La administración señorial es un tema inmenso, muy poco tratado en la historiografía italiana y que, por tanto, no ha sido objeto aún de una reconstrucción de conjunto. El texto proporciona, pues, una visión provisional al respecto y, al mismo tiempo, una posible metodología de análisis, dado que las visiones de síntesis y las propuestas metodológicas son las contribuciones más útiles para la perspectiva comparativa.

Resumo: As crônicas medievais foram produzidas no seio de suas cidades e, tanto em seu caráter laico quanto eclesiástico, compreendem dimensões educativas e políticas. A tradição cronística é um fenômeno importante na construção da ideologia e da organização política das comunas italianas durante o século XIII. Tendo isso em vista, este artigo é composto de três momentos que se entrecruzam: 1) o traçado de uma perspectiva do fazer cronístico citadino e mendicante, buscando entender o seu papel e importância nas cidades, para assim intentar inserir a Crônica de Salimbene de Parma – escrita entre os anos 1229-1268, e que possuiu um tecido textual no qual encontramos traços de diferentes gêneros narrativos – nesse contexto de produção; 2) um panorama do advento das signorie nas cidades, essas formas de governo surgidas em meados do século XIII e que trouxeram uma nova configuração para a dinâmica política e institucional do sistema comunal; 3) a análise de alguns relatos de Salimbene acerca de governos que observa. Tudo isso se dará no esforço de melhor entender o que o minorita apreciava ou condenava nos governos das signorie, buscando assim uma compreensão e percepção de outras nuances do período para além do “despotismo” e da “tirania”.

Abstract This article uses historical scholarship on Guido da Montefeltro and medieval Romagna (Franceschini and Vasina) alongside Ovid’s Metamorphosis and the Serventese del 1277 to contextualize the question asked by the soul of Guido (about peace or war in Romagna) and the catalog of tyrants provided by the pilgrim in Inferno 27. It examines how Dante held Guido accountable for the intensification of warfare in Romagna and made an argument for the responsibility of military strategists in the consolidation of urban signorie. Dante’s assessment coincides with current historiography and shows his concerns about the formation of regional states. A recontextualization of Guido’s question reveals the targeted nature of the pilgrim’s response, in which the pilgrim presents Guido with the triumph of his enemies.

Nell’articolo si tratta l’analisi delle tecniche murarie desunta da dati provenienti da ampi progetti di indagine archeologica svolti in ambito rurale nella Toscana occidentale dalla metà degli anni Novanta dello scorso secolo ad oggi. Nel testo si esaminano i cambiamenti dei modi di edificare a partire dall’edilizia in legno dei primi abitati di altura di VII-VIII secolo, sino agli insediamenti più strutturati di seconda metà VIII e IX secolo, caratterizzati da un primo uso della pietra e dalla presenza di maestranze specializzate. In seguito si analizza la più complessa organizzazione del cantiere propria della costruzione dei castelli di XI e XII secolo in rapporto ai poteri politici ed economici delle nascenti signorie territoriali. Un differente uso delle tecniche costruttive caratterizza la successiva formazione di nuovi borghi tra XIII e XIV secolo, spesso impiantati sui preesistenti castelli, legati ai locali organismi comunali, soggetti all’influenza politica ed economica di Pisa in questo territorio.

In questo saggio si propongono i risultati di un’analisi della presenza di usi linguistici sessisti all’interno della manualistica scolastica riferita all’insegnamento dell’italiano come L2, sulla base di un campione rappresentativo di libri di testo. In particolare, è stato creato un corpus relativo a un campione di 50 libri di testo di italiano L2, selezionati con una data di pubblicazione successiva al 2015, in modo da valutare le soluzioni linguistiche più recenti. Il corpus è stato interrogato in merito alla collocazione sintattica di alcuni lessemi (“mamma”, “papà”, “signore”, “signora”) e ambiti di vita (il lavoro, le professioni e la casa) selezionati sulla base dell’impiego potenzialmente sessista (Nitti, 2020).

Isabella di Castiglia ricevette pro Camera delle città della Sicilia orientale, su cui ostentò la piena giurisdizione. Questi territori, mai visitati dalla loro signora, furono sede di una complessa macchina istituzionale e amministrativa che si impiantò su scala locale in stretta connessione con la curia centrale. La creazione di una corte a Siracusa e le manifestazioni di potere dei palazzi e dei castelli dove risiedevano i più alti ufficiali della signoria erano infatti i modi in cui si materializzava e si rendeva visibile il suo dominio nel patrimonio di sua pertinenza. In questo studio, si esaminano gli spazi in cui si muovevano questi funzionari e le cure prestate dalla sovrana a queste strutture.

La formazione religiosa è un processo che comprende il tempo dal momento in cui una persona pensa seriamente a intraprendere la vita di consacrazione al Signore, fino all’incontro definitivo con Lui nella morte. Tale processo viene diviso fondamentalmente in quattro tappe: il prenoviziato, il noviziato, la formazione dei professi di voti temporanei e la formazione continua. I quattro capitoli, dedicati alle signole tappe, analizzano brevemente le questioni principali, indicate dalle Direttive sulla formazione negli Istituti religiosi. L’esame del Documento del Magistero della Chiesa, fatto sotto l’aspetto indicato dal titolo dell’articolo, fa vedere, tra l’altro, la dinamicità della formazione religiosa, preoccupata di tutta la persona, che offre al religioso la possibilità di portarlo all’unità di vita.

During the mid-1560s, Paolo Paruta (1540-1598), future Ambassador of the Republic of Venice in Rome (1591-1595) and author of the three books of Perfettione della Vita Politica (Venice, 1579) wrote some poems: the canzone Donna, che fosti tra le donne un Sole, and three somnets. The former was then published in Dionigi Atanagi’s Rime di diversi nobilissimi et eccellentissimi autori, in morte della Signora Irene delle Signore di Spilimbergo (Venice, 1561), the latters were insert in Diomede Borghesi’s anthology for Cinzia Braccioduro Garzadori (then published in Padua, 1567, without Paruta’s somnets). Writing those juvenile poems and making them circulate among the Venetian literary circles (such as Domenico Venier’s), Paruta was looking not only for artistic approval, but also for social visibility: the canzone and the somnets were part of his wider strategy for social climbing inside Venetian patrician ruling class.

ABSTRACTThe present research was carried out in Catania, a town of 600,000 inhabitants on the eastern coast of Sicily, and was motivated by the observation of cases of nonreciprocity of address to female teachers in secondary schools. While male teachers were always addressed with their academic, professional titles, which have great, overt prestige in southern Italy, women, on the contrary, were often addressed as signora or signorina ‘Mrs./Miss’ in the vocative form. The main objectives of the research were to find out (a) which schools were involved in this case of nonreciprocity; (b) how many female teachers considered it a sign of respect or an act of discrimination; (c) if the linguistic imbalance reflected a social one; and (d) what were its psychological causes. The article attempts to consider the actions of two communal systems of power — foreign officials: the Podestà, the Captain of the People and the Executor of the Institutions of Justice, as well as communal structures formed in 1293 — the Signoria as part of the Priory, headed by the Honfalonier of Justice and the colleges of 12 good husbands and 16 gonfaloniers of companies, in a difficult period of changing political regimes in the second half of the 14th century. The main problem of the research is the practice of the application of law and power in the context of a relatively wide communal democracy, multi-power and frequent turnover of the Signoria (every 2 months). Before each composition of the Signoria, there was a temptation at critical moments not to apply legal norms, especially in the sphere of punitive jurisdiction, and not to use powers of authority to punish and suppress their fellow citizens. In this regard, the members of the Signoria especially needed foreign officials, whose importance increase d in crisis situations, which gave rise to dictatorial inclinations and abuse of power by the Podestà and the Captains of the People

Résumé :

L'articolo presenta lo studio del timore del Signore nel libro del Siracide a partire da Sir 1 che riveste un valore programmatico nell'opera sapienziale. Il contributo presenta quattro diverse prospettive rilevate in Sir 1, secondo le quali Ben Sira presenta ai discepoli il timore del Signore. Le quattro prospettive ricorrono anche in altri passi del libro (Sir 2–51). A queste viene aggiunta in seguito una quinta, quella storica, presente solo in un testo dell'Elogio dei padri. Il contributo si sofferma ad analizzare in particolare l'aspetto simbolico e metaforico del linguaggio usato da Ben Sira per avvicinare al discepolo il timore del Signore nei suoi aspetti di bontà, bellezza, gioia e nel suo dinamismo che guida l'uomo sui sentieri dell'amore.

The recent article by Carrubba, Yuen, and Zorn (2007) (CYZ) attempts to relate the strategic random utility models in Signorino (1999, 2002, 2003) and in Signorino and Yilmaz (2003) to existing game theory practice and to existing statistical techniques. It contributes to this literature by reminding us that comparative statics analysis can be applied to the equilibria of these models. There are a number of claims in CYZ, however, that require clarification. In particular, the article's primary claim is that comparative statics analysis, in combination with one of three proposed statistical estimators, provides a simpler alternative to methods previously advocated. This claim (or combination of claims) is incorrect. When one examines the procedure CYZ recommends, it is no simpler for substantive researchers than anything previously recommended. Moreover, none of the proposed estimators are new: they are exactly the same methods introduced in Signorino (1999, 2003), in Signorino and Yilmaz (2003), in Signorino, Walker, and Bas (2002), and in Bas, Signorino, and Walker (2007).

Eight species collected in the upper Volga Area are listed. Six species, Orthezia urticae (Linnaeus), Trionymus perrisii (Signoret), Acanthococcus baldonensis Rasina, Greenisca brachypodii Borchsenius & Danzig, Eriopeltis lichtensteini Signoret, and Chionaspis salicis (Linnaeus) are recorded from the Volga Area for the first time. Variability of Trionymus perrisii (Signoret) is discussed and illustrated.

AbstractL’un des personnages les plus mémorables du Chevalier au lion de Chrétien de Troyes est le paysan qu’on rencontre dans la forêt de Brocéliande, juste avant d’atteindre la source merveilleuse. Dans certains manuscrits il apparaît comme le gardien des taureaux, des ours et des léopards qui se battent devant lui. Des associations similaires d’animaux ne devaient pas surprendre les hommes du Moyen Âge, qui étaient familiers des histoires dans lesquelles coexistaient des animaux sauvages de différentes régions géographiques. Le passage correspondant du Mabinogi de Owein, texte gallois qui suit le même récit que le roman de Chrétien, énumère cerfs, lions, serpents, et «toutes sortes d’animaux». Il est donc probable que la source commune aux deux romans citait plusieurs bêtes sauvages. L’archétype de ces personnages est probablement le légendaire «seigneur des animaux», divinité qui dans les cultures des chasseurs de la préhistoire présidait à la reproduction et à la distribution du gibier et qui a subi plusieures métamorphoses dans les contes hagiographiques de différents saints et dans d’autres textes de la littérature française médiévale. L’association d’animaux disparates constitue donc un canevas narratif traditionnel et le passage de Chrétien de Troyes se réfère à ce substrat mythique.

Il decennio intercorso tra la pubblicazione della novella Il Signore della Nave (1916) e la trionfale messa in scena della Sagra del Signore della Nave (1925) — opera con la quale si inaugurò l'attività di Pirandello capocomico — individua un contesto cronologico ed evolutivo dell'arte pirandelliana, decisivo e culminante, che vede da un lato il progressivo ridursi della produzione novellistica e dall'altro si volge alla elaborazione degli atti unici. A partire dalla constatazione che nulla o quasi della novella viene tralasciato nell'adattamento teatrale e mediante l'esame delle differenze strutturali — nonché dei mutamenti più o meno significativi riguardanti lo sviluppo della parte argomentativa— si evidenzia il particolare rapporto dialettico che lega le due opere: quasi spazio in cui il rincorrersi e il nascondersi a vicenda, ma anche il coincidere, di «corpo» e «ombra» vengono mostrati in atto.

Brochosomes production is considered a feature of Cicadellidae, and may represent an outstanding innovation which has played an important role in the development and diversification of this insect group. The objective of this study was to identify the species of Proconiini that produced egg brochosomes associated with grapevines in the Serra Gaúcha region of Brazil. Egg brochosome characteristics and an identification key are also discussed. The specimens were collected using yellow sticky cards in four vineyards (Vitis vinifera L.) from October 2004 to May 2006. Eight species capable of producing egg brochosomes were identified:Acrogonia citrina Marucci & Cavichioli; Homalodisca ignorata Melichar; Molomea consolida Schröder; Molomea lineiceps Young; Molomea personata (Signoret); Oncometopia facialis (Signoret); Oncometopia fusca Melichar; and Tapajosa rubromarginata (Signoret). Egg brochosomes are useful structures to identify Proconiini species in vine.

Beginning in 1999, Curtis Signorino challenged the use of traditional logits and probits analysis for testing discrete-choice, strategic models. Signorino argues that the complex parametric relationships generated by even the simplest strategic models can lead to wildly inaccurate inferences if one applies these traditional approaches. In their stead, Signorino proposes generating stochastic formal models, from which one can directly derive a maximum likelihood estimator. We propose a simpler, alternative methodology for theoretically and empirically accounting for strategic behavior. In particular, we propose carefully and correctly deriving one's comparative statics from one's formal model, whether it is stochastic or deterministic does not particularly matter, and using standard logit or probit estimation techniques to test the predictions. We demonstrate that this approach performs almost identically to Signorino's more complex suggestion.

Two new species of Dilobopterus Signoret, 1850 are described from the Atlantic Rainforest of Rio de Janeiro State, Southeastern Brazil, based on specimens collected in Angra dos Reis (D. nelsoni sp. nov.) and Itatiaia (D. sakakibara sp. nov.). Holotypes are deposited in Museu Nacional, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. These are the first species of the genus described after the publication in 1977 of the last comprehensive monograph on the New World Cicadellini. We also describe the previously unknown male of D. segmentalis (Signoret, 1853) based on specimens from the Atlantic Rainforest of Espírito Santo State, Southeastern Brazil (municipality of Santa Teresa). We propose a group of species within Dilobopterus (trinotatus group) based on features of the paraphyses of D. trinotatus (Signoret, 1853), D. segmentalis, and D. sakakibara sp. nov..
