Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer based system used to storing and manipulating geographic information. GIS can also merge data, manage data, and analyze data and produce an output to support a decision making.The purpose of this thesis is to make a GIS application that maps a location of each temporary dumpsite in Jakarta. The development of this GIS is using System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method includes of Planning, Analyze, Design, and Implementation. This GIS will using ArcGIS program to make a map of the temporary dumpsite's location. The output would be showed with map of temporary dumpsite distribution with ArcGIS, and the output will embedded to a website.

Information about tourism sites in Tangerang Regency is inadequate. Tourists have difficulty in obtaining information about tourist attractions. This study propose a model of tourism geographic information system (GIS) to make help tourists to find and obtain information about tourism in Tangerang Regency easier. In this research, activities consist of two stages, namely: data collection and system design. Data collection activities carried out by observation, interviews, and literature study. While the GIS model is designed with Unified Modeling Language, reuse method, and prototype. The final result of this research is a model of tourism geographic information system in the form of use case diagrams, activity diagrams, class diagrams and prototype user interfaces. The test results showing that the model produced has a score of 72.1 with a good predicate. This shows that the resulting model is in accordance with needs and can be used as a basis in building a tourist geographic information system.

Data will be processed in GIS spatial data which is geographically and location oriented data that has a certain coordinate system, as a basic reference. So the GIS application can answer several questions such as; location, conditions, trends, patterns and modeling. This capability distinguishes GIS from other information systems. By building a geographical information system it is hoped that it can help the public to find out where the location of veterinarians in the city of Padang is based on Android. So that people can more easily find the location of veterinarians in the city of Padang quickly and accurately that can be accessed via cell phones (Smartphones). In this geographic information system making additional application programs used are MapInfo, Android Studio, and other supporting applications.

The losses and impacts suffered are enormous for the roadusers, while mapping and research, especially on road conditions,are still lacking attention. Recognizing the need for information onroad damage that can display the condition of provincial roads inNorth Buton Regency, the information system that will be displayedin the form of a digital map based on Geographical InformationSystem (GIS) is more effective in providing visualization of roaddamage data, road conditions and reports of road damage,especially on provincial roads in North Buton Regency.The research objectives are: (1) To analyze the level of damage toprovincial roads in North Buton Regency. (2) Knowing the WEBbased Geographical Information System Damage to ProvincialRoads in North Buton Regency.The results of the analysis and discussion carried out resulted in thelevel of damage to the Provincial Roads in North Buton Regencyusing the PCI (method Pavement Condition Index)along 12 km whichis divided per 300 meters into 40 segments. With the average valueof 65 in the condition(Good)and then with a geographic informationsystem (GIS) based WEB, data showed damage to the weathering ofthe surface as much as 31%, the hole as much as 39%, Cracksextends as much as 4%, Weathering granules off as much as 13% ,Block crack by 2%, Bleeding as much as 9% and Amblast by 2%.

The need for information regarding the spatial distribution of the area of origin of students who are currently studying at the Manado State University (UNIMA) is very important because the information built can provide useful input for planning, development, or evaluation. So that the distribution of the areas of origin of students who are studying at UNIMA can be mapped properly, an information system based on Geographical Information Systems (GIS) can be built according to its geographic location. This study aims to create and present information about the spatial distribution of students from UNIMA through GIS. Quantitative type research methods with a spatial analysis approach (spatial analysis) using secondary data. Data analysis techniques through Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to create a digital map of the spatial distribution of student origin using OpenStreetMap and Quantum GIS Zanzibar 3.8.1. The results showed that the spatial distribution of the area from which UNIMA students used GIS, made it easier to present information through digital maps. The information system created can display the distribution data of the student's area of origin, namely the number of students from each province in Indonesia and especially in the form of a distribution map. The largest distribution of student origin came from North Sumatra Province with 1,209, followed by South Sulawesi Province with 893 and North Maluku Province with 650 students.

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) represent today a key tool for the analysis of the territorial context, allowing its visualization and, at the same time, the updating of information with statisticalterritorial content, whose knowledge is essential for an effective understanding and planning of the spatial organization of individuals’ activities. The present work, a thorough study of the student population of the University of Molise in the years 2010-2017, in fact presents the opportunity to test the potential offered by the use of such an innovative approach to geo-territorial analysis. It has been implemented with a methodology of analysis allowing to combine the territorial, cartographic, and locational aspects of the investigated phenomenon, with statistical contents, represented by the set of different sources of socio-economic spatial data linked to it. The research carried out therefore aims to provide a knowledge of the “footprint” of the University of Molise through the use of different geographical approaches. The analysis of the Miur data contributed to define the migratory flows of the Molise students to the different university locations and the chosen degree programs. The study of the geographical origins of students enrolled at the University of Molise has then allowed to understand the degree of attractiveness of the various degree programs offered by the University. Finally, the attention was paid to the flow of students from the various “educational clusters,” that is the sets of local institutes where they obtained their high school degree, representing a different territorial footprint from which the University of Molise draws its students. This allowed us also to confirm that, among the current information support technologies, GIS is the best performing tool for decision support activities.
I sistemi informativi geografici, meglio noti con l’acronimo GIS (Geographic Information System), rappresentano oggi uno strumento di analisi del contesto territoriale in grado di rappresentare e, al contempo, aggiornare le informazioni a contenuto statistico-territoriale, la cui conoscenza è basilare per una efficace comprensione e, conseguentemente, progettazione dell’organizzazione spaziale delle attività degli individui. Il presente lavoro, un approfondito studio della popolazione studentesca dell’Università degli Studi del Molise nel periodo 2010-2017, presenta infatti l’opportunità di dimostrare le potenzialità che il ricorso a tale approccio innovativo di analisi geo-territoriale offre. Esso è stato implementato su una metodologia di analisi in grado di coniugare l’aspetto prettamente territoriale, cartografico e localizzativo del fenomeno indagato con aspetti a contenuto statistico, rappresentati dall’insieme delle diverse fonti di dati spaziali socio-economici ad esso riconducibili. Ciò consente, dunque, di affermare che, tra le attuali tecnologie a supporto dell’informazione, i GIS rappresentano lo strumento più performante per l’attività di supporto alle decisioni. La ricerca condotta ha dunque l’obiettivo di fornire una conoscenza del bacino di utenza dell’Ateneo molisano attraverso l’impiego di approcci geografici diversi. L’analisi dei dati Miur ha contribuito a definire i flussi migratori degli studenti molisani verso le diverse sedi universitarie e i corsi di studi scelti. Lo studio delle provenienze geografiche degli immatricolati all’Ateneo molisano ha consentito invece di comprendere il grado di attrattività dei corsi di studio proposti dall’Ateneo. Infine l’attenzione è stata rivolta a flussi di studenti provenienti dai diversi poli scolastici che rappresentano gli ambiti territoriali da cui l’Università del Molise attinge studenti.

The objective of this Doctoral Thesis was to provide the archaeologists of the École Française de Rome, of CNRS Aix en Provence, and all those who carry out research on the territory of Aquileia with a tool enabling them to organize, store, visualize, share and compare the findings of a multitude of disciplines involved - their common subject being the ancient structures of the Fluvial Port of Aquileia. The study was carried out in the framework of a PICS-project and is based on the most recent findings on Roman Time - Aquileia, yet covering its complete history until the 19th and 20th century. Several institutions, departments and bodies both in Italy and abroad have been consulted for documents and technical support material. The result was an exhaustive collection of documents that was successively re-organised in a SIT-system, which had been created through constant exchange and consultation with the final user - the archaeologist himself. From the very outset the objective was not to create a mere IT application, but rather a tool for the efficient management of archaeological data which may in itself become an instrument for research and lead to new findings. The study ultimately proposes itself as a first step towards a better sharing of information through a common platform and better integration of technical and humanistic disciplines.

Emergency plans, prepared according to the national and regional laws, are the main instruments available for local administrators and authorities for natural and technological risks reduction purposes. Emergency planning needs a thorough spatial analysis based upon a great amount of spatial data which are not always updated, accessible or available. Furthermore, current methodologies for the evaluation of hazard, vulnerability and risk are not standardised by the Italian national or regional regulations. The accuracy of spatial analysis is fundamental for the achievement of the main objective of emergency planning: the construction of risk scenarios, which are the base for the definition of emergency procedures in Emergency Plans, in a municipal and inter-municipal area. In this context, the aim of the project is to use Geographic Information Systems for data acquisition processes and integrated data management applied on risk scenario planning, through infrastructure and hazard analysis. A Geographic Information System was implemented as a supporting tool for such analysis, for the elaboration, updating, use and publication of an emergency plan in a municipal and inter-municipal area, regarding the main risks of the study areas (hydrogeological risk, wild fire risk and technological risk). Regarding risk analysis, a detailed study about technological risk was developed, focused on the difficulties of data acquisition for accident scenarios definition. In one of the study areas, Consorzio Isola Bergamasca, Bergamo Province, a case study was selected for the application of industrial accident consequence modelling. Both a commercial and a free software were used for the simulation of an anhydrous ammonia release. Simulation results were used to define hazard scenarios for toxic cloud dispersion. The integration of hazard scenarios and infrastructure spatial information was useful for locating vulnerable and strategic elements (elements at risk) in preliminary risk scenarios. Definition of a workflow of operative procedures based on risk scenarios, implemented as a GIS application specific for local emergency management, allows the passage from a pure GIS into a Decision Support System.

Oggi, la totalità delle operazioni GIS possono essere svolte con software open source e in questa sedi si è scelto di utilizzare il GIS GRASS (Geographic Resources Analysis Support System) disponibile nei termini della GNU public license (GPL), mostrando l’usabilità e le notevoli potenzialità di tale software, nonché la qualità dei prodotti ottenibili, mai inferiori ai prodotti e agli strumenti messi a disposizione dai più radicati e diffusi programmi proprietari. Nel capitolo 4, vedremo l’applicazione all’analisi delle conseguenze di ipotetici incidenti, durante le operazioni di dismissione dell’impianto di processamento del combustibile nucleare, di Bosco Marengo (AL). Nel capitolo 5, vedremo applicazioni nel campo del monitoraggio della qualità dell’aria tramite analisi di immagini satellitari.

L’obiettivo di tale studio è stato quello di implementare un Sistema di Informazione Geografica (GIS) per il monitoraggio dell’attività di pesca e delle risorse alieutiche, considerando le marinerie delle Isole Egadi, a rappresentanza di alcune tipologie di base dell’attività di pesca artigianale e per i diversi vincoli ambientali che in quest’area insistono quali la Riserva Naturale Marina e i Siti Natura 2000, al fine di suggerire opportune strategie di protezione sia per le risorse pescabili che per l’ambiente. Quindi un sistema esperto a supporto delle decisioni, che consenta di visualizzare i complessi scenari nell’ambito della valutazione delle risorse alieutiche nella dimensione spazio-temporale (Spatial Decision Support System), orientato alla pianificazione territoriale per un uso sostenibile delle risorse naturali, sinergica e coordinata tra i vari enti territoriali preposti. Nel corso di tale studio è stato messo a punto un data-warehouse, orientato alla pianificazione territoriale contenente differenti tipologie di dati ambientali, un database relazionale (RDBMS) contenente i dati riguardanti la pesca e la flotta, e un GIS in grado di gestire, analizzare, integrare dati eterogenei, riferendoli alle rispettive posizioni geografiche, finalizzato nello specifico ai seguenti obiettivi: - Studio delle caratteristiche ambientali dell’area di interesse; - Caratterizzazione della struttura della flotta per ciascun porto; - Variabilità degli attrezzi utilizzati nel tempo e nello spazio in ciascun porto; - Indagine delle specie catturate, qualitativamente e quantitativamente; - Indagine dello sforzo di pesca e cattura per unità di sforzo (CPUE), nello spazio e nel tempo; - Analisi dei principali parametri chimico-fisici ambientali (temperatura, salinità, ossigeno, etc); - Rilevazione delle condizioni climatiche e meteo-marine; - Individuazione di specie e habitat di elevato valore ecologico; - Valutazioni ambientali e indicazioni gestionali. In particolare, è stata indagata l’area di studio, gli aspetti geologici, biologici, con particolare rilievo ad habitat e specie di interesse scientifico e/o ecologico, mediante ricerche bibliografiche e campagne sperimentali in mare. Sono state realizzate le indagini inerenti la pesca e la flotta mediante i seguenti metodi: metodo indiretto e metodo diretto. Il metodo indiretto ha compreso la raccolta dei dati settimanalmente mediante rilevazione allo sbarco, per un intero anno. Il metodo diretto ha compreso la realizzazione di campagne sperimentali opportunamente pianificate, utilizzando come campionatore diverse tipologie di imbarcazioni e attrezzi delle marinerie dell’area, per la raccolta diretta di dati, sempre nell’arco di un anno. Durante le pescate sperimentali si è fatto uso di strumentazione GPS (Global Positioning System) per registrare le coordinate geografiche del punto iniziale, medio e finale dell’attrezzo in pesca. La profondità, a cui sono state effettuate le pescate, è stata registrata mediante ecoscandaglio. I dati oceanografici sono stati prelevati in situ, mediante sonde multiparametriche. Sono state rilevate informazioni riguardo le condizioni climatiche e meteo-marine. E’ stato realizzato un GIS facendo uso del software ArcGIS 9.1 della ESRI. Per la definizione dei temi e per uniformare le informazioni raccolte e catalogate nel datawarehouse, questo è stato strutturato in accordo ad un Thesaurus di Riferimento per Applicazioni ambientali (Environmental Applications Reference Thesaurus, EARTh). I dati riguardanti la pesca e la flotta sono stati elaborati e organizzati in un Database relazionale (RDBMS), che ha permesso la gestione dell’informazione geografica assicurando caratteristiche quali efficienza nelle prestazioni, controllo degli accessi, controllo delle ridondanze, conferendo una formidabile elasticità alla struttura e quindi di analisi spaziale, permettendo così di analizzare i diversi aspetti dei fenomeni. Questo è stato arricchito con collegamenti (hyperlink) a documenti utili (leggi, direttive, vincoli territoriali), immagini (foto di barche, coste, specie, attrezzi), pagine web. Infine, il sistema è stato organizzato in modo che, effettuando differenti interrogazioni ed operazioni quali analisi di dati spaziali (interpolazioni, operazioni di overlay, raster calculator), analisi degli attributi (query o funzioni di ricerca, SQL, summarize, statistics) e analisi integrata (spaziali e attributi), ha permesso di ottenere differenti informazioni nella dimensione spazio-temporale. In conclusione, il sistema è stato predisposto per analizzare e visualizzare i complessi scenari esistenti nell’ambito della valutazione delle risorse alieutiche nella dimensione spazio-temporale (monitoraggio), considerando le caratteristiche ambientali e le diverse problematiche dell’area, in modo da prevedere i possibili scenari futuri (forecasting) creando una modellizzazione della realtà, al fine di: fornire indicazioni nel pianificare una gestione ottimale delle risorse, razionale, integrata e sostenibile, quindi fornire spazialmente una scelta di soluzioni al decisore (Spatial Decision Support System) per la conservazione degli stock ma anche per preservare gli ecosistemi marini; avviare in caso di un’area sottoposta a più vincoli (Riserva Marina, Sito Natura 2000, IBA) una pianificazione concertata e sinergica tra i diversi livelli istituzionali preposti (governance multilivello e interscalare) ed evitare quindi una pianificazione conflittuale o ridondante. Il sistema realizzato potrebbe vedere applicazione nell’ambito delle seguenti pianificazioni: per la realizzazione dei piani di gestione pesca regionali, inerenti il Programma Operativo Pesca - FEP nazionale (Fondo Europeo per la Pesca); per l’elaborazione dei piani di gestione dei Siti Natura 2000; per la predisposizione delle varie fasi della Valutazione Ambientale Strategica (VAS); per la predisposizione di piani territoriali di Gestione Integrata della Fascia Costiera GIZC; nell’istituzione di Aree Marine Protette o Riserve Naturali Marine, Parchi, ed in particolare risulterebbe utile nella pianificazione della zonazione, soprattutto quando in tali aree è presente come forte componente l’attività di pesca, ricoprendo un elevato valore in termini di occupazione, commercio, attività ricreative e quindi di benessere economico.
The objective of this study was to implement a Geographic Information System (GIS) for the monitoring of fishing activities and alieutic resources in the Egadi Islands, as being representative of a few fundamental kinds of small-scale fishing and for various existing environmental restrictions such as the Marine Reserve and Natura 2000 sites. The purpose was to suggest appropriate conservation strategies for both alieutic resources and the environment. In other words, an expert system to decision support, making it possible to visualize complex scenarios in the assessment of alieutic resources in a space-time dimension (Spatial Decision Support System), geared towards spatial planning -for a sustainable use of natural resources- in synergy and coordination among the various authorities in charge. In the study a data-warehouse was set up, geared towards spatial planning and containing various categories of environmental data, a relational database (RDBMS) containing data on fishing and fleets, and a GIS capable of processing, analyzing and integrating heterogeneous data in reference to their respective geographical locations, with the following specific objectives: - Study of the environmental characteristics of the area of focus; - Characterization of the structure of the fleet for each port; - Investigating fishing gear changes in time and space in each port; - Quantitative and qualitative investigation of the species caught; - Analysis of fishing effort and catch per unit effort (CPUE), in time and space; - Analysis of the main environmental -physical and chemical- parameters (temperature, salinity, oxygen, etc.); - Survey of climatic and sea weather conditions; - Identification of species and habitats of high ecological value; - Environmental assessment and management guidelines. In particular, the investigation was carried out on the area of focus, its geological and biological aspects, with special attention to habitats and species of scientific/ecological interest, through bibliographic research and experimental sampling at sea. The investigation on fishing and fleets has been carried out with the following methods: indirect method and direct method. The indirect method has involved weekly collection of data from interviews at landing, over a whole year. The direct method has involved carefully planned sampling trips, using various types of boats and gear of the local fisheries for direct collection of data, also over a whole year. In the sampling process, a GPS (Global Positioning System) was used to record the initial, middle and final geographical coordinates of the fishing gear. Depths of experimental fishing were recorded with an echo sounder. Oceanographical data were obtained on site, with the use of multiparametric probes. Information has been recorded on climatic and sea weather conditions. The GIS was set up using ArcGIS 9.1 software by ESRI. For definitions of topics and to standardize the information collected and filed in the data-warehouse, this has been structured in accordance to the Environmental Applications Reference Thesaurus (EARTh). Data regarding fishing and fleets have been processed and organized in a relational database (RDBMS), which has made it possible to manage geographical information as well as assuring characteristics such as efficiency of performance, access control, redundancy control, thus giving the structure remarkable flexibility also in terms of spatial analysis and the possibility of looking at the various aspects of events. The database has also been enriched with hyperlinks to useful documents (laws, directives, planning restrictions), images (photos of boats, coastlines, species, gear), and web pages. Finally, the system has been organized so as to be able to obtain various kinds of information in a space-time dimension through operations and procedures such as spatial data analysis (interpolation, overlay, raster calculator), analysis of attributes (query or search functions, SQL, summarize, statistics) and integrated analysis (spatial data and attributes). In conclusion, the system has been set to analyze and visualize complex scenarios in the assessment of fishable resources in a space-time dimension (monitoring), taking into consideration the environmental characteristics and various critical factors of the area, so as to forecast possible scenarios and create models of reality with the purpose of: providing indications for optimal, rational, integrated and sustainable resource management, as well as a range of spatial options for decision-makers (Spatial Decision Support System) for the conservation of stock and marine ecosystems; in the case of areas subjected to multiple restrictions [Marine Reserve, Natura 2000 site, IBA (Important Bird Areas)], giving way to a concerted, synergic planning activity among the various authorities in charge (multi-level and inter-scalar governance) and thus avoiding any conflictual, redundant planning. Such system could be applied in the following planning situations: implementation of regional fishing management plans within the national Operational Programme – EFF (European Fisheries Fund); preparing of management plans for Natura 2000 sites; preparation of the various phases of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA); preparing of plans for the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM); institution of Marine Protected Areas or Marine Reserves, Parks, in particular, it would be useful to plan the zoning of this areas protected, especially when fishing activity is strong and of high value for occupation, trade, recreational activities and hence economic welfare.

Information about roads system is one of application branches of geographical information system. In my work I have explored some programmes that are created in Lithuania and have the similar purpose. During this analysis there was cleared up that we don‘t obtain the desirable result with these systems. There were discussed GIS creation instruments and given reasons to choice AutoDesk programmes package. During this work there was created a project that functions meet the users’ requirements. There are pictured roads system and formed menu for laying out road constructions, generation of reports, withdrawal of co-ordinations to textual file. The external data base that can do analysis of roads and their constructions is connected to roads system. The experimental research of system shows that it works and could be used practically. For graphic data accuracy (error till 1.5 meter) we copy the information from a map and put it to GPS (global positioning system) equipment – in that way inventory and then analysis of roads and roads constructions are done. This project isn‘t completed. There is lack of information about attribute base of roads and roads constructions, so there is a need to improve attribution part. System functions could be developed by integrating it to „LAKIS“ (Lithuanian automobile roads information system) programme that was used in the work. Resumo: Os Sistemas de Informações Geográficas (SIG) são uma forma moderna e eficaz de interligar informações alfanuméricas a uma base geográfica espacial (informação cartográfica), permitindo as mais distintas análises conjuntas. Embora o SIG seja uma ferramenta de gestão desejável, sua implantação efetiva é onerosa e um planejamento mal feito pode levar ao malogro todas as expectativas de benefícios que se objetivavam com a sua implantação. Os pequenos sistemas de abastecimentos de água que atendem as pequenas e médias cidades, via de regra, não dispõem de corpo técnico qualificado e de recursos para a implantação adequada de um SIG. Neste sentido, o presente trabalho apresenta um guia para implantação do SIG para estes sistemas, com base em informações relatadas na literatura

La Pianificazione Spaziale Marittima (MSP) consiste nel pianificare quando e dove svolgere le attività umane in mare e coinvolge tutti gli stakeholders in modo trasparente nella gestione degli usi del mare e della sua conservazione. La tecnologia GIS ha contribuito allo sviluppo della pianificazione spaziale in molti settori, grazie alla sua capacità di integrare grandi quantità di dati di diverso formato e provenienza. Questo lavoro di tesi si inserisce nell’ambito del Programma Operativo FEAMP (Fondo Europeo per gli Affari Marittimi e la Pesca dell'UE nel periodo di programmazione 2014-2020) della Regione Campania, ed in particolare nella Priorità 2 che promuove un’acquacoltura sostenibile. Lo scopo di questo studio è definire le aree idonee al posizionamento di siti di acquacoltura in Campania e il loro grado di suitability tramite una analisi multicriteria in ambiente GIS. Tutte le informazioni necessarie per definire lo stato dell’arte e propedeutiche all’identificazione delle AZA (Zone Allocate per l’Acquacoltura) sono state raccolte da bibliografia (utilizzata anche per la selezione dei criteri), da database spaziali già esistenti o digitalizzate da cartografia. Questi dati sono stati inclusi nel Geodatabase di progetto, sul catalogo di metadati FEAMP e processati per produrre i vincoli, le aree idonee, i fattori e i macrofattori (“Conservazione”, “Socio-economia” e “Qualità ambientale”). Il grado di suitability delle aree idonee è stato calcolato tramite WLC (Weighted linear combination), dopo aver condotto un AHP (Analytic Hyerarchical Process) per la scelta dei pesi da utilizzare nella produzione di 4 scenari di suitability. Tutti gli scenari individuano le aree più idonee principalmente nel casertano, nel golfo di Salerno e nel pompeiano, dove sono presenti la maggior parte degli impianti già attivi sul territorio. Pertanto, gli strumenti GIS utilizzati in questo lavoro di tesi possono essere considerati efficaci nell’ambito della pianificazione spaziale.

In early 60-ies of XX th century the computer is born and begin to inculcate in various range of life. Text data have been changed into digital databases. In late nineties computers becomes concurrent with our daily life. In year of 2001 government begins to fund computerizing of secondary schools in Lithuania. According, to analysis of situation in secondary schools computerization, we can admit that the level of computerization is high. Situation with geography computerization is quite comfortable too. It is good situation to begin apply GIS to secondary education. In year of 2002 a document of “Geography education standards for secondary schools” was realized, and GIS, as a part of geography, has his place in this document. Talking about textbooks of geography, it is only one of them that includes information about GIS (prepared by David Waugh), but considering to geography standards, to form informational skills of students, information about GIS in this textbook is insufficient. Looking for information about GIS we regarded of qualitative information standards, that is set by Education evolutionary centre. Information about GIS is divined into several rubric, they are: definition of GIS, history and birth of GIS, shape of data used in GIS, usage of GIS in modern world. Il progetto d’informatizzazione del Catasto Gregoriano Urbano di Roma è stato avviato circa dieci anni fa, grazie a un finanziamento della Fondazione Cariplo, ed è ora nella sua fase conclusiva. Il progetto è stato realizzato dal Dipartimento di Studi Urbani dell’università di Roma Tre, dall’Archivio di Stato di Roma, dalla Sovrintendenza Capitolina e dall’Archivio Capitolino e l’attività di ricerca ha permesso di ricostruire l'immagine urbana ed archeologica della Roma preunitaria e post-unitaria. Le mappe del Catasto Gregoriano e i relativi brogliardi costituiscono la base del Sistema Informativo Geografico (GIS) al quale sono stati collegati altri documenti cartografici e documentali: la pianta di Roma di G.B. Nolli del 1748; un consistente numero di schede relative a documenti di archivio in materia di architettura urbana e archeologia; documenti iconografici sulla architettura della città storica. Il progetto intende conseguire un duplice obiettivo: realizzare un sistema informativo geografico in grado di contenere, gestire e divulgare i dati sulla città storica provenienti da fonti diverse; creare uno strumento web a carattere partecipativo e didattico destinato ad un’ampia platea di utenti e non solo a ricercatori e studiosi del settore. La piattaforma web e la banca dati geografica sono state integralmente realizzate con prodotti e software Open Source. The digitization of the Gregorian Urban Cadastre of Rome (Catasto Gregoriano Urbano di Roma) has started about ten years ago thanks to the funding by the Cariplo Foundation, and it is now in its final stage. The project has been implemented by the Department of Urban Studies of the “Roma Tre” University, the Archivio di Stato di Roma, the Sovrintendenza Capitolina and the Archivio Capitolino. The research has allowed to reconstruct the archaeological and urban image of Rome in the pre- and post-unification periods. The maps and registers of the Gregorian Cadastre represent the basis of the Geographic Information System (GIS), which has been linked to maps and documents from other sources: the 1748 map of Rome by G. B. Nolli, a substantial number of datasheets from archive documents related to buildings and archeology, other iconographic documents concerning the architecture of the old town. The project has a dual purpose: on the one hand, the implementation of a GIS able to store, manage and disseminate data about the historic city from different sources; on the other, the activation of a participatory and educational web tool open to a wide audience, not only to researchers and scholars of this particular field. The web platform and the geographic database have been fully implemented with Open Source products and software.
