Résumé :

In order to investigate the effects of corner set-backs on wind loads and wind-induced responses of rectangular high-rise buildings, pressure measurements were carried out on a benchmark model (CARRC) and four models with different rates (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) of corner set-backs in a boundary layer wind tunnel. The test results show that the corner set-backs contribute to reducing along-wind loads of the rectangular high-rise building models, and the maximum reduction happens at 10% corner set-back. The across-wind loads decrease as the rate of corner set-back is increasing and the maximum reduction emerges at 20% corner set-back. The RMS accelerations at the top of models also decrease with the increasing of rate of corner set-back in along-wind and across-wind. Through the fitting of test results, empirical formulas for the correlation factors of base moment coefficients of rectangular high-rise buildings with different rates of corner set-back are put forward. Moreover, the correlation factors for the power spectrum densities of base moments are listed at typical frequencies corresponding to the practical tall buildings. The outputs of this paper aim to serve as references for wind-resistant design of similar buildings in strong wind region.

After some 13 years of pale-faced exile in England I returned with some excitement to Australia, eager to share in its psychiatric development and perhaps to benefit a little from the fruits of what appears as the international rapacity of Murdoch, Holmes a Court, Elders IXL et al. The second more furtive wish suffered early set-backs as I discovered that the Australian economy was dipping alarmingly and that the Australian dollar, once to my mind as solid as Ayer's Rock, was sinking rather than floating against other currencies. This has meant cut-backs in government expenditure, health included, threatening my first wish as well.

Talent selection programmes choose athletes for talent development pathways. Currently, the set of psychosocial variables that determine talent selection in youth Rugby Union are unknown, with the literature almost exclusively focusing on physiological variables. The purpose of this study was to use a novel machine learning approach to identify the physiological and psychosocial models that predict selection to a regional age-grade rugby union team. Age-grade club rugby players (n = 104; age, 15.47 ± 0.80; U16, n = 62; U18, n = 42) were assessed for physiological and psychosocial factors during regional talent selection days. Predictive models (selected vs. non-selected) were created for forwards, backs, and across all players using Bayesian machine learning. The generated physiological models correctly classified 67.55% of all players, 70.09% of forwards, and 62.50% of backs. Greater hand-grip strength, faster 10 m and 40 m sprint, and power were common features for selection. The generated psychosocial models correctly classified 62.26% of all players, 73.66% of forwards, and 60.42% of backs. Reduced burnout, reduced emotional exhaustion, and lower reduced sense of accomplishment, were common features for selection. Selection appears to be predominantly based on greater strength, speed, and power, as well as lower athlete burnout.

The purpose of this study is to highlight the evolution of the explosive strength in the 4-year interval of the backs compartment and the level of adaptation to the game requirements. The hypothesis in this study is that the explosive strength of the lower limbs in rugby backs developed during the past 4 years, trying to keep up with the higher needs in the first Romanian league. Explosive power was measured using the ‘Just Jump System’, which is a plyometric test mat on which the players conducted a set of three tests: squat jump, control movement jump and free jump. The forwards significantly improved their explosive strength in a 4-year period. Although the total body mass got bigger, the players managed to improve their lower limbs’ explosive strength; this fact proves a good physical adaptation to the requirements of the rugby game. In a country that struggles on safety standards and relying heavily on manual labour, Malaysia over the decade had to be very objective in defining work- relatedness among musculoskeletal disorder cases especially chronic low back pain. The BACKS questionnaire was a proposed Back Apparatus; a Collaboration between National University of Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) with Malaysian Social Security Organization (SOCSO) to assist in determining occupational chronic back pain. In the questionnaire, chronic back pain was defined as minimal cumulative back pain for more than 2 weeks in the past year, Pain Visual Analog Score above 2 cm and Oswestry Disability Index of above 20%. Based on the SOCSO registry from 2008 to 2010, 428 (56.3%) workers of 760 workers with back pain agreed and met the requirements of our study. According to the standards of the Medical Board, the BACKS Tool reported a sensitivity of 62.7%, specificity of 94.5%, positive- predictive value (PPV) of 92.9% and negative- predictive value (NPV) of 69.0% with moderate agreement as Kappa value was 0.56. The BACKS Tool served as a complementary assessment along with visits to the workplace that has its advantages when one would to conduct a self- administered assessment of their workplace by safety and health officers, organizations with limited funding.

Résumé :

We construct a cohomology theory using quasi-smooth derived schemes as generators and an analog of the bordism relation using derived fiber products as relations. This theory has pull-backs along all morphisms between smooth schemes independent of any characteristic assumptions. We prove that, in characteristic zero, the resulting theory agrees with algebraic cobordism as defined by Levine and Morel. We thus obtain a new set of generators and relations for algebraic cobordism.

Partially observable Markov decision processes (POMDPs) form an attractive and principled framework for agent planning under uncertainty. Point-based approximate techniques for POMDPs compute a policy based on a finite set of points collected in advance from the agent's belief space. We present a randomized point-based value iteration algorithm called Perseus. The algorithm performs approximate value backup stages, ensuring that in each backup stage the value of each point in the belief set is improved; the key observation is that a single backup may improve the value of many belief points. Contrary to other point-based methods, Perseus backs up only a (randomly selected) subset of points in the belief set, sufficient for improving the value of each belief point in the set. We show how the same idea can be extended to dealing with continuous action spaces. Experimental results show the potential of Perseus in large scale POMDP problems.

Big Blue Backpacks (BBB) is a student led orginization at Millikin University. BBB provides weekend meals to elementary students in Decatur, IL, who are facing food insecurity. In this essay we reflect on the struggles and set backs of continuing our efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. We found that community ties were vital to the success of Big Blue Backpacks. BBB perservered and was able to adapt to unforseen circumstances of the pandemic. Here we share what helped BBB become sustainable, in hopes that it will be helpful to other students who are involved in community service projects.

Résumé :

A set of wooden figures representing female deities with painted fronts and flat backs was identified in the archaeological material coming from recent excavations in the Chapel of Hatshepsut. The fragments were scattered through the shafts of Third Intermediate Period date. Most probably they had once formed a single piece of funerary equipment from one of the burials. Remains of nine figures were distinguished. These were divided into two groups by size. The smallscale figures had outstretched arms, while the big-scale ones were shown with one arm raised and the other lowered alongside the body. They are presumed to have been attached to a flat wooden background. Both iconographical types are attested in the decoration of mortuary equipment from the New Kingdom on, though no object decorated with the same set of goddesses has been found so far.

Angiogenesis, sprouting of new blood vessels from pre-existing vasculatures, plays a critical role in regulating tumor growth. Binding interactions between integrin, a heterodimeric transmembrane glycoprotein receptor, and its extracellular matrix (ECM) protein ligands govern the angiogenic potential of tumor endothelial cells. Integrin receptors are attractive targets in cancer therapy due to their overexpression on tumor endothelial cells, but not on quiescent blood vessels. These receptors are finding increasing applications in anti-angiogenic therapy via targeted delivery of chemotherapeutic drugs and nucleic acids to tumor vasculatures. The current article attempts to provide a retrospective account of the past developments, highlight important contemporary contributions and unresolved set-backs of this emerging field.

In the course of the survey of the surface remains of the North Lycian city of Balboura, our attention was drawn to three small buildings near the southwest corner of the agora (Fig. 1), because their association with a series of inscriptions casts an interesting light on the society of the city. Most of these inscriptions have long been known, although three are unpublished, but their significance cannot be fully appreciated without some knowledge of the buildings and statue bases with which they are associated. Our aim, therefore, is to consider the architectural and epigraphic evidence together.The buildings concerned (Figs. 2–4) are, from west to east, an exedra set up by Onesimos the city slave (demosios), with statues of the Demos and Boule of Balboura; a temple of Nemesis, also built by Onesimos; and a second exedra, set up by the wealthy Meleager, son of Castor. All three buildings face southward onto a paved street, and turn their backs to the agora, which was set at a lower level to the north.

The Afghan authorities and the international community have worked together to rebuild the justice sector into something which now at least approximates to a system that conforms to international standards. This article argues that while the process has been fraught there have been tangible advances and some verifiable ways to measure this. Capacity-building support of the state system will require continuing external monitoring, to gauge its impact, and the state system also has an important role in monitoring the way in which customary law institutions dispense justice. This article concludes that, despite many set-backs and uncertainties, now is not the time for the international community to turn its back on justice sector reform in Afghanistan.

This research features interviews with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Chief Scientific Officers (CSOs) and Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of many of the most successful life science firms in the USA with the goal of to capturing their thoughts on the recruitment of new hires. The executives screened candidates for emotional commitment as an essential quality to complete the long process of bench science, regulatory clearance and product positioning in the market. They sought to hire experienced team members who thought of set-backs as problems to be solved on the way to providing life-altering options for patients. These C-suite leaders needed to create a productive workplace culture, enhanced by a diverse group of professionals with a variety of experiences and temperaments. Participants noted that shared vision and resilience played a greater role in predicting performance than any particular skill-set discernible from a resume.

This article shows how the Portuguese tax reform of 1988 set up a non-neutral system for the taxation of dividends and capital gains. Capital gains had a much more generous treatment. The consequences of this lack of neutrality were immediately felt in two areas, with share buy-backs and the changing of legal status of firms coming to the forefront of individual tax planning. The system then enacted discriminated between holding periods for the same equity holders and also between gains realized by the sale of different types of equity instruments. In 2010, faced with a desperate public finance situation, the government finally changed the taxation of capital gains, making it similar to the one applied to dividends. This modification eliminated some important tax loopholes and made the tax system fairer and more efficient.

The economic role of the state is controversial, even after the collapse of communism and the election of New Labour. The demand that governments get off the backs of wealth-creators has barely diminished since the 1980s; but some still urge control of private and corporate greed in the public interest. There is no sign of such controversy in Greek antiquity; but I shall suggest that the practice of the cities depended on political considerations which reveal comparable principles. All governments, whatever their complexion, now accept some responsibility for general economic well–being, even if their actions may amount to little more than a claim that prosperity will ‘trickle down’ from top to bottom. Numerous functions which would now be identified as economic were performed by Greek cities; after brief preliminaries to set the economic scene, I shall explore them, and try to determine why they were undertaken.

Aim. This study aimed to investigate PlayerLoad and heart rate responses of handball-based small-sided games which specifically designed with additional field player rule. Materials and Methods. Thirteen well-trained female handball players (2 goalkeepers, 2 pivots, 4 wings, and 5 backs) participated in this study. A total of eight Small-sided games (SSGs) on two different training days with separated at least 48-hour were conducted. SSGs executed with the inclusion of two each 5 vs 6 and 7 vs 6 handball specific games that mimic the numerical inferior or superior situations in game-play. PlayerLoad, acceleration, deceleration and change of direction were established by a wearable IMUs and heart rate monitored with a chest band. Results. There was no significant difference between PlayerLoadtotal, PlayerLoadmin-1, HRmax, HRavr, and HIE parameters during the SSGs that separated by two testing days. No significant differences were found in PlayerLoadtotal, PlayerLoadmin-1, HRmax, and HRavr, parameters attained from the main and opponent team. Results showed no significant differences between all 5 vs 6 and 7 vs 6 SSGs. There was a significantly lower PlayerLoadtotal in the goalkeepers than backs, wings and pivots. The mean and maximum heart rate of back players was significantly lower than wings and pivots. Conclusion. Current study set out the examiner that if tactical innovations in playing situations numerical inferiority or superiority situations 7vs6 and 5vs6, will make the difference in players’ physical efforts. Because of the raised usage of this tactical variations, recent studies only focused to technical variables of playing with no goalkeeper and additional field player. Therefore, it is crucial to obtain clear knowledge how to affect the players as physically. Hence, a definite need for revision of the training demands of the goalkeepers in handball.

AbstractStatistical analysis of defensive players in football has lagged behind that of offensive players, special teams, and coaching decisions, largely because data on individual defensive players has historically been lacking. With the introduction of player tracking data from the NFL, researchers can now tackle these problems. However, event and strategy annotations in the NFL’s tracking data are limited, especially when it comes to describing what defensive players do on each play. Moreover, methods for creating these annotations typically require extensive human labeling, which is difficult and expensive. Because of the importance of the passing game and the limited prior research on the defensive side of passing, we provide annotations for the pass coverage types of cornerbacks using unsupervised learning techniques, which require no training data. We define a set of features from the tracking data that distinguish between “man” and “zone” coverage. We use mixture models to create clusters corresponding to each group, allowing us to provide probabilistic assignments to each coverage type (or cluster). Additionally, we quantify each feature’s influence in distinguishing defensive pass coverage types. Our work makes possible several potential avenues of future NFL research into defensive backs and pass coverage strategies.

HR practices are the foremost imperative tools of any organization to fulfill larger part of organizational objectives through way better work execution of representatives working within organization. The show consider was outlined to think about the nature and design of the relationship between HR practices (Recompense, Execution Assessment prepare and advancement) and work execution of workers in industrial set up. The primary objective of study is to establish a relationship between human resource practices on organizational loyalty. The data of 330 employees from the selected diverse industries were collected. The findings indicate a correlation between Performance Appraisal (HR practices) and organizational loyalty. The increased employee loyalty will boost organizational effectiveness through the retention of competent and experienced personnel, hence minimizing turnover intentions. As such, this study backs to body of information regarding impact of the human resource management on organizational loyalty. The data results might be used as a reference or guideline for future researchers.

Presently, thirty five species of ungulates occur in northern China. Some species are threatened or endangered. There are three species of Equidae (E. przewalskii, E. hemionus, E. kiang), one of Suidae (Sus scrofa), one of Camelidae (Camelus bactrianus), 14 species of Cervidae (with the genera Moschus, Elaphus, Cervus, Elaphurus, Alces, Rangifer, Capreolus) and 16 species of Bovidae (within the genera Bos, Gazella, Procapra, Pantholops, Saiga, Nemorhaedus, Capricornis, Budorcas, Capra, Pseudois, Ovis). They inhabit different biotopes, i.e. temperate mountain forest and steppe, temperate desert and semi-desert, and vast alpine ranges. Ungulate fossils are widespread in China evidencing that Asia was an evolutionary centre for some ungulates. Although new data have been gathered through research efforts in China since 1949 it is a fact that some ungulate species have suffered serious population set-backs and some have become endangered or even extinct. Detailed studies of ungulate populations and protection of habitats are now most important future research needs.

The emphasis on the understanding of contemporary geomorphic processes that has dominated Anglophone geomorphological literature over the past 50 years has seen huge progress but also some set-backs. We now have reliable measurements of mean rates of operation of all subaerial processes responsible for modification of landforms and landscapes and have made good progress in estimating the role of human activities as compared with “natural” processes. Some limited progress has been achieved in understanding the scale problem but problems remain. Perhaps the single most surprising development has been the recognition of the ubiquity of disconnectivity in geomorphic systems, the need to calculate virtual velocities of whole geomorphic systems and the relevance of this understanding to the general spatio-temporal scale problem. We have always known that most geomorphic processes operate intermittently but we have continued to depend on models that imply that mass and energy move freely through geomorphic systems and that conservation of mass and energy occurrs uninterruptedly at all temporal and spatial scales.

The aim of this work is to build software which enables us to set up an active smart materials data base especially the piezoelectric ones. This is done using two approaches: firstly, by mean of literature, allow the different characteristics we select piezoelectric materials. The second approach consists of selecting the appropriate material according to its usage either as a sensor or as an actuator. The purpose is to provide users an easier way to combine use versus characteristics in an automatic manner. Therefore according to a given application we can overcome the selection difficulties by knowing much more about the materials through their integrated functions when actuating as sensors or actuators. This tool remains also based on an open chart that will permit to the user or developer to update it in concordance with future knowledge of material developments. This work presents the developed software (called ExTooPIEZ’s), its main features and first feed backs gained after first usage.

The principle of fairness, defended by Rawls in A Theory of Justice and widely discussed subsequently, is sometimes invoked in various areas of applied ethics, such as environmental ethics, social ethics, etc.As it stands, the principle of fairness offers an account of a particular type of moral obligation that obtains if certain conditions are satisfied. For example, the good produced must be a particular type of good, the scheme in which it is produced must itself be fair, and so on. This account inspired a wave of discussions, which set the tone for the debate on the principle of fairness, about two decades ago.

This article reviews Australia’s experience with adaptation law. While climate change is likely to implicate a number of regulatory domains, most adaptation reform has been in the field of spatial and land use planning. These reforms have been influenced by the institutional, political and fiscal context for spatial planning. Traditional planning tools such as zoning, set-backs, and building standards have been modified to address the exacerbating effects of climate change. A preference for market-based autonomous adaptation has seen increased interest in information instruments and limited experimentation with conditional approvals. Three themes characterise Australia’s brief history of adaptation and are likely to affect its development: the need for trade-offs between competing interests; the relationship between law-making and climate science; and the complexity and fragmentation of roles and responsibilities for adaptation. These challenges have pervaded environmental law for decades. The adaptation imperative is an important opportunity to rethink and reframe their resolution.

In this study, a formula called the Golden Index was developed that calculates a value for each player according to their individual and collective performances. This method identifies the most important players, designated as Golden Players, in football attacking plays. This study was organized in two main phases: (1) selection, definition and validation, including weighting assignment, of a set of variables associated with players’ performance through application of statistical techniques to uniformize variables values that compose the Golden Index formula and (2) applicability of the Golden Index formula to quantify players’ performance of Club Atlético de Madrid over 2016-2017 season. A questionnaire was given to football experts in order to validate and determine the weight of each of the 12 variables selected. Descriptive statistics with standardization techniques were used to set the weights and uniformize each variable of the Golden Index formula. Applying the Golden Index formula to Club Atlético de Madrid 2016-2017 season named Koke, Yannick Carrasco and Filipe Luís as the Golden Players, while the centre-backs Lucas Hernández, Stefan Savić and Diego Godín and striker Fernando Torres received negative indexes. Results suggested that the Golden Index formula is a valuable and useful tool in capturing the individual and collective performance of players in attacking play in football.

Background: Hairdressers are a group of professionals whose working ability and health status could be affected by specific work-related activities as their nature of the job involves to work with their backs bent forwards or twisted for washing hair at the sink. Repetitive tasks, static postures and long periods of standing have been observed during all client-related activities. To understand the impact of working conditions on work related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in this occupational group, it is necessary to assess the prevalence of these risk factors among hair dressers in urban set-up. Aims and objectives: To find out the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among hair dressers in urban set-up using brief pain inventory scale. Method: 280 hairdressers between age group of 25-35 years were recruited from hair salons based in metropolitan city of Mumbai after taking permissions from respective salon. All subjects were selected as per inclusion and exclusion criteria. A written consent was obtained and participants were explained about the procedure of the study in details. The outcome was interviewed using brief pain inventory a short and self-administered questionnaire. Result and conclusion: The study concluded that the prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorder was majorly seen at lower back (81%) followed by shoulder (53%) and lastly the calf (45%). The gracilis tendon is a commonly used autologous tendon graft in orthopedic surgery (e.g. anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) or chronic acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) reconstruction) but also for example in anal incontinence surgery for formation of a neosphincter. In previous studies the effects of gracilis tendon harvest were analyzed after ACL rupture, its reconstruction and rehabilitation. However, all of these three incidents influence the outcome. Thus, the purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effect of isolated gracilis tendon harvest from uninjured knees on knee kinematics during daily activities. Patients between 18 to 60 years with harvest of their gracilis tendon for reconstruction of the ACJ were included. Exclusion criteria were previous surgeries or injuries of their knees. Knee kinematics were evaluated during gait analysis using an infrared optical motion capture system with 10 cameras (T20 S cameras, Vicon, Oxford, United Kingdom) and reflective skin markers. A set of 59 markers was attached on anatomical landmarks of the patients’ lower extremities, pelvis, spine and shoulders with double-sided tape. The position of these markers was tracked at 120 Hz during the trials. Daily activities such as walking and running were performed. Additionally, kick-backs were performed to analyze maximal active knee flexion an important function of gracilis muscle. To quantify the tibiofemoral motion and reduce soft tissue artifacts, the OSSCA (OCST, SARA, and SCoRE combined approach) technique was used. (Boeth 2013) The D’Agostino&Pearson Test was used to test for a Gaussian distribution. For parametric data the dependent t-test, otherwise the Wilcoxon test was used. Sixteen patients were evaluated. However, four had to be excluded after MRIs showed an accidental harvest of the semitendinosus tendon. The mean age was 43 years [standard deviation (SD) 13 years] and time to follow up was 44 months (SD 25). The affected limb showed an increased abduction of 1,38° (SD 4,05; p=0,31) during walking and 0,65° (SD 5,23; p=0,70) during running, as well as an increased rotational translation of 2,26 mm (SD 3,62; p=0,08) during walking and 1,38 mm (SD 3,27; p=0,21) during running. The mean anterior-posterior translation was larger for the healthy limb with 1,15 mm (SD=5,30; p=0,08) during walking and with 2,43 mm (SD=5,99; p=0,23) during running. A larger mean knee flexion angle was measured for the healthy limb during walking, running and kick-backs (mean difference during walking: 3,05°; SD=7,15; p=0,28; running: 2,39°; SD=7,34; p=0,33; kick-backs: 5,31°; SD=8,59; p=0,10). However, none of these results reached statistical significance. These results show that gracilis tendon harvest in healthy knees does not lead to altered knee kinematics. However, the small size of our cohort should be taken into consideration. These data support the use of the gracilis tendon as autologous graft for reconstructive surgery.

So the performance analysis of fly wireless network which proposes a uninterrupted wireless mesh networks aims at providing a best measure of performance that is the best quality of service on the meshwork by providing an improved energy gleaning using potency segregation (IGPS) which empowers each node to have self- contained accumulation of energy achieving heightened adaption with energy consumption kept at a minimum. The gross functioning of the proposed is examined on the bases of delay and packet loss to prove the quality of service acquired.

The institutional setting of the 1994 local elections was characterized by a by law introduced limitation of campaign expenditures and the increased share (at least 25%) of female candidates. In spite of compulsory voting rules, the turnout decreased with 1,2%. The proportion of blanc or invalid votes increased slightly with 0,3%. The results of the local elections followed the trends drawn by the 1991 general election. This means general losses for the traditional parties and large progress for the extreme right-wing parties. In the Flemish region, the winners were the extreme right-wing Vlaams Blok, the ecologist AGALEV and the VLD liberals. The others parties lost votes. This was particularly the case for the Flemish-nationalist VU, followed by the socialists (SP) and the christian-democrats (CVP).In the Walloons region, all the traditional parties were set back or stagnated. The socialists (PS) suffered the largest decline, but the liberals (PRL) and christian-democrats (PSC) lost voters too. The ecologist ECOLO only kept a modest status quo position. On the other hand, the extreme right-wing parties Front National and Agir realised a breakthrough. In Brussels, we notice the same tendencies, set-backs for the traditional parties and progress for the extreme rightwing parties (of both languages). The ecologists belonged there also to the winning side. Nevertheless, the fragmentation of the local political system should not be dramatized.In general terms, parties supporting the leaving political majorities in the municipalities were no langer electorally favoured. On the contrary, the liberals realized better results in these municipalities where they belonged to the opposition.

Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) continue to be the global ‘flavour of the month’ in international development. They are regarded as “outside” actors perceived to work in the interests of the poor, and in the absence of the state, many NGOs have taken on vital role in the provision of basic services to the poor. The institutional and political environment is attuned to privatisation in whatever form it takes. NGOs are another expression of this trend, but in the case of NGOs no real disillusionment phase has yet set in. But still NGOs remain the favoured vehicle for grass-roots involvement and community development in many countries. The present paper seeks to delineate the role of NGOs in micro finance and study their aggregate impact on poverty reduction in rural Pakistan as a result of micro finance efforts. The paper is organised in four sections. Section I commences with the concepts, promises and limitations of NGOs as a vehicle of micro finance. Section II summarises the record of performance of NGOs in Pakistan. In particular, the role, achievements and set-backs of two noted NGOs in Pakistan, Agha Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) and National Rural Support Programme (NRSP). Which are studied by examining aggregate impact of these NGOs on poverty reduction as result of their micro finance efforts. Section III examines the poverty profile and presents summary of the role of NGOs in the context of poverty lending and, finally Section IV concludes the analysis and proposes some policy recommendations.

The design, analysis, and simulation of a new Micro-electromechanical System (MEMS) gyroscope based on differential tunneling magnetoresistance sensing are presented in this paper. The device is driven by electrostatic force, whereas the Coriolis displacements are transferred to intensity variations of magnetic fields, further detected by the Tunneling Magnetoresistance units. The magnetic fields are generated by a pair of two-layer planar multi-turn copper coils that are coated on the backs of the inner masses. Together with the dual-mass structure of proposed tuning fork gyroscope, a two-stage differential detection is formed, thereby enabling rejection of mechanical and magnetic common-mode errors concurrently. The overall conception is described followed by detailed analyses of proposed micro-gyroscope and rectangle coil. Subsequently, the FEM simulations are implemented to determine the mechanical and magnetic characteristics of the device separately. The results demonstrate that the micro-gyroscope has a mechanical sensitivity of 1.754 nm/°/s, and the micro-coil has a maximum sensitivity of 41.38 mOe/µm. When the detection height of Tunneling Magnetoresistance unit is set as 60 µm, the proposed device exhibits a voltage-angular velocity sensitivity of 0.131 mV/°/s with a noise floor of 7.713 × 10−6°/s/Hz in the absence of any external amplification.

Inappropriate posture and the presence of spinal disorders require specific monitoring systems. In clinical settings, posture evaluation is commonly performed with visual observation, electrogoniometers or motion capture systems (MoCaps). Developing a measurement system that can be easily used also in non-structured environments would be highly beneficial for accurate posture monitoring. This work proposes a system based on three magneto-inertial measurement units (MIMU), placed on the backs of seventeen volunteers on the T3, T12 and S1 vertebrae. The reference system used for validation is a stereophotogrammetric motion capture system. The volunteers performed forward bending and sit-to-stand tests. The measured variables for identifying the posture were the kyphosis and the lordosis angles, as well as the range of movement (ROM) of the body segments. The comparison between MIMU and MoCap provided a maximum RMSE of 5.6° for the kyphosis and the lordosis angles. The average lumbo-pelvic contribution during forward bending (41.8 ± 8.6%) and the average lumbar ROM during sit-to-stand (31.8 ± 9.8° for sitting down, 29.6 ± 7.6° for standing up) obtained with the MIMU system agree with the literature. In conclusion, the MIMU system, which is wearable, inexpensive and easy to set up in non-structured environments, has been demonstrated to be effective in posture evaluation.

<p>Moot courts are considered to be a common clinical legal education method. The purpose of the following article is to demonstrate advantages and disadvantages of using moot courts as a teaching method at high schools. This will be based on the experience of Street law assistants and their survey held among high school students. Gathered and analysed information will hopefully provide answers to the questions mentioned above. The article is divided into four parts. The first part introduces Charles University Law School Street Law course since it serves as prime source of our experience with high school students teaching and organising moot court. The second part deals with basic benefits and set backs of high school moot courts. The third part is dedicated to survey results presentation and the fourth part is composed of our experience of moot court organisation.</p><p>The purpose of our article is to offer basic information about the moot court simulation itself, present our survey research of high school students’ simulation perception and share our experience which might serve as encouragement for moot court organisation and also as basic advice on which common mistakes to avoid and what to pay close attention to.</p>

Thermal sweating is the thermoregulatory activity of the human body in hot and warm environments, which is critical to the human thermal comfort and health. The sweating of a human body in a real weightlessness environment has seldom been researched, and simulated weightlessness has usually been conducted under comfortable environments. In order to study the sweating of the human body under weightlessness, a 7-day −6° head down bed rest experiment was carried out on six male subjects lying on their backs to simulate the physiological changes that occur under a weightless environment. The skin microcurrents of the subjects were recorded to evaluate sweating under a range of environments. The results showed that sweating was more significant in the torso and head areas than on the arms and lower body. The whole body sweat rates of subjects were lower than those before the simulated weightlessness experiment. However, the threshold air temperature for the onset of sweating under simulated weightlessness was higher than that before the simulation. This was possibly due to the raising of thermoregulatory set-point temperature of the body. Findings have shown that the sweating behaviour and thermal response of a male human body in a weightless environment could be different to those in the terrestrial condition.

This work provides explorationists with simple procedures to perform depth conversion more accurately than can be achieved with simple vertical layer cake depth conversion. The use of image rays, which are inadequate in structurally complex areas, is avoided. Migrated time interpretations are still used and are "demigrated" using the Kirchhoff time migration equations. This backs out the effect of the time migration prior to a ray depth migration and enables the lateral shifts between the time migrated image and a depth migrated image to be quantified. These shifts can be separated into a mismigration component and a refraction component. The relative size of the components define whether time or depth migration is required and may be used to justify a remigration of the seismic image. Furthermore, the tedious layer by layer approach to ray depth migration may be avoided by using the velocity depth model from the vertical layer cake depth conversion of the time‐migrated data for ray depth migration of the unmigrated data for all horizons in a single step. A satisfactory result is usually achieved without the need to iterate. These methods are illustrated with both a synthetic example and a real 3-D data set from the Norwegian North Sea.

T cells are known as the most potent killer cells of the immune system, designed by nature to prevent unwanted challenges. The first class of therapeutic products harnessing the power of T cells for target-specific treatment of oncological diseases was bispecific antibodies. The first T-cell engaging bispecific antibodies that obtained approval were catumaxomab and blinatumomab 1 , 2 . Eight years later, the first chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cells received regulatory approval 3 . CAR-T cells are the cellular interpretation of T-cell engaging therapies and have shown remarkable clinical results. CAR-T cells belong to the regulatory group of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs). Due to the cell-/gene-based complex nature, ATMPs are far more challenging to develop than other, more defined, medicinal products. Despite very encouraging clinical results, there have been many set-backs in the development of ATMPs during the past 20 years. Therefore, the approval of the first two CAR-Ts KYMRIAH and YESCARTA is highly encouraging for the field. In this article we review the current landscape of CAR-Ts as a special class of ATMPs. This comprises the pathway to approval including the use of dedicated regulatory tools and challenges that were faced during the procedure. Furthermore, we highlight important future trends in the field.

The generation of different types of defective viral genomes (DVG) is an unavoidable consequence of the error-prone replication of RNA viruses. In recent years, a particular class of DVGs, those containing long deletions or genome rearrangements, has gain interest due to their potential therapeutic and biotechnological applications. Identifying such DVGs in high-throughput sequencing (HTS) data has become an interesting computational problem. Several algorithms have been proposed to accomplish this goal, though all incur false positives, a problem of practical interest if such DVGs have to be synthetized and tested in the laboratory. We present a metasearch tool, DVGfinder, that wraps the two most commonly used DVG search algorithms in a single workflow for the identification of the DVGs in HTS data. DVGfinder processes the results of ViReMa-a and DI-tector and uses a gradient boosting classifier machine learning algorithm to reduce the number of false-positive events. The program also generates output files in user-friendly HTML format, which can help users to explore the DVGs identified in the sample. We evaluated the performance of DVGfinder compared to the two search algorithms used separately and found that it slightly improves sensitivities for low-coverage synthetic HTS data and DI-tector precision for high-coverage samples. The metasearch program also showed higher sensitivity on a real sample for which a set of copy-backs were previously validated.
