Résumé :
The study of overlapping crimes and their punishment in Islamic jurisprudence deals with the issue of one person committing more than one crime, either at one time or in successive and different times. This crime may be of one gender, such as murder or theft, and a person may commit multiple crimes, such as stealing and drinking alcohol. This research looked at the opinions of the jurists in the penalties of such crimes. The research concluded that the jurists unanimously agreed that the criminal should not be punished if he committed several crimes of the same sex, except for one punishment only. For example, if the unmarried person commits the crimes of adultery and defamation, then one punishment is imposed on him, which is the punishment for adultery. The penalty of slander is included in it. If adultery is punished and then slandered after that, then the penalty of slander is applied to it as well. Overlapping means that the penalty for the lesser crime is included in the penalty for the major crime if they are committed together. In studying this subject, I followed the descriptive, analytical and comparative approach, where I explained the concept of overlap, its location, causes, and wording, the definition of punishment and its types, its wisdom and conditions, the penalties sections, the combination of crimes of one sex, the combination of crimes of different races, and how to fulfill multiple penalties, the principle Applications of multiple penalties with a statement of the sayings of the four schools of thought in each issue and a statement of the most correct of them.

Résumé :
In this paper, we mainly consider the convolutions of slanted half-plane mappings and strip mappings of the unit disk D. If f1 is a slanted half-plane mapping and f2 is a slanted half-plane mapping or a strip mapping, then we prove that f1 * f2 is convex in some direction if f1 * f2 is locally univalent in D. We also obtain two sufficient conditions for f1 * f2 to be locally univalent in D. Our results extend many of the recent results in this direction. Moreover, we consider a class of harmonic mappings including slanted half-plane mappings and strip mappings, and as a consequence, we prove that the any convex combination of such locally univalent and sense-preserving mappings is also convex.

Calls for interventionist research in academic disciplines, including science and technology studies (STS), are increasingly common. Yet none offer insights for what to do or whom to turn to after a researcher has intervened and the result is slander, defaming, or disenfranchisement—even though these are possible, and even likely, results of intervening in controversies and power struggles. Drawing from the ethics and methods used in direct action activism, I argue that intentional networks of care and solidarity are necessary supports that need to be in place before we call for interventionist research.

Résumé :
Increasing extreme rainfall events caused by global climate change have had a significant impact on urban drainage systems. As a critical component of a pumping station, a large-scale slanted axial-flow pump (SAFP) featuring high specific speed plays a critical role in mitigating urban flooding and waterlogging. In this study, to reveal the transient characteristics of a SAFP at shut-off conditions, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) based approach with dynamic mesh was proposed. Multiple shut-off conditions with various shut-down speeds of the sluice gate (SG) were modeled. Our analysis demonstrated that both the shut-off conditions and the slanted structure have conspicuous impacts on the hydrodynamic performance of a SAFP. Reducing the shut-down speed leads to a greater reverse flow rate and higher runner speed. The water hammer effect was simulated with different shut-down speeds, increasing the water head by 5.07–10.42 m, the axial force by 163.46–297.06 kN∙m, and the axial moment by 116.05–224.01 kN∙m. Compared with the axial direction, moments in the radial directions were found with more obvious oscillation as a result of stronger rotor–stator interaction. Due to the gravitational effect of the slanted structure, the fluctuation of the runner in vertical direction presented an off-axis characteristic compared with the horizontal one. As the SG speed increased, pressure fluctuations gradually decreased at various locations across the SAFP.

Résumé :
In the paper, transport of water and Cl- under leaching was 2D-digitally simulated with COMSOL Multi-physics. In a two-dimensional transient cross-sectional model. COSMOL was used to investigate water and solute transport in the soil column coupled with variable sand column forms, with “a” denoting no sand column, “b” with one vertical middle sand column, “c “ with one long Slanted sand column, “d” with two long Slanted X-shaped sand columns. The parameters of the model were primarily based on the soil physical properties measured at coastal clay loam saline soil in Tianjin. The simulation results showed that, given same initial and same boundary conditions, sand column increased the transport efficiency of water and salt, which depends on the position and angle of sand column accordingly. The slanted columns were overall superior to the vertical ones in transport efficiency. In sum, “d” was the best type, “c” was the second best and “b” was the third, according to the efficiency of salt leaching and the efficiency of the utilization of water resources.

Résumé :
Many outdoor work environments (e.g. agriculture and construction) require manual material handling activities on variable grade ground surfaces. Quantifying biomechanical responses for lifting under these conditions may provide insight into the etiology of lifting-related injuries. The aim of the current study was to quantify the effect of laterally slanted ground surfaces on biomechanical responses. Ten subjects performed lifting exertions (using a 40% of max load) while standing on a platform that was laterally tilted at 0, 10, 20 and 30 degrees from horizontal. During the lifting tasks the whole body kinematics were collected, which were later used in a dynamic biomechanical model to calculate the time-dependent moment about L5/S1 and the time-dependent lateral forces acting on the body segments. The results showed a consistent reduction in the peak dynamic L5/S1 moment (decreased by 9%) and an increase in the lateral forces (increased by 111%) with increasing slant angle.

Résumé :
The 30° slanted axial-flow pump device is widely used in agricultural irrigation and urban drainage in plains areas of China. However, during the actual operation process, the 30° slanted axial-flow pump device is prone to vibration, noise, cracks in the blades, and other phenomena that affect the safe and stable operation of the pump device. In order to analyze the flow pressure pulsation characteristics of the 30° slanted axial-flow pump device under different flow conditions, the time–frequency domain analysis method was used to analyze the pressure pulsation of each flow structure of the 30° slanted axial-flow pump device. The results showed that the internal pulsation law of the elbow oblique inlet flow channel is similar. At the 1.2 Qbep condition, the amplitude fluctuation of the pressure pulsation was small, and the main frequency is 4 times the rotating frequency. The monitoring points at the outlet of the elbow oblique inlet flow channel were affected by the impeller rotation, and the pressure pulsation amplitude was larger than that inside the elbow oblique inlet flow channel. The pressure fluctuation of each monitoring point at the inlet surface of the impeller was affected by the number of blades. There were four peaks and four valleys, and the main frequency was 4 times the rotating frequency. The amplitude of pressure fluctuation increased gradually from the hub to the rim. The main frequency of pressure fluctuation at each monitoring point of the impeller outlet surface was 4 times of the rotating frequency, and the low frequency was rich. The amplitude of pressure fluctuation was significantly lower than that of the impeller inlet. With the increase of flow rate, the peak fluctuation of pressure coefficient decreased gradually, and the amplitude of pressure fluctuation tended to be stable. Under 0.8 Qbep and 1.0 Qbep conditions, the large fluctuation of the pressure fluctuation amplitude on the outlet surface of the guide vane was mainly affected by the low-frequency fluctuation. Under the 1.2 Qbep condition, the pressure fluctuation amplitude changed periodically.

Résumé :
Cavitation is a complex flow phenomenon that hinders the efficient, safe, and stable operation of hydraulic machinery. To investigate the effect of cavitation on energy performance and flow characteristics of hydraulic machinery, cavitating flow in a slanted axial-flow pump based on entropy production theory and vortex dynamics is studied. The results show that the impeller chamber is a primary region of cavitation and energy loss generation under different cavitation conditions, including the incipient, growing, and wedge-shaped cavitation stages. In the incipient cavitation stage, as degree of cavitation strengthens, the flow at the impeller blade is smooth with little cavitation, and the variation in entropy production is constant, resulting in a stable energy performance. As it evolves into the wedge-shaped stage, the cavitation grows from the tip region near the impeller blade to the hub. At this time, the entropy production increases in the impeller chamber, resulting in a drop in energy performance. Meanwhile, flow separation appears at the impeller blade, and a secondary tip leakage vortex is promoted. The region with high vorticity basically matches the region with the high local entropy production rate. According to the relative vorticity transport equation, compressibility of cavitation strongly affects the relative vorticity in the impeller chamber, indicating that cavitation indirectly increases entropy production and energy loss by affecting the vorticity distribution, resulting in the drop in energy performance.

Résumé :
The modulation transfer function (MTF) is an important parameter for performance evaluation of optical imaging systems in photogrammetry and remote sensing; the slanted-edge method is one of the main methods for measuring MTF. To solve the problem of inaccurate edge detection by traditional methods under the conditions of noise and blur, this paper proposes a new method of MTF measurement with a slanted-edge method based on improved Zernike moments, which firstly introduces the Otsu algorithm to automatically determine the Zernike moment threshold for sub-pixel edge detection to precisely locate the edge points, then obtains LSF through edge point projection, ESF sampling point acquisition, smoothing, fitting, taking ESF curve differential and Gaussian fitting, and finally, accurately obtaining MTF by LSF Fourier transform and modulo normalization. Based on simulation experiments and outdoor target experiments, the reliability of the proposed algorithm is verified by the deviations of slanted-edge angle and MTF measurement, and the tolerance degree of edge detection to noise and ambiguity are analyzed. The results show that compared with ISO 12233, OMNI-sine method, Hough transform method and LSD method, this algorithm has the highest edge detection accuracy, the maximum tolerance of noise and ambiguity, and also improves the accuracy of MTF measurement.

Résumé :
A partially occluded contour and a slanted contour may generate identical binocular horizontal disparities. We investigated conditions promoting an occlusion resolution indicated by an illusory contour in depth along the aligned ends of horizontally disparate line sets. For a set of identical oblique lines with a constant width added to one eye's view, strength, depth, and stability of the illusory contour were poor, whereas for oblique lines of alternating orientations the illusory contours were strong, indicating a reliance on vertical size disparities rather than vertical positional disparities in generating perceived occlusion. For horizontal lines, occlusion was seen when the lines were of different lengths and absolute width disparity was invariant across the set. In all line configurations, when the additional length was on the wrong eye to be attributed to differential occlusion, lines appeared slanted consistent with their individual horizontal disparities. This rules out monocular illusory contours as the determining factor.

Résumé :
Labyrinth seals are a state-of-the-art sealing technology to prevent and control leakage flows at rotor–stator interfaces in turbomachinery. Higher pressure ratios and the economical use of cooling air require small clearances, which lead to potential rubbing events. The use of honeycomb liners allows for minimal leakage by tolerating rub events to a certain extent. A previous study within an EU project investigated the complex contact conditions of honeycomb liners, with the idealized contact of a seal fin and a single parallel metal foil representing the honeycomb double foil section. In the present work, the results for the slanted foil position are shown and compared to the previous results. The variation of rub velocity, incursion speed, incursion rate, and seal geometry in a test rig allows for the identification of the influence on contact forces, temperatures, and wear. For the slanted position, significantly lower friction temperatures are observed, leading to a higher ratio of abrasive wear. Overall, the rub test results demonstrate strong interactions between the contact forces, friction temperatures, and wear.

Résumé :
Aircraft noise prediction models traditionally omit buildings to optimize speed. Buildings and vertical surfaces scatter and reflect incident sound, affecting sound levels around buildings and within streets. Previous studies showed the impact of buildings on aircraft noise, based on a small number of measurements. Based on additional numerical models, it was found that the shape of buildings, i.e. a slanted or overhanging roof, lead to lower sound levels compared to streets comprised of vertical and flat surfaces. To examine these findings, a full-scale field lab was built near Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, comprised of shipping containers. The experiment consists of three courtyards, in which ten microphones measure sound levels from aircraft flyovers, near facades facing towards and away from the sound source (airplanes). Measurements are matched with meteorological and radar data, which gives information about the position of aircraft and the local weather conditions. The measurements show substantial differences depending on the position, ranging between 11dB(A) for a courtyard with straight facades, up to 14dB(A) for facades in a courtyard with a slanted roof and a roof overhang. Results can be used to rethink the way areas near airports are designed.

Résumé :
The purpose of this research was to investigate the use of drilled slanted holes filled with different substrates in the revegetation of rock slopes. Slanted holes were drilled on rock slopes using pneumatic drillers in an abandoned limestone quarry area. These holes were filled with twelve different substrates, treated with Trichoderma harzianum. One climbing plant of Ivy (Hedera rhombea), a native woody plant (Lespedeza cyrtobotrya), three native herbaceous plants (Dianthus barbatus, Siberian chrysanthemum and Aster koraiensis) and one exotic grass plant (Festuca arundinacea) were planted in each of the soils. Six months after planting, only Ivy, Festuca arundinacea, Lespedeza cyrtobotrya and Dianthus barbatus were still observed growing on the soils, while the other plant species had already died in all the 12 soil treatments. Leaf mold soil + 50% Trichoderma harzianum provide the best conditions for revegetation of Festuca arundinacea, as this plant had its highest mean height, high survival rate, with impressive growth rate on this soil. Lespedeza cyrtobotrya also had its most favorable growth on Leaf mold soil + 50% T. harzianum. Mixed soil + 100% T. harzianum provide the best conditions for revegetation of Ivy. Leaf mold soil + 100% T. harzianum provide the best condition for revegetation of Dianthus barbatus as it had its highest mean height, highest growth rate and high survival rate on this soil. Siberian chrysanthemum and Aster koraiensis had the worse results as all of the plants died within a short period of time after planting. Ivy had the highest mean height, followed by Festuca arundinacea. The planted Ivy and Festuca arundinacea now form the vegetation of the research site which together with the substrate is now providing habitat to some wildlife like some species of centipedes, earthworms, insects and wild plants. Less than one year after planting, F. arundinacea already produced flowers and seeds which would further increase the plant population after dispersal and germination. Drilling slanted holes on rock slopes is therefore a feasible method to be used for revegetation and restoration of degraded quarries. The revegetation of steep rock slopes of quarries is a very challenging activity. However, the method of drilling slanted holes on rock slopes is a feasible method to be used for restoration of degraded quarries. These holes could serve in soil deposition and water retention that will further enhance plant growth. Methods of improving seed germination as well as enhancing growth of plants are also imperative in revegetation success of such degraded landscapes. Different percentage mixtures of T. harzianum in different soils could enhance plant growth depending on the target plant species. Different substrates could thus be used in such revegetation process depending on the target plant species.Revegetation would provide habitat and improve landscape beauty and stability, thus it is important for successful restoration of rock slopes

Résumé :
In the production and gathering process of coal gas, the complex composition of the coal gas, harsh environments, the complex medium, and high content of solid particles in slurry cause the equipment malfunctions and even failure because of erosion and corrosion. In the present study, COMSOL multi-physics finite element simulation software is used to simulate the erosion–corrosion behaviors of elbow in key chemical equipments. The electrochemical corrosion, solid particle erosion, chemical reaction, and turbulent flow are coupled together. The particle count method is proposed to clarify the erosion phenomenon. The simulation results show that particles with high turbulent intensity hit the wall of elbow directly, which forms a slanted elliptical erosion zone on the extrados surface at 40°–50°. The chemical reaction in turbulence has a difference in the concentration distribution of substances, and this phenomenon leads to different magnitudes of the corrosion current densities in the tube. Moreover, 1/6 released particles hit the extrados surface of the elbow. These findings are beneficial to understand the erosion–corrosion phenomena and design the elbow in key chemical equipment.

Résumé :
A novel wide coplanar waveguide- (CPW-) fed multiband wearable monopole antenna is presented. The multiband operation is achieved by generating slanted monopoles of different lengths from an isosceles triangular patch. The different operating frequencies of the proposed antenna are associated with the lengths of the slanted monopoles, which are determined under quarter wavelength resonance condition. The CPW line is used as a multiband impedance-matching structure. The two grounds are slightly extended for better impedance matching. The proposed antenna is designed to cover the 1800 MHz GSM, 2.4 GHz/5.2 GHz WLAN, and 3.5 GHz WiMAX bands. The measured peak gains and impedance bandwidths are about 4.18/3.83/2.6/2.94 dBi and 410/260/170/520 MHz for the 1550-1960 MHz/2.3-2.56 GHz/3.4-3.57 GHz/5.0-5.52 GHz bands, respectively. The calculated averaged specific absorption rate (SAR) values at all the resonant frequencies are well below the standard limit of 2 W/kg, which ensures its feasibility for wearable applications. The antenna performance under different bending configurations is investigated and the results are presented. The reflection coefficient characteristics of the proposed antenna is also measured for different on-arm conditions and the results are compared. A good agreement between experimental and simulation results validates the proposed design approach.

AbstractTwo-dimensional convection in a plane layer bounded by stress-free perfectly conducting horizontal boundaries and rotating uniformly about the vertical is considered. Time-independent spatially localized structures, called convectons, of even and odd parity are computed. The convectons are embedded within a self-generated shear layer with a compensating shear flow outside the structure. These states are organized within a bifurcation structure called slanted snaking and may be present even when periodic convection sets in supercritically. These interesting properties are traced to the presence of a conserved quantity and hence to the use of stress-free boundary conditions.

A new hybrid joystick has been developed to share the six degrees of freedom (DOF) by three DOF inputs and three DOF feedback signals. For remotely controlling a mobile robot, steering and acceleration commands can be generated by a 3-DOF joystick using [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text] directional motions, respectively. Usually, a remote operator cannot clearly watch dynamically changing terrain conditions; therefore, it is necessary to feedback the slope and tilt conditions of the road to the operator through the joystick. These values can be obtained based on the inertial navigation system (INS) and feedback to the joystick as kind of reflection forces. Further, a yaw angle has been used to feedback the actual direction of the robot through a steering control. The mechanism and control systems of the hybrid joystick are newly designed, and the effectiveness of this hybrid joystick has been verified through actual remote operation of a mobile robot driving on slanted and tilted terrain.

Résumé :
The recent interest in broadband seismic technology has spurred research into new and improved seismic deghosting solutions. One starting point for deriving deghosting methods is the representation theorem, which is an integral representation for the wave equation. Recent research results show that by using Green’s functions with Dirichlet boundary conditions in the representation theorem, source-side deghosting of already receiver-side deghosted wavefields can be achieved. We found that the choice of Green’s functions with Neumann boundary conditions on the sea surface and the plane that contains the sources leads to an identical but simpler solution with fewer processing steps. In addition, we found that pressure data can be receiver-side deghosted by introducing Green’s functions with Dirichlet boundary conditions on the sea surface and the plane containing the receivers into a modified representation theorem. The deghosting methods derived from the representation theorem are wave-theoretic algorithms defined in the frequency-space domain and can accommodate streamers of any shape (e.g., slanted). Our theoretical analysis of deghosting is performed in the frequency-wavenumber domain where analytical deghosting solutions are well known and thus are available for verifying the solutions. A simple numerical example can be used to show how source-side deghosting can be performed in the space domain by convolving data with Green’s functions.

Some of the numbers in radiology used as a criteria to make or role out a diagnosis for some conditions. These numbers should not be taken for granted since personalized medicine state that every patient is different and should be treated based on his/her condition. Those numbers can’t be used as a golden slandered in all case. This commentary will focus on some examples where numbers as a criteria failed or made the diagnosis impossible.

Résumé :
Abstract The principal focal point of the current review is the second-grade nanofluid (SGNF) stream with slanted magnetohydrodynamics and viscous disintegration impacts across a moving level flat surface with entropy investigation. Here, we have done a comparative study on copper–methanol and iron–methanol second-grade nanoliquids. The governing conditions of the SGNF model are changed into ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by using supportive changes. To tackle the non-straight ODEs, the Runge-Kutta Fehlberg-45 procedure is utilized. The result reveals that the velocity gradient of copper–methanol second-grade nanoliquid is strongly affected by suction, magnetic, and second-grade fluid parameters and declines faster when compared to iron–methanol second-grade nanoliquid. Copper–methanol SGNF shows improved heat transfer than iron–methanol SGNF for improved values of Eckert and Biot numbers.

Résumé :
The growing interest for self-driving cars provides a demand for scene understanding and obstacle detection algorithms. One of the most challenging problems in this field is the problem of pedestrian detection. Main difficulties arise from a diverse appearances of pedestrians. Poor visibility conditions such as fog and low light conditions also significantly decrease the quality of pedestrian detection. This paper presents a new optical flow based algorithm BipedDetet that provides robust pedestrian detection on a single-borad computer. The algorithm is based on the idea of simplified Kalman filtering suitable for realization on modern single-board computers. To detect a pedestrian a synthetic optical flow of the scene without pedestrians is generated using slanted-plane model. The estimate of a real optical flow is generated using a multispectral image sequence. The difference of the synthetic optical flow and the real optical flow provides the optical flow induced by pedestrians. The final detection of pedestrians is done by the segmentation of the difference of optical flows. To evaluate the BipedDetect algorithm a multispectral dataset was collected using a mobile robot.

Résumé :
The three-dimensional interpretation of two-dimensional images was studied by using quadrilateral patterns, and some relationships between their structure, depth, and shape interpretations were analyzed under various viewing conditions. We defined rectangular and nonrectangular viewing conditions as follows: the viewing condition in which the quadrilateral, including parallel sides, could be a projection from a rectangle and the viewing condition in which it could not be so. For 9 subjects, 10 measurements were made in each experiment. Analysis showed that a pair of parallel sides of a quadrilateral were viewed as parallel to the viewer's forehead when the sides were horizontal in the image plane and were seen as slanting in depth if they were slanted in the image plane. The quadrilateral composed of parallel and nonparallel sides was perceived as rectangular when viewed with foveal vision even though under the nonrectangular viewing condition, if that viewing condition was not so different from the rectangular viewing condition. The quadrilateral did not appear to be rectangular when viewed in peripheral vision even though the rectangular viewing condition was used.

driving. While much progress has been made in recent years, imaging conditions in natural outdoor environments are still very challenging for current reconstruction and recognition methods. In this paper, we propose a novel unified approach which reasons jointly about 3D scene flow as well as the pose, shape and motion of vehicles in the scene. Towards this goal, we incorporate a deformable CAD model into a slanted-plane conditional random field for scene flow estimation and enforce shape consistency between the rendered 3D models and the parameters of all superpixels in the image. The association of superpixels to objects is established by an index variable which implicitly enables model selection. We evaluate our approach on the challenging KITTI scene flow dataset in terms of object and scene flow estimation. Our results provide a prove of concept and demonstrate the usefulness of our method.

This article discusses the motives for wearing a face veil in early Islam. With the lens of prophetic historical reflection, it focuses on two narratives of the hadith on veil: the Arab women who sold in the market of Bani Qaynuqa‘ and ‘Aishah on hadith al-ifk. This article argues that the motives of covering their faces has close related to the situation and conditions occurred at the time. Historically, the two stories explained that wearing a face veil as a protection of dignity and self-esteem from an uncomfortable milieu. Sociologically, the face veil was cultural habits in guarding women from any social disorders and negative treatment. While psychologically, wearing a face veil symbolized the purity of an honor and the high value of personality embedded in the dignity of women so as not to invite a slander.

Résumé :
The situation that arose after the start of the special military operation (SVO) conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022, is characterized by a significant change in the international situation. The old contradictions between countries implementing the concept of a unipolar world and states seeking to preserve their political, economic, and cultural independence have intensified. The article proposes to consider SVO as a forced measure of struggle with countries that implement the principles and rules of the culture of selfishness. It represents the conscious creation by man of constantly improving ways of realizing egoistic natural instincts. They are realized in the policy of egocentrism in international relations pursued by the United States against countries that refuse to obey their dictates. The economic and political sanctions against Russia, launched after the start of SVO, are a clear example of the implementation of a culture of selfishness. An association of states consisting of a self-exalted hegemon is being used, and without resistance they have taken the position of self-abased, jointly striving to weaken Russia in its struggle to preserve sovereignty and ensure security. The materials of speeches by politicians, publications by experts, journalists show the implementation by the contenders for world domination of the methods used by the culture of selfishness: deception, lies, slander, blackmail, psychological pressure, the use of armed force. It is shown that these ways of fighting for the preservation of the unipolar world lead to the destruction of the freedoms declared by the liberal ideology: entrepreneurship, inviolability of private property, non-interference of the state in business activities, freedom of speech, press, etc. The reasons are revealed that the actions of the leaders of countries that strengthen sanctions against Russia are characterized by an increasing manifestation of stupidity, inability to perceive reality, which leads to an increase in prices, a recession, and a deterioration in the situation of the population in these states. The role of the culture of cooperation in the fight against the carriers of the culture of selfishness in the conditions of a special military operation is revealed.

Résumé :
A rise in utility consumption in rural areas have promoted the demand for the development of solar-based technologies for water purification system. This research aimed to develop a slanted double-slope solar distillation unit (SDSD) assisted by heat absorbers, which is employed as a distillation unit for generating clear distilled water from underground water. The prototype SDSD distillation unit developed in this research was evaluated based on production efficiency, productivity, distillation rate and temperature measured at different locations inside the device. Significant parameters that were varied included the types of heat absorber used (gasket, rubber, aluminum, high carbon steel and zinc) and the size of heat absorber (10 to 90% of surface area inside the SDSD). Results demonstrated an increase in the production of distilled water as the surface area of heat absorber decreases. This is because a reduction in surface area of the heat absorber allowed a more intense sunlight to enter the system. Maximum productivity peaked at 1.2 liter per day (24.9% efficiency). Monitored data in both the upper and bottom part of the distillation unit revealed the highest distillation rate at 15:00 each day. Distillation rate decreases with water height and insulator’s thermal conductivity, but increase with water speed. Additionally, a mathematical model was proposed which was capable of accurately predicting the production efficiency and productivity as a function of the heat absorber’s size and distillation time. Under the same operating conditions, aluminum was found to generate the best results relative to other types of heat absorber.

In the evaluation, mathematical models for the LDL-C and blood stream and energy transfer were developed as partially coupled arrangement of partial differential equation (PDEs), the PDEs were scaled utilizing the dimensionless variables to dimensionless ordinary differential equation, they are further reduced to perturbed differential equations (ODEs) utilizing the perturbation parameters including the oscillatory term, where the non-homogenous equation and conditions are solved straightforwardly utilizing the technique for undetermined coefficient. The velocity and temperature profiles are gotten for certain overseeing boundaries included, and Mathematica codes were created utilizing simulate the impact of entering parameters on the profile. It is seen that the overseeing boundaries impacted that the entering pertinent parameters influences blood flow and it helps it controlling the LDL-C concentration, aiding treatment of atherosclerosis.

The communicative bearing of professional writing cannot be over emphasized. While writing is certainly the most conservative medium of communication, the writings of some Cameroonian medical professionals continue to pose a problem of comprehension to patients. In this study, we explored some medical prescriptions and attitudes in order to first, find out the extent to which patients effectively interpret medical prescriptions, and second, explore their attitudes towards the nature of medical prescriptions. Data was limited to 120 randomly selected medical booklets in the city of Bamenda. 170 informants (120 patients and 50 medics) were interviewed. The results revealed a significant use of abbreviations, imperative and shortened clauses in largely slanted and blurred calligraphies. While medical practitioners and pharmacists easily interpret prescriptions, they pose a serious problem of comprehension to non-health personnel. This led us to the conclusion that unclear prescriptions, in a way, deny patients complete access to their health conditions and history.

This paper describes the work performed on a small-scale dryer designed to allow agricultural product to be dried by farmers via usage of slanted plates for grains transportation. This work involves the prototype design, computational simulation using Comsol Multiphysics and study of the results. The computational simulation results are plotted in temperature contour-plots based on the prototype modelling and boundary conditions. The results illustrate the difference in opening and closing of grains inlet and also effects of the temperature distribution within the dryer. Air-flow relative humidity is also introduced to allow observation of the drying air-flow on the grains. The simulation results are shown and elaborated here. From the results, it is evident the grains can be dried as the injected heated air-flow is projected onto the plates. It can also be concluded here that farmers may need to close the grains inlet of the dryer to prevent heat loss and non-uniform distribution of heat.

Résumé :
The development of sensitivity to a recently discovered static-monocular depth cue to surface shape, surface contours, was investigated. Twenty infants in each of three age groups (5, 5½, and 7 months) viewed a display that creates an illusion, for adult viewers, that what is in fact a frontoparallel cylinder is slanted away in depth, so that one end appears closer than the other. Preferential reaching was recorded in both monocular and binocular conditions. More reaching to the apparently closer end in the monocular than in the binocular condition is evidence of sensitivity. Infants aged 7 months responded to surface contour information, but infants aged 5 and 5 months did not. In a control study, twenty 5-month-old infants reached consistently for the closer ends of cylinders that were actually rotated in depth. As findings with other static-monocular depth information suggest, infants' sensitivity to surface contour information appears to develop at approximately 6 months.

Résumé :
This paper describes two dual-laser probe integrated fiber optic systems for measuring blade tip clearance in rotating turbomachinery. The probes are nearly flush with the casing inner lining, resulting in minimal flow disturbance. The two probes are closely spaced in a circumferential plane and are slanted at an angle relative to each other so that the blade tip traverse time of the space between the two laser beams varies with the tip radius, allowing determination of the tip clearance at the rotor operating conditions. The tip clearance can be obtained for all the blades in a rotor with a single system, provided there are no synchronous vibrations present at a particular operating condition. These probes were installed in two holders; one provided an included angle between the probes of 20 deg, and the other provided an included angle of 40 deg. The two configurations were calibrated in a vacuum spin rig facility that is capable of reproducing realistic blade tip speeds.

This paper explores women's genitalia as far as QS sees it. al-Ahzab [33] verse 59. The specific explanation is related to the use of the veil, which is widespread in the Indonesian context. This study uses a thematic analysis method of the verses of the Qur'an, and it is concluded that there are differences of opinion regarding women's genitalia, especially regarding the face and palms, whether they are classified as aurat or not. This difference then developed in the legal issue of wearing the veil for women. Regarding the use of the veil, scholars consider social conditions so that there are scholars who require women to wear the veil since there has been a lot of slander spread in the community. Some scholars do not require women to wear the veil because the veil is considered a culture that grows from the local culture. However, wearing the veil for women remains relevant in Indonesia because, in addition to the veil protecting women from naughty views of the opposite sex, it will also affect their subconscious to improve religious practices in their lives.

Résumé :
This paper describes experimental observations of a solid sphere suspended by a vertical or inclined jet. A laminar Newtonian jet is able to suspend a sphere only through viscous entrainment at low Reynolds numbers (Re ~ 10). A turbulent Newtonian jet (Re ~ 104) attracts a sphere that is sufficiently large but rejects smaller ones. The Coanda effect is responsible for steady suspension of solid spheres even in highly slanted jets. Anomalous rotation, opposite to the direction of the local shear, occurs under certain conditions, and its physical mechanism cannot be explained based on available information. A viscoelastic laminar jet is narrower than a comparable Newtonian one and it can suspend spheres at Reynolds numbers in the hundreds, precisely the Re range in which a Newtonian jet fails to suspend a sphere. It is suggested that the contrast between laminar Newtonian and viscoelastic jets may be related to a reversal in the pressure distribution on the surface of the sphere caused by non-Newtonian normal stresses. Flow visualization provides insights into the flow field in the jet and around the solid sphere.

The aim of the present study was to examine the image quality performance of a CMOS digital imaging optical sensor coupled to custom made gadolinium oxysulfide powder scintillators, doped with praseodymium, cerium, and fluorine (Gd2O2S:Pr,Ce,F). The screens, with coating thicknesses 35.7 and 71.2 mg/cm2, were prepared in our laboratory from Gd2O2S:Pr,Ce,F powder (Phosphor Technology, Ltd.) by sedimentation on silica substrates and were placed in direct contact with the optical sensor. Image quality was determined through single index (information capacity, IC) and spatial frequency dependent parameters, by assessing the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) and the Normalized Noise Power Spectrum (NNPS). The MTF was measured using the slanted-edge method. The CMOS sensor/Gd2O2S:Pr,Ce,F screens combinations were irradiated under the RQA-5 (IEC 62220-1) beam quality. The detector response function was linear for the exposure range under investigation. Under the general radiography conditions, both Gd2O2S:Pr,Ce,F screen/CMOS combinations exhibited moderate imaging properties, in terms of IC, with previously published scintillators, such as CsI:Tl, Gd2O2S:Tb, and Gd2O2S:Eu.

Résumé :
Orientation disparity, the difference in orientation that results when a texture element on a slanted surface is projected to the two eyes, has been proposed as a binocular cue for 3D orientation. Since orientation disparity is confounded with position disparity, neither behavioral nor neurophysiological experiments have successfully isolated its contribution to slant estimates or established whether the visual system uses it. Using a modified disparity energy model, we simulated a population of binocular visual cortical neurons tuned to orientation disparity and measured the amount of Fisher information contained in the activity patterns. We evaluated the potential contribution of orientation disparity to 3D orientation estimation and delimited the stimulus conditions under which it is a reliable cue. Our results suggest that orientation disparity is an efficient source of information about 3D orientation and that it is plausible that the visual system could have mechanisms that are sensitive to it. Although orientation disparity is neither necessary nor sufficient for estimating slant, it appears that it could be useful when combined with estimates from position disparity gradients and monocular perspective cues.

Résumé :
Atmospheric turbulence causes the amplitude and phase of sound waves to fluctuate, which reduces the coherence of acoustic signals. Spatial coherence describes the similarity of two signals at different points in space, and a better understanding of acoustic coherence could lead to improved target detection, tracking, and identification. This presentation compares theoretical predictions and measurements of the acoustic spatial coherence. The theoretical coherence is derived by combining sound propagation theory with turbulence models that include the effects of atmospheric shear and buoyancy instabilities. To be applicable to vertical and slanted propagation, the turbulence models use height-dependent variances and length scales for the fluctuations in temperature, shear-produced velocity, and buoyancy-produced velocity. Instrumentation on a 135-m meteorological tower at the National Wind Technology Center (Boulder, CO) provided the required model input data. The coherence measurements used a ground-based source and nine microphones attached to the same meteorological tower. Overall, the theoretical model accurately approximated the measured spatial coherences, especially when the atmospheric turbulence was fully developed (e.g., in the afternoon on sunny days). The largest disagreement occurred for measurements taken at dawn. For a source frequency of 3.4 kHz and microphones that are 130 m high and 1.5 m apart, the measured coherence was 0.3–0.6 for sunny conditions and 0.8–0.9 for cloudy conditions.

After nine years of a National-led government, and with it a policy slanted toward business’ and away from workers’ interests, the Council of Trade Unions (CTU) welcomed a change to a new Coalition Government in 2017. There had been many changes to laws over the period of the previous government that affected the work of unions and conditions of employment that unions did not support and were eager to change. We were keen to roll back the negative amendments to employment law that had been put in place, as well as advance and improve in new areas. Of course, changes to the laws affecting employment are one thing, but the government also has an impact through the policies and activities of its agencies: as a direct employer, in procurement and as a regulator. Taken together, there certainly was an improvement over the past three years for unions and workers, but it was interrupted somewhat due to the extraordinary circumstances of a pandemic, which required an urgent and immediate response and was prioritised above all else. Below are some of the more significant changes.

Résumé :
The impact of the artificial aging response on the microstructure and tensile mechanical properties of aluminum alloy 6156 was investigated. Specimens were artificially aged at three different artificial aging temperatures and for various holding times to investigate all possible aging conditions, including the under-aged (UA), peak-aged (PA) and over-aged (OA) tempers. Microstructural investigation as well as tensile tests were performed immediately after the isothermal artificial aging heat treatment. An almost 50% increase in yield stress (around 340 MPa) was noticed in the PA temper and this was attributed to the precipitation of β′ and Q′ phases, consistent with the modelling predictions. This high yield stress value is accompanied by high values of elongation at fracture (>10%) that is essential for damage tolerance applications. The lack of large or interconnected grain boundary precipitates contributes to this high elongation. Slanted fracture was noticed for both UA and PA tempers, exhibiting a typical ductile and shear fracture mechanism. At the OA temper, coarsening of the precipitates along with broadening of the precipitate free zones resulted in a reduction in the strengthening effectiveness of the precipitates, and a small increase in the tensile ductility of approximately 12% was noticed.

However, the strategy to increase the awareness of social media users is not easy to formulate. In advance, it is necessary to know the biggest motives of social media users in receiving and redistributing hoax information. Based on research using a quantitative approach through a cross-sectional survey strategy, it has been found that the motives that most often underlie social media users in receiving hoax information are dominated by the information exposure process motive and the viral information motive. In addition, someone's motive for sharing hoax information is the motive for low information literacy and cultural motives for sharing information.

Résumé :
The many polemics that occur in the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), starting from the lack of the maximum legislative function where the Parliament is considered not productive in producing laws, instead of being productive, when producing Draft Laws actually results in highly controversial results. Like the latest Penal Code Bill, the Corruption Eradication Commission Law revised and caused turmoil in the community. Slanted news about legislative institutions in Indonesia has become a public secret, ranging from the lack of members present at meetings to those who are sleeping together and other issues. This research summarizes the opinions of thinkers in the world of Islamic state administration so that analyzing the capability or competence of DPR members is the main cause that causes a number of problems that occur. Furthermore, the concept of Islamic constitutionality answers that the professionalism and expertise aspects are the main priorities of those who fill positions in the legislature. So that there is a need to reconstruct the conditions of people who will fill the positions of DPR members needed by people who have capabilities and expertise in both the legislative, budgetary and supervisory functions. The estuary is the maximum performance of legislative members who are the presentations of all Indonesian people.

Résumé :
The way in which a planar surface is defined or configured may affect its apparent slant about a given axis, and the magnitude of slant-axis anisotropies. The authors have previously suggested that (i) these within-axis and between-axis configuration effects may be attributable, in part at least, to the perspective—disparity conflict generated when geometrically frontoparallel configured surfaces are slanted stereoscopically; and (ii) that implicit contours, defined by line endings or conjunctions, may have effects analogous to those seen with explicit contours. These possibilities were directly examined in two experiments. In experiment 1, slant-axis anisotropy was progressively induced by adding horizontal lines to a vertical-line (zero anisotropy) grid under conditions of cue conflict; slants about the vertical (but not the horizontal) were attenuated—demonstrating a clear and systematic nexus between surface configuration and slant-axis anisotropy. The presence of regular implicit horizontals similarly and selectively attenuated the slant perceived about the vertical. In experiment 2, cue conflict was seen to exacerbate slant-axis anisotropy, but clearly could not fully account for it. There was an axis asymmetry in the effect of degrading implicit contours: degradation had a marked impact on perceived slant about the horizontal but not the vertical axis.

Résumé :
In this study, 3D printing of Ti6Al4V alloy is realized and the characteristics of the printed layer are examined. The morphological structures and metallurgical changes in the printed layer are assessed. Temperature and stress fields are simulated in line with the experimental conditions. Since the air gaps are present in between the loose alloy powders prior to the printing, the effective properties incorporating the air fraction are determined and the effective properties are used in the simulations. Thermal conductivity of the loose alloy powders with the presence of air gaps is determined by incorporating the virtual experimental technique. It is found that the printed layer is free from micro-cracks and large scale asperities; however, some small pores sites are observed because of the release of air around the loose powders during the printing. Microhardness of the printed surface is higher in the top surface of the printed layer than that of as-received solid alloy. In addition, the friction coefficient of the printed surface remains lower than that of the conventionally produced solid surface. The columnar structures are formed in the mid-section of the printed layer and slanted grains are developed in the region of the top and the bottom surface of the printed layer.
