Distance Service Program (DSP) is a community based rehabilitation program for persons with intellectual disabilities. This program has been running 11 years and is considered able to improve the wellbeing of persons with intellectual disabilityies and their families. In 2017, DSP implemented in West Bandung regency by rehabilitating 30 persons with intellectual disability. At the end of the program, beneficiaries receive cash aid to be managed as productive economic business capital. This article discusses the process by which the beneficiary families together with community cadres in managing the social assistance. The research method used is qualitative with descriptive research type. 13 selected informants represent program managers, program implementers, and program beneficiaries. The results of the field findings indicate that the beneficiary families of DSP 2017 have used the cash aid in accordance with the plan. Most of them are able to manage productive economic business and supplement family income by involving beneficiaries. The findings also reveal participatory economic empowerment by maximizing the potential of intellectual disabilities. However, there are also some types of endangered businesses consumed, dead fowls exposed to the virus, and businesses that take a long time to earn income for the family.

Abstract Purpose of the study. Investigate the current legal mechanisms for organizing and providing rehabilitation assistance to participants and victims of the armed conflict in the eastern regions of Ukraine. Materials and methods. To achieve these goals, a standard methodological apparatus for scientific research was used: bibliosemantic, for the analysis of periodical literature, and content analysis, for the analysis of legal documents. Results. As stated in the regulations, one of the main responsibilities of the state is to ensure the social protection of participants in the armed conflict in the east of the country. To fulfill this function, a number of laws and regulations have been enacted at the legislative levels, which are constantly being revised to improve social, medical and psychological care for participants in the joint force operation (anti-terrorist operation) and its victims. Comprehensive assistance to disabled military personnel and combatants includes statutory guarantees and procedures for their rehabilitation and adaptation. This list includes medical rehabilitation (provision of medical care, including prosthetics and orthoses, provision of technical means of rehabilitation); psychological rehabilitation; social rehabilitation; vocational rehabilitation. Conclusions. In Ukraine, there is a welldeveloped legal regulation of the process of providing rehabilitation assistance to participants in the armed conflict in the eastern regions of Ukraine. Organizational mechanisms for rehabilitation are constantly being improved: the International Classification of Functioning, Restriction of Life has been introduced; qualification characteristics of rehabilitologists and rehabilitation specialists, occupational therapists, physical therapy assistants and occupational therapists have been developed. It has been established that there are no unified protocols for medical rehabilitation in Ukraine: only a protocol of measures for post-traumatic stress disorder has been developed. A «road map» for medical care, reparative treatment and rehabilitation measures in health care facilities is available and applicable. There were determined special legislative, methodological and technical problems lying in the imperfection of the model of medical-social and rehabilitation services. Organizational problems of interagency cooperation authorities and institutions in the implementation of rehabilitation and social services to disabled elderly persons were revealed. Main directions of the improvement of the system of medical-social assistance and rehabilitation are proposed.

Background: Medical, social, and professional assessment of patients and the development of a rehabilitation program based on that assessment are important issue in mental and behavioral disorders. However, insufficient consideration of the basic principles of medical and social expertise leads to the inadequate according to patient’s planning and implementation into rehabilitation interventions.
Aim: to study the essence and understanding of the concept of "limitation of life" and "social isolation" in the practice of mental health care and rehabilitation.
Materials and methods: theoretical analysis and synthesis of scientific sources regarding medical and social rehabilitation of the mentally ill, with disabilities and social isolation.
Results: The author expounds his view on development of vital activity limitations and social isolation in psychiatric patients; and on different aspects of using this categories in the medical and social assistance and rehabilitation practice.
Conclusion: general trend inherent in both foreign and Ukrainian scientific publications was identified, it highlights the need to build medical and social assistance in accordance with definition of disability and social isolation.

The article highlights the persistent problems of rehabilitation of children with health disorders and the necessity of improving assistance to the disabled children. The improvement of the efficiency of rehabilitation measures is possible by means of the optimization of both the inner and interagency integration in the organization of assistance to children with disabilities, a clear algorithm of collaboration and document circulation between specialists of the departments of children’s polyclinic and the Bureau of Medical Social Expertise, creation of individual integrated programs and raising the awareness of patients with the quality of assistance.

Процесс лечения и социально-психологической реабилитации лиц с наркологическими заболеваниями протекает под влиянием целого комплекса объективных и субъективных факторов. Целенаправленное воздействие на субъективные факторы позволяет улучшить качество организации лечебно-реабилитационного процесса с активным привлечением социально-психологических ресурсов. Цель работы – систематизация роли социально-психологических ресурсов на микро-, мезо- и макросоциальном уровнях оказания лечебно-реабилитационной помощи наркологическим пациентам. Показано, что направленность системы здравоохранения и иных общественно значимых социальных институтов на интенсивное привлечение и активизацию ресурсов для психологического сопровождения пациента вызвана острой необходимостью повышения эффективности наркологической помощи при одновременной оптимизации затрат, что особенно актуально в условиях сложной эпидемиологической ситуации в стране по социально значимым заболеваниям и соответствует современной социально-экономической реальности. Для каждой референтной группы различного социального уровня обобщены актуальные направления психологического сопровождения наркологического пациента. Обоснована значимость привлечения к лечебно-реабилитационному процессу членов семьи и представителей различных социальных институтов, способных оказать наиболее эффективную социально-психологическую и психотерапевтическую поддержку реабилитанту и осуществлять профилактику зависимого и созависимого поведения микросоциального окружения. The process of treatment and socio-psychological rehabilitation of people with drug- related diseases is influenced by a whole complex of both objective and subjective factors. Targeted impact on subjective factors can improve the quality of the organization of the treatment and rehabilitation process with the active involvement of social and psychological resources. The aim of the work is to systematize the role of social and psychological resources at the micro-, meso- and macro-social levels of treatment and rehabilitation assistance to drug-addicted patients. It is shown that the focus of the health care system and other socially significant public institutions on intensive attraction and activation of resources for patient psychological assistance is caused by the urgent need to increase the effectiveness of narcological treatment while optimizing costs, which is especially relevant in the context of a complex epidemiological situation in the country in terms of socially significant diseases, and corresponds to the modern social and economic reality. For each reference group of different social levels, the current directions of assistance to narcological patient are summarized. The article substantiates the importance of involving family members and representatives of various social institutions in treatment and rehabilitation process who are able to provide the most effective social, psychological and psychotherapeutic assistance to the rehabilitator and prevent dependent and codependent behavior in the microsocial environment.

The aim of our study was to investigate the mechanisms of rehabilitation, primarily medical, of participants in the armed conflict in the eastern regions of Ukraine (anti-terrorist operation/Joint Forces operation). Materials and methods: Standard statistical methods were used to accomplish these tasks – bibliosemantic and content analysis methods. So, as can be seen from the conducted research, in Ukraine there is a legal regulation of the process of providing rehabilitation assistance (social, psychological, medical) for the participants of armed conflict in the eastern regions of Ukraine (ATO / JFO). Review: It should be noted separately that the organizational mechanisms for the provision of rehabilitation are constantly improving: introduction of the International Classification of Functioning, Restrictions of Life and Health and the International Classification of Functioning, Restrictions of Life and Health of Children and Adolescents in Ukraine introduced the qualification characteristics of rehabilitation specialists and rehabilitation specialists , physical therapist, ergotherapist, physical therapist assistant, ergotherapist assistant. Conclusions: It was also determined that despite the constant improvement of the organizational and regulatory frameworks for the provision of rehabilitation, there is a problem of the lack of unified protocols for the provision of medical rehabilitation – there is only a protocol of measures for post-traumatic stress disorder. Available and applicable the “road map” of providing of medical assistance, reparative treatment and rehabilitation measures in health care facilities for ATO participants.

This commentary aims to address the field of social robots both in terms of the global situation and research perspectives. It has four polarities. First, it revisits the evolutions in robotics, which, starting from collaborative robotics, has led to the diffusion of social robots. Second, it illustrates the main fields in the employment of social robots in rehabilitation and assistance in the elderly and handicapped and in further emerging sectors. Third, it takes a look at the future directions of the research development both in terms of clinical and technological aspects. Fourth, it discusses the opportunities and limits, starting from the development and clinical use of social robots during the COVID-19 pandemic to the increase of ethical discussion on their use.

The article offers for discussion a possible conceptual approach and practice-grounded changes of pedagogical provisions to improve teenagers’ physical, psycho-emotional balance and social rehabilitation culminating in overall well-being.</p><p> </p>

A assistência ao doente mental deve ser fundamentalmente humanista e o profissional de saúde deve deixar de considerar apenas a doença, passando a cuidar do doente, da pessoa que está sofrendo. Além da dimensão física, a pessoa deve ser atendida também em seu componente social, psíquico e emocional. O deslocamento do doente mental do lugar onde ele é visto como incapaz, desacreditado e excluído para o lugar de inclusão social não ocorre pela simples mudança de espaço físico. É na articulação dos detalhes do cotidiano, na maneira de agir e lidar com os objetos, espaço e tempo que se imprime a particularidade no mundo compartilhado. É esta apropriação que irá ordenar para o sujeito a realidade compartilhada, possibilitando a inclusão na sociedade. Os objetivos deste estudo foram: conhecer como tem sido realizado o preparo dos pacientes institucionalizados para saírem do hospital para morarem nas residências terapêuticas; e também, conhecer como o paciente institucionalizado percebe o seu preparo para sair do hospital a fim de viver nas residências terapêuticas. Tratou-se de um estudo descritivo-exploratório, com uma proposta de trabalho teórico-metodológica para abordagem qualitativa. A obtenção dos dados foi centralizada em um setor denominado Vila Terapêutica do Hospital Santa Tereza de Ribeirão Preto. Participaram da pesquisa todos os profissionais da equipe multidisciplinar, que prestavam cuidados aos pacientes institucionalizados, no setor Vila Terapêutica, e que quiseram participar da pesquisa, sendo eles onze que aceitaram; e também, todos os moradores que estavam sob os cuidados da equipe multidisciplinar da equipe descrita, e que moravam na Vila Terapêutica e que aceitaram participar da pesquisa, sendo um total de seis. De acordo com a apresentação e discussão dos dados coletados, percebemos que embora o hospital tenha projetos e propostas de mudanças, ainda possui muitas características manicomiais. A estrutura não favorece a reinserção social. Não aparece a proposta de reinserção na fala dos profissionais, e sim, a noção de \"convencer\" através de visitas, os moradores a morarem em residências terapêuticas. Nota-se que quando abordado os profissionais sobre a questão de como tem sido realizado o preparo dos moradores da Vila Terapêutica para saírem do hospital para morarem nas residências, ficou muito ressaltado que realizavam visitas às moradias na cidade, porém, não deram ênfase a outros espaços sociais. É importante oportunizar mais espaços de socialização, de recuperação de potencialidades, de inclusão, (muitas vezes desprezadas), reabrindo a comunicação do morador na família e no seu ambiente social, trazendo a ele possivelmente um sentido mais significativo de existência.Assistance to the mentally ill should be fundamentally humanist and the health professional must cease to consider only the disease but take care of the sick, of the person who is suffering. Besides the physical dimension, the person must be addressed also in its social component, psychological and emotional. The transfer of the mentally ill where he is seen as incapable, discredited and excluded, to the place of social inclusion does not occur by mere change of physical space. It is the articulation of the details of daily life in the way of acting and dealing with objects, space and time that stamps the particularity in the shared world. It is this ownership that will sort to the subject the shared reality, enabling the inclusion in society. The objectives of this study were: to understand how the preparation of the institution\'s inpatients has been made to leave the hospital and go live in therapeutic homes; and also understand how the institution\'s inpatient perceives his preparation to leave the hospital and go live in therapeutic homes. This was a descriptive-exploratory study with a theoretical-methodological work for qualitative approach. The data obtained was centralized in a sector known as \"Santa Tereza Hospital\'s Therapeutic Village\" of Ribeirão Preto. Participated in the research all professionals of the multidisciplinary team that provided care for the hospital\'s inpatients at the Therapeutic Village, and who also wanted to participate, of which eleven agreed; also, all residents who were under the care of the described multidisciplinary team, and who lived in the Therapeutic Village that agreed to participate in the research, being a total of six. According to the presentation and discussion of the data collected, it was realized that although the hospital has projects and proposals for changes, it still has many characteristics of a mental institution. The structure doesn\'t favor social reintegration. On the professionals\' dialogue the proposal for reintegration doesn\'t appear, but the notion of \"convincing\" through visits, the villagers to go live in therapeutic homes. It is noticed that, when the professionals are approached on the question of how the preparation of the residents of the Therapeutic Village is performed to leave the hospital and go to live in the homes, it stood out that the visits were carried out at homes in the city, but no emphasis was given on other social locations. It is important to give the opportunity to expand socialization locations, recovery potentialities, inclusion, (often neglected), reopening the communication of the resident in the family and in his social environment, possibly bringing to him a more meaningful sense of living.

Os Centros de Atenção Psicossocial (CAPS) são considerados dispositivos estratégicos para a mudança de modelo assistencial em saúde mental e apresentam proposições que vão ao encontro dos conceitos da Reabilitação Psicossocial, na perspectiva de promover a inclusão social das pessoas com a experiência do sofrimento psíquico. Neste contexto insere-se a temática desta pesquisa: as ações de inclusão social. Busca-se compreender como ocorrem as práticas de inclusão social voltadas para essa população, no intuito de contribuir para a avaliação deste serviço, considerado um importante avanço no processo da Reforma Psiquiátrica Brasileira. O objeto de estudo são as representações sociais dos sujeitos sobre práticas de inclusão social realizadas pelos serviços substitutivos em saúde mental, no âmbito do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Para apreender esta realidade, os objetivos delineados foram: identificar as ações desenvolvidas no CAPS que, de acordo com a equipe de saúde mental, tenham por finalidade a inclusão social das pessoas portadoras de transtornos mentais severos e persistentes; analisar a concepção de inclusão social expressa na representação social dos trabalhadores; compreender as dificuldades e as possibilidades, a fim de fomentar a inclusão social de usuários em serviços de saúde mental; e compreender a fundamentação teórico-prática que sustenta as ações de inclusão. Os conceitos norteadores deste estudo são a Reabilitação Psicossocial e a Desinstitucionalização, segundo a perspectiva da Psiquiatria Democrática Italiana, por apresentarem proposições que fundamentam as práticas de inclusão social. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de entrevista semi-estruturada com os funcionários que compõem a equipe do CAPS da cidade de São Carlos. Os dados foram submetidos à análise do discurso, a partir da qual foi possível reconhecer as seguintes categorias empíricas: representações dos processos de inclusão e exclusão social, práticas de inclusão social e modelo assistencial. A análise dessas categorias foi realizada sob a ótica da Representação Social que, apoiada na valorização do senso comum, favorece a análise de alguns limites e potencialidades das ações de inclusão social, a partir da percepção dos profissionais. Dessa forma, foi possível compreender as concepções de inclusão social atreladas à ideologia da normalidade social; as famílias dos usuários são consideradas atores importantes no processo de inclusão, mas também são culpabilizadas pela falta de adesão ao tratamento oferecido no serviço; o trabalho é contemplado como uma dimensão importante para a inclusão, contudo, os profissionais não se consideram agentes desse processo; e algumas práticas refletem as concepções presentes no conceito de Reabilitação Psicossocial. Nesse sentido, as concepções acerca das práticas de inclusão social apresentam-se pouco claras e muitas vezes contraditórias. Apontamos para a necessidade de maior clareza do projeto institucional do CAPS.Psychosocial Attention Centers (CAPS) are considered strategic devices for the change of assistance model concerning mental health. They present proposals that involve concepts of Psychosocial Rehabilitation, aiming to promote social inclusion for people who have experienced psychological suffering. In this context, the research theme involves social inclusion actions that aim to understand how social inclusion practices for this population occur, and also to contribute to the evaluation of this service, as it is considered an important advance in the process of Brazilian Psychiatric Reform. The object of the study is social representations of the citizens on social inclusion practices performed by the substitutive services concerning mental health, in the scope of Brazilian Public Health System (SUS). Based on this situation, the study aims to: 1) identify actions developed at CAPS which, according to the team of mental health workers, may aim for the social inclusion of people with severe and persistent mental disturbances; 2) analyze the conception of social inclusion expressed through workers social representation; 3) understand the difficulties and possibilities in order to promote social inclusion for the users of mental health services;4) understand the theoretical-practical basis that supports inclusion actions. The guiding concepts of this study are Psychosocial Rehabilitation and De-institutionalization, according to the perspective of Italian Democratic Psychiatry, since these concepts present proposals that support social inclusion practices. The data was collected from semi-structured interviews with the employees who compose the work team at CAPS in the city of Sao Carlos. The data have been submitted to discourse analysis in order to make it possible to recognize the following empirical categories: representations of inclusion and social exclusion processes, social inclusion practice, and the assistance model. The analysis of these categories was done by the Social Representation optics, a method that, supported by common sense, favors the analysis of some limits and potentialities of social inclusion actions, beginning from the professionals perception. In this way, it was possible to understand the conceptions of social inclusion related to the ideology of social normality. The families of the users are considered important characters in the inclusion process, but they are also responsible for the lack of adhesion to the treatment offered by the service. Work is considered an important dimension for the inclusion; however, professionals do not consider themselves as agents of this process. Some practices reflect the ideas present in the concept of Psychosocial Rehabilitation. In this sense, the concepts concerning social inclusion practices are not very clear and are often contradictory. Based on these results, this study suggests the necessity of more clarity concerning the institutional project of CAPS.

Previous issue date: 2012-11-28This paper aims at tracing the connection between sickness-assistance and disability retirement with the provision pension and rehabilitation and the professional qualification. The goal is to show that if there was a program of rehabilitation and professional habilitation and if it were applied to the policyholders apart for disability, besides these ones have a chance of qualifying to another profession, the INSS would no longer afford the benefits and raise again with social contributions by the policyholders return to work, as well as rescuing the principle of human dignity for the worker being rehabilitated and professionally qualified. Therefore, the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs and professional qualification would make INSS to have great savings for failing to pay benefits, and also to start receiving social security contributions, and mainly, would guarantee the policyholders the right to return to working life, preserving, as a consequence, their human dignity
O presente trabalho tem como objetivo traçar a ligação entre o auxílio-doença e a aposentadoria por invalidez com a prestação previdenciária reabilitação e a habilitação profissional. Tem-se como meta demonstrar que se existisse o programa de reabilitação e habilitação profissional e se o mesmo fosse aplicado aos segurados afastados por incapacidade, além destes terem a chance da qualificação para outra profissão, o INSS deixaria de bancar os benefícios e voltaria a arrecadar com as contribuições sociais pelo retorno do segurado ao trabalho, bem como, resgataria o princípio da dignidade da pessoa humana por ter sido o trabalhador reabilitado e habilitado profissionalmente. Portando, a eficácia do programa de reabilitação e habilitação profissional faria com que o INSS tivesse uma grande economia por deixar de pagar os benefícios e, ainda, por passar a receber as contribuições sociais e, principalmente, se garantiria ao segurado o direito de volta à vida laboral, preservando-se, como consequência, sua dignidade humana

La tesi di dottorato è dedicata alla figura di Adele Bonolis (Milano 14 agosto 1909 – 11 agosto 1980), della quale ricostruisce criticamente la formazione, la spiritualità e le opere sociali a cui diede vita nella seconda metà del Novecento. Nel quadro delle vicende del cattolicesimo ambrosiano e delle molteplici realtà assistenziali che hanno caratterizzato Milano nel secolo scorso, il lavoro analizza la formazione religiosa e culturale di Adele Bonolis, maturata nell’esperienza dell’Azione cattolica e presso l’Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Si considerano quindi il progetto di fondazione delle Aralde dell’Amore, una comunità di donne consacrate nel mondo, e l’attività di insegnamento condotta a partire dagli anni universitari. La ricerca prende poi in esame le opere avviate dalla Bonolis rivolte a situazioni di particolare fragilità soprattutto femminile, nel campo della prostituzione, del carcere e del disagio psichico, considerando il dibattito politico e culturale dell’epoca e mettendo in luce l’originale metodo rieducativo adottato. Viene infine studiata l’Associazione Amicizia, fondata dalla Bonolis negli anni Sessanta e dedita al sostegno delle sue iniziative. È stato così possibile evidenziare l’originalità delle risposte di Adele Bonolis a importanti problemi del suo tempo, in rapporto al percorso spirituale e culturale che ne aveva segnato l’esistenza.This dissertation focuses on Adele Bonolis (Milan, August 14th, 1909 – August 11th, 1980). It critically reconstructs her formation and spirituality, and the social welfare work that she initiated in the second half of the twentieth century. In the context of Milanese Catholicism’s events and Milan’s welfare system in the last century, the dissertation analyzes the religious and cultural formation that Adele Bonolis gained through her experience within the Catholic Action and at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. The dissertation considers the foundation project of the Aralde dell’Amore – a consecrated community of women in the world – and the teaching activity that she conducted starting from her university years. Subsequently, the dissertation examines her social welfare work aimed at particularly fragile situations, especially for women, in the fields of prostitution, prison, and mental illness. Thus, the work takes into account the political and cultural debate of the time and highlights the rehabilitation method she adopted. Lastly, the dissertation studies the Associazione Amicizia that Bonolis founded in the Sixties and dedicated to support her initiatives. The outcome highlights the originality of Adele Bonolis’ answers to outstanding problems of her time in relation to the spiritual and cultural path that marked her existence.

Advanced devices that can assist the therapists to offer rehabilitation are in high demand with the growing rehabilitation needs. The primary requirement from such rehabilitative devices is to reduce the therapist monitoring time. If the training device can autonomously adapt to the performance of the user, it can make the rehabilitation partly self-manageable. Therefore the main goal of our research is to investigate how to make a rehabilitation system more adaptable. The strategy we followed to augment the adaptability of the GENTLE/A robotic system was to (i) identify the parameters that inform about the contribution of the user/robot during a human-robot interaction session and (ii) use these parameters as performance indicators to adapt the system. Three main studies were conducted with healthy participants during the course of this PhD. The first study identified that the difference between the position coordinates recorded by the robot and the reference trajectory position coordinates indicated the leading/lagging status of the user with respect to the robot. Using the leadlag model we proposed two strategies to enhance the adaptability of the system. The first adaptability strategy tuned the performance time to suit the user’s requirements (second study). The second adaptability strategy tuned the task difficulty level based on the user’s leading or lagging status (third study). In summary the research undertaken during this PhD successfully enhanced the adaptability of the GENTLE/A system. The adaptability strategies evaluated were designed to suit various stages of recovery. Apart from potential use for remote assessment of patients, the work presented in this thesis is applicable in many areas of human-robot interaction research where a robot and human are involved in physical interaction.

This thesis presents both a control scheme for naturalistic control of an exoskeleton glove and a glove design. Exoskeleton development has been focused primarily on design, improving soft actuator and cable-driven systems, with only limited focus on intelligent control. There is a need for control that is not limited to position or force reference signals and is user-driven. By implementing a motion amplification controller to increase weak movements of an impaired individual, a finger joint trajectory can be observed and used to predict their grasping intention. The motion amplification functions off of a virtual dynamical system that safely enforces the range of motion of the finger joints and ensures stability. Three grasp prediction algorithms are developed with improved levels of accuracy: regression, trajectory, and deep learning based. These algorithms were tested on published finger joint trajectories. The fusion of the amplification and prediction could be used to achieve naturalistic, user-guided control of an exoskeleton glove. The key to accomplishing this is series elastic actuators to move the finger joints, thereby allowing the wearer to deflect against the glove and inform the controller of their intention. These actuators are used to move the fingers in a nine degree of freedom exoskeleton that is capable of achieving all the grasps used most frequently in daily life. The controllers and exoskeleton presented here are the basis for improved exoskeleton glove control that can be used to assist or rehabilitate impaired individuals.Master of Science
Millions of Americans report difficulty holding small or even lightweight objects. In many of these cases, their difficulty stems from a condition such as a stroke or arthritis, requiring either rehabilitation or assistance. For both treatments, exoskeleton gloves are a potential solution; however, widespread deployment of exoskeletons in the treatment of hand conditions requires significant advancement. Towards that end, the research community has devoted itself to improving the design of exoskeletons. Systems that use soft actuation or are driven by artificial tendons have merit in that they are comfortable to the wearer, but lack the rigidity required for monitoring the state of the hand and controlling it. Electromyography sensors are also a commonly explored technology for determining motion intention; however, only primitive conclusions can be drawn when using these sensors on the muscles that control the human hand. This thesis proposes a system that does not rely on soft actuation but rather a deflectable exoskeleton that can be used in rehabilitation or assistance. By using series elastic actuators to move the exoskeleton, the wearer of the glove can exert their influence over the machine. Additionally, more intelligent control is needed in the exoskeleton. The approach taken here is twofold. First, a motion amplification controller increases the finger movements of the wearer. Second, the amplified motion is processed using machine learning algorithms to predict what type of grasp the user is attempting. The controller would then be able to fuse the two, the amplification and prediction, to control the glove naturalistically.

The first anthropomorphic robots and exoskeletons were developed with the idea of combining man and machine into an intimate symbiotic unit that can perform as one joint system. A human-robot interface consists of processes of two different nature: (1) the physical interaction (pHRI) between the device and its user and (2) the exchange of cognitive information (cHRI) between the human and the robot. To achieve the symbiosis between the two actors, both need to be optimized.
The evolution of mechanical design and the introduction of new materials pushed pHRI to new frontiers on ergonomics and assistance performance.
However, cHRI still lacks on this direction because is more complicated: it requires communication from the cognitive processes occuring in the human agent to the robot, e.g. intention detection; but also from the robot to the human agent, e.g. feedback modalities such as haptic cues.
A possible innovation is the inclusion of the electromyographic signal, the command signal from our brain to the musculoskeletal system for the movement, in the robot control loop.
The aim of this thesis was to develop a real-time control framework for an assistive device that can generate the same force produced by the muscles. To do this, I incorporated in the robot control loop a detailed musculoskeletal model that estimates the net torque at the joint level by taking as inputs the electromyography signals and kinematic data. This module is called myoprocessor.
Here I present two applications of this control approach: the first was implemented on a soft wearable arm exosuit in order to evaluate the adaptation of the controller on different motion and loads. The second one, was a generation of myoprocessor-driven force field on a planar robot manipulandum in order to study the modularity changes of the musculoskeletal system.
Both applications showed that the device controlled by myoprocessor works symbiotically with the user, by reducing the muscular activity and preserving the motor performance.
The ability of seamlessly combining musculoskeletal force estimators with assistive devices opens new avenues for assisting human movement both in healthy and impaired individuals.

They may accentuate procedures and factors that are illuminative, that highlight the points of the programs that are successfully aiding students. The need and interest in continuing educational programs is pointed out. It is pleasing to find the large number of participants desiring continuing education. Notably, as the drug scene is constantly changing, mental health needs detection and help is another point that is continually evolving. This document is to review the Landscape Questionnaire and relate to its validity, and appropriateness; bearing in mind the strong point of strict confidentiality in respect of the students. The need for compensated education of the involved principles would further involvement, with perhaps more guidance counseling principles involved, as a lot of these basics are ingrained. Through the globalization of economy, alleviating poverty has become one of the pivotal issues within social policy arrangement agendas for many countries all over the world. One of the primary and rifest instruments of the alleviation process is social assistance programs. It is an apodictic fact that the proportion of social assistance disbursements within general budgets of the states have been gradually increasing during the recent years. This situation is also true for Turkey. In this context, to what extent citizens steer away from poverty as the result of all these assistances and to what extent social assistance programs are effective on reproduction of poverty becomes a major question. . The basic objective of this study is to search for and understand the impact of social assistances provided by the state in Turkey on behalf of reducing the poverty conditions of the beneficiaries. The study is based upon a qualitative analysis of semi-structured interviews with beneficiaries of Altindag Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation in Ankara, Turkey.
As a result of the study, it is observed that even though distributed assistances are found insufficient by beneficiaries, they have some significant impacts on reduction of poverty. It is understood that the distribution process itself reveals some key problems of the social assistance program of the state such as inefficient defition of poverty and the poor and creating a feeling of dependency for the beneficiaries. The socio-economic factors creating poverty of the beneficiaries are not well defined in Turkey. . In line with this finding one striking inference is that the assistances may
cause a kind of culture of poverty for a group of beneficiaries. Besides, assistance may have more impact on women&rsquos poverty as the women beneficiaries have a higher tendency to identify social assistance as a vital part of their survival while men beneficiaries identify social assistance as support to family. In terms of cash and /or goods transfers the beneficiaries identified transfers of coal, food and cash as very effective and essential for their survival, though the amount especially of cash transfers was less than required. All in all, as a concrete policy suggestion social assistance programs in both cash and in goods are effective for the reduction of poverty of the poor groups however it is not a total solution to create a take-off effect for the beneficiaries out of their poverty condition. The thesis suggests that social assistance programs should be improved in terms of accessibility and defition of poverty and the poor.

The study of the need for people with disabilities due to coronary artery dis-ease in various types of medical and social rehabilitation over a 7-year observation period showed that disabled people needed medical rehabilitation in 100% of cas-es, in professional – in 43.2%, in social – 88.6%, in technical means of rehabilita-tion in 7.6%. In the section of medical rehabilitation, 89.3% of disabled people needed inpatient rehabilitation treatment, 91.1% – outpatient treatment, 46.3% – in sanatorium treatment. Rational employment was needed by 44.8% of disabled persons of group III, 6.1% – disabled persons of group II. 86.4% of disabled peo-ple needed information and consulting services, 77.6% needed legal assistance, 39.8% needed psychological assistance. The proportion of implemented IPRAs was 98.4%, of which in the section of medical rehabilitation – 98.3% of cases, in pro-fessional – 16.6%, in social – 77.7%. The IPRA was fully implemented in 69.6% of cases, partially in 27.3%, and the non-implemented IPRA was 3.1%. As a result of the implementation of these measures, 6.3% of disabled people achieved full com-pensation for impaired functions, 46.8% – partial compensation for impaired func-tions, 8.5% of disabled people achieved full self-service ability, 12.4% – partial, 17, 2% of disabled people are provided with employment. When assessing the need for people with disabilities due to coronary artery disease in various types of reha-bilitation, the leading role of medical rehabilitation with active dynamic control and psychological assistance, the need for motivation for vocational rehabilitation was determined.

As a result of the hostilities that are now taking place in the East Ukraine, the psychological and physical trauma of the combatants is increasingly being seen. Due to the fact that the processes of their adaptation and rehabilitation are delayed in time, we can get stuck with even greater and deeper psychological traumatization of people who have undergone a very high level of stress and returned from the combat zone. In our opinion, the use of both independent types of psychological assistance and their complex combination will contribute to the neutralization of traumatic material, complete processing, further elimination of the long-term consequences of stressful influences in combatants, their adaptation to social life and the restoration of mental health.

Socially assistive robots can provide cognitive assistance with activities of daily living, and promote social interactions to those suffering from cognitive impairments and/or social disorders. They can be used as aids for a number of different populations including those living with dementia or autism spectrum disorder, and for stroke patients during post-stroke rehabilitation [1]. Our research focuses on developing socially assistive intelligent robots capable of partaking in natural human-robot interactions (HRI). In particular, we have been working on the emotional aspects of the interactions to provide engaging settings, which in turn lead to better acceptance by the intended users. Herein, we present a novel multimodal affect recognition system for the robot Luke, Fig. 1(a), to engage in emotional assistive interactions. Current multimodal affect recognition systems mainly focus on inputs from facial expressions and vocal intonation [2], [3]. Body language has also been used to determine human affect during social interactions, but has yet to be explored in the development of multimodal recognition systems. Body language has been strongly correlated to vocal intonation [4]. The combined modalities provide emotional information due to the temporal development underlying the neural interaction in audiovisual perception [5]. In this paper, we present a novel multimodal recognition system that uniquely combines inputs from both body language and vocal intonation in order to autonomously determine user affect during assistive HRI.

Abstract: One of the features of the work of railway transport is the continuity of the labor process and ensuring the safety of this process. Even in modern technological conditions, there are deviations from hygienic standards at workplaces, which can lead to the development of various diseases, including cancer. When a tumor process is detected, issues related to special treatment are initially resolved. The issues of returning to the profession can become when the process is stabilized. A properly conducted rehabilitation process should be continuous and allow the patient to return to work and socially adapt. The incidence of malignant neoplasms on the West Siberian Railway is 1.5-1.9 times lower than the national indicators. At the same time, tumor processes in women are detected already at the age of 20-24 years, and in men 10 years later. When analyzing oncological morbidity, depending on the length of service, 2 peak indicators are observed. These are groups with experience of 11-15 years and 25-30 years. There is a high incidence of malignant neoplasms in train drivers, train drivers' assistants and track fitters. However, the group of social workers also showed high levels that can be associated with the influence of stress and the need to work at night.

The institutionalization of the elderly is very strongly related to the diseases and complications associated with cognitive and functional impairment present in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, other dementias, and stroke sequelae. The institutionalization of elderly people represents an aid to families. On the other hand, it has been a factor related to the worsening in cognition and functionality when compared to those who remain in their social environment and family life. The different modalities of long-term care facilities (LTCFs) for the elderly in Brazil contribute a lot to the split between care and family life. The present work aims to propose a new model of real estate development, linked to the provision of specialized care without the deprivation of family life and relationship and produce greater benefits in terms of maintaining cognition, autonomy, and independence among the elderly. The future developments proposed here will consist of buildings with apartments of varying sizes according to the needs of families, adequate accessibility, differentiated circulation to facilitate access and proximity of caregivers to the elderly and to reduce the physical distance of the elderly to the assistance and coexistence spaces. They will be equipped with assistance rooms for multiprofessional service and rehabilitation, areas for food, leisure and socializing among the elderly. The Startup will bring together real estate and construction companies, developers, investors and elderly care providers, and will be responsible for the projects, their execution and monitoring. The resources for the construction come from investors, the housing will be allocated to families with elderly people and other sources will come from the provision of care and services offered to the elderly by specialized companies. In addition to the benefits for the elderly and their families, the interaction between different economic sectors and dividend production is promoted.

O presente trabalho promove uma intervenção na área central de Teresina, no Quadrante Santa Rosa,
propondo a realização de um Plano de Requalificação viabilizado em iniciativas público-privadas, voltado
para a mobilidade, acessibilidade, uso misto do solo, revitalização da memória edificada da cidade,
fortalecimento social e uso sustentável dos recursos naturais. As estratégias de projeto vão além das
ações de organização espacial, entrando em iniciativas de sustentabilidade urbana com temas de
infraestrutura verde e ocupação compacta do solo, agindo na organização do comércio existente e preparo
do sistema viário para priorizar o deslocamento dos pedestres, ciclistas e transportes coletivos. Aliado a
essa transformação física na infraestrutura e uso do solo, a atenção ao patrimônio histórico será focada na
preservação das edificações históricas, que ainda mantenham a memória construtiva local, e priorização
da revitalização de uso das descaracterizadas, além de priorizar programas de assistência e capacitação
profissional para os moradores locais. This paper promotes an intervention in the central area of Teresina, in Quadrante Santa Rosa, proposing the implementation of a Rehabilitation Plan made possible in public-private initiatives, focused on mobility,
accessibility, mixed use, revitalization of memory built city , strengthening social and sustainable use of natural resources. The design strategies go beyond the actions of spatial organization, insiding in sustainable initiatives with themes of urban green infrastructure and soil compact occupation, acting in the organization of the existing trade and preparation of the road system to prioritize the movement of
pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. Allied to this transformation in physical infrastructure and land use, the attention will be focused on heritage preservation of historic buildings that still maintain
local constructive memory, and prioritizing the revitalization of the others, beyond prioritizing assistance programs and professional training for the local residents.

This article complements a substantial stream of research (especially Cope and Kalantzis, 2017) through an in-depth investigation of the ways a learning setting is similar to an ecosystem, comprising the elaborate interplay of human, textual, musing, and spatial underlying forces that take a consistent, systemic configuration. E-learning is instrumental in dispositions of space, student–to–teacher and student–to–student connections, the textual articulations of knowledge to which students are exposed, the types of knowledge products that learners design, and the manner the results of their training are assessed. Technologies are instructively nonpartisan. Educational technologies may be employed as an environment for didactic pedagogy and may advance substantial pursuits for education. Reflexive pedagogy, facilitated by a developing tendency of educational technologies, may establish e-learning ecologies that are more appealing for students, more adequate, more resource proficient, and more impartial when confronted with learner diversity. Thoroughgoing evaluations and practical options to didactic pedagogy may be reflexive, constituting somehow a rehabilitation of the dialogical, where the assistance of the student is active in an interaction between teacher and student. The results of our analysis provide evidence that there is a transformation in the steadiness of agency between them, where the latter has significant scope and concern for epistemic undertaking, even though within the set of criteria of an activity cycle that has been set by the former. The insistence is on the outcomes and knowledge representations built up by the student and the mechanisms of their construction, i.e. on the social starting points of knowledge. The outcomes of our research indicate that, in a reflexive pedagogy, data should not be discontinued as facts, conceptual accuracy with outstandingly regulated clarifications, or suppositions grounded in proposals that sit within broader epistemic stated values.

As it is known, long-term psycho-emotional stress in professions from the helping, supporting sphere leads to the occurrence of syndrome of professional burnout (SPB). In SPB , there are violations of mental and psychophysiological adaptation: a decrease in efficiency in the profession, depletion of emotional, energy and personal resources, dysfunction of interpersonal contacts with colleagues and clients. The consequences of occupational stress are characterized by a pronounced combination of symptoms of disorders in the mental, somatic and social spheres of human life. 175 Assistance to persons with SPB is divided into three levels: 1) individual: development of adaptive forms of behavior, treatment of clinical manifestations; 2) interpersonal: optimization of relationships with colleagues, treatment of clinical manifestations; 3) organizational: optimization of the working environment, improvement of working conditions, etc. We have developed a program of medical and psychological assistance for specialists in the social sphere of Russia with SPB. It has been implemented since 2018. The program includes a set of measures of identifying and preventing SPB, decreasing its severity, reducing or alleviation clinical manifestations. Clinico-psychological diagnostics and subsequent individual and group psychotherapy of identified neurotic, psychosomatic disorders are carried out. In the treatment of clinical manifestations of professional stress, such eco-friendly methods of psychotherapy with creativity as: art therapy, ethnotherapy, fairy tale therapy, esthetotherapy, landscape therapy, psychotherapy with creative travel, creative photography, etc. are used in the treatment of clinical manifestations of professional stress. The methods were originally developed and tested by the author on the basis of the method of creative self-expression therapy by Professor M.E. Burno for our patients with various adjustment disorders in dissertation research and within the framework of federal targeted programs commissioned by the Russian Ministry of Labor. At present, we are successfully applying these effective methods in the programs of medical and psychological rehabilitation for SPB specialists in the social sphere of the Russian Federation. Как известно, длительный психоэмоциональный стресс у специалистов помогающих профессий приводит к возникновению синдрома профессионального выгорания (СПВ). При СПВ наблюдаются нарушения психической и психофизиологической адаптации: снижение эффективности в профессии, истощение эмоционально-энергетических и личностных ресурсов, дисфункция межличностных контактов с коллегами и клиентами. Последствия профессионального стресса характеризуются выраженным сочетанием симптомов нарушений в психической, соматической и социальной сферах жизни человека. Оказание помощи лицам при СПВ разделяют на три уровня: 1) индивидуальный: выработка адаптивных форм поведения, лечение клинических проявлений; 2) межличностный: оптимизация взаимоотношений с коллегами, лечение клинических проявлений; 3) организационный: оптимизация обстановки на работе, улучшение условий труда и др. Нами разработана и с 2018 г. реализуется программа медико-психологической помощи при СПВ у специалистов социальной сферы России. Программа включает комплекс мероприятий по выявлению и предотвращению СПВ, снижению степени его выраженности, уменьшению или редукции клинических проявлений. Проводится клинико-психологическая диагностика и последующая индивидуальная и групповая психотерапия выявленных невротических, психосоматических расстройств. В лечении клинических проявлений профессионального стресса применяются экологичные методики психотерапии творчеством: арттерапия, этнотерапия, сказкотерапия, эстетотерапия, ландшафтотерапия, психотерапия творческими путешествиями, творческой фотографией и др. Методики были первоначально разработаны и апробированы автором на основе метода терапии творческим самовыражением профессора М.Е. Бурно для наших пациентов с различными расстройствами адаптации в диссертационных исследованиях и в рамках Федеральных целевых программ по заказу Минтруда России. В настоящее время мы успешно применяем эти эффективные методики в программах медикопсихологической реабилитации при СПВ специалистов социальной сферы Российской Федерации.

The work is devoted to a comprehensive study of medical support, incl. sanatorium-resort treatment of employees of the military prosecutor’s office and members of their families (persons who are dependent on them). It is noted that health care is structurally included in services that, in addition to cash payments and benefits in kind, represent the entire social security system. The main attention in the article is focused on the analysis of the normative legal regulation of the health protection of employees of the military prosecutor’s office, as well as the provision of medical assistance to them (prophylactic medical examination, medical examination, military medical examination, medical and psychological rehabilitation, sanatorium treatment, reimbursement of expenses for drugs and treatment) of proper quality and in the required volume. The key scientific results of the study are the generalization of legal information and scientific knowledge about the procedure for providing medical assistance to employees of the military prosecutor’s office. The main scientific results of the article can be applied to organize training in the discipline «Military law and military legislation». The article will be of interest to persons conducting scientific research on the problems of social protection of servicemen and their families.

Displacement forms part of virtually any major crisis. It introduces a level of complexity when providing social assistance that leads to a specific, usually context-dependent set of challenges. It is widely recognised that the vast majority of displaced people will travel as short a distance as possible to reach safety, whether as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), refugees or irregular migrants in neighbouring countries. Displaced people are disproportionately hosted in low- and middle-income countries, and the length of their displacement is increasing. This highlights the urgent priority of displacement; indeed, it has received sustained attention from the highest levels of global decision-making, particularly since 2016, including two Global Compacts in 2018 (Global Compact for Migration, Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration). Although some have argued that such global summits offer a replacement for meaningful action, these events at least highlight clear political will to shift the emphasis from humanitarian responses to a much longer-term development focus. Interest in social assistance and displacement has also grown since 2018 and resulting policy must respond to this concern for more sustainable responses. High-level commitments are slowly filtering through to policy, while recent research has provided clear frameworks for analysing developing policy approaches. Gaps remain in the analysis of policy implementation and in the assessment of how to access social assistance beyond official state channels.

Protracted crises are increasing and becoming compounded, but financing solutions for humanitarian and social assistance in fragile and conflict-affected settings (FCAS) are not keeping up. UN consolidated (humanitarian/emergency) appeals have, over the past decade, been around 60 per cent-funded, despite growing exponentially in size. Social protection coverage globally remains limited, with only an estimated 45 per cent of the world’s population having access to any form of social protection. This figure dips below 10 per cent in many low-income countries (Development Initiatives 2020; ILO 2017). The lack of coverage comes at a time when global extreme poverty increased in 2020 for the first time in decades (World Bank 2020). Indeed, by 2030, 85 per cent of the extreme poor – some 342 million people – will live in FCAS (Samman et al. 2018). Financing assistance in these contexts is complex, often arriving late, and/or is earmarked for certain actors and activities, when what is required is flexible, multipartner programming. This is despite commitments made by the signatories to the Grand Bargain and at the World Humanitarian Summit to improve the timeliness, flexibility, transparency, and efficiency of aid. Solutions to these challenges remain poorly understood or caught in humanitarian or social protection silos.

Social protection policies increasingly exist in crisis-affected settings. Their implementation is mediated by politics, resource constraints, and the attitudes and beliefs of those responsible for shaping policy. However, prevailing perspectives on the politics of social protection (incorporating social assistance) are largely limited to settings that are not characterised by protracted crises and conflict. This brief summarises the state of what is known and what gaps there are in the evidence regarding how politics shape social assistance policy and implementation. It informs a future research agenda for assessing the dynamics and processes affecting how social assistance is allocated and to whom, including the roles and relationships between global, national, and sub-national actors that influence patterns of allocation.
