund theory). Namely, Boas believed that the secret societies of the North American Indians were originally warlike, but that by the beginning of the 20th century they either retained only the functions of initiation and education, or were transformed into therapeutic and dance societies. Although he claimed that the mythology of the Indians did not provide additional insights into the origins of secret societies, his dealings with the myth of the “culture heroˮ and the “tricksterˮ proved the contrary. The authors try to go a step further and find new contributions for the study of the origins of secret societies in North America in the myth of Wolf as the brother (father) of the “culture hero.ˮ

Résumé :
In this article, the authors explore the definition of a knowledge society and why such a society is desirable in the development of nations. First, this paper reviews the literature on knowledge societies and notes a gap in qualitative approaches which are amenable for framing development knowledge policies. The authors then describe a conceptual framework that depicts a knowledge society in terms of 13 dimensions that span infrastructure, governance, human capital and culture. This framework is validated with published proxy indicators from reputable sources such as the United Nations and the World Bank. In a field exercise, this paper determines the usability of the framework for policy discussion using Singapore, Nigeria, the United States and the United Arab Emirates as the foci of our analysis. The authors conclude by suggesting that such a qualitative framework is useful for policy-makers and other stake-holders to understand that the evolution to a knowledge society is a journey that requires benchmarks, environmental intelligence and an emphasis on the tacit structure of knowledge for sustainable advantage.

Résumé :
Comparative studies of mass political culture based on surveys, such as the World Values Survey (WVS), typically leap to using aggregate-level statistics for the entire population. No previous analyses of the WVS have examined the value differences associated with a common source of cleavage: ethnicity. The authors test for ethnic differences on 10 democratic values in 16 WVS countries from 1990 to 1993. Ethnic differences within countries on these indicators are often far larger than the aggregate differences between countries. Of 259 paired comparisons between the majority and the minority groups within the 16 countries on the 10 indicators, by chance alone the authors should have found about 13 statistically significant differences; instead, they found 134. Thus, the differences in support for democratic values between ethnic groups within countries are far from just a random phenomenon.

Résumé :
Historians of science have long acknowledged the important role that journals play in the scientific enterprise. They both secure the shared values of a scientific community and certify what that community takes to be licensed knowledge. The advent of the first learned periodicals in the mid-seventeenth century was therefore a major event. But why did this event happen when it did, and how was the permanence of the learned journal secured? This paper reveals some of the answers. It examines the shifting fortunes of one of the earliest of natural-philosophical periodicals, the Philosophical Transactions, launched in London in 1665 by Henry Oldenburg. The paper shows how fraught the enterprise of journal publishing was in the Europe of that period, and, not least, it draws attention to a number of publications that arose out of the commercial realm of the Restoration to rival (or parody) Oldenburg's now famous creation. By doing so it helps restore to view the hard work that underpinned the republic of letters. And as for natural philosophy, is it not removed from Oxford and Cambridge to Gresham College in London, and to be learned out of their gazettes?Thomas Hobbes, Behemoth (written c. 1668).

The purpose of this article is to present the basis for building trust within the European Union, through which the authors illustrate the importance of the protection of personal data as a fundamental requirement in both the EU and its Member States’ legal environments. In addition, the authors have examined the Chinese Social Credit System, which by its design and operation is not primarily focused on building trust and is therefore not the most appropriate solution for building trust. The authors conducted a SWOT analysis comparing the EU and Chinese principles to achieve their objectives. They also conducted interviews with people who have personal experience with the Chinese credit point system. Based on the results obtained, they sought to justify their basic hypothesis that this type of credit system could not be applied within the EU.

Résumé :
Abstract Single-author literary societies were formed in the late 1800's by enthusiasts who sought to promote the work and preserve the effects of contemporary or near-contemporary British authors. Though often mocked for their cult-like devotion, these societies filled a gap in the academic study of modern authors when the ancient universities were still debating whether English studies constituted a legitimate discipline. Unfazed by established canons of literary value, society members presented papers, compiled and published bibliographies, produced scholarly editions, and acquired manuscripts and literary relics which might otherwise have gone into private collections. This article briefly rehearses the history of these societies and their continued development with an emphasis on the sometimes awkward, sometimes productive relations between the professional and the general reader.

Résumé :
This thesis explores a short drama of Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach, Without Love. It provides not only a complete English translation of the work, but also an interpretative introduction. By first examining the life of Ebner-Eschenbach, I am able to provide insight to the origins of the play. Because Ebner-Eschenbach faced so much opposition in her drama writing career this one act play becomes more relevant. It contains similar themes to her other works such as: gender roles, the role of the aristocracy, and love in marriage. Without Love examines the role of love in marriage by providing the reader with a comedic scenario in which a couple claims to marry without love. While purporting a marriage without love, there is in fact a great deal of love in the play. Love is an enabling power in the story that causes great change in the characters f lives. Ebner-Eschenbach uses love to argue against traditional romantic marriages and lay the pathway for a future where women can reject the patriarchal society and love for themselves. There is however, a distinct irony in the story because the title is after all, Without Love. I propose that love is indeed everywhere throughout the play and that Eschenbach uses this theme to push her own agenda of the modern women in aristocratic societies. Eschenbach writes in both a pre-modern and modern style and uses love to ensure the preservation of her own aristocratic class while advocating for social reform for all classes.

The main goals of this research were to understand how the dynamics associated with the copyright system imply writers, specifically in fiction literature, and which are their opinions on the current configuration of the book chain and copyright, addressing these topics from the point of view of digital hegemony. At the same time, it was important to understand how this phenomenon is seen in the literary environment and in the perspective of the authors that have been in the market since the time when the printed book was the only possibility of reading and the authors who, in turn, have a career mostly developed in the digital age. Although the findings suggest a certain dissatisfaction with the established models, the empirical study revealed that the authors are not very focused on other possibilities, namely those ones produced by the internet and digital media, so they still prefer the classic form of publishing, defending the importance that the book in printed format has for readers circle and for themselves

Résumé :
Dissertação de Mestrado em Ciências Jurídico-Forenses apresentada à Faculdade de Direito
“There’s only one great occupation that can change the world: that’s real rock and roll.”
“There’s only one great occupation that can change the world: that’s real rock and roll.” The quote’s author is Lou Reed, famous songwriter and member of the band The Velvet Underground. It’s a provocative statement, despite the fact that its scope is more conceptual than realistic. It is unquestionable that other driving forces can change the world, but the north-american musician was referring to a very particular form of change: the one that takes place within the individual. Lou came from a very different time. Meanwhile, the winds have changed, ink on paper became pixels, and records turned into bits, but the rock ‘n’ roll spirit has endured and it still embodies the same pedigree that is common to all great works of art: the ability to challenge the status quo, to adapt it to the needs of modernity, to provoke thought, defend freedom of speech and promote ideals of justice, equal opportunities, tolerance, and above all, freedom. Music’s genetic code (here described as rock music, but of which so many other genres are equally great exemples) is, after all, not so different from that of Law. Despite differing when it comes to the choice of working materials, both carry the urgency in seeking and disseminating democractic values, in the most effective and innovative way achievable. Law has always been, and always will be, an integral part of Culture. This dissertation is born in this convergence point.Music is an art form that has been with us, as sentient beings, for a long time. Being a direct reflection of the way Man looks at Himself and sees the world around Him, it is possible to sketch a very faithful timeline of the History of humanity by studying the evolution of musical tendencies over time. And as a particularly ethereal artistic form, which’s existence on the physical world is much more subjective than other forms of artistic expression, there are very particular legal questions that arise from the moment the musical work leaves the artist's "hand", to the instant it reaches the listener. We are, at heart, attributing legal dimensions to a sound: to any sound, that somewhere, someone, will be interested in listening to.This dissertation will start from this motto to focus on the specificities of musical author rights, and more specifically, on the mechanisms used for its protection. And Music today, as it always has, faces the same challenges as the rest of society: a society of information that knows no borders. These days, more than ever, we’re all able to remotely have access to an incredible archive of musical works, from all times and from all authors. A remarkable feat for all of us consumers indeed, but in between, lost somewhere among the invisible radio waves or the bits stored on any server, a tangle of author rights was left behind. The challenge proposed here is to unravel this skein. We’ll go through the most (and the least) common contractual regimes for composers and authors, alluding not only to our national laws, inspired by european tendencies, but also to foreign legal systems. Then, we’ll ask ourselves about the role of record companies and publishers today: although they can act as a launching pad for many authors, they can also covertly act against them, subverting the spirit of author rights, and resorting to dubious legal tactics to hijack profits from the artists' work. Gray areas, where there is a need to protect author’s rights, even from those who should be protecting them in the first place. Furthermore, the present dissertation serves as an opportunity to address the challenges posed by digital evolutions in Music, and by the decreasing role of the so-called “big labels”, caused by the invention of new technologies, diluting the need for a middleman. It is also an occasion to question these topics from a critical standpoint, and to compare them to the advantages of the traditional distribution models. After all, streaming services have made us rethink the concept of "owning" and "purchasing" Music, which can be problematic considering the dangers that immediate accessibility (enhanced by streaming) entails for a possible devaluation of the artistic work itself, with harmful consequences to the protection of the authors. Finally, we ask ourselves (or rather, we deepen the discussion…) about the role that the infamous collecting societies will have in an increasingly digital society, intolerant to the lack of transparency. All this, in a dynamic retrospective and prospective approach, looking forward without forgetting the past, in this bisector between the intangibility of Art and the concreteness of Law, and harmonizing the emotional with the rational.

Résumé :
AbstractIn this introductory chapter the authors discuss ways of studying change that go beyond a chronology of events and sweeping laws of evolution and that take into account the ways in which people live through, experience, desire, create, and challenge change. How can we‚ at the same time‚ gain a longue durée perspective on societal transformations and give a truthful account of the ways our different interlocutors describe, name, and understand the changes they are living and the kinds of future they expect? The authors first situate this question within broader disciplinary debates, focusing particularly on debates in anthropology and its focus on studying history and change through ethnography. Ethnography is a crucial instrument for uncovering and analyzing the relationship between emic and etic perspectives of change, as well as the complex and often contradictory interplay of continuity and change beyond linear periodization and teleological presuppositions. The authors argue for a combination of multiple methods of investigation that borrow from both ethnography and other methods of data collection and analysis, and for an analytical framework that articulates three levels of analysis: the unit of analysis, the empirical data and the metanarratives of change.

AbstractAs the chapters in this volume have shown, resilience is a multifaceted and malleable concept that can be fruitfully applied to a wide range of phenomena at all levels of society. At the same time, there is a distinct danger of concept stretching. In this concluding chapter, we look at both the extensiveness of the concept, reviewing the range of complementary concepts that have been engaged by the authors, and how it can be delimited to maintain conceptual distinctiveness and explanatory value. What is more, we provide some recommendations on how scholars working across disciplinary boundaries may go about unpacking resilience in and for organizations and societies.

AbstractThis chapter makes a brief approach to the origins and evolution of both wind bands and the Moors and Christians festivals, especially in the Valencian Region, tracing the lines that connected both phenomena at a specific moment in history. The indissoluble relationship that has united them since then has created a musical genre that has not only become one of the most recognisable signs of Valencian society’s identity, but also a treasure of its intangible cultural heritage, and a fundamental part of the economic activity of musical societies in the context of what certain authors call “the ecosystem of the Moors and Christians cluster”. Moors and Christians festivals are linked to the hiring of bands for musical accompaniment in parades and for the celebration of other activities, such as concerts, recreational performances and recordings which make up an essential part of many musical societies’ funding sources.

AbstractFacing global challenges and managing technological and scientific development require to imply critical reflection at all levels of transformation to create more thriving societies. This paper addresses the issues behind designing in complex societies. It introduces a novel approach to generate scenarios, envision, and contextualise the not-yet-existing technological artefacts through storytelling and prototyping, to anticipate the possible ethical and societal implications of technological development and mediations in social-human-environment-technology assemblages and interactions. The authors describe the critical approach with the Protocol for designing consciously and an Envisioning tool exploiting the Science Fiction (Sci-Fi) films as a trigger for critical discussion among the design researchers and practitioners. The Protocol and Envisioning tool aim at supporting the design researchers and practitioners adopt pluriversal perspectives and deal with the complexity, to deliver consciously designed artefacts. In this paper, authors show how the critical approach can be implemented in design and research projects and discuss the benefits and purposes of introducing such an approach in the current design research and practice.

How do right wing populist parties politicize migration in different political, economic and social contexts? The chapter aims to provide an answer to this question by analyzing four parties: the Italian (Northern) League, the Spanish VOX, the German Alternative for Germany and the Austrian Freedom Party. Opposition to migration and negative reactions towards multicultural societies are recurrent arguments in the rhetoric of right-wing populist parties. The authors offer a multidimensional description of converging and diverging patterns of representation of migration in the four countries

The internet has developed into a giant digital network, which has caused comprehensive transformations in the work environment, the created products, the interpersonal contacts, and the competitive relations of the organizations. Their double being and positioning - in the realities of the internet and physical reality brought out an abundance of critical scientific topics - the consequences of mixing realities and spaces, the trust in digital information, the directions of digital and analog developments, the educational effects. Some of the defended ideas are based on a sociological survey conducted by the authors, and others on the analytical rethinking of the prevailing theoretical achievements. The thesis is launched that analog and digital developments should be interconnected.

Résumé :
Increasing mechanization since the Industrial Revolution has affected many societies of the world, especially Western societies. Increasing mechanization with the revolution has brought with it migration movements due to economic origin. Increasing migration from rural areas to cities with the dream of a better life has resulted in worse socio-economic results rather than individuals leading a better life. The surplus of workers resulting from the ever-increasing population in the cities has provided the capital owners with the opportunity to employ workers at a lower cost. As a result, working hours increased and wages decreased. Workers are compelled to lead an inhuman life in the cities. Increasing mechanization has begun to show its effect in rural areas as well, with the mechanization in agriculture, the workforce of the villagers has decreased, and their lands have been taken away from them by means of banks and they have been forced to migrate. Some artists could not remain indifferent to these difficult life conditions experienced by the workers, and they dealt with this subject in their works. This situation brought with it a new understanding of literature. This understanding is the "Socialist Realist" understanding of art, the foundation of which was laid in Soviet Russia in 1934. With this understanding, a number of duties and ideologies have been imposed on the artist and the artist. In this study, in addition to the universality and literary similarity of the subjects of John Steinbeck and Orhan Kemal, two writers from different geographies in the context of SocialistRealistic Literature understanding, the social and political reasons why Orhan Kemal could not achieve such a great reputation as Steinbeck despite this literary success are both sociological and sociological. and will be examined from the perspective of comparative literature. Key words: Socialist Literature, Orhan Kemal, John Steinbeck.

Résumé :
The article is devoted to the analysis of the problems of inequality in modern education from the point of view of the world-system approach. The authors establish links between educational inequality and in- 153 equality of societies in the «core – semiperiphery – periphery» structure. The authors attempt to consider the mechanism of the formation of educational inequality in peripheral societies in which social contradictions are most clearly observed from the perspective of the world-system approach. The authors use the theoretical constructions of the world-system approach of I. Wallerstein, S. Amin, F. Cardozo, the ideas of the representatives of the world-system paradigm in comparative education of R.F. Arnove, T. Griffiths, and the concept of a closed circle of inequality in education by R. Flecha. The authors believe that changes in the education system of a society that is integrated into the world-system through the specialization of its economy correspond to those specific transformations that are caused in this society by the innovation spread by the global hegemon. The authors of the article show that the reform of the education system proceeds in the general direction of integrating society into the world system of the division of labor, when the elite forms priority consumption patterns in a peripheralized society (including patterns of knowledge and education), borrowing they from the countries of the core and the hegemon of the world system. The formation of priority patterns leads to the displacement of their own educational culture, the imitation of the masses of the elite and the uneven spread of the patterns. Since full compliance with the priority patterns is unattainable for the majority of the population, its imitations are spreading.

Résumé :
Learning is the core competency required by the human beings, all living things, and even half-organisms like viruses, to survive in this world. Learning continues throughout one's life. When learning stops, it is almost the end of life. This fact remains explicit for anyone who observes life closely. Review of literature on progresses, innovations and overall successes of individuals, societies and organizations reveals that such achievements are greatly facilitated by the effective and efficient management of the lifelong learning process. Management of lifelong learning involves facilitation of all the life-cycle events of learning specific to various contexts in life like childcare, formal education and preparation for employment, employment, entrepreneurship, and active aging. That is why almost all international organizations, like UN, WHO, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Commonwealth of Learning (COL), universities across the world, organizations that promote entrepreneurship, government establishments, industries, skill development programmes etc promote strategies, initiatives, and platforms to nurture lifelong learning. // Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 of UN sets the goal ‘Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’. Moto of WHO Academy is ‘Transforming lifelong learning for health impact’. World Bank has a lot of reports published on the importance of lifelong learning. // In the above context, further research was conducted into the management systems and processes that facilitate efficient lifelong learning experience to help the world to develop models that can be easily adopted. It will equip the mankind with capabilities for tackling the present and future challenges of life; especially as the world anticipates tremendous escalation of foreseen and unforeseen challenges due to the cumulative effect of climate change and socio-economic factors. The graduation of learning from the individual level to organization level and broader societal level also studied. The study has been conducted based on the literature available on the internet and the learning from hundreds of capacity building sessions facilitated by the authors over a long period of time. // The study identified learning management strategies that facilitate identification of the right learning path by individuals and preparedness of individuals, organizations and societies to remain proactive and agile are vital factors in promoting lifelong learning for sustainable development.

Résumé :
The article analyzes students’ narratives by the method of focus groups on the problem of attitudes towards young women who left for Syria. The authors attempted to reconstruct the girls’ everyday discourse of “talking to a stranger on the Internet and going to Syria through interviews and focus-group communication”. In the context of narrative analysis, the authors see two levels of the problem: the micro-level – the ability to identify the degree of sensitivity to the ideology of Islamic fundamentalism through attitudes to the practical actions of specific girls who have already gone to Syria. Macro-level – “intergenerational conflict” or “intergenerational rift”. The result of intergenerational conflict in North Caucasus societies is often a religiously-extremist way of behaving to adults who do not share their “excessive immersion in Islam” to the detriment of traditional normative values. The analysis of youth narratives concerning the “departed” can also serve as an explanatory model for the response to a broader problem, namely the development of intergenerational dynamics in the context of a clash of values between the traditional culture of local societies and Islamic fundamentalism. In this two-level perspective, we see the prospect of further research into the problem of extremism in North Caucasian societies. In this article, we have designated the macro level as the “background site”. In our reconstruction of the everyday discourse of university students on the problem of “girls leaving for Syria”, we came to the following conclusions. The evaluations revealed the admissibility of sharing the spouse’s fate as an attributive understanding of marital duty within the framework of Islamic ideology. In the opinion of female students, the loneliness of girls, domestic violence, and the search for a “real man” can also serve as a possible decision for young women to communicate online with a stranger. The relevance of the problem of analyzing narratives is the need to comprehend the palette of opinions of a part of the youth audience, which is not considered to be young people in the “risk zone”.

Résumé :
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, societies have recently become aware that all decision-making processes are made under huge uncertainty. Since the worldwide situation cannot be compared to any other in the past, it is hard to apply any of the typical descriptions of uncertainty based on historical data. In this paper, the authors try to show how to use expert knowledge of the unknown values of systems parameters to optimise their operation through appropriate allocation of resources and also consider the systems that may be modelled by using the utility theory. Production plants and computer networks are examples of such systems. The authors have modelled the uncertainty with the formalism of uncertain variables and proposed a new approach to the problem of optimising resources with uncertain parameters. A method to solve such a defined problem is also discussed.

This paper critically reviewed commercially available hull stress monitoring systems (HSM) and summarized notations for vessels with hull stress monitoring systems from major classification societies. The authors recommended that, for every FPSO vessel, at least one HSM should be equipped in compliance with regulation from the International Maritime Organization. Additionally, sixteen types of sensing technologies were identified for monitoring of FPSO Vessel. Depending on the technology matureness and readiness for application in marine structures, they were categorized into three groups: Proven, Un-Proven and State-of-the-art technology. Furthermore, challenges associated with FPSO hull monitoring including Sensor Systems, Communication and Data Analysis techniques were examined. It is concluded that multiple sensing technologies should be systematically combined to provide more accurate information. Based on these discussions, a feasible solution that integrates proper wireless sensor network technology and Bayesian Network modeling was proposed as the future direction of FPSO hull monitoring system.

Résumé :
Focusing on the dynamics between governments and big tech, on cybercrime, and on disinformation and fake news, this paper examines some of the risks that have been highlighted and aggravated as societies have transitioned at speed to a more virtual way of living. The COVID-19 pandemic has been called the ‘great accelerator’ of digital transformation, with technology at the forefront of countries’ response to the crisis. The experience of the past year has underscored that tech governance must be based on human-centric values that protect the rights of individuals but also work towards a public good. In the case of the development of track-and-trace apps, for instance, a successful solution should simultaneously be both respectful of individual privacy and robust from a cybersecurity perspective, while also effectively serving essential epidemiological goals. Ensuring a sound approach to tech policy has been made all the more complex by the context of the pandemic, as decision-makers have found themselves having to respond swiftly and decisively in a public health emergency. While there is considerable uncertainty as to the long-term consequences of their responses, the paper’s authors emphasize that a whole-of-society approach is needed that will restore and build greater public trust in the ability of governments and public-serving bodies to protect them, respect their rights and ensure the information they receive is solid and reliable.

This chapter explores the role of trauma in violent extremism research, offering insights on its effects on the research process, providing insights on the radicalization process of individual cases, and informing reintegration prospects of returning foreign fighters and their family members. The chapter focuses on war-related trauma as a widespread experience in post-conflict societies, which may persist years after the war ends, scarring societies in numerous ways for generations and potentially creating an ongoing cycle of violence. The chapter begins with a brief overview of the available literature on the link between trauma and radicalization while bringing attention to existing gaps within this field. It then continues with insights from field research in Kosovo on how trauma was expressed among the family members of foreign fighters, including women returnees from the conflict zones in Syria and Iraq, and provides insight into how the author approached the subject in her own research.

The regime consolidates its discriminatory, oppressive, autocratic politics by gaining the support of non-AKP constituents through the discourse of “native and national.” Thus, the situation in Turkey is not a simple deviation from the norm; it is a more complex socio-political conundrum. In other words, the regime represented by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is not the reason for but the result of society’s mindset which is a reasonable part of the “Turkish malaise.”

Résumé :
The survival of Pacific societies is partly attributed to the ability of Pacific ancestors to transmit stories from generation to generation through myths and legends, stories of creation, songs, oratory, art and natural environments. This paper explores the importance of the practice of Talanoa as a concept and a research tool in promoting Pacific knowledge systems and practices in tertiary education in Aotearoa New Zealand. Talanoa was utilised as the primary research method to gather narratives about how Talanoa is incorporated, from Pacific staff in various roles in tertiary education in a culturally safe and relevant way, both face to face and online. The author also conducted an online survey to gather information about how or whether Talanoa is used widely by Pacific staff in an Aotearoa New Zealand tertiary institution, Unitec New Zealand Limited, before it transitioned fully into the national institute, Te Pūkenga. The research analysed existing literature to ensure that it adds value to this repertoire of knowledge and research. The significance of recognising and acknowledging Pacific oral traditions will add value to and enhance Pacific ways of knowing and engagement in any context. The outcome of this study supports the inclusion of Talanoa as a tool that can be used successfully in tertiary education.
