Texte intégralBetween the Thirteenth and the Sixteenth Century, the apparition of public brothels -whose function was to regulate venal sex- transformed deeply the landscape of prostitution in the Midi toulousain. The institutionalization of prostitution was contemporary with a period of urban development and with the reintroduction of the political model of the consulate for the specific case of the Midi toulousain. The way in which prostitution was organized—whether it was an institutional activity or whether it circumvented the control of lay as well as Church authorities—offers us a global picture of society of the late Middle Ages. This issue of prostitution will lead us to consider the regulating actions taken by the political powers. We will also analyze the spatial repartition of prostitution, both in the cities and in the countryside. This study will also assess the multi-faceted parts played by the various actors of the world of prostitution

Texte intégralPornography is part of the landscape of our society. Starting in the 1970s, a process of massification has gradually led pornography to become a huge cultural industry, raising questions about the discourse of which it is the subject (production professionals, journalists, laymen, politicians etc.). Pornography is a social and cultural object with economic, political and aesthetic relevance and consequently seems to have gained legitimacy even within scientific research over the last decade. Established as a trend of thought on one hand (referred to in the English-speaking world as Porn Studies) and a research subfield on the other (lesbian pornography etc.), this "new" research field could certainly follow on from Gender and Sexuality Studies. This doctoral thesis proposes to clarify the process by which a marginal object is transformed into an object that fits into the academic system. The work aims to reconstitute the historical context in which the various French research projects relating to pornography emerged. The development of this historical map will allow us to explore the core of Pornography Studies in France and how they were constituted on one hand, and to describe the specific communicational aspects of knowledge construction, transformation and transmission on the other. These processes appear both in the possible relations between different scientific fields and in the flow of knowledge specific to the science that is in the making. This research could also make a heuristic contribution to studies that have already been carried out since the 1980s in Sociology or History of Science about the emergence of new disciplines and new research fields and topics

Three factors are involved: the common origin of mediterranean societies, the feodalism of the iranian society and the iranian appropriation of the islamic discourse
Soler, Diego. « Au nom de Faust. . . Le secret dans la société contemporaine : du voyage sociologique au voyage initiatique ». Montpellier 3, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009MON30054.
Texte intégralAt all times, Man seems to have resigned himself to perform the course of his existence under the influence or even the tutelage of secrecy. Our contemporary society does not infringe upon this rule. Very often, Man appears "loaded" with a secret which inevitably he will not try to discard. Quite the contrary. Secrets seem to show themselves under a protective form with a synchronising function among members of a group. A secret becomes an illusion and renders achievable the modification of a sad or maladjusted reality. It is where the sacred meets the imagination and sometimes even the proscription. A secret, a polysemous and polymorphous object, varies in its sense, its functions, and its forms according to the environment in which it is confronted. This research is presented and is experienced as a voyage, an exploration passing through the abysses of three parallel worlds, those of adultery, illness and freemasonry. To experience such an expedition in such abounding and heterogeneous fields requires the accompaniment of a guide. The companion chosen is the character of the Faust legend. With the help of this guide we have been able to travel into the depths and discover secrecy itself, carrying with us in our luggage, symbolism and imagination…Throughout our voyages, secrecy has become a myth-like narrative entity, drawing its strength from this ability to exist through shadows and opposites, providing us simultaneously with a poisonous charm, potency, power and magic
